Hey everyone, it's Dean from the Midnight Mystery. I wanted to announce that I've created a brand new show that I'm really excited about and I think that you will love. It's called End of the Loop, a dark psychological audio drama about time trauma and what happens when you finally escape a time loop. Here's the trailer. My name is Ethan and I was trapped in a time loop. Not for days or months or even years. For so long I forgot what real time felt like. I stopped counting after a while because. Because what was the point? Nothing changed. Nothing ever changed. Every day, the same town, the same people, the same monsters hiding behind familiar faces. I watched, I listened. I learned everything. Every lie they told, every evil, messed up thing they did when they thought no one was watching. And then one day, I was out. I don't know why, I don't know how, but I'm free. And now I'm going to use everything I know to take them down. End of the Loop is a Midnight Mystery production. Search for End of the Loop on your favorite podcast platform.

Bunker 8 is a horror and sci fi audio drama that explores disturbing themes and intense moments. Some content may be unsettling for certain listeners. Listener discretion is advised. The Midnight Mystery Presents Bunker 8 Season 2 Episode 7 A Way Back Repeat. Security protocol activated. Unauthorized personnel will be terminated. Go. Get out of here. He's done. The fight's gone from his eyes. You're giving up? Is that what you really want? Giving up? I've been done for a long time. This. This is just the end of the road. You think I don't know what's coming? I can feel them clawing inside me. Every second is like being torn apart. God. There's no point in arguing. He's made his choice. And I get it. I've seen this before. People who. He'll reach the end of the rope. The look in his eyes says it all. He's. He's not here anymore. Not. Not really. But I want to say something, but I don't know what. Nothing I say is going to make this better. He's in pain. And he doesn't want saving. He just wants it to stop. I can feel my hands clenching into fists. The chains rattle as he struggles. And I don't know if he's still fighting or if it's just his body reacting. He's not looking for a way out. He's looking for an end. And I understand. I really do. I turn and I don't look at him again. There's nothing left to say. I turn and walk away. Leaving him behind. In that. In that room. I can't afford to slip up. The security team is going to be everywhere. And if they find me, I'm done. They won't ask questions. They won't hesitate. I'll be dead before I can say a word. I need to move fast. Quiet. Invisible. There's no margin for error. The other side of the bunker. It's my only shot. If I'm gonna make it, if I'm gonna survive this, I need help. And the only person that can help me is Violet. Violet, are you there?
Laura Hamilton
I'm here, Jack. What's going on?
Dean Smythe
I need you to hold off the security team. I'm heading for the room on the other side of the bunker. The. The room I woke up in. If they find me, it's over. Just. Just give me a chance to prove that I am who I say I am.
Laura Hamilton
I can't do that.
Dean Smythe
Shit. What do you mean you can't? You've got the comms. You could redirect them, send them somewhere else.
Laura Hamilton
It's too late, Jack. They're already in motion. Orders are clear. Terminate everything inside bunker three. That includes you.
Dean Smythe
So that's it? You're just gonna let them sweep this place clean?
Laura Hamilton
Yes.
Dean Smythe
Vali. Do you even know what's coming out of the well? They're people, Violet. Or. Or they were people from different times, different realities. The world takes them, tears them apart and stitches them back together into. Into. Into those things.
Laura Hamilton
I know.
Dean Smythe
You knew? Jesus, of course you did.
Laura Hamilton
Yes. That's what this bunker is for, Jack. To hold them back.
Dean Smythe
So that's your answer? You place an anti aircraft weapon at the top of a well and kill whatever tries to crawl out.
Laura Hamilton
It works, Jack. There are infinite realities. An endless number of versions of us, of them. The company doesn't know how to control it. This. This is the best they could come up with?
Dean Smythe
So what happens then? What happens when something makes it out of this place? Escapes into the real world?
Laura Hamilton
The creatures aren't like us, Jack. They're broken. They don't think, they just react. And if even one of them gets out of here.
Dean Smythe
That's not true. I spoke to one. The thing Emily had locked up. I talked to knew things, Violet. It wasn't mindless. It was someone.
Laura Hamilton
And what did you see, Jack? Really see?
