Hello! It’s the podcast that’s slightly ashamed of their pimple popping fetish. Today, comedian Joey Avery joins Katie to talk about his love of Bay Area sports jerseys, the Rafael Devers trade to his beloved Giants, the long-awaited news that the San Jose Sharks mascot has been inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame, the F****** P******* winning the Stanley Cup, the Red Sox conducting an AI interview with a Front Office candidate, why Yankee Stadium sucks, Tyler Herro’s comments about not believing in any history before 1950, the joys (and impending shame) of watching pimple popping videos, PLUS fights in the Big3 and WNBA, Love Island, The Traitors, Noah Lyles vs Tyreek Hill and a whole lot more.

You know, summer isn't just for playing sports. It's for the conversations around sports, too. You know, the casual hangouts, whether they're inside in the air conditioning or out on the beach with fellow sports fans. Whatever kind of summer mood you're in, Starbucks has a beverage to match, like the Summer Berry Refresher, the unofficial drink of the summer. It's so good. It's sweet, but not too sweet. It's three berry flavors and it's everything I never would have thought I wanted, but absolutely do want. It's perfect for sipping while you catch up on last night's scores. No matter what, whether it's that drink or one of their other summer drinks, your summer favorites are ready at Starbucks. Heather is a nurse practitioner from UnitedHealthcare. We meet patients wherever they live. During a house call, she found Jack had an issue. Jack's blood pressure was dangerously high.

It was 217 over 110.

So they got Jack to the hospital and got him the help he needed. He had had a stent placed in his heart, preventing a massive heart attack.

Hey, Isabella, did you see an 80 year old drove a luxury Mercedes sedan down Rome's Spanish Steps and got stuck? Wait, what? Wait, what? First of all, what is that Spanish Steps, Isabella? I don't know. Isabella, please. I'm sorry. As an Italian, is this a landmark? Yeah, it's just stairs. It's just. I don't know, there's probably some history to it, but it's just. It's really just stairs. It's the people watching stairs that you sit on in Italy, in Rome, it's. I think it's near. I think they named him that because it's near, like the. The embassy. Man, you're really exposing me. Mom, turn the podcast off. It's okay. We're exposed together. The Spanish Steps have never been intended for motor vehicles is what this says. I was gonna say that was the first thing I thought of, is like, okay, well, if this is a thing that people stand on, name the steps that are. Is my follow up to that. The Spanish Steps take their name from the Spanish embassy to the Holy See, which is in the nearby square. They're built in the 1720s, Isabella, and they've long been a popular. This is what I said, a popular spot to people watch and hang out. So I was right. Yeah, it looks familiar. This was an 80 year old man driving a compact luxury Mercedes Benz A class sedan. Good for him. Early on Tuesday, which, if you read that, it's. That means usually late on Monday, doesn't it? Early. When they write early on Tuesday, you're like, were you coming back? But he was 80, so I don't know. Do 80 year olds party? I don't judge any of them who do. Tested negative for alcohol. Cited on the spot for driving down the monument. That must be a very specific. I'm ticketing you for driving down a landmark.
Isabella
Is he okay?
Katie Nolan
I think so. They didn't release his name. It's unclear if the car was his. That seems like a. I would just assume it was later removed by firefighters using a crane. Okay. Police did not respond to requests for more details about the dynamics of the apparent accident. And why not? I don't know. Palace intrigue. I can't know more about the 80 year old who drove his car down the stairs. Hope no one got hurt. I thought this was America. It was Italy. Yeah, it was Italy. Now I'm trying to do a lesson. Big hello, but it feels so strange to go, hi. So I don't know. Hello, welcome to the. Hi. Hi. That's it. Leave all that in. Hi, welcome to Casuals. This, the podcast that is. I mean, today is really about sports. The sportsy podcast for people that maybe don't have a lot of sportsy podcasts in their repertoire. I'm Katie Nolan and I just. Boy, do I just love this stuff. Can't get enough. I love sports. All types joined today, kind of for a second here by a couple of the casualties. We've got Chris Isabella obviously in the building. We couldn't get into the studio without her. I don't know how any of the buttons work. So you'd figure it out. I don't think I had to once. And then now that it's all gone, I deleted it and it won't be coming back. I am sorry. So you have to be with me forever. Okay. We also have a guest. Joey Avery's gonna be here in a sec. I'll tell you all about him. But I forgot to do this last time, so let me do it now. If you'd like. Reach out to us. Boy, do, we want to hear from you. And that's a gender neutral boy. The Casuals. Casuals with Katie Nolan. Gmail dot com. Voicemail is 646-801-0043 on IG and TikTok. We are at Casuals, the podcast, but I don't think. Are we doing a lot of listening on IG and TikTok. I feel like that should. That's where you can find our stuff for sure. But don't maybe reach out there. Are we checking those? I'm asking you guys because I'm not touching this stuff. No.
Isabella
I've looked at dms and usually I.
Katie Nolan
Don'T ever see stuff that they would now if I could. Chris, if I can get eye contact from you on this, I don't think of all the people checking the dms, it should be Isabella. I think maybe we shield her from telling you. That is just a thing. I'll say.
Isabella
I can.
Katie Nolan
I know you're off social media and check it out. I know you're off social media. What if we.
Isabella
I keep an eye on the emails for sure. But I guess you really need me.
Katie Nolan
And the voicemails, I think just reach out. Reach out to us in the other way, you know? Yeah.
Isabella
Emails are good.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
I read every single email.
Katie Nolan
So I haven't checked any of the emails. He does. Oh. And I should say, even if we're not always saying them on air, that's because I talk too much. He's. We're debriefing about them and discussing them and a lot of them are making it into rundowns. It's just. We should probably do a I'll voicemail or whatever soon because I love. Those are my favorite. And I'm gonna announce it. I'm announce it while he's not here so that he is almost held. Has to do it because now they know I want us to do. I told Brady I want us to do a live call in. Figure out how to do that and do like a live call in.
Isabella
That'd be fun. Would be fun.
