Hello! It's the podcast that always thinks the crowd is chanting "M-V-P" for you and you alone. Today, Katie and the Casualties remember the life of Sister Jean and the joy she brought to college basketball, then break down the Aces taking home another WNBA Championship, A'Ja Wilson and an all-time season, loving her relationship with Bam Adebayo, why we don't need to compare her to Michael Jordan, why we shouldn't treat Becky Hammon like she's ready to "graduate" to the NBA, Week Six in the NFL, bullying, blaming, raw dogging, and a round of "Should I Have Said That Out Loud?", the MLB Postseason and the characters you will see sitting behind home plate, the return of "Woman of the Week" and the Florida Woman who roundhouse kicked her way to a championship five days after giving birth, the latest in listener e-mails, and what you should be watching in sports this weekend.

Game day season is here and if you're like me, you want to serve up incredible food without missing a single play. And that's where Gorton's seafood comes in. For over 175 years, Gorton's has been serving up restaurant quality seafood that's unbelievably easy to make and ready in just a few minutes. Which is speaking my language. Whether you need some protein for your pregame meal or a whole spread of crunchy craveable appetizers for the crew, Gorton's has you covered with tons of easy prep seafood options like their popcorn shrimp or classic fish sticks. Think about it. Restaurant quality seafood, ready in minutes and at a fresh fraction of the cost of eating out. It's the perfect solution for your watch party whether you're hosting a big crowd or just having a lazy couch session. Me, I just bought an air fryer. Dan and I just got an air fryer and we had a big air fryer weekend where we fried up a bunch of stuff and part of the reason was because we wanted to cook up our Gorton's popcorn shrimp that we had in the freezer. It was so tasty, so easy to make and just such a nice little game day treat. Visit gortons.com to learn more, find a store and get recipe inspiration. Hey Isabella, did you see that Rolling stone did the 250 greatest songs of the 21st century century so far they do have.
Isabella
They do have 250 of some of the greatest. Greatest.
Katie Nolan
Wow, she's melting down. Can somebody reboot the Isabella, please?
Isabella
I was trying to do something funny and my mouth didn't want to cooperate.
Katie Nolan
Story of my life.
Isabella
Sorry, what did they do?
Katie Nolan
Not the band, the magazine.
Chris
I know.
Katie Nolan
Clarify.
Kate Kennedy
Trying to be.
Katie Nolan
Just making sure we're all clarified. They put out a list of the 250 greatest songs of the 21st century so far.
Isabella
Okay, and what's number one?
Katie Nolan
Get your freak on by Missy Elliott. Ooh.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Correct list. Yeah, I didn't look at anything but that, and I'll tell you. Correct list.
Isabella
And did you get your freak on?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, of course. It's Tuesday.
Isabella
Okay.
Brady
Ok.
Isabella
Hello.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God. Hi. Welcome to Casuals, the sports podcast for people that think they don't listen to sports podcasts. This is the one we're gonna get you. I'm Katie Nolan. I'm your host. Joined today because it's Tuesday by my casualties. We have. Who goes first? Brady.
Dan
Hello.
Katie Nolan
Chris.
Dan
Hi.
Katie Nolan
Isabella.
Isabella
Hi. Why was I last?
Katie Nolan
I don't know, but Brady's Internet is horrendous. This is just a absolute nightmare. It's Tuesday, so we're gonna get you caught up on all the news in sports that has happened. There's a ton to get to. As always, I'm waiting for the day that I wake up and go, not a lot happened today in sports. Nothing to say, so we'll keep it brief. That's not going to be today. To start, I have to tell you, if you want to reach out to us, Casuals with katienolan@gmail.com is our email. 646-801-0043 is our voicemail. And on IG and TikTok, we are @ CasualsThePodcast. Couple pieces of housekeeping. Up top. We just wanted to say, as a podcast, officially, RIP to Sister Jean. We had just discussed her on our last episode. Last episode, we recorded them all on wrong days, so I have to just refresh my memory of when this was. But last episode, we talked to Sarah Spain about her because she had just announced her retirement, and we were all afraid when we saw the retirement announcement that she had passed, and we were like, oh, she did it. Amazing. She just retired. And then mere. Mere weeks after the announcement, she's passed away. So, RIP to Sister Jean, you're a.
Brady
Legend, beloved chaplain of Loyola University in Chicago and patron, super fan of their basketball team.
Katie Nolan
That's right. What year was that that we all met her and became acquainted with her at March Madness? Oh, recently, I think it was like, 2018, I would say. Or 17, maybe.
Dan
2018.
Katie Nolan
We were right. RIP Sister Jean, 2018. Other news in housekeeping, which is basically where we just talk about things that have happened in the past that we want to update you on. Ryan Blaney, piece of furniture on our podcast, permanent staple of our new studio, exited Sunday's round of eight playoff opener. Is that correct, how I say that?
Dan
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Okay. That's horrendous. Oh, round of eight. Okay. I Was like he entered Sunday's round of eight playoff opener. I don't think it's the round of eight playoff opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Earlier, early, after a tire issue toward the end of stage one. Hey, here's the. Here's a good idea. Nascar, make that easier to understand. He left the race. He left the race. Explain to me, Chris, what this means for him in the playoffs. He's still in, but he doesn't get any points from this race. And he could have really used those.
Dan
Correct.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Dan
Because now it's going to be. He's coming from a long way back. He wasn't able to get any points. The guys that he's competing against in the playoff all registered a bunch of points. So if he's going to win, he's going to need a lot of luck and a lot of good driving from here on out.
Katie Nolan
Or a win. Am I correct in saying that? Because if you win, aren't you automatically through to the next round in these playoffs? Or did they, in their convoluted explanation of this, tell us that in the later rounds, a win doesn't get you into that? I don't remember that.
Dan
That sounds right, actually.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Well, Google it, I guess. I don't know. We'll see what happens to Ryan Blaney.
Dan
But we're all learning this together.
Katie Nolan
We're rooting for you, Chair. That's what I. That's his nickname. I call him Chair. He loves it. He knows about it for sure. Definitely bring it up to him. Also, I saw here just in my doc, it says important email and what is that?
Dan
So we got an email. This is from James. Okay. And James emails in and says, hello. I hope this message finds you well.
Katie Nolan
It does.
Dan
I'm interested in enrolling my kids in wrestling lessons. Do you offer private lessons? If so, could you please share the location of your facility?
Katie Nolan
What?
Dan
Best regards, James.
Katie Nolan
Um, did this. Okay. Did this come after we posted our preview of Orange Cassidy this week?
Brady
No.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God.
