Hello! It's the podcast that didn't go to high school with Lil' Dicky but now knows that you probably did. On today's show, Katie and the Casualties dig into listener feedback on Tom Brady conspiracy theories and hometown white rappers, and then get into Kai Trump's official LPGA debut, finishing last at The Annika, and whether it was worth it for the tour, the upcoming intersection of hockey and smutty fiction fandoms, Gotham FC advancing to the NWSL final on ANOTHER shocking finish, Midge Purce and the curse of infinite aura, Trinity Rodman's future, Marta's career, Jack Hughes' injury in the NHL and whether we believe pro athletes are THAT clumsy, duck crocs in Anaheim, the NFL's new reality TV star altcast, Mike McDaniel opting not to win in Madrid and still winning, Shedeur Sanders correctly declaring "I don't think I played good", Shohei Ohtani winning a fourth MVP, Cal Raleigh not winning a first, a wonderful round of "Should I Have Said That Out Loud?" with Tua Tagavailoa, ...

Hey, Isabella, did you see I have like a couple scary AI headlines to toss at you? Did you see they're letting waymos go on the highway now? Yes, Yes, I did. And how do we feel about that? I don't know. I'm scared for. I'm scared for the ones that specifically because don't they do basically like uber too? Like they will. I think so. Deliver people. These are not in New York. I don't think we're doing Waymos here. No, I've never seen. I've seen a lot of them in San Francisco, which is scary. Yeah, I don't know. Is that. Are we. Am I being bigoted when I say I don't want to. I don't want one of those to drive me around. Is that bad? Like, am I. Should I be reevaluating that? But I don't want one of those driving me around. I mean, I guess the one plus side is that if you're going to be, like, a backseat driver in one of those you don't have, no one's receiving your rage, right? You're yelling at nobody. And same thing with, like, road rage. It's like, if I want to yell at a driver and then I look and there's no driver there. It's like, I know. I'm like, there's, like, no one there, so I'm just going to flip this whole car off. That's fine by me. Hello. Ooh. She didn't yell that bad. She didn't yell that bad because she's not sure how to modulate the volume on this microphone. Welcome to Casuals, the sports podcast that gets a little distracted sometimes, but mostly gets you informed on all the sports, at least the stuff you need to know. And we do it without boring you. Or at least that's the goal. You let us know if we don't live up to that. Our email is CasualSWithKatieNolanmail.com, our voicemail 646-801-0043. And on IG and TikTok, we are casual. As the podcast, we're not hiding from you. Send your feedback. When I say we, I mean me. Katie Nolan. Hi. I'm the host. And then I've brought my casualties, the production crew that helps me make this here podcast. We have our sports newbie, Isabella. Hi. Our master editor, Chris.
Chris
Hey. I like it.
Brady
I think I've been saying that every week. And Brady, listen, I called you the guy who knows everything one time in that same episode I'm pretty sure is the time you said a WNBA game went a different way than it actually went. And so I don't know what to call you anymore. You were my expert, but I can't. I don't feel confident. So what do you want to be?
Katie Nolan
I just want to be appreciated.
Brady
Brady's appreciated. And then we have appreciated Brady. Appreciate it. Say hi.
Katie Nolan
Hello.
Brady
That's him. Okay, we've got a lot to get to. Is there ever a show where I go? Not much today. Not much to say. No. We have a ton of things to get to. I would like to start by checking our mailbox, seeing if we have any mail. Then I'm gonna. Then we're gonna It's a half yap today. Can I tease a yap that's coming soon? I think we've got a collision course happening in the NHL right now between fandoms. There is a romance novel, a book, a TV show being made about a hockey based gay romance novel. And those fans are on a collision course with NHL fans in a big way. I've been watching it kind of fester but blow up a bit online over the last few and I'm just kind of dig. Gonna dig through all of that and then hopefully unpack it for you guys. Hopefully this week. But it's just something fascinating I'm keeping my eyes on. As for today, it's a half yap. It's gonna be guest participation. I mean producer participation. Cuz it's just. It's about Kai Trump and her debut in the lp. And then we've got NFL action, we've got MLB awards because we haven't talked to you guys since then and a bunch of other things in between. Does that sound good with everybody? Great. Let's start with some mail. Do we have anything, Chris?
Chris
Yes, the first email that we got is from Jackie. Jackie says, hi, Katie and the casualties. I loved Brady's conspiracy theory segment, but I feel you missed a really important new one. That Drake May is actually a clone of Tom Brady. People are really going down the rabbit hole on this one and I'd love to know everyone's thoughts. Do we have another 20 years of excellence coming up? Let's go pates. Love you, mean it, Jackie.
Brady
Oh Jackie. Love you. Mean it. How have I missed this? Looks like. Because I don't. Yeah, I mean he's. Yeah, he could be. Listen, it's funny because it says went viral but debunked as stemming from a fake post. No shit. What do you mean? Of course it was a fake post. I guess there was a fake post that said that Tom Brady once clone owned his DNA when he. What was this? The post. 23, 28 years ago.
Chris
23 years ago, North Carolina. In North Carolina, he stored his DNA and Drake May born 23 years ago.
Brady
Sure.
Chris
In North Carolina.
Brady
Yes. I.
Chris
Not true. But also. Also could be true. Still.
Brady
I thought they said he stored his DNA. Cloned his DNA when he was 23.
Katie Nolan
I feel like he stored his DNA a lot of places.
Brady
Oh Jesus. Brady.
Chris
What?
Brady
I actually don't think he did. I can't. I'm just not. I can't. See, this is why I ask you not to do this because now I'm going. Do you think Tom Brady fucks? I don't know that. He does. I don't know how he's doing.
Katie Nolan
He does, but there's a lot of rules.
Brady
Yeah. Oh, please, stay focused. This was Brady's fault. And we don't objectify athletes here. I thought they were trying to say that when he was 23, he cloned his DNA. And look, Drake May is 23. And you go like. Well, you don't just. He doesn't just become you. You have to. He's birthed. And then he. Yeah, of course. No shit. It's fake. Yeah, I think it's, of course, very real.
Chris
I think also first place Bates, they're still dominating.
Brady
I mean, still going great on a streak like we haven't seen since we were making the playoffs. So feeling good about the pates? Afraid to say that. Afraid to say that because any sports fan knows the second you go feeling good about my team, something, you know, so. Feeling good. I'm feeling good. I'm also feeling alarmed about how many Gay for May shirts I'm seeing. How much different merch I'm seeing just is like, okay, but fine, whatever. Welcome and congrats.
Katie Nolan
And go for stylized, like, Master P album covers. Like, they're very like.
Brady
That brings up a very specific aesthetic for all of that type of those. All those rap albums were. Okay, cool. So, yeah, I think that's real. And that gets the casual stamp of approval. That's definitely real. Drake May is a clone. And if you're asking me how it feels to be rooting for the team with the very first known cloned quarterback. Feels good. Feels so good. I don't know what to do with myself. We rule and you all drool.
Chris
Next, we got a couple of emails about your segment from Segment of Palooza about white rappers from your high school.
Brady
This is what I was hoping for. Yeah, really hoping to hear from them all.
Chris
We got one from Andrew who said, hey, Katie and the Casualties. I started listening to the podcast after Katie went on we're here to help. And you've quickly become one of my favorite podcasts. I grew up in a rural town in Michigan with a population of about 11,000 people and not one, not two, but six white high school rappers.
Brady
Damn. Oh, my God. Holy shit. Oh, my God. It's an infestation.
Chris
They amicably formed a rap group called Knuckle Deep.
Brady
Oh, my God.
Chris
And Knuckle up self published an album titled Secretions.
Brady
What is going on?
Katie Nolan
Wait.
Chris
I do, however.
Brady
Knuckle Deep. Secretions.
Chris
I do, however. Remember a few lines from some of their songs. This is the one I want to point out to you. Came out of the womb with a 3 inch penis. Look at me now. I'm a lyrical genius. Flo's hitting harder than Serena and Venus.
Brady
Okay, wait a second. Okay, wait.
