Hello! It's the podcast that doesn't want a Large Farva, it wants a g*****n liter of cola. Today, Katie and the Casualties discuss Pete Crow-Armstrong, Kristin Cavallari, and the idea that Babe Ruth didn't actually exist, Aaron Rodgers questioning why ESPN wasn't covering the Anthony Fauci hearings, Stefon Diggs signing in Washington, Caitlin Clark's no-win situation, the return of Hard Knocks and preseason football, a said farewell to the NHL's emergency backup goalies, and Isabella's first time watching the intro to Super Troopers. Then, Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske of Broken Lizard join the show [36:08] to talk about Super Troopers 3, the legacy of the original film at the 25-year mark, the origins of Farva, mustache care, the terror of sharing a scene with Brian Cox after Succession, Blind Ranking the greatest Super Troopers quotes, the sparing of Jim Edwards' mailbox, writing a Super Troopers plot after marijuana gets legaliz...

Katie Nolan
Hey, Isabella, I got an update on a story.
Isabella
Ooh, which one?
Katie Nolan
Earlier this week, we were talking about Martha Reeves.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
In the national anthem from the Return of the wpbl. Which Shout out the return of the wpbl. We love women's baseball. The Woopubla. Famously. Did you see the video? Remember we were talking about how her backup singers. It seemed like maybe they weren't on the same page?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Did you see the video of the rehearsal before the performance?
Isabella
I think so.
Katie Nolan
Let's play. Let's just play the. Let's just take a listen to this. Is Martha talking to her backup singers right before they go out there. Now you singing with me. I'm singing the same note.
Steve Lemme
I'm singing.
Dan Soder
Why?
Steve Lemme
I don't think I need them.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I don't think I need him. I don't think I need them.
Kevin Heffernan
And you know what?
Katie Nolan
I think she has every right to do that. I think so, too. I think there was a lot of confusion. The girls didn't seem very happy with her either.
Isabella
I don't think they wanted to be there either.
Katie Nolan
I know. And it's. I also. She's like, why is. Why are you singing the same part as me? Except they are all singing the main melody that none of them are harmonizing. So I'm not really sure.
Isabella
Singing at different volumes. I know.
Katie Nolan
And different key. Wrong key. That's not the right key, by the way. I don't think I. If you haven't seen the video, she's sitting next to the women. When she goes, I don't think I need them. Just right in front of their face. Somehow this got, dare I say, funnier.
Isabella
Oh, for sure.
Katie Nolan
It's just like, what happened here.
Isabella
I know.
Chris
My favorite part was, right as this is happening, the guy that's standing in front of her that's part of, like, the crew that's putting this together, just takes the microphone off her. Cause he's like, everyone in the stadium can hear you.
Katie Nolan
And he takes away the mic.
Chris
Cause he knows that this isn't a really good look.
Katie Nolan
I just think, you know, if the rehearsal goes like that, you can call it. You can just push play on a national anthem, and people will go, oh, maybe for the second game, they'll have someone sing it. This was a little bit. You know what? I love it. It got people talking about the wpbl, didn't it?
Isabella
Yeah, The WPUBLA all.
Katie Nolan
And if Isabella and I have learned anything this week, all publicity is good publicity.
Dan Soder
Yep.
Katie Nolan
Let's roll. This episode is presented by Xfinity. Hello, and welcome to Casuals, a sports podcast for anybody. Anybody who cares even a little bit about sports. We're getting you caught up on everything that happened, and today we have an awesome guest. Not just one. Five, because my producers hate me. We did five guests again. I do think this is the last time we're gonna do this for a while. And five great guests, all good friends. The broken lizard guys, the comedy troop that has brought you super troopers. Super Troopers 3 is in theaters this Friday. And so we will get to that in a little bit with them. Very funny. But we've got a bunch of other stuff to talk about with the casualties up top here. That's Isabella, our sports newbie.
Isabella
That's me.
Katie Nolan
That's her. We got Chris, our master editor.
Chris
What's up?
Isabella
Like.
Katie Nolan
Like, this is, like, on. Out of key. You're out of key. I don't think I need her. That was me trying to do the. The Big Wheel from Price is Right.
Brady
Big money.
Katie Nolan
No. Price is Righty.
Brady
The only one who grew a mustache for this episode.
Dan Soder
Damn.
Katie Nolan
Just for this. Pretty cool. Pretty cool. Yeah. They all had mustaches except for one. Interesting Casuals with Katie. No. Yeah, no, I do. I actually just got rid of mine this morning. Thank you. Casualticatenolenmail.com is our email address. 646-801-0043. If you'd like to leave us a voicemail on IG and tick tock, we are at Casualsthepodcast that's where you can yell at us about any number of things that happened in the past week that we're just gonna not. We'll just blow past. Right? We have fun on this show.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
We're just a silly, goofy little show. I think I saw a lot of people get very mad about the Boomer stuff that I was like, did that. This was obviously a bit. But yes is the answer they did. And so we'll just.
Brady
Someone was way too serious about the sentence. Joseph responded by burping into the microphone.
Katie Nolan
No, I just, like, we were just joking, you guys. It's really not Isabella. Who does this girl think she is that she gets to say. I'm like, she doesn't. It's the joke.
Isabella
I. She.
Katie Nolan
Boomer doesn't even. They don't work here. They're not going to run into us in the hallway. Nothing has changed. They still are. Wfan. It just. They airs on. It was a joke. Whatever. Two hosts have now responded to us on that channel. I don't know how to find wfan, so I don't know what any of it was, but I've heard it's crazy, so I bet. Love to all. I'm not sure what happened here, but we're a funny show for people that barely know sport. I don't. Okay. All we did was play old clips of what you said. I didn't even if you didn't like
Brady
it, you should have said it.
Katie Nolan
I don't know. Whatever. Today on the podcast. I mean, really. You're seeing a woman at the end of a rope today, folks. I just. It's this Aaron Rodgers. This is the last thing I want to talk about, but we do have to talk about it because Aaron Rodgers went on Pat McAfee and did I convince myself that he had grown and changed in the last year based on nothing? Because he showed that I was way wrong based on the fact that he
Chris
wasn't in front of the crowd.
Katie Nolan
Is that all it was?
Chris
And you're like, you know what?
Katie Nolan
He got quiet and I got hopeful.
Chris
This is nice.
Katie Nolan
And then instead he's. He's back like the Elon Musk. Musk rocket that is crashing into the moon. Aaron Rodgers crash landed right back on Pat McAfee. So we will begrudgingly discuss that. We're also going to talk about that new Cleveland WNBA franchise getting a name they named the team. We'll get to that a little bit later in the show. Want to know everybody's thoughts? There's a sad rule change in the NHL that we say goodbye to. And like I said, the guys from Super Troopers are going to join us. They tell a very funny story about their softball team in California when they used to play against Michael Bay's softball team. I jaw on the floor for that. Let's start with. I think I've already teased this, but in case I haven't, next week we're going to do our big trade deadline extravaganza reset of like here's where everybody went by. Then we'll also know, like here's how their first few games at their new team have gone. Like Derek School lost for the Dodgers. But we'll get to all of the trade deadline resetting to set you up to succeed as a baseball fan for the rest of the season. On Tuesday's episode next week we have Kate Maniscalco, who you may know from Baseball for Baddies. No relation to Sebastian, right? Have we double checked Sebastian Maniscalco, famous stand up comedian who you may know.
Brady
You know, I haven't asked.
Katie Nolan
I think we should ask, probably should ask. Why would you do that? That's my impression of Dan's impression of Sebastian Maniscalco. Thank you very much. She does baseball for baddies. You've seen her. She's everywhere right now. We're going to do the trade deadline stuff with her. But there was one story in baseball that we felt and by we I mostly mean Brady, but I do think this will be worth diving into. We felt we could not ignore and had to discuss. And it's a real mad lib of a headline. But Pete Crowe Armstrong from the Cubs. Isabella, you got any memory of discussions we've had of pca?
Isabella
Wasn't he the one that said like suck my dick, bitch or something like that?
Katie Nolan
Yes, he was. To that lady in the outfield. He told her.
Brady
And that's what happens when you're a leading MVP candidate. That's what people remember you for first.
Katie Nolan
Which is crazy because Cookie Monster went on the broadcast and said that PCA was his favorite player. And I go, did nobody tell Cookie Monster what PCA said to that lady or his Cookie Monster kind of misogynistic things to look into in 2026. Again, these are jokes. Now I feel like I got to do that. Now I feel like I got to do that.
Chris
Cookie Monster's coming for you.
Katie Nolan
He always is. He eats all the cookies. Share them. Anyway, here's your mad lib. PCA went on Kristen Cavallari's podcast, which is called let's be Honest. And he was asked to share an unpopular opinion that he has. And let's just let him tell it. This is gonna be crazy. Babe Ruth never existed is one that I love.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Really?
Brady
He never existed.
Katie Nolan
I heard some picture with the Mariners. Salcedo.
Paul Soter
You remember him?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Salcedo, yeah. Lefty.
Katie Nolan
I think he did some podcast on. On Zoom when he was, like, going down the rabbit hole with somebody about how Babe Ruth never existed. I was like, dude, that's awesome.
Isabella
Wow.
Katie Nolan
So you're gonna double down right now? No, it's like, we always talk about how, like, the game's evolving and people might as well have been, like, underhanding the ball to that guy, and he's regarded still as one of the best players ever, and you might as well dive further into it and be like, well, maybe he just never existed.
Dan Soder
I love it.
Katie Nolan
I love it.
Eric Stolhanski
That's crazy.
Katie Nolan
That's a good one. A moon landing picture. Like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
Are those pictures real?
Dan Soder
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
The moon landing.
Brady
I don't really.
Katie Nolan
That was such a journey.
Isabella
We got there.
Katie Nolan
Where did we go? Where did we land? I.
Isabella
Not on the moon.
Brady
Moon landing.
Katie Nolan
Never thought I'd hear Kristin Cavallari half share her opinions on whether or not we landed on the moon. Is everybody okay?
Isabella
Gotta stop asking people for their unpopular opinion.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I learned things. I feel like I'm blaming the X Files question everything, and it's like, maybe some things we could just leave alone whether or not Babe Ruth existed. Brady, you're kind of our baseball expert on the show. I hesitate to label you as any type of expert, because then you usually get something wrong on purpose to prove that you can't be depended upon to bring all the facts. But you must have dove in on what the. Or what are they talking about with Saucedo there.
Brady
It's as simple as that. It's that there is a small section of people that you find something crazy, you run with it. They believe that Babe Ruth simply did not exist, that he did things that, you know, was such an outlandish character that it just didn't happen.
Katie Nolan
This is like what they're doing with Helen Keller right now, too. They do this. You know, the young kids are doing this with Helen.
Isabella
She's not real Keller.
Katie Nolan
They say that's possible.
Brady
We have video footage.
Katie Nolan
They say that's impossible. So it was definitely taught to us to try to inspire us, but there's no way it's real. And you go, what do you. Are you guys all all right? We can't do Pixar. It didn't happen for history. This is. Who was it that said that they don't believe in history?
Chris
That happened.
Isabella
What?
Katie Nolan
Can everybody read a book?
Isabella
And before like 1950s, didn't he say that?
Chris
Yes. Whoa, you believe books? Katie, come on.
Katie Nolan
And so. Okay, Brady, I guess my question is, is there any real. I thought I've. I've heard a different, I think conspiracy theory about Babe Ruth.
Brady
That Babe Ruth is black?
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Brady
That one has way more legs, right? That one's like disputable. Probably, probably not true.
Katie Nolan
But it has some fun little elegant elements to it. But Babe Ruth was it really.
Brady
I have been in the house he grew up in. He exists and he was a real person.
Katie Nolan
The way that PCA not only suggested he didn't exist, but said like he basically got tossed underhand too. So he like completely diminished if he was real. He went like he played when everybody sucked. So he's really not that great. It makes me think like does he have beef specifically with Babe Ruth or something? I don't.
Isabella
What's the team that Babe Ruth played on?
Katie Nolan
Well, Isabella, let's not.
Isabella
Oh, Red Sox. I see.
Katie Nolan
Well.
Isabella
Oh, well, it's Yankees.
Katie Nolan
Isabella learns in real time about the curse of the Bambino is so funny when she goes. Oh, the Red Sox. Well, wait, the Yankees.
Chris
What happened here?
Katie Nolan
This sounds like something I'd be interested in.
Brady
Why would they trade him?
Katie Nolan
And for what? That's the return they got. Wait a second.
Chris
35 year old lefty.
Brady
Okay. A rod.
Katie Nolan
This is beautiful. This is actually stunning and gorgeous and I. If we had time for it, boy would we dwell years.
Isabella
The curse of the Bambino according to AI Overview was a famous sports superstition explaining the Boston's Red Sox 86 year World Series championship drought from 1918 to 2004. It began after Boston owner Harry Frazee sold star player Barry Babe Ruth nicknamed the band. Oh, that was his nickname?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
To the rival New York Yankees in 1919. So is he most known for Red Sox or Yankees?
Katie Nolan
Well, he's kind of most known Yankees. Right. But he's most for me was my whole childhood was most known for this for being the reason why we couldn't win ever is because we had Babe Ruth and we traded him away and we were cursed and the Yankees were not. The Yankees wonder if it's not a curse.
Isabella
Maybe you guys were just kind of ass for that one.
Katie Nolan
You guys ever consider you just were kind of cheap Follow through.
Isabella
I just don't.
Katie Nolan
Maybe we don't blame poor Babe. You know what I mean?
Chris
I Just this guy might not have even existed. And you're blaming him.
Katie Nolan
That's a really good.
Brady
There is video footage of him existing. There are millions and millions of pages. There are statistics, there are box scores. There are newspaper accounts from those days of Babe Ruth playing baseball in Baltimore, in Boston, in New York and back in Boston again. There are places he grew up.
Isabella
Maybe AI has been around for a lot longer than we thought. Jesus.
Brady
My God, Pete.
Katie Nolan
I'd actually rather continue talking about this than use it to pivot to the thing we have to pivot to. But speaking of conspiracy theories and airing them out with no sort of sense of responsibility, Aaron Rodgers returned to the. I know this is a typo, but the P.E.I. mcAfee show is very funny, and it does raise the question. The last time Aaron Rodgers was regularly appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, a story came out that he was being paid quite a bit of money to do that. Do we know if he got paid to do this one or. That's underreported. We're not sure.
Brady
Not gonna know if he got paid to do this because they were at the Pat McAfee show, was at Steelers practice, so he had lots of Steelers on. So there's a chance they may not have, you know, not paying everybody. They're just there and talking to everybody they have.
Katie Nolan
During the interview, Rogers criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci. I believe he actually even. Are we playing clips or.
Brady
No, no, we chose not to hear his voice.
Katie Nolan
I believe I heard him say something like, ESPN hasn't talked about this at all. Which is like. Yeah, because it doesn't really have anything to do with anything. That's why it probably hasn't come up. I have to say up top that I have not been also following the. I don't. I don't f. I. The COVID I don't understand when people. I hate talking about COVID publicly because it's like everybody has their firmly held belief about certain things, and they get very like, have you not been following the. And I go, no. Covid changed us fundamentally as people. And I'm still kind of reckoning with that. I'm still kind of sitting with what we learned about ourselves as a Society in 2020. I don't think it was a lot of good stuff that we learned. And I think a lot of people are hung up on, like, where it came from and why and who and what. And then you also go like. But you also are the same people who didn't think it was anything in the first place. So I'm. I don't like talking about COVID because, like, lots of people died and it was really scary. Everything stopped and nothing really fully ever recovered. And it made me feel like I learned we didn't have a lot of empathy for each other as humans. I feel less in community with humans as I did blindly before 2020. So I don't know, but I just feel like I need to disclose that so we don't get in the weeds on, like, why would we be talking about Dr. Fauci on ESPN? Why would that have ever come up? Right, so there.
