Talking people, talking places from Bubba's perspective. Hello again everybody and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you. This is the Bubba on the Lake podcast. I am your semi retired, mostly washed up post, formerly the Rick and Bubba show and now your lovable host for Bubba on the Lake and our other podcast, the Tailgate Tailgate Show. We're broadcasting from the Meliella studio. And thanks for the pictures from the Melayella fans out there. I've been getting those. Our website is BubbaontheLake.com and of course you can send me a message at bubba@bubbaonthelake.com or you can use our comment line 308 Big Lake. And we also ask that you turn on notifications you subscribe. Follow us on all of our social media. All that stuff helps. I know it's a pain. Nobody wants to go and check those boxes, but it really does help with all the metrics of what we have to deal with in podcasting today. And of course most important are the people who make this podcast possible. Russell Lance Coke, Buffalo Wild Wings, Central State bank, guaranteed labels, Dr. Thomas Dudney, sunrise Docs, Bankers Bounty, Southern Immediate Care, the Green Monster Light and Bice Motors. We want to thank those sponsors who have made this show possible this year. And this is kind of a landmark program not only because it's Christmas time, but this is podcast number 40. And our original goal when we started in March of this year was to do 40 shows by the time we got back around to March. So we're actually ahead of schedule. We haven't taken a lot of time off, we hadn't missed a lot of shows and we're probably going to take a couple of weeks off after this one to enjoy Christmas with our family. We'll probably record a few segments and we'll share them with you coming up next year. But we're ahead of schedule so we probably will take a few weeks. But there again that's why we say turn on notifications. That way when a podcast drops, you immediately get a notification and it immediately loads it on your phone or however you're getting this. So a lot of cool things that that this format allows you to do. So thankful. Just so thankful. Got so many great emails the whole year, but especially lately and you know, it's been a, it's been a challenging year to say the least. Starting this new project and then having our, our little fun with our artificial knee that required three surgeries and hopefully we're on top of that. PICC line is gone, by the way. We're still having to take some antibiotics and will for a while, but that's just par for the course. But we're, we're, we're doing well. Knock, knock on wood. Everything is going fairly well on that front. So we're going to have to start some rehab here before long. That'll be fun. Everybody who has ever been to rehab knows how much fun that can be and how you look forward to that. But folks, we have a great podcast. I'm very excited about this one. Not only is it number 40, not only is it probably the last one of the year. We'll see if you don't get one in the next couple of weeks. Don't panic, don't panic. I'll be back. But we have some special guests on here that I've wanted to get on here for a while. Our very own former producer for the show, Don Juan DeMarco, will make his first appearance ever on Bubba on the Lake. Now, we're excited about this. Demarco Williams, very funny, just a great guy and very privileged to call him friend and work with him as long as we did. We had some really great memories and we'll bounce back and flash back on some of that while we talk. But we appreciate you guys being there. I mean, you guys have made it happen. I get so many great emails. I don't just bog you down by reading them all to you. That can be a little self indulgent. But I want you to know those of you that send it and every now and then I do share some, I admit I share some, but they really mean a lot to me. Betty reads them, Hunter reads them and we, we really appreciate that. We're just talking about our great sponsors that are on the program here and one of them that has stepped up big time, that's going to be with us through the year next year is Russell Land. Now, if you are needing gifting ideas and you're kind of tired of the usual stuff, you know, clicking and, you know, the socks and, you know, the underwear and cologne for dad, you want to do something a little different, let me suggest that you treat your friends and family to an unforgettable meal at Spring House Fanny's or Collidure Restaurant. Three of my favorite and they're all right on Highway 63 outside Alexander City if you're in this part of the country or you can grab gourmet cookies, gift cards from Catherine's Market and Brew 63. Now, if you're a lake lover, Russell Marine has apparel, gear and accessories that your loved ones or you, if you want to get it for yourself, will actually use. You need to go in there and check some of that out. Now, if you're a homeowner or you like doing DIY projects, you need to check out Russell Do it center and Building Supply. They have tools, decor and practical gifts that will hit the mark. I love the Do It Centers. I go in the one at Alexandra City and Eclectic all the time and they're big. They got a lot of stuff in them. But you know, a lot of those big box stores that just got, you feel like stuff, they're just filling the shelves with. What I like about the Do It Centers is they actually have stuff that I use and that I need and it's easy to find and they do a great job with that. So check one of those out wherever it is closely located to you. There's, there's locations all over the place. And if you need other Lake Life favorites, stocking stuffers, Russell Lands has something for everybody this holiday season. They are in the spirit, let me tell you. It's, it's, it's like having the North Pole here at the lake. It's great and we appreciate them being a sponsor here on the program. Speaking of all the sponsors, I listed them a little earlier. They, they love to hear from you guys. Of course they want your business and if you can support them, we love that. But if, say you're not needing what they sell at this particular moment, drop them an email, let them know that you appreciate them being a sponsor of Bub on the Lake. They love getting those emails. They love hearing from you guys. So we have a lot to do. So we're going to get it rolling here. Big d. Don Juan DeMarco, former producer and longtime friend, is going to check in with us from Atlanta and we're going to have him up right after this on Bubba on the Lake.

Bubba Busse
Well, welcome back everybody. And we have a very, very special guest with us just in time for the Christmas season. He is an old friend. We worked together for many, many years. I haven't talked to him, I guess in a year now. Big D, DeMarco Williams. D, how are you doing?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
What's up, brother?
Bubba Busse
How are you doing, my friend?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Hey, man, I am doing awesome. It's so, so good to hear you and talk to you and hear what's going on with you. It's just, I miss you, buddy. I miss you. How's it been?
Bubba Busse
We're doing good. Doing good. I have people, I mean, literally every week will ask me, how is big day doing? How's D? How's D? And I said, you know, I got to get him on the podcast and catch up with him and see what's going on. So D, tell us, what are you still working in Atlanta with some radio and doing some other things? What are you doing?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
But what am I not doing? I say that all the time because I keep getting, you know, assignments and doing this and that and I keep saying yes. So I do radio, of course, and I do television and still doing my, my fitness stuff down at the gym too. So I tried to cut back a little and say, hey, Buddy, you get a little old, you can't do everything. Can't say yes to everything. So I tried to cut back a little bit, but I still keep saying yes and still committing to doing a little bit of everything right now here in Atlanta.
Bubba Busse
So, Dee, how old are you now?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
I am 48.
Bubba Busse
Good night.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Believe it or not, I have to think about it. Sometimes you get so old, sometimes you're like, you know what? How old am I? What is the actual number?