Chris
Pretty good. Pretty good.
Brady
Okay, wait a second. Came out the woman with a 3 inch penis. That feels big. I don't know. Sorry. I don't know anything. Okay. Is that the end of the email or. No?
Chris
Yeah. I just wanted to say thank you for putting together great shows twice a week and getting me into baseball in time to enjoy the MLB World Series this year. It was an insane series and I doubt I would have watched it if it hadn't been for your podcast.
Brady
Love you, Mina. Oh, Andrew. Love you, Mina. What a blessing that is. Imagine we got to give somebody that World Series. What a fun World Series. Hell yeah. That makes us feel. Yeah. Good for us. Now back to what you said before. This is. This has to be the Eminem effect, right, to have in Detroit 6. I mean, not Detroit. He said rural town in Michigan, but in my head it's like, Michigan. My sister in law's from Michigan. And I always say whenever I introduce her to people, I say she's from 8 mile. And she's like, I'm from nowhere near 8 mile. It's not anywhere close to it, but that has to be knuckle deep. Wow.
Chris
Six of them.
Brady
Six? Well, that's. And what's wrong with your hand? What are you. AI. There should only be five of you and you should each be named something punny after various fingers. You know what I mean?
Chris
That's a good point.
Brady
Right? Have a commit to the theme. How dare. All right. And then. Do we have any more?
Chris
We do. We got one from Ed who said, hey, Katie and the Casualties. I was listening to the segment of Palooza and you guys were talking about a subject I know a lot about white rappers you went to high school with. I think I have the big joker when it comes to this category. Being that I graduated with the famous Trojan and Buzzball spokesman Lil Dicky. I wouldn't say I was friends with him.
Brady
I didn't. I've seen him. Buffalo Wild Wings.
Katie Nolan
That's the big one.
Brady
Buffalo Wild Winging it. I haven't seen him. I'm in an ad with Lil Dicky. Technically, there's an old ad for Madden for one of the Maddens that he was. We're not in the same room. No one's in these commercials in the same room anymore. They're not. That's just how they do it.
Katie Nolan
But yeah, Tom Brady and Snoop.
Brady
Yeah, that was crazy. But yeah, there's. We technically did something together. We've never met. Keep going. Sorry.
Chris
I wouldn't say I was friends with him, but knew him through the years a bit. And I remember when he started rapping way back in middle school, so it's crazy to me he still has songs with Snoop Dogg now. Fun fact. He was voted funniest male in our graduating class and also won multiple badminton tournaments that our school famously held every year. Anyway. Love you mean it.
Brady
Wait. Love you mean it too. Wait. I was thinking about, like, yeah, he is so funny. I was thinking about how I wanted to say shout out little Dicky. He's very, very funny. How many seasons of that show were there? Because I think I watched two, but I think I'm way behind. Is it three or four? I don't know, but I watched it and I liked it. It was a good show. So shout out him. But then you said he also would win badminton tournaments. Multiple badminton tournaments. I wonder if he's still.
Chris
I played a season. I played a season of badminton season. Yeah.
Brady
What does that mean?
Katie Nolan
I've never seen badminton played as anything more than like, like, hey, there's badminton. Paddle rackets in a picnic.
Brady
The Olympics.
Katie Nolan
Never even seen it. Is it Olympic sport?
Chris
Yeah, yeah, of course it is.
Brady
Brady, this disrespectful. See guy who knows everything. Can't. I'm here learning.
Katie Nolan
I'm here.
Brady
I know, I know. You're right. So we just have to come up with what you're think. The. The old bay of people.
Katie Nolan
Brady going, everything.
Brady
This podcast's old bay. Oh, because you're old and we love you. You know what I mean?
Katie Nolan
It works.
Brady
It's. He's not old. Okay. Interesting and cool. And I also do love the. We weren't really friends, but he. I remember him started rapping in middle school. That's so. That is cool to see them go from like, oh, wow, he really is taking this seriously. And then, like, make it. I don't know. I imagine that's pretty cool. I guess I'll ask everybody at my high school reunion next week. I just found out I have a high school reunion next week, you guys.
Chris
Oh, wow.
Brady
Are you going? I don't want to, but my closest friend is. Was our class secretary, so she texted me and she was like, I just remembered you never check Facebook. You're going to this. I RSVP'd you yes. And I was like, if you have a buddy, I think it'll be. Be fine. I don't want it.
Katie Nolan
Isabelle, you want to go?
Brady
I want to make Dan go. I want to make Dan go. But then I won't. But then he. They'll want, they'll want to talk to him. And I'm like, no, isn't that good.
Chris
So that you don't have to talk to anyone that you don't want to talk to.
Brady
True, true. But you, but then you'll get kind of like talk. I can't get one up by Dan at my. But at the same time, like, I don't. It's not. Wouldn't be as fun if he doesn't. So I don't know what's going to happen. Okay.
Chris
And real quick, that wasn't the only little Dicky related email that we got because we also got an email from Megan who said, hey, Katie and the casuals crew, big fan of segment of palooza, actually laughed out loud in my car today. So thanks for that. While I didn't have a white rapper at my high school of note, my wife did go to summer camp with David Bird, AKA Lil Dicky. Love you mean it. Oh, that's two people emailing in to say they have a connection to little Dicky.
Brady
That's sick. Although if you were going to lie and say you knew Little Dicky, the best lie to tell would be like, o my friend went to camp with little Dickies. That's like, absolutely. It's an easy. That was a lot of like, no, I have a girlfriend. I definitely have a lot of kids in school. I remember going like, I have a girlfriend. We go to camp together. All right, cool. That's sick. So a lot of people claimed you little dick eats. That's good. Okay, let's talk about this kai Trump story. 18 year old Kai Trump. It's Donald Trump's granddaughter, the daughter of Donald Trump Jr. And Vanessa Trump. And then just so we have all of this caught up for you, that the Vanessa Trump is currently dating Tiger Woods. So this is a whole thing. 18 year old Kai Trump made her official LPGA debut this weekend at the Annika Tournament in Pelican Golf Club in Bel Air, Florida. It's just such rich words. Despite ranking 461st in the American Junior Golf association rankings and 1081st in the Universal golf rankings junior girls rankings, I know you guys are checking these every week. I just want to recap for people who aren't, despite the fact that that's how she ranks. She played the event as a sponsors exemption, which according to the pelicans, Dan Doyle Jr. I don't know what he does for a job, but I assume he's like a spokesperson. He said the idea of the exemption, when you go into the history of exemptions, is to bring attention to the event. Yeah, I think. Oh, and then Annika Sorenstan followed up and said, yeah, I think any tournament wants buzz. So that's how they usually use these SP exemptions, is to create buzz. Well, buzz, buzz. She shot 83 on Thursday and 75 on Friday to finish 18 over. Or as Jeffrey Epstein calls it, Ew. I am so sorry. I haven't had something occur to me like that before live. She missed the cut just by. Just a little. She missed the cut by 17 strokes. She was right there. She almost had it. She was dead last in the field, six strokes behind the next best player. Tournament host Annika Sorenstam said, give this girl a chance. Right. No, I don't know. Wrong. It was clearly a preemptive attempt to deflect any negative attention headed Trump's way. Sorenstam accepted the Presidential Medal of Freedom from kai's grandfather on January 7, 2021. If it was done for publicity, the LPGA strategy was puzzling, to say the least on social media. The LPGA posted one clip on Twitter of her heading to the tee box before her Thursday round and then one montage after she finished her Friday round at 18 over.
Chris
And that's a long montage.
Brady
I mean, that. That was it for. I mean, did they show every stroke or did they just go like. If it was the good stuff, it was a rather short montage.
Katie Nolan
The thing about golf is like, you can just show the good shots and it'll look good on social, even if you're shooting in teen over.
Brady
And so that's what they did. I didn't see the video. Does she. Oh, no, they played it all.
Katie Nolan
They. Not all of them, but like played too much to make it look good.
Brady
Why would they do.
Katie Nolan
It was strange.
