It was very cool when my worlds collided watching Jeopardy, Watching this woman win. And then during her interview she talked about what a big Gotham FC fan she was and I was like let's go NWSL visibility. So I love that shout out Sarah Gillis. And I'm really sorry that it was only a one day but you were very smart. You're a very smart woman. Other piece of housekeeping that Brady's like, I thought this is what you were going to say. And I'm a big person for not canceling a sports appearance. Cause I was at that game with Stavi and that's top Two worst in person sports experiences of my life.

Yeah. A Knicks fan, obviously, we should say for people. And Stavros also had to do this on this exact podcast because we booked him. And then the Ravens lost. Look, at first I was like, we can't. I don't want to talk to Sam Morrill right after the Knicks eliminate the Celtics. But then this happened and I said, I would love to talk to Sam Morrill the day after this happened.

We. They did to us what we did to you.

Well, kind of.

You guys gave up two pretty big leads.

What we want to talk about last night is that the Indiana Pacers took game one of the Eastern Conference Finals 138 to 135 in overtime against the Knicks after a stunning come from behind victory. They were down 14 with under three minutes to go. They were down nine in the final minute.

[Brady]

It was like a diddy party. The first half was great. And then right at the end you're like, this is messed up. Children are crying. It's bad.

[Katy Nolan]

Is that the first half of a diddy party is great?

[Brady]

I think it would be, yeah. For who? It's like celeb, bro. I think. I think you get all the big stars and you're like, this is cool. And then the people that stay, it's bad.

Yeah, that's his opinion, not mine. Walk me through the experience for you.

[Brady]

I have video footage of Stavi and I screaming like, so excited.

Stavros is a.

He's a Knicks fan because of me. Well, he's from Baltimore, so he couldn't be a Wizards fan. And he's lucky for that.

But yeah, you can't be a Baltimore guy rooting for Washington sports. So he kind of was like, I'm a Giannis fan cause I'm green.

I remember that.

But.

But he received.

The next year I had a short lived show on msg, an after hours show on msg Shout out. And Stav was the. This is the Knicks network, if you don't know. And Stav was like the writer, huh? So it was me and Stav.

[Katy Nolan]

So he's like, well, vertoast in the Knicks.

[Brady]

Yeah, and he got into the Knicks cause he saw how psychotic a fan I was. Because you know, you're working for the team, so you can't be like honest.

[Katy Nolan]

Right?

[Brady]

So they'd sign Tim Hardaway to a four year deal and I'd be like, this is terrible. And they'd be like, we can't air that, you know, he's bad, you know? But he'd see me go nuts for, like, Enes Cantor. He's like, this guy's, like, a real fan. So I think my fandom was contagious, and he got into it. And we were actually at the game together. Stav and I have good and bad. It's either the best game or the worst game. We were at the game where Kristof Sporzingis tours acl.

Oh, okay.

[Brady]

Yeah. And I remember me, Stav and Michael Che got blackout drunk after. It was a bad night. It was like. And I broke the news to Michael Che, and he was like. He was like, screw you. And I was like. I just heard someone say it. I'm not like the New York Post. And then we were at game six, where they beat the Celtics. That was a joyful game. But then we were at this game. It's either the highest of highs or the lowest of lows.

Do you drink during the game?

[Brady]

I didn't last night. I had had a couple drinks. I drink on my podcast, so I'd had a couple martinis before, but no, it depends who I'm with. If I'm with my brother, I'll drink. If I'm with someone who's drinking, I'll drink. I try to match the energy.

[Katy Nolan]

That makes sense.

[Brady]

Stav doesn't really drink, so I was on coffee pretty much.

[Katy Nolan]

And so you were wide awake to watch that happen.

[Brady]

It sucked. It really, really. And you know what's crazy? My lawyer was in our section, and I love my lawyer. He's the man. He's a psychotic Knicks fan. He's at every game with his kid. And if we weren't already friends, I would have fired him. Cause he left early.

[Brady]

Like, 50 seconds in regulation. He said, I know what's coming, and I don't want to be here for it.

Which I kind of get.

He was protecting his son, I guess.

So you have to feel. I mean, I was at the. I was in all the way up in, like, the last with my dad, when Ewing missed the finger roll.

I was so. That was another Pacer. So that's why I say top two worst fan moments. Ewing miss it I was probably 10 years old and I just, I remember the moment of just shriek crying dad having to carry me over his shoulder out. And it's like I saw a new generation of that born last night of little Knicks fans in their Brunson and Josh Hart jerseys. Just like, ah, like this isn't supposed to happen. I'm like, this is part of being a fan. You don't get the highs without the lows. I still think we can win the series. I still, I still believe in just having Jalen Brunson makes me believe in this team. And like, you know, we made a lot of mistakes down the. You can't do that.