Bubba Busse
Well, I think it's your body fighting back, too. It doesn't really want to say it.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
That part, too. That part, too.
Bubba Busse
You know, I catch people now. They like, I'm about to be 62, believe it or not, and they'll say, I'm 26. You know, they'll just flip the numbers around and, you know, they're not. They're not right? Oh, yeah, I'll be 26 this time.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Well, we age gracefully. Because I tell you what, there's some things that I do today that I wished I would have been able to do in my 20s. And I still jump around like I'm 20 years old and still act the same like I'm 14. So, I mean, that's one of the things that as we get older, sometimes we get a little bit better, too.
Bubba Busse
Well, you know, maybe that's the case for you. I'm going the other way. But there's that laugh everybody loves. So, Dee, let's break it down here. And I don't mean the funky music, but so what are you doing in radio? Let's cover each column segment.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Okay, so radio, that's one of my outlets where I had to pull back a little bit. Most of the time in radio, I was doing just strictly bored, opping, producing behind the scenes. I wasn't so much of a talent, but every time I produce the show, I always ended up on the show for some reason. And believe it or not, that laugh goes across states. So everywhere I go, I get the cackling they. But yeah, mostly I was a board op. I worked in here in Atlanta. And with time and so much commitment, I recently had to pull back a little bit from the radio scene of things. And I do miss radio. You know, that's kind of my heart. I started all that with you, but, yeah, I kind of miss radio. But now television has taken a bigger role in my professional career now working, you know, the production of behind the scenes in television now.
Bubba Busse
So what kind of. Well, what station, what shows are you working at?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Well, actually, when it comes to television, it's mostly networks. I work for Uplink television site. So a lot of networks that don't do their own master control and their own programming, they, you know, outsource their content to us for us to upload. So it goes all over the country, all over the place. So a lot of those shows are just not direct shows that I work with directly. I'm just kind of behind the scenes as part of the programming and their live events, a lot of sporting events and things like that as well.
Bubba Busse
So is, is all of this still through Cox in Atlanta?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Not actually, no. I work for another company, edm, Encompass Digital Media, Cox Media. That's, that's where I did most of my radio here in Atlanta. I was there for, I would say a solid 12 years in radio there. And I still talk to all those guys all the time. I'm just not able to be there all the time like I used to, but still talking to all those guys. I remember my last encounter was trying to reach Sean Hannity for you guys because I heard Sean Hannity was saying something about hey Ms. Bubba. And I was like, well, hey, I can get in touch with them. So it's. Yeah, I missed the radio days. But like I said, you know, radio has kind of taken a bigger role now. So I'm giving all my attention towards the radio thing, the television thing.
Bubba Busse
So what about Body Jam? Is that still going on and how often are you doing that or what's it called now?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
I tell you what. But Body Jam is something that I took on and I'm not going, I'm not gonna lie, it was, it was a complete joke when I started doing it. I was like, you know what, I'll do this for a little while, you know, get a little attention. I can jump around a little bit, you know, and all this. And it kind of blew up to be something that I had no clue that I'd still be doing today. Body Jam is a fitness program where, you know, you do your athletics of cardio with dance background and up tempo music and you burn a lot of calories and sweat. And I started doing that back in the day and even after leaving Alabama, I started doing Body Jam there in other places in Atlanta and Virginia and all over the place. And Body Jam became a thing that I called Cardio Jam. Pretty much somewhat similar stuff, just, you know, with the dancing and the cardio and all that. And it's developed into something bigger and now I'm doing a thing called Dance Jam.
Bubba Busse
Dance Jam, huh?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Dance Jam. So I'm like, hey, hey, buddy. I look in the mirror every once in a while, bub, and I see the gray hair and I'm like, hey, buddy, when you gonna sit down? I can't stop.
Bubba Busse
So, Dee, when you do this, do you have a lot of pop and lockers in the group? I mean, you know, that was kind of my specialty, you know.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Yeah. You know, I love when I post that I'm having a class, and right up under that post, there's a comment from, hey, don't start without me. I love that.
Bubba Busse
Well, I give you a break. I hadn't done it in a while, but I'll get back to. That's one of my goals for 26 is I'll do that some more.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
I love it. And it's become something that. Bigger than what I thought it was going to be. Like I said, it's something that a lot of people depend on me for, for their, you know, their outlet of health and fitness and, you know, stress reliever or, you know, like, sometime with their mental health, you know, it's just like, you know, I need an outlet where I could just go and just have fun and enjoy myself and feel good about it. They choose my class for that. And that's something that I had no clue that I was going to be leading and directing and guiding people with their health journey. I had no clue that was going to be a part of my life. And it is, and I love it. And I love all of the people that keeps continuing to come and talk my classes.
Bubba Busse
So, D, what kind of music do you have? I mean, do you. Do you bring a little Midnight Star in there, no parking on the dance floor? Or is that too old school?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
No, it's not, actually. I tell you what, there's so many different. One of the great things about my class is the diversity. I mean, believe it or not, I have younger, you know, the younger generation. I have the older generation. I have meemaws, Paw paws. I got brothers, sister. I got everybody in this class. And it's like the diversity of it. It's like I gotta choose this music, different types of music, where everybody's gonna have a good time and everybody's gonna enjoy it. So I've got a mixture of all different types. I might hear something and I'm saying, you know what? I gotta use that in class. So I throw it on the playlist. And it's just one of those things where I pick different types of music, where I can just see different people and different out of the diversity of that's in the class. I could just picture them jamming out to it. I'll bring it to class. So sometimes it's a little hip hop, sometimes it's a little old school, believe it or not. Well, I had us doing a little line dance. Country line dance.
Bubba Busse
Oh, my gosh.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Hey, believe it or not, they loved it.
Bubba Busse
You know what? I'd pay to see that. I'd pay to see it. You know, the only thing. The only thing missing. Maybe get old Larry and Mark out there and cook some mystery meat for everybody coming in. How would they take that?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know what? I tell you what. I was listening to some old stuff, man, and I heard those guys, and I was like, that was a chapter of my life where I had no clue where I was going, what was going on. And I'm like, what. What did I commit to? And when Larry Moore, they start bringing different meeting, this mystery meeting, I'm like, what do you mean by mystery? Like, what is it, though? And they're like, no, it's a mystery. And I'm like, are you serious? But for so long, guys, y' all didn't know this, and you didn't. I didn't. I think I told somebody, but I didn't try a lot of the mystery meat.