Brady
Well, listen, it did. When do we talk about this tour? I've never talked about this before. So it did technically garner publicity. This part made me go bleh. The article on LPGA.com about Trump finishing dead last. I just like the way that sounds. Let me say that again. The article on LPGA.com about Trump finishing dead last has since been deleted and replaced by the headline Trump Grateful for Chance.
Katie Nolan
Cuz you can still google it and get the thumbnail to Trump finishes Dead last and the results. And then it's a 404 error and then you have to go back and look through their news and they're like, man, she was so happy to be there.
Brady
Trump just happened.
Katie Nolan
That's all. Just her personal statement.
Brady
I mean, embarrassing. That's embarrassing. It should be. If we still got embarrassed, this would be embarrassing. Unfortunately, I feel like people that don't. People can insulate themselves to things and then go, actually it's me who's the victim. Damn. People are being really mean to me about sucking ass in my first ever tournament that I shouldn't have been at anyway. Wow, people sure are being mean now. I will put a disclaimer on this, as with anything, but I'm seeing it a lot online lately, so I feel it's irresponsible to not say this will eventually just become sexist. And she let's like watching the way people talk about women online, it festers very quickly. It's a. I'm not saying every attack on every woman for anything they've ever done is because of sexism. I'm just saying it devolves into sexism at an alarming rate and then it grows because for some reason if you are being sex, it's like a swan. It like calls. It's like a siren song of sexism. And then all these sexist people go like, yes. And they come to the story and they just feast off of we're being mean to a lady. And it gets overridden very quickly. And so we won't dwell on this, but girl, you stink. Girl, you are not good. You are out here being very bad at golf and we can all see and so boo to you. You stink. And that's all I really wanted to say. Brady. I know. Did anything else you wanted to say about it?
Katie Nolan
It's like if you're doing it, then if you're doing it, it's going to be for publicity. Then make it about publicity. Bring all the eyes in, show all the clips on social, make it all about what happened. But then it was almost like they did it, but they really want to do it. They said halfway. They still tried to. Like all of the lpga, social was just about, you know, this golfer birdied, this golf golfer eagled and I don't know, pick a lane and go in it. If you want to really make it all about your sport, then don't invite a sponsors exemption to the thousandth best 17 year old or 18 year old in the country. If you want to really lean into the publicity. Lean into the publicity. Like Caitlin Clark was there playing the pro Am end of it and they did great with that. But then it seemed like they had this very off, awkward middle ground where they were afraid to like really publicize something. Really publicize people talking about the actual LPGA event of it sat in this middle ground. Didn't feel like anybody won this. It doesn't feel like the LPGA is moving forward at the same pace as every other women's league in terms of the way they present the sport. They don't really seem to have a clear direction with it. And I want better for it. Like, clearly there are women playing amazing golf. There's interest in golf. Like, why isn't disconnecting as well?
Brady
Yeah. So that's that. Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for when she comes out and says that everybody that beat her was trans. Okay, coming up, we're gonna take a quick break here. The nwsl. Crazy, crazy action in the nwsl. We know our final it is set. We'll get hyped for that. Shador Sanders made his NFL debut and reality stars are gonna watch NFL games with you. Brady
Reese's?
Katie Nolan
Ashley, go back to the nature sounds. Nice. Yeah, that's really nice.
Brady
Hey, welcome back. All right, let's talk about the NWSL we have been following and rooting for. We've all stated who we're rooting for, right? We've all gone around and said who.
Chris
Yeah, we're all Gotham, except for Brady, who was thorns.
Katie Nolan
That was Thorns. So I'm done now. I got two teams with no S on the end.
Brady
Yeah. Is that okay? Are you okay? You have one team with an S in the beginning, and that's Isabella. Looking on the bright side, I don't think it. I don't think it matters if that matters. I think that was very lovely of her. Thank you, Isabella. Gotham fc.
Chris
Hello.
Brady
They're going to the final. Another epic finish. And by epic finish, I mean that I. I spent the majority of the game feeling like I was gonna vomit. And then right at the very end, they scored. And then also, not only at the very end did they score, but then there was like almost a chance where they got scored on at the very end and they had to make a crazy save. And I was like, why are they doing it like this? It's so mean the way they're doing it. I'm so happy that my friends are winning. I'm so happy that in the last season I get to root for this team because next season there's going to be a Boston team. And it would be a violation of everything I stand for and was born into to root for a New York team in a. That has a Boston team. So as of now, I've been okay rooting for a New York team. And it's actually been kind of nice because I live here. And so it's kind of nice I have to abandon them next year because Boston's getting a team and that's just how it goes. But I got three friends on this team and they're winning. They barely. They, like, were at the. They were the lowest seed in the playoffs. They. They won a game that nobody thought they were going to win. They've embraced this underdog mentality. They win again over the weekend in an annoying way that I didn't appreciate, but that was great. And it was. I thought, Midge touch that ball. I thought she got a touch on it and I was like, mid score that game. She didn't, but we still love her. It was Jaden Shaw who scored it, who I think actually has been involved in all of their postseason goals in one way or another. Jaden Shaw has. So they are through to the NWSL final. They won 1 nil over the Orlando Pride on Sunday. It was so funny. It was right after they said, you know, no NWSL postseason game, or maybe it was a semi final game, had ever been a nil nil tie. We'll see if it happened. And it did and it didn't. It was like they spoke it into existence.
Katie Nolan
They were into the 97th minute. Like they were in it. It was. It was in the very last minute of stoppage time. So Jaden scores and I text you. Everyone's like, holy, epic finish again. And then like, I put the phone down, I'm like, wait, they're still playing. They played like three more minutes.
Brady
It was funny. Cuz I went. I said like, I was like, wow, what a save. And then I'm like. In my head was like, Brady famously turned a game off and thought that what happened was the. I'm like, I bet once that goal got scored, he was like, game over. Back to football.
Katie Nolan
In my mind, I was like, that's gonna be it. But I did not change the channel. I did not change the channel.
Brady
Good job, Brady. Very proud of you.
Katie Nolan
Stuck with it.
Brady
Good job.
Katie Nolan
Incredible, Incredible finish.
Brady
An incredible finish to the game. So happy for them also. So after the game, I was watching the post game interview and they talked to a couple people, but they talked to Midge. Looked amazing. Was amazing. Absolutely electric. Our favorite. We love our girl. But at the very, very end of the interview, and I want to paint the picture here, she's holding an ESPN mic when she says this. But she looked into the camera and was like, can I say one more thing before I go? And then said this. Last week. Last week, ESPN top 10, you guys. Sports center top 10. You missed Katie Stangle. That goal was storybook. Storybook. You missed it. It wasn't. Why wasn't it on the Sports center top 10 next time. Love you. I loved that. That was sick. I texted her and I said, I literally can't with you. The Sports center call out is crazy. That's great. Perfect. She's amazing. So this is their. They're going to the finals. They're going to play the Washington Spirit. And do we have an update on Trinity Rodman? Do we know if she's gonna play? Is she gonna start?
Katie Nolan
No, I don't think we will until later in the week.
Brady
I know, but I want to know now. So have we considered asking? Because I really do want to know.
Katie Nolan
I mean, we don't even know if she's gonna play in the United States next year. That's the big drama.