Katie Nolan
Wouldn't that be fun to talk to our. Our fans are cool. Where are my. And what I'm supposed to be doing. This is the app here. This is the app. If you want to. Yeah, it's. We talked to Joey for a long time and I just came straight from the airport. If I may just vent to y' all. Straight from the airport. So I don't have a lot to yap about. The Brady. I mean, the Raffy Deveres story is obviously developing. Um, more things coming out. It's very fun watching people online. Sox fans go from like, no. Yes. No. Yes. No. It should be this. We're right. You're right. They're wrong. You're wrong. I'm like, I'm not going to change my opinion. I'm on Rafi's side. I'm a. I'm a fan of the players. I've never bought the jersey of somebody in a front office, so I've never felt like I could get through the rest of my week because of the money saved for my front office. It's the. The wins. The game on the field is all I care about. And Rafi Devers played that game for a long time with the team I love the most on the front of his jersey. And I never once heard anybody complain about him as a teammate until this, which I find a little convenient. And so I'm not updating the file on my opinion on Rafi based off of anything happening right now. I appreciate everything he did for my team, and I'm pissed he doesn't get to do that for my team anymore. And that sucks. I'm happy, I guess, that it went to. It didn't. He didn't go to the Florida Panthers of the. He's not a Yankee, you know, he's not that. The Florida Panthers are my Yankees, and I guess we'll get to that. But, like, congratulations to the Florida Panthers fans. You did it. You guys, your team's really good. Team's really good. Are they like, your Dodgers? That's what I was thinking. No, they're not. They're just the most recent pain. Like, they're not like, the Canadians are who we really hate. Bruins fans. And, like, I've got. I'm not a huge Maple Leafs gal, but that's a fun one because I feel like we keep pissing them off and they're like, the person we get to pick on. But the Panthers just, like, it annoyed me because of. It's Florida and they're not known to be rabid NHL fans. And they got this team that's, like, crazy good. And they were leaving games early and then having to try to come back in. It's like the. I critique them as fans, but. But, like, now they've won two Stanley Cups in a row, and I have to just go like, okay, you guys, you win. You win. Good. I'm happy for you. Brad Martian looks happy with a cup, and I think he deserves it. And he's so much fun when. When he's on his I just won the cup tour. You guys are really going to love this. So. And. And good. Enjoy it. Soak it up. Well, I somehow was talking about Des and went down. Oh, he. Cause he's not. He's with The Giants. So he's with Dan's team and I love Dan and he's going to bring Dan happiness. And the Giants haven't had a bat like this in a while, and he could be really good for them. It's just that I hate that he's mad at. And he has every right to be, but, like, we play the Giants Isabella this upcoming weekend. It's like, how dare they that I now have to watch him play. Like, I. I have to watch. And he's mad at us, so he's gonna want to crush us. And I'm happy for him, so I guess I want him to as well. I don't know. It's very confusing. It's very confusing. It's also very hard to have the podcast that's like, come on in, guys. Sports is awesome. Come on, come on. It's for everybody. And then just they watch me repeatedly get my dick kicked in where I'm just like, actually, I'm not. Okay. No, I promise. It's fun and cool. It's so cool. It is. It's when it's good. Oh, it's great. But you guys just missed when it was really good. For me. I'm on my downturn. I'm paying my dues. Okay. It's just like, my goodness.
Isabella
That's just why you have to split your allegiance across as many different sports and as many different teams as you can.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Because if you're only really rooting for one team and they suck.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Then your experience as a sports fan is going to be terrible for a long time. But if you're like, all right, you know what? I'm just gonna. I'm gonna follow this sport and this sport and this sport and this sport. Hopefully at least one of my many teams.
Katie Nolan
Hopefully one of these catches fire. Yeah. Hopefully one of these kindlings turns into a full blown fire. And hopefully not all at the same time, because now we have a different problem. Someone's got to put these fires out. I've lit them across the entire. That's when you quit on sports, you know? Yeah. When your house is on fire. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Anyway, that's a yap. That is the spirit of yap, guys. That was it. I don't even know what we talked about. Certainly not clippable, but it is what it is. And this conversation that we have is so Joey Avery. You've probably seen him in your algorithm. That's where I bumped into him first. He's from the Bay Area. He's a big sports fan. He loves the San Jose. San Jose Sharks. Sorry, Chris. I say the name of the team you love so little that I. I stumble over it still. But did that excite you when you saw you got another Sharks fan in the building?
Isabella
Absolutely. We could. There's. There's actually a specific story that I wanted to talk to him about, so we put it on the rundown, and we'll be. We'll be touching on it. A San Jose specific story that I'm looking forward to.
Katie Nolan
It's a deep sports story, too. You've got to have a lot of operational hockey knowledge to talk about how their mascot just made the hall of Fame. Also, after having discovered that the mascots have a hall of Fame, we got to get gritty in there. I think next year, if this is a yearly vote, which it appears that it is, I think we should get in on a campaign to get gritty in there because that's. Do they have this for other leagues? It's all leagues in one mascot. Hall of Fame, I believe. Oh, Central. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Ellie. Ellie's like, clearly, as soon as they. Yeah, that'll probably happen. If we could get the two of them in the same inductee class would actually be. Could potentially be the first step of the romantic comedy that I've written in my head where Ellie and Gritty are in love. Because I do think, and I don't know anything about how Ellie identifies. So if I'm missing something here, please don't take offense, but I think those two could be the key, the chaotic mascot first couple that we deserve east coast love. It's certainly something I'd be interested. I also don't know how Gritty identifies. Let me just say, as I'm thinking, thinking about it, I'm like, I don't know what gritty is, so anything could happen. And I think we should get those two into the hall of Fame. But as I was saying, Joey Avery is a very funny comedian. As he mentions at the end, he just filmed his first special entirely self produced. So I think we're a couple months out or whatever from it dropping, but that will be out. And you can follow him on socials at. Joey Avery. He's very funny. We talk about a lot of sports. We talk about reality tv. What don't we talk about? Cheese. Anyway, here it is. Let's take a break, and then we'll get into Joey Avery. Bye. Katie Nolan
Yeah. Good to have you. We've got a lot to get to. You're a big sports fan. I. My number one takeaway from seeing you on social media is you always have the best merch. You always have good sports merch on in your clips.
Isabella
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
I'm always like, oh, fuck, where's that jacket from? Like, where are you finding this stuff?
Isabella
I take it very seriously and I've made like Bay Area sports a lot of my style, so I feel like I can't. I have trouble wearing other teams stuff, but I'm willing to get like ultra vintage with Bay Area because I feel like I can defend it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
I almost wore a San Jose Giants jersey in here, which is. That's deep. That's single a, you know.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
But it looks cool.
Katie Nolan
It does look cool.
Isabella
And like, it is hard. You got to find the right cool because if you're wearing an uncool jersey, then you're just kind of weird. But if you got the cool. You know what I mean? If you got the cool, then people like, damn, what you doing?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, you have to find the good merch for the. How do you feel about people who wear merch for teams that aren't their teams?
Isabella
I think that's, you know, that's. If you're not white, I think that's fine.
Katie Nolan
Political answers coming. I'm very polite.
Isabella
If I said no, I feel like that's like anti black, which I'm not really.