Dean Smythe
It was in pain. Like it was fighting itself. Voices, memories, tearing at it.
Laura Hamilton
And what do you think would have happened if it wasn't chained up? If Emily hadn't locked it down?
Dean Smythe
Would have torn me apart.
Laura Hamilton
Exactly. That's what they do. The pain they're in, it doesn't stop. It can't stop. So they lash out at anything near them. Anyone. Not because they're monsters, Jack, but because it's all they have left.
Dean Smythe
You're quick to believe that, but. But you wouldn't believe me. You talk about alternate realities like they're a fact. Creatures stitched together from people across time. And yet when I tell you I'm from 2024, I'm the one who's crazy.
Laura Hamilton
Because we've never had someone wake up in the bunker before, Jack. Never.
Dean Smythe
What's that supposed to mean?
Laura Hamilton
It means I don't know what you are. For all I know, you are one of them. One of those things that crawled out of the well. Maybe the well spat you out whole this time. Maybe you're a version of someone else. Or just another piece of it.
Dean Smythe
Jesus Christ. I'm. I'm not one of them. I'M still me.
Laura Hamilton
Are you?
Dean Smythe
Yes. I didn't crawl out of the well. I woke up here. I didn't ask for this, Violet. I'm not one of those goddamn things.
Laura Hamilton
Then prove it.
Dean Smythe
I have proven it. I killed those creatures, Violet. I jumped on the weapon when Emily killed herself. I stopped them when no one else could. And you know it. Violet, are you still there?
Laura Hamilton
You need to get to that room. Even if you're not one of them. Jack, I can't stop them. I'm sorry. Jack.
Dean Smythe
God damn it. I'm wasting my time with her. There's nothing she can do, okay? I've got this. Long corridors, tight corners, open fields of fire. Okay? I've seen worse. I've survived worse. You've got this. Oh, shit. There they are. So, sector three cleared. Moving to sector four. Four man team 1.2 flanks, one rear. Moving in sync, like they've drilled it 100 times. Khaki uniforms, high collars, wool coats, those clunky steel helmets you only see in old war photos. M1 carbines at the ready, trigger fingers tight. They're ghosts from another time. And they don't look like the head ass. Questions. All right, if I stay here, I'm boxed in. I need to get to the other side of the bunker, but the main corridor's a death trap. It's way too open. If even one of them turns around and sees me, I'm dead. Alright, screw it. Wait for the next pass. Stay low, cut through the comms room. It's risky, but it's the fastest shot I got. Gotta time it just right. Okay. Breathe. Wait for them to pass, then go. Next section's clear. Corridor widens. Up here. It's a straight shot. There's no cover, but it's long exposed. Oh, shit. End of the hall. There's one of them, but they're facing the other way. He hasn't seen me yet. Half second window, maybe less. If he turns, I'm done. There's no other way. I'm gonna have to charge at him. Okay. Okay. He got this. Hesitate and I'm dead. He sees me. He fires. That's it. Wait for it. Go. A charge. Fast, heavy steps. I hit him hard. Shoulder first. Slam him into the wall. Momentum. Knee up into the ribs. Solid impact. He's gasping. Disarm. Neutralize. Move. He's fighting. Barely a few seconds. Pin him harder. Use the wall. Stay down. His body slumps. He's out cold. Search him. Okay, standard kit, rifle, sidearm, comms. No time for the rifle. Take the sidearm. Safety off. Clip full. Good. They'll find him soon. I need to move, and fast. Back down the corridor. Stay low. Boots steady. Every second counts. Report. Jacobs, come in. Jacobs. Team, investigate sector four. Jacobs isn't responding. They know where I am now. Okay, it doesn't matter. I'm still ahead of them. Now at Verizon, we have some big news for your peace of mind. Okay, there it is. Just right ahead of me. I've got this. Please let there be something. Come on. Open, you bastard. Jesus Christ. The door's heavier than I thought. And it feels like it's taking forever to push open. I need to get inside fast. Gotcha. What the hell? The room's small. There's nothing special in here. There's one light overhead, flickering and buzzing. The walls are just bare concrete. It's empty. Shit. Come on. There has to be something here. I look around and there's nothing. No consoles, no equipment, no answers, just nothing. My chest tightens. Why is it empty, though? Did Emily clear it up before I got here, or was this just a huge waste of time? Was there never anything here to begin with? No. Emily said that there was something in this room. Something that she didn't tell me. What am I missing? I scanned the corners, the walls. Anything I missed? Come on, come on. Anything? Shit. They're right outside the door. Okay. Okay. Shit. What am I gonna do? Violet? She's the only one that can help me right now. Violet? Violet, are you there?