Brady
Okay, I know, and I'm not really ready to talk about that either. But it's also on my list of half completed, half researched, half written yaps, which is basically that, yeah, we're running into a situation with Trinity Rodman where she's. Obviously, there's interest in her overseas. And, you know, kind of the same thing happening with Project B. Crazy name for a women's league, if you're really thinking about it. Really evokes birth control methods of a certain. Yeah, like a backup plan. But like, yeah, we're coming down to a situation where it's like, if these women's leagues aren't going to pony up the Cash, which it's seeming like they don't want to. And that's across the board with athletes. But women are obviously starting way lower and asking for their money to kind of be commensurate way with the money that other teams get in relation or other players get in relation to their leagues. But either across the board, no owners voluntarily going, like, you know, let's give them more money. I think it's. Everybody's being like this except foreign powers that be. And so it's seeming like there's a possibility Trinity Rodman might play overseas. And then you get into conversations about, like, does Trinity Rodman have a responsibility to grow the game here? Is that fair to ask of her or any female athlete that they would sacrifice the amount of money that could make in their limited window to. With their body, which could go at any moment in their career, could be over. What do they owe to a league to stick around? And what does the league owe to them? And how do we get the league to pay them? So things get a little sad, a little fast. So I think we should all enjoy that. We may see Trinity Rodman playing in this final. We get to see other U.S. women's national team names that we've come to know and love. We're in a changing of the guards time for US Women's National Team. And so it's good to see them on a big stage like this. It's gonna be 8pm Eastern on Saturday, this final on CBS. I love that Sunday. I listen. I tuned in, but it was. I had to, annoyingly. I had, like, red zone on my laptop, and it was too much to follow. But I know that sounds crazy because no goals were really scored until the very end. But, like, I didn't want to not be paying attention to the actual game. It was just a lot. So Saturday is fine. Cause you know me, college football not really my bag. And so that's great. I'm excited. Looking forward to this. It's Gotham's second NWSL final appearance. Having lifted the trophy in 2023. You'll remember coolest photo ever taken of an athlete was taken of Mitch Purse after that game when she got named MVP and she had the cigar in her mouth. And I've been saying that I want to put her in one of those frames that we have in here, but I keep forgetting to actually do it. Let me write it down for about the 18th time shortly, it's somewhere else. Marta. It was good to watch her. I mean, what a. What a career. What a player. There was catching Marta having conversations with like Sonnet throughout the game, like other people throughout the. It was just like a. She's just been so important for women's soccer and is doing it at her. At her big age and still doing it at such a high level. She's non committal on her future. After this weekend's loss. One of the league's biggest stars on the shortlist for the MARTA award. Which is incredible. If you're gonna.
Chris
Which she won last year.
Brady
Absolutely incredible. It's just like. Like, of course, as long. That's why you should never name an award after someone until they're done going. Because you're just. Who wouldn't. Who else would win the MARTA award but Marta? It was based off of being like Marta. And she still is. It's the women's goal of the year prize. That's what they call the MARTA award. Amazing. She's amazing. It was great to watch her, but it was even better to watch Gotham beat her. Sorry. And. And we're excited to see them moving on to the finals. Everybody excited about that? That?
Chris
Of course.
Brady
Of course. Hell yeah. Shout out to them. Quick NHL thing before we go into NFL. Did you see this Jack Hughes story about his hand? So he. Jack Hughes is out for a long time. Eight weeks. This story. Jack Hughes, the story happened over the weekend that they were out to dinner, a team dinner, and he cut his hand. And so he was going to be out that night. And then as more details started to emerge, I think the story that we've gotten is that he was like leaning on a glass or something and the glass shattered in his hand and he was going to get surgery on his hand. I have to. I get paid every time I say hand. And now we find out he's gone. He's out for eight week. Did his finger fall off? What the. Is this injury? I know there's a lot of. I had a friend once who was making guacamole for a party, and she dropped the knife and like jumped back and it landed in her foot. Like, knife side. Like, it landed in her foot. And when she went. We got her to the hospital. I. Me. I passed out. I was like a goat. I immediately was like, I don't need to be here or any of this. And then they. From what I heard, they got her to the hospital and she was like. They told me how lucky I was to have missed big tendons. Like your. Your foot's just a mess of tendons. And I imagine your hand is similar, right? Cause it's your upstairs foot. And. Or. Or maybe your foot's your downstairs hand. I don't know. But I just. I. I'm.
Katie Nolan
Upstairs foot sounds way better than downstairs hand.
Brady
I agree. And so I think that, like, I am not trying to be ignorant to all the damage you can do to your hand with a glass, but, like, bro, they were at dinner. Eight weeks, you're out. What? That's some baseball shit. That's some. We do a tradition with an ax in the locker room before the game, and, oops, I cut my toe off. Like, that's crazy.
Katie Nolan
The baseball of it is that it have. Having worked in baseball so long, I immediately call bullshit on any story involving hands where every year you'll have a baseball player like, oh, I shut my hand in the door. I'm out for six weeks. I'm like, no, you punched a wall like a dumbass.
Brady
Right? Remember when. Who was it? Was it Nate Burleson when he was on the Lions that said that he got injured? He had a pizza in his car in the passenger seat, and he had to, like, slam on his brakes or something to stop the pizza from going off the seat, and he was like. And I broke my. And everybody was like, really? That's.
Chris
That's.
Brady
That's how you did it?
Chris
That's so funny.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
Broke his arm saving your pizza. I love Nate Burleson. And there was one.
Katie Nolan
I love Nate Burleson, but there's no way I'm believing that one either.
Brady
There's no way that could possibly be true. And then, Isabella, I have to remember to tell you to look up the Brad Marchand video with his daughter. He's, like, spinning her around on the ice by her. Her skates. And I was like, isabelle's gonna watch this and go like, oh, I get why Katie was so sad. It's absolutely effing adorable. So you have to look that up. And then last thing about hockey, and then we're gonna get into the NH the NFL. Did you see that Carolina played Vancouver this weekend, and it was Van versus Car. It just had me so intrigued. Who would win Van versus Car. It's every soccer mom's every. Like, every parent of three's real debate. Van versus Car. Who are you guys? Ah, I take car screwed.
Katie Nolan
If we're going rogue with rejected hockey stories. Did you see what the Ducks are giving away on Saturday at the arena?
Brady
What?
Katie Nolan
The Ducks are giving away Duck Crocs.
Brady
Oh, my God. Go get those. I thought those were for sale. I almost bought a pair of those I'm not a Crocs lady, but those absolutely rule. They're Crocs in the shape of like a. Having a duck's foot. And they're orange and they're sick.
Katie Nolan
They look incredible.
Brady
They're absolutely sick. Go to a Ducks game to get those. If you don't do that, you're nuts.
Chris
By the way, speaking about hand injuries and things like that, I have a story that I can lend to an athlete the next time that they want to find an excuse for doing something silly. When I was in my early 20s, me and my buddies would brew our own beer. And there is certain, you know, procedure for what you should do when you're bottling the beer and how quickly you can put it in the ice and things like that. And I think one of the, one of the beers, one of the tubs that we brewed, we might have put into the ice a little bit too early because we're at a buddy's place. And we were all sitting on the couch and there was the cooler next to us, the Esky next to us, and we just heard a pop.
Brady
Oh, no.
Chris
And we all looked around and we're like, what was that pop? And my buddy looked down and his hand was sliced open because the top of the beer bottle had popped off from the bottom half of the beer bottle and the shard of glass sliced his hand open.
Brady
Jeez.
Chris
And he had to go to the hospital. He had to leave the party and, and get it.
Brady
I'm sorry for him. How many beers in was he. Because that determines how quickly that blood was flowing. If you cut yourself when you've been drinking it.
Chris
No, I think it was relatively early on in the night, thankfully, where we could still like, good be like. We were fine driving him to, to the hospital, but it was, it was nuts. It had flown over me because he was. I was sitting in between the. The Esky and him and so it just passed over me.
Brady
The Esky.
Chris
But if anyone. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And that's why Australians now just put their beer in absurdly large aluminum cans.
Brady
Yes.
Chris
Much safer.