Katie Nolan
Why is that, like a black thing to wear? Merchant isn't your team. I didn't know that.
Isabella
How are you gonna match to the Jays and look sick?
Katie Nolan
Okay. You're right.
Isabella
And I respect that a hundred percent.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
But I just feel like for me, I can't do. I used to do it, but now I'm just like, I. I don't want that. I don't want that head nod. You know, I'm wearing a Pacers thing or someone. And then someone's like, how about nemart? But imagine they weren't in the finals. And then I'd be like, I don't. I don't. That's just that I like yellow.
Katie Nolan
I just like the colors.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Which is perfectly acceptable and fine.
Isabella
Totally fine.
Katie Nolan
But yeah, I feel like I'm specifically thinking of, like, people who, like, tour for their. Probably just comics, but I'm trying not to make it about comics who just will throw on any team's merch. And you're like, what are you doing? You don't like that team, do you? Have no loyalty.
Isabella
And I realized I just lied because I was. I was in Durham and I went to a Durham Bulls game and I bought the jersey. It's a movie.
Katie Nolan
It's a movie. Life was a movie.
Isabella
What I like to do is like, I'm going to Cleveland this weekend. Last time I was there, I wore my Warriors.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And they like, I got on stage and they booed me immediately. And they have.
Katie Nolan
They have to.
Isabella
But then they all came up in line after, and they're like, you know, I respect the hell out of that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
I was like, good, good.
Katie Nolan
You got to do it.
Isabella
Stand on business.
Katie Nolan
Exactly. That's what. That's what Justin Bieber always says.
Isabella
He says a lot these days. Is he okay?
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I don't know. But then part of me goes, is it kind of our fault? And probably.
Isabella
Sure.
Katie Nolan
You know.
Isabella
Yeah. I didn't send him to those parties.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, no, no, of course not.
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
I mean, I did.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
You didn't.
Isabella
You called the Uber.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. I said, hey, you got to go to this.
Isabella
I hope he's well, though. He's got a beautiful voice, and. But I sure.
Katie Nolan
Like, he's voice of an angel.
Isabella
Voice of an angel.
Katie Nolan
Voice of an angel of difficult life. I can't imagine. Not to get too sidetracked on this, but I always felt like, growing up, I always felt really bad for Selena Gomez. It's like, I cannot imagine dating the popular boy when he's literally the popular boy. It's not like the popular boy in school, which is hard enough.
Isabella
It's like, there's literally girls, like, tearing.
Katie Nolan
Down your monster because they're like, you.
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
They want you to die. And they're 12, and that's crazy.
Isabella
Yeah. The thing that I hate about what's happening with Bieber and this happens a lot, is someone will clearly be not doing well, and they're kind of strung out, but then they, like, look amazing because he's, like, cut, and he has tattoos and he's got a shaved head. I'm like, I do one mental breakdown to look like that.
Katie Nolan
What? I wouldn't give half my mind every.
Isabella
Even when he's losing, he's still winning.
Katie Nolan
You're a hockey fan, right?
Isabella
I am.
Katie Nolan
So we do have to. We do have to start with the bad news.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Which is that the Stanley cup, as it says here in our rundown, because my producers respect me and I'm a Bruins fan, it says, the Stanley cup has been won by a team with.
Isabella
A player that you may know.
Katie Nolan
Right. The F asterisk, P asterisks have repeated as Stanley cup champions with a 51 game six domination of the Oilers. Now, a lot of stats in here about Sam Reinhardt scoring four goals because he was the first player to do so in a Cup clincher since Babe Die. I know. You remember this?
Isabella
Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
In 1922, brother. Back when the Toronto Saint Pats beat the Vancouver Millionaires.
Isabella
See, these are jerseys. I would buy.
Katie Nolan
We should probably locate that merch and see if it's good looking. We'd have to upgrade it probably to billionaires at this point.
Isabella
Yeah. But might get shot wearing that. I'd stick with millionaires.
Katie Nolan
You're so right. We're the Vancouver Thousandaires.
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
It was also the first four goal game in any final since Maurice rocket Rashard in 1957. The first four goal postseason game in Panthers history. Two of those were empty net goals. Okay. Let's just call it what it is.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Four goals. Two of them no goalie.
Isabella
Yeah. It's like I'm fine. Happy for you. I. I played hockey. The empty net's an exciting time. Yes. And you.
Katie Nolan
How long till when?
Isabella
I like halfway through high school I had to quit cuz I was like, you know baseball I actually had a chance at and so that I had to put all my effort into like year round baseball. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
They put you in a box and.
Isabella
It sucked because they're kind of the same season, which sucks. But hockey is so fun.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
It's such a fun game to play.
Katie Nolan
It's intense.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Intense game to play. I'm from a hockey family, so my brother played in high school.
Isabella
It gets more intense around that age because like I had to quit. Probably around 14, 15 and that age you're still kind of just bouncing off one another. You're not getting like hard concussions.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And there's no real plays. I loved. There was no, it wasn't like, oh, here they're trying to teach us breakouts. I'm like, give me the.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, like totally. As soon as it's on my stick, I'm going.
Isabella
I'm going, I'm going. But the empty net goal, like it counts. But it's like stat. The stat totally counts.
Katie Nolan
But let's not trip over ourselves. First four goal, get just you. It's fine.
Isabella
Yeah. Context matters.
Katie Nolan
That's right. Thank you. Thank you. We're both haters here. I hate this team so much. Sam Bennett won the Con Smythe, which is. Is good for him, I guess. Playoff MVP. He had five goals and an assist in the finals. 15 total goals in the playoffs. Tied for second most in a single postseason since 2000.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Panthers outscored their opponents by 33 goals this postseason, which is the best by any team since the 94.95 Devils. Remember them? How do you feel about the Stanley cup being in Florida?
Isabella
Well, I hate it. There's been so many Florida Stanley Cups and it's absolutely disgusting. It feels. Feels like they don't care. No one cares. Hockey feels so regional.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Because when you see, you know, and I, I get to go to Edmonton all the time. I love the people of Edmonton. I actually have a great time out there. When you see their home games, there's people filling the streets, you know. And then in Fort Lauderdale, it's Fort Lauderdale. Is that even a place? That's insane. Like just. Is it Miami or not? What is this? But the problem is, as a San Jose Sharks fan, when we were always going through, you know, our deep playoff runs, everyone be like, what's the cup gonna go to San Jose? And I'd like. You don't know about, don't speak about. San Jose is the. We have a great hockey culture. So I'm sure the fans down there are pumped and they're all at the elbow room getting hammered.
