In this episode Bubba and his son Hunter traveled with Stuart Brockwell of Surge Technologies, to go pick up his Tesla Cyber Truck near the Atlanta area. Hunter got to ride back and interview Stuart due to Bubba being under the weather when this was being recorded. Bubba also sits down with his wife Betty to talk to Stuart about different types of Teslas as well as the pros and cons of owning one,

B A on the lake hello again, everybody. Friends, neighbors and associates everywhere. Welcome to Bubba on the Lake. I am your semi retired, mostly washed up post, formerly of the Rick and Bubba show and now glad to be your host on Bubba on the Lake. I do. Well, we've got a great podcast today. This is one of those things that I'd look forward to doing. We walk step by step through our friend Stuart Brockwell. You hear him on here as the tech guy, the titan of tech from Surge Technologies in Birmingham, Alabama. And we walk through the process of him getting a cybertruck. So it's. It's a little tech heavy, I'll be honest with you. But it was really a cool process. We wanted to record the whole process. I ended up with a laryngitis while we were doing this. Couldn't do it. So we're kind of putting this back together in somewhat reverse order. Stuart is going to be here and me and Betty and I are going to talk to him about the cybertruck now that he's had it a few weeks. Then you're actually going to hear a few segments of Hunter interviewing him as they drive away with the truck from the Atlanta area. You actually pick them up in Kennesaw, Georgia. So that's kind of how it'll be. It'll be a probably a little bit longer podcast than normal, so I'll keep the opening short, of course. We're broadcasting from the Melayella Studio, aka the People's Podcast. Our website is bubonthelake.com my email, bubbaonthelake.com and we have our comment line 308. Big Lake, always good to hear from you. On all of that. We remind you to subscribe like turn on notifications. We don't want you to miss anything from the show. Also, follow us on social media. So we're going to kind of focus on the cybertruck trip for this podcast and we want to get right to it. We've got a lot to cover so we'll be right back in just a minute with Stuart Brockwell and we will describe the trip to get a cybertruck. Thanks for listening to Bubba on the Lake.

B
Well folks, we're back and Stuart Brockwell from Surge Technologies Birmingham has been to get a cybertruck.
D
Yes sir.
B
And we're going to share some of those. Some of that happening as it happened in just a minute, but Betty is here and she just got the tour. Let me ask you Stuart, now that you've had the cybertruck for a week and you've drove it around, give me your impressions.
D
Now I've had a chance to drive a couple of them in the past, but living with it is a little different and it is as good as all the people who love them say it is. It's smooth, it's, you know, it feels like you're stepping into, you know, a hundred years from now when you get in the vehicle. Fundamentally it's the same as any other Tesla. But the way that they implemented everything and packaged it all together in this futuristic, you know, cyberpunk way, it's just awesome. And it drives. We did a little bit of self driving earlier, Betty, you can talk about that in a minute. But I find myself manually driving it a lot just because it's so sporty and the steering is super tight and it's easy to control.
B
So I safe to say you're happy with your purchase?
D
Oh, extremely, yeah.
B
Now it's expensive.
D
It is, but when you.
B
But it. But it's not. If you look at comparable trucks and things, if you get a dually, you're, you know, you're gonna blow that up plus some.
D
No, it's not. We don't live in the world anymore where you can go out and get a, you know, a decent pickup truck for 39,000. It doesn't, doesn't, doesn't exist.
B
No, sadly. Betty, what did you think of the cybertruck?
E
Well, when you said futuristic, that's exactly. It looks like something from the Batman movie, you know, or maybe Back to the Future or something. You know, it's wild. And the self driving thing, even up our steep driveway was really cool. You know, it stayed right in the middle where it should.
B
And I know some people that don't always do that. You may have noticed the rut on the right side of our driveway where somebody goes up and peels out and then as muddy tires and declares it wasn't me. Who could that be, Betty?
E
Much better. I've not had muddy tires in a long time. But anyway. Yeah, so. So Bill will probably be eyeing, I'm sure, one of these. I doubt the truck. I don't know.
