Hello! It's the podcast that would try to befriend the gorilla instead of fighting it. Today, Katie breaks down the alarming trend of Major League Baseball gender reveals, then former SNL writer and "Harley Quinn" co-showrunner Katie Rich joins [15:25] to get into the mind-boggling Bill Belichick interview on CBS Sunday and why refusing to talk about how he and his girlfriend met was the WORST move, the NFL Draft and the Mel Kiper meltdown spectacle, lazy prank calls, Shedeur Sanders, Will Campbell as the most trusted lineman ever, Tyler Shough and the goodest draft dog ever, why we can't help but root for the Lakers this year, the vibes of the 2025 Cubs, Devin Williams, Tommy Pham, Brandon Beane, Australian DJs, the precautionary tale Lufkin, TX Weedster Bunny, and why you need to take a look at Harley Quinn and Kite Man. Hell yeah.

Katie Nolan
Hey, Isabella, have you seen this? Hundred men versus one adult silverback gorilla meme.
Chris
Are we doing this for fun? Like, what happened? Was this at a zoo?
Katie Nolan
No, this isn't real. There has. This has not. This has not. Actually.
Chris
Wait, what's the question?
Katie Rich
Not an urgent issue of them trying to assemble a team.
Katie Nolan
100 men.
Chris
Like, this is really fucked up.
Brady
If this is actually.
Katie Nolan
Yes, it would be very fucked up.
Chris
Ask me another question.
Katie Nolan
Okay. Did you watch any sports this weekend that you wanted to tell me about? It's been bringing me real joy when you explain the hockey that you've watched. What did you watch this weekend?
Brady
I have.
Chris
I watched the Knicks. Of course.
Katie Nolan
Of course.
Chris
They won very, very controversially, very closely.
Katie Nolan
Ref said it should have been a call.
Chris
I don't know, but should it have been?
Katie Nolan
The refs literally said afterwards they should have called it.
Brady
I know, but they didn't. Yeah.
Chris
You know, you want to talk about how like The Lakers are down 3:1. You know who's up 3:1. Who? The team I just signed.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I know, the Knicks. But it's okay. The Pistons are going to take care of that.
Chris
You know what? I don't like your outfit today.
Katie Nolan
That's fucked up.
Chris
It was hard for me to say cuz your outfit actually is cute today.
Katie Nolan
Thanks. It was hard for me to say hello and welcome to Casuals. It's a podcast. It's a podcast about sports, but it's like also about just like yapping about sports. I'm Katie Nolan. I'm your host. I'll be joined today by a friend of mine I haven't seen in a very long time, Katie Rich, formerly a writer from snl. That's what she was doing the last time I saw her, but she's currently the co showrunner for Harley Quinn on Max. She'll be by in a second. We're going to talk about the big sports news. I mean, mostly that Belichick interview.
Brady
That.
Katie Nolan
That Belichick interview that rocked the world this weekend is what we spend a lot of time discussing because it just caused more questions than answers and needed to be discussed. We also talk about the draft. Something you guys know from the last podcast I wasn't into, but a lot has happened and emerged from. So we discuss that and then we play a little game about heroes and villains. It's very interesting. Before we get to all that, a little housekeeping. If you want to email us casuals nolan gmail.com. our voicemail is 646-801-0043 on IG and Tik. We are at Casuals, the podcast a second bit of housekeeping. It's just because we are your sports news podcast. Right. So it's my job to inform you about all of the sports news. And so I thought it would be important to let you know that Fox Sports 1 has fired their executive vice president, Charlie Dixon. I'm now reading from the article. He's the co defendant in two lawsuits in which he was accused of sexual battery and he's officially done at the network. Charlie Dixon is no longer with Fox Sports. A Fox Sports spokesperson told the Athletic there is no further their comment at this time. So you know the news, I've told it to you. Um, but before we get into the rest of this with Katie Rich, Yap and today's Yap might be controversial. It may be controversial on gender lines. I'm not sure. I guess we'll learn together. The gender reveal, it's a much maligned practice that has gained both popularity and scrutiny in recent years. I don't know if I could trace when gender began being revealed in such a way as it has been in recent years, but it's a, a thing now. A thing that if I say gender reveal, you know what I'm talking about. It's a celebration where the parents and or their family and friends find out together the gender of the baby being carried by the couple. You know, in. Throughout history we've seen sometimes there's been gender reveals where they set forest fires by trying to use fireworks and they're not properly prepared to do it and they, you know, oops. Accidentally burnt down an entire ecosystem. We've seen ones that end in fights between the couples. We've seen ones where men do a really terrible job of disguising just how disappointed they are that they're having a girl instead of a boy. A lot of Internet discourse has taken place around the gender reveal. And while I think, look, a lady who's not have. As a lady who's not having a baby, who am I really to say what you should do with anything leading up to and, and even after the having of a baby? I don't know, it's not a part of the culture I'll be partaking in. This is just my opinion. Um, but I've noticed in baseball this season, the gender reveal has made its presence incredibly known. We are at the end of April here, so the beginning of a long haul in baseball season and already three major instances of a gender reveal happening during a baseball game. April 5, Bryson Stott. Wore a pink armband as a gender reveal for his friend. April 14, Bryce Harper, same team, carried a special blue bat into the batter's box. And that was how he learned and then announced that his fourth child was going to be a boy. That's his child. And then April 20, 20, 22nd, Stephen Kwan from the Guardians had a pink wristband in his back pocket, and he put it on his left forearm. And that's how his wife Rebecca learned that they're going to have a baby girl. No issues with these specifically. I'm not meaning anything I'm about to say to effect that These were big moments for their family. Two of them were about their own babies. It makes perfect sense. I love and support. Have I given enough before? I say, can we nip this in the bud? Can we nip the gender reveals in baseball in the bud? This is going to get out of hand very quickly. Okay. It was cute at first. Oh. Oh, that's so cute. Oh, his friends now are finding out from a baseball game. That's so cool. If we don't stop this, okay, by the time we're in July, we're gonna have an infield of blue and pink, and everyone's gonna, well, it's. My second cousin twice removed is having a baby. And this is their gender reveal. I like that. It's not setting anything on fire. There's no environmental damage that could come from doing your gender reveal at a baseball game. But it's just like, okay, we get it. Okay, cool. That idea's been done now. So I'm sorry if you've got some big plan coming up where you're gonna ask a baseball. It just feels like, remember a couple years ago when kids, high school kids started asking famous people to prom on public social media where they'd be like, please, would. It would be amazing if you would come with me. And when I say a couple years ago, I'm realizing that was probably like 10 years ago. But they were like, could you please come with me to prom? Or they would, can you come with me to military ball? And the celebrities were like, yeah. And then they would go. Because you can't say no if somebody who's served for your country asks you to be their date to the Marine Corps ball. And who the hell are you to go like, no, I'm. I can't go to that. But then it got a little out of hand where people started to feel like, okay, I'm being bullied into going to some high schoolers prom because you're Asking me in front of a crowd of people, and I don't want to look like an and so I just think that we could be getting into that. Let's. Let's just maybe pump a break or two on the gender reveals in baseball. I think it's cool. And congratulations to all of these babies and any future babies even. I love future babies. I just don't think, you know, I. I think it could just be. It's like a. Okay. You know, it'll be like in Jeopardy when people write shout outs at the end on the screen when they're supposed to just write the answer to Final Jeopardy. Or their response to Final Jeopardy. And they write like, hi, Jessica and Sarah and Steve. And at first, Ken would, like, read them and go, oh, a little shout out to who's that? Are those your kids? And now he just ignores them because we can't. We don't have time for this. And I feel like it's gonna be very weird when you're doing your gender reveal and the booth doesn't even acknowledge it because we can't all reveal our gender always during a baseball game. Is that a boomer take? No, thank you. You all legally have to comfort me now.
Katie Rich
I had my gender reveal in a envelope from a doctor. Yeah, that was good enough.
Katie Nolan
Chris, thoughts on gender reveal?
Isabella
Yeah, I've never been for them. I think something like this a few times in April during a baseball game. Sure, that's fine. But generally speaking, I haven't really cared about them, especially, you know, posting them online and things like that.
Katie Nolan
We.
Isabella
We had a very, very small one that was just with, you know, my wife's family. There was, you know, five of us there and no one recorded or anything because it's. It's supposed to be an intimate moment. It's supposed to be just between your family, your close friends, things like that. So I've never really cared for gen reveals, so I'm on board with you.
Brady
I can't.
Katie Rich
I don't think there's a worse moment in human history than the. The gender reveal wiffle ball bat where the man is supposed to hit the baseball that then explodes into blue or pink powder, but he's also up there taking six or seven hacks at it and cannot make contact off the soft toss. Yeah, that's. There's always a camera on you. There's a large crowd. They're expecting a big show, and you can't strike out in that moment.
Katie Nolan
So true.
Katie Rich
It's a tough one to watch.
Katie Nolan
So true. Did any of These guys strike out. That'd be funny to. I didn't even realize of like if Bryce Harper struck out. Yeah. Every time you reveal the gender of a baby, something bad happens. It's actually. But that's how you'd get baseball players to stop doing it. Hey, it's bad luck. Don't reveal the gender of a baby during a baseball game, you know, or keep doing it. What does it matter what I think? It's just, it's just an opinion, you.
Chris
Know, do what you want. I just don't want it where people feel pressured that they have to now what, Go do a gender reveal if they never really wanted to, you know, because obviously it's like such a huge thing also on social media.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Chris
And so I don't want people to feel like, oh man, I can't like, you know, afford to do a gender party. And it's like, well, it's okay if you don't want to do that.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Chris
Do your own little intimate one if you'd like.
Katie Nolan
It's like when promposals got crazy and you're like, well, you can also just ask the girl to prom. It doesn't have to be this. You don't have to get a drone display to write will you go to like, cool. But let's not price people out of finding out the gender of their baby. If you don't know a baseball player, then your gender reveal sucks. Your baby's going to suck. It's like, I don't know, just. It's cool that we did it a couple times and then let's do the next cool thing. You know, I don't care what gender your baby's going to be. I bet it annoys me either way. You know, boy, girl, make it. Shut up. Ever thought of that? Our guest today. I kind of already did this earlier. I always do. I think within the first six months of this podcast, I'm gonna figure out how to open it. I think we're gonna really get that nailed down within the next couple months. Here. Katie Rich, though. Katie Rich I met a million years ago on an old podcast, the Garbage Time podcast. She is a die hard sports fan. She's from Chicago. She's a big Bears Cubs gal, but she watches, knows them all. She used to write for snl. She was. She did Weekend Update. She wrote for that for a long time on snl. Now she also was from Second City. She's a Second City comic currently. Now she is the co showrunner for Harley Quinn, the animated series on Max Season 5. The entirety of it is available now if you want to go watch. They also have a spin off show. Brady, what was this guy's name? Kite Man.