Katie Nolan
So happy for all of them. All 15 of them. I'm just kidding. I know there's more of you now. They love to say that there's more of them now. And that's probably cuz you've won two cups in a row, so I'd sure hope.
Isabella
Yeah. A fan base that's built on very recent success is the opposite of what people love.
Katie Nolan
That's right.
Isabella
The fan base that's tortured is exciting.
Katie Nolan
And they just haven't been tortured enough. Tough for me.
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
But the thing is, is they are. And soak this up. They're so good. Yeah, they're so good. It sucks. The margin of victory in the, in these finals have been. It's been like, oh, okay, so that game's over. Yeah. And I hate it. I hate it so much. But I saw Brad Marchant, a picture of him this morning. My dear sweet baby Brad. Holding the cup or sitting in a truck with it. And he had like a. I think he had a beer under his arm.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
A. It looked like a hard seltzer, but it might be like an energy drink, a coffee and a water. And I was like, that's a guy.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That's ready to go.
Isabella
A guy who's getting it. So I'm not happy for the fans at all, but I am happy for the players on that team because like, you know, the players get sent wherever and they're living their life. They get.
Katie Nolan
I hate most of these guys. Personally, to me, Yeah, I hate them. That's a healthier Sam Bennett can off, you know, forever.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Matthew Tkachuk. I want to rip the thing out of his mouth that he. The mouth guard.
Isabella
But what about when he's playing for Team usa.
Katie Nolan
No. Still no.
Isabella
Really?
Katie Nolan
Because I can't get over it because I'm petty and that's a character flaw.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
But it's one I embrace.
Isabella
That's fair.
Katie Nolan
It's just who I am at this point.
Isabella
It's called being a sports.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
I'm not changing at a high level.
Katie Nolan
I have to be this way.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
This is how I care.
Isabella
You know, it's what move. It's what drives this entire.
Katie Nolan
That's right. Otherwise nothing means anything. And why am I here?
Isabella
It is genuinely pointless until you identify your own mental illness that allows you to be a sports fan. And once you embrace that, you realize this beautiful, insane world we've all built.
Katie Nolan
It's exactly right.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
It's kind of the whole thing. You have to be a little bit important. It's kind of the whole thing.
Isabella
Otherwise it's like, oh, this was pointless. But then you can be like. But like what does matter? Like does a lot. You know, Nothing is right now real until we decided it.
Katie Nolan
Exactly. I have to put too much of my emotions into this.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Because of all the other things I could put into. Feel very volatile at the moment.
Isabella
You didn't want to do Iran versus Israel. The rundown.
Katie Nolan
Page six. I just don't know if we'll get to it.
Isabella
Page six.
Katie Nolan
Because it's gossip. What's going on with Iran? Will they or won't they? You know what I mean?
Isabella
Oh my God. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
God. Just a brutal. Just a brutal situation that. Are we. Are we involved yet? I keep. That's what I've been doing all day.
Isabella
No, I don't think so. I've been. I've been doom scrolling. I had multi view on and I had the. I had the. I had the hockey game and then like three news stations. So I was doing like World War 3 and the Hockey at the same time. And none of it made me happy.
Katie Nolan
No, none of it.
Isabella
But then I put on the Giants game and I saw Devers.
Katie Nolan
Okay. Are we gonna do.
Isabella
We have to.
Katie Nolan
I was gonna stick with hockey for one more second.
Isabella
Let you know. Let's continue.
Katie Nolan
In case you don't know this yet.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That S.J. sharkey has been named to the mascot hall of fame.
Isabella
Oh, that's. That's important.
Katie Nolan
That's huge.
Isabella
That's important. And I go way back with sj.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Sharkey as well. Because he would come to like the, like the kids, you know, whose parents wanted to throw down.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
They get Sharkey for the birthday party.
Katie Nolan
Sick.
Isabella
That was big Business in our area. Yeah. He'd come out. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
You had rich friends.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Cool. There's some money in that area.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Tech money.
Katie Nolan
True. Yeah, that is true. So Sharkey and you're familiar. Sj, Sean John.
Isabella
What is that Sean John Sharkey. Yeah. He was parties, but. But, you know, he's a fine animal. He's. And now, like, when I go to games, I'll get, like, DMS from Sharky, and he'll be like, yo, let's do a skit or something. And I'm like, I can't have you be a person. I.
Katie Nolan
It's like, can. How can you type and not speak?
Isabella
Yeah, I need.
Katie Nolan
Am I talking to you with the furry hands on?
Isabella
I'm like, are you send pics? What's going on in the locker room, bro?
Katie Nolan
This is only the third NHL mascot to be inducted into the Mascot hall of Fame.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Isn't that crazy? Yeah, I think that's a slight. Is he down here? Where's. Where's Gritty? Is he down here?
Isabella
Oh, Gritty is. There's one behind you as well back there. Yeah, Gritty's new, though, right?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, but he deserves to be in there.
Isabella
You got to be a phenom to get in over Sharky. Sharkey's been hot out of the gate.
Katie Nolan
You be, you know, the one from the Canadians. I don't. I can't stand youp and Tommy Hawk from the Blackhawks are the other two.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Do you. Would you like to know the mascot hall of Fame class going in with one clarification?
Isabella
I'm imagining Tommy Hawk is a bird. Or do we know what he is?
Katie Nolan
I I hope so. Let's go ahead and say, before we.
Isabella
Google it, it definitely stands for Tomahawk.
Katie Nolan
I And. And I hope so.
Isabella
Yeah. Okay.
Katie Nolan
Chris, can you Google that for us while we. And then we'll just. Or maybe should I just do it? It is a bird. Okay, great. It confirmed it's a bird. I don't know what kind of bird. No, that's okay, Chris. You know what kind of bird that is? It's got to be a hawk. Hawk. It has to be a hawk. Speaking of hawks, blitz. The Seattle Seahawk.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Got in this year. Fred Bird from the Cardinals.
Isabella
Oh, the Arizona.
Katie Nolan
No, the St. Louis. Okay, that makes sense, but it's a. It's. I don't like the way Fred Bird looks.
Isabella
Yeah, I've not seen him.
Katie Nolan
You have. I know you have.
Isabella
Okay. Okay. I'm looking forward.
Katie Nolan
I know. Oh, wait. Perfect.
Isabella
Yeah, I'm Nervous. Oh, Jesus Christ.
Katie Nolan
Something about him.
Isabella
There's a lot going on there. Not gonna note the. Okay. His face is green. Had to double check.
Katie Nolan
Oh, it is.
Isabella
Yeah, I think so.
Katie Nolan
I don't know.
Isabella
There's a lot there.
Katie Nolan
Good for him.
Isabella
It's just like, I can hear him.