What was it like? For me, there's a photo of Stav and I that someone just tagged us in leaving game six when we beat the Celtics. And Stav's like this, and I'm just like, we're, like, so happy. We look like we're like, you know, we're just, like, just experiencing the greatest feeling ever. And then last night, someone went up to Stav and was like, joe Flacco. And Stav just looked angrily at him. He's like, read the room. But then what the real fans do is that, you know, they're, like, brutal, and you're like, brutal, and you fist bump and you move on. But we were in a rough section. There was a lot of. Here's the problem with just modern sports is now with the playoffs, you've priced out a Lot of the real fans. So, you know, I have a friend like Stav, who's a psycho fan enough. Like, we've done well in the last couple years, so we could be like, I wasn't gonna go to the game, but, you know. Cause I'm not gonna go solo. But then Stav's like, let's fucking go. And I was like, let's go. And then midway through the 4th, I'm like, man, I'm really glad I spent this absurd amount of money on a ticket. And then at the end, you're like, I can't believe I spent that much money to feel terrible.

Because to me, that incentivizes or, like, allows teams to price out real fans. I hate that because they show the real fans outside. It's like, the real fans should be inside. They should be able to afford to go inside. And if the energy inside sucks because it's all finance bros. And then they cut to a shot of like, here's the fans outside.

So she was like, oh, my God, that was the coolest team ever. And then she was a huge fan of the 90s, and she kind of. She fell. She was kind of like, you know, kind of a casual the last 20 years. And now she's back in.

I was rooting for Denver. I wanted a. I wanted a Denver Knicks. I think the Knicks match up well with Denver.

In the regular season, we always play them really well. I know the playoffs are different, but, like, also, I just love watching Jokic.

He's so. It's so fun to watch him play.

Yeah. I mean, I'm sure there's some truth to that. Like, you know, you don't want to get comfy.

And I had friends who were so hardworking that they would make. They would never judge me, but they would make me feel like a piece of shit by how hard they would work. But it also feels like if you stop, if you don't have that inside of you, you would not have a. It just, like, it can go away. You have to keep getting up.

Well, I've seen people get rusty. I've go to, like, writers rooms, and then they come back. I'm like, this guy's fucking weak now. What the hell? Yeah, this is bad. So I think you have to. But then I think that's how the great players are. Like, I. I see the way Brunson responds to a loss, and it gives me hope that we'll be all right, because that guy's so self aware. Like, there was A game against the Pistons where Brunson shot. I think it was game two. He shot too much down the stretch, and he was aware of it, and he adjusted and got everyone going the next game. It's stuff like that, I think, like. Like, it's not just the practicing. It's like studying game tape. And to me, that was like, you know, watching specials, watching, like, Richard Pryor growing up, watching Chris Rock, Dave Attell, like, Louis, all the comics. I was like, oh, you should know these people. So you gotta. I always appreciated the players. I remember talking to Walt Clyde Frazier once, like, years ago, interviewing him. And of course, they cut out all my good questions, of course, and cut it down to, like, we're gonna do.

I remember being like, dude, you were ruminating with Phil Jackson. And they cut that. I'm like, that's so interesting that they were roommates together. And he looked, like, shocked that I knew all this stuff. I'm like, dude, I've read all those old books about the Knicks, I love.

But they probably left in you being like, what does basketball mean to you?

No, they left in being like. So you use a lot of big words during the broadcast, you know, But Walt, he's so cool, and he's such a genuine good guy. And I remember asking him, like, do the young guys ever ask for advice? And he goes, never. And I thought that was so weird. Like, you have this living legend here. You're not gonna pick his brain. Like, if I'm talking to one of the great comics ever, I'm not going to be like, can I pick your brain? But I'm going to, like, I'm going to soak shit up. I'm just going to be in their presence, like, oh, I. Oh, Chris Rock's talking. I'm going to shut the fuck up and listen and absorb this. Because, you know, so I was. I said, that's. That blows me away.

And granted, we were a bad team at that time. You can tell Brunson and Hart and these guys have so much reverence for Walt, and it means something to him, and it means something to the culture. I think you have to. You have to have that love of history or like, what are you doing? Like, it's a lack of respect if you don't, I think, for what you do.

Oh, yeah. For the players. I was just thinking of it. I always try to think everything in terms of who we're trying to get to listen to this, which is a Casual fan. And I. I always try to make them feel better about, like, you don't have to know everything about a team to root for them, but you're talking about players.

It's like, you know, we wasted Odell Beckham. We waste Saquon Barkley. Like, we wasted all these talents. And the Daniel Jones era was not great.

Do you still watch every Sunday, though, even when they suck?