B
Well, I told you the story. I mean, I had the check out on the desk, I had the pen in hand. We got that close to getting the Oreo. The one that you said you wouldn't like with the white interior and the black outside. Yeah, they call it the Oreo.
E
You need to trade in the parade of cars that we have here first.
B
Well, they all have various missions and you know, we've got to tie that together. I mean, obviously a Y would fit my lifestyle better. The Model 3 I think would be more fun to drive. And the Cybertruck would be the ultimate because it handles all of it. But you know, you gotta, you gotta figure Out. Are we gonna be in the woods? Are we gonna be hauling something? Are we gonna be towing something? Are we gonna be driving, you know, two hours to work or you know, what, what's the plan? And you can kind of tailor it to that, I think.
E
Yeah, I didn't ask you this. Is it four wheel drive also?
D
Yeah. So it's so Tesla's. Tesla's are all wheel drive because there's not. This is getting into the technicalities, but there's two in my particular Cybertruck, there's two motors, one in the front, one in the rear, both six, both 300 horsepower to make 600 total. And so it engages the front motor and rear motor as it needs to when traction is necessary. So it's all, it's four wheel drive all the time. Not all Teslas are like that. You can get Model Y's and model Threes with front, with rear wheel drive only. And they're very efficient. You can push over 350 miles on a charge with those.
B
But I don't know about going up this driveway if it's wet. It can be trouble.
D
Tesla's traction control is really industry leading. But I mean to me there's not a huge price difference between the two and you lose about 20 miles on a charge and you get a whole lot more punch off the line which makes them fun to drive. So to me the dual motor makes the most sense.
B
The old punch off the line, huh?
E
So there's a dual motor in the Y also.
D
All the, all Tesla's, you can get a dual motor in all Teslas. You can get triple motors in their premium ones. The Cybertruck's one of those. But it's a big upcharge and you lose range. It doesn't, it's just for fun. It doesn't have any practical application. It's just for fun.
B
Well, we talked about it a little bit while we were driving a minute ago and I don't that. That'll probably be a video clip that we'll use to promote this, this edition of Bubba on the Lake. But Betty, think about this and I wanted to address it on the podcast with this self driving ability. It's supervised now, but we're very close to them cutting it loose and letting it drive itself. For elderly folks that may not be able to drive, but still needs to go to the store. You know, you can see how this will just open somebody's life up. It's like they have their own dedicated driver all the time.
E
Right? Yeah.
D
Tesla was promoting Go ahead.
E
No, you go ahead.
D
I was gonna say they were promoting this literally yesterday. You might could post the link to this bubba along with in the comments or something but they showed a video of a 95 year old woman who hadn't driven in five years which still that's impressive. Driving at 90, letting the Cybertruck drive her around for the first time.
B
And she got out at the market and went in and got her stuff she needed. That's think about other people too that have epilepsy and some of these things that keep them from driving. Well, you could have a new class of driver's license where you could command a self driving car, automated license like that. And Stuart, you said that if you know it monitors the driver now in the supervised mode, if you're not paying attention it beeps at you. But even if you were to have an episode where you passed out. Yes, it will. Once it determines the driver's not paying attention, it doesn't just stop it pull. It finds a safe place to pull over.
D
Yes, it will find a way to get off to the side of the road and pull over and stop. And this is, there's, there's several different stories you can read up on this where this has happened. You know, got somebody trying to get to the hospital, that kind of thing. And they, you know, I think I'm thinking of a particular one. I don't remember the name of the guy but he pulled over, he was, he was unconscious. The car pulled over and his, his brother was able to use find My friends to locate him and get to him and get him to the hospital.
B
You know, I was even thinking too, you mentioned that imagine you had four or five ambulances that were self driving.
D
Yeah.
B
And they come out to where there's been a horrific event, you know, a fire or something. They literally could load patients up and send them off, send them to the hospital while they're getting other people rescued. And that would require manpower and let the transport be automatic. I mean it's really the skies. We haven't even really thought about what all we can do with this stuff.