Katie Nolan
Yes. Yeah. Also in is Sebastian the Ibis from the U. Yeah.
Isabella
That's a good one because I used to play, you know, in NCAA football. You could play all mascot games.
Katie Nolan
So fun.
Isabella
Yeah, so. So I'd play ball with them. Syracuse guy, I would hope is in there.
Katie Nolan
He probably is already not in this class, though. Yes, he is. Okay. The last one in this class I've never seen before in my life. Toro from the Houston, Texas. I've never seen hall of fame where.
Isabella
Yeah, I. I like when they make him, like, oddly sexy. Like, he's, like, built. You know what I mean? He's like.
Katie Nolan
All right, Isab. Whoa. Just asking. Would. Pass. Pass. You gotta grab him by the horns.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
See if he bucks you off.
Isabella
I. I'm wondering if there's any, like, long term snubs, like, if there's a mascot that's been around or has been, like, trying 1900 and just, like, can't. They're just like, you don't have what it takes.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, it's fan voted. But here's my thing. No one told us. Yeah, Like, I'm not on the email thread.
Isabella
The people who vote for that are, like, top grade freaks.
Katie Nolan
125,000 votes were cast. That's quite a bit.
Isabella
Yeah. I mean, but those are the. Those are the sports fans that make me, as a sports fan, go. Jesus. Whoa, dude.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
All right.
Katie Nolan
You're campaigning on behalf of the mess.
Isabella
Oh, we've made this your entire personality.
Katie Nolan
Oh, cool.
Isabella
Okay, well, that's cool. Well, anything to fill the voice.
Katie Nolan
Hey, well, that's. That's cool. Also makes you go. So are you one of those.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Isabella
Not there's anything wrong with that.
Katie Nolan
But if it is sexual for you, I think you have to disclose.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I don't think you get to vote it.
Isabella
There's a lot of furries just, you know, punching that ticket and flicking the old. But yeah.
Katie Nolan
Flicking the old horn be.
Isabella
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
Okay, we'll talk about dinner. Des. So you're a Giants fan.
Isabella
I am.
Katie Nolan
So on Tuesday, Raphael. Des. Ever heard of him? Had his introductory press conference with San Francisco and said he's willing to play anywhere.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Which makes perfect sense to Me, I'm not going to be mad at him for that. He said the Giants brought me here for a reason. I'll give 100%. I'm now happy to be a part of the team. Then he made his debut. Two hits, an rbi. Lost to the Guardians, though. You lost?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Emmanuel Classe is just so nasty. And then the Giants will host the Red Sox in a three game series beginning on Friday night.
Isabella
Oh, we're hosting them for some reason I thought it was at Fenway, which would have been. But to you, I saw. I did note that.
Katie Nolan
A lovely field.
Isabella
One of the best.
Katie Nolan
One of the best.
Isabella
Jewel crown of the city.
Katie Nolan
Really beautiful.
Isabella
Really nice. Crown jewels, actually. How you say that?
Katie Nolan
It was jewel comma, Crown Park.
Isabella
Jewel crown of the city.
Katie Nolan
Of the city.
Isabella
You heard it here first.
Katie Nolan
First.
Isabella
And never again would you.
Katie Nolan
How. How happy are you?
Isabella
I'm pretty pumped.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
We haven't like. We've been like dying to spend money on a bat forever.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And we have Matt Chapman, which is why he's. He's not gonna play third. But it just feels like we haven't had one of these moments. You know, it's always. You're a little like the realist in you. Does go okay. We're, you know, that's gonna be money down the road. That's for real.
Katie Nolan
It is quite a bit of cash.
Isabella
The vibes are just so great because, you know, Farhan, who was president of baseball operations, came over from the Dodgers and the vibes had just not been good there for a while. And now Buster Posey's running everything. And he came on the telecast last night and was just talking with Kruken Kype about Devers coming and how all the players came to the press conference and how like they wanted to bring him in to show the current team that they believed in them and how good the vibes are. And it's an uphill battle in. In a division with the D team of all time, the Dodgers, but just crazy. An absolute disgrace.
Katie Nolan
And now with SH Back pitching because they needed to get a little bit better.
Isabella
We were right about World War II, and I think that. And I've only said that in regards to SH Who I want to love. I flew to Anaheim just to watch him play. But now he's a Dodger, so I must hate. But it just feels good. And it feels like it. It took a team that looked plucky into a team that's like. Like, hey, we might have something here.
Katie Nolan
A dependable bat I feel like is something you Guys really needed. And now you. And now you have.
Isabella
Now we have. And the other thing. And this is probably going to make you even more sad, is, you know, even if we don't win the World Series, obviously we got our three. One of the great dynasties ever. But now it gives me, as a baseball fan who's heading into a lot of months of not as robust of a sports calendar, it gives me something to tune into every night. It gives me excitement, a reason to want to buy a ticket, a reason to tune in. With that being said, how are you feeling about the Red Sox?
Katie Nolan
Miserable. I look, I think, like, the pivot that the Red Sox are trying to do now is like, let's focus on our young guys, because we just called up Roman Anthony, the number one prospect in baseball. Thank God that was done before the Devers thing, although I'm sure that was probably on purpose. We got Marcela Meyer, who's also young. Christian Campbell, like, there's a. We have a lot of young guys. It's just like. It didn't make sense. It didn't make any sense. It felt, to me, very personal.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
For Breslow, a guy that I'm like, okay, yeah. And then just combined with all the other shit around it that's coming out about the front office.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I just feel like we had just swept the Yankees.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
The weekend before.
Isabella
The timing was not two out of.
Katie Nolan
Three against the Yankees like Devers has been. You know, for all the drama about what position he would play and yada yada, he had had owned the DH spot. He was like, okay, if this is all I'm gonna do, this is all I'm gonna do, but I'm gonna do it well. And he was.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And then just as I'm dunking, like, as I'm tweeting a little broom at Yankees fans, the news drops that, oh, actually, today's a really bad day for you. And I just was like, what the. So I haven't watched a socks game since, granted. It's been like, what, two days?
Isabella
Yeah. It hasn't been that long. Do you. You think so anytime something like this happens, you get off a lot of money.
Katie Nolan
I don't care.
Isabella
I don't care.
Katie Nolan
It's not my money.
Isabella
Right. So.
Katie Nolan
It's not my money.
Isabella
Right, Right.
Katie Nolan
Congrats on saving it. I do not care. Spend it. Spend it.
Isabella
But you got to care. I mean, the ownership groups, they're. You know, I just worry about their financial situation.
Katie Nolan
I'm just always really worried that they're.
