availability various 18 January 1981. Three people are sitting in a room with a tape recorder, a bible and a single candle. There's a woman laying flat on her back, slowly falling into a trance so deep that her friends genuinely believe that her soul was leaving her body. And then a voice comes through her and it says, I am Ra. I greet you in the love and in the light of the infinite creator. Over the next three years, that voice answered questions across 106 recorded sessions. It explains the structure of the universe, the purpose of human existence, the construction of the pyramids, an ancient planetary war, and even what Bigfoot is. But then the project ended with a tragedy that the people involved believe was caused by whatever was in that room. This is the story of, of the raw tapes and the law of one. So sit back, relax, and welcome to camp. What's up, people? And welcome back to camp. My name is Mark Gagnon and thank you for joining me in my tent where every single week we explore the most interesting, fascinating, controversial stories from around the world. From all time, forever. Yes, that is what I do on this channel every single week. Twice a week, maybe three times, one day. Right, Christos? Absolutely not. No time for that, Christos, because we're talking about something wild. And that's what I do here. I jump into all of the craziest, most wild theories and deep dives that I could find on the Internet. I was raised by a conspiracy theorist, so I've lived my entire existence ingratiated into these theories, different ideas, esoteric knowledge, mysteries of the universe. And this show is a way for me to try to understand my own life as well as the world that we all live in. I almost view this show as like a sports center for conspiracy theories and mysteries. You know, I'm not here to convince you one way or another. I just want to lay out all the facts in an unbiased way. And you can do with it what you will. Now, today we have a fascinating topic. It is truly one of the most most interesting ones I've read about. I first came across this. I was scrolling on Reddit And I found a subreddit called the Law of One. And I was like, what is this? And I, like, dove into it. And it's this interesting form of people are, like, sharing these tapes and their ideas about what it all means. And I was like, what is this from? I started reading into it. I was like, this is crazy. And then I got sidetracked with life. And then I go to a show in Denver, and I link up with none other than Corey Sandhagen, the UFC fighter. And he goes, dude, camp is fire. Have you done an episode on the raw material or the Law of One? And I was like, no, but I've read about it. And he goes, look into it, dude. It's crazy. Also, that guy Christos is great. I don't know if he mentioned that, but this is finally my deep dive. So shout out to Corey. Thank you so much. I appreciate you for putting me on and giving me the push that I needed to jump into the raw material. Now, what is this? These people that are channeling this entity, this being that explains all the secrets of the universe, and what are the secrets? What does it say about us? Well, before we can understand the material, we have to understand the three people who produced it, and potentially the three, plus the alien intelligence, but specifically the three people that we can document, because this is where the strangeness really all begins. First you have Don Elkins. He was the scientist. Born in Louisville in the 1930s. He held four university degrees. He served in the army during the Korean War, and he spent 12 years as a professor of physics and engineering at the University of Louisville. He literally founded the mechanical engineering department at the University of Alaska. This is not some random kooky dude. This is a tenured physicist. But Don had an obsession that didn't fit into the resume. He was obsessed with UFOs and reincarnation. And in 1965, he walked away from his very comfortable job as a tenured professor to give himself more time to research the paranormal. And in order to pay the bills, in the meantime, he becomes a commercial pilot and eventually a Captain flying Boeing 727s for Eastern Airlines. So think about that. The man asking the questions on these tapes spent his days flying passenger jets and his evenings investigating extraterrestrial contact. And also has a bunch of degrees and is a very legitimate academic in his own right. And then, of course, there's Carla Rueckert. She's the person who actually channeling the voice. Born in 1943, she had degrees in English literature and library science and actually Worked as a librarian, and was a trained vocalist. She joined Don's meditation group in 1962 and became his full time research partner in 1970, and the two of them founded LL Research, LL standing for love and Light, which is essentially the place where all of this material is housed. And by 1974, Carla had started what's called conscious channeling, meaning that she would relay messages while she was awake and aware. And now the third person in the story is Jim McCartney. Jim was the most unlikely. He was born in Nebraska in 1947, and he had a business degree and a master's in education. But then in 1974, he did something that most people only fantasize about. He moved into the Kentucky wilderness, built his own log cabin by hand, and just basically lived off the grid. He literally was just like living off the land that he was around in the wilderness in Kentucky. So he meets up with Don and Carla in 1979 and then joins them in December of 1980. And this is the part that matters. Jim joined in December of 1980. The raw contact