D
No, it's, it has just now become good enough to where you can consider it ready for use. And Tesla thinks they're ready. They've got cars running around in Austin with nobody in them and they're going to bring that. I mean there's nothing technologically different from the model Y you're looking at than the ones that are running around with nobody in them. They're the same vehicle. So it's just a software switch they have to flip to enable that. And I'm looking forward to it. I let it drive me all the way here for about an hour and a half. Drive to your place and you know, just, it was so relaxing. Just, you know, enjoy your Sunday afternoon. Just sit back, listen to a podcast, you know, and let the truck do the work.
B
Oh, that's great.
E
That's crazy.
B
Would you trust it to drive?
E
I don't know. It would take me a minute to trust it, I think.
B
You know, but you've learned to let other things take care of themselves, other automatic things in our life.
E
Yeah, I guess so.
D
It's like anything.
B
I mean, you don't have to carry clothes down to the lake and the washboard anymore. You got automatic devices to do that. Right.
E
I need one of those robots. He's coming. Stuff in the laundry.
B
That's why we need to get this car thing out of the way so we can be saving for the robot. I mean, that's the way I look at it.
E
Oh, me, I was going to say the elderly. Let's say the elderly lady gets to the grocery store. Well, what if she can't get out of the car by herself? She could have a robot with her and he could come around, help her out.
B
You could have one riding with you as a person. I mean, of course it's cost and you know, the cost versus what you can get out of it's always a factor, like anything now. But the fact that we have progressed to this and look, God bless him, Elon has pushed the edge of this. None of this would happen without him and pushing this and having the money to do it when nobody else would, you know, he was more concerned with the outcome than a profit on it. And it eventually will pay for itself, obviously.
D
I mean, 10 years ago when he, they started, you know, designing vehicles to do this, this is why. Have you ever ridden an Arivian? The other high end? I have one time, so I like those a lot.
B
Yeah, they're good looking vehicles.
D
They're good looking, they run well, they have some service issues. But so did Tesla at the beginning as well. But you got to think about, Tesla started selling cars in 2012. That was a long time ago.
B
Right.
D
And you, the cars back then didn't have this capability, but they started putting cameras on them in 2013, started learning. And why did they put the cameras on there? Because they weren't doing anything with them to start gathering data and they needed, they knew they were gonna need data to do this. And so they gathered data for almost a decade to be able to build this model to do what it does. And that's why Rivian's gonna be trying their best to do something similar, but they don't have the mileage under their belt that they need to do it.
B
All right, let's talk about the one elephant in the room here. And then we're gonna move on to y' all actually driving it when you got it. And the excitement in your voice in these other segments are great. I love it. I love it. So you don't think it looks good, the truck? It's, it's, it's a little boxy.
E
Yeah, it's boxy. I mean, I can see how guys like it. You know what I mean? It's more Yalls cup of tea once
B
you get in it and play with it. To me, it looks better the more you see what it'll do.
E
Impressed with the storage aspect.
B
It's got a ton of storage.
E
Yeah, that's great. And if it's truly waterproof, to put a bunch of suitcases back there to go on a trip or something.
D
So the bed that just. So they, they don't claim the bed is waterproof. It's water resistant like any truck bed.
E
Yeah.
D
The front and under all those under compartments, those are waterproof. But I've seen lots of people put stuff in the bed.
E
Oh, yeah, yeah. But, yeah, I think. I mean.
B
So, Betty, can I have one? That's the bottom line.
E
I knew that's what we were getting to.
B
Can. Can I keep him, Paul?
D
Oh, my gosh.
E
Like I said, the parade of cars up there on the road.
B
Yeah, let's look at. We got a few. We got something to do.
D
I've been saying. I've been saying it. The cybertruck makes a perfect swap for the Dually and the Model Y makes a perfect swap for what was. What's the car you drive, Betty?
E
A BMW. Yeah. X3.
D
That's a perfect swap for that. So, you know.
E
Yeah, so if you get the.
B
I don't know if we're. I don't know. Well, I don't know if we're a 2, 2 cyber car family at this point.
E
He's just saying if you're going to get one, either replace mine or replace yours. One or the other.
D
Exactly. Because they fill the same role.