Brady
This came two days before.
Dan
What?
Katie Nolan
Cause the only way that made sense to me is. It's a joke. It's a bit. Why would I. Nope. What about Casuals with Katie Nolan? Mail.com gives wrestling lessons.
Brady
You just help the man out and answer his question directly.
Katie Nolan
And I can't read the address of our facilities out over the air. It's unsafe for me. What. What I need. I have a type of brain that needs somebody to put two and two together here. How does this occur? This is going to keep me up tonight.
Dan
It's the same way that we get emails about LD job applications.
Katie Nolan
That was just as weird. I'll be honest. Have we gotten more of those?
Brady
No. Which makes me think he did not get the job.
Katie Nolan
No. Sorry to him. Sorry to that man and to James, because no, I do not offer private lessons.
Dan
It's a very polite email though.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, very polite. I love hoping that Tiger that this email finds Tiger Shulman. Well, like, I love the idea of emailing a future instructor and going, hope you're doing all right. Say hello to your family.
Brady
All these emails with that line seem like they're going to the front line of the Civil War. Like, I hope this letter finds you.
Katie Nolan

But of course we have to start with the WNBA Finals because though this is the first year that they were going seven games with this series you all. That of course means you only have to win four games in order to win it all. And the Aces decided they would wrap it up that quickly. A four game sweep winning the NBA WNBA title once again. Defeating the Mercury in that last game 97 to 86. That is their third WNBA championship in four years. They've now won three of the last four titles. Asia Wilson, first player in WNBA or NBA history to win the scoring title, MVP championship and finals MVP in the same season. She joins Bill Russell. Maybe you've heard of him. Very famous as the only players in WNBA or NBA history to win three MVP awards and three championships in a four year span. All of that. That's too many numbers for you. They're real good. And Asia Wilson's fucking nasty. That's something.
Brady
Also co Defensive player of the year.
Katie Nolan
Yes, of course they split the crown like in Mean Girls and they shared it.
Brady
Plastic.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
Aw.
Katie Nolan
Or not.
Chris
Aw.
Isabella
Do we not. Are we not happy about that?
Katie Nolan
Well, I don't know. I don't.
Isabella
Wait, who did she share it with?
Brady
Alana Smith of Minnesota.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. So they. That's. They split that. I don't. I don't have strong opinions. People do. But I don't. It doesn't. I don't know. I feel like, you know, make a choice. If they both deserved it, then fine. One thing I really like is. Is seeing the, you know Kathy Engelbert, the commissioner of the wnba. You may have heard her name quite a bit. She's sort of a topic of discussion as we near CBA negotiations which is where the players are to negotiate with the league leadership about the direction of the league and sign a deal that will cover their things like their compensation and various things. So people aren't really thrilled with her right now. She came out to present the trophies and do the whole after the win ceremony. And here is what it sounded like. Here's how the crowd reacted. Thank you, Holly. Well, we're here today to celebrate a champion. Thank you to all the fans. Phoenix had a great run to get here and I just want to congratulate the Aces on a performance. 2025 WNBA champions. It's so loud.
Isabella
It's so perfectly in unison that it just sounds like a swarm of like bees or something.
Katie Nolan
It sounds like she's surrounded by locusts. That's crazy. Also I love these little moments of like that. That is to me a sign that like that's a. That's exactly what you're supposed to do. Every commissioner, I mean they don't all get booed like that, but they all get booed. I feel like anytime you see Goodell at the NFL draft or Gary Bettman coming out of his hole to do anything, there's just always just booze rained down. It's what you're supposed to do. It's, you could argue part of why that job is so well compensated, high paying, because your job is to absorb booze. But shout out to that crowd for making that boo so impactful.
Brady
What you can't hear is the guy giving two middle fingers in the background behind Kathy Engelbert that ESPN had to cut away from.
Katie Nolan
It's so funny. They've tried to like live blur it to keep it from. And it's just like you have to, you have to just let it stand. I don't know. You have to let it stand. There's no. Because wherever you cut the camera to, if I know women sports fans, someone else is going to pick up the mantle. It's like when you're listening to a press conference and a reporter asks a tough question and they try to move on to the next reporter. The solidarity of the next reporter going, and I'm going to ask that same question. That's middle fingers being thrown up. Anybody who's behind on camera. Kathy Engelbert is responsible for picking up the mantle and throwing up two birds. So I do love that that's a, that they are participating in that time honored tradition across leagues. What I don't love is when we start to try to treat this like the NBA in the sense that people want to get into a debate about, like, where Asia Wilson ranks now among the greatest women to ever play the game, or, like, if she's Michael Jordan or she's Bill Russell, and I just feel like I don't need that. Do we need to do that? I mean, I guess they can. You know, like, if you need, like, the first takes of the world, the. The tv, mainstream TV that covers all the sports, that's probably how they'll do it. But, like, we don't have to debase ourselves with that behavior here. Correct. I don't. I just don't care. I. She's incredible. She's so fun to watch. And if we can really zoom in on the part that I really love the most. Not the most. I love her basketball. Okay. But watching her and Bam, now that they're loving each other out loud, because Asia Wilson is famously dating Bam out of biology from the Heat, and they. He's still with the Heat, correct?
Brady
Yeah, he's still with the Heat.
Katie Nolan
Thank you. And they've just been. I don't know. We've just been getting to bear witness to their relationship in a really sweet way. And he was at the game. They had an embrace that was caught on camera, and they were talking to each other. It's very sweet, but hard to hear, so you should look that up. But what we do have audio of is Bam talking about how great Asia is in a press conference after the game.
Guest or Interviewee
That's the thing about shared success, man. You're just blessed to be a part of it. You're blessed to see somebody have that much success, somebody who they can. You know, you start comparing to Bill Russell, and you talk about how much of the greatness that they have.
Katie Nolan
That basketball practice that they had, the press conference at, what the hell was that? It's like. No, that's actually just Bam. He's just dribbling while having the conversation. Can't help it.
Chris
Always.