began three weeks later. So for 20 years, Don and Carla had been running channeling experiments that produced, at best, vague kind of philosophical mush. But the moment Jim joined the group, something fundamental changed. Ra later described Jim's role as a kind of energetic battery that the contact apparently needed. Hey, real quick. Most people who watch this channel aren't subscribed. And when you subscribe, you help the channel grow, and you stay in the loop with every new drop, Religion, Camp, History Camp, and Camp Gagnon. Now let's get back to it. So when people hear that Don and carla channeled for 20 years before 1981, they picture like 20 years of silence followed by like, this random alien voice that's now telling them the secrets of the universe. That's not really what happened. They had been getting answers the whole time just from somebody else. So starting around 1974, the group began making contact with sources that all identified themselves as belonging to the same organization. And they called it the Confederation of Planets in the service of the one infinite creator. So love and light research just calls it the Confederation. You can basically think of it as like, this is a galactic alliance of positively oriented civilizations, beings who've moved past human levels and whose entire stated purpose is to just help humanity. And according to them, they came to Earth for one reason. The harvest is near, and they're here to help as many souls as possible make the jump. And these weren't one off context. They happened so much that the team of researchers actually learned their name. Hatton was part of what the group called fourth density, the density of love. And a density is essentially the consciousness level that the being is at. So Hatton comes across as warm, philosophical, down to earth. And in the introduction to book one, it's. It's basically this being, Hatan who lays out the whole mission, Describing itself bluntly as one of the harvesters sent to gather the souls that are ready to move on. And then, of course, you have Latui. This is a part of the fifth density group. This is the density of wisdom. Latui is more scientific, more analytical, and a lot of times, like, kind of funny and unpredictable. Ra would later refer to Latui as the comforter. And then, of course, there are others like Oxal and Yam and Leitos. And that is the basis of those first two decades. But here's the thing. Ra was a member of that same confederation. Same alliance, same mission, same harvest. So Ra sat two full densities higher than Hatton inside the 6 density instead of the 4th. And it would only communicate through a method none of the other ones required. And this was a deep trance. So that difference is the reason why people in that room knew that something had changed. It also explains the cosmology that we're going to get into a little bit later. Like the council of Saturn and the quarantine and the harvest. Those aren't Ra's own ideas. That's the confederation's framework. And Ra was detailing everything that was planned for the future. So getting into actually talking with Ra, One of the most overlooked things about the Ra contact is that nobody was actually trying to contact this being. On January 15, 1981, the group was running a routine teaching session for one of the members of their Sunday meditation circle, who was actually learning how to channel. And dawn sat in to observe, and Carla went to her usual trance state to help the demonstration. But instead of the usual vague confederation messaging, Something very different came through. A being started to speak through Carla and identified itself as Ra. And it spoke in a way that none of the other contacts ever had. It was direct and structured and willing to answer technical questions in detail. Now, the whole thing started as a training exercise that just kind of went sideways. It wasn't summoned directly. It just kind of showed up. So who or what rather, was on the other side? Well, it was raw. And raw says that it's not a single being. It kind of calls itself a social memory complex. Bank NA essentially a hive mind. A collection of billions of individual souls who have evolved to the point where their consciousness is has merged with one shared awareness. So when Ross says I, it means all of them at once. It's almost like talking to like AI back in the 80s, you know, like the way you talk to AI and AI will be like, you know, I think this, it's like, okay, I is actually just like the collective data of everything that's ever been collected by chat GPT, for example. So Ross says it evolved on Venus, which is sort of interesting because there's a very real group of scientists who think that life is possible in Venus's atmosphere. But that's a tangent. Ra also claimed that they helped build the pyramids using thought power, but left when the Egyptians distorted their teachings into a religion of elites and a priestly class. And if you know anything about Egyptian history, you probably heard the name Ra, because that is the actual name of the Egyptian sun God. Now maybe that's a coincidence, or maybe that's evidence that these researchers were familiar with ancient Egyptian history. Or maybe it's proof that Ra has been here before. Now, as we mentioned earlier, Ra is a part of this sixth density, and we're going to get into the full density ladder in a second. But the short version is that Ra describes itself as roughly two whole evolutionary tiers above present day humanity advanced enough to merge minds across an entire species, advanced enough to speak across dimensions, but not advanced enough to stop making mistakes. And it's surprisingly