Brady
So there was a trove of documents that were turned up from Fauci's, like, personal diary that RFK Jr. Declared was. Or I don't know if it's his declaration, but declared that they were government documents because they were written by a government official on a government computer. They became a matter of personal public record. And Rand Paul brought Anthony Fauci before a Senate committee, Republican led Senate committee last week. Last week, July 29, to answer questions about the. Where his personal diary comments did not match his public statements at the time. And during this, his opening statement basically said, like, you guys are just trying to catch me in a lie. You're trying to catch me where things don't match for the sake of perjury, and I'm just going to plead the fifth 111 times. And he did, and that was the end of that.
Katie Nolan
Which is, look, I don't even wanna talk about any of this. It's like the Fifth exists to be pled. It's. There's reasons and there's not. I don't care or no. All I know is that when I met Dr. Fauci with my public consciousness, I was like, this guy's got hell of a track record. He's done a lot of work and he's. He's worked really hard. And this is. He's done a lot for aids. He's done a lot for. I don't remember, because I don't need to know any of this. It's just like, I. I think the reason Aaron Rodgers brought it up was like, you guys talked a lot about me and my vaccination status, but no one's talking about this FAU trial. And it's like, yeah, Aaron Rogers, because you're an NFL quarterback and everybody was supposed to get vaccinated and you purposely didn't want to say so you sort of danced around, you lied. You were like, I'm. I'm immunized. Which was like your way of saying that you're immune to it, but you wouldn't really confirm if you were vaccinated. We were worried about people dying. We were trying to contain a disease that was more contagious than we were used to experiencing on this level. It was not just in America. It was all over the world. People were dying at an alarming rate. We were trying to understand it while also trying to contain it at the same time. Mistakes were bound to be made. Okay, I'm not saying anything was handled perfectly. It was a nightmare in a mess. But why ESPN was talking about it was you, Aaron Rodgers. It was because of you. Because you weren't being forthright about something that we felt was kind of important to know, and you're allowed to have your opinions on it. That doesn't mean we have to now talk about the Dr. Fauci trial. That doesn't make sense. Yeah, I just, you know, am tired. I hope that whoever's in charge figures everything out and everything's good and everybody's happy. This is a mess and a nightmare. And I hope Aaron Rodgers plays for 10 more years so that he doesn't start the podcast. He'll eventually start where this is every. I just don't have the. This is. I miss a world where you could go like. And we don't want to get into that. It's. It is what it is.
Brady
So you think a podcast is the worst thing that could happen when Aaron Rodgers retires, You forget that he almost ran for vice president.
Katie Nolan
I had completely forgotten he was going to be RFK's running mate.
Brady
Yes. I would take it if he were just a podcaster after he retired.
Kevin Heffernan
It.
Katie Nolan
It's. You know what, the guy's got his opinions, and people keep asking them for them. Personally, I don't find them that interesting or intriguing.
Isabella
I'm curious to know if you're like a. Like. Like when you're a fan of a team and you don't like your quarterback. Like, what is that?
Katie Nolan
Like, who on Here Comes.
Isabella
Have you guys ever experienced that?
Katie Nolan
Where it was like, Tom Brady waited for the most part and was so good that there was no chance I was gonna take the other side? I had to.
Isabella
What is it like when you're a fan of a team and you don't like a lot of the players?
Katie Nolan
Well, Steve, one of our producers, Steve was a Jets fan, and I, when Aaron Rodgers was his quarterback, he did not like him. So if we had Steve on camera, he could answer for this. Brady, have you ever disliked really Bad
Brady
quarterbacks in Commander's history. But I. I don't know if any of them have been, you know, just
Katie Nolan
thinking through like, hey, Stefan Diggs, by the way, did you see that new Stefan Diggs to the Commanders today.
Brady
Number two wide receiver. The Terp coming home, huh?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Brady
Is that where he's a DC guy?
Katie Nolan
Wow, look at that. A return. I thought I said everything else. Four year deal, but it's fake NFL money.
Isabella
Commanders and a Baltimore Orioles fan.
Brady
I am a fan of the teams that played here when I was kid and have stuck with him. So when I was a kid, they're the Ravens played in Cleveland. They moved from Cleveland to become the Ravens and then the Nationals were in Montreal and they moved from Montreal as the Expos to become the Nationals. So those were my local teams. Was Washington and Baltimore one of each sport?
Katie Nolan
Isabella thought she just fell out of a coconut tree.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
You are the product of all that
Isabella
came before you and everything that before
Katie Nolan
you didn't even know. The Nationals were never there. They were up in Montreal. So anyway, that's Aaron Rodgers going on Pat McAfee. I don't know what everybody wants from me. If you're into this for your talk, that's great. Good for you. You had a great day the other day. I don't think we should be litigating public health on the. We wanted to know if you were vaccinated because you were going to put other people at risk. We wanted to move on with sports. We all missed sports and needed the distraction and it was hard to do. So if we couldn't trust that everybody was going to get vaccinated so that we wouldn't kill a bunch of NFL players. It was like a. But whatever. This is just going to continue the mess in the comments of anything that I make that I have not been able to look at for a couple days. So I don't know how to touch this and go, this sucks. I don't want to have to become an expert in national health and security in order to discuss that. This is stupid and not something we should be discussing on sports tv, but it is what it is. Hey, anyway, while we're doing stuff, I'm gonna get yelled at for. Have you guys seen that? Now the right has turned on Caitlin Clark because Caitlin Clark will not pick up the mantle that Sophie Cunningham has brought into Sophie Cunningham, who we. Regardless of your opinion on her, you could say her main role on that team is to basically protect or enforce on behalf of Caitlin Clark and what she did instead, here is the literal opposite and has brought into. Invited into the locker room, the vampire. This topic that a certain side seems really interested in pushing as their number one. It's. We all really want to talk about it. And then Caitlin Clark says, I don't want to talk about it. And now she's being called a coward. So that's fun. That's fun.
Isabella
At least. Not Colin Coward.
Katie Nolan
That's our girl. That is our sports newbie, knowing how to bring it right back to sports. You know who sticks to sports on this show? Isabella. She sticks to sports. So good.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yep.
Isabella
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
Hey, speaking of the NFL, it is worth mentioning it's back because Hard Knocks is back this week. For anyone who doesn't know HBO and NFL Films, it's always been hbo, right? Brady. Anyway, NFL Films, they. They partner and they release this show. It's called Hard Knocks. Now, it's gotten a little bastardized in recent years because teams, they're having a hard time getting teams to sign up and want to do it. But the point of Hard Knocks is that they're embedded with you. A camera crew, a docum crew is embedded with a team for training camp. And so you get to sort of watch through the rounds of cuts where they'll, like, have a bunch of people on the team. Isabella. And they'll start to go like, okay, who are our wide receivers? Who are our, you know, what's our O line look like? And who gets cut? So there's multiple rounds of cuts, and you get to sort of watch those. They'll record during the week and then edit it down and release the episode at the end of the week. So it's like kind of like a live almost documentary of what's going on at training camp. It's been a little bastardized in recent years. They started to do in season Hard Knocks, and then they also, I think, did one division got a Hard Knocks in season. So it's.
Brady
It's.
Katie Nolan
It's sort of expanded itself to become more nebulous. But the original Hard Knocks is how you knew it was football season because it was like, oh, an episode of Hard Knocks is out. That means we are. It's go time. And this year, it's the Seahawks. I haven't gotten to watch it yet, but it's the Seahawks on Hard Knocks. And usually I don't feel like they get embedded with, like, a Super bowl champion. Usually it's a team that, like, they. They used to. Isabella. A couple years ago, probably 10 now, they had to release a set of, like, rules that if these didn't apply to you, you had to be on Hard. Hard Knock. You couldn't turn it down where it was like, if you have a brand new coach, okay, you can turn it down. If you're. If you've this or that, you can turn it down. But I feel like usually it wasn't the teams that were like, doing awesome that would end up being on Hard Knocks. Am I wrong on that?
Brady
No, I think it was. This is the first time since the first one, since the first Hard Knocks with Baltimore, this is the first time they've had the super bowl champion.
Katie Nolan
Pretty cool.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Not cool because of obviously who they beat in that super bowl, but whatever. So that's back. And that could be something fun you could watch to kind of get into football. Isabelle. They do a really good job of like, highlighting characters. It is kind of a bummer when, like, you meet like an O lineman you never would have known about and then he gets cut and you're like, oh, I liked him. I thought he was kind of goofy. And he really liked that trip they took to the planetarium and now he's not around anymore.
Brady
But it's really subversive because they'll do it in real time. So, like, you meet these characters, they don't know the end result. As you're meeting these guys, you're like, they'll follow this, like, third string tight end. You know, I'm really into him. You're like, oh, man, they're talking this guy up. He must have the real, like, success story. And then like week five. Nope.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Cut.
Brady
Bye. Never hear from him again.
Katie Nolan
It's can be a real emotional roller coaster, but it's like reality TV and sports. So it's like a kind of interesting. So something I wanted to put on your radar. And then another thing. The hall of Fame game is tonight. The NFL hall of Fame game is tonight.
Isabella
What is that?
Katie Nolan
It's so. It is the. It's how they kick off the preseason. Is the first preseason game. So it doesn't really like, mean anything, but it means everything.
Isabella
It's like a little ceremony.
Katie Nolan
It's like they do the. They do the. They do it at the hall of Fame. They still do, right? Because I remember one year there was like a real field issue that was coming down to the wire. But they do. They didn't like, move to a different. They still do it in Canton.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So they do it at the hall of Fame. And then don't they also announce the inductees and all that?
Brady
They don't announce. They do the actual induction ceremony. I think that is Saturday, but it coincides with, like, the same, like, weekend of festival.
Katie Nolan
They honor them before the game, like, just to remind people of who's getting into the hall of Fame this year. So that is tonight. And it's crazy because it sneaks up on you every year. You go like, oh, the. So we're in the preseason now, which is good. And another thing we should warn you, Isabella, this is when you start to get the most annoying injury news. This is where you go like, oh, we lost a guy that was supposed to have a great season this year due to a game that meant nothing. We lost him because he got hurt in a preseason game. So just something to keep in mind to hopefully, let's. Prayers up. Hopefully nobody gets hurt in the preseason this year. Okay, can every. I don't see anyone else making prayer hands except me. Thank you, Chris, Brady and Isabella, thank you very much. So prayers up to no injuries for the preseason, but just something to keep an eye on. You never know. And then sort of kind of related to injuries, but not. Did you see that the NHL has gotten rid of the E bug? The emergency. I know this is a real bummer. The emergency backup goalie. So traditionally. Oh, this is just what the new rule is. What was the actual rule before?
Brady
I don't know the letter of the law for the actual rule, but you used to. So every NHL team would carry two goalies. You got your goalie. You got your backup goalie. Goalie is really hard. So, like, you train at one thing.
Isabella
That's just two per team.
Brady
Yeah, but that's like, there's only so many goalies. And, like, also, you can't have a guy who plays defense come in and play goal. And it also takes, like, an hour and a half to put on the pads anyway. So, like, you got to have goalies ready to go. If both of those goalies got hurt, teams would always designate someone in the arena somewhere, and this would rarely ever happen. But just like Greg who drives the Zamboni or, like, is our E bug. Like Dave from marketing who played in high school.
Isabella
I could be.
Katie Nolan
You could have been an E. Not anymore, though. Is the sad. The sad thing is we're telling this to Isabella for the first time just to let her know that it's no longer the case. It's. I didn't think that through. I thought maybe telling her. I was like, oh, the whimsy of telling her that a guy who drives a Zamboni could go and never become yes. So in 2016.
Isabella
So weird.
Katie Nolan
In 2016, Jorge Alves, a 37 year old head equipment manager for the Carolina Hurricanes, played the final 7.6 seconds of a game against the Tampa bay lightning on March 29, 2018. Scott Foster, a 36 year old accountant, an amateur rec league player, stopped all seven shots he faced in 14 minutes of NHL action for the Chicago Blackhawks to preserve a 62 victory against the Winnipeg Jets.
Isabella
That's cool.
Katie Nolan
On February 22, 2020, David Ayers entered the game for the Carolina Hurricanes after both of their goaltenders got injured during a game against against the Leafs. He had a Maple Leafs T shirt on under his equipment, entered the game with 8 minutes and 41 seconds left in the second period. So there was still 8 minutes and 41 seconds in that period and then a whole other period and he had a 31 lead. He allowed goals on the first two shots that he faced before stopping the next eight shots on goal, along with recording one shot on goal to help seal a 63 win for Carolina. So it has happened and it's amazing. Every single time. But now, under changes tied to the CBA collective bargaining agreement, every NHL team will instead carry a contracted full time contracted or contracted contract.
Brady
You can you contract a disease. You contract a player full time third
Katie Nolan
goaltender who travels and practices with the club for both home and road games because we can't have anything fun anymore.
Chris
What happens if he gets injured?
Katie Nolan
Ooh, then Isabella is everyone. It's the entire league's go to Ebug. She's universal ebug for the NHL. Always on call.
Isabella
As long as it's not during recording times of casual the podcast. I can do it perfect.
Katie Nolan
I love that we are her only commitment.
Brady
This feels like we may be able to make it happen for minor league hockey.
Katie Nolan
You know, genuinely.
Brady
Hey, Hershey Bears, can Isabella be your E bug for a night?
Katie Nolan
Hershey Bears. Yum.
Isabella
That sounds really tasty.
Katie Nolan
I know. Tasty and adorable. You know, I used to have an
Chris
Australian on that Rusta. So I like the Horseshoe.
Katie Nolan
How did you just know? Do you just know everywhere there's an Australian?
Chris
Pretty much.
Katie Nolan
Interesting. Really.
Brady
Chris walks into a movie theater and he's like, there's an Australian in here.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, it's Nicole Kidman. She comes out and does the whole intro at the beginning. All right. So that feels like everything. There were two things I yelled at you before we started that I wanted to find a place to put. Did we do it it maybe they're coming up later.
Brady
They are Coming up later.
Katie Nolan
Coming up later. Okay, so then let's just go to the Super Troopers guys. Now, let me say Super Troopers means a lot to me. All right, Super Troopers. If you haven't seen it, cult classic came out 2001. I was in high school. This is. I've seen this movie. This might be the movie I've seen the most. I don't want to admit that maybe the movie I've seen the most, if there's. If it's tied with one and you know it's got to be true because it's not.
Isabella
Not.
Katie Nolan
Not, like proud of it is love. Actually, I saw that movie a lot of times, so I hyper fixated on it, maybe in high school, so. But Super Troopers I've seen, like, more than any other movie. It's like an old blanket, you know, it's like a comfort watch at this point. Isabella has never seen Super Troopers, which I try not to be that person that goes like you've never seen, because everybody comes from their own, but you've never seen Super Troopers.
Isabella
Okay. So this morning, I don't know, with my morning coffee, I decided, let me turn on Super Troopers. Yes. While I have my coffee.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
I watched the opening sequence, and that's it. What do you mean, stressed me out?
Katie Nolan
I was watching this and I was
Isabella
like, I don't know why my brain is not conceptualizing that this is a comedy, because it's really, like, stressing me out that these guys that he just. He just ate a bunch of weed
Katie Nolan
and shrooms and he's getting pulled over. And then I'm like, wait, why did the.