Bubba Busse
D. I saw you. I know. I saw you sampling some of it and dropping it at the same time. I mean, you wasn't quite as smooth as you thought you were.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
I thought I was being low key about it. Like, you know, I'm gonna almost try this.
Bubba Busse
Yeah.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Yeah. Give a little fake chew here and. Yeah, that's funny.
Bubba Busse
You know, I still. I run into people all the time, and they. They bring up Pigskin Roundup. They said, what was that pig show y' all did on Friday night? And y' all ate all the weird food and stuff. I said, yeah, Pigskin Roundup. Yeah, we used to love to listen to that. Y' all had the golden plunger and the concession stand of the week, and y' all had some kind of utter machine people were getting condiments out of. I said, oh, yeah, that was really big. That was huge.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
That will go down in history. I'm telling you that. That was one of those memories that I will.
Bubba Busse
I will live.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
That will live on forever, those type of shows. And just to be honest with you, like, I listen to different types of shows and, like, the podcast and just entertainment, and nobody did it the way we did it. You know, there's nothing out there like that.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, I. You know, and I. I don't want to say this because it's going to sound self serving, but I listen to a lot of different stuff now because I have time to do that. And you know, I'm like you. I catch some of the real old stuff and I find myself laughing pretty hard sometimes.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Well, just a little heads up, if you ever decide to listen to some old, old stuff, don't, don't get on the treadmill and do it. You know what I'm telling. Because you'll get the cackling a little bit. Next thing you know you'll come off that bad boy quick. I fall it, I fall in several times. Listen to some old stuff. But I'm telling you, man, it can be dangerous. It can be dangerous but, but it always gets me to my goal. If I say I'm going to be on this, on this treadmill for 30 minutes to burn my calories and I throw, throw some old stuff on me, I'm telling you, I'm going to ride it out and I'm going to have the energy to continue to going on after 30 minutes.
Bubba Busse
Now, Dave, let me ask you a question. What's a treadmill?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Treadmill?
Bubba Busse
I had one one time, but I thought it was for putting clothes on it. I mean, I had a pile of shirts on top of that thing.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Bethlehem, put your shirt that you're going to wear the next morning out, put it out and lay it on the treadmill.
Bubba Busse
It's where I would, you know, I stored things on it. You don't understand. I had them like 12 deep and I flipped that on switch one time accidentally and shirts went flying all over the room. It was something like a wind come through there. You ain't never seen an extra large T shirt fly off that thing like it did. I mean, it stuck up on the wall. It was something. Oh.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Oh my gosh.
Bubba Busse
So d. Do you talk? One of your contemporaries at the time was Casio kid. Have you talked to him lately?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Yeah, we keep in touch periodically. You know, he's got a busy, he's always doing a lot of things and he does shows different places and, and one of my, one of the, one of the fun things about our friendship is we may go a long time without talking and when we finally talk, we catch up and it's almost like, you know, we never ever left the park. It feels like the days we used to carpool, you know, from Gaston, Birmingham every morning. But, but Casio is, you know, he's an entertainer now. He's, he's a, he's a big Time. Entertainer, comedian. And if you're my buddy, I'm gonna keep up with your schedule. So every once in a while, Casio may have a show out somewhere. And, hey, Big D is gonna pop up at it.
Bubba Busse
I bet he loves that, too. Unannounced, you just show up.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
I just pop up, man. I had one like that recently, and I was like, man, this is gonna be great. I can't believe I'm in the same place at the same time. Let's go. We're going to catch up.
Bubba Busse
Casio is. He is very funny, you know. You know that. And, you know, I believe.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Oh, yeah.
Bubba Busse
Now what. What about his show? Now? Is it. Is it. He used to have a little yuck in his shows. He still yuck a little bit.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Well, well, you know, the. The. The. The crowd. You know, it depends on the crowd you're going to be in front of. Some of those crowds just require a little yuck, you know, Some of. You know, and I'm easy, but. But, you know, I'm an easy target. I'm so. I laugh at a lot of stuff, and it's just naturally for me to laugh. But when you get those crowds out there and they're bending that elbow and turning them, turning them back, you know, they need a little yuck. And Castro drop a couple jewels on them every once in a while and get the crowd going. He knows what to do and when to deliver, I can tell you that.
Bubba Busse
Well, I'll tell you. And you know this. I was never so shocked in my life when he ended up on the Tonight Show. I mean, that was.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
That was something such an amazing outlet, man. I'm like, what in the world? Is this real? Is this true? What in the world?
Bubba Busse
My favorite was Steve Harrison, who was our sales manager at the time that Casio worked for. And he come in and said, I couldn't have been more shocked if a UFO had landed in my front yard. The door opened, and Bigfoot walked out.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
It was shocking. It was definitely shocking. And just watching ck, you know, go through the ropes of keeping me entertained with it, I'm like, are you serious? Are you true? And then the next thing you know, it's like, it's actually on tv. I'm like, all that stuff you told me, that was true. Not that I didn't believe him, but it's like, are you serious?
Bubba Busse
Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, there's a certain amount you go, that's just so bizarre. I don't know how to process it, you know?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
And that's Yeah, I mean, really, when.
Bubba Busse
Jay Leno is welcoming Cancion Ken out on the stage, you know, and you're like, what in the heck is going on here?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Give it up for Cathy. Oh, give it up.
Bubba Busse
Give it up. You know?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Yeah. That was amazing. That was awesome. I couldn't believe it. But like I said, it was great being a part of that, hearing a part of that, hearing the journey he took and a lot of that journey. You know, we didn't talk about a lot of the. A lot of his journey and how that journey was supposed to involve me. Yeah, we never really talked about that part of it. We did do a little vacation prior to him leaving, going to Los Angeles. And that vacation was to try to see, you know, how is life in Los Angeles, because I think I want to go to Los Angeles, too. So it was one of those type of trips where we really thought long and hard about what we were going to do. And he kind of had his goal set. And my goal. Hey, you already knew my goal was with you guys, of course. But I also thought about, like, what would I do, you know, in a place like that? You know, like, when it comes to the TV and the acting and at the time, I was trying to be GQ and model and act and do all that kind of stuff, too. What, you know, what would it be for me? And it turned out to be not something that I was willing to drop everything to go do, but for Cat, it's not perfect timing for him.