Laura Hamilton
Jack, what's happening?
Dean Smythe
Listen to me. You've got to buy me some time. I just need an extra minute.
Laura Hamilton
Jack, what are you.
Dean Smythe
You said it Yourself. I'm not supposed to be here. So what happens if I die here?
Laura Hamilton
Violet, what are you talking about?
Dean Smythe
Think about it. I time travelled. I'm in 1952. So if I'm here, who's in bunker eight back in 2024? If I die here, then what you're saying, it's a paradox, it doesn't make sense, and I just need time to figure it out. Something's here, Violet. I just need a minute.
Laura Hamilton
You don't have a minute, Jack.
Dean Smythe
Then give me one. Shit. Shit.
Laura Hamilton
Hold tight. This is Command. Creature movement detected. Sector D, northern corridor. Repeat, northern corridor. Sweep that area immediately.
Dean Smythe
Copy that. Redirecting now. She's. She's done it. They're moving away. Heading back to where they came. They. They boarded. For now, at least. They're probably heading towards George. Two shots. Quick. Clean. George asked me to leave. But that doesn't make it easier. He's just another face that will stay with me. George didn't stand a chance. But. But he didn't want one. That's what he said. He. He was already gone when I left him. Hopefully he's in a better place right now. Thank you, Violet. I really mean it.
Laura Hamilton
Don't thank me yet, Jack. Whatever you're looking for, find it fast.
Dean Smythe
She's right. They're not gone. They're circling back. And I've got maybe a minute before they breach this room. Okay, There has to be something here. Okay. Okay. I need a starting point. Focus on the details. The edges, seams, anything out of place. This room's too clean. And clean rooms, they hide things. My body feels weird in this room. There's. There's something about it. There's something in here. I raise my hand, just slightly, testing the air. And that's when I see it. An afterimage, A faint blur of my hand. It's. It's still catching up. Like it's trailing behind in slow motion. Maybe half a second late. I do it again, slower this time, my fingers moving, and once more. It's not a reflection, not a trick of the light. It's like the room isn't processing time right. Like it's lagging, delayed. Or maybe I'm delayed, I don't know. I hold my breath and do it again. My hand trails just a little further this time. Whatever this place is, it's not just some empty concrete box. It's glitching. Area cleared. One room remains. Shit. They're coming back. I can hear them. Closer this time. If Violet brought me 60 seconds, I've burned through 50 of them already. He's in there.
Laura Hamilton
Breach.
Dean Smythe
The door. Okay, they're right outside. There's no more time. I draw my sidearm, grip tight, finger on the trigger. The weight is steady, grounding me. If I'm going down, I'm taking them with me. I move to the side of the door, pressing my back against the cold wall. My breath slows, muscles tense. They're not coming in yet. Splinters and chunks of metal fly past me, but I hold my ground. I keep my body tight against the wall. Just out of line of fire. Bullets punch through the room. And that's when I see it. One of the rounds hits the back wall, and instead of burying itself in concrete, it. It disappears. The air shimmers. A strange ripple spreading where the bullet made contact. There it is. What I've been looking for. The wall looks warped, like. Like the air is bending, pulling inward. I need to get to. Doesn't make sense, but. But nothing here does. If it's way out, it's my I'm out. Okay, I. I need to make a run for it. I push forward, every step bringing me closer to that strange bending shimmer. Damn it. I've been hit. My arm burns. Painful, but. But it's nothing I can't handle. I push through it, eyes locked on the back wall. They're reloading. Okay, now's the best time to go. The room feels like it's pulling away. Everything else is just background. I'm almost there. One last step. One last shot. And then I jump.