Brady
I once. The last time, the first, and maybe not first, but definitely the last time, I wore open toed shoes to a bar like flip flops. My friend dropped. We were at the Tin Alley Grill. I mean, Jesus, of all the places to be. Wasn't even like a great night out. She just dropped a glass and it exploded next to my foot. But. But the pressure from it exploding sent a shard of glass into my pinky toe and I literally almost lost My pinky toe, as I said literally, I'm like, maybe chill. I don't know if maybe you literally almost lost it. But it really. I mean, my pinky toe is tiny. Show. The pinky toe is there. The nail on it is fucking disgusting. The nail on my pinky toe, when I paint it with nail polish, but it's like a dot, it looks at me and goes like, are you fucking kidding me? You're painting skin. Can we both acknowledge that you're just painting skin? Dude, my pinky toe is so small. Small. But anyway, it almost cut my toe off and so. But the blood, I was so drunk at that point and the. I was like, is really bleeding. Yeah, dude, this is not good. So anyway, I hope he's okay. Eight weeks. Usually you hear at the end of a hockey season, hey, this guy's been playing with a collapsed lung. And now you're like, they went out to dinner, he mishandled a glass. You're not going to see him for two and a half months. I don't know. Two months. What are we calling eight weeks? Two months? What is time? Let's talk about the NFL. I didn't see this until just now. Peacock is debuting a reality TV themed NFL alt cast called Reality Hot Seat on December 7th. So last week NBC announced that they're going to do an alt cast. That's when they take a game because they've got the rights to the game and instead of it having the booth that you would normally have, the commentators, they give you other people. So like Manning cast is an alt cast and that is usually they get rid of the announcers of the game. They put on screen Eli Peyton and somebody that's actually entertaining and then they, they watch a game with you. So it's not. Not being forced on you. This is an option that's being put on by NBC.
Chris
It's like what they've done with the Nickelodeon game as well, where they turn games into like a Nickelodeon themed broadcast to bring kids into it and have kids be interested in the broadcast.
Brady
The ancient, the ancient art of throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks. This feels like they're trying to capture an audience. They're. I like it. December 7th, Sunday Night Football between the Chiefs and the Texans. Peacock will stream the alternative telecast called Reality Hot Seat, which will feature several of reality TV's biggest stars. Now we're talking about this hot on the heels of Bravo Con. Isabella, did you watch? Do you. Did you get any Bravo Con content this weekend? I did not at all. I've never even heard of that. Wow. That's the convention for Bravo, for the reality tv. All the shows on there. Wow. And that if you ever want to make someone feel stupid, that's how you do it. She did it perfectly there. And I'll just sit in that because obviously Chris and Brady, it was aware it existed.
Katie Nolan
I had to scroll past it on.
Brady
People don't do this. It's more embarrassing for me if you do this. I was disconnected from social media. Thank you. Thank you so much. The host of the event will be Boston Rob from Survivor, also from Traders. If you happen to dabble, Heather Gay of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, which is, if you happen to dabble, a. A wild choice. And then Justin Sylvester and Kate Chastain of Below Deck. I do love Kate. I have not kept up with Kate in recent years, but Kate was great on Below Deck. She's one of those, like, I'd hate working with her probably, but she's very sassy, very funny. They tried to give her a show, I think, on Bravo for a while, but I'm on an island. I don't know why I'm even continuing to have this conversation with literally myself. Quote, together, they'll embrace the game as the ultimate unscripted event. It is. And I mean it is. And deliver a play by play with a reality fan's eye view. NBC Sports press release reads, reality hot seat brings together two of the greatest passions, football and reality tv. That's the Vegas sentence I've ever heard in my life. Yeah, I guess we've got two things. These are the two things. Both full of drama, strategy, and fiercely loyal fans. That's what the chairman of Bravo and Peacock unscripted said. Let me be nice about her just in case I got to take a meeting with her someday. We're not reinventing the game. We're simply watching it through a different lens, one that leans into the unscripted storylines already happening on the field. Look, this is. I don't see an issue. I think this is interesting. Maybe. Does it work? We don't know. We'll find out. I would certainly be interested in tuning in. My only note is that I think these things would really benefit from having, like, somebody there that, like, does. Does this. I'm trying.
Katie Nolan
That was my question when they showed four reality stars and no other names. It wasn't even, like, Jack Collinsworth.
Brady
Right, right, right, right.
Katie Nolan
If somebody's like, what the fuck is that?
Brady
But it's just like any. Any sort of person who might have crossover of the two worlds. I'm trying to. Trying to tiptoe around, like, why didn't anybody ask me to do this? Just like somebody that can kind of keep things on track should they need it at a. Any point.
Katie Nolan
Just so that the Nickelodeon game has Nate Burleson on it.
Brady
Right. So that the. So that the celeb. So that the people that are in for the Bravo celebrities aren't also being. I don't just give them somebody that can also be like, while you're here, let me make you more familiar with the product so that maybe one day you would watch this even if we didn't get all these Bravo. You know what I mean? Like just some way to capture the audience. Somebody that was caring and thinking about that at all is my only. No, I would still watch this, I think probably. I mean, Boston Rob by nature of being from Boston, I assume is like into sports at least a little. They put it in us when we're born.
Katie Nolan
Way to typecast.
Brady
Just saying. If you are from Boston and you don't care about sports, you are the anomaly. It's just how it is. And I don't judge you. No, I do. I don't want to say it. I don't want to lie, but I. It's just like it gets on you. You have just an awareness of it that. But I don't know. I think this is interesting.
Katie Nolan
And if it's just the four of them, I'm absolutely tuning into it for.
Brady
Like, if we have like they bring in guests. I bet they do.
Katie Nolan
I bet if there's. We have like horrific, horrific ankle injury. That's appointment viewing of just the four of them. Like. All right, now here's where it gets pinned.
Brady
That one. Yeah, we'll see. We'll see how that goes. I think it's funny. I think it's fun. We'll see what they do with it. I hope they have at least one good writer. I know it's unscripted, but if you could get a good writer, like a watch what happens live type to pitch segments that they can do, games they can play to keep things interesting. If there's like parts of the game that aren't as interesting, that would be a good idea. So hopefully they've got people working on that. I'm sure they do. We'll see how it goes. Brady, your commanders lost to the Dolphins this week in a. In a Madrid morning battle. Your team up against the godfather of my children, Mike McDaniel, head coach of the Dolphins. What. How how did that feel to get your ass kicked all the way over.
Katie Nolan
There in a game no one tried to win? Um, the season's gone poorly. Like, we've transitioned as a fan base into. Every loss is like, all right, we're up to the number seven overall pick in the draft now losing the game. We're like, all right, up to number five.
Brady
So, Isabella, the worse they do, the better the pick that they will receive in an upcoming draft. You know that.
Katie Nolan
I'm just making sure, watching more college football now, being like, I like this one. This is a pass rusher we need.
Brady
You're like starting to be a scout instead of a viewer. Yeah. All right. That's fine.
Katie Nolan
Fun hope has been gone. This game was so weird.
Brady
So weird, so weird, so weird. 16, 13 in overtime. I woke up, saw the score and went 13:13.
Katie Nolan
And both teams had a chance to score under two minutes. And neither team could like. The big takeaway was that with under two minutes to go, the Dolphins went down to the two yard line. The game was tied. And the way football works is that you need one more point than the other team to win.
Brady
That's how a lot of just laying.
Katie Nolan
It out there for the label.
Brady
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
They had. They were at the two yard line, it was fourth down and the Dolphins just needed to kick field goal. And then they'd be up. They'd have more points than the other team. But Mike McDaniel went for it on fourth down. He tried to run into the end zone again.
Chris
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So instead of opting for the likely points.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So they got stopped.
Brady
Yeah. Did they win?
Chris
They did.
Brady
Yeah. So they should have. So they did, though.
Katie Nolan
This is a bad choice.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Well, usually, like, I think too much. There's too much bluster about choices football coaches should have made. This is a choice.
Brady
Let's quote Mike McDaniel. You don't make that decision unless. I thought the play was going to work and it didn't.
Katie Nolan
No.
Brady
Looking at it from. It was about 147 or something with no timeouts. It was 144. I think a field goal gives them the ball back. Their special teams is very adept at getting the ball between the 30 and 40, which would leave about 25 yards for a tying field goal as opposed to going 60 yards when they're backed up. I'm with them on the that. Did it work?
Katie Nolan
They have 13 points all game with their backup quarterback and two injured wide receiver.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So there's very little chance for them scoring another point.
Brady
Are we going to Talk about what Tua said. Yes, we get to that. Is that later?
Katie Nolan
That is later.