Bubba Busse
Well, Dee, I was going to tell you also, I've run into so many of our former interns, and it's so strange now because they all have, like, eight kids, you know, and, you know, here's little Tommy. He's about to graduate. And I'm like, what? What? What are you talking about? You know, and it's just so strange. Oh, I know, I know. It's like, I don't know what I thought was gonna happen, like they were gonna freeze in time, but it, you know, it's so real now and talking about getting old, I don't know if, you know, I have an artificial knee now. I got a fake knee this year.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know what? I think I saw that. I'm like, well, I guess that, you know, you finally coming and being a part of body jam and 2026 is real because you can do it now.
Bubba Busse
Well, you know, we had a little trouble. We had a little infection. It kind of drug out a little bit, but we're about through all of it. So, you know, all's well, that ends well if we can. If we can get there and keep it, keep it rocking and rolling. I just have to go get it greased every now and then.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Well, I mean, and don't do so much break dancing, you know, you have to pull back on the break dance.
Bubba Busse
A little bit, bub.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know, you got to pull back on a bit.
Bubba Busse
Little. Well, I, you know, before I got the knee, I was popping and locking and it locked and I couldn't move, you know, and I said it was time to get rid of it. I really locked. You know what I mean? It's like concrete. Oh, there it is. Yeah. So. Well, look, just look, this is my advice to you. Take care of your knees.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Oh, hey, hey. Yeah, you, you. You're telling me you're telling the right person that. Because I'm one of those, like I said before, how I still feel like I'm that young guy, that little 20 year old that jumps, that can jump around and do anything. I still feel like that when I go and walk into a gym. So I do a lot of jumping and running around and kicking and doing all this kind of stuff. But I come to realize too, once I'm done doing that and I get home and I have to soak myself just like every night. You know, Epsom salt is my best friend now.
Bubba Busse
You know, I. I didn't know Epsom salt worked as good as it did. You know, I'm kind of shocked.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Oh, man. Yeah, look, I got stock in that stuff now, man. I'm telling love.
Bubba Busse
Well, D, it's so good to talk to you. Family, everybody's sisters. How's everybody doing?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know, family is doing well, everybody's doing well. You know, everybody's blessed and we just, you know, kicking along with life and everybody's getting on up there and I love it. So yes, definitely, definitely. Everybody's doing well. And I gotta, you know, shout out to. To you and Betalou. I have to check in with Betalou every once in a while and Honda bus and Caitlin, make sure everybody's doing good and everything too. So much love to you guys because I never get a chance to see you guys that much. But I'm coming to the lake one day, love. I'm coming to the lake.
Bubba Busse
Well, look, you come on, I'll give you a boat ride you'll never forget. You know, we'll go eat and, and have a good time. And of course, if we come over the border your way, we'll at you too. And we do whenever we get to Atlanta hadn't been in a while, but.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Yeah.
Bubba Busse
D, so good to talk to you. Anything else we need to cover in your life we need to know about?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know, I'm not, I don't. I'm not settled down yet. I know that's gonna be a question. I was like, you know, I was gonna be the first one that he's gonna make sure.
Bubba Busse
Well.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
Gonna be the first one. I call it. Hey, Bobby. I finally settled down, but.
Bubba Busse
Well, I was, I was gonna let you take the lead on that. And I know, I know you didn't want to rush into anything. I think you're okay. I think you covered that.
Betty Busse
Yeah.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know what? And you know, my, you know, of course, my life, I had always, you know, mirrored. I tried to mirror my life and everything that I wanted off of, you know, you guys and everything with, you know, you know, one day I'm gonna finally settle down and find my daddy Lou, and, you know, I'm gonna settle down and I'm gonna have the picket fence and the kids and all that kind of stuff. And, you know, that's exactly what I wanted. But then again, it's like, well, God said, hey, now, I need you over here. I need you doing this, doing that. So I've been doing a little bit of everything and that hadn't happened yet.
Bubba Busse
You know, you would think dance jam would bring in some clientele, you know what I mean?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
And let me just be honest, it does. But you can't just run with it all because if I would have done that, I'd have been in, in trouble and out of a lot of money. But.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, yeah, I understand. I understand. Well, D, it's so good, it's so good to talk to you. You've been like a big Christmas gift for everybody here on Bubba on the lake, and we've enjoyed it and we're going to check in with you. We're not going to let it go a year again, okay? We're going to check in like mid year and get you over here on the boat and we'll have a good time.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You know what? You know, Bubba, it's been amazing getting a chance to catch up with you and I look forward to seeing you guys so soon. And yeah, you. You might hear a little ding dong at that front door and I might be standing out there now.
Bubba Busse
Well, you just come on, anytime.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
All right. Well, hey, I love you guys, man. You tell Beta Lou I said hey, and I'm gonna talk to you guys soon and definitely see you guys soon.
Bubba Busse
At the lake will do. Love you, brother. Take care of yourself. Don Juan DeMarco, former producer for the radio show. And as you hear, he is. He's living life to the max in the atl. So, Dee, thank you. And we will be right back in just a a minute with more Bubba on the lake.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
We'll be right back.

Bubba Busse
Welcome back, everybody. It is Bubba on the lake. Sure enjoyed our visit with Don Juan DeMarco. And now we have a guest a little closer to home, my son, the very own Hunter Busse. Hunter, how are you, sir?
Hunter Busse
Hey, O. I'm doing good.
Bubba Busse
How are you? Hunter? I have enjoyed this year, been able to work some with you and we're doing a podcast together called the Tailgate Tailgate show, which focuses on college football. But we're down to the playoffs, so it's kind of even a broader audience, broader news. That's why I wanted to take just a little bit of time to talk about some of these first round games because they start this week. We have Alabama and Oklahoma with a rematch. And let's see, who else do we have playing here in the first games we got?
Hunter Busse
Let's See, I know for sure. We have, like you were saying, Alabama, Oklahoma.
Bubba Busse
We have James Madison, Ohio. I mean, not Ohio. Oregon.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, James Madison and Oregon, Tulane and Ole Miss and then Miami and Texas.
Bubba Busse
So Alabama and Oklahoma are seated 8 and 9 in this or ranked 8 and 9. So there should be a pretty good matchup. Oklahoma defeated Alabama during the season and.
Hunter Busse
We'Re not season two.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, Oklahoma has really dealt out the pain wagon to Alabama and Auburn, both from our state.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, they got the state of Alabama's number, that's for sure.
Bubba Busse
So are they. We don't really get into picking it at this point. Point. We'll save that for the tailgate. Tailgate show. But any. Anything that really sticks out to you about these first round matchups. And of course, let's mention the teams that got a buy. Indiana, who is seated? Number one. Ranked number one.
Hunter Busse
Hottest team in America right now.