Katie Rich
Kite Man. Hell yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Kite man has a spin off series that I don't know, I'm not deep in that world, but apparently it's a funny character that's like a, like a minor character that probably shouldn't have his own spin off, but is. That's part of the bit and it's a good joke.
Katie Rich
Man's superpower is that he has a kite on his back that's he can fly around but requires a gust of wind.
Katie Nolan
Okay, all right. So they really just write anything, you know?
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Rich
The power of Katie's writing.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Yeah. Well, Katie can make anything funny. Which you will find out in just a moment. I have to apologize. I am fixated on this Bill Belichick interview and so I did make her talk about it for a long time. But that and more. Let's get into it now. This is Katie Rich, my dear friend. Enjoy the episode. Katie Rich, thank you for being here. I feel like I haven't seen you in decades. I said 10 years, but then the way you reacted made me feel good that maybe it hasn't been that long.
Brady
Well, now I think it has now that I'm thinking about it, because I haven't been at SNL for five years.
Katie Nolan
That's crazy.
Brady
Which is crazy.
Katie Nolan
And you were there when we met.
Brady
I was there when we met and.
Katie Nolan
Began our beautiful friendship.
Brady
Yes. And so I think maybe it has been 10 years.
Katie Nolan
It was probably like 2014 or 2015.
Brady
But it's like those years are. There's like three years that are awash.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. The LA. The. The 2020 and the few years after that. It's one year. It was all one year.
Brady
So I feel like it's more like six years.
Katie Nolan
Fine. And I'm comfortable with that.
Brady
Me too.
Katie Nolan
Good to see you.
Brady
It's so good to see you.
Katie Nolan
I'm so happy to have you here. Mostly because this first story, I can't think of anybody I'd rather talk about this with. Big thing that happened over the weekend. I mean, obviously there's a lot. We're in the playoffs for basketball. We're in the playoffs of hockey, baseball seasons up and running. The NFL draft happened. But to me, the biggest story over the weekend was Bill Belichick's interview with CBS Sunday. It was bizarre. He's on a book tour. They did an interview on CBS in the Morning. A reputable News organization. Why don't we go ahead and take a look at the clip we have lined up. How did you guys meet?
Brady
Not talking about this. No, no.
Katie Nolan
Apparently CBS said that they included that clip of her interacting in the interview and saying that she wasn't going to talk about it because she was a constant presence in the interview. Interrupted a number of. There was even a report that said that she stormed out of the room. This is from tmz. She stormed out of the room and delayed shooting for 30 minutes. And so it feels. This has been a constant conversation on this podcast and elsewhere that Bill Belichick, who is 73. 2 73. Dating a 24 year old Jordan Hudson. Confusing for a number of reasons. But I think this interview has now pushed this into. Everybody wants to know what's going on here.
Brady
And that's exactly the problem.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
What you people need to understand is when you don't answer a question, it becomes infinitely more interesting. Correct. Just lie.
Katie Nolan
Here's the thing.
Brady
They met online or we met. Didn't they meet on a plane?
Katie Nolan
They have lied. Right. This is why this confused me.
Brady
Now we're not gonna talk much because.
Katie Nolan
You already came up with your little story and some of us heard the story originally and said, okay, why are you in the. Flying in the same class as Bill Belichick? I don't picture you guys sitting anywhere near each other. If you're on the same plane, which I'm already like, doubt it. You're not sitting in the same spot on the plane. But the story was story wise that they sat next to each other on a plane and he signed her textbook. It was philosophy or something like that. And he signed it with all of his championships. Of course he wrote his name and then all of the championships. He has one as a head coach, which. Because you gotta let him know.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So why when asked that question in an interview, why not just go with the story you already came up with?
Brady
It's very odd and it's, it's so odd that I feel like it's almost intentional. Like to bring more drama, to bring more attention to it. Do you know this is, you know in like a horror movie when they don't show the monster?
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
It's way scarier.
Katie Nolan
Cloverfield.
Brady
Cloverfield versus Blair Witch.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Remember they showed the monster. You were like, that's not the Cloverfield. Why do we need this? We don't need that. But Blair Witch, you never saw it.
Katie Nolan
Right. So it stayed scared. Yeah.
Brady
It's. It's the same way with, with Stuff like that. It's like, I don't want to talk about that. Well, now I'm gonna fill in all the blanks. Now whatever's in my head is going to be way more interesting than probably the real thing.
Katie Nolan
And now the hole in his sweatshirt is making me feel uncomfortable. Yeah, it's no longer like, oh, that's just Bill. Now I'm going, well, what's this? Why is he in a.
Brady
Does he have a whole.
Katie Nolan
Why you guys wearing matching.
Brady
It made me feel uncomfortable because it felt like it was trying to be fashionable.
Katie Nolan
Which.
Brady
The whole thing about Coach Belichick is that if there's a hole in his shirt, it's because there's a hole in the shirt.
Katie Nolan
And what do you want him to do?
Brady
And what do you want him to do? He's not there to.
Katie Nolan
He's here to play football.
Brady
He's not there for coach. He's there to coach.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
So it's interesting to me that at this stage in his career, it seems like he's kind of doing the thing that you do early in your career, which is, you know, be known for other. Other fun things as opposed to what you actually do for a living.
Katie Nolan
The TMZ item ends with a quote that qualifies as a top five finalist for understatement of the decade. While pointing out that folks at UNC are worried about Hudson's influence over Belichick in his role as Tar Heel's coach, TMZ quotes an unnamed source as saying, there's a quote, growing sense this could become a problem.
Brady
Yeah, I mean, I. I think the thing that is so surprising to me is that he's not the person I would see putting up with something like that.
Katie Nolan
I'm just confused about how much of it he's.
Brady
He likes it.
Katie Nolan
He does, yes. What does he like about it?
Brady
I don't know. But you don't do something like that unless you're getting something out of it. And I'm not talking about.
Katie Nolan
Well, you know, it's probably getting something.
Brady
He's getting some.
Katie Nolan
I mean, getting something into it.
Brady
Get some into it. Getting some out of it, over it, under it. But it's also like, there's something. You know, you like it.
Katie Nolan
And I'm. I want everybody to be happy, you know, whatever way makes them happy. My thing is. Can we clear it up? Right? Can we. If you're gonna be around with her, can we get some answers? Because the few answers we had, which I already wasn't buying, are now gone. The how we Met story is gone. Yes. So what is going on here?
Brady
I don't know. And I think again, it's like, be happy with whoever you want.
Katie Nolan
Totally.
Brady
I don't give a shit. I would love that. Great. But I think we all are feeling something is off.
Katie Nolan
It's just. We have too many questions. I hate when people do this thing where they act in a way that is obviously interesting. It's obviously different. It's obviously not the norm.
Brady
And they're like, don't ask me about.
Katie Nolan
And then they go, why is everybody so curious about. It's like, well. Cause you're. You've been a public figure for a very long time.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
We've. No. Come to know you as almost an unknowable guy in the sense that you're like a.
Brady
You're a void.
Katie Nolan
Closed book.
Brady
You're a void.
Katie Nolan
You're just a football hole.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
And. And now this is so incongruous with what we know of you. Great word. You should be upset with us if we didn't go, what's this?
Brady
Well, they would be, because I'm saying this is intentional.
Katie Nolan
If this was.
Brady
We're talking about it.
Katie Nolan
If this was elder abuse. And we all just went, well, I don't know. He says he's happy, so let's just.
Brady
Right.
Katie Nolan
They go, hello, this guy was like this his whole career. Nobody noticed that he was. All of a sudden had social media. Nobody noticed that this girl was around and injecting herself into his Dunkin Donuts commercial and his CBS Morning interview. Nobody asked questions. It's like, that's all we're doing is asking questions. And then they go like, whoa, what did we. What? We can't be in love.
Brady
He's like, well, I don't really care about what people think of me.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, okay, great.
Brady
Well, then why are you staging a photo shoot with a. As a mermaid and a fisherman?
Katie Nolan
His response to the questions about that made me feel like he doesn't know they were on the Internet again. This is where the not having any answers leads to just more questions. Because the way the interviewer asked, like, what was your. What's the reaction been, like, to the. This new side of you that we've never seen, where you're on the beach dressed as a fisherman reeling in your mermaid lover. Right. And Bill just looks at him so confused and was like, reaction. What do you.
Brady
I don't.
Katie Nolan
And he's like, what do you mean? What do I mean? It's. You've never been like this, and now you're doing this. What's the reaction been like? And he goes, okay, so I'm on those social media sites, but I really don't, like, deal with them at all, which sounds like she runs his account. I don't know. What am I supposed to infer from that?
Brady
I don't think it's elder abuse in the sense that I think he's aware of what's going on, but I just wish people would just be like, man, I'm banging a hot chick.
Katie Nolan
I'm banging a hot chick. Let me live my life. I'm coaching in college and I'm banging a hot chick. She wants to bang me.
Brady
Great.
Katie Nolan
And I'm like, what am I gonna. Who am I to say no?
Brady
Like, I love that.
Katie Nolan
I'm happy. I've been through a lot of relationships in my life. I'm at a new chapter. She makes me feel young.
Brady
What a great start.
Katie Nolan
She gets me out into the world. Let me be a little different. Let my freak flag fly. Belichick out. Great.
Brady
Yes. But I will say, like, I think the point that you're hitting on is that this is so out of character.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
I think if you or I Maybe in our 70s, if I start dating 25 year old, I think people would be like, yeah, that tracks.
Katie Nolan
Good for them.
Brady
Good for that. You know what I mean?
Katie Nolan
Like, they've waited their whole lives for this time. They are finally living, you know?
Brady
But like, like, I guess it's just the fact that someone was so, you know, I don't think people were shocked that someone like Travis Kelsey would date Taylor Swift. You're just like, he's a big personality. He's like this, whatever.