Isabella
The cops disappear?
Katie Nolan
And now they're back, and then they just show up behind the car.
Isabella
And then the guys are over.
Katie Nolan
I can't pull over any further.
Isabella
And then the guy, like, one of the hot cops is the.
Katie Nolan
With the wig is like, we're going to Mexico. And I was like, mexico?
Isabella
And once that happened and he's spitting
Katie Nolan
the car, I was like, guys, I
Isabella
don't think this is for me.
Katie Nolan
It is. I promise it is.
Brady
Freaking out.
Katie Nolan
I promise it is. You are freaking out, man. The snozberries taste like snozberries.
Chris
That's my. That's my go to.
Katie Nolan
That is so funny. It's so funny. They also reveal in this interview something about that scene, which is that it was not the plan and that they sort of rolled with it. And then that line was so funny that they let me let them tell it and set them up instead. I'll just tell you everything. They Said. And then we'll throw to the clip.
Brady
So it's in this moment that I'm just now finding out that the Snozberries guy is no longer married to Christina Hendricks, and that just bums me out.
Paul Soter
Wait.
Brady
Yeah. Backseat Snozberries. Tastes like Snozberries. Guy was married to Christina Hendricks for 10 years.
Katie Nolan
What the are you talking about?
Kevin Heffernan
Really?
Brady
Yeah.
Isabella
Who is he?
Katie Nolan
Why? Do you know him enough? From what?
Isabella
From 500 Days of Summer.
Kevin Heffernan
Oh,
Isabella
he's like the best friend of. Of Tom. I think that's.
Brady
He's a. That guy actor. He's like, oh, it's that guy.
Katie Nolan
Oh, I must have just. I'm not picturing his face. Face properly.
Brady
And if I can make one assumption about him, I'm assuming it's correct, because he was married to Christina Hendricks.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, he's probably a boob guy. Is that what you were gonna say?
Paul Soter
I don't.
Katie Nolan
He seems maybe like a boob guy, unlike Mike Lombardi, who we know is a butt guy. By the way, I went to Mike Lombardi's bookmarks. Or no, it was Reposts. That's what it was on his Instagram is that he was reposting that lady's fat ass on Instagram, but he also was reposting a lot of clips from Two and a Half Men. Yeah, they're all like.
Isabella
I noticed that as well.
Katie Nolan
Borderline incel. Two and a Half Men clips where you go like, what is this? What is it with deep fried television show or movie clips being the first thing the algorithm tries to send you to if you let it keep taking you. You know when sometimes an algorithm will whisk you away. You're watching a video, and it already attacks. Twitter does this. It plays the next video, but the next video on other websites is more closely related to what you just watched on Twitter. It's like, this gets people talking. It's the next possible thing you could see. And it's always like a clip from a movie. No context, a weird line through it, and you're just like, what the fuck am I watching? Anyway, what I was doing was introducing our guests. We're gonna take a break. On the other side of the break, I will be joined by all five members of Broken Lizard, a comedy troupe who. It's crazy to think how long these guys have been making comedies and laughing together. They started in college. They went to Colgate, right?
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And now they're still doing it. It's Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemmy, Paul. Soder we really focus on that a lot. Does that make it in or did we cut out all the Soder with a T. Dan Soder with a D.
Brady
I think we cut out about the first 14 minutes of the two.
Katie Nolan
We really went deep on it. It was fast. Cause he's. His name is Paul Soder and he's married to a Katie. And so she is Katie Soder. And so we have. And then also Eric Stolhanski. Sorry, he's just the last name that I was gonna say. And then I got distracted by the Soder. Let's go to a break. And on the other side, the entire cast, most of the cast. The main cast of Super Troopers 3, which is in theaters this Friday, August 7th, on Casuals.
Isabella
We'll be right back.
Katie Nolan

Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Thank you for remembering because I. Do you remember what we talked about? Because I don't.
Paul Soter
Sports.
Steve Lemme
A lot of stuff.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And we will get back into the sports today. I just wanted to make sure I don't do any things I did with you. Then again now, because I love Super Troopers so much and I feel like I might have come up with the same ideas that I came up with.
Steve Lemme
We had lots of tangents. We went off on lots of. We riffed a lot.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And that's what podcasts are for. So I do think that's allowed and fair. But just for our audio listeners to know each of your names, I'm gonna go around the room and start with a question for each of you. Jay, I'm starting with you because you directed this. You are the. In my head, you're like the dad of the group. Like you're in charge.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
The deadbeat dad, though, that kind of, you know, shows up once every five years, gives you a birthday card with
Jay Chandrasekhar
$10 stuffed teddy bear. But now you're 16, and you're like, what am I gonna do with this?
Chris
This guy?
Eric Stolhanski
Never met him before. Sorry. We're going to derail every.
Katie Nolan
That's what we want. Hard to believe it's been 25 years since the first Super Troopers movie. What do you think it is about that movie that resonates with audiences so much?
Jay Chandrasekhar
I think that the reality of our group is that we're. We're close friends who've known each other since we were 18, and so we have tons of inside jokes, and we operate on basically an insult culture. And I think. I think we put that into the movies, that vibe. And I think audiences say, oh, that's kind of like our. Our friend group, too. And I think they sort of see us as similar to their own group.
Steve Lemme
Good answer, dad. What I've kind of realized is, like, the insult culture. We do come from insult culture, but I think our dad leads it with each. With each vodka soda he has, he starts. He insults us. Us more and more.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, yeah. You're a mean dad.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, well, only when I drink vodka, which is every day. Okay, but. Okay.
Katie Nolan
Kevin, I feel like Farva is one of the most iconic characters for people of my age group. I'm curious to know how much you. How much he resonates with you as a person. Hopefully not too much, but also what it is you think about Farva that is so funny.
Kevin Heffernan
Well, I mean, he's definitely the guy you love to hate. And, you know, it depends who you ask. Like, I think there's not much of me in Farva, but if you ask these guys, they will tell you that they think it's very. There's a lot of it, but I don't know. I think also he's the kind of guy. He's a great character to play. He's the kind of guy who just says whatever he wants. So he's kind of. He's gotten more insane over the time. Whatever. And I think that was the genesis for the idea for this movie, was like, oh, what if that guy was marrying your sister? Like, how. What would happen? You know? And so it became kind of fun to be able to use what everyone loves about that character in a whole new scenario in this movie.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah. And he's marrying my sister in this movie, and I'm trying to stop the wedding. And so the movie's. It's basically meet the parents, meet Super Troopers. That's the big picture.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
I also think, you know, we were just like, we were just at WWE SummerSlam this past weekend, you know, both
Kevin Heffernan
days, which Dan was really excited about.
Katie Nolan
I was gonna say we will. We were gonna get to that in the sports section. But if you have. What were you gonna say?
Steve Lemme
No, I'm gonna come, I'm gonna. Is that like the. As we were walking around, like the amount of people that are screaming for Farva, you actually realize that Farva is very like, much. He's American.
Kevin Heffernan
He's a wrestling character.
Steve Lemme
Americana.
Eric Stolhanski
You really are a wrestling heel. Yeah, yeah. Like, yeah. We would get pushed aside for people to take pictures with Farva.
Paul Soter
They would ask to take the picture
Katie Nolan
of far brutal, nothing worse. And they go, hey, excuse me. And you go, you want a picture of that?
Kevin Heffernan
You take.
Katie Nolan
You take the picture.
Eric Stolhanski
Not to belabor the point, but like the first test screening we did for the first movie, you know, they have the audience, like, rate the different characters. Well, who do you like? Who didn't you like? And everybody hated Farva. And he tested at the lowest score of any character. But it's just funny because, yeah, like, at first people were repelled by this fellow. And it's come all the way around to like. I'm like, are we gonna have to make just a Farva movie at this point? Do we need to just start leaning into, like. We're all. It's as far as universe and we all live in it.
Paul Soter
He's the Archie Bunker. Archie Bunker effect.
Katie Nolan
Eric, you are no longer the rookie, obviously. How is that adjustment for you in this in. In Super Troopers 3?
Kevin Heffernan
Very hard.
Isabella
Yeah.
Paul Soter
I like getting abused.
Isabella
Yeah.
Paul Soter
I discover that I. I like the masochistic sense of being abused. And I didn't, you know, this new guy gets it and I get very jealous of him.
Katie Nolan
I was gonna comment on your mustache, but I notice you're the only one who does it still. You've got nothing.
Paul Soter
I had a great four month mustache going and then I had to do a reshoot in a film and I had to shave it a couple days ago. And I'm like, I only have a couple days to grow up out before the opening of the movie.
Kevin Heffernan
But now you're like the guy. Which one doesn't belong?
Paul Soter
That's right. I don't belong. I'm back to rookie again. Yeah, kinda. I was enjoying seeing how far I could take it.
Katie Nolan
Meaning?
Paul Soter
Well, I mean, it was beefy.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It was.
Paul Soter
It was a nice juicy mustache. That was gross. I wanted to get Like a Western John Bolton.
Steve Lemme
Juicy, beefy.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah.
Paul Soter
A living creature in your face. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
It feels like I would just have food stuck in it all the time.
Eric Stolhanski
Oh, we. There was. The other night, Steve had a chunk of clam chowder in his mustache for, like, 40 minutes. And, you know, obviously, you. None of us are gonna say anything. So it became this sort of like, how long does the chowder stay in the mustache?
Steve Lemme
But I was aware of it, and it's like, you can't. If you fight it, it's just not. It's not worth. It's a losing battle because, you know, after each bite of clam chowder, you're gonna clean your mustache and then just get it all dirty again. And, like, there was a Boston cream pie incident. And then the problem. The problem is even if, like, I'll go into the bathroom and I'll. I'll soap and water it or, like,
Katie Nolan
soap and water your mustache.
Kevin Heffernan
Okay.
Steve Lemme
Is this.
Jay Chandrasekhar
No.
Katie Nolan
I just didn't know. I've never been a part of mustache care.
Steve Lemme
You know what else I do?
Katie Nolan
What?
Steve Lemme
I'll toothpaste and toothbrush it.
Kevin Heffernan
Okay.
Jay Chandrasekhar
To make a special toothbrush, or is it your same toothbrush?
Steve Lemme
My same toothbrush. No, no, no.
Katie Nolan
You get hairs in the toothbrush.
Steve Lemme
No, no, but that. You can. You can clean all this stuff.
Kevin Heffernan
Oh, yeah, sure.
Steve Lemme
You know, Katie, I'm about to walk.
Eric Stolhanski
I'm about to walk station.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Walking up the door.
Katie Nolan
It's open water.
Steve Lemme
I'm about to fly out of here with my mustache.
Katie Nolan
Wings is nasty. Steve, while we're talking, talk to me about Brian Cox. Getting Brian Cox to come back and do this, a lovely man, and having to speak to him the way that you do In Super Troopers 3, is that tough now, given the, like, I don't know. I feel like Brian Cox became this through succession was like, whoa, Brian Cox.
Steve Lemme
Yeah. You know, he's very much a father figure for the Super Troopers. And. And, you know, he and I in the first movie established a little relationship where I was his, you know, like, favorite or least favorite son. And that certainly has continued into this. I mean, I think on a personal level, you know, the fact that he's been Logan Roy for the last seven years made, you know, brought a little bit more weight and terror to what it was going to be like to see him coming in the door this time. But it's actually the same every single time. Like, he's, you know, he's. I like to say Brian is like a gremlin, you know, like. Like after dark. Like, he gets tired easily. He comes in crusty, then he's good, then he behaves well. Then it starts to get dark and he starts to actually get like, cranky. And he starts to, you know, he continues yelling at us throughout the day. And, you know, that certainly hasn't changed now he's got his tagline, which is fuck off. And so if you know he's gonna tell you to off, it's not as scary. And so, you know.
Dan Soder
Good point.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
It's like expecting it.
Steve Lemme
You are expecting it, you want it. And I would hit him with, you know, ba da ba ba ba, I'm loving it. And he'd tell me to off again. And you know, it's. Being with Brian is like putting on a warm slipper. You know, it's. It's familiar and familial. Oh, yeah, he's a wonderful.
Katie Nolan
I'm so glad you didn't walk and you gave us that answer. That's such a beautiful answer.
Steve Lemme
Now can I walk?
Katie Nolan
Yes. Now please walk. Actually, Please walk.
Steve Lemme
I don't like that joke either.
Katie Nolan
I was hoping. I was. Have you guys ever blind ranked anything? Have you ever heard of a blind ranking, which is I. I give you five things and you assign a number to it without knowing what the other things are going to be. So it's kind of a challenge. Sure, sure.
Kevin Heffernan
Like all three is used up.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I was hoping that you, as a group project could maybe. Because Super Troopers is one of the most quotable movies I think, in movie history. It's why we love it so much. And it came out in 2001, which was high school for me. So it was perfectly timed.
Kevin Heffernan
Right.
Katie Nolan
I was hoping that maybe you guys could blind rank some quotes from the first Super Troopers that I will deliver that I came up with from memory and hopefully I don't butcher them for you. First one. Bear fucker. Do you need assistance?
Paul Soter
A good one.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's a good one.
Eric Stolhanski
I mean, it's also a question for you. Like, it's. The rankability is almost. How. How many times you get shouted that. Out of a passing car? So like, do you. How high is that on your.
Paul Soter
Do you boys like Mexico?
Kevin Heffernan
But you don't say it.
Paul Soter
I don't say it.
Kevin Heffernan
So that's why we should put it five.
Paul Soter
Yeah, yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Because none of us.
Katie Nolan
One of you doesn't say it.
Eric Stolhanski
Oh, that's right.
Paul Soter
Yelled at me.
Kevin Heffernan
Dan faces.
Jay Chandrasekhar
He's.
Katie Nolan
He's swayed.
Steve Lemme
He swayed me.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, that's a good argument.
Eric Stolhanski
He's a lawyer.
Paul Soter
They just yelled at Me?
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Really put that five, Bear fucker.
Kevin Heffernan
Do you need assistance?
Katie Nolan
Do you need assistance?
Kevin Heffernan
It's a great line, but none of us say it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I feel like you should read it the way it was read in the movie and not just say it.
Katie Nolan
Okay, can you just. Okay, so you putting that at five, director.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I say five.
Katie Nolan
It's a good direction. We'll put it at five. I do fear that the criteria you used might hurt some of these other ones.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's okay.
Katie Nolan
Namely our next one. He's already pulled over. He can't pull over any further.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's a good take.
Katie Nolan
I think technically it was farther, not further, so I could take it again.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's a great. That was actually an improvised line because the car that they were in broke. And it was supposed to drive off again. And then we were supposed to pull them over again while still driving, but the car stopped working. So we were like, oh, boy, we gotta figure out what we're gonna do here. And that kid Joey said that line. And we're like, okay, we'll just keep it pulled over.
Katie Nolan
That's crazy. Cause that's like the start of that mov. Yeah, that sets the tone for how ridiculous.
Kevin Heffernan
But I do think it's an iconic thing. And we actually call that line back in three. And we had the same exact debate. Is it further or farther?
Katie Nolan
And I think it's farther.
Kevin Heffernan
I think it's farther. We did it both ways, and then we realized it was farther.
Katie Nolan
I would say, well, we didn't put that in.
Steve Lemme
I can't go 2. I can't go 2 other ways.
Paul Soter
I'll go 3.
Eric Stolhanski
Can we agree on 3 then?
Jay Chandrasekhar
I bet there's better 3.