Isabella
Gonna I'm about as worried as Luigi. Yeah, but, yes, but I guess what I'm saying is, if you have this freed up capital, what's the sort of thing you would need to bring you back in?
Katie Nolan
Oh, I'm not ready yet.
Isabella
You're not ready yet?
Katie Nolan
I don't know. I loved him. He was, look, he was like, supposedly. And yes, this is coming from a lady who just buys it all, Everything they tell me. I'm like, okay, this was like our make good for Mookie, where they were like, you know, we, we clearly did it wrong in the past and you all didn't like it. We're going to extend this guy to a long term, expensive deal to show he's our guy and he's here forever.
Isabella
And the problem is everyone's pissed when a good guy leaves. But then you're like, are we creating a culture of this? Because the recent history for you guys is not good. And it is weird for an incredibly rich team that had such an interesting run of success.
Katie Nolan
You know, but, you know, I just am trying to hit the year that I'm pretty sure the year we shipped Nomar off, I think the next year was when we went.
Isabella
One of the greatest, like, oh, yeah, pre bat routines of all time.
Katie Nolan
So much. I also love, I don't know if he's still doing it, but Bryce Harper, when he does the, like, yeah, tap, tap, tap, slide up. Yeah, it's good stuff.
Isabella
He's a dog. I, I, he was on the same travel baseball team as me.
Katie Nolan
Excuse me.
Isabella
Yes. But for like a weekend, because, well, he was such a stud that he was playing for like, 15 teams at once.
Katie Nolan
Crazy.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So did you ever play?
Isabella
I didn't play with him. I literally, like, wasn't at that tournament. And then someone's like, dude, we got this kid, Bryce Harper, and like, he's crazy. He just, like, hit all these home runs, but he plays for, like, every team in the state. And he was just like, I'm so burnt out, like, even at that age.
Katie Nolan
So much baseball.
Isabella
Yeah, a lot of baseball. But it worked out for him. He's doing well.
Katie Nolan
I heard that. Yeah, I played, I played some money. I played softball against Terry Francona's daughter once.
Isabella
Oh, Jerry Francona.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, that is her name. With a G. Like the Spice Girl.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Cool. We'll do this. Another Red Sox story. Yahoo sports reporter Jun Lee. I don't know if you've seen. He's been absolutely eviscerating us. Just turning our organization inside out for all to see hot. On NBC Sports, Boston's Arbella early edition on Tuesday reported that the Red Sox used an AI bot to conduct interviews with a baseball operations job candidate. Not one round, not two rounds, five rounds of interviews where this person did not talk to another person in the Red Sox organization.
Isabella
Forward thinking, you know, I think the Red Sox are looking at a lot of these teams. Like, everyone's saying, oh, the Dodgers use these advanced analytics. And I think the Red Sox said, hold my beer. Yeah, we're gonna do advanced interviews with an AI.
Katie Nolan
Advanced interview.
Isabella
That's what AI is, what it's short for. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I look and I'm a. I'm a real. I feel the oldest when AI comes up.
Isabella
Do you ever speak to the compute?
Katie Nolan
No.
Isabella
You've never talked to it? A little bit.
Katie Nolan
I've maybe done, like. I don't even want to say, hey, S. Word. I don't want to say her name because then she listens.
Isabella
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. No, I mean, like a real chat gbt. Like, I got a question. Like, can you come up with a rundown for today?
Katie Nolan
No. And I. Here's the thing. I think that I'm going to get lapped because of this. Like, I know pretty quickly I'm losing out on things I could, like efficiency that I could have. But I just. I don't like it. I don't like it. I don't trust it. I've seen the movies. This doesn't work out. We don't, like, ride off into the sunset as besties with the computers. We're not.
Isabella
Oh, I think that's where a lot of people are turning is. You hear, like, oh, it can be good. Like, I got. I got in for a little bit because someone was like, you could use it as, like, a nutritionist. And so I'd start asking it questions about, like, what I should eat. And it's really nice. You. And it gas me up. And I'd be like, hey, I'm sorry, computer. I Like, I know we've been eating protein all week, but I just got hammered and ate McDonald's all night. And they'd be like, that's okay, man. Just get back out there. I'd be like, man, you think so? You know, and that's how they get you.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, it is how they get.
Isabella
Because it is dark. Yeah, they. They make you think you. Because they're. They're sycophants. They tell you what you want to hear, and then all of a sudden you're like, I just wanted to feel better and you talk to a machine that's guided to tell you that, and then gets dark. And then I realize I'm like, developing an eating or disorder because I don't want to disappoint the machine that works for me. And it turns out I was just interviewing for the Red Sox the entire.
Katie Nolan
Time, and now I've got this job with the baseball operations, and I don't know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm just. I'm afraid of AI. And that's. And that's my truth, and I will speak it.
Isabella
You're right about it. And like, it's just too much.
Katie Nolan
It's too. I'm watching like, rich people be surrounded by sycophants who coddle them. And it's not making me like those people more. It ruins them as people like, like entertainers, artists that I, that I like. When they get to a certain level and are surrounded by people going like, yeah, dude, great idea. Even when it's the dumbest idea ever, they lose touch. And then you're like, oh, they're not funny anymore. I don't like them anymore.
Isabella
Yeah. And so talking about comedians.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, kind of. But. But not trying to name the one specifically I'm thinking about.
Isabella
And I gonna need that off the air.
Katie Nolan
It's just like, how could we think that giving this to the average person is gonna be the best option? Also, I saw a thing recently about how Reddit might be giving people ocd, because people. That's for sure terrifying. Because people that have OCD are going into subreddits and acting out their OCD behavior.
Isabella
Literally know a person whose life was ruined by that.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
Covet hit. And then she was. Started being like, oh, I have this. And then went on and OCD out with the OCD people on the OCD forum. And then like, literally, like, left our, like, friend. Like all this.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
So it, like, it can happen.
Katie Nolan
And so to know that that was happening with real people that were suffering from a mental illness, imagining then those people using ChatGPT.
Isabella
Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
And Chachi PT being like, keep going, Queen. You got this is terrifying to me.
Isabella
Yes. And also, like, society's, you know, ruthless fight for the most efficient way to do things that just, like, cast people out left and right is going to make things very weird.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
But. But what if you lose? This is how we get in every situation. It's like, this is how we basically, like, well, we have to ruin the environment, because what if China wins the AI battle and we're just like, doesn't matter what the potential ramifications of anything are, because if you're not first, you're last. Damn right. And then. And then you go, well, that made me feel good.
Katie Nolan
I just don't understand how in any capacity, you can be like, let's put someone through five rounds of interviewing with a computer before we sit down to talk to them.
Isabella
So were they just reading the transcripts?