E
Yeah. I don't know. Guess you could trade the Beamer and the cheap.
B
I couldn't help but notice that Tesla was offering 0.99%, which is basically free money. I Mean, I hate to bring that up, and even Dave Ramsey would admit that's free money.
D
Of course it is. Yeah. You're losing money, not doing it.
B
I know. I don't know. I don't know why I'm sitting here losing money right now. Hunter, why am I doing that? Why don't I get this done?
E
Yeah, Hunter, why didn't you already traded your Bronco in?
B
Well, we'll hear from Hunter.
E
Oh, my gosh.
B
All right, folks, we're going to take a break. We come back. We have a few segments of Hunter riding with Stuart as he gets his new cybertruck from Kennesaw, Georgia. I had Larry and John and I explained earlier on the podcast that we had this grand idea. We were going to go and we were going to record and do all this, and we had some great conversations. But what I could talk about on the way over there, Stuart, I want to address this, since I've got you here now. You, you shared with us on the way over there, and one, you're a titan of tech. You know a lot of stuff. But you forgot to filter in eastern time on our pickup.
D
You know, I guess I got too excited. Yeah. You know, I don't know. This happens to me. It's. I, I, it's the little stuff that gets me. I don't know why it's, you know, the, the time zone will get me or what was the other thing that
B
we had to do? Well, that was your driving test.
D
Okay, so I have to address this.
B
Stuart, let me, let me set this up. So I'm talking to Hunter and Stuart about dating, and I tell them the story of when I got my driver's license because I already had a date that Friday night on my birthday. So I was all, you know, I was ready to go. You know, here we go. And Stuart shared with us that you had flunked your driver's test how many times?
D
That would be nine.
A
Oh, my gosh.
D
That would be nine.
B
How can you flunk the driving test nine times?
E
You just get nervous.
F
It was.
D
I don't test well. So in school, in school, I had great grades, but it was always hard for me to do tests. Yeah, it's that, the pressure, you know, getting in.
B
That was excuse I used to.
D
But then, but then you had, you know, the DMV employees that, you know, you know how they are. You know, they're always in a sour mood, and they don't want to be there, and you feel like you're just being. They're just staring into Your soul the entire time. And so it was, it was.
B
The one I had was very pleasant.
D
Well, I didn't get that lucky. And we tried literally every DMV within like a 200 mile radius to figure this out.
B
So you went to all of them and flunked.
D
Went to all of them. And I failed for a different reason every time.
B
That's like. What was some of the reasons?
D
Well, it was either a three point turn, then I messed up or is either parallel parking, then I messed up, or it was either, you know, not, not quite stopping at a stop site. It was something different every time, which is just. That's that nervousness getting on you.
E
Yeah.
B
So, Stuart, that may be a record. I've never heard of anybody flunking nine times.
D
Well, my siblings. Were you. They. I.
B
Didn't they give you grief about it?
D
Yeah, they. Of course they did because they all got it first try.
E
Oh, well. Well, it all worked out now.
D
Well, now I don't have to worry about it. My truck just drives me.
B
Yeah, I started to say, don't you want to go back to those examiners now and say, hey, it parks itself.
C
I ain't got to worry about it.
D
It does make me wonder, in a world where vehicles drive themselves, how is, how are we going to do that? How are we going to change driving tests? Because you're going to have to.
B
Yeah, well, you'll probably have to have some basic skills, you know, and then, then let the car take over. But I do think we'll have another class of license where you can't drive, but you can ride.
D
I think we need it especially for
B
the elderly or those, you know, issues we mentioned earlier.
C
So.
B
All right, folks, we're going to take a quick break. We'll be back and we will hear Hunter and Stuart and you're going to hear the excitement in Stuart's voice as he drives his cybertruck off the lot. We'll be right back.

Hey everyone, you're probably wondering this isn't Bubba. Well, that's right. It's his son Hunter. And you're probably thinking, why is Hunter here? Well, he has laryngitis. I don't know if y' all saw the post from a couple days ago that we put out. Dad has laryngitis. So I am covering the Tesla field trip with the one, the only, Stuart Brockwell. Stuart, how are ya?
