Caregiving: The Long Haul
In September 2024, my life changed overnight when my husband, Steve, was diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis. I quickly realized we weren't in a sprint toward a cure or a slide toward an end. We were in the Long Haul. At 63, I’ve had to learn how to stop "becoming" and start "being"—integrating a stationary, non-terminal, and permanent reality into a life that still feels like mine. This is a podcast for the spouses and partners who are the anchors. There are no silver linings here. No five-step plans for positivity. Just honest conversations about the "Couch Scan," the "Tuesday Loop," and the invisible mental labor of staying steady when the world feels like it’s stopped moving. I’m not here to fix you. I’m just here in the Long Haul with you.