Brady
Okay, cool. Because. Geez Louise. Covered in cheese. Oh, my God. Okay, let's keep flying through this. We're going to run long again. Browns rookie quarterback Shador Sanders made his NFL debut Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, coming on at the start of the second half after Dylan Gabriel sustained a concussion. It was unfortunate timing, but fans had been chanting for him in the first half, and then when Gabriel went out with the concussion, then they were. Then. Then he did come out, so they got what they wanted. I don't think they were hoping that he would get hurt in some way.
Katie Nolan
Monkey's pot.
Brady
It just is hat. Yeah, it just sort of worked out this way. And how did it go? Well, Isabella, he threw 16 passes, and four of them were caught.
Katie Nolan
Five total.
Brady
Good at all. Five total. I thought he was four of 16.
Katie Nolan
One of them was caught by the other team.
Brady
One of them was caught by the other team. He threw a pick 47 yards. There was a pick. He got sacked twice. He said, I don't think I played good after the game, which is good. That means he's self aware, he's paying attention. He was there as well, and he knows how it went. He, you know, they lost 23 16. I also heard him say it felt good to take a hit, and I was like, that's what I would want to hear from my quarterback in that situation. He said he hadn't taken a hit since Colorado, and it was. It felt good. He felt alive. It was good to be back out there. Okay, so we'll see goals achieved. People have a lot of strong opinions on this family, and because of that, I go, I don't. You guys fight about it. I don't want to. I'm protecting my peace. Okay, let's talk about the MLB awards, because we haven't talked about this since they happened. We missed all of this last week, you're saying?
Chris
Yep.
Brady
Wow. Okay. NL MVP went to SH Otani. An important reminder for anybody who's new with baseball, they cannot take postseason. This is across all sports, right? That they don't take postseason into account. I don't know if it's. I don't think of. I can't think of one either. They don't take postseason stuff into account. So once the season is over, those are the numbers and stories that they're basing these awards off of. Because I saw a lot of people being like, what about when we were doing Cy Young? They were like, yamamoto should get it. It's like. Well, they can't take into account how incredible and like record setting his postseason loss. So anyway, Ohtani, unanimous winner of his fourth MVP in five years. Years. Another reason why every casual sportsman needs to watch this guy play. Another reason why we need to make sure they don't lock out this sport. It is. Otani is unreal. I think I saw he's the only guy to do to win 2 Al MVPs and 2 NL MVP.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Cuz there's only so many guys who have 4 in general.
Brady
What in the actual F. He's so good. He got all 30 first place votes from the BBWA. It's just so funny to me. It's just so funny to me how many guys like old guys in baseball during these award shows are like, welcome back to the bbwaa. Like somebody in another room is just hearing the first three and going, what the are they watching in there? It could also just be the bw. Why do we have to bb Baseball's one word.
Katie Nolan
You don't have a problem with an AA just for bbw.
Brady
Yeah. Sometimes you got to recover. You know what I'm saying? It's 12 steps. Steps. Make sure they aren't up the stairs or the thing's only gonna get here. Okay. Ohtani was already the only player among the four major American professional sports with more than one unanimous mvp. Now he's the first player in Major League Baseball, NBA, NHL and NFL history to win both an MVP and a championship in each of his first two seasons with a team. He's good. Okay. He's good. Okay. And here's the thing. I. This is why I know my take on the ALMVP and is like not. It's not just Judge. It's not just fatigue because I don't have Ohtani fatigue, but I am frustrated that Aaron Judge beat out Dumper for the AL mvp. We've been campaigning all season for Big Dumper to be named the MVP in the American League, and he was not. It went to Aaron Judge. Now, Aaron Judge had an amazing season. Aaron Judge is incredible. Everybody loves Aaron Judge. If you look at the war, if you look at the F war, if you look at the wrc. Plus if you look at the. I don't fucking. It's. I'm so tired. It's like. It just. I'm frustrated because I'm. I feel like we're not doing a good job of representing that there's people who like sports for other than just like the numbers. And I know his Numbers are fucking amazing. And that's so great that he got the mvp. And I'm not even like, look, I didn't really think Cal was gonna. But there has to be something. What award goes to what California did? What award goes to the guy that, like, captured the heart of a nation? Like, what award goes to the guy that is a catcher and led MLB in home runs and RBI during the season?
Katie Nolan
What.
Brady
What go. What. What does he get? Because he didn't get anything. And you're like, so we're just going to have to remember that he. That was that year. He. Something should commemorate. Yeah. Okay.
Katie Nolan
Congratulations, you got a silver Slugger.
Brady
Get in line. I guess, like, this is. I don't know. I just think, like, I hope the. I know people always. Athletes will say whether, like, the. The awards is not about the awards, it's about. And I know he would have rather probably won the World Series than even be considered for an MVP award, but it's like, I. I do hope he knows, like, what his season meant to his fans and to baseball fans. I know a lot of people. Seattle has done this a couple times across the country. Like, ignited our love for this sport, which is our national pastime in a way that I think we really should be showing appreciation for. Like, tuned in for the big dumper and tuned in for Seattle, and they continue to do that. And they. I just feel so. Just feel so bad for them. Can't they have anything, you know, other than the fish that get thrown? Can't they have something. Okay, real quick. We. We can't skip this because I like this segment too much. We're bringing back a favorite. Should I have said that out loud? Oops. Perfect. Tua. My goodness. Tua. All throughout the year, Tua Tonga Vailoa, the quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, has two. Just been saying stuff that if you didn't know he had taken a lot of hits to the head in his career, you would. You. You'd know by just watching. And. And I keep being like, let's stop letting him talk here. But he just can't help it. I'm going to try to remember these off the top of my head. I remember he told Cam Newton, Cam Newton had said something critical of him and he said, like, he should try quarterbacking. He had. He was a quarterback. He's very famously played the position. There was another time they were playing the Bills and he was talking about his opposing quarterback, Josh Allen, and he said, man, there's stuff that guy can do. I could never do that. You're like, ah, now this one I could see. But in the context of like, you're about to play him, maybe now's not the time we say that there's been more. Oh, and when he said that he couldn't see, the reason he didn't get, he didn't target some of his best targets is because he's pretty short and the, the linemen are tall and he couldn't see over them. And it's not a good idea to throw when you, you can't see, which is just so this, you're thinking, what could he possibly have said? Katie, you're just nitpicking. You're nitpicking at this point. You're attacking this guy. It's borderline on bullying. He couldn't possibly have said anything stupid enough to warrant being played in this segment. Well, Tua was asked because they were playing internationally in the Madrid game. He was asked if there was somewhere in Europe that he would like to play. Where would that be? Be? And here's what Tua said.
Katie Nolan
Pretty cool to, to go play in Jerusalem.
Brady
I know that'd be sick. It's just, even if, because I try to, I try to allow for athletes in season to be ignorant to a point, I just try to save my own sanity. I go, look, these guys are so quote, unquote, laser focused, they couldn't possibly have awareness about the world. I can't, I can't to them to have a take about geopolitical situations, it's unreasonable. I understand why some people do it. My personal philosophy ever since Tom Brady put a hat in his locker was that I had to go like, these guys are kind of dumb and just allow for that. Cause they're good at football. That's what we like them for. And if they speak up about an injustice they've faced, always listen because they're speaking about their personal experience. But when it comes to geopolitical conflict, assume they don't fucking know. No. Okay. But even if you don't have a good take on this, to bring it up unprompted when you're not being asked about the situation specifically to go like, you know what I'd like to talk about? I'd like to talk about Israel. I think right now in front of all of you is fucking crazy. The only thing I can think of that is this level of crazy is when Eric Adams brought up, I was just thinking that, wait, I'm thinking of something else. Well, that's crazy. It's crazy that you were also Thinking of an Eric Adams thing. Eric Adams being the TUA of politics, or two, of being the Eric Adams. I don't know which one's a bigger insult, and I don't want to wade into these waters, but Eric Adams was once asked what he loved the most about New York, and he said, 9 11. And it was fucking insane. He was trying to say that he liked the way everybody came together, but he literally said his favorite thing on a morning show. Show interview. Just said September 11th. And everybody was like, what are you talking about? That's bringing up Jerusalem. When asked if, are you out of your yes is the answer. He's out of his mind. And no is the answer to should he have said this out loud?