honest about the mistakes that it made on Earth. In fact, Ra admits that its attempts to fast track humanity's spiritual evolution has backfired a bunch of times. I mean, first was the pyramid mistake. So while Ra helped construct the pyramids as an instrument of healing and initiation meant for everyone, it failed to take into account just the nature of human greed. So according to this account, Ra watched as Earth's rulers co opted the structures and turned them From a tool of universal unity into a massive symbol of exclusion and, you know, elite power and divine hierarchy. There was also the deification mistake. By manifesting physically to teach the law of one directly, Ra accidentally fueled the exact opposite of its message. Instead of absorbing the the philosophy of universal equality, humans did what humans do. They worshiped them. They turned Ra, Instead of a being of great wisdom there to help humanity, sort of in collaboration, Human beings turned Ra into the sun God and ultimately formed an entire hierarchy of religion. Ra admits that as a harmonious social memory complex, which, again, is how it refers to itself, a social memory complex. It simply didn't grasp the human capacity for elitism and tribalism and polarization and greed and distortion of power. So by handing over advanced concepts and tools as shortcuts, Ra accidentally fueled the very inequality that it was trying to cure. So because of this, Ra went away and left its physical form. And the collective realized that handing humanity shortcuts only distorts the natural evolution, which is why Ra now limits itself to communicating through very narrow, carefully guarded channels, determined never to repeat the same mistakes of ancient Egypt. Now, the Ra contact wasn't conscious channeling like Carla normally did. It's a little different. It's subtle, but it's called trans channeling. Ra's claim was that during sessions, Carla's spirit actually left her body, and Ra used her empty physical vessel from a distance to operate her mouth and produce the answers. Ra said it only had the grossest control over her body. It sometimes couldn't even reposition her hands when her arthritis flared up, because it didn't actually have fine motor control over a body that it was controlling because her spirit was supposedly out of her body, Ra insisted on an exact ritual protocol to protect her, because if you get it wrong, and the warning was very blunt, her spirit may never make it back into her. So here's how the ritual worked. You would have an altar or, like, a small table positioned at the head of the channeler. And then you would have a Bible open specifically to the gospel of John, chapter one. The in the beginning was the word, and the word was God. The word, or the word was with God. The word was God, that passage which is said to symbolize the one. And then a white candle placed behind the book, a chalice of water on one side, basically like, you know, incense on the other side. And then Carla lying in a white robe with her eyes covered and her body aligned along a line that Ra specified down to the angle. Now, even crazier, Ra actually gave a Specific schedule. If a session was held after sundown rather than in daylight, Karla had to be called into trance before the artificial lights were switched on. And that's how serious this entity was about these rules. Now, the toll that these sessions had on Carla was visible. She was already living with, like, very severe arthritis and kidney problems, and the sessions eventually caused her weight to drop to, like, £80. She was extremely thin. Ra eventually told the group that Carla was running on borrowed energy and that continuing these sessions would eventually kill her. Specifically, Ra refers to her body as the yellow ray, physical vehicle. And in the realm of chakras, this is seen as the physical body. But that didn't stop the sessions. The group was so desperate for the message that Ra was sending that it continued. But what were they actually after? Now, if you strip away all the cosmic beings and the ancient Egypt story, the entire philosophy comes down to a single sentence that everything is one thing. You, me, the person that you hate, the homeless guy in the corner, the French fry. Like, that's in between, like your car, like the chair of your car, and like the console. Like, all of that is the infinite creator experiencing itself from a billion different angles. Every separation that you perceive is what Ra calls distortion. So it's not a lie, but it's kind of this intentional fragmenting so the creator can know itself through the eyes of its own pieces. That is the law of one. Unity is the baseline. Everything that is not unity, that's illusion. But the illusion is kind of where it gets fun. So Ra maps all of existence into seven densities, which are the levels of consciousness that we mentioned. Each one holds a denser concentration of light and awareness than the last. So you can think of as, like, the hierarchy that the soul moves through as it learns and progresses to higher levels. So first you have the first density. This is the raw elements. So earth, air, water, fire. You know, like, what is it? Avatar stuff, Pokemon energy cards, Pokemon energy cards, all that stuff. The basic building blocks. Become aware that they exist. And then the second density, that's biological life. So you have plants, animals, their instincts becoming sharp, and the first signs of individual self awareness. And then you have the third density. That's us. That's human beings. Ra calls this the density of choice, and it considers it the single most important and most difficult level on the