F
I am elated right now, Hunter, and my voice ain't doing too much better than your dad's. But I am here and we just picked up my new 2026 Tesla Cybertruck
C
and folks, it lives up to the hype. I know there are some people out there that say, oh, it doesn't look good. I personally, I kind of like the look of it. It reminds me of a game I used to play when I was younger. And the interior honestly is very, very spacious. It is very minimal as you can imagine with Teslas. So I really like this Stewart a lot. I mean it's very, very, very impressive. I'm very sat and I didn't even buy it.
F
Right. Yeah, I mean it has been a dream of mine for many years to get one of these. Been putting aside money for a while. It obviously is a company vehicle. It's going to do a lot of great work for my tech business. But it really is just an amazing piece of American innovation of stainless steel triangle on four wheels. But yeah, we are currently outbound from Atlanta on the way back to BHAM and the Truck is doing all the driving right now.
C
Yeah, we're currently in self drive mode. I have my phone in my hand. Stuart has his hands on his knees. And we're just enjoying the ride. And so far, so good. It's very. I mean, this is very like. This is a geek's paradise. I'll be on it like it is. It is the. It is a nerd's paradise, whatever you want to call it. It's very well made. The operating system in the car is very smooth. I'm very impressed. I'm more of a, you know, an Apple guy. I'm like my dad over PC. I know some people disagree with that, but in terms of like, you know, quality, this is like the Apple, of course.
F
Oh, yeah. I mean, there's no. There's other great evs out there. Rivian comes to mind, but even them, they don't have the smoothness and just the polish that Tesla's interface has. And when you're basically driving what is a computer on wheels, that software is what matters. And I think Tesla currently has the lead. There will. Will there be other great EV trucks down the road? Sure, I'm sure there will be. And especially as Tesla leads. Just like Apple is what Apple pushed Android to be what it is today. Android is so much better now than it was when it came out. And a lot of that is due to the polish of the iPhone, kind of pushing manufacturers to get there. So is this the only good option?
D
No.
F
But is it a great option for someone looking for an EV truck? Especially now that they have a cheaper version out there they just came out with, which we'll talk about later. It is a phenomenal vehicle.
C
Yeah, I agree. And I drive a Ford Bronco Sport, and I upgraded from, you know, a Hummer, which we were discussing on the way down here. I was making friends with a gas station attendant. Like, I went every, what, two times a week? It's crazy. And the gas mileage is way better on the Bronco Sport, but I've got some thinking to do now. Will I get one anytime soon? No, probably not. And it probably won't be a cybertruck because I probably. It's outside of my price range, but definitely something to look into for sure. Especially if you're looking into jumping to the EV world. This, you know, this is not a bad option. Like you're saying, like, is it going to be the only option in the future? Probably not. But as of right now, I think it is the best option.
F
Well, it is currently the only EV Truck or the only truck at all that can self drive. So if that's, if that's what you're after, if you're after a pickup truck that can also drive itself, you get one choice. But you know, is it, is it going to be that way forever? Certainly not. But there is certainly no more unique looking vehicle on the road. And it's very polarizing for a lot of folks. I realize that's a deal breaker for me. The bizarre looks is exactly the kind of thing I'm into. I drive an orange Jeep. Come on now. I mean, I'm already used to being looked at and so the more, the more attention the better.
C
Yeah, my car doesn't exactly scream loud. It's a very, you know, blue, you know, downtone blue, if you will. I think the official color was moon dust blue, which I just. That alone made me want to sign the dotted line. Yeah, but the things that turn heads are my, my brake pads, they sound awful. So that's just where you. My, the heads turn for my car. But yeah, we're again, we're in the self driving mode. And I am very impressed with this. We'll get an update from Stuart down the road. But this has been a very fun trip. It was something we had planned, dad and you had kind of.
F
We collabed a little bit on this one.
C
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
F
The delivery experience, how quick was that? Like we were like 10 minutes.