Katie Nolan
But this is just part of it was surprising.
Brady
Oh, it wasn't for me.
Katie Nolan
A little part of it for me. Really surprising. Just knowing his type.
Brady
Oh, yeah, I. I know what you're saying, and I agree with that. But, like, how do you, as a Patriots fan, like, where does Bill sit in your heart?
Katie Nolan
Let me say this.
Brady
I look Patriots, I got no skin in the game.
Katie Nolan
I know. And I am glad I have less skin in the game than I would have. I'm glad he's not coaching our team while this is happening. I don't know if she could be my first lady of the Patriots that I could just be like, no, that's Jojo. We love her, Jojo. So I am glad that it's not something I have to answer for. I feel I heard somebody say he's like, ruining this is what he'll be remembered for. He's ruining his legacy. I don't know if I'm fully there on it. I mean, he still has all those championships, but I just. This combined with the. I need to see how this season goes at unc because I'm. I feel. So what do I know about Bill Belichick then? You know, like, I feel like if he's actually this guy, I have no idea how he moves through the world anymore. I have no idea. Are they gonna make fun of him relentlessly for our opposing teams, gonna heckle them for this? I feel like they must. College football fans famously use anything against you, even if it's beyond your control, right? Even if it's not. Like they shouldn't be bringing it up. Like, I'm thinking of like, how often Penn State stuff came up. It's like, there's no chance that they're gonna be.
Brady
These are children in college whose skull isn't hardened yet.
Katie Nolan
Right?
Brady
They're not gonna say, you know, you.
Katie Nolan
Have a hot young girlfriend.
Brady
So I don't know if it's. It's just interesting to me because he seemed to be the epitome of no distractions. And this is such. All distraction. It's such a distraction. And that's what's interesting to me. But I think for me, the takeaway is if someone asks you a question, please don't make the answer so interesting. You know, either answer it right or you can just lie.
Katie Nolan
Why are you in the room if not to help it hurt? It only hurt. It only hurt if you're there and giving the. The like allure of we. I'm here to make sure you don't ask the wrong questions. I'm here to make sure this is all under control. Then don't not have plans. Don't not have a plan for the questions that will be asked. Like, how did you guys meet?
Brady
Yeah, it should have been. It's a very simple question.
Katie Nolan
Before you went in, you should have been like. And remember, it was on a plane, it was in 20, whatever year they're claiming. And you signed my textbook, you signed my book.
Brady
Even though we all do everything online.
Katie Nolan
I also saw a story that she. That this isn't her. This is speaking of types, that maybe an older man is her type. And the only issue I take with that is if these two have known each other for a couple years now. Now we're running out of room between the time it was okay for her to date anybody and the time that she's already currently dating a 70 something year old. Man. So the 60 something ex boyfriend of hers who always takes pains to refer to her as a friend and a former fling, that window must have been real small.
Brady
But that being said, what did we just say earlier when we started chatting?
Katie Nolan
I don't know.
Brady
There was a time. Time is relative.
Katie Nolan
You're right.
Brady
There was a period of time where maybe things were different. Maybe she's been 22 for longer than we know.
Katie Nolan
Oh, an interesting point.
Brady
You never know.
Katie Nolan
You never do know.
Brady
You got to give people the benefit of the doubt here.
Katie Nolan
I'm trying. I think I'm just running out. I think the benefit has run out. Every turn I've been like. And that. And why don't. And they sure could. And I hope they're happy. And now it's just like all. How did. All right, shoot it to me straight. How'd you meet?
Brady
I think it's.
Katie Nolan
What website?
Brady
I think you're so right in saying that. When we see this season play out, I think then you can shut me up real quick. You can shut a lot of us up real quick.
Katie Nolan
I hate to say it. I think I need to see him kiss you. I think I need to watch them kiss. I don't know. I haven't googled it. I'm afraid of what comes up. I think I just need to see and go like, oh, wow. They really do. Like, they seem like two people who love each other kiss for me.
Brady
He seems happy. Yeah, he seems happier than he's ever been.
Katie Nolan
All right, But. Well, I hope that that's the case and we wish them all the best.
Brady
The breast.
Katie Nolan
All the breast. Another big story from the weekend. Secondary to that, of course. Of course. The NFL draft and the main story.
Brady
How much did you watch, by the way?
Katie Nolan
I don't. You don't watch it? I abstain.
Brady
Why?
Katie Nolan
I probably caught a little bit of it. Here's my thing. I think that it's rude to give an entire television to a sport that's not happening right now. When two sports are in their post seasons. The best of that sport is happening right now. So I was watching hockey or basketball. I'm not watching the NFL draft. I just don't care like that.
Brady
The WNBA draft was televised during. And that's postseason.
Katie Nolan
And that's. But that's different because that's ladies.
Brady
And it was also at ESPN too, wasn't it?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't know.
Brady
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
I just feel like it's. I'm interested in what happens. I'm interested in the discussion around it. I don't watch college football, so I don't know any of these people. And I won't know them until they come to my house, you know what I mean? Till they're in the league. And so this being other people's like, oh, my God, which guy's gonna go where? I don't know who any of the guys really are anyway. Right. And I'll see them when they get year because they're in college and I don't look at boys in college.
Brady
Well, there is. There is something that. Especially like with March Madness and stuff like that, and I'm a degenerate gambler. There is something that doesn't feel great about, like, you know, now they have commercials for it of like screaming at a child.
Katie Nolan
I know.
Brady
Because they're losing you money.
Katie Nolan
Oh, the commercials during March Mad now.
Brady
They have commercials that are like, hey, maybe don't.
Katie Nolan
Hey, don't tweet. Yell at exactly when he lost your.
Brady
Parlay, you know, which is really, really a devastating thing that they spent money to. It's that prevalent that they had to spend money.
Katie Nolan
AI generated ad too. If you look at it, what it's like, there's no pictures.
Brady
Everyone has eight fingers and like, yeah, crazy. But anyway, that's interesting that you don't watch it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I just. This year, look, this part of this podcast is me stepping into my truth of being like, look, I can like the parts I like and I can be honest about the parts I really don't care about. And the NFL draft, I don't. Here's the main reason why. We saw it with Shador Sanders, which is the big story of the draft is like, so many people involved in making and giving their opinions.
Brady
I know.
Katie Nolan
And what did we learn from, like, how is there this story that Shadore Sanders was widely reported. He was going to go early in the first few rounds, people thought and then dropped and kept dropping and kept dropping until the fifth round. And how is the story before and during the draft that he's dropping and why? And oh, my God. And then afterwards, it's debate about why. Somebody go get an answer. Go ask the teams, why did he drop? Was he there in the first place? This many people employed to cover this event. Someone get an answer.
Brady
I think that's a really. I think what you're touching on is really what's wrong with every reporting now, where it's all. It's opinions as opposed to what's actually happening. And that's what's keeping people employed. Like Mel Kuyper it was like. It was like he was defending his legacy to his children. Like, how vehemently he kept being like, well, you know, Tom Brady didn't get picked. You know, and so just like, suddenly, the whole draft became about saving Mel Kuyper's sanity for what, you know, And I'm like, just put the Eagle man back in the thing. You know, he comes out every once a year, but it was just like, the Eagle man. I agree. That's what was so odd was that it became almost like justifying these men's. It was like if Nate Silver, you know, with. It was like, all Nate Silver. It was just like all these men trying to justify these opinions that they had that didn't come true.
Katie Nolan
And it's like, well, instead of going like, guess my opinion was wrong, they're like, well, it's got to be this or this.
Brady
Like, you're saying, find out what happened. It was happened. This interview went poorly, and blah, blah, blah, and they thought they didn't want Dion here. But, you know, it's. There's. There's. There's very many ways to get answers, as opposed to, like, being so upset that you were wrong that you just have to justify your existence.
Katie Nolan
He. Mel Kuiper, Eagle man, said, The NFL has been clueless for 50 years when it comes to evaluating quarterbacks. He shouted, what? They have no idea what they're doing in terms of evaluating quarterbacks. That's proof. There's proof of that. They think they know exactly what they're talking about with quarterbacks. They don't. That's how I kind of feel about all y'all. Honestly, I just feel like nobody knows. There's too many factors at play to decide if a guy's talent is going to translate to. From college football to the NFL. There's too much that it's impossible. And, like, if it is someone's job, they keep that guy locked up, employed for a team, and he never speaks to anybody because, no, it's never consensus. And it never. It doesn't. They don't also check back on these opinions once the guys go to the NFL and go, you were wrong. You were right.
Brady
You were wrong. That's the thing that really got me, was they were acting as though draft analysis, it goes into some permanent record, the Smithsonian. And we're gonna go and look back and be like, remember when Mel Kuiper was on. Nobody gives a rat's ass except degenerate people, you know what I mean, who are just. Who already have so many Opinions anyway. They don't care about yours. So that's what was so shocking to me that it felt like it was taking away from. From a really cool. I don't know. The draft is fun and it's beautiful. Like, you get to see these young men who worked so hard and you see their families and there's something really lovely about it. And that was completely overshadowed by these men who were upset that their. What they said didn't come. That their little wish didn't come true.
Katie Nolan
Their little wish. It's. And you know, then that became the discourse.
Brady
That was the story. That was the whole story.
Katie Nolan
A lot of discourse around.
Brady
So imagine you're Cam Ward.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
And no one's talking about you.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
That's. And he's. His story's fascinating.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
And no one's talking about him. I don't know. Maybe they are. I'm not.
Katie Nolan
No, no one is. I checked. Somebody important weighed in on all this after day one, after he. After Chador did not go in the first round. The. Our president, Donald J. Trump, said he. I assume he truthed. I assume this was on truth socialed. Yeah. So you can retruth this if you want to.
Brady
Is that what they're called?
Katie Nolan
I don't think so. He said, what is wrong with NFL owners? Are they stupid? Deion Sanders was a great college football player and was even greater in the NFL. He's also a very good coach, street wise and smart. Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son has phenomenal genes and is all set for greatness. He should be picked in quotes immediately by a team that wants to win. Good luck, Shador, and say hello to your wonderful father.
Brady
So many things in there are so dicey. Also, have you seen your kids? Like, you don't do anything with your kids except for the girl. Like, so. I don't know. It's such a. That's another thing that's. So if I'm Shador Sanders, I'm like, like, well, I'm also a person.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I'd be like, can you delete that?