entire ladder. And I'll explain why in just a second, but keep going through the fourth density. This is the density of love and understanding. Remember, this is where that being Hatton resides. This level is where compassion becomes the dominant principle. And beings can read each other's thoughts. They have telepathy. And then you have the fifth density. It's the density of wisdom and light. Then you have the sixth density, and this is the density of unity, where love and wisdom finally balance. And this is where Ra actually resides. And then you have the final level, and that's the seventh density. And this is the gateway. This is where the soul rejoins the creator and the cycle is complete. Hey, guys, we're gonna take a break really quick because I want to talk to you about gld. This is an awesome new company that we're working with that I'm actually wearing right now. I actually got this crucifix right here. And honestly, even just getting it, you know, sometimes, like when you work with some companies, you're like, all right, I really hope the product is good. This one is. I. I wear it all the time. This is actually like the new crucifix. I lost my last one at a bathhouse. Literally at a sauna. I lost my crucifix, which is maybe God's way of telling me something. But I got a new one from gld and I've been rocking it non stop. My wife likes it, and it's got, like, a nice weight. The details actually look better in person. The clasp is, like, super solid. It doesn't feel like something you bought, like, in Times Square from a random dude. It doesn't feel like something you order from, you know, some sketchy website on Teemu. And they got everything. Chains, pendants, bracelets, watches. Whether you want something subtle or something that's like, yo, I just. I just signed a deal, you know, I mean, if you want like the record deal chain, they got that too. Now, if I haven't convinced you yet, let me sweeten the deal a little bit. All right? For a limited time, the listeners of this program, Camp Gagnon, Religion, Camp, history Camp, and the entire camp universe, you're getting a crazy deal. If you use the code Camp C A M P when you check out, you're going to get 40% off your entire order@gld.com. that's 40% off your whole order with the code camp at checkout@gld.com and after you purchase, they're going to ask where you heard about gld. Tell them you heard about them from, you know, the good folks here at the campsite Mark and Christo sent you. And whenever you do that, it really helps, you know, support the show. And thank you so much to GLD and thank you to you for tuning in. Let's get back to the show. Now those are the seven levels of, I guess, density, right? This sort of like spiritual consciousness vibration. Now Ra says that the third density, the one that we're on right now, human life is the most difficult. And this density exists because of one reason. We have to make what they call the choice. Now there are only two valid ways to pass this level. You can either choose the path of service to others, the positive love based path. And to graduate this way, Ross says that you need to be at least 51% oriented towards serving others. Just over halfway, you tip the scale towards love and you've passed. Or you can choose service to self. This is the negative path, built on control and, and domination and manipulation. And this is the part that people find fascinating. The negative path is a legitimate route forward, but the bar is brutal. You need to be in 95% service to yourself in order to graduate. So you need to basically be in like pure, total commitment to yourself. If you're 80% committed to yourself and 20% committed to other people, most people will be like, oh, you're kind of a, a hole. Well, that's still not good enough. To pass this test. You need complete commitment to selfishness. Ra's basically saying that being mostly decent is, you know, good enough to pass the test while being evil requires like near perfect dedication.
D
Like you.
B
If you're going to go like the selfish path, you can't be lukewarm. If you land in the middle where you're not loving enough, you're not ruthless enough, you don't graduate at all. You repeat the third density and you get held back by like the cosmic grade, I guess. Now this whole sorting happens during something that Ra mentioned earlier. This is the harvest, a roughly 75,000 year cycle at the end of which souls move up or they repeat. Now according to Ra, Earth is right at the tail of one of those cycles right now. Now, just a fun little tidbit. Ra isn't the only one claiming that we're in the end times. So in ancient Hindu cosmology, time isn't a straight line. It's a repeating cycle made up of four distinct eras called Yugs. And according to this Hindu philosophy, we are currently living deep inside the fourth and the final era. This is the Kali Yug. Now this is often translated to the Age of Darkness or the Age of vice. And the Kali Yug is a time of intense spiritual decline and corruption and materialism and greed and a total disconnect from all the higher truths. It is the rock bottom of the cosmic cycle where humanity is at its most divided and chaotic time. And then ultimately it is reborn and then repeats. But here's where it perfectly kind of mirrors this Ra teaching. So just like Ra describes the harvest as a repetition at the end of this 75,000 year cycle, Hindu philosophy doesn't view the end of the Kali Yug as an apocalypse. It just sees it as a cosmic reset. When the Kali Yug finally collapses under its own toxic weight, you know, humanity basically graduates, the wheel turns and we transition back into the Satya Yug. This is the golden