Katie Nolan
He can't put the ball down. It's the preseason for them. Okay, what's next for Becky Hammond, the coach of the Aces, who is. Is really just incredible. You know, before she was a assistant coach with the spurs in the NBA. And Stephen A. Smith. President Stephen A. Smith, everybody. Salute, please. President Stephen A. Smith said that he. Thank you, Brady. That took you a while. I don't know if maybe you were being Going against the reason. Proper decorum, for real. But he said that because she's so good, he thinks that she. She'd be in the NBA. She should be a coach in the NBA. And I'm just gonna. I'm just gonna say we got it. We can't be treating the NBA like it is the ultimate goal. The point of working in women's sports is not to one day, hopefully, if all goes right, make it to the men's version of the sport. That's. I know Stephen A. Means well, I think I should say, I think Stephen A. Means well there and means it as a compliment that, wow, she's so good. She. She could coach in the one that I watch is basically what he's saying. And watch, I guess, has an asterisk on it too, because remember, he does get solitaire in while. While watching these games. But let's just. We gotta. That can't be the. We should, I guess I should say mature from that way of thinking. Becky Hammond is a great coach on her own, and that stands on its own merits. And it isn't always the goal of somebody to go back into. Into the that. And so it's a strange thing to say that. I felt like when I heard, I was like, I thought we were way past this, but I forget, you know, I forget. All right, moving on to the NFL. We are in week six, week six of. How many weeks are there now fully in the season? 18.
Brady
18, yeah.
Katie Nolan
So we are in week six of 18. The theme for this week when we catch you up on all these stories, we're going to do Should I have said that out loud? This is a new segment called Should. Oh, good. Oh, let's do it again. And you do that little drop. Okay, ready? Here we go. In a new segment that we're calling Should I have said that out loud?
Isabella
Oops.
Katie Nolan
Perfect. God, I love all of this. This is so good. Okay, we'll start with the Chief's lion scuffle. So if you were watching Sunday Night Football, Brian Branch punched JuJu Smith Schuster in the helmet. Something that in football is always like, you could really hurt your hand there punching somebody in the helmet. But later, when asked why Brian Branch of the Lions did that to juju Smith Schuster of the Chiefs, here is what he had to say.
Guest or Interviewee
They were trying to bully me out there.
Chris
Should have never did.
Guest or Interviewee
Was childish.
Katie Nolan
Okay, I shouldn't have did it. It was childish, but they were trying to bully me out there, and I. Should I have said that out loud because. What do you mean by that? Bully you? What do you mean by that? Did they log into their AIM account and pretend to be your crush and send you an im and then when you responded to it earnestly, they Printed it out and brought it to school and shared it with everybody in the lunchroom.
Isabella
That's so mean.
Brady
It's just a random thing.
Katie Nolan
Just a random thing that. An example I thought of just now. Off top.
Isabella
I'm sorry, Katie.
Katie Nolan
Did they. Did they pretend that the. Did they pretend that the boy that you liked wanted to take you on a date and that. And then they had the whole school meet up to talk about it, and then when you said yes, he said, just kidding. And then he walked away with your friend under his arm because that's his girlfriend, your friend Abby, who just did that to you.
Isabella
Okay, I need to pull up to Framingham.
Kate Kennedy
Hot.
Katie Nolan
Is that. It was. It was. Walsh Middle School was the real culprit. It was a nightmare. Formative, and it was. I'm. I'm forged in fire. What do you mean? They were bullying you out there on the.
Brady
No, I think juju, like, blocked him in the back.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
Yours is way worse.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't know how we're bullying. I don't think that's bullying. I think that's football. From everything I've heard, that's football. So I don't know. I shouldn't have did it as. You should have said that, but I don't know if you should have said that. The reason for it is they were bullying you. Unless there was a wedgie involved, in which case you're well within your rights to punch a man in his helmet, in the hard casing that he puts around his head to absorb any impact that it receives.
Dan
You should punch. But also, as soon as you bring up that you're being bullied, the other bullies are going to come in and want a piece of that as well. So as soon as he said that he's been bullied, you bet he's gonna get bullied in the next game as well.
Katie Nolan
Wait, am I gonna get bullied now?
Guest or Interviewee
I don't know.
Dan
Maybe. Just don't go back to middle school, okay?
Katie Nolan
You couldn't pay me. You couldn't pay me. I hated it. Anytime I meet a child now who's like, I'm in seventh grade, I go, are you okay?
Isabella
I'm so sorry.
Katie Nolan
Are you okay? Is everything okay? These were the toughest years of my life.
Brady
Oof.
Katie Nolan
The Jets. The jets finished their day on Sunday in London, correct? Foggy London town with negative net passing yards. Isabelle, does that make sense to you? No, as our casualist fan. So normally, in a day, in a game, you would calculate all the times the ball went through the air yeah. And then you're subtracting any time that you. Anything happens behind the line of scrimmage, like if you get sacked or if you. Those are negative yards. And then you'll add all those up dependalties count in this summation. No, so this is just the. And. And so there's. When you added up all the yards they gained and subtracted all the yards they lost total in the game, they ended up 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage.
Isabella
That sounds bad.
Katie Nolan
It's not good.
Brady
The four of us would not have finished last in the NFL.
Katie Nolan
That's right. We had more. More yards than the. Than the Jets. Pretty tough. Oh, and six. The New York Jets. The New York football Jets are really not good. They didn't even try to score before halftime. And we can hear this audio. This is good audio. We're gonna play the.
Dan
The way that it's written makes it seem like the audio we're about to play is Garrett Wilson yelling at Aaron Glenn. But he did that at halftime and then spoke about doing decision.
Katie Nolan
Great. Okay, then let's play the audio of him speaking about doing that.
Guest or Interviewee
I just didn't know exactly what the plan was. And once I figured it out, you know, I was disappointed. I'll just say that.
Katie Nolan
So, yeah, two insults. I didn't know what the plan was. And then once I found out there was one and I looked at it, I was like, this is such a bad plan. It was almost better when I didn't know what the plan was. 13:11 was the final score there. The Broncos beat them in London. And we really sent London, our best product. We said, do you want this, you fucking sickos? Here it is a real. A real stinker we sent over there across the.
Dan
Certainly was.
Katie Nolan
The Bengals lost to the Packers. The Bengals, you'll remember coming into the season, everybody was excited. They signed those two great receivers. They had Joe Burrow, and then they lost Joe Burrow very early. And now no one knows what the hell to do with that team. They've got Joe Flacco now. Yeah, okay. And they lost to the packers, which I will say is unfair. That Joe Flacco an old how old football old or old?
Brady
Like not old for the club?
Katie Nolan
He's.
Brady
No, definitely old for the club.
Dan
40.
Katie Nolan
40. 40.
Dan
He's 40.
Katie Nolan
I thought he was like 43, but he's an older guy and he played the packers already this season and now he had to play the packers again. And I think that's unfair to a man of that age and that stature. Of someone so elite as Joe Flacco. But they lost Jamar Chase, a receiver for the Bengals. Already looking ahead to Thursday. And here is what Jamar Chase had to say about the Steelers.