C
Yeah, 10 minutes max, maybe to get it, you know, out the door when we got there. And it's a very clean, I mean if you think of an Apple store, think that. But with a car or two in there and it's very clean. It's a minimal setup in there. It's just like the way their cars are made. They're very minimal. And it's a very cool, clean, futuristic yet modern at the same time experience. So I'm very impressed. But yeah, man. Stuart, you got any other thoughts?
F
You know, we'll check back in. We got a couple hours to drive, so we'll get on the road and get some thoughts together and we'll check back in.
C
Yeah, of course. This has been Hunter reporting on the Tesla field trip. I guess we can coin that now. I guess that'll be what we end up doing the episode in the post production. But yeah. You are listening to Bubba on the Lake.
A
You're listening to Bubba on the Lake. Hit me bad. A production of Intergalactic Pants and Tees.

We're back on Bubba on the Lake and yes, once again it is Hunter Bussy reporting from the cyber truck that Stuart Brockwell was Sear Technologies just bought in Georgia. Stuart, we're about an hour in and the charge level of like, you know, we put in my home address where you're dropping me off at. It has gone up since we have gotten in the car.
F
We're about, we left, we left at 100 state of charge. They were nice enough to fill us up and we are, we're about halfway, almost getting close to halfway and we have used about 23% state of charge. It originally estimated estimated us getting there at 44% and we are now at 51. It is adjusting its estimate as we regenerate power coming down these hills. So pretty cool to see the efficiency and estimates change here on demand. It's been raining really hard on the way and the truck has handled that just fine. Yes, it obviously detected the bad weather and has mentioned that to us a few times.
D
Yes, it has.
F
But it never slowed down or stopped or acted like it didn't know what to do.
C
Yeah. I will say the one thing that I've noticed that I really like is it monitors activity on the roads very, very well even before we even notice anything. So, for example, a few minutes ago, before we started recording, a truck was merging into the lane we were in. And it started to kind of slow down a little bit because it noticed it was going to merge. And then as soon as it did that, it basically thought, okay, I'm going to get in the other lane and past this truck. And it did with ease. It's crazy.
F
Literally, as you're saying that we just drove over a lane ending. Yeah, it started. The sign started showing up to say lane is ending.
B
Yeah.
F
And the truck recognized that and merged over, like, nothing. Butter smooth.
C
Yeah, it is very. It's exactly. That's the best way to describe it. Buttery smooth. This is. This is really cool. Like, I, I can't get over, like, I'm kind of geeking out over here how. Just smoot.
F
This is.
C
And you know, I'm honestly in awe. Like, I've been in a Tesla before, but not on like a long kind of road trip situation. So this is really cool. I'm very, very impressed.
F
It's been fun to see it react and deal with different things, but, yeah, just butter smooth. Butter smooth the whole way. And we've got about another hour or so predicted arrival, about 50% state of charge. So plenty, plenty of charge to get from Atlanta back to Birmingham and then some to go about my, my errands in town today, as I don't, I don't expect to have any issues with range, but, you know, a lot of people are concerned about that when they're looking at EVs as, oh, will it have enough range to get me where I'm going? Bottom line is if you don't charge, if you don't drive more than 300 miles in a day, which if you are, okay, fine, you're one of the. You might want to look at something gas. But if you're driving less than 300 miles a day, you got nothing to worry about.
C
Yeah, I, the charging time, I, I really like how it adjusts. And it's gone up since the. The Tesla shop in Georgia. And you know, it's. It kind of fluctuates here and there, but I mean, there's not much of a drop or you know what I mean? So it's. It's really cool to see everything just actively adjusting, like, as your trip progresses. So we'll have one more Update here in a little bit. You are listening to Bubba on the Lake.

You're listening to Bubba. Bubba on the Lake. You know one thing I love about Buffalo Wild wings? You can get wings with any of their 26 sauces and dry rubs for takeout and delivery. That's like bringing an entire B dubs home with you, which you can't do. I tried. I've knocked down so many walls only to then be told to halt construction because I'm not zoned to be a sports bar. Kind of just looks like a big pergola or something. Because of the lack of walls, at least these 26 sauces and dry rubs are available. To go. Buffalo Wild Wings. Let's go.