age of truth and unity and enlightenment. So whether you're listening to this channeled entity called Ra or reading ancient Sanskrit texts from thousands of years ago, the core message here is the same. Things will get incredibly dark and messy right before we actually level up as a species. Now, Ra didn't just give information about the Law of One, how to advance spiritually. He also told ancient cosmic stories. Ra describes a negative sort of, you know, self obsessed confederation operating mostly from fourth and fifth density called the Orion Group. Literally seen as like bad guys. Their entire project is finding planets to harvest negatively. And their method isn't laser beams or some battle or war. It's through manipulation. They work through powerful people, billionaires, elites, power structures, psychic pressure. And Ra claims there were a constant interfering presence during the sessions themselves. That as Ra was channeling through Carla, that the Orion Group was trying to stop them because they didn't want them to actually wake up to this knowledge. Ra also says that Earth sits inside a kind of spiritual containment field called the Quarantine, which is maintained by something called the Council of Saturn. Now this probably sounds wild to you because it kind of is, but this is what the philosophy of the Law of One proposes. That the purpose of this quarantine is to protect human free will and to prevent the Orion Group from rolling in and taking over. And that they can only act where individual humans invite the energy in. And then you have wanderers or the original starseeds. Ra claims that many people walking around Earth right now are actually fifth and sixth density beings who volunteered to incarnate here under one rule, that they forget who they are when they arrive. They're here to gently raise the planet's vibration during the harvest. Ra estimates that there are millions of wanderers on Earth right now. Well, interestingly, with this whole story, this is the origin point for the entire modern starseed subculture. So I don't know if you've seen these Tiktoks of like these people telling you that like you're a Palladian or you're a Syrian soul. It's kind of pulling directly from the word that Carlos spoke in this Kentucky living room in the early 80s. Now, RA also makes a couple major claims. Ra gives a history of our solar system in which a planet called Maldek existed between Mars and Jupiter, and that its inhabitants destroyed it in this massive catastrophic war. The remains of the planet Ra says is in the asteroid belt. And that the souls of beings on Maldek were so traumatized and guilt ridden that they got stuck and many of them eventually reincarnated on Earth. Some of which Ra claims as the large second density creature that we actually call Bigfoot. Yeah, that like literally Ra's like hey, like these like cryptids that you see, those are actually like second density creatures that were reincarnated from this civilization that destroyed itself in this massive war that existed in know in our solar system. And according to Ra, this wasn't an accident. These souls were so karmically damaged from this war and this fighting and from basically blowing up their own planet, that the cosmic higher ups basically put them in like timeout. They were placed into these massive, heavily protected ape like bodies to live a purely instinctual, isolated existence out in nature, which allows them to slowly heal their spiritual trauma. Ra even explains why we don't see them on camera. It claims that these beings are so intensely terrified of human destructiveness that they've cloaked themselves and that they literally have the ability to slip in and out of our physical dimension just to avoid making contact with us. Now this one isn't as wild as Bigfoot, but it's still pretty interesting. As we mentioned earlier, Ra claims that it helped build the great pyramids by using thought, but the pyramid was turned into a place of worship and spectacle rather than the original intent, which is as a healing device. So around 10,000 years later, Ra tries again. They transmitted similar cosmic blueprints to a man named Nikola Tesla. The goal this time wasn't a giant stone monument. It was the gift of free, unlimited wireless energy that Nikola Tesla was working on. And it was given directly to him by this confederation, by Ra. According to Ra, if Tesla's work had fully succeeded, it would have freed the entire human race from the daily grind of survival and labor and economics. Energy would have been completely free. It was supposed to liberate us and give humanity the free time and the resources we needed to focus on our own spiritual evolution. But once again, Ra's plan hit a massive Wall Ra claims that Tesla became too isolated and eccentric, making it hard for him to actually deploy the technology to. Purely for all of humanity. Even worse, his work was quickly intercepted by the exact same kind of earthly greed that ruined the pyramids. Corporate elites, financiers. They realized that they couldn't put a meter on free, limitless energy. So the funding was pulled and the technology was suppressed. So for Ra, this was basically just like a repeat of what happened with the pyramids. They handed humanity the keys to a utopian society twice. And both times, human greed got in the way. Now, for the first stretch of this contact, this engagement with Ra was more about curiosity than it was about, you know, like, nailing down, like, specific details. It was just, like, engaging and learning about reality. But then things go downhill. As the sessions go on, the group became convinced that they were under a