Bubba Busse
Number two, Ohio State. Number three is. Let's see who is three? Georgia. Georgia. The Bulldog. Sorry, Bulldog fans. And number four is Texas Tech. I'm. I'm going off memory on some of this, so you have to excuse me since that is now one of my less most powerful things I can do. But let's just focus on these first round games. Alabama and Oklahoma will start actually. Is it Friday night?
Hunter Busse
Yeah, it's this coming. Yeah, it's this. It's this week. So that's gonna be a fun one. It's in Norman. I know some friends of mine that are going out there to cover it. It's going to be an interesting game considering how Oklahoma has played Bama this season and last season. You know, we'll see what happens. It's going to be interesting for sure. I think it's going to be one of those situations where it's going to be hard to beat a team twice. But who knows? It seems like we said earlier, Alabama does not have what Oklahoma has dialed up for them so.
Bubba Busse
Well, if it was week four or five when I felt like Alabama was getting better every week, I might say that would be the way to go. But I feel like Alabama has backed up a little bit. They. Yeah, they. They've had, you know, they bad loss to Georgia in the championship game. No way around that. Struggled against a. An Auburn team is not very good. I think they, you know, they've had some injuries. I think that played a big part of that. And I think, you know, they're hoping to get some of those guys back. So that would make a huge difference. I mean, you know, jerseys don't Play games. People do. And when you have a guy that's a starter, I mean, you decided he's the best guy in that position. He's not there. That means your team is not as good as it was. So you know that the injury bug can. Can really be a booger.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, it can. But if you're Alabama, you have the confidence that that Crimson helmet with the number on the side, it'll get the other team shaking in their cleats. And hopefully that's what happens Saturday if you're a Bama fan, but. Or Friday, I guess, if you're a Bama fan, but who knows? That's the beautiful thing about college football nowadays in the playoff, you never know. It has to be decided on the field. So.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, I mean, that's the thing. Like with James Madison in they, you know, on paper, they just don't look like they're a very good matchup for Oregon. No to Lane does not look like a good matchup for Ole Miss. Ole Miss, I mean, Ole Miss beat them handily, what, 40 points or so during the season. So we'll see a rematch of that, but you never know. You just never know. Yeah, Miami, Texas A and M looks like it will be a very good game in Alabama. Oklahoma looks very good and of course, the winners of those games will move forward. So have you enjoyed working for Intergalactic Pants and Tees and. And working on the Hunter? Does a lot of the editing now, thank goodness. But how have you enjoyed that and doing the Tailgate Tailgate show?
Hunter Busse
I mean, I've enjoyed it a lot. I've always, you know, you've seen me grow up. I've been more of a computer guy just growing up. And now that I'm getting to edit and I did some editing in high school for a AV class and it's kind of cool to be able to bring that some of that over and also learn new skills along the way with this. So it's been fun. And then tailgate. Tailgate, you know, it's been kind of cool to be able to do a show with you as well as help you out, you know, produce both of them. It's kind of my official title as producer for both Bubble in the Lake and the tailgate tailgate show. So it definitely helps.
Bubba Busse
So the. We've also got to do some other things. We've been out promoting some things and we got to. We. We've done some appearances on other radio shows and had a lot of fun with that with the guys over in Ashland at Classic country. They. They invite us over quite a bit. We always have a lot of fun going over there. And we got to do the Lionville Christmas Parade. We were grand marshals, and, man, you did some good candy throwing in that.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, yeah, I. It's one of those things where.
Bubba Busse
Funny. It's sounding funny. I don't know what's going on with it.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, I don't know. Dad's over here touching the microphone when I'm trying to speak. But, yeah, I enjoyed the. The Christmas Parade. I got some good looks and I told that, you know, on the radio. I told everyone to have their kids ready to run some routes for candy, and I made them run some routes, that's for sure.
Bubba Busse
Hunter, just come on over here to that. I don't know what's going on with that microphone. It's going south or something. I don't know. You know, we. You never know here in the old Mellow Yellow studio. We. That thing. It sound like you had a frog in your throat. I don't know what was going on.
Hunter Busse
Well, my.
Bubba Busse
Just.
Hunter Busse
I'm still sick, sort of, so that's probably what it is.
Bubba Busse
No, it sounded like it had an issue. I don't know what was going on there with it. So we may be having a band opening night on the mic frequencies, who knows? But I've enjoyed working with you, too. It's been a lot of fun. And, you know, not everybody gets to work with their son, so we've enjoyed it so far, and you've done a good job.
Hunter Busse
Appreciate it. Yeah, it's been a lot of fun, and I can't wait to see what 2026 holds for this. For this venture. I'm excited to see what happens.
Bubba Busse
You know, we get a lot of requests for video, and we've played a little bit with video. We haven't really put any out there, but, you know, I keep asking the question, are y' all sure you want to see us? I mean, you know, that's not really our strong suit. I mean, if we were hot babes or something, I got you. But we're not really lookers here. Especially me.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, I mean, there's nothing really special to look at, honestly. But, I mean, if y' all want video, we're working on it, so, you know, stay tuned. That's all I'm gonna say.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, well, it. It complicates everything. You know, your sponsors want to be in video then, and, you know, runs up production cost and all those kind of things. But, you know, we're this Whole thing has been a great experiment, and it is a work in progress, and we want to keep moving it forward. And maybe video is a part of it. Maybe we do more podcasts a week. We've talked about that, too. So we're all ears. And you can drop me a line bubbaonthelate.com and let me know your thoughts on all of it. We'll, you know, take all of that under advisement and see what we can come up with.
Hunter Busse
Yeah. And I know you've mentioned, you know, just off air, that you've been wanting to focus more Bubba on the lake in the spring and then possibly tailgate. Tailgate. Let me take the reins on that. So that'll be something to look forward to as well. So we'll see if we can make that happen for y'.
Bubba Busse
All. Yeah, well, it. You know, there. There's a lot of people that follow basketball now. It's. It's bigger in our state than it's ever been with success of Auburn and Alabama both. And so, you know, I don't know. Baseball is also very big in the Southeastern Conference. Those teams are always competing in the World Series. So I don't know if that's something that you. You want to do. You know, we'll try to make that happen. Yeah.
Hunter Busse
I mean, you've. You know, I love basketball. I don't know why I'm so hooked to it. I don't know if it's something that, you know, because you liked basketball growing up, too, so maybe that, you know, genetic, you know, thing for me bled over. So I don't know. It's just one of those things. But I love basketball to death.
Bubba Busse
So are you ready for Christmas?