Brady
Like that.
Katie Nolan
I don't need know.
Brady
I think that sucks, doesn't it?
Katie Nolan
Did. It felt like. And I don't know, but that felt like a favor phoned in. That felt like a. Can you say something, please? And then I believe also he took credit. The. I actually think it was our press secretary said, well, he sent out his tweet or whatever we're calling that. And then a few rounds later he was drafted. So I think that speaks for itself that he did it's like, what? No, he. If he had gotten drafted, like a pick after you did that, maybe. But if it was a few rounds later, that's. You didn't do any. We knew he was gonna go in the draft.
Brady
Wow. I. I wish I had. I wish I had. If I had 5%, maybe 2% of that type of delusion about my impact on things, I think I'd be a lot happier and a lot more successful.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Powerful.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Maybe we just need to start lying to ourselves.
Brady
Yeah. I mean, yes, we should lie to ourselves more, but much more. But it's like, that's incredible.
Katie Nolan
Well, Donald Trump got him drafted, and I think that's what those history books should reflect, that Donald Trump got Shador Sanders drafted.
Brady
I think that that's. I hope that that's the takeaway from this, is that we both believe, certainly mine, that Donald Trump affected. I don't know. There's something to be said about the Belichick thing, too. Was the reason that that didn't go the way people thought it was going to go? Is that. Are we beyond this? Are we beyond the circus aspect of things? Is it. You know, Belichick has to coach in college now because it seemed like there was too much that he brought right with him. Is. Is that. Are we now at a point where we're like, we don't need that. A team doesn't want that to follow them, you know, having the dad.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I think what. Especially with a quarterback, if you're not drafting them in the first round to be your starter and they're just essentially going to be a backup, I feel like the sideshow of it all. Your father being very involved quarterback. That's when you start to go like, well, I can't have my backup having a dad that, like, calls the team and is like, why isn't my son start. Like, we can't have. It just seems that it, like, weighs heavier against him. I think once you are a backup not being drafted as a starter. I also think somebody pointed out that, like, it's difficult to be critical in any way about Shador in the media because the way Dion reacts to that and the way he, like, sort of flips it back. And so it seems like a lot of people and a lot of people are friends with Dion in the media because he's, you know, been around football for so long. So it's like, there's a lot of layers to it that seem to contribute to just a massive, very confusing, murky weekend. Obviously not helped by the fact that Shador was on camera for a lot of this, thinking he was going to get drafted, and then received a prank phone call telling him that he was going to be picked. So for anybody that doesn't know, usually before the pick happens, you get a phone call from somebody on the staff, maybe the gm, and they'll call and say, like, hey, buddy, we're about to take you with this next pick. Are you ready to be an Atlanta Falcon?
Brady
Right?
Katie Nolan
And, you know, they'll say yes or whatever, and then the pick will come through, and then we'll see it. But because Shador was on camera, we saw him get this phone call. They released this video of him getting this phone call talking to who he thought was the GM of the. Of the Saints, actually, of the New Orleans Saints. And the prank call was a mess. The person just was like, are you ready to.
Brady
It wasn't done. Well, no.
Katie Nolan
And that's my number one gripe.
Brady
That's my biggest problem with it. If you're gonna take that big of a swing, you gotta nail it.
Katie Nolan
And they basically just were like, we're gonna take you with this next pick. And then he said, you've been waiting for a while, huh? And he was like, yeah. He's like, well, you're gonna have to wait a little bit bit longer. Sorry. And then they hung up.
Brady
And what was the. I. I don't know. I'm not saying, like, we gotta. The children need to learn about the jerky boys, you know, I'm not saying that, but, like, what was the. What was the end. What's. What was the goal there? Was it just to be funny?
Katie Nolan
It's like, you knew. So we've since found out that the. Because the people who did the prank released a video of themselves pranking him. Which. Stupid, right? Have you never done a crime before? But they released the video of them pranking him. And in the video, you see this. So it was announced that by Shador's team that this was a phone number that he had bought just for the draft. Nobody had this number except people associated with NFL teams. So it's very strange that this number got out and somebody pranked him. And we hope somebody looks into it. They did look into it. One of the kids in that video is the son of the defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, Jeff Ulbricht. His son, Jax Ulbricht, was. It took part in this, and it just. It like you guys knew it was his number because you got it straight from the source. They said he took it from his dad's laptop or his iPad or something.
Brady
He saw it and was like, I can't pass this up.
Katie Nolan
Right. So you had time. You knew. It wasn't like, we got this number. We're not even sure if it's going to be him.
Brady
It is.
Katie Nolan
It's from the source, so you know it's him. You didn't spend any time in the planning process.
Brady
I just don't like a lazy prank.
Katie Nolan
You didn't want to sit down and go, all right, we're gonna have him, and he's gonna be on camera. And this is one of the most talked about picks in this draft. What are we doing to make a splash?
Brady
Yeah, I agree. It was. It was also. It was just like. It was just stupid dumb. It was like, okay, wow. So you called a kid and it. It didn't go anywhere. Like, why.
Katie Nolan
Why?
Brady
You couldn't resist it. I get it. You know, he's. What is he, 21?
Katie Nolan
Probably.
Brady
You know, it's like his. His skull's not hardened yet either. And I can't say that. I can't say that you. You know, at that age, I wouldn't have looked and been like, oh, man, you know what we could do. But then I think you get to a point where you're like, but for what? Like, to what end are you trying to make a name for yourself? Right, as, like, a jokester?
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
Do you hate the guy also? Your father is why you have money and access. You know what I mean? Like, so you want to ruin your dad's whole deal.
Katie Nolan
And I'm not pro any type of abuse. I'd like to make that perfectly clear.
Brady
Before I say, whoa, hot take, what.
Katie Nolan
I'm gonna say, which is, I would be in so much trouble.
Brady
Oh, I would be in so much trouble.
Katie Nolan
Unable to leave the house without, like, makeup. I would be. It would. I would have my fault.
Brady
Even as an adult who lives on their own, it doesn't matter.
Katie Nolan
It makes me go like, my dad caught me doing that. Yes. And my dad's not a defensive coordinator of a football team.
Brady
No.
Katie Nolan
Like, my. It's a. It's a good job. It's a public job, and it's a job that's got a lot of aggression involved in it that I'm not pissing my dad off. No, the fact that you aren't afraid on that camera when you're in the prank, the fact that the kid didn't go like. Like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. The sense. Where's your sense?
Brady
I don't think he's thinking. I don't think you're thinking, but yeah. I mean, my father. My father is 88 and he could still kick murder your ass. And there's probably things he would be right to do that for.
Katie Nolan
I just feel like. And I'm not saying he should lose his job. I don't know anything about being a defensive coordinator. And I don't know if Jeff Ulbrich is very good at it. I don't. I don't know for what his kid did. But that, I mean, that's just like. That data is your responsibility.
Brady
I mean, I think that's where it is. Right. Like, although we seem to be playing.
Katie Nolan
Fast and loose, very fast and loose.
Brady
Data getting out there. But to me, that's more the issue. Right. Is like, why are you leaving your password.
Katie Nolan
Protect your things.
Brady
You know, you have to.
Katie Nolan
Has the phone number of every prospect that's potentially.
Brady
And I'm not. And I mean, I mean, he could say, you know, the excuse could be like, well, but it's my family. It's my house. Well, it's like, yeah, but. But there's your kids. Friends are there. People are coming in and out of your house. Like, I know.
Katie Nolan
It's just a wild.
Brady
What if you accidentally. I don't know, you could. Can you butt dial on an iPad? Can you delete that so I don't.
Katie Nolan
No, leave it in. You can butt dial on an iPad.
Brady
You know, like, you easily can. I mean, I have numbers on my phone that I would be devastated if I. Devastated if I accidentally called.
Katie Nolan
And they. I just. This is a whole mess.
Brady
And that's not a brag.
Katie Nolan
And my number one thing we will be calling.
Brady
The reason I'd be devastated is Cause they'd be like, like, why the are you calling? You know what I mean? But it's like, why would you. I. I don't know. I. I think he. He probably needs to get some sort of.
Katie Nolan
He should be in some sort of trouble.
Brady
Some sort of trouble. Some sort of scolding for. For leaving that.
Katie Nolan
And I. And I will say I wouldn't feel that way if it was a great prank. Prank was subpar.
Brady
I. But may I ask you what. Do you have a concept of what.
Katie Nolan
Oh, no, no, no. I haven't put any credit on either. I. But I just know that it didn't have a. It had no arc.
Brady
There was no narrative to it. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
The joke was, we're picking you for our team. Just kidding. No, we're not. And then hanging up I just.
Brady
But also, it was done very late. Is the other thing. Like, I think if you had done that, maybe that was my issue. Why didn't you call him at the beginning of the draft?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, maybe they waited till he slid, until they.
Brady
Is that what it was?
Katie Nolan
I don't know.
Brady
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
I don't know. I think it was silly. I think it was dumb. I think it was. It was mean.
Brady
It was really mean.
Katie Nolan
I also think it was, like. It made it stork. It made him a little sympathetic. I felt bad for him.
Brady
I felt really bad for him.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. So whatever.
Brady
I think. I think what we've. What we've settled on is if you're gonna risk it all like that for jokes, make it worth it, make it worth it.
Katie Nolan
Make it worth it.
Brady
Put in the time, put in the effort to be an asshole.
Katie Nolan
The better things that I think came from the draft. Did you see Tyler Schuck and his dog? He's got a beautiful golden retriever. And the golden retriever's name is Murphy.
Brady
Hi, Murphy.
Katie Nolan
It's a good name. And he celebrates with the family in a way that is really sweet.
Brady
It's really sweet. And it's like that dog is just so happy that everyone's happy.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Now, the opposite almost of this, I feel, is what happened with Kelvin Banks Jr. S baby. Did you see that?
Brady
Oh, who threw up?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Again, it just. It reminds us.
Katie Nolan
See, now, when he got picked, the baby took a real ride. The excitement, the jostling. This is just a gif that we're basically watching. This isn't really doing it for me, but the baby got jostled around so much in all the excitement, and then later, you just see the baby go like.
Brady
I love stuff like that because it is just a reminder that, you know, this is just.