Guest or Interviewee
Well, this next game is always the most important game, just because it's divisional game also, but just the rankings that we got going on the standings where we at right now. We know Steelers gonna try to come in and raw dog us and kill us, but we're gonna be ready for that challenge, and we're gonna be waiting for it.
Isabella
Ooh.
Katie Nolan
Ooh.
Isabella
Oops.
Katie Nolan
Should I have said that out loud?
Isabella
Oops?
Katie Nolan
What do you mean? We know the Steelers are gonna try to raw dog us and kill us.
Isabella
Aw, I'm scared.
Katie Nolan
We know the Steelers famously don't use a lot of protection. What in the hell? What do the kids say? Paws. I believe the kids say paws. Yes, that is. That is. We're using that. Can I just say. Can I be the old lady? We're using that phrase too much. We're using that phrase too much. Which we already knew when it was uttered on. What was it? CBS earlier this year when they said that the. All the Cardinals who were there to get ready for the. Not the combine. What's it called when the conclave has a combine?
Dan
The papal combine.
Brady
Papal drill.
Katie Nolan
That's very funny. They said that all the Cardinals were gonna raw dog it. Cause they didn't have their phones. And you were like, I don't think the Cardinals are allowed to raw dog. Just. I don't know. It's been a while since I brushed up on church rules. The packers beat the Bengals 27 18. And we'll see, I guess, what the Steelers choose to do to them. But it may be blurred out. The Bucs, the Bucks beat the Niners, and don't I know it. It was moody. We were. Dan was in a mood when I returned from my trip and the Niners were on. Tez Johnson, who caught a pass from Baker Mayfield, heard the crowd. You may have heard the Bucs fans were chanting MVP after the game. Tez Johnson said, I thought those were for me.

I'm gonna tell y' all a funny story. This is crazy. When I score and I hit MVP champ, I'm thinking they talking about me. So I asked Shep. I'm like, shep. They was chanting mvp. And he was like, yeah. I was like, I ain't do nothing this year. And then he was like, they talking about Baker Tess. And I was like, well, that explains it. But he is the mvp.
Katie Nolan
That's so funny. Should I have said that out loud? Yes, yes, absolutely. That's so funny. He's like, let me tell you guys a funny story. I hear mvp, my brain goes, me, what have I done to deserve this? I'll take it. But I don't think. I've certainly had better years. Very funny. That's very funny. Okay, Tua Tonga Vailoa sheds light on Dolphins dysfunction. This is. Okay, listen, here's the deal with Tua. If you're new to the sport, Tua has taken quite a few gigantic hits. Tua has suffered quite a few prime time, meaning everybody's watching this same game. Concussions. He's had some very bad head injuries through his career with the NFL. I'm saying all of that to say that this year in his press conferences, Tua has been taking. Making interesting decisions of what he's gonna say. On Mike, earlier, he said something. What was the thing he said earlier this season that was, oh, and you said that, like, Josh Allen's such a better quarterback than I am. There's stuff he can do that I can't do at all. And you're just like, before he's about to go play him, and you were like, okay, maybe true, but is this the forum? I'm not sure. And you just sort of feel like somebody led him in there holding his hand and forgot to say, like, there's people in the room with you and they'll be writing down what you say and reporting on it. And he did it again this week. Tua did, because the Dolphins obviously a lot of strife within that team down in Miami, run by my fiance, middle school friend. And as we've already discussed with middle school, friendships that were made around then are either still with you or were used against you at the time. And you never want to see Abby ever again in your life. But this one's still important to him. So I get very. I don't like talking about how that team is kind of a mess, but it is. And here is what Tua said to reporters this week about what's going on down there.
Guest or Interviewee
I think it starts with the leadership in. In helping articulate that for the guys. And then what we're expecting out of the gu, right? We're expecting this. Are we getting that? Are we not getting that? We have guys showing up to player only meetings late. Guys not showing up to player only meeting. Like, there. There's a lot that goes into that.
Katie Nolan
Okay? Now sometimes, and I know this better than anybody, I sit in front of a microphone sometimes. You're trying to communicate something that you're picturing exactly what you're trying to say. But the words that come out because everybody else isn't operating from the same base of knowledge sound like you're saying something else and they're confused by it and you're confusing them. Why would you say, if it's a player's only meeting, the leadership, one could argue is the player with the C on their chest. Now, on the Dolphins, I believe that's Tua. The leadership of the players is the captain and that's Tua. So the leadership having the right direction. Are you talking about your coach? Because if so, kind of nuts. Kind of nuts. Because your coach, one could argue. One could argue. One isn't even necessarily arguing here, but one could argue the coach attaching himself to you so closely has only hurt him. He's the only coach I know of that can get Tua to do the stuff that you sometimes want to do. And so it's an interesting way to throw him under the bus. Now, Mike's sound about this was basically like, you know, I don't think he meant to say that like that. I don't know why he did that, yada yada. But it's a players only meeting. Why would you throw everybody under the bus? Also, I don't know if you saw this and I don't remember who it was, but I saw somebody online say in my short time on the same team as Tua, he was late to the meetings, he never showed up on time. So this is a strange complaint. It just sounds like he's go. It's like the, it's like the I think you should leave sketch where he's like, we are all looking for the guy who did this. And it's like, it's you, it's you. We know that it's you. So I should. Should I have said that out loud?
Brady
Oops, no.
Katie Nolan
No, I don't think I should have. And then a bonus one we had. Detroit Tigers obviously lost a really tough game to lose a 15 inning slog against the Mariners on Friday night, which ended their season. And directly after these 15 innings, I don't know what time it is in the time zone. I think it's probably like nine or ten or something at this point. The. It's been a long day and a long game and the Tigers go to break and when they come, customarily they give you a game recap. They go, here's what happened, here's what we learned, here's what we're looking forward. Thanks for listening to the game broadcast. The Tigers broadcast a guy named Dan Dickerson. You hear him? He thinks he's in commercial. He's not. Here's what he says.
Guest or Interviewee
Dan and I will be back to.
Dan
Talk about it after this on the.
Katie Nolan
Detroit Tigers radio network. And fragile.
Dan
I don't have to do a game.
Katie Nolan
Useful arm.
Kate Kennedy
We get tired.
Katie Nolan
This game recap.
Guest or Interviewee
Oh, I'm sorry.
Katie Nolan
Was that out loud? 3, 2, 1. We are also strong. What really makes the clip for me is the, like, soft violin. I know.
Isabella
I was like. I was like, am I accidentally playing something else right now?
Katie Nolan
It's like a commercial that's playing that we should be hearing full. And instead you just hear him go.
Brady
What sells it for me is Dan counting it back in, like, three. Like, they're on two.