Hunter Busse
I am ready for Christmas. I'm ready to get here and relax, and I got to do some. Finish up some gift wrapping, but other than that, I've gotten everything I need to get for everybody and ready to spend time with the family and the dogs and the cat and just kind of take a load off and get ready to go into 20, 26.
Bubba Busse
So I tell you what I like. Betty has been in the kitchen cooking, and she makes a lot of great food. Okay. A lot. And she's making what I call party mix right now. And you put all the pretzels and check mix and peanuts. She makes a batch for. Caitlin doesn't have peanuts because she's allergic to them. And you put garlic on it and cook it, and it smells so good. I mean, I. I'm having a hard time concentrating because the aroma of that I don't know if you can smell it through the podcast, but it is kicking here in the studio.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, it's like Looney Tunes. Whenever they smell a pie in the window, it's like they start to float towards it, you know, almost like levitate. And I don't know what it is. For me, it tastes better right after it gets out of the oven when it's nice and warm. I'm telling y', all, it can jump start a school bus. It's that good.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, we. As you see, this segment is coming to an end, and Hunter and I are headed to the kitchen. Hunter, thank you for everything, buddy. I appreciate it. Love you. And we're looking forward to bigger and better things next year. And hopefully we keep this knee in order. We won't have to deal with that through half the year.
Hunter Busse
Yeah, we're. We're almost done with the knee. Hopefully I'm ready to move on from that, too. And I didn't even go through the surgery, so I'm ready for you to be 100% and going to this next year. Hard and heavy on the podcast. So it's going to be a lot of fun.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, I've learned about all I want to learn about orthopedics and an infectious disease. I've had enough of that this year. So, Hunter, thank you. And we'll, we'll look forward to all those projects. We're always open for ideas, too. Like I said, shoot us an email, tell us what you're thinking, and we'll. We'll throw it into the discussion pot. That's for sure. We'll be right back in just a minute. You are listening to Bubba on the Lake. You're listening to Bubba.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)

You know one thing I love about Buffalo wild wings?
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
You can get wings with any of their 26 sauces and dry rubs for takeout and delivery. That's like bringing an entire B dubs home with you, which you can't do. I tried.
Bubba Busse
I've knocked down so many walls only.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
To then be told to halt construction.
Bubba Busse
Because I'm not zoned to be a sports bar. Kind of just looks like a big pergola or something. Because of the lack of walls, at least these 26 sauces and dry rubs are available.
DeMarco Williams (Don Juan DeMarco)
To go Buffalo Wild Wings.
Bubba Busse
Let's go Sports Bar.

She's number one on my Christmas list this year, Betty Busse. Betty, how are you babe?
Betty Busse
I'm doing great. How are you this morning?
Bubba Busse
Well, you're always joke that you're part elf, but you have really got the Christmas spirit and the house looks good and people always want to know about your decorating. Tell everybody what you've got and how you got there.
Betty Busse
Well, I have a ton of Penny McAllister little figurines. I'll have to send some pictures and you can post them or something. Or I'll post some. Years ago I helped a friend of mine. She had a retail store and we went to different like junior league Christmas show type things and that's kind of how I got paid with these little Christmas decorations.
Bubba Busse
So you went there as an event to help promote it for the radio station and you got paid in figurines?
Betty Busse
No, no, no, no. This had nothing to do with the radio station. Yeah, that was a whole different gig, the Christmas Christmas Village and all that. Yeah, I know. I got paid in Santa Bucks at Christmas Village. Usually just got to shop some. Yeah.
Bubba Busse
So anyway, so you pay the power bill with those.
Betty Busse
I know, yeah. For some reason they looked at me funny when I gave them Santa Bucks. They just were not into it.
Bubba Busse
I don't know.
Betty Busse
So anyway. But I have a lot of that and just a lot of older ornaments Some the kids made, you know, on the tree on one of our trees. And then I have the classic chipmunk Thanksgiving tree that the chipmunk got in that time. Right.
Bubba Busse
That was fun.
Betty Busse
So we have that one. And now.
Bubba Busse
Where are all these at? I'm confused. Even I'm confused. And I live here.
Betty Busse
I was about to say you hadn't seen.
Bubba Busse
What do we have in the den?
Betty Busse
Okay. The base. The den. Our main living room den, whatever you. Is the traditional tree, I call it. And it's just, you know, red and green, and it's got a big puffy bow at the top and all these things. It looks like it's about to shoot to the moon.
Bubba Busse
Yeah, we'll. We'll put some pictures on social media for everybody to see. But that tree is unusual in that it's the biggest tree and it has rollers on it.
Betty Busse
It does. Yeah.
Bubba Busse
It's out of the attic. That's one of your little elf secrets, is you roll trees in.
Betty Busse
Well, I don't roll it all decorated or anything. And actually, that's one of those flip trees. And I take all the ornaments off and flip it and roll it because it's easier to deal with.
Bubba Busse
In other words, the top part flips down.
Betty Busse
Correct.
Bubba Busse
And then you cover it up with a bag.
Betty Busse
Yeah.
Bubba Busse
And, you know, you get a good jump. And I don't mind this. You get it out before Thanksgiving and call it a Thanksgiving tree because it doesn't have ornaments on it. And then when you. You do start decorating, it becomes a Christmas tree, which I love. I. It would suit me if we left Christmas stuff up till February.
Betty Busse
I mean, let's don't do that. Let's don't go crazy.
Bubba Busse
I love it.
Betty Busse
I remember one time at. It wasn't Cedar Springs. It was a house in Jacksonville, though, we had. In Stony Brook, I guess. And remember that we had this big wreath, huge wreath. And you had to get a huge ladder to get it way up high, and it was lit up, and we loved it. And all of a sudden we realized we can't get this thing down. So it was. It became the Valentine wreath as well. So anyway, so I've been there, done that. It wasn't real fun. So.
Bubba Busse
So how many trees do we have? Give us the rundown.
Betty Busse
Well, we don't have just. Just three this year because I didn't put the one up in our bedroom. I was going to, and then it became a sick room in there with you in the bed most the time with ivy and a box and all that. So I didn't do as much this year as I normally would, really. And last year I didn't do as much because we still had boxes everywhere. We had just moved in, you know, the August before Christmas. So anyway, next year ought to be a banner year. So we'll. I've already got some plans, got some trees, you know.
Bubba Busse
Well, our goal is next year, very simply, no surgeries.
Betty Busse
Yeah.