sustained psychic attack from the Orion Group. Remember these negative entities that Ra was talking about, trying to negatively harvest human energy and human souls? The researchers claimed that they were actively trying to disrupt the contact and harm the people that were involved. And RA didn't talk them out of it. It reinforced this idea repeatedly describing the attacks as very real and warning the group to protect themselves. Now, Carla's body kept on failing. The arthritis, the kidney trouble, the weight loss to, like, 80 pounds. RA kept telling them that she was operating on borrowed energy. But the more frightening collapse was Don's. Remember who Don was in this whole thing? The pragmatic physicist. You know, a brilliant mind that was teaching students, literally creating entire departments. An airline captain. He was the guy who stayed cool while everyone around him was kind of crumbling. But by 1984, that man was gone. Those close to him described a severe mental and emotional unraveling. This famously unshakable Don Elkins became, in Jim's later account, intensely affected by even just the smallest things. He'd become fixated on negative entities, on the threat to Carla, and on the idea that something was coming for him. So the group actually moved back to Louisville, hoping that this change would help Don. But it didn't. On November 7, 1984, Don Elkins took his own life after a year of steep decline. And with Don gone, this triangle was broken. Carla and Jim agreed that they could never safely attempt this raw trance again, which meant that session 106 was the last one. The contact with RA was over, but the contact with the Confederation was still very much alive. And in the years that followed, Carla and Jim would go on to channel other Confederation entities, like the one known as qo. And it was through those new sessions that they finally got some closure, receiving warmth and comforting messages about Don's passing and his ongoing spiritual journey. And over the years, this project quietly became one of the most influential texts in modern alternative spirituality. Carla and Jim actually got married in 1987 and actually kept the Love and Light research going, publishing the transcripts as five books known as the Law of One. Carla continued channeling other, less demanding sources until a spinal surgery stopped her in 2011 before passing away in 2015. Jim McCartney is the sole surviving member of this trio and still leads the L and L research to this day. After the release of their book, their ideas leaked out everywhere. The whole vocabulary of densities and service to others versus service to self and starseeds and wanderers, all of it seeped into New Age spiritual culture, while stemming ultimately from Carla's interpretation of Ra's message. So what do we make of these tapes now? The honest answer is that there are three scenarios. And the first one, I guess, if you were to ask Don, Carla, or Jim that this was real, that there was a real entity that they were contacting and that it was truly being channeled and it was telling them the secrets of the universe. The second option is that it was a shared delusion that you have three kind of isolated people that are sort of eccentric and they're deeply bonded and they're feeding each other's belief until one of them couldn't carry the weight of it anymore. The negative entities were never actually there. They were, you know, this structure of a delusion that turned fatal, and it made all of them feel like this was a real experience. And the third one, and maybe this is the most interesting, that Carla entrance was tapping into something genuinely deep into the human mind called the collective unconscious. This is a concept that Carl Jung refers to as the deepest layer of the human psyche, a universal reservoir of ancestral memories and instincts and symbols that is shared by all human beings, regardless of culture or time or upbringing. Now, maybe there's other options here. Maybe there's another explanation for what happened. But what's not in dispute is the this episode is brought to you by Starbucks. That is fire. Whoa, that's good. This might be the drink of the summer. Okay, I like this one, too. I'm rocking with it. Okay, try it for yourself. Starbucks refreshers. Concentrates are coming home. Find them in the coffee aisle and make it yours. Human impact of these sessions. You have a physicist who gave up tenure to chase the impossible, this librarian who literally let her body waste away for A voice that she believed needed her. And then you have a homesteader who walked out of the woods and became the energetic force of a trio and a contact that gave them the knowledge to ascend from this reality right before it ended in this unimaginable tragedy. Now, according to Ra, of course, none of that is a contradiction, because the whole thing, the tapes, the tragedy, you listening to this right now, this is just the infinite creator talking to itself, trying to remember that it was never separate in the first place. And that, my friends, is a brief summary of the story of the raw tapes and the law of one. I mean, quite interesting, you know, like.
D
All right.
B
I mean, a couple things that are interesting that people that have listened to the original recording say that Carla's voice, like, distinctly changed when she was channeling this entity, and that this was literally a different thing talking to her. And people point out, like, oh, she was, like, a trained vocalist. Like, she has the ability to manipulate her voice. I haven't listened to the original tape, so I can't weigh in on that. That's just what people have said.
D
Okay.