Katie Nolan
It sounds like they were asked a question, and then you would record yourself answering the question. I don't. It. It's. I don't think it was literally like, hello, I am. Hello, I'm baseball, but baseball, but here to talk to you.
Isabella
Yeah. Because the voice never convinces me, but when they're. When the computer's typing to you, you're like, oh, this feels kind of.
Katie Nolan
Dude. I had an experience with. Not to fully go off the rails, but whatever. Home Depot, like, customer service the other day, that made me want to end it all.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
They go like, hey, you can call us anytime, by the way, if anything's wrong with your order. You can call us any time. So I was like, oh, I don't want to to. But I. My dad's grill didn't get delivered for Father's Day. I'm the worst daughter on earth, right? So I'm like, dad, let me change.
Isabella
You were getting your dad a grill? That's crazy. I'm like, I'll take you to a game. Minor league, a better experience. It's truly.
Katie Nolan
He. Yeah, he picked it out. He sent me the link. I didn't research it at all. I just went, bloop. But it didn't show up. So I call him and I get an AI guy. How can I help you? Yeah, tells me the order. I'm like, I just want to help with my order. He tells me the estimated delivery date is. And he reads, yesterday's date date. So I'm like, okay, great.
Isabella
Thanks. Got that.
Katie Nolan
That's not it. That day came and went, so I need an up. What I'm calling for is an update. And he was just like, me, me, me. So I hung up on him. Then it's like, do you want to text us? I was like, what does that mean? It. Then there's an AI te. It comes up in your text messages. Have you used these with brands where it'll say, like, it's Home Depot and you're chatting with them? And I go, hi, my. Here's my order number. Where is it? And it goes, hi, can I have your phone number? And I said, no, you're texting me. I said, no, you have my order number.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And they were like, well, we need to look up your order. Can I have your phone number? And I said, you're texting me and you have my. What's the point of the order number? Yeah, it's to look up the order.
Isabella
I. I appreciate your fight though, when the robot wars come, because when they asked me for my personal information, I'm like, here's my social. Here's a shirt. Here's a shirtless pic. Because I want the thing done and I don't have time. But that's, that's not a good take. But I'm just like, yeah, whatever. Like, come on, give me have your number.
Katie Nolan
Texting.
Isabella
I know, but I'm like, the machine.
Katie Nolan
Machine number, it's unique to your company. If this doesn't mean anything to you, who does it mean anything to?
Isabella
Yeah, but, but we got to feed it into the algo.
Katie Nolan
I'm giving you my phone number. Then you'll just text me with deals and I'll click a link and I'll, I'll be like, dan, please act. I don't know how much baseball you're watching, but Dan Plezack on MLB Network got got by one of those toll text messages, you know, where they're like.
Isabella
Oh, they all the time.
Katie Nolan
All the time. But they're like, it's 17 enough to make you click and go, I'll just pay that off so they don' me down. Which he did and he gave it 4 of his credit.
Isabella
Oh, yeah, that's not good. They're getting really good at scams because I'll get. Because I have a public profile that I get invited on all these podcasts. Do you get those?
Katie Nolan
No, this isn't real.
Isabella
This, by the way, this is a simulation.
Katie Nolan
This is just my mental.
Isabella
I get. I've been invited on the Drew Barrymore show like 14 times and like all these random things, but I'm like, I can tell this isn't real. Cuz you know what? I don't know. Maybe I should be on Drew. True.
Katie Nolan
But like, wait, we can just simulate.
Isabella
It makes sense. Yeah, it feels good to be here now. I want to go on. I'm now ready to get scammed.
Katie Nolan
God damn, she really sits so close. Yeah, but it, you know, she's had a life too.
Isabella
It's her thing.
Katie Nolan
Justin Biebered her as well, I think.
Isabella
For a little babe. Little bead.
Katie Nolan
Remember when the, during the pandemic when she went outside and did that rain video and we Left when she was was like, oh, rain. It's amazing. It's raining.
Isabella
Oh, let her be free.
Katie Nolan
She is so free.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So free.
Isabella
Yeah. The problem is when we let them be free and then we watch how caged they had felt like I was letting her being free.
Katie Nolan
Jesus Christ. That poor thing.
Isabella
And it's like, damn, she really showing box on wheat.
Katie Nolan
I'm always team Britney. I grew up with that girl. I've watched everybody yell at her her whole life. Yeah, the poor thing. Whatever we did to her, we did it. It was us. I was with Drew. Drew was allowed to be free until she crossed that picket line and everybody was like, drew, what's up, babe? You're not supposed to host a show when the writers are on strike, my love. Yeah, she was being free.
Isabella
She's like, I'm free of the union.
Katie Nolan
I stand with the union. I just stand with them over here.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Oh, this is good news. The Yankees were shut out for a franchise record tying third straight time for nothing to lose to the Angels. Oh, I gotta go back to the MLB store then. That's down the street because they. The guy that works there tried to talk about me to me about the Red Sox when I bought my Raphael Devers City Connect jersey that's now just in my closet. 200 bucks. 200 bucks.
Isabella
We wore our City Connects in his debut. He looked really good.
Katie Nolan
Do you like those?
Isabella
No. No. Well, yes and no. They came out and I was kind of like, eh. But then like I see him on the field and I'm like, kind of fun. Like some of the guys look great in them. Like young, who with a little purple going on is like kind of fire dude.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I. They're better than last. The last ones you had with that G on the front.
Isabella
Yeah. You know, I got psyoped by those though, because like I read the. You know how they write the whole thing and I'm like the city dude. And the same thing with the new ones. They're like, like, they're like we. We used like, it's like the grooves of a record to pay homage to, you know? Hate Stream.
Katie Nolan
You could never be a teacher because every. You're. All the assignments handed into you would be just.
Isabella
And I'd be like, so smart.
Katie Nolan
I'm sold on this.
Isabella
Yeah, no, I'm kind of an idiot sometimes.
Katie Nolan
No, that's. I'm just saying you bought into the hype that's. They gave you.
Isabella
But I want to. But I didn't buy. But I didn't buy any of Them because I. I do believe. Believe when I'm. When I'm buying my insane closet of things. I think a little bit of a look back when you have clarity.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Is helpful. Oh, damn. The jerseys from the 90s were kind of cool or like I've been getting into. I just bought some sh. I just. I think the algorithm knows when I'm drunk.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And it sends me like old giant stuff. And I just bought some shirt the other night out at a bar and it's just a giant photo of Barry Bonds smoking a cigar that says the greatest of all time. And I'm like, yeah, I got it.
Katie Nolan
Well, that's obviously.
Isabella
Yeah. Okay. Well done.