Paul Soter
Wait, I go 4.
Kevin Heffernan
I'm with Mank.
Steve Lemme
I go 4.
Paul Soter
We didn't go 4.
Kevin Heffernan
4.
Eric Stolhanski
It's fine.
Steve Lemme
It's also said by somebody else. I still think there's three. But I still think there's three.
Brady
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
I tried to not pick the ones that I immediately. That you immediately think of that. Maybe I should have just.
Jay Chandrasekhar
At the end of the day, Katie, you're gonna pick all lines.
Katie Nolan
These are the ones I say the most.
Jay Chandrasekhar
All lines we didn't say. And you're gonna be like, why am I interviewing these guys?
Katie Nolan
Wait, where'd we put that at three?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Four.
Katie Nolan
Four.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Just because we're at five and four.
Katie Nolan
Because you guys.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Just because they didn't know.
Katie Nolan
You guys are talking about shenanigans, right? Oh, I say that one all the time.
Dan Soder
What?
Katie Nolan
What's that restaurant you like? With the goofy on the walls. You guys talk about shenanigans, right? And then when you go shenanigans, right.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, I actually one of the lines that gets screamed at me the most is evil shenanigans, which is also from that scene.
Kevin Heffernan
Clearly shenanigans is a very highly quoted. Like it's shown thrown it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Coincidentally he happened to say it in the movie and now he seems to like it a lot. Where is it? Number one.
Kevin Heffernan
I'll be more modest. I me, I'll put it at two.
Steve Lemme
But now that we're getting into it, it's not one of my lines. So I'm going to go three.
Katie Nolan
That's fine. Really should have thought through who was saying the line. I really should have thought.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, three is about right.
Kevin Heffernan
But it's hard to find better. But okay, we'll see.
Eric Stolhanski
We'll see, see.
Kevin Heffernan
Sure, I'll live with three.
Steve Lemme
Sure.
Katie Nolan
So disappointed by this. Okay, next, I don't want a large Farva, I want a goddamn liter of cola.
Steve Lemme
So that's better than the previous line.
Kevin Heffernan
Also me.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Okay.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
But now again, I should have thought that through.
Kevin Heffernan
God damn.
Steve Lemme
I'm gonna say number two.
Katie Nolan
You guys are just going five, four, three, two. I do feel like this bit has.
Kevin Heffernan
We have anticipation. They're going to get better and better.
Paul Soter
I don't actually think there's going to be.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah, no, I mean my son told me the other day that's his like favorite scene in any movie. And so I rewatched it with him and I am like, that could be my favorite scene in the movie.
Dan Soder
Yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
Because Charlie Finn is so great.
Kevin Heffernan
So good.
Eric Stolhanski
The kid who plays the Burger King.
Katie Nolan
The Burger King, he is so good. I watched, when I watched that scene recently, I was struck by that over
Eric Stolhanski
time you realize with a different performance that that scene is not nearly as great. And so the theme is that everyone
Paul Soter
else is better than us.
Katie Nolan
Everyone's better than us.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I was hoping that would be your
Steve Lemme
takeaway, but there are, you know, like, you want me to punch a size of your face for free? Is an excellent line from that scene. And don't spit in that Cops burger. Said by somebody else.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, yeah, still.
Steve Lemme
But still.
Jay Chandrasekhar
And the off screen guy. Copy. Hold the spit.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, hold the spit.
Steve Lemme
It's for a cop.
Paul Soter
Should we try to guess what the other one is?
Katie Nolan
If you can.
Isabella
Oh yeah.
Katie Nolan
You know what, what do you think the last one's gonna be? What's your fit? What would you have ranked number one?
Steve Lemme
It's probably you boys. Like Mexico. Mexico. That's gonna be my guess.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's probably.
Eric Stolhanski
I think it's probably meow.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I think it's gotta be. It stinks like sex in here.
Katie Nolan
Oh, that's a good one, too.
Steve Lemme
I think it's very evil.
Paul Soter
You are freaking.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Who wants a mustache, right?
Katie Nolan
You are freaking out, man. That's not what it is.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Is that it?
Katie Nolan
Move that gigantic cotton candy. So funny.
Isabella
I know.
Katie Nolan
Again, not you, Jim Edwards.
Kevin Heffernan
Oh, Jim Edwards.
Dan Soder
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Such a funny cotton candy. Because the thing about Super Troopers was the more you watched it, the more the little ones, like, stuck out as, like, this is hilarious. And move that gigantic cotton candy. I say that weekly.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
So that's our friend Jim Edwards, who we went to college with, and he was living, I think, in Connecticut, and the kids were riding around like they would play mailbox baseball in the neighborhood and smash everybody's mailbox with the baseball bat. But they always spared his mailbox because he was in Super Troopers.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Because you need him.
Jay Chandrasekhar
He did a great job.
Katie Nolan
A crucial part.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I think that's the number one quote in Super Troopers. Wow.
Katie Nolan
That's what the blind ranking says. You guys think the number one quote from Super Troopers.
Kevin Heffernan
We can't change them now.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, no, that's the.
Steve Lemme
She backs yourself said by somebody else. Do you even like us? Like, no.
Katie Nolan
I was told all those other characters are going to be. Yeah, I was hoping Lisa Gilroy would be here.
Eric Stolhanski
She is. She is awesome.
Katie Nolan
For guys who hate on Canadians so much, you guys sure did bring a lot of them into the.
Kevin Heffernan
Are you Canadian?
Katie Nolan
Into the cast?
Eric Stolhanski
No, it was a. It was a reparations deal.
Kevin Heffernan
We had to deal with Hannah's Canadian, Lisa's Canadian.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's defensive filmmaking. Right. You're like, hey, these Canadians are in it. They seem to approve it. What can we do?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, they can't be mad. You guys can't hate us. We have your favorites, your national treasures here. Should we talk about sports? Oh, no. You know what I wanted to say first? How do you make a Super Troopers now that weed is leaked legal.
Kevin Heffernan
Oh, true.
Katie Nolan
Harder to do.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
We invent drugs now. We invented a new drug.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, we invented a new drug.
Katie Nolan
All right, Cool. And did you bring any for the class?
Steve Lemme
Well, it's, you know, it's a Canadian drug.
Isabella
Great.
Kevin Heffernan
But you're not Canadian, so.
Katie Nolan
So I can't have any.
Jay Chandrasekhar
No.
Eric Stolhanski
But did we ever really establish, like, what. What. What is the trip when you're on Canadian crystal, we joke that because it's Canadian, it makes you apologetic and boring. Right. But I don't know that we ever necessarily. I mean.
Steve Lemme
Well, actually, you do see the effect.
Eric Stolhanski
Those characters. The dealers are on it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Right?
Eric Stolhanski
So we see the effect it has on.
Steve Lemme
The dealers are on it. And then I'm highly. I'm super street talk, everybody.
Isabella
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
It's like when you know the legend of Jimi Hendrix, when he. They said he'd put the LSD in his headband and, like, it would soak into his brain.
Kevin Heffernan
Never heard.
Katie Nolan
Never heard that either.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, you got that. That's the legend, of course.
Katie Nolan
Jimi Hendrix. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so you smoke Canadian crystal. You snort it.
Isabella
It.
Katie Nolan
Snort it.
Eric Stolhanski
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Crush it up and snort it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, it's a little Breaking Bad. It's a little Breaking Bad.
Eric Stolhanski
Meth meets marijuana. By way of syrup. Yeah, there's a little.
Kevin Heffernan
Or corn syrup.
Katie Nolan
You also mentioned a major part of this. So this isn't a spoiler, but a major plot point is that you are marrying Thorny's sister. Which of you would you say had the most expertise to lend towards that storyline of a friend or a. Or a frenemy or whatever you would call Farva to the group dating one of your sisters?
Steve Lemme
Who here has a sister?
Kevin Heffernan
I do.
Steve Lemme
We all have sisters.
Katie Nolan
Everybody's got a sister.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And I am a sister. I'm a little sister. I'm an older brother who had lots of friends. I wanted to date, but I was not allowed to.
Kevin Heffernan
Well, you caused problems.
Katie Nolan
I was not allowed to date.
Eric Stolhanski
You have just the one older brother.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Eric Stolhanski
Does he like Dan? Because that would be.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Loves Dan.
Dan Soder
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Are we sure he loves. Yeah, I actually was, you know. Cause Dan's a comic, and we met through work. He was on my. One of my old podcasts. And the night that I. That Dan came and did my ESPN show, my brother came to visit and was watching. And I asked my brother at dinner that night. I was like, should I date Dan Soder? And he was like, yeah. Okay, so then here we are.
Eric Stolhanski
Now we're moving from the jump.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Isabella
Right away.
Steve Lemme
But now that it's been three years, is he like, you know, what's Dan waiting for? Like, why?
Katie Nolan
No, because Dan did this. This is what Dan. This was Dan's job.
Paul Soter
Okay, I see.
Dan Soder
It's me.
Katie Nolan
What am I waiting for? Is the rest of it.
Steve Lemme
So. Okay.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Okay.
Katie Nolan
And it was to see you guys. To get bullied into planning my wedding.
Kevin Heffernan
Well, we can do your wedding. We can plan a wonderful Indian wedding for you.
Katie Nolan
Which are big spectacles.
Kevin Heffernan
They're very big, long. Yeah. Bollywood dance numbers. Elephants you know, we can do all that stuff, but no booze.
Steve Lemme
No booze, though.
Chris
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
No guns and no booze.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Well, in our movies, at least.
Paul Soter
But in the movie, Farva complains about having to do all the things for the wedding.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah. I did have to plan the wedding.
Katie Nolan
Okay, so. Well, I saw you dance.
Kevin Heffernan
I did dance. That's a whole nother thing.
Steve Lemme
What do you think?
Isabella
Good.
Steve Lemme
Very light on his.
Chris
Is that not.
Katie Nolan
That was literally you doing it.
Kevin Heffernan
It was me doing it. And it was like the joke. Like, it was like a. Like a one line on the script, like one sentence. It's like they do a dance number, and then all of a sudden we find ourselves, like, with Bollywood choreographers and just doing all these dance numbers. And we spent like. Like days practicing, and it was amazing to do a dance number kind of outside of our wheelhouse.
Katie Nolan
Do you still remember it? You still.
Kevin Heffernan
I probably not.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
It's kind of the signature move. I mean, you know, but there were a few, you know.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Screw in the light bulb.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
When in doubt, screwing a light bulb.
Kevin Heffernan
It's for Indian.
Katie Nolan
I mean, it's two light bulbs. Because you're doing one down.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
What's this light fixture over here?
Isabella
What is this?
Paul Soter
That's a little makeup.
Katie Nolan
Makeup?
Chris
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
You can go.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, we got a lot of light bulbs. Bulbs in India. A lot of, like. We put them in weird places, like to leave them at elbow height.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Just in case.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Just in case.
Steve Lemme
And save time doing it, you know.
Jay Chandrasekhar
We don't have much time over there.
Steve Lemme
Right.
Jay Chandrasekhar
We gotta get it done.
Steve Lemme
Yeah. We gotta live our lives.
Kevin Heffernan
How many Indians does it take a
Katie Nolan
screw in a light bulb?
Jay Chandrasekhar
One.
Eric Stolhanski
Well, it turns out.
Steve Lemme
How many light bulbs does an Indian have?
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
An Indian with one arm. That's all you need. The thing about Kevin is he's, you know, not really a method actor. When we made Club Dread, he was supposed to be a martial arts expert with swords. And they said, would you like some formal sword training? He's like, nah. And they're like, he's also supposed to be a masseuse. And they're like, would you like some. To learn some good techniques? He's like, no. Like, he just wants to do the comedy version. But when you're doing a dance sequence, I feel like Kevin finally grew up. He was like, I should have some formal training.
Kevin Heffernan
Right.
Steve Lemme
And he did work with, like, very enthusiastic.
Paul Soter
Joffrey Ballet in Chicago.
Chris
Wow.
Steve Lemme
Yeah. Alvin Ailey.
Katie Nolan
Not quite beautiful.
Kevin Heffernan
Not quite. But I did. I did, did do, you know, several days, full days. Of rehearsal. And I think it shows, guys. I think it shows.
Katie Nolan
I think so, too.
Eric Stolhanski
It opens. The movie. It opens.
Steve Lemme
Would you allow yourself to be hired out for Indian Weddings now?
Kevin Heffernan
I would. I mean, the other thing was one of the choreographers, who's a good friend of ours, does Dancing with the Stars. And he. At one point, he was like, would you consider doing Dancing with the Stars? And I was like, yeah, come on.
Steve Lemme
And here's the thing.
Dan Soder
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
At WWE, Kevin's walking around with his Super Troopers 3 shirt on. He's a walking billboard. He's very much like, I'm gonna shake everybody's hand. We need to promote this movie. And yet here he is turning down the. The one with the most eyeballs, which would be dancing.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Fictitious offer for dancing.
Kevin Heffernan
That's right. It's too late now.
Jay Chandrasekhar
A theoretical that nobody has asked him to no.
Steve Lemme
Because he said no right off the bat.
Eric Stolhanski
So they didn't pursue it.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Chris
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
He closed the door before it ever really even opened.
Paul Soter
Unmanifested it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's tough.
Katie Nolan
Maybe someday. Guys, let's. I'm going to keep the door open for you. Would you do Dancing with the Stars? No. But I love to see you do Dancing with the Stars.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Funny.
Eric Stolhanski
If you do.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I will also not do Dancing with the Stars.
Katie Nolan
Let's all go around the room and say, if we would do Dancing with the Stars.
Steve Lemme
What about Paul and Dan Soder as
Jay Chandrasekhar
a partnership on Dancing Soder on Sodor?
Eric Stolhanski
I'm not going to close the door on that because I don't know. Is he a good dancer?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, if he lets loose, you know, sometimes he's in his head and you gotta go, like, just chill out.
Eric Stolhanski
So who would lead these, like, three drinks, do you think, before he is sober?
Katie Nolan
So like three joints?
Kevin Heffernan
No, he's Sodor.
Eric Stolhanski
Okay, so that feature is soda. Sodor. Sober, all three of us now, we
Katie Nolan
could do something with that.
Kevin Heffernan
We could do it to a tee.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah. You guys could drink soda pop.
Katie Nolan
Please. Please. The sound is disgusting on audio.
Steve Lemme
When he's getting high, do you call him baking soda?
Katie Nolan
Okay. And it's more knuckles. It's just more knuckles. Let's talk about SummerSlam. By the way, that was this last weekend. Which of you identified as a WWE fan before you went? Okay, yeah, yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Me.
Katie Nolan
Those soft.
Paul Soter
I don't know as much. These guys do, but usually when people
Steve Lemme
go, yeah, it means they're not.
Paul Soter
I don't watch a lot, but I like it. I enjoy it. We've gone to several. It's the third one we've gone to. Obviously had a great time.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. What do you. What do you. What would you say you enjoy about it?
Paul Soter
It's incredible performance. I mean, it's like the acrobatics. Acrobatics and athleticism and the high flying off the ropes and the ladders.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't know.
Steve Lemme
It's a. What about the story lines?
Jay Chandrasekhar
The story lines are excellent.
Paul Soter
Good story lines. Yeah. I mean, it's incredibly physical.
Katie Nolan
It is. It's because people always say it's really good. Are you.
Kevin Heffernan
Are you a fan or no?
Isabella
Yeah, I'm.
Katie Nolan
I've come around to it. Dan is obviously not a huge fan. He's like, you going, ye, it is. But it's like he's got an encyclopedic knowledge of it.