I watch for, like, a quarter, and then I can't take it. It's like. It's just torture. It's like, why I. I watch them? Like, why am I watching this? This is just like. It's like 34 to 3. It's not even like, if there was hope, if it was like, we were bad, but there was, like, hope every game. Yeah, but I don't want to watch a blood. Daniel Jones. My friend's a bartender at the Cellar, and he's like, daniel Jones is here. Do you want to meet him? And I was like, I'm good, actually.

I never thought I would get there.

I can't be honest. And so I kind of don't want to because I. Otherwise, I'd have to go like, yeah, I'm a Giants fan. I don't, like. I didn't. I didn't like you.

I can't shake his hand and be like, good job.

Yeah.

No, I can't. I mean, it was so. I was like, that's one of those.

And he seems like a really nice guy, too. That's the thing that, like, I. I wanted to like him. And he had that one playoff game where I was like, is he fucking good?

Yeah. And he. He just. Yeah. It bums me out when every coach is like, he's the man. He's awesome. The players seem to love him. It just didn't work.

But I wish him the best. I hope. Which is what Trump said about Jalaine Maxwell. So I don't know how.

I mean, what. I wish him the best. He said, I wish her well or something. But, no, I. I hope he. I hope he gets a shot somewhere. Because I, I, I I would love to see him do well. He seemed like a good dude. But you know what? He's worth like 140 million.

The. The big story from the tush push was that they made like a big speech. Jeffrey Lurie made a big speech. It was like an hour long at these meetings, ratings basically trying to argue for the tush push. And in the end he said it's a win win for the Eagles because it's like a wet dream for a teenage boy to create a play that's so successful that the only way for it to be stopped is for it.

And that killed Jimmy. Or say that comment it was too.

It was like, that's the gross.

Do you feel like creating the tush push is like a wet. I mean because I was never a teenager, I try as I might and do you feel like that is a good analogy? Because I don't.

Yeah, I used to picture like a dude that looked like Jalen Hurts getting pushed. And then I would just, I would come all over myself. Yeah, pretty crazy.

Yeah, totally.

No, I don't know what the hell he's talking about.

It just feels like one of those things where you're like, you wanted to get up there and talk about come.

And then you did.

They have to help. Roads lead to cum. Troy Vincent, who who's the EVP of football operations for all of the NFL got on stage and was like, you shouldn't have. Why did you say that?

Basically. And then this I think is my favorite story. The Enhanced Games are coming in May of 2026. A new company hoping to infuse unprecedented levels of science, money and performance enhancing drugs into Olympic style sport. It's basically Olympics with drugs. They're doing an Olympics, all PED Olympics.

[Brady]

That's kind of cool.

[Katy Nolan]

Kind of. They're holding their first formal competition. They've announced it is May 26, May 2026 in Las Vegas.

[Brady]

Of course it's in Vegas, of course, where everything's fake.

[Katy Nolan]

They're gonna host it in exactly one year, its first annual competition. Athletes will be allowed, if not outright encouraged, to use PEDs like steroids, testosterone and growth hormone that are typically legal to possess but banned in sports. They say they hope to remove the stick stigma of using these Substances, stigma of cheating, and promote safer ways to push the limits of human performance.

[Brady]

So it's not like steroids, it's like, natural.

[Katy Nolan]

No, it's steroids.

[Brady]

Oh, okay.

[Katy Nolan]

Ped is like steroids, testosterone and growth hormone.

[Brady]

Oh, yeah. So that's like. Okay. I mean, we tried this in the 90s. It was awesome.

[Katy Nolan]

I mean.

[Brady]

I mean, Bonds hitting those bombs, that was fun as hell. Right, but how do you feel about that?

[Katy Nolan]

I don't know. So there's. They said it's an effort to create superhumanity. They're trying to be superhuman. I get it. I get the quote was, we are here to move humanity forward. The old rules didn't just hold back athletes, they held back humanity. I like that he's speaking about it in past tense. Aren't still around.

[Brady]

Also, it's like, we're not landing on the moon, we're sticking a needle in your ass.

[Katy Nolan]

Right. But I get it. I guess if I had to, I get it in the sense of, like. Like, we'll never know what humans could do if we let them do these drugs. We'll never know just how fast you could really go.

[Brady]

But don't so many of these dudes just die?

[Katy Nolan]

Yes.

I mean, that's the thing is, like, I. I watched a lot of pro wrestling growing up, and then like, you're just like, oh, everyone's dead at 49.

[Katy Nolan]

I know. And like, the. Their muscles are all bulgy. It's like a.

[Brady]

You ever see that documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster?

[Katy Nolan]

No.

[Brady]

It's really good. It's Big A about this guy who used to do steroids and his brother was a pro wrestler and he died. And it's like, it's really well made, but it's about the obsession with being. It's like it was made like 20 years ago or something. But it's like everything is still so true. And even then you're like, what? And that was at a time that seemed like people were less obsessed with. Now everyone's so obsessed with fitness, or at least it seems that way.