Bubba Busse
And no sickness, knock on wood. Well, we'll kind of move back from there. But it is funny because your tree, your main one that has the rollers on it, you roll it, you set into the attic, which is. We have an elevator in our house and we put this in when we rebuild. And part of it, the real reason, well, what I tell everybody is because I had bad knees and I couldn't go up, down the stairs. The real reason we got it was simply so Betty could roll Christmas trees in and out of the attic.
Betty Busse
Well, we don't have any other storage here. This house was originally built, I'd say, as a spec house. And it was not built, in my opinion, for full time living. You know what I mean? It was more of a. Hey, Lake time. Well, you know what I'm saying.
Bubba Busse
Hey, killing our property value here, girl.
Betty Busse
I mean, it was. It was it.
Bubba Busse
This is a fabulous house.
Betty Busse
It's a fabulous house and it is ready for full time living now because we added some closets and, you know, attic, storage, all kinds of, you know, nice things. So anyway, that we improved on with the tornado rebuild, as we like to call it.
Bubba Busse
Yeah. And having the elevator that goes to the attic is a. Is a big plus. And I know that's not a normal home thing to have. We did look at some homes with elevators and it. And it definitely helps the value of it.
Betty Busse
Yeah. Because let's face it, this is a retirement community. I feel like most everybody is either retired or headed that way that live here full time. So a lot of people need that type thing, you know, or will.
Bubba Busse
Or need it for your Christmas tree.
Betty Busse
Or need it for. Yeah. Storage, you know, that kind of thing to get up there and. And store stuff. So I don't know. It's been nice, though.
Bubba Busse
Well, you've done a great job and you've cooked. We were trying to do the tailgate. Tailgate show the other night and you were cooking party mix, what I call party.
Betty Busse
Yes.
Bubba Busse
With a garlic in it. And it smells so good. We. I mean, I couldn't even hardly concentrate. And.
Betty Busse
Yeah. Now that stuff will take a while. I've Got another batch to do. I've got to do some without nuts for our daughter who has the peanut allergy or nut allergy in general. So anyway. Yep. So got to do another batch because I didn't do her any. So here we go again with that. Probably this afternoon or tomorrow. I don't know.
Bubba Busse
Well, I love it. It's. It's my favorite time of the year. I mean, there's, it's just everything is so pretty and you worked. You've had a very difficult year. And that beeping, I don't know. I had to change computers and I have cut all notifications off and it's still beeping. I don't know how to kill it. We even put it in do not disturb mode. It's still beeping. So I don't know. It may beep again here before this segment's over and then I'm going to take a hammer to it. But we've had a trying year. Matter of fact, two trying years in a row. But you've been a real rock and I appreciate it. You've. You've toed the line and got us through it and you've been a. You're on the good list.
Betty Busse
Well, thank you. I would rather be on the nice list than the naughty list, I guess.
Bubba Busse
Yes. Anytime. Anytime.
Betty Busse
Santa stop by.
Bubba Busse
Well, it's such a wonderful time of year and, you know, you have so many things going on and we got out and saw some lots the other night and we're going to go see some more. Logan, I'm about to run. I didn't know that his family did a big display and we'll give you some more information on that soon, too. But we're trying to get a map together so we can go out and look at lights.
Betty Busse
Yeah, I love.
Bubba Busse
Do you. That one went like I do.
Betty Busse
I, I love Christmas lights. Yeah, I do. I, I share that. Yeah.
Bubba Busse
The one we went to the other night was really awesome because you could drive through it or you could get out and ride.
Betty Busse
Yeah, that was nice.
Bubba Busse
Or get out, get out walk. Get out walk. You got me shook up now talking about all this stuff.
Betty Busse
So all we've talked about is Christmas trees and Chex mix. Too much.
Bubba Busse
Yeah. I started thinking about that check mix.
Betty Busse
And I was like, I did do the tetrazeni, chicken tetrazinis and the lasagnas because a lot of times during the week of Christmas we have like an Italian night or something like that and sometimes we have people over and whatever and that kind of thing. So we got that done, too. That's one of our things. We usually do steaks on Christmas Eve. Got to get those sometimes. So, anyway, well, we.
Bubba Busse
I'm excited. I really am. And we're going to be taking a couple of weeks off. There's. There's that beep again. Somebody, if you want to drop me an email, tell me how to kill that without dropping it during this segment while we're taping. I would love that. And are you all right?
Betty Busse
Yeah, I'm hot. It's hot in here. I keep fanning.
Bubba Busse
You're hopping up and down.
Betty Busse
I was fanning my bag. I'm hot.
Bubba Busse
We'll get. Go through that switch right over there.
Betty Busse
That heat is a little much in here.
Bubba Busse
You.
Betty Busse
Since you had blood thinner years ago. We are complete opposite on the temperature.
Bubba Busse
Well, we are, but I haven't been playing with the temperature.
Betty Busse
Oh, I know. It's hot in here. Anyway, it's. Yeah, I was wearing shorts yesterday trying to cook in here.
Bubba Busse
Well, it. It is the Christmas season and we're, like I said, we're going to take a couple of weeks off to focus on family and. And we've got 40 podcasts out there. You can go catch up or relive some of your favorite ones, and we're going to be lining up some fun things for next year. I'm very excited about that and we appreciate all of your support for the podcast this year, and we'll talk more about that in a minute. But what was the show you told me about that Kevin Costner narrated? We saw it the other night.
Betty Busse
It was the first Christmas, I think.
Bubba Busse
That was really good. Yeah, that was really shocked how good it was. Yeah, they actually went by the.
Betty Busse
Bob, have your tissues ready because it'll kind of tug at your heartstrings. But, yeah, it was really good.
Bubba Busse
Did you tell me that was on ABC to begin?
Betty Busse
I think so, yeah. We watched it on Hulu.
Bubba Busse
But, yeah, I think I'm shocked ABC aired something.
Betty Busse
Well, I was, too. So good for them. Kudos for them.
Bubba Busse
So what was the name of it?
Betty Busse
Because everybody, I think it was the first Christmas.
Bubba Busse
The first.
Betty Busse
I think, yeah. If not, Google Kevin Costner Christmas and it'll pop up. Something will pop up.
Bubba Busse
So that. What a pleasant surprise to see that. And, you know, it kind of. We, we all know the story and, you know, we all visualize it a little bit different. But to see that. There was another movie a few years ago called Nativity.
Betty Busse
The Nativity. Yeah, it was good.
Bubba Busse
It was real good. But this one Was good because I think it really put in perspective the.
Betty Busse
The Jewish tradition kind of tied all that up. Yeah, right.