Kevin Heffernan
But do you guys ever sit on together and watch it together?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, he'll. I'll. Like, I ask too many questions. I need to know. I'm like, so what's the deal with this? But he can explain the years of it. It's like watching a soap opera with your mom where she's like, I don't
Eric Stolhanski
think I understood that until we sat down together and I'm just watching two gigantic goons throw each other around. And Kevin would be in my ear being like, yeah, it's cool. Because that was like they had like a mentor, protege relationship. But then he turned out that. That he had not known the mom and. But he was actually the cousin. And I'm like.
Steve Lemme
Because the father, Dusty Rhodes, had asked CM Punk to watch out for Cody.
Eric Stolhanski
Exactly.
Steve Lemme
When he came into the wwe, half
Jay Chandrasekhar
of our podcast with Dan Soder was
Katie Nolan
about this good, as it should be. I was hoping that that would be what you guys would get in and say. What did you say? Did you see Cody Rhodes neck tattoo? What do you think of that?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Which one is he again?
Katie Nolan
He's the blonde. He was the blonde one.
Paul Soter
You didn't see him?
Kevin Heffernan
You didn't go there.
Steve Lemme
You weren't there, though.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I wouldn't have seen it.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, the American Nightmare.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, the American Nightmare, of course.
Katie Nolan
And his song goes a little bit like.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, I don't know the song, but my son does.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Okay.
Eric Stolhanski
You did nothing to hide your. It would have been.
Katie Nolan
It would have been fun for a second.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't love the song. I'll say that.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I don't.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, no, it's a. It's a little much. Yeah, but it is what it is. It's wrestling.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
But you're a fan.
Kevin Heffernan
I like a little tougher.
Katie Nolan
What do you love about wrestling? What speaks to you about it?
Kevin Heffernan
I just love that it's like a. It's a live action comedy comic book. Like, you know what I mean? It's like good stories, bad guys and good guys and, you know, revenge and, you know, all that kind of stuff. I love that. And at the same time, I think
Katie Nolan
they're great athletes because people always say it's fake. Why do you care? It's fake.
Kevin Heffernan
But the next day after, you know, Sunday, we went, we saw a bunch of guys from Saturday and like, this guy had a shiner and Liv Morgan had a shiner and some guy tore his tricep.
Katie Nolan
And you're like, it's real. That part's real. They really do physically bump into each other and hit each other.
Steve Lemme
The ladder matches, like, if you've ever seen a ladder match, like, it's violent. Like, they're throwing each other onto metal ladders that are suspended across tables, like sometimes on their side and you see their backs, like, hitting these things. Like, that is real. That is painful.
Katie Nolan
Would you ever do it?
Isabella
Would you ever?
Steve Lemme
No. God. They had a thing. We went to the convention center and they had like a. You can jump off the top rope onto like a pillow, basically, and they take a photograph of you. I wouldn't even do that. I looked at that thing. I'm like, my back starts to hurt. I'm like, I'm not doing it.
Katie Nolan
So not for you.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
If you guys could choose one pro wrestler of all time to drink a beer with, who would it be?
Kevin Heffernan
It's got to be Andre.
Steve Lemme
Andre the Giant.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
They. They have those pictures of him with the beer can in his hand and it looks like a tiny little. Like one of those little water bottles.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, I'll drink it.
Steve Lemme
And he's got the record. It's. They're like, oh, yeah. One time I was sitting with him and he drank eight and a half cases of beer.
Paul Soter
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
And then 14 bottles of wine without
Kevin Heffernan
going to the bathroom once.
Katie Nolan
That's the part I'm envious of. You never have to empty the tank.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Huge.
Katie Nolan
Speaking of numbers of beers at a. At a sporting event like that that you guys are going to, how. What's your average, would you say, beers that you're going through?
Kevin Heffernan
I don't know. We had. We chugged on at the event. That's something they always ask us to do.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
But when we did barstool, that was interesting. We. They talk about the nine, nine, nine. Like you're supposed to drink. I've done that Beers.
Katie Nolan
Nine beers, nine hot dogs. Nine innings, you've done that, huh? I got. I think I got to eight, and I think I did Nine beers, seven and a half of a hot. And in nine innings, it was. It's hard.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Are you from Boston?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's why you say hot dog.
Katie Nolan
They say hood dog, I guess so. I've only learned that you guys don't have the word hot dog. That's just how we say it. Hot dog. Hot dog. Hot dog. Hot dog.
Kevin Heffernan
Hot dog.
Katie Nolan
Hot dog.
Kevin Heffernan
He says hot dog, too.
Katie Nolan
Sorry. We're sorry.
Kevin Heffernan
You guys want a hot dog?
Katie Nolan
You know, just the way it comes out.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
But these days, we were good for three. Three or four beers or.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, well, we were there for, whatever, four hours or whatever.
Eric Stolhanski
We.
Kevin Heffernan
We had a lot of beer Saturday night. Yeah.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
That might have been, like, certain.
Kevin Heffernan
It was a lot of beers.
Katie Nolan
An eight outer.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
You guys also sat two rows behind the Vikings.
Steve Lemme
One row.
Kevin Heffernan
One row behind the Vikings, One row
Paul Soter
behind, behind JJ and Addison. And we're right next to Pat Williams.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, I saw Pat Williams.
Kevin Heffernan
There's some big.
Paul Soter
Pat was great.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah. Clearly some linemen, and they were into it. And so they were standing most of the time. And the security guards, they want people to sit down unless it's for an entrance, and so they're always trying to. They wouldn't tell those guys to sit down, and I understand that. But also, they needed to more than anyone. Six foot seven, gigantic guys in front of you does prohibit what you can see. But that got us into a conversation about, like. It's true. How do you have a short quarterback?
Katie Nolan
I was gonna say Russell Wilson. It would immediately make me go, like, how could you possibly.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah, because, like, isn't Kyler Murray going to be the guy behind those guys?
Katie Nolan
What a good question.
Eric Stolhanski
Do you have.
Isabella
Cool.
Katie Nolan
Really cool.
Steve Lemme
He can't see over that line.
Kevin Heffernan
Well, the funny thing is, those guys are so into it, I thought they were going to go over the. The thing. I mean, they're, like, so excited about it, you know.
Katie Nolan
Eric, that's your team, right?
Paul Soter
Yeah. Love the Vikings. I was so excited.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Paul Soter
And Pat was a fan, which is super cool. Like, you know when Pat was playing with Kevin Williams and Jared Allen, you know?
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Paul Soter
Big fan of those guys. So to sit next to Pat, and he actually knew our movies, I was excited.
Katie Nolan
That's awesome.
Paul Soter
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Do you have any.
Isabella
Oh, go ahead.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah, I'm sure Jared Allen must have.
Paul Soter
Jared Allen's good buddy of ours must
Eric Stolhanski
have turned him on to our stuff.
Paul Soter
Yeah. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I was going to ask if you have any thoughts on the quarterback situation.
Paul Soter
I'm excited.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
It's not. I mean, I don't make it out like it's a competition. He's. He's the cornerback, I think.
Paul Soter
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
It's not a competition, so.
Paul Soter
Yeah, I mean, we'll see.
Eric Stolhanski
I'm just not. I'm not a big Kyler Murray guy.
Kevin Heffernan
You know, he's sitting there waiting the wings and he distinguished himself. So he's going to go play, right?
Paul Soter
I mean, I think he's the starting guy as far as I know, but
Jay Chandrasekhar
two of the greatest receivers. He's going to do just fine.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Paul Soter
He's got Addison and Jefferson. I'm not sure about the O line yet. We'll find out. But it should be exciting.
Katie Nolan
Confident.
Paul Soter
I feel good about it.
Katie Nolan
Shoulders back.
Paul Soter
I mean, he was a first round draft, right.
Kevin Heffernan
It was going to win the super bowl in August, right?
Isabella
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
All the teams are gonna win this.
Katie Nolan
Hey, speaking of which, you guys are in. I mean, this makes sense and I'm glad to hear it's the case. But you guys are all in a fantasy football league together.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So this guy Jay dropped out. I'm sorry.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
What do you mean you dropped out?
Jay Chandrasekhar
I don't believe in fantasy Jay. I think it's right. I think it's dungeons for decades.
Katie Nolan
So Jay was losing a lot and wasn't really.
Jay Chandrasekhar
No. In fact, I won the one year I was in and then I exited.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
So going out on top I can respect.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah. John Elway. Yeah, true.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Did he really fall?
Kevin Heffernan
It was Kurt Warner a million years ago.
Katie Nolan
And then you never.
Jay Chandrasekhar
This is for losers.
Eric Stolhanski
Wow, you are alien.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Not a popular opinion, but it is
Kevin Heffernan
not at all the 100 million people around the world.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, it's a multi, multi million feel.
Katie Nolan
Any FOMO when they get together in.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I'm just so grateful for all the time I have not doing this.
Eric Stolhanski
It is.
Katie Nolan
Look, I used to play D and
Jay Chandrasekhar
D when I was a kid. I stopped at 11.
Kevin Heffernan
You're such a minority here.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's the same thing. It's ridiculous.
Katie Nolan
Damn. Calling him the minority in here is pretty crazy thing to do.
Kevin Heffernan
Look, I heard it.
Paul Soter
I heard that it is time consuming.
Katie Nolan
But you guys do still do it, even without dad?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yes, it's better.
Steve Lemme
It's better without him.
Katie Nolan
Really.
Kevin Heffernan
Ouch.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Sometimes I'll ask them, I'm like, who you got as a quarterback? And they'll start into their long speech
Katie Nolan
and I go, in fairness, you did ask. You know, you open the Door.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I'm just, just trying to tee them up to bore me.
Kevin Heffernan
How many are you in?
Katie Nolan
So I've actually, as I'm giving you all this shit. I, I, I took some time off.
Kevin Heffernan
I see.
Katie Nolan
I needed some. I had my. The most I've ever been in at once is three. It's just too much.
Steve Lemme
Three is too much.
Katie Nolan
You end up rooting against yourself and,
Steve Lemme
well, you end up feeling neutral about it. You don't get enjoy.
Katie Nolan
So I do. I'm gonna. I need to get back into one and, like, really focus on it this year so that I can. I was gonna say, who makes up the rest of your league?
Kevin Heffernan
Do you have, like, guys you went to college with? Okay.
Steve Lemme
Like our friend RJ from Boston who
Kevin Heffernan
says hot dog, says hot dog and picks only Patriots.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That's great.
Kevin Heffernan
Isn't that what you do?
Katie Nolan
No.
Kevin Heffernan
You're a Patriots fan.
Katie Nolan
That's. Yes, but that's a terrible strategy.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Picking only Patriots has never been a good.
Steve Lemme
But that's mostly a Boston thing. Like, the fun thing about playing with Boston players is you can trade them any old garbage Patriot.
Chris
Yeah.
Steve Lemme
And they'll take them.
Katie Nolan
That is mostly true.
Paul Soter
Yeah. This year we can still trade Rick Gronk.
Steve Lemme
Oh, I do. Every, Every year. I'm like, you know, Gronk is coming out of retirement. He is. I'll take him. I'll trade. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Do you guys name your teams? Something funny or is that just. Are you like. We're professionally funny. We don't care to.
Steve Lemme
No, we all have. We have, you know, funny names.
Isabella
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
But a lot of people tell us they name their teams after us.
Paul Soter
Definitely.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
There's a lot of.
Eric Stolhanski
There's a lot of people out there.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Chicken fuckers.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Oh, yeah. There's a lot of chicken fuckers that definitely won a league or two. I'm sure. Who's the best at it? Would you say of all of you, I'm the.
Steve Lemme
I'm the defending champion right now.
Katie Nolan
Congratulations.
Steve Lemme
Thank you.
Kevin Heffernan
He's won a few championships recently.
Steve Lemme
Won four out of the last five championships.
Katie Nolan
Whoa.
Eric Stolhanski
See how quickly Jay falls asleep?
Katie Nolan
Honestly, who cares?
Kevin Heffernan
I mean, who cares?
Katie Nolan
We can move on.
Kevin Heffernan
We can talk about it.
Eric Stolhanski
Look, I'm happy. I'm making fun of Jay.
Dan Soder
Talk about.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Right.
Katie Nolan
We could talk about.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I was just supposed to answer honestly.
Katie Nolan
We could talk about real sports. We could talk about Paul. You're a. Paul's a Dodgers fan.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I didn't say let's move on. Let's talk about it.
Isabella
Yeah.
Paul Soter
Murray, would you.
Eric Stolhanski
I lived out Here for a long time and was a Mets fan and then moved to LA with these guys. And then I have a son who. Big baseball player. And it's just after a few years, it was like, why am I holding on to.
Katie Nolan
In New York?
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah. Then my son. But he and I talked the other day and we've both like. The Skuba thing has, like, actually made us less. There's a point at which when your team just takes whoever they want, you, you are kind of like.
Kevin Heffernan
But they had to trade for him. I mean, it's not like there was, you know, I mean, they had to give stuff up.
Katie Nolan
Three proud.
Eric Stolhanski
But the team starts to have this perception. And maybe because you're a Yankees fan,
Katie Nolan
I love that this is actually when it gets good.
Eric Stolhanski
But just. It's just, you know, they felt like a great group of great guys. And I. I know they weren't all home, you know, local products or whatever. Homegrown products. But like. Like, I don't know, there's just a point where you're like, okay, give it some time.
Katie Nolan
Even you're sick of it.
Kevin Heffernan
Give it some time.
Katie Nolan
So even you're sick of it.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
This is a good perspective for fans to hear. A Dodgers fan, that's like, I'm sorry, we're ruining baseball.
Eric Stolhanski
And also, like, I was always the guy.
Kevin Heffernan
Come on.
Eric Stolhanski
But like, to me, I was always the guy who'd be like, I would be great to see the Tigers be great. Okay. It would be great to have them.
Isabella
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
We don't live in that world anymore, though. I mean. Well, it's not the Dodgers.
Eric Stolhanski
I know. But every now and then, I love this.
Katie Nolan
You're really keeping up for them. This is really
Jay Chandrasekhar
defend the way the Yankees used to bite James.
Steve Lemme
No, but. But I think also in Los Angeles, a lot of people, as with Mets fans, as with Red Sox fans, as with a lot of teams that are jealous of the Yankees, like, in Los Angeles, my son's, like, kindergarten teacher used to tell the kids, like, the Yankees are bad. Like, the Dodgers are a real team. The Yankees, they're just buying championships. Like, they just throw all their money at it. And when they won that first, that World Series recently, I emailed him. I was like, are we gonna start talking about the fact that the Dodgers have the highest payroll? He didn't respond to me at all.
Isabella
Whoa.
Steve Lemme
Yeah. He was scared to get a date.
Kevin Heffernan
And you put your kid in the corner with a dunce hat on.
Dan Soder
Right.
Katie Nolan
Conference call. A parent teacher conference on that. You're a Knicks fan.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And you're a Knicks fan?
Paul Soter
I am, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Did you guys get to experience any of the.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah, well, we were here. We were here mixing this movie for two weeks. It was. It was kind of during the lead up, it was kind of the Hawks and the Sixers and, you know, it wasn't the championship stuff. We were in LA for that. But there was a. The vibe here was fantastic.
Katie Nolan
It was crazy.
Kevin Heffernan
It was unbelievable.
Katie Nolan
I know as a Celtics fan, I didn't partake, but to see. It was nice, you know, to see people out in the streets.