Katie Nolan
It's just family.
Brady
These are just families that are hanging out together. And it's like, yeah, the dog's gonna get excited. Baby's gonna throw. Like, I don't know. I love stuff like that.
Katie Nolan
I do. This is the stuff about the draft that you almost got me when you were like, it's a nice moment.
Brady
It is nice.
Katie Nolan
It's fun to see them in the last time. You're gonna really see them in their, like, human family element and see how everybody reacts to the pic being picked. I think that's great. I think seeing your baby puke and your dog flip out, it's great. I do love that. I love the years when they're, like, analyzing if that girl was Looking at his phone. And if he took. There's always like some random drama. One year there was like a Jack Links jerky, sent their yeti to be at someone's house. And then I remember being like, if that kid didn't get drafted when he was supposed to, does the yeti show up the next day? He's getting paid by the hour.
Brady
Where does the yeti go?
Katie Nolan
It's such a fat. I mean, that part of it is fascinating. Also, did you see Adam Schweitzer fashion.
Brady
Choice with the turtleneck and such?
Katie Nolan
He wore a button down shirt, tie, hoodie, sweatshirt, thin hoodie, sweatshirt, suit jacket.
Brady
Right. Well, I think he was in Lambo.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
And he thought perhaps that's what he needed to do for the elements and still wanted to look professional.
Katie Nolan
It doesn't. Is the thing.
Brady
No, it was too much stuff. You got to pick one thing.
Katie Nolan
You got a wardrobe department. I know you do. I know you do.
Brady
You can do. I don't know. I will say it didn't bother me as much, I think, because the draft, being at Lambeau and being outside at a. That was also dicey.
Katie Nolan
So dicey.
Brady
Who knows what that could have been. So dicey at that time. I don't know. I didn't mind it because it had the vibe of like, you know, how we all feel when the weather changes. I'm like, I have to scramble. I don't know.
Katie Nolan
I plan for this outfit, but now it's like 20 degrees colder than I.
Brady
Thought it would be. A coat, but with a tank top.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, you're right.
Brady
So there was. There was something. There was something very human. I think that's the thing we're talking about too, is like there's these very human elements that happen during the draft that you don't see all the time.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
And to me, that was the first time I've thought Adam was a human. No, but. But it felt very like, ah, geez. I don't know. What's it gonna be?
Katie Nolan
It does feel like Wilbon opened the floodgates when he started wearing that, like, quarter zip or whatever underneath a. I.
Brady
Think the only thing that it makes me. Oh, I don't even know if I want to say this. I feel like they can get away with more fashion things than we can. Than. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
So I feel like there's.
Katie Nolan
That's why I'm saying let's make fun of his makeup.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Talk about the way his face is beat. You know, enough about us. Let's get back to them. Is what I'M saying let's criticize their fashion, their Lukes.
Brady
The, the, the only disappointment I had, there was a big trade obviously at the beginning, but then there weren't as many trades. To me, there's something really fun about that where it's like all these grown men scrambling and oh, there's a trade they don't got. There's something really fun about that. There wasn't as much panic as there usually.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. It was all Shador based panic. It felt like they were panicking about their predictions coming true, not about like something crazy's unfolding.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yes, yes, I get that. Again, I didn't watch any of it. The Patriots top pick Will Campbell told his quote after being drafted was, I'm going to fight and die to protect Drake May with everything I've got. Then we find out he's dating his quarterback at LSU's sister.
Brady
So I believe him.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I wonder if he's going to start dating Drake May's sister.
Brady
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
You know, that's what he needs to do to be like, I put my life on the line for this guy. This is my future. This is my brother in law.
Brady
I think that that's a ringing endorsement of someone.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. That they'll fight and die for them. No, that he's dating.
Brady
That he was dating and didn't. His, his quarterback from LSU was like, he's the best dude in the world.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I think that's an incredible.
Brady
And he's like a young. He's like a fucking kid dating your sister. And you're like, I love that, man.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
I mean that's, it's a good endorsement. That's like when you're like you. When somebody's ex wife is like, no, he's a good guy.
Katie Nolan
No, he's good. I wish I could hate him. But.
Brady
But I can't.
Katie Nolan
He's a good guy.
Brady
I don't know. I think Will Campbell. You're all right.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. You happy with the, the Bears, how the Bears did in the draft?
Brady
Yeah. I think I'm more surprised that we're talking about the offense with the Bears. Like this is such a thing that I've had to get used to being focused on that side of that team because it, that was just never, that was just never what you talked about. When it came to the Bears. It was always the defense. But I'm, I'm being a little relaxed. I'm not getting too excited. Obviously this is a different pick than last year's.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Pick. Which was a Huge pick for the Bears, both of them, really. But, you know, when we. When we got Caleb Williams, and then I said to my husband, you know, I'm like, so excited. And my husband was like, you know, maybe just. Just relax. Like, don't get too excited about it. And I was like, you jerk. How dare you? How dare you take away my joy at a time? And then he was right. Like, we went 5 and 12.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
So I'm. I think it's interesting. Two tight ends. That's interesting. You're definitely protecting Caleb. Yeah, I like that.
Katie Nolan
Good.
Brady
We got Cole and Colston, our tight ends.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, that's good.
Brady
Just two guys from the Midwest, big old dummies, protecting Caleb Williams.
Katie Nolan
Hey, things could be worse.
Brady
Things could be a lot worse.
Katie Nolan
How much basketball are you watching? You paying attention to the postseason at all?
Brady
Not much. I mean, we can talk about it. Some of it. I, I fell out of basketball.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
I, I do think that the NBA is not exciting.
Katie Nolan
Hot take.
Brady
I, I, I think hot take.
Katie Nolan
Common.
Brady
Guys. I think the NBA is not at a. I think it's. It's at a lower point right now.
Katie Nolan
In your life or in its life?
Brady
I mean, I think as a Bulls fan, of course.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
You can't not say it's my life.
Katie Nolan
Yes, of course. In your life.
Brady
I mean, this would. I'd be singing a very different tune.
Katie Nolan
You're like, basketball is popping off.
Brady
Basketball rules. It's ever been better, you know, if we're not like, get losing playing games by like, 40 points.
Katie Nolan
But, well, listen, at least you're not The Lakers down 31 in your series.
Brady
Wild. But how crazy is it that I was like. I was like, texting my friends, I was like, I'm rooting for the Lakers.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
In what world.
Katie Nolan
Because of Luca.
Brady
I really love him.
Katie Nolan
He's. I mean, he's. And what happened in Dallas was so. I love him unceremonious. And it's just like you're rooting for him to win.
Brady
Did you see the camera guy who, when AD Got hurt, went right to Nico.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
This is not interesting for audio, but do you know what I'm talking about? I mean, that guy immediately were like, you know that accountability. That guy was like, get him.
Katie Nolan
Get him. And you heard that Nico said that he just underestimated how much Luca must have meant to the city.
Brady
You did.
Katie Nolan
That's what he said.
Brady
That's like getting divorced and being like, I underestimated how much my. Your mom meant to you kids.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I really didn't. I overlooked I understood she was your.
Brady
Mom and I get that. But I didn't see, see why you not having her anymore.
Katie Nolan
I get now that that would be.
Brady
So, just so tough for you to deal with.
Katie Nolan
Emotionally devastating. I see that now. I wish I'd thought about that.
Brady
Come on, man.
Katie Nolan
Before I divorced her.
Brady
But I, I, I love him.
Katie Nolan
I love him.
Brady
I do love him.
Katie Nolan
Well, JJ Redick.
Brady
Poet poet JJ Reddick.
Katie Nolan
Head coach of the Lakers, kept the same five players on the court for the entire second half of game. Game four, which resulted in the Lakers 10.4 quarter lead to diminish and ultimately ending in a Lakers three point loss.
Brady
What was the rationale there?
Katie Nolan
Reddick said it was not a planned thing to only use five players in the second half. That's the only intel I have on that. No team since at least 1998 had used only five players in one half of a playoff game. According to Elias Sports Bureau, 1998, which to us feels like it was a couple years ago, was quite some time ago.
Brady
That feels inconsistent with the bench that they have too.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I mean, they're not the deep. I guess they're not the deep, but.
Brady
It'S not, it's not.
Katie Nolan
Also, it's like LeBron's, let's let him be old. He's old.
Brady
Yeah. But it's pretty cool that he's amazing. You know, it is always jar. You know what I was, you know, it's very jarring as you get older. You know when you love sports so much and then as you get older and they start talking about people younger than you being like, like, time to hang it up.
Katie Nolan
I know this dec. Old man.
Brady
Oh boy. I don't know how he gets out of bed every day. But you know what is also starting to happen is with their weights, like when they'll be like, he's 5, 10, 160, and I'll be like, damn, damn.
Katie Nolan
Good, Good for him.
Brady
Yeah, that's a, that's a, that's my goal weight. Like now, now I'm at a point where it's like, even their weights are like. I remember that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, those times were nice.
Brady
Oh, those were nice days.
Katie Nolan
Good times.
Brady
But he is, I mean, yeah, he's 40, but he. Doesn't he spend, what is it, 12 million dollars a year on simply maintaining his.
Katie Nolan
What have you been studying up on his diet?
Brady
It's not even his diet. It's like these things he does, like chirogenic, freezy things like that kind of stuff.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Probably because he's a But I just feel like. Let him sit for a minute. Let him take a seat for a second. Second.
Brady
I don't think somebody else, too.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I don't know. It just feels.
Brady
How much control do you think he has? Like.
Katie Nolan
Well, that's always been.
Brady
If LeBron wants to play the whole half.
Katie Nolan
And considering that JJ Redick, before this, the job he had immediately before this was co hosting a podcast with LeBron, I feel like, you know, probably. He probably has a lot of input.
Brady
But I think LeBron didn't. LeBron's been playing great.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I know. I'm just saying.
Brady
I know what you're saying.
Katie Nolan
At some point, someone's got to take a little break and breathe and drink water.
Brady
No, I agree.
Katie Nolan
And hydrate. Just, like, let somebody else get some minutes out there and then pop them back in.
Brady
Now, I will say, when I played basketball.
Katie Nolan
Last week.
Brady
Last week. No, when I was. When I played basketball. This was a long time ago. And before games, my parents used to give me a Diet Coke instead of a Coke.
Katie Nolan
I mean, and that's good parenting.