Katie Nolan
It's so funny.
Brady
No one will notice.
Katie Nolan
It's so funny. Should he have said it out loud? Yeah. You can't be mad about this. You can't be mad that after the longest day of work that you've had in quite some time that ended in. Now you don't have this job. You don't get to keep doing this job. Of course he's annoyed because the game recap is we've been here for hours, and it didn't. It didn't go in our favor, and now our season's over, and we'll see you next year. That's very funny. All right, let's use that as our. As a little transition. Let's talk about baseball because what hap. Where were we last time we all spoke? Who was left in the. What's happened since? We gotta update everybody. The Mariners have moved on.
Brady
Mariners moved on. We taped before Orion Kirkering through.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God. We never talked about Philly.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Oh, hey. If you haven't seen how Philly got eliminated from the baseball postseason, you should look it up. It was brutal. I also think the day after that happened was like mental health awareness day. And it felt real fitting because what a brutal. Basically, relief pitcher Orion Kerkering. The bases were loaded. There were two outs. He was pitching. And who was at the plate? Pajes, I believe it was Pages.
Brady
Yeah. Someone who didn't run all that well.
Katie Nolan
And he pitched the. He threw the ball to him. The ball comes right back to the pitcher. So Orion Kirkran goes from in that moment being a pitcher to now a fielder who was responsible for this ball. He bobbles it, makes a little mistake. Recoverable. Like, it's easy to come back from but he, He. He spirals instead, picks the ball up, throws it home, which is not the play. It is so not the play that, like, of course, anybody who likes baseball or played any level of baseball is watching it at home and goes, even I know not to do that.
Isabella
Where would you throw it to?
Katie Nolan
You throw it to first because it's just the, it's the easiest. It's the most basic play because that run that's coming home will not count if you get the third out. And the runner who's coming from third to home got a head start, whereas the batter can't run until the ball's hit. So they. It's going to take them longer than it's going to take the guy coming from third base. So in that event, when you're not. When you see that the runner's already at home and you're not going to get the ball there in time, the play is to throw to first. I would argue, you know, right away that he knows he's making the wrong decision because it wasn't even a good throw to home. He was like, right next to home, and he still didn't make a good throw because I think it was his brain knowing, like, this is. Is not the move, but something about that visual cue of you see the runner right there and you see home plate and your brain goes, if they touch that, it's over. So you throw the ball there and it. I mean, I just. Watching everybody realize what happened and react to it, watching the Dodgers come running out to celebrate and seeing Orion Kirkering just put his head in his hands was one of the harder things to watch.
Brady
Credit to the Phillies manager, though. Yes, Rob Thompson was the first. As soon as that happened, went up the stairs to the top of the dugout and was the first guy to meet Kirkering coming off the field and gave him a hug and was like.
Katie Nolan
I also think Castellanos corrected where he was running. He immediately ran right in. He beelined towards the. The pitcher to, like, immediately go like, it's, hey, it's okay. This is not on you. And that's true. Like, we experience time in a linear way, right? And that's the only reason why the last mistake always feels like, what cost you the game? But like, it shouldn't have been. There were plenty of times when they could have scored runs that they didn't. There were plenty of times when that game could have been won and it wasn't. So, yes, it was the final play, and my God, in front of a fan base that Pays attention, that knows what's going on and that cares more than most. That's gotta be really tough.
Isabella
Was it at Phillies too?
Katie Nolan
No, it was in la. It was in la.
Brady
It was in LA because it was a walk off for the Dodgers.
Katie Nolan
Yes, of course. Yeah, it was in la. So it's tough. It was really tough. But that happened. So the Phillies are done. The Dodgers move on. The Dodgers are now. Why does my brain do this? Who are the Dodgers. Yeah. The Dodgers now are up one nothing in their series. They played their first game last night again, the brewers, who beat the Cubs. The Cubs are out. Sarah, they. Sarah Spain had said, until you lose one at home. They did. Eventually. They. They won one. And then they. And then they did. Or no, wait, no, they won them at home and they got to game five.
Brady
Actually, yeah, they went to five.
Katie Nolan
I'm wrong. They went to five. They didn't lose any at home, but they did lose and they. They're not here. And then the Mariners are now playing the Blue Jays after that big 15 inning game. They went through customs, went to Toronto and everybody was like, hey, if they don't win this game, their bullpen. Bullpen's depleted. They're tired, a lot of travel. And then they did. They won that game. And then they won game two. They took both games in Toronto, which nobody thought. I don't think anybody had that written down as something that was going to happen. The Toronto. The bats are just kind of quiet.
Brady
America.
Katie Nolan
I know. And I, and I would normally participate in this gleefully, but I just feel like the four nations hockey last year got really toxic in a yucky way, doing the Canada America thing, which used to be fun and playful and now it feels less fun and playful.
Brady
You try to annex a country one time in the UK.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, you call it your 51st state one time, even though it would be a gigantic state, which would make absolutely no sense in terms of how our government works. I don't.
Brady
You've already thought it through way more than they did.
Katie Nolan
I know. Isn't that scary? Isn't that so scary?
Brady
The biggest story from that series. Game one, behind home plate.
Katie Nolan
Which series?
Brady
The Toronto Mariner series?
Katie Nolan
Yep.
Brady
Game one behind home plate. The one thing that jumped out to me is I'm spending that the entire time watching that game. And behind the batter, behind the catcher, behind the umpire, all I can see is a Blue Jays fan in the front row wearing a white sweatshirt with a giant butt plug on it.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God. I thought it was a lava lamp for like Two innings. I was like, what is this guy trying to say? And then when I realized the number, and I was like, oh, my God, are we being, like, so serious right now?
Isabella
Oh, it does look like a lava lamp.
Katie Nolan
Because it's. Because he's big dumper. And so they're this.
Isabella
Okay, that's, like, a lot. That's, like, weird.
Katie Nolan
Okay, so it's weird to the point where I'm pretty sure they got him a sweatshirt. Like, I think the team sent him a. Like, walked down and said, we'd like to gift you this complimentary team merch. Get that off of the broadcast, please. Yeah, and that's the way to handle that. You go, hey, look, a free shirt that normally costs, like, 90 bucks. But can we please not with the. With the butt plug, please. I also. There's a lot of stuff happening. Do you think casual fans care? I think it's, like a good. An interesting way. If you're bored with the baseball, watch the people that sit behind home plate. Some of sometimes very interesting people, and sometimes people dying to be thought of as interesting. Sometimes you're getting some of the most look at me in the world. Because they know they're there for every pitch. Is it Toronto that has a guy that I can't stand in a sparkly suit jacket who thinks he's the only. And when there's a strike, he'll go.