B
I mean, there's a lot here. It's interesting that once Jim gets in the mix, that all of a sudden these channelings with, like, this higher density being start to occur. Kind of interesting, right? The other things that give me pause here is like, okay, well, a lot of what they're talking about has kind of existed in, like, different pockets of literature even, certainly in the 1980s. Like, the idea that the pyramids were built using some other type of force or some other type of technology, ancient aliens, whatever, like, that kind of stuff has existed for a while. And so maybe they're pulling on that. Maybe this idea of, like, you know, universes kind of ending and our existence kind of like harvesting and then reincarnating comes from, you know, Hindu cosmology going back thousands of years. So maybe they're pulling on a couple different things and kind of amalgamating into one. I don't know. I don't know what to make of this. My. The catholic part of me is like, oh, they're channeling a demon, right? Like, that's like. Of course, if I asked my mom, my mom would be like, they're obviously channeling a demon, and the demon is using, like, some good stuff. And they're like, hey, unity and collectiveness and all being together in oneness. And. And, like, using stuff, like, feels really good, but then mixing it with bad stuff, which is what demons do, in order to break your brain. That's one option. The other option is kind of that shared delusion thing that you have these people that are dedicated to channeling, to, you know, developing their own spirituality, to understanding the world around them. And that in this sort of, you know, like, romance triangle sort of new age spiritual movement, they develop this philosophy all by just, like, kind of combining together and kind of that shared delusion option. That to me is like, if I had to, like, pinpoint likelihoods, I'm gonna say like, 75%. I'm gonna give it like 75%, like it was a shared delusion. Give me like, 15 that they were channeling a demon. Then what am I left with? 5%, 10%, something like that.
C
My bad.
B
10. And then give me like, 5% that they're tapping the collective unconsciousness. And then 4% other 1% that they're talking with raw, the leader alien of the confederation. I'm just skeptical. I don't know. I like, did this actually happen like that? Like, they're talking to raw, an alien that's a part of a confederation. There's the other group, the Orion Group, that's trying to disrupt them and that we exist in this, like, state of free will where they can't interact with us. I'm like, I don't know.
D
I saw the whole thing as a drug delusion.
B
Well, I don't know if they were doing drugs.
D
Can you fact check everything kind of. I mean, tracks.
B
I mean, it wouldn't shock me. I mean, can you just fact check? I never actually even, like, googled that. I kind of always assumed, like, they weren't, because if they were doing drugs, I just assumed, like, this wouldn't go anywhere. People were like, yeah, they were on mushrooms. But who knows? I mean, double check. The other part of me that I think about with this is it's like. Well, let's say it is from R.A. or it isn't. Did you find it? Several people involved in the early history
D
surrounding the RA experimented with psychedelic drugs before the RAW contact began.
B
I see. So they'd had psychedelic experiences, but the
D
actual RAW sessions themselves were conducted without.
B
So maybe, like, these feelings of oneness that people feel using psychedelics kind of seeps through.
D
It's possible also the fact that they got drained of their power and physical abilities afterwards kind of tracks.
B
Oh, like having, like, a hangover from something?
D
No, like the arthritis and they lost power of their body like Carla did.
B
What do you mean? With psychedelics?
D
They could do that.
B
Psychedelics?
D
Psychedelics. Drugs in general.
B
I mean, maybe I don't know if psychedelics give you arthritis, but I hear your point. Now. The other thing that I think about with this is like, well, is it good? You know what I mean? Like, okay, like, let's say you just, like, dive into this philosophy. I'm like, all right. Like, I guess it's kind of like giving you, like, a New Agey kind of, like, spiritual framework for, like, how to understand, like, death and spirituality and why we're here. But I don't like this idea that, like, hey, you have to be 95% selfish. Like, I hate that. Like, I. I don't think that's a good ethic. Like, hey, in order to pass the test, like, every religion more or less is like, be a good person. Be humble. Give to charity, Help the needy. No religion or worldview is like, do that stuff or be the worst person ever.
D
Yeah, but the people high up in religions do that religiously.
B
Hey, but that's a bug. That's not a feature of the religion. You know what I mean? These are institutionalized religions made up of broken people that certainly have done terrible things. I don't. I don't contest you on that point. But all that to say, like, a religion that kind of codifies, like, imagine the Ten Commandments, where it's like, hey, do all these things have no other gods before me? Don't steal, don't kill, or there's another ten commandments. That's like, be the worst person ever. 95% of the time. You can pass the test. See, this is why I'm like, this is a demon. Hot take. I've shifted my, my, my scale here. Mostly a demon that's like, hey, be a good person or be the worst person ever. It's like, what? I mean, maybe I'm totally misunderstanding it again. I haven't read the Law of One, so I apologize if I'm speaking out of turn here, but please don't hesitate to correct me in the comments if I'm completely missing the point. But that part, in and of itself, I'm like, nah, I don't like it. I don't like it at all.