Brady
Like, when I had a game, yeah, that's what I had.
Katie Nolan
But you need the sugar. It was almost like, counterintuitive.
Brady
Wrong. They were wrong.
Katie Nolan
Yes, they were wrong.
Brady
But in their minds, it was like. Like, oh, she's got a game.
Katie Nolan
Healthy. We'll go healthy.
Brady
Here's a diet coat. So I can't really.
Katie Nolan
Burping the whole game.
Brady
I was so bad. And I was this height. I was five, ten.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
In, like, third grade. And. And. And I was terrible.
Katie Nolan
Still nothing. Bad stat line.
Brady
Terrible.
Katie Nolan
Terrible.
Brady
Goose egg.
Katie Nolan
It's not for everybody. Some of us are here to watch.
Brady
Some of us are here to watch and be fans and be excited about it.
Katie Nolan
Some of us are cuter going, go, team.
Brady
And to have two parents be like. Like, that's what we have. And she's so bad. You just tell that. They were just like, oh, no.
Katie Nolan
We really hoped for more.
Brady
Maybe volleyball. No.
Katie Nolan
By the time she's of age, the W will be popping off. We really thought she'd go, no, no.
Brady
Bad.
Katie Nolan
Not close.
Brady
Not close.
Katie Nolan
Well, we wish the best of luck to the Lakers. I've been enjoying that. Pistons, Knicks series. If you were looking for a way to get back into the basketball, that.
Brady
One has been, I should say. I'm not. Not into it. I think the other thing, too, is. Is when baseball starts, then I get. Baseball's how I disassociate. Yeah, so true. It's just how I did. And the Cubs have been so fun. Yeah, they really are fun this year. They really have been fun.
Katie Nolan
Talk to me about the Cubs.
Brady
It's been so fun. It's like, you know, I was telling one of my buddies, one of my buddies is a Padres fan and you know, I was saying how it's just such a mark of a true die hard baseball fan. When April is when you're like, that's it, we're boned.
Katie Nolan
I know you're like, buddy, there's so hard.
Brady
There's a thousand games. But so I will say it's I don't want to get again. I'm trying. I've grown up. I'm trying to not get super excited. But I think you can't deny that we have a fun. There's nothing worse than a team that is bad or mediocre and just not even fun.
Katie Nolan
No vibes.
Brady
There's no vibes and that's not the case anymore.
Katie Nolan
The vibes are high for the really cool. It is funny. Every year I have to relearn like, oh, this is marathon, not a sprint. So instead of going like we're really going to drop two games to the Chicago White Sox, I'm like, what in the. What's wrong with this team? And then I go like, oh, well, in the grand scheme of things, it's not going to matter. It just sucks that they've got maybe four wins as a team and two of them are against me. That does hurt. But at some point it's no one's going to remember this and you've got to be in it for the Kuiper. That's right. Right. I don't know if you saw this. This is very close to home the for the Red Sox, but Jiren Duran came out in that documentary on Netflix about the Red Sox and admitted that he had struggled with thoughts of suicide and had even attempted to take his own life at one point. Was very honest about it in a way that like, I'm sure he didn't want to talk about. I'm sure he'd like it to not be talked about anymore. But he was very honest. It was probably helped a lot of people. On Sunday Sox playing the Guardians in Cleveland, a fan in the front row right near the Red Sox dugout yelled something inappropriate which we believe to either be there was someone said it was go kill yourself. It was also reported that somebody said you should have killed yourself when you had the chance.
Brady
And it was a kid too, right?
Katie Nolan
I think it was a man. What I saw it was like a.
Brady
Man Oh, I thought it was like someone in their 20s, but you never know.
Katie Nolan
Everybody ages differently these days.
Brady
Agreed.
Katie Nolan
So he could be anything. I don't want to claim, but he looked like a. Like a.
Brady
Someone who should know better.
Katie Nolan
Like a. During the seventh inning stretch, they're like holding back Jiren Duran from being upset with this guy. They kicked the guy out. To the credit of the fans in Cleveland, they all were like, it was him.
Brady
Y.
Katie Nolan
They went, get him out of here.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Everyone agreed it was a bad idea, but it's just to my question, what type of a piece of. Do you have to be at the end of April?
Brady
I'm not surprised to be bringing this heat.
Katie Nolan
Not to say that if this happened in the playoffs, you'd go, I get it. But if early April baseball game, and you're just yelling at this guy during God bless America, which is the most dystopian to watch the clip of the crowd God bless America screaming at each other. And I. I just was like, what the fuck? That guy should be banned from every ballpark in the league.
Brady
The guy should be just banned in general from. From anything joyful.
Katie Nolan
Because how could you be that mad?
Brady
You're not mad. You're. That's other things too. Right. It's like it says so much more about the person that did that than the person that they're yelling at. Right. Right. So what he did made him uncomfortable for. For reasons that we can't. I'm not sticking up for this guy. This guy's a monster. But it's also just this. These little dick trolls is like the thing now, you know? And it. It's just.
Katie Nolan
Can we be done with it?
Brady
No.
Katie Nolan
When do we get out of that era? What.
Brady
People are out of this really severely. People have broken brains. And I just don't see any world where you think that that's the.
Katie Nolan
You're at the front row of a baseball game also. It's lovely baseball game. What are you doing?
Brady
It's not like he's a. It's not like he's a. Not that this would justify it, but it's not like he's a political figure. It's not like he's. You know, it's just. It's a baseball player going on in.
Katie Nolan
The world right now. You really just wanted to. How lucky you must be to have no. Clearly no experience with suicide in your life. Whether it's like your own thoughts or people you've lost in your life. Clearly this fan must have no experience with it to. You should just Toss that out so callously.
Brady
Right. Or does and has taken and needs.
Katie Nolan
To probably go process that.
Brady
Correct.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
But I just. I'm glad that it was. Reacted to the way that it was.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
Because I think it was very clear that he is supported and people are grateful for what he did and the vast majority of us are very much on his side.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
I was very happy that that's the way that it went down.
Katie Nolan
That's one of those ones you click on the. And you go, here we. And then you see the comments and you're like, okay, okay. Not to say faith renewed in humanity, because what a low bar that would be. But I at least was like, at least we're all going, are you fucking kidding?
Brady
There's always going to be a horrible person.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
It's the scary part is when that horrible person is getting support.
Katie Nolan
That's right.
Brady
For being horrible.
Katie Nolan
That's right.
Brady
I mean, we saw at the draft. You did not see, but you saw. I saw. You know, the draft was in Green Bay. Green Bay is not a place that. Like Chicago.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
I think we all know that.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
Even the most casual of fans, of course. But they did, you know, Steve McMichael recently just passed away and they, you know, Roger Goodell did a thing about him and then also talking about Walter Payton and the whole. The whole crowd was completely respectful and lovely and I mean, I'm sure there was somebody there that wasn't right. But. But I was like, oh, wow. And then of course, as soon as he was like. And now the Bears pick, they were all like chicken, you know, and it was funny because I said to my dad, I was like, hey, that, that was awesome that they were so like cool and respectful about those guys. And in my dad's brain, he was like, why wouldn't they be like, what are you talking about? Like, those are heroes. And I'm like, I know, but it's. That's not how people are.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
Like that. Sacred.
Katie Nolan
Especially tribally.
Brady
Correct. Correct. Like, you know, it's like people are. People are smart, crowds are dumb. You know, but it was. That was. I'm gonna hold on to that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
As something that I thought was really lovely.
Katie Nolan
Those lovely little moments.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Okay, for our last thing, we have a little bit game to play because you.
Brady
Oh, it's well thought out.
Katie Nolan
It's not because you are currently the co. Showrunner for Harley Quinn. Where traditional villains become heroes or anti heroes and the lines are. Are all blurred.
Brady
Okay. Wow. Somebody is cool and does know their stuff.
Katie Nolan
It's called hero or villain. These are stories from this week, news stories. We're gonna, I'm gonna ask you if the main character here, if you think they are a hero or a villain, before we begin. Yes, ma'am.
Brady
Should we make, should we come to a consensus of what we think a hero and a villain is?
Katie Nolan
If you'd like to.
Brady
Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Or you can just describe in each one why they are the hero or the guy.
Brady
I think I'd like to do that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I think I'd like you to do that as well. I do, I believe that.
Brady
That's, that was great.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Good. I'm glad we did that.
Brady
Yep.
Katie Nolan
Okay. First story in. Hero or villain? Yankees closer Devin Williams. So the Yankees traded for him in the off season. He's always had a beard. The Yankees have always banned beards. He petitioned to get them to reverse their ban. And the Yankees finally caved this year, allowing facial hair. And now Williams has started the season with an ERA of 11.25 and on Sunday was removed from the team's closer role. Is he the hero or is he the villain?
Brady
He's still a hero.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Because that's my type. What, with a beard. Love beards.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And honestly, a beard ban in baseball was so stupid.
Brady
So stupid. And like, we all saw what happened to Johnny Damon. My God, it's just like, oh, that's what it looks like.
Katie Nolan
It looks wrong. Or when it's right.
Brady
Right. You know, So I, I, I still think that he's a hero.
Katie Nolan
I think he fell on his sword even he was like, look, I stink now, but I'm gonna, but I'm gonna.
Brady
Make sure that before I go right those after me.
Katie Nolan
That's right. You know, I'll hold the door open.
Brady
For the bearded, hot, dumb, bearded pitchers for these that I love so much.
Katie Nolan
Ohee. Yeah, that's right. He's like, look, my impact is bigger than baseball.
Brady
Yeah. And I, I salute him.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Yeah. The only Yankee all salute. Okay. Pirates outfielder Tommy Fam. On Wednesday, Fam was touched by a fan reaching over the left field wall as he chased down a double in a game against the Angels. The Angels did not eject the fan and as the fan continued to jeer Fam after Tommy Fam made a jerking off motion at him. Yes, we're all familiar. Fam was suspended one game by Major League Baseball and fined an undisclosed amount. The suspension alone for a single game check would cost him about $25,000. He's now reportedly considering legal action against the fan.
Brady
Hero or villain I'm not a fam fan, just being where I'm from. Where I'm from with a ph. But I think he did. My man did nothing wrong.
Katie Nolan
Nothing wrong.
Brady
He did nothing wrong. First of all. It's hilarious.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Always funny.