Brady
Like, yeah, he was there.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. In his sparkly sequin jacket. And you're like, hey, buddy, let's let the ump do the. Let's let the ump do it. You know, we don't need you. And then Milwaukee has the lady front row, Amy, score. She keeps score and has her. And she brings her girls as well. She. The girls are standing at attention.
Brady
They like to watch the game, too.
Katie Nolan
Yes. Oh, yes. She wears a low cut. It's not even actually that low cut. They're so high. Pushed, I think, is more of the. I don't. I'm not here to. We're not. But it. Okay, so there's that lady you're always gonna see. Marlin's man. I know. Isabella, do you have any context of a Marlins man? No, and I don't want to give you much. He's just a guy in a Marlins hat who. Now, at this point, I think he's got a whole army of Marlin's men. Because sometime you see a Marlins man and Marlin's stuff, who is not Marlin's man. He's a lawyer.
Brady
Marlins man.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I think Exactly. That he wears Marlins. The. The team. The Florida Marlins gear, which is orange, which stands out.
Brady
Well, it's not their gear anymore. It's like the 10 year old gear.
Katie Nolan
Sure. Once their gear, always their gear. I feel like they'll bring it back one year and sell it for 300 bucks. Call it a throwback. But he's at any big game, which ironically is never a Marlins game time. But he's always there in his Marlins gear. And now he's got a friend he brings who's got these big dumb sunglasses. And so I see him all the time. Are those the big ones? I feel like I might be missing? Remember the year they had Smile? They were doing that guerrilla marketing for the movie Smile. That was last year.
Brady
It was last year.
Katie Nolan
This has been a long.
Isabella
Oh yeah, that was. That was yucky. I hope they got paid really well because holding a smile like that for nine innings is crazy.
Katie Nolan
It definitely didn't. I also saw a guy with a hoodie on that had like a, you know, a dollar sign and then whatever the name of his dumb meme coin was. And it's like, oh God, can we not with this? Can we not Green dildo the baseball playoffs, please.
Dan
It's insane. I actively avoid trying to be on TV or on the Jumbotron or things like that. I will.
Katie Nolan
Well, you're not on social media. And what is the Jumbotron if not.
Dan
That's a great point.
Katie Nolan
Social of media.
Dan
That's a great point.
Katie Nolan
And I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with trying to get on the jumbotron. I think if you're like a, you know, I like sometimes you'll see moments of like kids dancing wacky or whatever. But I just think in terms of if you're sitting behind the plate, meaning you're on camera a lot and you're waving every pitch. Just know I am rooting for something low stakes but annoyingly high to bad happen to. To happen to you. I'm hoping a paper cut right before you eat salt and vinegar chips out of a bag. I'm hoping for you to have something like stepping on like a Lego and then while jumping up and down your other foot, steps on another Lego, hoping your day is ruined by low stakes pain like four days in a row. I hope you get. I hope you bite your tongue and then while trying not to bite that area, you bite the other side of your cheek. And I just, I really hope for the worst for you. Stop waving. We see you. We see you and we're Gonna keep seeing you for the rest of this famously long sporting event that we're all here for. Cut it out. Do you see that? That crazy double play in the fourth? I don't know that it's worth getting into, but if you love. If you love confusing baseball. If you love a baseball play that makes the actual center fielder right freelick, respond to it by, what what the just happened? And you can see his mouth go, what the just happened? Then you should go look it up. It was a crazy moment where anybody watching the baseball game last night went, do I know the rules of baseball? So that's kind of funny. A funny little thing. We'll keep an eye on how that goes. Dodgers, brewers, game two is tonight. Yes. And the other series is traveling.
Brady
Yes.
Dan
Correct.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. So that's something to keep an eye on. And that's. We're getting close to that. We're getting. We're in that pointy end. We're in that pointy end.
Dan
Yes, we are.
Katie Nolan
Very exciting stuff. Speaking of stuff to keep an eye on. LeBron LeBron James. That feels like one of the only names here where I just have to say that. I don't really have to say anything else, but I guess he plays for the Lakers. Gonna miss opening night of his 23rd. That's a record 23rd NBA season due to sciatica that'll be reevaluated in three to four weeks. They announced this on Thursday. The Lakers. Did he. That sciatica is one of those words you really only hear when you're old for the earth.
Dan
When you're pregnant or you're old.
Katie Nolan
Exactly. When your body's like, I got something. I'm going through something.
Isabella
Not necessarily. I know some people my age that deal with sciatica.
Katie Nolan
And it's what? Hip hop.
Brady
It's like the nerve that goes from, like your butt down your leg.
Katie Nolan
Lower back nerve.
Isabella
It'll go down your leg, like, to your foot.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Crazy.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Sorry. To those.
Brady
You gotta wear those cozy Skechers. Like, that's. That'll.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. You gotta wear your. Yeah, exactly. You gotta wear your Joe Montana's. So that's a. That's so. Never mind. Not a sign. Not a sign that he's old, but is a sign that karma came for him.
Isabella
Him.
Katie Nolan
Because he jerked us around last week, two weeks ago, time flat circle and said that he had a big announcement and like I said, Record 23rd NBA season. So people went, is this it? Is he done? And instead he was like, I am partnering with Hennessy. Okay.
Dan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Okay, okay.
Isabella
Let a man partner with Hennessy.
Katie Nolan
No, no, not this. Not in that way. Isabella, if you had been around for the decision, which was a much maligned, obnoxious rollout of announcing where LeBron was going to go, it was one of the. One of his only, I guess, quote unquote controversies, but, like, signs of backlash where he did this big rollout. It was like, poorly advised, where he said he's taken his talents down to south beach, and people were like, this is. It was like a. Kind of like a bad mark on his otherwise mostly spotless reputation.
Brady
I maintain that if he doesn't say, I'm taking my talents to South beach beach, if he's like, I'm going to go play for Miami Heat, and I'm excited to go to Miami, that's the one thing. That's that sound. It was the language he used, because otherwise it's like a long event that is meant to, like, funnel money to the Boys and Girls Club, and they had a whole bunch of kids there to see him. I really think he just really messed up the language on that one and soured people for a long time on him.
Katie Nolan
And put. The point is, for you, Isabella, people were soured on that. The thought of the decision, it was looked at as like, oh, my God, the decision. And then recently, he goes, the decision to. And so everyone goes, okay. It's like if a movie that sucked was like, I've got another. We got a sequel. And you're like, what could this possibly be? And then he goes, I'm part. I'm taking my talents.