Steve Lemme
Well, those shows, like, I'm always amazed when people. There are people out there who are like, oh, I don't like sports. I don't watch sports. And to me, like, the last two Knicks series, maybe the last three Knicks series leading up to the championship, last. Like, that, to me, defined what sports is all about. Anything can happen. You know, like, you just, like, don't leave when they're down by 30.
Katie Nolan
So true.
Steve Lemme
Don't leave because something could possibly happen.
Kevin Heffernan
I mean, they were great games. I mean, you know, objectively, as a sports fan, people were phenomenal. Enjoyed watching them.
Eric Stolhanski
There was a great nostalgic aspect to it because we were all living here together in the 90s. And so that mid-90s Nick's time was super exciting.
Kevin Heffernan
And they were all sitting courtside.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Ewing, Larry, Johnson, Starks, they're all there sitting courtside for this stuff.
Katie Nolan
It's crazy because it also does make you feel old.
Kevin Heffernan
I guess so.
Katie Nolan
But, you know, I guess if you
Kevin Heffernan
put it like that, but it made me feel young again.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, but there was something communal about it. Like. Like, communal about it. Like. Like Spike Lee. Seeing Spike Lee in the ticker tape parade, to me, was almost as good as seeing the Knicks up there. Like, if. If anything, like, he deserved it more. You know, he's been with them through thick and thin. Like, that's real fandom right there. And it was. I don't know, I thought that was a really cool thing. Like, some of those fans have been there a long time.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Pretty thin. For a long time. Yeah.
Steve Lemme
But we're the defending champions.
Jay Chandrasekhar
The Knicks have not won since 72.
Kevin Heffernan
That's correct. It's been a long time.
Paul Soter
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And it's harder as a fan because you don't actually get to do anything about it. You just have to kind of sit there and take it. You can't really help.
Steve Lemme
You can't.
Katie Nolan
Can't play. Speaking of playing, did you guys. I heard rumors that you were on a softball team?
Steve Lemme
The Lartos.
Katie Nolan
The Lartos, yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
We played.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Many rumors, a lot of myths, mythical stories.
Kevin Heffernan
We won a championship.
Paul Soter
We did.
Steve Lemme
We did. Jay played with us for one season and then he quit.
Eric Stolhanski
No, don't.
Katie Nolan
You can't.
Steve Lemme
Although we might. We might have fired him. He wasn't very good.
Jay Chandrasekhar
You did not fire me.
Steve Lemme
I think we might have.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I won the championship myself and then I left.
Kevin Heffernan
You were not on the championship team.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I was not on the.
Katie Nolan
Is this still a team or that It's. That's passed. Days passed.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
I think it kind of fell apart. Right.
Steve Lemme
The amazing thing is I. I've got the trophies, the three trophies in my garage, and it's 2006 is like we were doing it.
Kevin Heffernan
That's when the. That's the heyday.
Katie Nolan
Just a couple years ago.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
In 2006. I wish. A couple years ago. Who was the best, most athletic on the.
Kevin Heffernan
On the team of us. Of you guys is the best Baseball.
Jay Chandrasekhar
But.
Kevin Heffernan
Yes.
Eric Stolhanski
He was a. You were a Minnesota all state high school baseball player, right?
Paul Soter
I guess baseball. Growing up.
Katie Nolan
So. That's what they say. What position did you.
Paul Soter
Third base.
Kevin Heffernan
He was the hot corner.
Katie Nolan
Damn.
Kevin Heffernan
He was that corner for the Legartos team.
Katie Nolan
Nice.
Paul Soter
Yeah, we had fun more than anything.
Steve Lemme
I thought.
Paul Soter
We played great as a team, though.
Steve Lemme
It's a team sport.
Paul Soter
It was a real team sport. And you have to have nine guys always out there playing their best. And Soda's a great pitcher.
Katie Nolan
Nice.
Eric Stolhanski
But we would play against. So Michael Bay had a team. Those were our. Our enemies. And it was just Michael Bay and former ball players that were playing for him because they wanted to be the softball.
Steve Lemme
Lots of minor league baseball. He had Isaiah Mustafa, who's a former Kansas City chief, who's, you know, famous actor now. Yeah, yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
Old Spice guy.
Paul Soter
Yeah, the old.
Katie Nolan
That's crazy.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And Michael Bay and just a bunch of athletes.
Kevin Heffernan
They would cheer so hard for him like he. They hit a dribbler down like the space.
Jay Chandrasekhar
He was terrible.
Steve Lemme
Michael.
Katie Nolan
I was going to say, I bet he.
Steve Lemme
No, it's like he doesn't even know which end of the bat to hold. And like he would hit little teeny dribblers and somehow dig it out. And yeah, they'd be like, great hit, Mikey.
Kevin Heffernan
Way to run it out, Mike.
Katie Nolan
Good job, Mikey. Good hustle, Mike.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Hollywood.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
All right. Okay. Last thing I wanted you guys to help me do this sweet angel here is Isabella. She's a producer on our podcast and a Mets fan. Part of. Well, so this is the thing. Part of the ethos of this podcast, it's called Casuals is trying to get people into sports for exactly the reason you brought up with the Knicks parade. And, and just sort of the way it's like a communal space. I think a lot of times sports media doesn't speak to people who aren't already die hard fans who already have all the information. Anyway. Isabella's kind of like a test case for. Okay, so we.
Steve Lemme
She.
Katie Nolan
She really leaned into her Knicks fandom at the beginning of last basketball season. That worked out for her. She got to go to the parade and see them win. She's a Mets fan, which is not working out for her.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't think it ever will. And I, I. If you're, if you're casually getting into a team, I would not get into that.
Katie Nolan
But she's been to like seven games this season, so she is putting in the work.
Steve Lemme
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Where we're running into now is last year we had her draft our fantasy football team for the podcast.
Kevin Heffernan
Okay.
Katie Nolan
We had. It was her. She represented our. Our show.
Kevin Heffernan
Do you have any of football?
Paul Soter
No.
Kevin Heffernan
So that's.
Katie Nolan
We gave her one episode's worth of like, crash course. She won the league. She won the league.
Steve Lemme
That happens.
Katie Nolan
So this year we're trying to hone in on who she should be a fan of in the NFL. She has not yet claimed 18.
Kevin Heffernan
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Her fan. I'm gonna give you her percentages. We asked her what percentage of you is leaning towards what fan base. I think some of these are gonna alarm you guys, and I need you to step in.
Paul Soter
Okay.
Katie Nolan
But a lot of them are teams you guys root for, so I'm hoping you can help pitch her on where she should go.
Steve Lemme
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Okay. So currently 22% of her wants to root for the New York Jets.
Eric Stolhanski
Go for it.
Steve Lemme
They're the. They're the Mets of football.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah. But don't do it.
Katie Nolan
And what a sell that is.
Eric Stolhanski
Right?
Brady
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Eric Stolhanski
All the pain you're feeling with that team, you get to feel it exponentially. Yeah.
Steve Lemme
What I'm really doing, this is this. This is an insult towards the Mets. I've just insulted the Mets and I'm a Jets fan.
Katie Nolan
My notes said you were a Jets and a Giants fan, which is crazy.
Steve Lemme
It's not that crazy when you think about it, because.
Katie Nolan
Right, but then it is again. If you think about it a little longer, it does circle back.
Eric Stolhanski
I've been hearing this for years, so we'll put it to you.
Steve Lemme
Okay. When I was a kid, you know, this is like I'm 57. So this is like before all the cable channels and everything. You just get local games on Sunday
Kevin Heffernan
in New York City.
Paul Soter
You live in New York City.
Steve Lemme
I'm from New York City City. And so I'd get two games. We'd get. My friends and I would get the Giants, and we'd get the Jets. And we weren't just going to stop watching football because the jets run. So we would just watch both games and it was. We'd make fun of the Jets. We're like, they're terrible. And then every now and then, you'd have like the sack exchange comes along
Kevin Heffernan
and it's like, gas Bill Parcell's taking over.
Steve Lemme
Then you have Parcels and Testaverde, and it's like, whoa, wait a second.
Katie Nolan
But then there's the butt fumble, and you go like, oh, that's not my team. I'm a Giants fan.
Steve Lemme
Exactly. So it's. It's kind of like, you know, they're like the. And then the Giants, of course, would win. You know, they. They won their Super Bowls. But it's, you know, it's basically like a big brother and a little brother.
Isabella
Okay.
Steve Lemme
Where you're like, okay, I'll. I'll root for both. I like both teams. And now don't root for the Jets.
Kevin Heffernan
It's. Don't do that.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Don't do that. 22%.
Eric Stolhanski
Let's see, what else.
Katie Nolan
18% of her wants to root for the New York Giants.
Steve Lemme
Okay.
Kevin Heffernan
Much smarter. Yeah, much smarter.
Isabella
Why?
Kevin Heffernan
Well, they have a. A young quarterback who could have a nice future. They've got young wide receiver. They've got scattered defensive front.
Steve Lemme
Don't forget that scatter boot.
Kevin Heffernan
They got a coach with gravitas now.
Steve Lemme
They got some nice. Some good defense.
Paul Soter
Sexy Dexy.
Kevin Heffernan
They got rid of sexy, but they really stacked their pass rushers. I mean, they're really going to be a fun defense to watch.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Two years, two to three years away. So you could come in early and you could ride the train.
Eric Stolhanski
You could.
Kevin Heffernan
And you live here, you know, you should be, you know, a little loyal to them.
Katie Nolan
That's why she's leaning. I think those two teams of the.
Eric Stolhanski
Prepare yourself for a little obnoxiousness. That's my only thing is, I don't think Gabo and Jackson.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't think Jim Hart's gonna climb down on that. Harbor's gonna stand for that.
Eric Stolhanski
Okay, well, then if that's the case, then yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, we'll see.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't think he will.
Katie Nolan
I thought so, too, till I Saw the speech at the beginning of the.
Kevin Heffernan
Well, I get it, but that's not gonna happen again.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. All right.
Kevin Heffernan
That's not gonna happen again.
Katie Nolan
25% of her. 25 wants to root for the Chicago Bears.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's an obviously great job choice.
Katie Nolan
I agree.
Kevin Heffernan
Are you from Chicago?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
She likes Caleb Williams.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Caleb Williams. He's on the COVID of the Madden game.
Kevin Heffernan
He. That's the curse. That's the curse.
Jay Chandrasekhar
About to go on A. A mighty tear. Getting in early now, that's a very smart move with a.
Katie Nolan
Like, a historic franchise.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Absolutely.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, absolutely.
Katie Nolan
It's. And the colors are blue and orange, which we already know you love, but
Kevin Heffernan
can I go back to. Where did you grow up?
Paul Soter
Jersey. Okay.
Eric Stolhanski
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Okay. 15 of her is thinking about rooting for the Eagles.
Kevin Heffernan
Oh, my God. No.
Steve Lemme
Now we're just. Now it's like, what's wrong?
Kevin Heffernan
What a horrible. Their fan base. They're known for being just.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Just unlikable.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I was waiting to see if there was more from that. That sentence that you were starting or if you. That noise was the.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Famously threw batteries at Santa Claus at the stadium. Like, Santa Claus guy dressed up as Santa Claus to make the kids happy. They threw batteries.
Steve Lemme
And then with the Eagle Stadium, they. They actually have a holding cell and a courtroom down in the bowels of the stadium.
Kevin Heffernan
They used to.
Steve Lemme
Oh, they don't have any, but it
Kevin Heffernan
was a Veterans Day.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Yeah. They changed the stadium.
Katie Nolan
They don't have something.
Jay Chandrasekhar
You hear that?
Kevin Heffernan
That there was a judge. They don't even have anymore.
Paul Soter
Yeah, maybe they.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's what she looks.
Katie Nolan
There's no rule of law now.
Steve Lemme
She can commit crimes in the stadium. Is. Maybe that's. Maybe that's.
Katie Nolan
Eagles 15%, 49ers.
Kevin Heffernan
Okay.
Eric Stolhanski
But that team has no wide receivers now. Like, all their wide receivers.
Katie Nolan
Well, they just got
Kevin Heffernan
Mike Evans.
Paul Soter
How old's Debo now?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah, they have Mike Evans.
Eric Stolhanski
Mike Evans, he's like, what, 47?
Paul Soter
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
But he's still awesome.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Incredible.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, they're both good.
Jay Chandrasekhar
49ers are always going to be winners.
Isabella
Yeah.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's just the way they do it out there.
Kevin Heffernan
I don't. I don't. I don't mind that. If you want to go that direction,
Katie Nolan
I'd be okay with it. I'll allow it.
Steve Lemme
Well, they. They bring in us an element of. Of class.
Dan Soder
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
I like kittle. I like McCaffrey.
Paul Soter
They got some good players still.
Kevin Heffernan
You know, I like Brock.
Katie Nolan
That's everybody. Yeah, pretty much.
Kevin Heffernan
I mean, I like these guys.
Katie Nolan
And then 5% of her is open to hearing a pitch. So I don't know if the Vikings or the Broncos wanted to pitch. What about your pitch? These were my. I. I told her. She came root for the Patriots. It'd be bad for the content. It's. It's a. It's a weird time. It's a weird time, and I just think she would have missed the.
Kevin Heffernan
It's my turning again.
Jay Chandrasekhar
They could be too late to jump it and.
Isabella
Why can't you?
Steve Lemme
Why can't you?
Isabella
I just, I'm. I want to support a New York team.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, there you go.
Kevin Heffernan
There you go. Well, we've set you up.
Katie Nolan
Well, it sounds like now we gotta go jets or Giants. You really did back her right into the easy thing.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
Save yourself the pain. Don't root for the Jets.
Steve Lemme
Also, you can go to more games.
Katie Nolan
They're so expensive, though. And MetLife blows.
Chris
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
That's stadium.
Jay Chandrasekhar
You're right.
Kevin Heffernan
We were season ticket holders for the Giants all growing up, and then they moved to that stadium.
Katie Nolan
I'm like, what sucks? Getting in and out of there is just a nightmare.
Kevin Heffernan
It's just terrible.
Katie Nolan
No good. You know? So I didn't know if you guys wanted to make a pitch for the Vikings or the Broncos.
Eric Stolhanski
I mean, I would, but I have to say, to root for a team in the town you live in is just nice. Cause then like, let's say you're a Giants fan and they win. And then the next day you're going down the street and you see somebody, the Giants, and you're like, hey, hey.
Steve Lemme
Like, that's a great.
Eric Stolhanski
That's one of the great things about
Katie Nolan
sports, always seeing the Giants walk down the street.
Eric Stolhanski
Giants fans.
Katie Nolan
Oh, fans. Okay, Sorry.
Eric Stolhanski
Yeah, that would have been a great sale, though. And the next thing you know, you'll have Jackson Gar. Walking down the street.
Katie Nolan
Jackson, great game. You're like, thank you.
Steve Lemme
Well, when the New York Rangers. It's 94 now, but when the Rangers won the Stanley Cup.
Dan Soder
Cup.
Steve Lemme
The next night, I was out at a bar and Brian Leech was there with the cup. And I got to drink out of the Stanley Cup.
Isabella
Whoa.
Steve Lemme
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That's amazing.
Steve Lemme
It was amazing.
Katie Nolan
But now you'll never win it because you touched.
Steve Lemme
Oh, cuz, I jinxed myself.
Katie Nolan
You touched. You're not supposed to touch it.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, you broke it.
Kevin Heffernan
You broke it.
Katie Nolan
You broke it.