Brady
The little subtle jerk off gesture is top tier, so there's that. Also, the fan is a psycho.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Why are we not caring about that aspect of it?
Katie Nolan
Why is he not kicked out of the game? What do we.
Brady
No, absolutely. He's touching me. I hesitate to call him a hero because I don't want to go on record, you know?
Katie Nolan
Right, sure, of course. In case anything else.
Brady
In case anything comes up.
Katie Nolan
Right, sure, of course.
Brady
About me. But I think in this case, he.
Katie Nolan
Is, in this one specific.
Brady
He is definitely not a villain.
Katie Nolan
That's right. Not the villain.
Brady
No.
Katie Nolan
And like you touched him and then all he did was say, touch yourself.
Brady
Like, why didn't. He didn't. Exactly. Why didn't. He didn't. He didn't. Don't touch you up.
Katie Nolan
Touch yourself.
Brady
He didn't try to. If anything. That's life advice. Lovely.
Katie Nolan
I think it was nice. Life advice.
Brady
Instead of reaching out and touching someone, touch yourself. Be respectful and touch yourself.
Katie Nolan
Go home and touch yourself.
Brady
I love this reframe.
Katie Nolan
I think it's beautiful.
Brady
I love it.
Katie Nolan
The Bill's gm, Brandon Bean.
Brady
Okay, the Bean.
Katie Nolan
Bean, our Bean queen, went on the Jeremy and Joe show on WGR 500 in Buffalo to talk about all of these.
Brady
Sounds like nonsense, by the way.
Katie Nolan
I know. To talk about his team's NFL draft class and said, quote, while you guys were bitching in 2018 about Josh Allen, you guys wanted Josh Rosen, and now you guys are bitching that we don't have a receiver. Bean said, I don't get it. We just scored 30 points in a row for eight straight games a year ago. I get you guys asking why we didn't have receivers, but I don't understand it now. You just saw us lead the league in points. When you add all the postseason, no one scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, including the super bowl champions. So I get it. You gotta have a show and you gotta have something to about. But bitching about wide receiver is one of the dumbest arguments I've heard. And then the host might have been Jeremy, might have been Joe.
Brady
We don't know.
Katie Nolan
No way of knowing.
Brady
No way.
Katie Nolan
They like it that way. Yes.
Brady
Said okay and took it. Well, Jeremy or Joe is the hero. Okay, talk to me about that because, look, I don't. I don't like that. He. That's what he got all riled up about. I mean, come on, man. First of all, I have so much respect for Buffalo fans. They. They love that team so much.
Katie Nolan
So much.
Brady
And sports radio is obviously, you know, I'm married to an Eagles fan. It's like the. It's like that sports radio is such a. Is so important, you know, in that. In that world. And. And so, yes, he is bringing up a point that they are complaining about something that perhaps they shouldn't complain about. I don't agree with how hard he went at Jeremy and Joe.
Katie Nolan
Sure. Two nice guys. I think. Maybe.
Brady
I don't think. Cut to. I don't think that that's where you needed to direct your rage, but I have to say, Jeremy or Joe. What a hero. To simply say, okay, and I'm.
Katie Nolan
And we're not gonna feel and we will not be finding out which of you it was. Jerry.
Brady
Joe. I am.
Katie Nolan
Jer.
Brady
I. You are the hero in this story.
Katie Nolan
Jo. Amy.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Good job out there.
Brady
You're the hero in this story. You were very mature for sports radio. You were very mature. And. And you know what you did? You did the right thing, because when those mics went off, I bet you weren't mature.
Katie Nolan
I bet you weren't.
Brady
And that's okay, because we need more to be immature in the privacy of our own homes with our friends and family.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Hop in your group chat and say all the dumb stuff you want to say. You don't have to log on to the Internet that.
Brady
No, you don't.
Katie Nolan
Or do it on your sports radio program.
Brady
So thank you, Jo. Joel. Thank you.
Katie Nolan
All right. Lufkin, Texas resident Avante Nicholson, a Texas man is accused of devising a scavenger hunt with five plastic Easter eggs all filled with marijuana, according to authorities.
Brady
I saw this.
Katie Nolan
Lufkin police are searching for Avante Nicholson, who's accused of planting the eggs in three parks and behind a Motel 6 on Easter. Police said they went through Nicholson's Facebook page and found multiple photos of the eggs, including one photo of the five eggs with hints to their location. Four of the five plastic eggs were recovered by police.
Brady
So I'm gonna say something that I think you're gonna find surprising.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
I think he's the villain.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
But here's why. It's not for. Why you think the defense that you always give these crazy, you know, white Christian ladies who scream, I can't even take my kids trick or treating anymore, because they're gonna get drugs. And all this Stuff. And you're always like, who the hell would waste their drugs on kids? Yeah, right.
Katie Nolan
100%.
Brady
Now, that's not what this man was doing. No, I know. He was doing, like, a fun thing.
Katie Nolan
Sure.
Brady
But unfortunately, I feel like this is gonna be cited 100% from here on out.
Katie Nolan
Remember Avante Nicholson? Sometimes people just put their weed in their eggs, and I love that they.
Brady
Would just know his name as well. You know what I mean? It's like. So I just think. Again, I don't think this was very well thought out.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Brady
I like the spirit of it.
Katie Nolan
I like the fun. Let's have a little spin on adult Easter.
Brady
I love it.
Katie Nolan
I Love the Motel 6 getting involved.
Brady
Love it. But I think this is going to hurt more than. And it's. It's gonna help. And I'm not mad at him.
Katie Nolan
No. Certainly not.
Brady
Really the villain. Are these are the people who are gonna interpret this as a way to say that, you know, kids are in danger of being given drugs on holidays.
Katie Nolan
Where's that fifth egg? That's what I wanna know.
Brady
Can I ask a question? So he. This wasn't with his friends. This was just like a public, fun thing. It was like how they do those scavenger hunters hunts.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I think somebody was like, this will be funny. I'll. I'll do this. And he gave clues about where to find them.
Brady
I mean, that's pretty cool.
Katie Nolan
Also kind of crazy, that. But like, you're the cops, right? If I give you. You're supposed to be able to find your own clues to follow and solve.
Brady
A case, and you still haven't found.
Katie Nolan
If I'm giving you the clues of where to find these eggs and you're the cops who should know the town better than anybody else. And also, again, be able to follow clues. Right. You can't find that fifth egg.
Brady
I will say for some. And again, there's no judgment here. And I'm sorry to generalize, but for someone who decided to do a. Marijuana. A poorly thought out marijuana scavenger hunt, is it possible there's only four eggs?
Katie Nolan
Okay, that's a good point.
Brady
Or the fifth egg, he's like, oh, shoot, I didn't hide that fifth egg.
Katie Nolan
Oh, no, Where'd I put that?
Brady
Where'd I put that fifth egg?
Katie Nolan
And then he opens his glove compartment.
Brady
He'S like, shit, the fifth egg still in there. And then he's like. And actually, actually, awesome. Now I got sick. Now I got a bunch of weed.
Katie Nolan
Something to do today.
Brady
So I'm so sorry.
Katie Nolan
To Avante Nicholson.
Brady
I'm sorry, Avante. I'm sorry, Lufkin, Texas, to talk about the. The downside of what you did, but I think it is gonna be cited.
Katie Nolan
Accountability is important by crazy. And I think you're holding him accountable.
Brady
By Jack Chick type people. Do you remember Jack Chick? No, those little. Do you remember those little cartoons from about God and like, going to hell? Those little books?
Katie Nolan
Vaguely.
Brady
Those little Jack chicks.
Katie Nolan
Oh, yeah. Okay.
Brady
That's what those are called.
Katie Nolan
It feels Midwestern.
Brady
Everything I do.
Katie Nolan
I don't know if it was. If those. If the coastal elites got it.
Brady
I'm sure everything about me is a flyover. I'm just a flyover broad in.
Katie Nolan
In the best way. Okay, last one.
Brady
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Australian radio network. I don't know if it's Cada or Kata. They do things crazy down there. This past week, listeners discovered that one of this radio station's DJs, thigh th y does not actually exist. Her image and voice are AI generated and she had been hosting 4 hour music blocks daily for 6 months without anyone knowing the difference. The show's website states, if your day is looking a bit blah, let Thigh and Kata be the energy and vibe to get your mood lifted. Lifted. The radio network sparked outrage from listeners for their shady radio show. Even though there are currently no rules against the use of AI in broadcast content, according to the communications regulator down under, they were using an AI generated host for six months without telling anybody.
Brady
I mean, hero, because that's what I am. No, I. I mean, obviously that's the most villain you could possibly be. That sucks. I. I don't. How. I don't really think, first of all.
Katie Nolan
Thigh Thigh, come up with a real.
Brady
Name, you know what I mean? And like, have fun with it. But I. I think that that's. That just sucks.
Katie Nolan
Do we have an audio sample of what it sounded like to have an AI host Host your radio music block? I think we do. He better jump out and do it on feet. 2, 000 bucks.
Brady
Register to play@cater.com and make sure you're listening very carefully to win.
Katie Nolan
Okay, so here's the thing.
Brady
That girl was A.I.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. First of all, Kada. So now we know it's Kada. One of the skills that a radio DJ needs to have is to know when they can come in and when they have to be out by in order for the Dan. My fiance used to work at a radio and does this all the time. When we listen to the radio now, he'll like, know songs that are. That have like a long intro. Cuz he's like, oh, this song ruled because you could play it while you did your. And then you'd get out. And she didn't get in and out in time. So the AI didn't. The computer didn't do it better than a human would.
Brady
I think that that was all music. I think that that's speaking more towards what. But somebody. So somebody is still the DJ though, right? Somebody's there putting the AI in when it needs to be. It's sort of like you had when they tried to do self checkout, but then you still needed three people there to help people with the self checkout. It's like, well, what did we really accomplish?
Katie Nolan
Right? What did we save?
Brady
To me it's like, what are you saving?
Katie Nolan
It couldn't. If it's four hours a day. I bet they just.
Brady
Is this. Is this music for people on drugs? Quite frankly? Is this just like that crazy type of music that you just put on in the background?
Katie Nolan
Could be. While you're like.
Katie Rich
The next song was Regulate by Warren G. Okay.
Katie Nolan
Now so it's not music for people on drugs. It's music for cool people who have a good taste in music.