Katie Nolan
You know what? No is also the answer to Is Jerusalem in Europe?
Brady
Oh, God. I didn't even think. Oh, my God. Just loud, wrong. As loud, wrong as possible. Oh, my God. Okay, so no is the answer to that one. Next, Former LA Rams and current Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Cooper cup was told during a press conference over the weekend that his former team will be doing a tribute video for him when they played. Here is how he responded to that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't know. I didn't know that. I don't know. I mean, I didn't die. You know, I'm here.
Brady
Should he have said that out loud? Yes, I think it's very funny. I also just think, like, yeah, I didn't. I didn't die. And also, I'm not here to be nice to you, so thank you for the nice montage. And I had fun as well. But I don't like you today. That's my job is to not like you out loud today.
Chris
It's definitely good in some circumstances where there's a player like, was it Isaiah Thomas? I think at one stage when he returned, Celtics might have had it. Brad Marchand. There's instances where it's been his Cooper cup at that. I wouldn't have thought so. Right?
Brady
His cup. Do his cup runneth.
Chris
And that's why he's so surprised. He's like, hang on.
Brady
Did you guys like those Midnight jerseys? Did you see those Rams? They debuted a new jersey and it's called, like, Midnight.
Katie Nolan
It was the black, the blue, the yellow.
Brady
Well, it's like dark, dark, dark, dark, dark blue technique. Technically, it's not black. It's like dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark, dark blue. Like the Chicago Bears blue. Midnight. No, darker. It's like.
Katie Nolan
It's like the blue on the merch shop. Everybody yells at Us.
Brady
I thought it was kind of cool as far as new jerseys go, other than the one. Oh, by the way, I saw your Patriots jerseys. Those, like, gray, blue ones.
Chris
I liked them.
Brady
You did? I like the bright red with the blue gray. I just wish it was more prominently featured. They were so boring looking to me. They were like. They just looked like, you know, it looks like. It looks like when your camera's blurry, you're like, can I? Yeah, I was like, I fixed that a little bit. What's wrong with this? Why does that look like that? Yeah, I didn't like it. I wasn't a big fan. Okay, so should he have said that out loud? Yeah, yeah, absolutely. And then the last one, we have a fan. And Draymond Green got into an altercation. Now, that sentence could go a lot of ways. It didn't go, I guess, as badly as you. You could be thinking he's a serial talker. Draymond Green. And he got upset with a fan over the weekend. Weekend. Who was repeatedly shouting Angel Reese's name at him because several of Green's early rebounds resulted from his short range misses. Here's what he said about the incident after the game. It was a good joke at first.
Chris
But you can't keep calling me a woman.
Brady
Went on away. I could think of a lot worse things to call you. You know, hey, you there.
Katie Nolan
You play like the best rebounder in the wnba.
Brady
But I get. But look, I'm not going to get offended about this. If you just keep calling him that, he's going to get annoyed. So I get it. But, like, it's. I'm not. It doesn't upset me, but it's like, Draymond, I think that's what he just kept calling me. Woman.
Chris
But his justification, and it was sort of hard to hear it in the second half of that clip, but what he was saying, saying is, I've got four kids and one more on the way. You can't keep calling me a woman.
Brady
It's like, women famously can have four kids and one on the way. In fact, that's where that. Guess who's cooking it up.
Chris
It's. It's such a weird thing to connect with the angel race.
Brady
And then again, I say they might just be dumb. You know what I'm saying? I just, like, I just think he didn't like being called somebody else's name and that somebody else was a woman he didn't want to be. He maybe felt emasculated by it. So I would say, in other words, words. It worked. I feel like that's probably what the guy was trying to do, and it worked, so. No, you shouldn't have said that out loud because clearly it bothered you and you should have just. Aren't you supposed to just, like, not let it bother you?
Katie Nolan
If I were Angel Reese, I'd be more insulted about being called. Dream on.
Brady
Yeah, I'd go like.
Chris
Whoa, whoa, whoa.
Brady
Chill. Please. Please. All right. Wow. Do we get through a show? Should we go to break and then we come back? Chris can tell us what to watch if we want to watch some sports this week. Does that sound good?
Chris
Let's do it.
Brady
Okay, let's do that. We'll be right back. Oh, hey. Welcome to gift wrapping.
Katie Nolan
Whoa. So we saldana.
Brady
Hey, can you wrap these, please? Wow.

Okay, welcome back. Before we let you go because it's Tuesday, Chris puts together this little thing just in case you were thinking about watching sports this week and you're like where would I even start? There's so many different streaming services and so many different type of sports. Well, Chris put together a list for you of what to watch if you want to watch some sports this week. What do we got? Chris?
Chris
The first thing that I wanted to touch on this stems from an email that we got from Matt. So let me read out Matt's email and then I'll tell you what event specifically I'll highlight. Okay, so Matt's says West Virginia played number 15, Duke tonight. This is when he sent his email. This is last week and at the end of the first half, six Mountaineer players got ejected for coming off the bench. That left West Virginia with only five players for the entire second half. Only one of those a starter. Not only did they hang with Duke, they won by eight. It was one of the grittiest performances I've ever seen. Absolutely unbelievable. And you know he wanted to say that his family are big West Virginia fans. His 13 year old son proudly wears the number of his favorite women's play players. Everyone watches women's sport. Love you, mean it. So Fantastic. From West Virginia. Right. So I wanted to highlight that program. They got a game coming up on Thursday against App state. That's at 10:15am Eastern. So we've got some early hoops. You can watch that game on espn. Plus Nooner Papa Papa Nooner. Get into that game. Get into West Virginia Hoops because that is. That's phenomenal performance.
Brady
Players and one starter. That's crazy.
Chris
One starter.
Brady
Shout out to. To. To WVU against Mozzarella Stick State this weekend. Well, that's weekend. You said no, Thursday. We'll all be tuning in 10:15am okay. What else?
Chris
Yes. So I got a couple. I've sort of packaged two Australian things into. Into one here. The first thing is the Ashes begin on Thursday. The cricket. You've heard me talk about the Ashes before on the show.
Brady
Not asses. Guys grow up.
Chris
Not the asses.
Brady
Ashes.
Chris
The Ashes started 9:20pm on Thursday night on Willow TV, which is about a $10 a month.
Brady
Willow TV. I don't know 100% in case people didn't know.
Chris
Thank you for clarifying.
Brady
Willow tv.
Chris
This is the first of five test matches. It's beginning in Perth. You have the first five day test match and then they move on to a different city. They go to Brisbane and Adelaide, then Melbourne, then Sydney and then whoever wins the most amount of test matches out of those five claim the Ashes. Right. So the Ashes, I don't know. Have I explained to you what they are and what the trophy is?
Brady
I don't think if you have. I forgot.
Chris
The Ashes is a rivalry specifically between Australia and England. And it started in 1882 when Australia and England were having a friendly match between one another and Australia won. And there was a newspaper article in England, England that wrote in affectionate remembrance of English cricket, which died at the Oval 29 August 1882. Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends and acquaintances. RIP the body will be cremated and the Ashes taken to Australia.
Brady
Wow.
Chris
So was talking about how this is the end of English cricket. And so someone made a joke out of that and bought one of the English cricket players a little urn filled with the ashes of what most people believe to be like a basket bale of like on. On the stumps where you see behind the batsman they've got like those three wicket stumps on the top of those stumps. It's called a bale. And so most people believe that the Ashes are made up of a bale from that game.
Brady
What if it's a guy?
Chris
Could be but what if it could.
Brady
Happen if it's a guy.
Chris
But now every time Australia plays England, they play for the Ashes of whatever.
Brady
It's kind of fun.
Katie Nolan
Thing is, I can't stress enough that this trophy they take. And this is. I brought this to Chris today. Explain this to me. This trophy they take is 10 centimeters tall.
Brady
Shut up. Really?
Katie Nolan
They have everyone poses with this tiny asteroid obsessed.
Brady
Okay, wait, I'm back in.
Chris
Wait, wait.