Steve Lemme
Well, it's. You know, it. It comes apart because there are rings that have been added on. So like the base comes off. But he said, I think you should hold it above your head. And so I lifted up, held it up above my head and then the base came off. There's a big faux pas. And I was like, oh my God, I'm sorry. He's like, no, no, it's okay. And then he said, but now I think you should drink out of it. And he was pouring his beer into the cup.
Katie Nolan
Hell yeah.
Dan Soder
That's awesome.
Eric Stolhanski
That's sick.
Kevin Heffernan
Pretty good.
Steve Lemme
Yeah, it was good.
Katie Nolan
Hell yeah. Did you want to picture the Vikings?
Paul Soter
Vikings. Well, I think the Vikings are going to be interesting. They have 5% right. And there's prediction they might be the wild card team. They're saying maybe like a Seattle Seahawks where they're not the top of the division, but they're this team that kind of wins the wild card, sneaks up on you.
Kevin Heffernan
You can win that division.
Paul Soter
I don't know, it's just, you know, that's some conversation happened around.
Katie Nolan
He's just talking to the experts, getting the expert intel.
Kevin Heffernan
They could. I mean Bears, Lions, Vikings, I mean they're all. The pack's good too.
Paul Soter
There's four good teams.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Kevin Heffernan
They could all be eight and eight.
Jay Chandrasekhar
That's right.
Kevin Heffernan
Or what it is now seven and nine.
Steve Lemme
NFC north is fun. NFC North. You get a winner out of there and then they get. Get, you know, banged out of the playoffs in the next round.
Kevin Heffernan
Knocked out of the playoffs.
Jay Chandrasekhar
At least we're in the playoffs, pal. At least we're in the playoffs.
Steve Lemme
What?
Paul Soter
Never want to.
Steve Lemme
There's a new season. We got. We got bad injuries. We had neighbors and scatter.
Katie Nolan
Boo.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Lot of excuses.
Katie Nolan
So when push comes to shove, you are a Giants fan. It sounds like you will root for the jets if the Giants claim the Giants. Crazy. That's crazy.
Steve Lemme
No. Well, look, if I will say this in. In 85 when the Mets went to the World series against the. 86 against the. The Red Sox. I was rooting for the Mets.
Katie Nolan
Great.
Steve Lemme
Because I hate Boston the most.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, that's completely different than claiming both football teams as your team. Those are completely different situations. If the. If one of the New York teams makes it all the way. Yeah, of course you support them over the Boston team. But you can't say you're a Mets Yankees fan.
Steve Lemme
No, you definitely can't.
Katie Nolan
That would be a. What do you mean?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Well, that'd be.
Steve Lemme
That'd be a waste of time. That'd be. That's 162 games for each. Like you, you know, you don't wanna. And also you don't wanna waste your time with the Mets. I know you don't wanna waste your time with the jets either. Yeah, I know, but that's the fun of the Jets. It's like, it's. They're so painful to watch.
Jay Chandrasekhar
You can leave now, Steve.
Steve Lemme
I'm ready to go at any time. I'm gonna let you all leave anytime.
Katie Nolan
Super Troopers 3, when is it officially out in theaters?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Friday.
Isabella
This.
Katie Nolan
This Friday? Yeah, go see it in theaters. No, this comes out on Thursday. So it will the day. So it comes out tomorrow. Go see it in theaters. Shout out a theatrical release. You guys bring comedies back to the theaters. Yeah, let's go. So we'll all be out there seeing it. I'm still waiting for tickets to see the Odyssey, but I'll get tickets.
Kevin Heffernan
Forget about this. There's no laughs in the ass.
Katie Nolan
I heard it's not funny. A real boar. A long snooze of hilarious at all. Fantastic. Thank you guys all for being here.
Chris
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
I appreciate it.
Kevin Heffernan
Thanks for having us.
Katie Nolan
Hell, yeah.
Steve Lemme

It's the.
Katie Nolan
It's the final block of the show and big thanks to the guys from Super Troopers. Big thanks to the Broken Lizard team. What did you have there?
Isabella
ABBA song.
Katie Nolan
Did you want to just do it one more time?
Isabella
I don't know if it's super, but I'm gonna say that because it rhyme. It goes with this. Super Trooper lights are gonna find me Nine, nine always do.
Katie Nolan
Bum, bum, bum, bum Perfect. Did you. Did they help? Was that helpful, them telling you what team to root for and not.
Isabella
It really was, actually.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. It was nice to get some insight.
Isabella
Some insight from.
Chris
What percentage is the jets up to now?
Isabella
The Jets. I mean, the jets are going lower, guys, as we're doing this, so you guys are doing a good job.
Katie Nolan
I had. Unfortunately, I did see one person say it would be the best for content if she was a Jets fan. And I went, that's true. So I. Now I feel like I'm pivoting, but I'm just gonna let this. I'm gonna let go and let God. Okay.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So we're gonna see what happens, and we'll get into all this. I kind of like
Isabella
when I forgot his name, the one who was like, I'm both a Jets and a Giants fan.
Katie Nolan
Steve. Steve.
Isabella
There you go. I was like, that kind of sounds like a cool idea.
Katie Nolan
No, it doesn't. It's absurd. You can't be both. You don't. Can't you just be, like, a general. Like, you can like New York. Like I said, if the. If the one that isn't your team makes it to the super bowl, you can go, yeah, I'm rooting for the. The Giants. Because it wouldn't be the Jets. Right. But you could be like, yeah, I'm rooting for the Giants, but. But it doesn't. But that's not saying you're a fan of both. When on the. In the regular season, you. You have to have one Rob Lowe
Brady
in the NFL hat over here.
Katie Nolan
Yes. It's not. It's not how it works.
Isabella
All right, fine. Whatever.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, good. Get it right or pay the price. Hey, Chris. What do we got going on in our inboxes? Let's take a. Let's take a. Let's rustle around in the mailbag and pull something out.
Eric Stolhanski
Let's see.
Katie Nolan
Nice. That's a donut in a bag. Isabelle and I each had two donuts today.
Isabella
Wait, I don't know. I think I see something in here.
Katie Nolan
What do you got?
Isabella
Wait, I think it's a voicemail, actually. What are you doing in the pin?
Katie Nolan
The email box. Crazy.
Isabella
I think it's Adam in Chicago.
Dan Soder
Hey, Katie. And the casualties, it's Adam Chicago. So I just saw that the Cleveland WNBA team dropped its name and logo. And the name of the team is the Cleveland Sirens, which. Okay, that's a fine name. That's a fine name. It fits Brady's rules of having an S at the end. But you gotta look at the logo because it's just. It's the 76ers logo from the 90s and 2000s from the AI era. Like almost exactly, just in different colors with a little like woman's body at the bottom. But the front, it's the exact same. It's just. It's the same logo. And I'm so confused because they had a good name before. McCleveland rockers. But I guess you don't want to tie yourself to a dead team. Looking at you, Portland, but still very confusing with the logo. Anyways, let me know what you guys think. Love you guys. Mean it.
Katie Nolan
Love you. Mean it by. Great, great question. It's so funny because when I looked at it live for the first time on the radio yesterday, I said, for some reason, this is making me think of the Sixers. And I thought it was just because S, I, R, E, N, S is like Sixers, but with an R where the X is and an N where the R is. And so I was like, maybe my brain's just making a connection that isn't there. And it's very life affirming, Adam, to hear you say that. Like, yes, this is very reminiscent of the Sixers font that they've used. Brady, I can't tell if you're agreeing or disagreeing with the faces you're making into this zoom call. So if you'd want to use your words.
Brady
Try not to interrupt, but I do have takes. I don't like the name. We have the sirens.
Katie Nolan
Nothing's good enough for this guy. You hear that? We fit the rules of the S at the end, but it's still not enough.
Brady
You have the sirens in the pwhl.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
And that is because in hockey, siren is a double entendre. It is, you know, the siren that goes off when you score a goal. And it's also the mythological female creature that lures sailors to their death.
Katie Nolan
But they lean into the siren like the Wii U. They do the like we, you, we thing. So.
Brady
Yeah, but it works because it's two things. This is just like Lake Erie sirens, of which I don't believe there were mythological.
Isabella
There's lore, though. I haven't looked into it, but I.
Katie Nolan
I thought I saw People saying the same thing.
Brady
That there is lore but evokes Lake Eerie, which. Okay, even then, it's just, like, one thing. And I usually dislike names that are just like, yeah, me.
Katie Nolan
Like the Guardians evoke sexual white male
Brady
in my 40s saying, I hate names that are, you know, girly for the sake of girly. But, you know, like, I feel like this doesn't need to be just like, let's find a female character. My biggest issue with this. Number two would be the colors. Number one would be.
Katie Nolan
I don't mind the colors. I don't.
Isabella
Something.
Brady
It's just like, blue on blue on blue. It's just blue and white. Biggest issue here is that the logo is. It's the word Cleveland above the much larger word sirens in the shape of the Sixers logo. Underneath is the mythological being in a light blue. It's the siren herself laying down in, like, a swimming motion, holding the ball. This is the basketball team. She is moving.
Katie Nolan
Don't dare tell me this is traveling.
Brady
This is traveling.
Isabella
Oh, my gosh.
Brady
She is moving with a basketball without dribbling it.
Katie Nolan
Isabella, will you start singing and lure this guy into a rock, please?
Brady
She is not dribbling.
Chris
She's going for a dunk.
Katie Nolan
Go ahead, Brady. Turn into the rocks. That's crazy. She's not.
Isabella
No, she's just.
Katie Nolan
She's underwater. The rules are different. You can't. You can't dribble underwater.
Brady
Is that in the rules?
Katie Nolan
If they were playing water basketball, it. She plays water polo. It's different.
Eric Stolhanski
I know.
Steve Lemme
We just shouldn't be.
Brady
We shouldn't be moving with the basketball without dribbling.
Katie Nolan
Sure.
Brady
In the logo, at least.
Katie Nolan
That's a crazy note to have. My note is just when we have. When women's sports are having a moment, it's. I know there are other instances where a men's league has the same name as another team in another men's league. Like the.
Jay Chandrasekhar
The.
Katie Nolan
The Sacramento Kings and the LA Kings. The LA Kings are a hockey team, and the Sacramento Kings are a basketball team. I know that exists. I know there's overlap like that, but for some reason, because of women's sports having a moment and a lot of new leagues coming into our consciousness. I just wish we didn't use a name that we just started associating with New York for this other women's sport. Now it's. Again, it's not like a deal breaker. It just makes me go like, we just did sirens. I know since they were named the Sirens, the Odyssey started popping off. So like, maybe that brought sirens back into everybody's consciousness. As Isabella said, maybe there is actual Cleveland lore about what goes on on Lake Erie. I didn't. I always thought sirens were more of, like, an ocean type of thing more than a lake or, like. Like, up. Dups have sirens. I don't. It's tough to say.
Isabella
So I think even rain puddles have sirens.
Katie Nolan
Whoa. That's Myrtle. Myrtle is a. Is a siren for rain puddles. Drags me through all of them, you know, so. But. So it's. Look, I'm happy for the team. I like that. I like the colors. I like the two. The two different blues with the white. I think it's, like, a nice monochromatic moment that they could do some cool merch with. I just.
Isabella
I generally like the sirens as a. As a name, so I'm like, I'm. I'm down for it. I think I could see it making Cleveland sound cooler. Like, I could see if they want to lean into, like, oh, there's like, some mythical thing, like, and kind of,
Katie Nolan
like, come to Cleveland. Check out our two buildings. You know, one of those, like, hey,
Isabella
yeah, we got some culture over here.
Katie Nolan
There's a lady in the pond. Maybe she's singing songs t. She's gonna break up up your family.
Isabella
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
Or try to.
Isabella
Cool.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. All right. Other WNBA news. I just wanted to make sure we focus on real quick, not to get political. Do you see Hillary Clinton watching Ellie the elephant do what Ellie the elephant does?
Isabella
No, it didn't.
Katie Nolan
A video of Ellie doing the Ellie stomp where she, like, stands on her head and, like, puts her legs up in the air. And then the shout out to whoever was doing the camera work. They pan from Ellie over to the courtside seat, where you just see Hillary go.
Dan Soder
Going.
Brady
Huh?
Katie Nolan
Like, reacting. Experiencing Ellie the elephant for the first
Brady
time was very little sway going.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, it's very funny. She's. I hope you enjoyed it, Ms. Clinton. Mrs. Mrs. Clinton. Famously. Pretty fucking famously. So that's that. What else we got? Isabella, dig through that donut bag. Pull something else out for us.
Paul Soter
Let's see.
Isabella
What the hell?
Katie Nolan
Another.
Isabella
Another phone with another voicemail. This is crazy. This is Joel from Northern Virginia.
Dan Soder
Hey, Katie. And the casualties. It's Joel from Northern Virginia. Like Brady, I am a lifelong Orioles and Commanders fan. I have seen very few happy memories of either team in my lifetime. And. And a lot of my recent happy Oriole memories are Adley Rutchman specific. You know, Adley has had a lot of pressure on him as the kind of symbol in the face of a really tumultuous and hard rebuild. And he had a lot of pressure and everything that I know about Adley, from following the team and from having a lot of friends in Baltimore, anytime that anyone would see him around or would interact with him at fan events or whatever, he was always just really cool and really took it in stride. The pressure and the privilege of being the face of an organization, just really sad. So I guess all of this is just to say, think of us and treat Hadley well. I like Brady. I really hope that he succeeds wherever he is and wherever he goes. Just really sucks that that's not gonna be here.
Isabella
Oh, I'm sorry, Joel.
Katie Nolan
Joel, I'm really sorry to hear that now. I'm happy to hear it. Also, in a weird. I know that's a little tough to hold space for, but he is mine now, so I treat him well. I also heard he's really into. I think you should leave. He's like a big I think you should leave head, which is great. That's good. That's good to have in a, in a guy in the clubhouse. He is still hurt, but I hear he's swinging, so that's good. This was the trade we thought was going to happen when we were recording earlier this week from Brady's team, the Orioles. Adley Rutchman, the catcher, very well liked, very beloved figure, as Joel said, had a lot on his shoulders. Put on his shoulders by that fan base, the franchise, etc. He's now on the socks, pretty stoked on that.
Brady
I'm gonna root for him. I, I, you know, I, I like him. I like the stadium, the franchise, the mascot, you know, everything that goes with the Orioles. I like the, the organization, I like the team. I've rooted them for my whole life. But I, you know, if I come to like the players themselves, I'm gonna continue to root for the players themselves. So, like Red Sox, you gained a temporary fan. You got me on loan.
Katie Nolan
Well, what a time for it, too, because again, I'm, like, avoiding talking about it because I don't want to ruin it. But, yeah, Red Sox are doing something kind of crazy right now. You know, they're just, they just are. To quote Bill Simmons, they just are, you know.
Brady
Do you see how Adley heard about the trade?
Katie Nolan
Okay, yeah. So wasn't it that they had him and a bunch of his twin brothers from the Orioles had just gone to watch Spider Man?
Brady
Yeah. Adlee Gunner, Ryan Mountcastle and Colton Couser, you know, four Dudes pretty much look alike. They were on their way to go see Spider man, and Adley got the call and had to tell his boys, and they just didn't end up seeing the movie. They were too distraught.
Isabella
Oh, I didn't think about that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, because you're not gonna go sit watch Spider man, which I have.
Brady
Even if Adley's like. Even if Adley's like, you know, Sorry, guys, I got to go pack. I got to. I got to bail. I got to go. They. They didn't go see it without him. Solidarity, man.