We're back with Bub on the lake. It's Hunter Bussy reporting again. We have made it back home to Birmingham at my house Stuart I am very impressed. We went self driving the whole way and honestly I'm very impressed with how it did. What are your thoughts?
F
Lots of rain, miserable drive as far as weather. But the car did fantastic. I mean so many cool maneuvers and and seeing it react to people and vehicles and objects, animals. Even school buses. We had one of those get in front of us at one point. Just a great experience. Ended up using just under 50% charge to get from there to here. Not bad at all. About 150 miles total. So not bad. What ends I guess. What were your kind of. This is your first time? I've self driven a few times with other tests, Teslas. This is your first time in the cybertruck for an extended trip.
C
What were your thoughts overall? I mean again I mean, the word I keep using is impressed. I'm honestly surprised of how well the charge was held on the way because I think they charged it with 100%, like before we went to pick it up.
F
Yeah, they topped it up to full before we left.
D
Yeah.
C
So I mean, the fact that, you know, it's 50% and it was kind of fluctuating like, like on the way. So it, I mean, it's cool to see that actively do that. So you have like more of a, you know, a gauge like every so often, like how much battery you're going to have. So that, that to me is kind of like the main. Was like the main concern and I'm, I'm, you know, impressed. I mean, it's cool to see they've
F
made a cool product and, you know, you don't have to buy the weird stainless steel triangle to get it. You can buy the regular cars too and get just the same exact experience. So it's, it definitely turned some heads. The people at the gas station were questioning why we were there. You know, that was, that was something. But, you know, gotta, gotta do that. Got the love. The kids getting off the school bus looking at it. That's always fun and it certainly is a whimsical machine. So anyway, I enjoyed the trip.
C
Yeah, yeah, me too. And one last thought. There was one little like, piece of debris out on the road, like we were taking a back road to get in my house and it. I didn't think it was going to pick it up. And it picked it up and there's a storm alarm going off. That's awesome because we're back in Birmingham as we're recording this. It's just, you know, one of those things. But, you know, I'm very impressed by it. And if you're, you know, thinking about it on the fence, about getting a Tesla either cybertruck, model Y, you name it, I highly recommend it. I know Stuart recommended. I mean, he's the owner of the car. So. What, like what, like what is, do you have to say to people that are on the fence about it?
F
Go drive one. Bottom line, we have, especially if you're here in Birmingham, we have it. We have a store downtown. Now, you can't buy them there, but you can demo them there. Go to the website, sign up for a test drive, they give you the car for an hour, no strings attached. Just get your butt in the seat and see if you like it, because you won't know unless you try. And like, I think I mentioned this on the last podcast, but I let my grandma drive one and she has. You would never think, you know, an 80, 83 year old woman and you know, who's set in her ways and who likes her gas cars would ever even consider it. And she went from somebody who was a skeptic to very interested. So, you know, you might not think you want it and you may not, but it never hurts to try. And test drives are free.
C
So, yeah, I mean, you can't beat a free test drive. I mean, they're fun cars. I test drove. But we mentioned on a podcast with Royce Emerson for those that, you know, have been, you know, longtime listeners of the podcast. A family friend of ours, we test drove his model Y and I, I liked it a lot. Dad liked it a lot. So, you know, we'll see. I mean, if we decide to, you know, I'm assuming I wouldn't be doing it because I can't. It's out of my price range. I just got a car not too long ago, so I'm content. But I am interested in one down the road for sure because the technology is only going to get better. But you know, who knows what will happen, you know, the next few years and knowing dad, I mean he's, he's one for doing some trade ins and stuff like that. So who knows what'll happen in the
F
next episode of Bubba. You never know. You never know.
C
Yeah, you never know. But y', all, thank you for following along and you know, keep dad in your prayers. He's got a little bit of laryngitis going on still, so. But yeah, other than that. This has been 100 Bussy reporting on the Tesla Field Trip 2026. And I'm saying it like it's an annual thing. It's not gonna be.
F
I can't afford one every year, man. There's no way.
A
No, no, no.
C
But again, you are listening to Bubba on the Lake. We will be right back.