Brady
Four inches.
Chris
It's tiny.
Brady
Well, four inches is fine. I wouldn't say tiny personally. Just so nobody's feelings get hurt.
Chris
So it's a. It's a fun trophy. A very unique trophy in terms of world sport. But we had an email that we wanted to read out to you. Katie, is this going to. Is this trophy that I'm going to mention to you better or worse than the Ashes? So we got an email from Audrey who said. Hey, Katie. And the casualties. The World cup ski racing season has begun. A sport I'm incredibly not casual about. So I'm excited to report some news from the first slalom race of the season. Michaela Shiffrin won this Saturday's race.
Katie Nolan
Do that slalom.
Brady
We can't let him do that. Is in Australia. Is it slalom or is this. We can edit this. It is.
Katie Nolan
Does Chris get a pass on just up any word so.
Brady
Because we. It's his culture and I don't know if that's how they say it in Australia, but I don't even know how it's pronounced either way. Nuts. Slalom is where the witch trials happened. Okay. This is slalom.
Katie Nolan
Slalom was where the most fabulous witch trials ever occurred.
Chris
Dude. Anyway, Michaela Shiffrin won this Saturday's race in Levi, Finland. This is her 65th slalom victory and overall her 102nd World cup victory. So you may be wondering what makes this one so special. Well, the prize for winning this race in Levi is a reindeer. Yes, a real live reindeer. And Michaela just won her ninth reindeer. Putting her in competition with Santa Claus.
Brady
Wait, what Love is.
Chris
You mean it?
Brady
Love. You mean it, Audrey. Wait, what do you mean she. How many does Santa have? Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and. And Ann Rudolph. So that's not. That's nine. She has as many. What?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I looked it up.
Chris
She had.
Katie Nolan
She said she has nowhere to put reindeer. So, like she rented out a farm in Finland where he's reindeer go.
Brady
That's crazy. Does she get. I assume she gets other stuff, not just a reindeer.
Katie Nolan
No proof of it.
Chris
It seems more of a hassle than anything else.
Brady
Right. That's like when Pimp My Ride used to pimp people's ride. And then they'd be like, okay. And you have to pay these insurance costs. And they are through the roof. And people were like, I can't afford this. What do you want? You've saddled me with this reindeer and I have no presents to deliver. If I had nine reindeer and Christmas came, I would feel really guilty about not at least trying to get them to work together to car a sleigh and me and some gifts to some kids. That's. I'm just saying. Not saying that Mikaela Shifrin has to. She's very busy. And I'm also really happy to see her back. She had a tough Olympics. Was that the last. Was that her last Olympics? It had to be.
Katie Nolan
Must have been. That's four years ago.
Brady
Yeah, but she. I'm rooting for her. She's awesome. So good to hear. And I'm glad she's got a full fleet now. And I think she just. One of them has to have a medical anomaly and be shamed by the other reindeer to go through its own coming of age tale to then come, come back, be told it's cute. And then they'll all fly and it's great. I see this all happening. I watched the claymation of this movie every year.
Chris
So I know exactly what's the better trophy, Katie. The 10 centimeter urn or the reindeer.
Brady
Or the reindeer. Yeah, I'm gonna say the trophy. Cause it doesn't poop and pee, Chris.
Chris
That's a good point.
Katie Nolan
The frequency with which I lose my AirPods though. You can't give me a 4 inch tall trophy.
Brady
I do. I also have a recurring nightmare that I have a. That I got a dog, but it's like 2cm tall and I sit on it because it's on the couch and I don't see it and it dies. Oh, like that episode Soprano. It's a recurring nightmare, Chris. It's a. It happens. Not. It's like maybe once or twice a year, but I wake up and go like, I killed my dog. It was so small.
Katie Nolan
Myrtle, where are you? Tell me your real size.
Brady
Be big and bark at me. All right, what else? Is that it? Is that all we're watching this week?
Chris
Well, no, not yet. Because the second Australian thing that I want to sort of mention and explain to you because there's a weird little quirk in this. The AFL draft is on this weekend and Carlton have pick nine and 11 this draft. But I may as well not watch it because we already know who we're going to draft because there is such a thing in Australian football called the father son rule, that if someone's father played 100 games for a specific club, as long as the team and the son agree, we can just draft them.
Brady
Really?
Chris
Yep. So there's a kid called Harry Dean, British.
Brady
I feel it's very codified nepotism. We get in whole debates over whether that's allowed. And in Australia they go, come on.
Katie Nolan
It'S all Princeton legacies.
Chris
This has been going on since 1949.
Brady
Okay, don't say that like that makes it okay. A lot of things went on a long time ago, and that doesn't make them good.
Chris
But Harry Dean's dad played for Carlton in the 90s and he is going. He's projected to be like a top three pick if he was just out in the open draft. But we're gonna. We're gonna draft him even though we don't have a top three pick. So it's a very interesting quirk. They've now adopted it for the Carlton women's side as well. So, like the. The AFLW have implemented the father daughter rule.
Brady
I like that. Yeah, that is cool.
Chris
They're trying to figure out whether eventually they incorporate the daughter son, the. The mother son rule once the AFLW has been along for around for long enough. So it's a cool thing to sort of keep the tradition. Tradition of certain names within clubs.
Brady
You sold me alive.
Chris
Which is. Which is fun. And actually one of Carlton's AFLW players who was the first Carlton father daughter player is playing for us this weekend in the preliminary final, which is our version of the semi final. Carlton are playing against Brisbane. The winner of that game goes on to the grand final. So good luck to the Carlton women's team. Hopefully we can get the win and go on to the grand finals.
Brady
And yes, good luck to them. And that's enough Australia for me. I think I've had about enough there. I do want to say my favorite thing about this fight. Father son rule is the thought of a kid who has a dad who played but who wasn't that good and them being mad at them because they're like, now I have to get picked. Whereas if you could have just sucked it up and been good at this, I could have walked directly onto your squad. And I like that. And that's fun for me. All right, last.
Katie Nolan
The Lakers tried this with Bronnie James where they're like, they Told the rest of the NBA, you guys can't have Bronnie. We get Bronnie.
Chris
And the rest of the league was.
Brady
Like, you're all set. All set. Nothing to worry about. That's like calling dibs. And. And everyone's like, yeah, we were good. It wasn't even on our list, but you can have them. All right, and then what else are we watching? Last thing. Cause we gotta let these people go.
Chris
The PWHL season begins this week.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
They have to stay for this. Go ahead.
Chris
Yeah.
Brady
Yeah.
Chris
And we have a game between the Torrent and the Goldeneyes, the two new clubs, the two expansion franchises whom we just learnt the name of last week. They are facing off on Friday, November 21st at 10pm Eastern. You can watch that game on the PWHL YouTube channel. That's for people in the USA and the rest of the world. Everyone in Canada. Canada, you have to watch on tsn. But our own Jesse Eldridge. Remember we had Jesse Eldridge and Abby Rock from. From the New York Sirens on earlier on in the. In the year. Jesse Eldridge now plays for Seattle Torrent. Abby Rock with the Montreal Victoire.
Brady
Nice. That was really beautiful. That's such a bummer, though. I hate that neither of them are here anymore. Those were our.
Chris
I know. And they're separated as well. They're best friends.
Brady
I know. They just had gone to Disney together right. When they came to. To visit us. Yeah, a bummer. But good for them. And great. We'll all be tuning in. I saw the. The Seattle had a really nice moment in their. In their locker room before their match. Go look it up. Everything on this podcast, you should go look it up. We don't have time to tell you all these things. Okay. But we try our best. That's it. That's it for the show. Thank you so much for listening and for joining us on this Tuesday. We're going to bring you another one of these on Thursday. I don't remember who we have, so I can't even tease it here, but I bet it's going to be. Ooh, do I bet it's going to be good.

Brady
Oh, my God, it's Beth Stelling. It is gonna be good. Beth Stelling is hilarious and she also, like, plays adult field hockey.
Katie Nolan
So Beth has two international matches, like, in Brooklyn this coming weekend.
Brady