Isabella
It wasn't like a cute tweet that was like.
Katie Nolan
And you're like, no. What do you mean? Why are we doing this? It was weird. It was weird. It was a weird choice. And then sciatica came. So just saying. Sciatica had a decision to make as well. And it made the decision to sideline you for a few weeks. So we'll see how that goes. Something to keep an eye on. Also something to keep an eye on. And I'm saying that because I don't know if we have enough information to even give this to you now, but it does sound like it could turn into something big. But like, most stuff in college athletics, that's kind of the case. So. The NCAA is moving closer to a proposal that would allow college athletes to bet on pro Sports. The Division 1 Administrative Committee on Wednesday adopted a propos that would permit student athletes and athletics department staff members to bet on professional sports. The rule change must be approved by all three NCAA divisions. Divisions two and three are expected to consider the proposal during their respective meetings at the end of October. And if approved by all three divisions, it can be effective November 1st. That feels like a can of worms that someone just pulled the can opener out of the drawer and popped onto the can. I feel like we're at that part right now where we're all going, oh, well, okay. Especially because I think the line between professional sports and. And college athletics is getting a little blurred if you're paying your athletes. So it's sort of like when you say they can bet on professional sports. It's like, how could you possibly. Could you argue in court that this isn't professional sport? I don't know. It's weird and I don't know know, but I imagine it's at least spurred by a number of things. But one of which is like that Venmo thing we've been seeing, right? Where, like. Do you see a lot of people online, Chris? You wouldn't have. I see why you're confused because you don't have social media, but people would go on Venmo, which technically is social media. It's like social media banking, where you can write little notes of why it is you're sending this money. And they're finding college athletes who form. Who have previously or during their careers or whatever, sent money for sports gambling through Venmo and labeled it as such. And so this is. I don't know. I don't know what to do with this. And that's why. It's just something to keep an eye on because we might be having worms for lunch. Woman of the week. I was hoping Isabella would make a noise. Woman of the week. Oh, that's a little close to the other noise.
Isabella
Oh, yeah, you're right.
Katie Nolan
But it's. But maybe not. Not. Let's try it. Let's see what comes out of you. We'll just. I'll do it one more time and do whatever speaks to you. Okay. Woman of the week. Okay, fuck it, Chris.
Brady
Just add air horns in post.
Katie Nolan
Woman of the week Caca. A Florida woman wins mortal. Florida woman wins Mortal Kombat tournament. I'm already in. Very different from Mortal Kombat, which we do have. I have merch that says Myrtle Kombat, and it's Myrtle's side profile in the Mortal Kombat logo.
Dan
So good.
Katie Nolan
It's great. I'll find it. A woman, a Florida woman won a Mortal Kombat tournament playing with her newborn baby in her arms. How long does the word newborn apply?
Dan
Couple of weeks, maybe eight weeks.
Katie Nolan
That's a guess. Or that's the math specific.
Brady
I don't think there's an official ruling.
Katie Nolan
Okay, then say that next time. Eight weeks. It was like official. Okay. A mother of a newborn baby's going viral.
Brady
Baby have her eight weeks.
Isabella
Weeks.
Katie Nolan
That's why I asked.
Dan
So are you.
Brady
Yeah, eight weeks.
Katie Nolan
That's why I asked you to. This is crazy. You guys are nuts. A mother of a newborn baby is going viral after winning her local monthly fighting game tournament. Crazy thing to call it Juicy game night in Orlando, Florida, all while holding her five oh my God. Old child in her arms. Legion is her gamer tag. She is a 3D artist and mother who quote, occasionally plays fighting games when she has time in between working and taking care of her newborn daughter. I hope I'm saying this correctly. Syriza. Five days after welcoming Ceriza to the world, Legion and her hubby. Okay, that's not what was said to me. Legion and her hubby took their bundle of joy along with them to their local fighting game tournament on quote, last minute whim. And despite recovering from a grueling surgical procedure the the trauma of childbirth, she decided to compete with her five day old daughter resting in her arms. She worked her way through the four person bracket beating her own husband to land in the grand finals against fellow player King kai in a 32 victory. The Mortal Kombat mom took first place winning $28. I thought I was gonna say $28,028 and a trip to Dreamhack Atlanta in late October. This is what she said on X. So glad that we honestly left the house and did this. Our daughter's so chill around noise and car rides. Possibly because I traveled so much while pregnant. Never want to stop doing things that I love. Just need to adjust my life accordingly for our younger daughter. Totally. And we love this woman of the week Legion. It is strange. We know her daughter's real legal name but we only know her as her gamertag. That makes me feel a little like it should. Maybe we should preserve the identity of the child. I don't know. Everything's different now and I love this and you're amazing and that's incredible. Separate. Can I put a stop on that and say a separate thing? Once your husband lost, take the baby. Nah.
Dan
You're a hitter. It was a good luck charm. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Okay. And maybe. And if that's the case, I allow for it. It. But you also go. Does he know he could take the.
Isabella
Baby, does he know that that's also his daughter?
Katie Nolan
I just want to make sure, because you're right, it could be that it's a good luck charm, that she likes doing it this way, et cetera, et cetera. But it could also. I've. I have scrolled enough TikTok to know that that man could just be like, that's her job. What am I supposed to do? That's her job.
Dan
If the baby's asleep and comfortable and all these things.
Katie Nolan
All these things. I'm not taking away anyone's agency. I'm just letting that man know in case he didn't. Because when I originally asked about this story, you guys said that it seemed the husband might not have been in the picture, in which case I'm like, great, empowering story, yada yada. But if it's. He's not only in the picture, he's playing in the same tournament. How many rounds did he win with the baby in his arms when it was his turn? You know what I'm saying? Anyway, woman of the week. Thank you. And then we have a couple. Did you see that? I don't know how much time we have, but do you guys want to pick your favorite one or two of these and let me know about them? Them?
Dan
Yeah. I'll give you one. And this one's from Steve. And Steve says, hello, casualties. Did you see that? The University of Minnesota women's hockey team improved their record to 6, 0 with a sweep of number 10 Saint Cloud State in a home and home with the Huskies over the weekend. Abby Murphy continued her dominance, scoring three more goals against the Huskies, bringing her season total to 12 to go along with her six assists. Murphy's 18 points at tops in D1 women's hockey, as is her 12 goals, which is double the amount of the next highest scorer.
Katie Nolan
Of course it is.
Dan
This sets up a huge matchup next weekend at Ritter arena in the Twin Cities. Next weekend versus the number two. Versus the number two ranked the highest state, Buckeyes. You're welcome. Love you meet it. So that game against the Buckeyes will be on October 18th at 3pm Eastern. You can watch that on Big Ten Plus.