Katie Nolan
It's really sad. That's really sad. I also. We'll get into all of this in the trade deadline stuff. Brady, I don't want to even. I saw you say, that's the second worst reason to not see Spider man this week. And then it just says fart. And I don't know what. This is.
Brady
A Spider man screening in Columbia, which looked relatively packed because it showed how many people were in the theater and then in the hallway evacuated after one of the audience members suffered from an extreme fart attack. I am quoting the newspaper here, and the newspaper is the New York Post. Hundreds of film fans were reportedly evacuated into the hallway and did not return.
Katie Nolan
Didn't return.
Brady
The fart wouldn't go away.
Katie Nolan
Whoa. That's so embarrassing.
Brady
Imagine clearing a theater.
Katie Nolan
That's so embarrassing.
Brady
Oh, counterpoint. Imagine having a theater all to yourself to watch Spider Man.
Katie Nolan
More Spider Man. Part of the plan.
Chris
Oh, part of the plan.
Katie Nolan
That's nuts. Did not return. Makes me go, what happened? What was really. What's the real story? What do you mean?
Isabella
All right.
Katie Nolan
Also, thinking about movies has me thinking about wicker. Isabella, have you seen any of the. Are we gonna see the basket penis? Is the question that the women on the Internet are asking. What's the point of making the guy out of wicker if we can't just show it, you know?
Jay Chandrasekhar
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
But then I saw what was supposed to be a leak of the. The trailer in another country. I don't remember where. I believe it might have been the uk, But I guess the foreign version of the trailer shows from far away. You sort of see there is a Wicker man thing, and it looked. I would hope he's a grower because he's certainly not a shower. So I don't want to be disappointed by the Wicker member, you know, But I do. You gotta imagine they're gonna show it. Right? It's not like that actor is nervous about showing. Doesn't he always show? Doesn't he always show up to an
Brady
Alexander Skarsgrd movie and you're like, it's
Katie Nolan
coming at some point and it is that Skarsgard. It's not a different scars guard. No, there's a lot of scars guards, Chris.
Brady
You know all the Skars guards and SARS guards, Right?
Steve Lemme
This is.
Brady
This is Alexander.
Chris
I think so they all blend into one for me.
Dan Soder
Damn.
Katie Nolan
That's our movie buff, Chris. No one's allowed to be an expert at anything here. Hey, I saw somebody put out a list of the top movies of all time, and Team America was like, way up there on it. Did you see that, Chris?
Eric Stolhanski
Huh?
Chris
We were just talking about Team America previously, and I said that from those guys, from Trey Parker, Matt Stone. That's probably one of my least favorites. But it's been a long time since I've seen it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And I've never seen it, but I. But I didn't know it was that well regarded. I'm. I feel very stupid. I like them. I just didn't. I've never. It missed me. That movie missed me.
Brady
I was singing the whole song about Michael Bay after. After we heard the Michael Bay softball story.
Katie Nolan
What an amazing Michael Bay softball story. That is my Michael Bay story that I always tell people that they may not know. He showed up to one of those conferences where you wear a Britney Spears mic and you come out and you have to give your little TED Talk. But the prompter didn't work. There's video of this online. It is one of the cringiest watches I think you could possibly watch. It's hard to. It's hard to get through. But the prompter's not working. So he starts. And then you see him sort of like it's. And I. It's not. Well, never mind. Then he looks down and then he just walks off the stage. He just is like. He just got there. It is time to talk. And he just goes, well, I. And then he just walks off. It's very like Ashley Simpson on snl. It was. It's brutal. But hey, at least he recruits athletes to help him win soccer ball.
Brady
Imagine going to a Michael Bay movie and they're like, it's going to be no cgi. It's only the storytelling. That's what you were getting from Michael Bay on the stage.
Katie Nolan
Fantastic. And that's exactly. That was pretty pointed, Brady. You're gonna have beef with Michael Bay. They're gonna write about it in the New York Post.
Brady
So all the Bay heads are coming.
Katie Nolan
Go find your social media.
Brady
The Bayhive.
Katie Nolan
The Bayhive. Do we have any? Isabelle, Is there anything else going on in the bag there?
Isabella
Let's see. Oh, cute postage stamp. I see an email from Tina. Okay, Chris, can you read it? Cause I don't like reading out loud sometimes. Hand it to him.
Katie Nolan
Hand it to him through the zoom. Hand it to your right.
Isabella
There you go.
Chris
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
Appreciate it.
Chris
So Tina writes in and says, hey, Katie. And the casualties. My name is Tina. I'm a Chicago Cubs fan living in Pittsburgh. I go see the Cubs whenever they come to town, but every time, without fail, they lose the game. I go to. I went to the 724 Cubs Pirates game and they were tied in the bottom of the ninth. I couldn't stay for the extra innings because I'm dog sitting. As soon as I left, the Cubs scored two runs and won the game. Do I have to stop going to baseball games?
Isabella
Yes.
Dan Soder
Yeah,
Isabella
unfortunately.
Katie Nolan
Just for now. Just until something changes, you know, just while we figure out what it is, you know? But yes, unfortunately, baseball especially, I find is very vibe dictated. It's very. And if the. If. If it's consistent, which it sounds like it is, to the point where, like, even when they're tied and you're at the game and then you leave and then they finally break through and get the win when it's consistent like that. Because sometimes you get people who are just. They're in their own head.
Isabella
Head.
Katie Nolan
Dan will do this with a team where he'll go, I'm going to root for the Bruins now. And I go, great. He'll watch one Bruins game and go, that was my fault. And I'm like, you're giving yourself too much credit, okay? They don't even know who you are yet. There's no way that your vibes are. But if every time you go to a game it's that specific, then yeah, I'm so sorry. Let me hold your hand as I say this, Tina. But yes, you. You have to chill for a little bit. Or, you know, you could go to a different game where you don't have a rooting. Like, if you want to go to baseball games, games, you can just don't go to Cubs games. You know, that's just not your. You should go to Pirates games because you won't have any sort of sway over that. So. But I do think, yeah, you got to stop going to Cubs games, at least for a little. We used to call my dad the cooler because he would famously do this with the Bruins. Now it was that he would get up from his seat and walk around and they would score a goal. And so he would just have to spend. He spent many a postseason and just walking around the inside of TD Garden in the, like, you know, concourse area because he was not allowed to be in his seat because it was bad luck. So I think that's the case, unfortunately.
Brady
This is your dad, according to the Internet. Christopher Nolan, right?
Katie Nolan
Yes, my father, Christopher Nolan, of his.
Isabella
He made a great movie.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I believe he just did Odyssey or something. I think it's. Yeah, it's pretty big. This is his debut, I believe, or something he's got a lot of. Anyway, that's my dad.
Brady
So that's my favorite development of the last week.
Katie Nolan
Same, same. My dad didn't like it so much, but that's because he's not Christopher Nolan. Chris, you were gonna say something.
Chris
Yeah. I used to be like that very much when I was younger, when I was like, 10, 11, 12. I would be really superstitious about, you know, if I left the room and something happened or if I'm sitting in a certain spot on the couch and we win, I'd have to sit in that same spot. But after Carlton will complete for an entire decade, I realized that there was absolutely nothing I could do to make them better. So I don't have any superstitions anymore because I'm like, well, they just always suck.
Katie Nolan
That's kind of gorgeous. That's actually kind of beautiful where you go, this team's so bad, it couldn't possibly be my fault.
Chris
I can't impact anything. I've tried. I've tried many different things. Doesn't really work.
Katie Nolan
And the problem for me is that it does work. It always does work. The time that I was watching Liverpool and it was like a close game and I. It was the last. It was like a corner kick at the end of the game against Tottenham, and I closed my eyes. Because anytime I had watched them that season since I got my tickets to go see them, any game I watched, they lost. Any game I didn't watch, they won. And so I'm at this game, it's tied, and I'm like, God. And it's this last. So I just closed my eyes. They scored and it was technically an own goal. But originally they credit it to Mo Salah, who was my favorite player at the time, by the way. Did you see that? Mo decided where he's going to go.
Brady
Is it the Turkish League?
Katie Nolan
I don't remember the name of the team off the top of my head. And even If I did have it here in front of me, I don't think I would pronounce it right. But Mo chose a team in Turkey, so he's not coming to mls. I know we really thought. Thought that he was gonna. But not yet at least. I think it's a two year deal, I believe is what I saw for Mo, which, you know, it is kind of interesting. Soccer is like such an international. Like, this was genuinely like any league that wanted him could bid for him. I know they have to like buy their rights and then also pay the player, which is kind of confusing for anyone who's not a big soccer fan. But, you know, shout out to Mo. We love you, Mo. I guess, thank God I don't have to move to Kansas City. And then while we're talking soccer, just really quickly, did anyone see the new season of Ted Lasso is out and it's about Whit Women's soccer.
Brady
I'm gonna go watch.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I didn't. I never watched any of the first of it, so it's not gonna be me. But I do have an interest in women's soccer, so I'd like somebody to watch it for me and then let me know if it's awesome or if it's. Thank you.
Jay Chandrasekhar
I got it.
Chris
I.
Brady
What I mean, I love it. I think the whole series is so well written. Like, I'm a sucker for the Bill Lawrence shows. And from the previews of it, it looks like they did not. I don't know what you call straight wash women's soccer. Like it, you know, looks like a very, very honest look at the league.
Katie Nolan
Brady says it's gay. Are you saying. Trying to say that it's gay?
Brady
What's the right way to say I don't know. This show looks appropriately gay?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I think it's like accurately represent just gay enough is tough. I don't know if I would say that. I don't know if I would say just gay enough. But it's. We're learning, right?
Brady
They're not like, let's make everybody in this league gay.
Katie Nolan
Right, right, right.
Brady
Feels like very. Yeah. Okay.
Katie Nolan
They sprinkled in a couple straights, I think is the way you're supposed to say it. I don't know. We're all learning. Learning. All right, so we'll be watching that. And by we, I mean the boys. And you'll just let us know. I saw them do a rollout with a bunch of the nwsl, like partnerships with the teams and stuff. And that made me go like, oh, I didn't realize they were doing a women's team this season, so we'll see how that goes. Just wanted to put it on everybody's radar. And then I think, do we have time for one more? Technically, probably no, but she's already digging into the bag.
Isabella
Chris. Hold on. Wait, I'm gonna hand this to you. This is Kristen. It's an email.
Chris
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
Good job, guys.
Dan Soder
Love that.
Chris
All right, so Kristen writes in and says, hi, Katie. I admire your bravery and need your advice.
Katie Nolan
Oh, what? This could be going anywhere.
Chris
This is a crazy story, but it actually happened to me. I have struggled with IBS since I was 18. Monday morning, I had my most humiliating moment ever.
Katie Nolan
Oh, no.
Chris
I pooped in my pants in the middle of a packed subway. My worst nightmare.
Isabella
Oh, no.
Chris
A boy announced to the crowd, oh, no. She had a bowel movement. It wasn't a choice, pal.
Isabella
I'm sorry.
Katie Nolan
A boy. Which means there's a child. And the child said, bowel movement.
Chris
Bowel movement.
Isabella
Okay.
Chris
His mum smiled at me and said, at a time like this, you need to stay calm. Easy for her to say. I'm the person sitting in a load of you know what. Then I noticed a cop staring at me.
Isabella
Oh, God.
Chris
Is he going to arrest me for will I be on the news? Is this disorderly conduct? Help. I started to have a panic attack. A guy took pity on me. My name is Mark. My stop is next. I live right next to the corner. You can get cleaned up if you want compassion. I will spare you all the gross details, but soon as I was clear in my rear.
Katie Nolan
Holy cow.
Chris
Wearing a pair of his sweatpants, I was worried about going with this stranger. But he was a true gentleman, and he respected my privacy and my dignity. Plus, what damn choice did I have?
Katie Nolan
Very true.
Chris
He just texted me and asked me out. Should I say yes?
Katie Nolan
I'm sorry. What the fuck is going on here? This is such an email that I'm going like, are we being pranked? There's such emotional stakes to this. From the child exclaiming bowel movement to the mother saying, in times like this, we must practice calm. And the cop. For a minute, I was like, is she gonna get arrested? Then just a strange man on the subway going, I am calm. This is my stop. Please come get cleaned up at my house.
Isabella
And here's my sweatpants.
Katie Nolan
And now he's like, you wanna go out?
Isabella
I mean, if you get good vibes and if you want to, and it's in a public place like a coffee shop or something.
Katie Nolan
I'm gonna take this at coffee
Isabella
if
Katie Nolan
we're taking this at face value. Right. Because I can't live in a world where I have to worry if an email's made up. I'm taking her at her word. Okay.
Chris
Don't let the truth get in the way of a good story. Yeah.
Isabella
Right.
Katie Nolan
And I would say, Kristin, yeah. I do think you go on a date with him because he's seen you at your worst.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
He saw you at your worst. He experienced. He encountered you for the first time at a moment you would say. I believe you did say is your worst. Your most humiliating moment ever. Your worst nightmare. You met this man, and he showed you kindness. He helped you. He offered a helping hand, and he's still interested. So the worst thing that could happen was not enough to scare him away. Maybe it. Maybe you go on a date and you end up not being a match, but, like, you might as well try. At least he didn't. He also knew not to ask you while you were at his house showering up and getting your rear clear, because that's crazy. You come out of the toilet and you're like, you know, you come out of the bathroom with, like, you're drying your hair off with his towel, and he's like, you want to go on a date sometime? And now you're feeling, I'm at your house. I don't know you. I could be in danger. He waited till you left, and he.
Isabella
Yeah.
Chris
Ew.
Katie Nolan
Ew. Then you find out it's.
Steve Lemme
That's.
Katie Nolan
He's into that. Actually, that's. I think, the only possible danger of going on the. Is if he goes. Hell, yeah. A constant stream of it. That's what I need. She'll be ready to go anywhere, anytime. So that's the only thing I would make sure you check that down. Date one. I would go, like, now. And maybe he's into it and you're into it. So again, we don't kink shame on this podcast if that happens to be your thing. But if it's not your thing, and I bet if you have ibs, it's not. Just make sure that's not his thing. Is that fair? That seems fair. Make sure this wasn't him going, oh, hell, yeah. Oh, I can work with this, ma'. Am. I live around, and I would be honored to take you back to mine. Shout out, Mark. Shout out, Mark.
Eric Stolhanski
Shout out.
Katie Nolan
Strangers that show compassion. There's. That's really beautiful. I also. This email has me thinking, Kristen is smoking hot. I don't know, my takeaway from this is like, Kristen must look like she's one of those girls that's like, oh, I don't really wear makeup, but is just stunning all the time. That's just how I'm gonna remember you in my mind, Kristen. So I think, yes, you should say yes. But also, as Isabella said in public and check down all the possible you meet a stranger. You never know who that is. So just whatever. But I think, yeah, be open to love.
Chris
So that email was sent in on Saturday.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Chris
On Monday, we got a follow up from Kristen.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Chris
And Kristen writes, well, I went on a date and had a wonderful time. He's such a nice guy. It was much more relaxed than the typical first date. I guess when you lived through that situation together, there is nothing to get embarrassed about. Have a great week.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God. This is absolutely beautiful. And again, if I'm being pranked, I'll be upset because I was having a hard time having faith in humanity today. And this really was a nice note to I think end on date.
Brady
Number one is low stress when you've already had number two.
Katie Nolan
Wow, Brady. Beautiful. Wow, Brady.
Chris
I liked it.
Jay Chandrasekhar
It's everybody.
Katie Nolan
Wow.
Jay Chandrasekhar
Wow.
Katie Nolan

Isabella