[Katy Nolan]

It also seems like in recent years, anybody caught with, like, performance enhancing drugs, it was mostly recovery stuff.

[Brady]

Yeah.

[Katy Nolan]

Like, it was like, something to help you recover so you could get back to playing right away. This feels like. Not that this isn't like, we want to let them take stuff that helps them. They're like, we want them to inject themselves and turn into super people and compete in. I think the three events are swimming, track and field, and I think the third one was wrestling. But it's like, there's plenty of PEDs in wrestling.

[Brady]

Yeah, it's. I, I. The weird thing about in baseball when they were doing is, like, most of those guys were it. You're saying, like, for recovery. And I get. Was it. Andy Pettic got in trouble for recovery.

[Katy Nolan]

I feel like a rod might, too, have been related to recovery.

[Brady]

But a lot of those guys did it at their peak. It's not like they were, like, 40 and trying to stay in baseball. A lot of them were, like, you know, at their best. And just. That was kind of weird to me. Like, this is. You're already. This is. It's all downhill from here.

[Katy Nolan]

Yeah.

But. Yeah. I don't know. I. It doesn't. It doesn't sound like something that interests me that much.

No. But, I mean, I'd watch. I'll probably watch it.

You feel like you probably have to watch everything for sports just because I used to.

[Katy Nolan]

I used to feel that way, and it was very stress. Now I, like, enjoy doing it. Now I'm like, oh, let me watch the college softball World Series. Not because I have to, like, watch it as homework, but because I'm interested in it as a game and somebody might care about it and we can talk about it. So, like, this is the most. I'm right now having the most fun watching the most sports that I've ever watched.

[Brady]

Yeah, that's cool.

[Katy Nolan]

And then. Okay, our last story. There's a. So the Rockies, Colorado Rockies baseball team. They are 8 and 41.

[Brady]

Yeah. I feel like they've never been good in my life. Life.

[Katy Nolan]

Have they? I feel like when we were younger, didn't they have, like, a good season? Brady would normally jump in.

[Brady]

They always had a sick offense, but their pitching was never good in my lifetime. I feel like I remember growing up and they had, like, Larry Walker and that guy was unreal. And Andre Galarraga and Bashet and Vinny Castillo and Ellis Burks. They were just all guys who could hit bombs, but then their pitchers just always sucked.

[Katy Nolan]

And they're also. Their stadium certainly doesn't help with that because it's just 2007 World Series.

[Brady]

They got swept out by the Red Sox. It's pretty much the best. Wow. I forgot they made the.

[Katy Nolan]

I forgot about that, too. And I'm a Red Sox fan.

[Brady]

Wow.

[Katy Nolan]

I'll sit with that. But this. So they're the fastest team to 41 losses since 1895. A man, a fan of the team, is suing them for negligence because he was Struck in the face with a foul ball while sitting in a Coors Field luxury box. And he's blaming the team's poor performance. It says defendants long standing. Poor performance on the field has contributed to a game day environment in which spectators, particularly those in luxury suites, are less engaged with the action on the field.

[Brady]

That's a hilarious thing because like, you suck so bad, you're injuring your fans.

[Katy Nolan]

Yeah, I'm not watching because of how bad you are. And because I'm not watching, I'm getting hit with a ball.

[Brady]

Honestly, I never thought I'd side with a person like this. But it's not a horrible point because you're so disengaged by how shitty they are that you're like, I'm just gonna fucking have a conversation or look at my phone. And then you get belted in the face.

[Katy Nolan]

Yeah. And being like, hey, I paid all this money. I'm in the luxury suites, I'm here for an expensive price and you're not giving me my money's worth. So I'm like playing on my phone.

Yes.

And then I'm getting hit in the. You're just basically inviting me in to hit me in the face.

I was at a game with a Yankees game once and a friend of mine got hit in the head. Mike L. Mike Lowell hit a line drive is when he played for the Yankees. Michael hit a line drive, hit one of the poles holes and hit him in the head. And we were. My friends were like, oh, we were like, we gotta. I guess we gotta take him to the hospital. It sucks.

[Brady]

Yeah, we had to go to like the. In stadium hospital and he had like a concussion or something.

[Katy Nolan]

Did they give you anything?

[Brady]

I don't remember.

I feel like now they would be like, meet, come meet the players. We're so sorry that you got bonked.

[Brady]

No, I think they were just like, this pussy didn't even put his glove up. We were young enough. We had gloves.

That sucks. I reached up once to try to catch a. It must have deflected off of something. Cause there's no chance I'd be barehanding a actual hit. But I think it bounced off of something and I reached up to grab it and I punched my friend in the face by accident, trying to get it. And it was on the Jumbotron. So everybody just sees me, me punch. She's like, oh. And then her nose started bleeding, and.

I wish there was footage.

Pretty brutal. That's my ball catching experience.