Bubba Busse
And how, what a struggle this was and how unique it was and how they went and you know, it really lays it out more than likely. You know, the shepherds were there that night, but the wise men didn't get there for a year or two.
Betty Busse
Well, that's what I really had never thought.
Bubba Busse
Or else they had to jump, you know, I don't know, it could be either way and it really doesn't matter to the story. But it's interesting to look at and to see it visualized I thought was really cool. And the fact that, you know, when we think stable, I think of my grandparents barn. But a lot of times that was a cave in.
Betty Busse
Yeah. So like a basement cave area for extra guests is what they.
Bubba Busse
So that and how young Mary was.
Betty Busse
Oh yeah. You know, I mean what was she, 14 maybe? Something like that?
Bubba Busse
They're estimating. Yeah, she was 14. Because they. People didn't live as long back then. And when you became of age that you could have children, people started getting married.
Betty Busse
Yeah.
Bubba Busse
So I just, you know what, what they went through is mind boggling really. And how it all worked out in the overall concept that a king in charge of the entire universe decided to get off his throne, come have the human experience if you would, and know what we deal with and build that bridge back to God, something we couldn't do ourselves. It's just, it's amazing. And I know people like to put religion all in one basket. Sometimes people don't want to deal with it. Well, religion is this and that. This isn't religion if you look at it compared to other religions. Because in other religions you're all. And I'm not bashing them, I'm just showing you the difference. You have to work your way to God. In this case, God worked his way to us because we were unable to work our way to him. And it's just incredible. It is mind boggling when you think about it.
Betty Busse
I don't think we know how to be thankful.
Bubba Busse
No, we don't. We don't. We can't even in my mind fathom the sacrifice that was made. And you know, the words that Jesus spoke on the cross, probably the most important that he ever spoke because he knew that would be recited for a long time. And when he said it's finished, the technical word in his language at that time was debt, paid in full. And it had several meanings. It was a business meaning, transaction done, debt, cleared, it's finished is accurate, but sometimes it doesn't portray the full power of what he said and what it meant at that time.
Betty Busse
Right.
Bubba Busse
It's just amazing.
Betty Busse
It is amazing. I mean, again, I don't think we know how thankful we should be.
Bubba Busse
Oh, I know. Every day. Every day. Well, Betty, thank you. I know you've got a lot going on, and I appreciate you taking time again to be on the podcast. You've done a wonderful job with that. You've done a wonderful job taking care of me. How about give it up for the.
Betty Busse
Lovely Betty Lou and let's hope we don't have any more patients next year unless I decide to swing back in action and do home health.
Bubba Busse
Well, we appreciate it and we appreciate all of you. Thank you, Betty. And we'll be back in just a minute with more Bubba on the Lake.
Betty Busse
Uh, where's Bubba?
Bubba Busse
I'll tell you where. He's on the lake.

Welcome back, everybody. It is Bubba on the Lake, and we are wrapping up our 40th podcast of the year. And we're going to take a little break, as I mentioned earlier, for a few weeks to enjoy the family. And then we have a lot of plans coming for first of the year. A lot of that we didn't get to this year because of my three surgeries on my knee. But I wanted to let everybody know we're doing great. We got the PICC line out several weeks ago, and we will be starting a little rehab here, probably first of the year, so don't know if I'm looking forward to that or not. You know how rehab is, if you've ever been to that. I like to call it the little shop of Horace. But it is a necessary thing to get full use of your leg back after our knee replacement. So again, just to kind of recap that, we had two infections after that, had to go back in and clean that out. And most of the time that's a 1 or 2%, you know, number of people that have that surgery have that problem. And I guess we just got lucky. So we were talking about it the other day. The Lord has a plan in all of it, so maybe we needed the downtime, who knows? But we're glad to see that that phase kind of pass on behind us, hopefully. So we're going to try to stay on top of it. And we'll still have to take some oral antibiotics for a while, but that's all right. It's. It's better than the PICC line, that's for sure. So we've had a great year here at the bussies. We've had our challenges, but most of you, we really appreciate everything that you've done. Supporting the program, supporting the sponsors, you're encouraging emails, you're encouraging calls to 308 Big Lake. And we always get those. We always have a lot of fun listening to them as a group. So keep those coming. And I appreciate Betty taking time to be on. And so good to hear from Don Juan DeMarco. I hope that you have enjoyed this Podcast. We have certainly enjoyed doing it. We want to remind you we are here in the mellow yellow studio and our website is bubbaonthelake.com the message line 308 Big Lake. You can drop me an email@bubbaonthelake.com Also, if you go to the website, we have merchandise on there. If you would like some Bubba on the Lake stuff or tailgate, tailgate show stuff, we have all of that on there just for that special person on your list that has everything, everything. And I know how that can be. And we can still get that to you if you order right away. But the cutoff date is coming very, very soon. Don't forget to subscribe, turn on notifications, all that stuff, and follow us on social media. So important nowadays in this new world of podcasting that you do all of that. It all plays into the metrics of how the show is listed and perceived and ranked and. And I don't know if I'd mentioned, but we had a recent. I think it's called PodTrack, the company that follows a lot of these podcasts. Speaking of that. And they have this podcast in the top 2%, and that's over four and a half million podcasts. So thank you. That is a awesome gift that you've given to us. And it counts. I mean, you. You get in there and you listen and you know, every minute that you listen counts. So we appreciate you being a part of that. And we're looking forward to 2026. I can't believe it's 2026. I remember when we had Y2K. Do y' all remember that? And we were saving water because we thought none of the computers was going to work when it flipped over to the year 2000 because we had to add an extra digit and da, da, da, and all that stuff. Boy, that was exciting time. But, you know, I look forward now. I remember thinking, what will the world be like if we're still here in 2010 or 2020? And here we are going into 2026. It's just crazy, and time is just flying by. But, guys, thank y' all so much. We'll go ahead and wrap it up right here. Look forward to picking up episode 41 at the first of the year. And we always covet your prayers and thank you so much for being along in this journey with us. So God bless you and your family. Remember the true meaning of Christmas. It's okay to enjoy all this other stuff. There's no need to get depressed over that. When you see presents and shopping and all of that. It's part of it. But just remember the real reason for the season and it'll help you get through it all, I promise you. I want to mention one more time our friends at Russell Lands who have come along and partnered with us. You talking about eat up with the Christmas spirit. They are. They have tools, decor and practical gifts that always hit the mark. I love the Do It Centers. I am a regular at several of them. From late life favorites to thoughtful stocking stuffers, Russell Lands has something for everyone this holiday season and they really do.