Katie Nolan
Hell, yeah. That's crazy. Twelve goals through six games ain't bad. That's insane. Minnesota women's hockey, I mean, they've been good, right? They're like one of the better teams. And we'll see what happens against Ohio State. I hope they win. That's crazy. What a season. All right, we have another one. I hadn't Seen that. So thank you for telling me.
Dan
This one's from Hayden and Hayden says, hi, Katie, New Zealand based listener. So voicemail isn't an option, but thank you, Aidan. This one's really for Chris. I was watching the Bathurst 1000 over the weekend, which is like the Daytona 500. Down this way in terms of status. One of the drivers crashed out and as he walked off behind the safety barriers, a fan passed him a beer, which he just cracked open then and there. Is that not the most Aussie thing ever? Love you meet it from Hayden. I actually watched this and it was pretty cool. He's just like. He looks dejected. He's walking off, he's like, ah, man, that's fan hands him a beer, he's just like, cracks it open, chugs it.
Brady
Didn't drink it out of a boot. Not Australian enough.
Katie Nolan
Couple questions. Are you saying the bathhouse 1000?
Dan
Bathurst.
Katie Nolan
Bathurst.
Dan
Bathurst.
Katie Nolan
Okay. I was like, you guys have a bath house race? What is that?
Dan
Bathurst 1000. It's a big deal.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course. And I'm aware of it. I was just making sure for the people who. You know what I mean, Chris?
Isabella
Sure.
Brady
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
And then second question is crashing out. The official term for that.
Dan
What else would you say?
Katie Nolan
No, I just, you know, kids these days are saying crashing out and it means something totally different.
Dan
Oh.
Katie Nolan
And I'm just wondering if you knew that. You knew that or you didn't know that.
Dan
I. No.
Katie Nolan
Okay. And that's mostly it. Can somebody remind me next show to yap about the halftime show? Have they announced yet who's gonna be on that counter programming halftime show brought to us by Turning Point usa. Have they yet announced the names? Because when I saw that announcement and it said names to come, I was like, excuse me, you don't even have anybody booked yet. You just really wanted to ride the wave of the outrage, which is completely unfounded considering Puerto Rico is America. Puerto Rico is America. But we'll yap about that in the next episode, I feel. And let me make sure that they've got somebody booked. I'm sure it's what Kid Rock.
Brady
Kid Rock's a lock.
Katie Nolan
He's gotta be. But because it's Thursday. You know what? Should we take a quick break and when we come back, we'll tell people what to watch. If they wanna watch sports this week, it's Tuesday. Did I say it was Thursday?
Dan
You absolutely did.
Katie Nolan
Let's take a break so I can check a calendar and then we'll tell you guys what to Watch if you wanna watch sports.

Whose hobbies include analyzing Taylor Swift lyrics with a surgical level of detail? Do you ever spend your spare time thinking about how Mary Kate and Ashley really mismanaged our expectations for how easy it is to meet a boyfriend on vacation? If so, have I got the podcast for you. I'm Kate Kennedy, host of Be There in Five where I deep dive the shallow things we are often told don't going out tops, girl boss, feminism, purity rings, pyramid schemes, the power of hot girl scents at a 2000s bath and body works. Be there in five is where I try and make sense of the pop culture that raised us and continues to shape us as millennial women. So come spiral with me wherever you get your podcasts. I'll be there in five, I swear.
Katie Nolan
Okay, fantastic. It's, it's, it's Monday. It's. What day is it? It's Tuesday, which is the day that Chris. Chris puts together a list of stuff you can watch. If sports were something you wanted to dip your toe into this week. Chris, what do we have on the docket? I assume other than like the playoff baseball that we've already mentioned.
Dan
Correct.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Dan
Not counting that because we mentioned that before. Not counting NFL because we sort of touched on that before as well. The first thing is some EPL action. We have Liverpool shut up against Manchester United. The struggling Manchester United this weekend on Sunday, October 19th at 11:30am Eastern. On USA Network. Let's get some Liverpool action going.
Katie Nolan
11:30. I can handle 11. If every game were at 11:30, I'd be a much better fan.
Dan
Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
I've kind of failed them this year. I get it. But Manchester United really is having a tough go. Right?
Dan
They're crashing out. Not a great season so far.
Katie Nolan
They're crashing out. One could say. Famously. All right, what else?
Dan
Second thing. Bruins. Bruins are looking pretty good this season so far.
Katie Nolan
Okay, and by looking pretty good this season so far, do you mean that they're undefeated?
Dan
I do mean they're undefeated because they are doing great.
Katie Nolan
Go ahead.
Dan
And they play against the Mammoth. Mammoth or just Mammoth? The Mammoths.
Katie Nolan
Mammoths.
Dan
Mammoth.
Katie Nolan
Get it right or pay the price.
Brady
Put a fucking S on it. You're not one collective hairy elephant.
Katie Nolan
If you like it, then you should put an S on it. The Mammoths.
Dan
Anyway, Bruins at Mammoth. Sunday, October 19th at 7pm Eastern on NHL Network. We'll see if the Bruins are still undefeated by then.
Katie Nolan
But, yeah, I think they're gonna go all the way. I don't think they're gonna take a loss.
Dan
82. 0.
Katie Nolan
Okay, and then what else?
Dan
The last thing. The 2025 Pan Continental Curling Championship, Australia versus Philippines are on next Monday, October 20th, at 8pm Eastern on the Curling Channel.
Katie Nolan
The Curling Channel.
Dan
All these matchups in the Pan Continental curling championships. For $20, you can buy a tournament. A pass for a tournament there. Usa, Australia and Philippines are all participating in this event, and the event will be used to qualify teams for the 2026 World Killing Championships, which will be held in March. So go Australia.
Katie Nolan
Okay, I guess. Pan Continental Killing Championships. All right.
Dan
Love killing.
Katie Nolan
20 bucks for a whole tournament? I can't tell if that's a good deal or not, but I.
Dan
We split it amongst the four of us. It's fine.
Katie Nolan
There you go. Five bucks each.
Dan
Yep.
Katie Nolan
Somebody check that math. Okay, that's it for the podcast. Thank you so much for listening. I hope we got you caught up on everything. If there's anything you need from us that we didn't do. Casuals with Katie Nolan. Gmail.com 6468001043 on IG and Tik Tok, we are at Casualty, the podcast. I love you. I mean it. We love you. Is that safe to say? We love you. We mean.
Chris
Sure.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And we'll see you on Thursday. Bye.