D
I don't know. What do you guys think?
B
If you've studied the Law of One, if you've read all the books, if you've listened to the original recordings. What did I miss? Please let me know if I'm completely out of whack here if I've missed anything. If you've never heard of this before and this is your first time hearing about this stuff, please drop a comment. Let me know if you learned anything or if there's any connections to this kind of stuff that I may have missed. I would love to know what your thoughts are. Also, I have great news. If you like history content, we have history camp. I go through everything that's ever happened. If you like religion content, kind of like how we talked about today with different religious philosophies. Well, great news. You can check that over at religion camp. I mean, this episode kind of threads the needle with all of them, dude. It's kind of a great topic.
D
So does the next one, but we won't reveal what that is.
B
Come on, reveal it.
D
Dude, no, no. Oh, come on. Gotta watch next week.
B
You tease. It's like, okay, we tied in Nikola Tesla, the pyramids, aliens, occult rituals, and like psychic reading. Tied in with religion, Hindu cosmology, history, like the creation of, you know, the pyramids. I mean, we're kind of doing everything here. This is a great app. I enjoyed this one a lot. But I'd love to know what you guys think. And great news. If you'd like to just tap in on crazy mysteries of the unknown, well, we're here for you every single week, twice a week, so make sure you subscribe. Thank you all so much for tuning in. God bless you and I'll see you next time. Peace. Hey, we have a brand new channel that is a part of the camp universe and we made it specifically with you in mind. Camp Gagnon Podcast: The Ra Tapes — Giza Pyramids, Tesla's Muse & the Alien Confederation
Host: Mark Gagnon
Date: June 25, 2026
Episode Theme:
A deep-dive into the mysterious "Ra Tapes"—sessions in the early 1980s where three researchers in Kentucky claimed to channel teachings from an advanced alien entity named Ra. Mark unpacks the origins, philosophy, and cultural impact of the Law of One, exploring claims about pyramids, alien confederations, reincarnation, and the nature of human existence.
Mark Gagnon introduces listeners to the story behind the Law of One, a cornerstone of New Age spirituality. Through direct channeling sessions, three Americans claimed to receive messages from Ra, a collective extraterrestrial intelligence, offering detailed cosmology and spiritual guidance. Mark explores both the history and the wild metaphysical claims, always maintaining a skeptical but open-minded approach.

Prior to Ra, Don & Carla channeled other "Confederation" entities — Hatton (4th density, "density of love"), Latui (5th density, "density of wisdom"), etc.
The Confederation: "Galactic alliance of positively oriented civilizations... whose entire stated purpose is to just help humanity."
Ra appeared unexpectedly during a routine 1981 session, provided far more structured, technical, and direct answers.

Orion Group: Negative, manipulative alien confederation aiming to harvest souls for self-serving agendas — acts through elites and power structures.
Council of Saturn: Maintains a "quarantine" to protect Earth’s free will.
Wanderers: Advanced souls from higher densities incarnating as humans to help raise planetary consciousness, forgetting their origins.

Channeling sessions took a toll: Carla’s health deteriorated severely; group claimed ongoing psychic attacks attributed to the Orion Group.
Don Elkins’ mental health declined; he died by suicide in 1984, ending the Ra contact at session 106.
Carla and Jim carried on publishing and channeling other entities; the Law of One’s terminology seeped deeply into New Age and conspiracy culture.
Skepticism & Possible Explanations
Cultural Footprint & Lasting Impact
Mark is engaging, accessible, and maintains skeptical curiosity. He’s irreverent and often humorous, with a strong critical filter but never mocking the material. His storytelling weaves in cultural references, analogies, and self-deprecating humor (especially regarding his mother’s “demon” assessment of the channeled material).
The Law of One and the Ra Tapes remain a mysterious blend of philosophy, metaphysics, and new religious myth. Whether a grand collective delusion, a Jungian tap-in, demonic masquerade, or genuine ET contact, Mark frames it all as part of the infinite creator’s game of self-revelation:
"Because the whole thing, the tapes, the tragedy, you listening to this right now, this is just the infinite creator talking to itself, trying to remember that it was never separate in the first place." [34:44]
Mark’s last word:
"I'd love to know what you guys think... This episode kind of threads the needle with all of them, dude... I'd love to know what your thoughts are." [40:40]