Brady
I just didn't know if it was.
Katie Rich
There's a lot of overlap.
Brady
You know those blocks of music that are just like. You know when you get in the Uber and you're like, oh, this guy's cranked up.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
And it's like he's listening to that stuff.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
I didn't know if maybe that's what it was.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And I. In which case you don't need robots. That's robot music anyway. Robots should be the dj. It's actually cultural appropriation. If a human.
Brady
My apologies, thigh for taking away. You know, sorry ankle, but that sucks. I think. I think that's the thing that really. I think that's the thing that is really villainous there is that you didn't. You have to say something.
Katie Nolan
You have to say something. Something.
Brady
I. I think you do.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Like I'm pretty sure that Will. I am. Has a. AI co host on his SiriusXM radio show. But he said it.
Brady
But he said it.
Katie Nolan
He said it. He's like, this is my AI co host.
Brady
Great.
Katie Nolan
You gotta say it.
Brady
I think you gotta say it.
Katie Nolan
You have to say it because then otherwise.
Brady
Otherwise it's like a. It's like a C minus black mirror episode.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I haven't watched the new season. Have you? Yeah.
Brady
And I have to say that it's tough to Watch now. Because it feels very.
Katie Nolan
I know. Adjacent. It's like it's so close. Yeah.
Brady
It used to feel very like, wow, freaky.
Katie Nolan
Oh, he had sex with a goat or whatever.
Brady
And now you're like, oh, oh.
Katie Nolan
So that's. We are two clicks away from that.
Brady
And we won't even know when it happens.
Katie Nolan
Probably happening now. And we don't even know a thousand percent. So I, I, that's why I haven't watched it yet. But I heard it's good.
Brady
Could there's good one. There's a couple that I would. I think are fantastic.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
But I do wonder if it needs to go through a reboot.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Based on how things.
Katie Nolan
Based on.
Brady
Based on. Insert all gestures to gestures wildly around her.
Katie Nolan
Katie Rich, thank you so much for being here and for talking sports with me. It feels like I'm in my 20s again and I really needed that. So thanks if Me too.
Brady
Except my metabolism is a bag of hair and I have so much dysport in my fucking forehead. Is that how you say it?
Katie Nolan
I thought it was dye sport.
Brady
Dye sport. Really Sounds so aggressive. I know.
Katie Nolan
That's dying for sport. Isn't that what being a woman is?
Brady
Shoot this in your face. Die sport.
Katie Nolan
If people want to watch Harley Quinn, where can they do that?
Brady
Harley Quinn, the Animated series.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Yeah.
Brady
Is on Max. So you can watch it whenever you'd like. Season five, the entire fifth season is now out.
Katie Nolan
Amazing.
Brady
On Max. It's fantastic. We're really, really proud of it. And also take a. Take a glance at Kite man, which was. Is also on Max. Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Spin off.
Brady
The spin off of Harley Quinn. Kite man with featuring someone who never deserved a spin off now but got one. But now got one.
Katie Nolan
And I bet it's good.
Brady
And it is good. Good.
Katie Nolan
So check it out. Lovely Harley Quinn and Kiteman.
Brady
Take a break. You got to disassociate somehow.
Katie Nolan
Watch a cartoon.
Brady
So let's watch cartoons.
Katie Nolan
You deserve it.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
You really do deserve it.
Brady
You absolutely.
Katie Nolan
We all deserve it. So, Katie Rich, thank you.
Brady
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
You're the best. So happy to see you.
Brady
You look great.
Katie Nolan
You look great. I love you.
Brady
Love you.
Katie Nolan
Love your hair. Okay. Big thanks to Katie Rich again for being here. What a doll. I'm obsessed. Chris, it's Tuesday, so we gotta tell people what to watch this week. You've got some stuff.
Isabella
I think I do. The first one. It took me a few months to actually talk about cricket. But we're talking about cricket this morning.
Katie Nolan
Oh, good.
Isabella
IPL, the Indian Premier League. We've got the Royals versus the Indians. That's on Thursday, May 1st at 10:00am Eastern. You can watch that game on Willow TV. The reason why you should watch this game game is because 14 year old Vav Suryavanchi hit a century from 35 balls earlier this week. He's only 14. He's playing in a professional league. He scored 100 runs from only 35 deliveries. That's what that means.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
Which is a phenomenal effort for from anyone, especially a 14 year old. He became the fastest Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League as well as the youngest person to score a century in a T20 match. That's cricket. That's only played. Played 20 overs per team rather than 50 over cricket, which is one day cricket or five day cricket, which is test cricket.
Katie Nolan
Of course.
Isabella
He also became. He also became the youngest player to ever feature in the ipl. And the very first bowl that he faced, he hit a six. So that's when you. When the ball goes over the, the boundary on the full. That's worth six points. And then if you hit it to the boundary ground. Yeah. Essentially it's like a home run. Six runs.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, home runs. Six runs, huh?
Isabella
So he got started quickly. This is a phenomenal effort from Vaibhav Suryavanchi. So he's definitely a name to keep an eye out for.
Katie Rich
Indians, Royals. It's Granky and Corey Kluber going tonight from Kansas City.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
All right. What else? What else you got I can watch? We're watching IPL by the way.
Isabella
Willow tv. Willow TV is a streaming service that you can subscribe to that you get all the cricket from all around the world. I normally only subscribe during the Ashes. That's when I watching cricket over here. That's what. That's when I tune in the most.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
But it's all good for IPL and anything, anything you want. Any. Any type of cricket.
Katie Nolan
All right.
Katie Rich
How often do you make something up in the middle of a cricket story?
Isabella
Just see what to find out.
Katie Nolan
Be really unfortunate because I'm just going like oh yeah a. You know he hit it for a century. He scored a century. Same. What else, Chris? A little more.
Isabella
MLB. Yes, baseball. We got Cubs at Pirates. Thursday, May 1st at 12:35pm Eastern. You can watch that on Fubo or MLB TV. So you can pop a Nuna 35. This is Colin Ray versus Paul Skeens. We've spoken about Paul Skin's on the show before. Young phenom from the Pirates. He's coming off a 6.1 inning shut out against the Dodgers. If you haven't had a chance to watch him yet, go pop a nooner on Thursday. Watch him face the Cubs and. And see how he goes. See for yourself.
Katie Nolan
So good. He's so. As a person, but he's so. There's no emotion. He's so good, though. He's so good and interesting and fun to watch. What else? One more.
Isabella
We've got the Kentucky Derby, Saturday, May 3rd. Yep.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God.
Isabella
That's on its that the. The main race will be 6:57pm Eastern on NBC. It'll be the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby.
Katie Nolan
Very exciting.
Isabella
Go check it out.
Katie Nolan
One of the best things about the Kentucky Derby, Isabella, is that after they or any horsing horse racing event, the they have a person, a reporter, like a sideline reporter, but they're on a horse and they like ride next to the horse and interview them.
Chris
Oh, I love that.
Katie Nolan
It's great. I'm like, that is such a skill that you need to have that. Like you couldn't cover this unless you knew how to do that. And I can't imagine doing that. So it's always very good.
Brady
You should do that.
Chris
Basketball, the guy who's commentating should just be like dribbling while he's talking.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I agree. And Brady, sorry, were you taking issue with the fact they don't interview the horse?
Katie Rich
The horse did all the work and they're like, hey, you over there take credit for this?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, the ones that, that can talk go into tv. They don't usually go into racing.
Katie Rich
Not the manual labor.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, These ones are. Are more focused. Also, lots of playoff sports are happening as well. I know it's Chris's segment and I know he wants you to watch cricket, but we got a lot of basketball today. That's usually Chris's big sport. We got the Pistons. Go Pistons. You know, go Nicks. Right. Today we have the Celtics. We have the P. The Nuggets are playing too. It's a big. That Nuggets game.
Isabella
There's so much. It's just like that blanket statement. Watch all I know.
Katie Nolan
You gotta watch all NHL.
Isabella
Hopefully one of these series, I'm sure at least one will make it to a game seven. We don't know yet whether any will, but it seems like there's a good chance some of the series might go to game seven. So if they do, definitely watch game sevens, especially in the hockey. Because when you get to a Game 7 in the NHL playoffs, it is awesome.
Katie Rich
Katie, do you want, do you want Celtics, Nuggets, NBA Finals or not one Celtics, Nuggets, NBA Finals?
Katie Nolan
No, I mean, I wouldn't. I don't. I don't know. I don't care either way. I just like, I. He loves. He's closer to the Nuggets than I am to the Celtics. So I would feel guilty about, like, kicking his team's ass because it would hurt him more than it would even make me feel good. Uh, I like that it, that the two. We have the two options so that if anybody gets knocked out, it's like I can root for his and he could root for mine. But no, I don't. If it happens, it happens. But I don't like introducing strife into the relationship. I don't think we need to find reasons to fight and have animosity against one another. So I'm not going to say I hope it doesn't happen. I hope that the Celtics make it to the finals. I hope the Nuggets go as far as they can go and that he's happy, but I don't think we need that. You know, we've got enough to. He leaves the seat up. So we've got enough to yell at each other about. We don't need extra stuff. That's it for our podcast, guys. We're going to do. It's going to be hockey heavy on Thursday. I'm going to my friends Pete and DJ from the hockey podcast. What chaos are going to come by and help us break down the NHL playoffs, which will be very fun. They're like a, a, a good. I told them they're the best ambassadors of the sport. So if you've been trying to get into hockey or. Or what or if you love hockey, Thursday will probably be the episode for you. But yeah, if you want to email us casuals@kaden gmail.com voicemail 646-801-0043 on IG tick tock. We are at Casuals, the podcast. I don't say this one that much, but if you wanna. If you're liking this, if you're enjoying this rate it, give us a review, send it to your friends and tell them to listen to it. If you're a man who is married and you and you're send this to your wife. This is. I've gotten so many. They're my favorite reviews. I've gotten so many messages that are like, hey, I listen to this sports podcast with my wife and she loves it and we like, like sports together now. So it's just, you know, one case, one use case of how you can enjoy this podcast. But, you know, maybe it's sports for your wives. I think that's it, Brady. That's it. It. I covered everything. Okay. And I said Charlie Dixon got fired.
Katie Rich
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Okay, great. We will see you on Thursday. Love you. Mean it. Bye.