Katie Nolan
Have you gotten got on any of those? Have you like ordered a shirt that then you later found out like that wasn't a real website? You just clicked on a link?
Isabella
Thankfully, no. I'm pretty good. The sports ones, I cuz I look at what they actually have and what the pricing is and whether the terms and conditions are in Chinese and that.
Katie Nolan
Helps a little bit. That's really smart. So anyway, as we were saying, the Yankees got shut out, but they lost to the Angels third consecutive game. That's great. I just like to sit in that for a bit. Little bit.
Isabella
Is Judge still having a historic season? Because I checked in when he was around 400 but I haven't been watching.
Katie Nolan
A lot of years. So last I saw he. People were getting really mad because literally his last at bat that I watched with my eyes, he was intentionally walked and that his average took a ding and it was the lowest it had been all season. It was like 380 or something.
Isabella
Like why would your average take.
Katie Nolan
I don't know.
Isabella
It just. It's just. Just a non at bat. Is it your on base percentage goes up and then it should be a non.
Katie Nolan
People were mad. They were booing.
Isabella
Well, I have no empathy for people who think he got gets intentionally walked. Because the greatest of all time certainly did with the cigar.
Katie Nolan
With a cigar out here, Lar. And Judge, the engine that makes the offense go went zero for four with three strikeouts.
Isabella
That'll ding your business.
Katie Nolan
Is that a. Is three a golden sombrero or is that four?
Isabella
Think four, because I think three is a hat trick.
Katie Nolan
Oh yeah.
Isabella
And then four is a golden sombrero.
Katie Nolan
Makes sense. And then five would be a platinum sombrero because I know there's one of those.
Isabella
I would imagine so. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Over his last five contests, he's now two for his last 19 with one home run, two walks and 12 strikeouts, that's. It's like they knew what you would ask. They knew the answer for you in the.
Isabella
That's the law of averages. Literally, like, he's a great player and he's having a great season. He's not going to hit.400.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Let him get a little. Let him chill out for a sec. Better now than later if you're a Yankees fan.
Isabella
Yeah. But they don't body on that guy.
Katie Nolan
I mean, my God, it's like him sh. There's like a couple guys in the league that when they get in the box, you're like, that's an action figure looking at a baseball. Action figure.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
They're just like.
Isabella
They are crazy. And then when they have a weird stance, too, like, stance.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
You're like, what is this?
Katie Nolan
What is this? How is this gonna work?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And then it does.
Isabella
And then it does.
Katie Nolan
He's back, too. Stanton's back from big bodies. Was that his elbow that he hurt?
Isabella
I think he had both elbows. I think he had like a double tendonitis sort of thing. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Oh, yeah. Because I remember they were saying that the torpedo bats that everybody was freaking out about at the beginning of the season, they were like, you know, Stanton used one of these last year and now his elbows are all up.
Isabella
Oh.
Katie Nolan
So, like, careful.
Isabella
Interesting. But I don't know, everything evens out.
Katie Nolan
Causation, correlation. They may not actually be, you know.
Isabella
But it's fun to blame. Are they still allowed to use them?
Katie Nolan
I think so. I don't think.
Isabella
I haven't heard anything about them in a long time.
Katie Nolan
I think what probably happened was that first weekend, I mean, they hit. They had that one game where they hit all those home runs. But also, people probably were like, why does that bat look so goofy? They don't look cool. They look like. I had to change the way the bat was made.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So it would hit where the ball goes.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Which is like, what if you fixed your swing? Anthony Volpe. What if instead you put the sweet spot where the ball is.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Instead of moving it to where the ball's going to be. Yankees. Do you have any hatred for them or is that. You don't even think about them either. Your Dodgers think.
Isabella
Exactly. Yeah. The Red Sox to Yankees, Giants to Dodgers thing is so similar.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
The little north, south, the city that's bigger, that has the more entertainment, but the northern cities, like, we actually have culture. We're a real city. You guys suck.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And the years of domination, but more recent success. A lot of have very real Parallels.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And I love it. Yeah, I love that we can band together over this. Just pretend.
Isabella
I also went to the new Yankee Stadium and I was kind of like, oh my God, like it's a mausoleum. The old one was so much cooler and. And Fenway was obviously still better and off. Like, our park is obviously, you know.
Katie Nolan
Like a beautiful park.
Isabella
Why in the, in the era where the Giants park exists, where like Camden Yards, I don't think is that old. Where Pittsburgh's park exists, you have these beautiful bar ballparks. Granted, you don't have. Have bridge and water, but like, there are architects who know how to make them cool. And then you guys built. The Yankees built this. What is this?
Katie Nolan
It's like, it felt like a museum to when they were good, which as a fan I would have been like, I hate this. I want to continue being good. I want to. I'm here for the game, not to walk through the halls and see the feel.
Isabella
Unique though. It didn't. It doesn't feel like it has, like a vibe. Yeah. Didn't make me want to party.
Katie Nolan
No. Well, they're not really a make you want to party. Like, you weren't even up until this year allowed to have facial hair, which is crazy. I feel like they're not really the party franchise.
Isabella
No, they're not.
Katie Nolan
They're the parents, you know, they're just.
Isabella
Yeah, they are. They are the parents of baseball.
Katie Nolan
Tuck your napkin into your shirt and don't get any sauce on anything.
Isabella
I do love that though, cuz it. It needs to exist. Like, it's fun that that's a culture. As a fan who doesn't really, like, hate them, I'll just go and like, oh, the pinstripe. Right.
Katie Nolan
To see we're a suit to the game. That's cool. You guys are cool.
Isabella
Ties.
Katie Nolan
Tyler Herro doesn't believe any history before 1950. Have you seen this?
Isabella
I have not.
Katie Nolan
Okay, so Tyler Herro recently sounds like.
Isabella
He'S running some numbers on the Holocaust. That's an interesting year for him to throw in.
Katie Nolan
I hadn't.
Isabella
Why did he crunch numbers on the Holocaust? Like Kyrie on gravity, I trust.
Katie Nolan
I mean, I. I just want to say I don't think he's thinking as deeply as you possibly. I think he may be dumber than you're giving him credit for. Do. Are you familiar with Aiden Ross?
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
Do you have an opinion?
Isabella
Well, he's like ever to me. You know, I'm in my 30s, so I see clips of streamers on Instagram from Accounts that aggregate what streamers are up to. So I generally know what he's up to and I think it's probably not good for society.
Katie Nolan
Usually good stuff.
Isabella
No, not usually. I feel like, like Kai Sinat feels like he's fun and his stuff always seems like creative and co. Yeah, speed is entertaining to me. But then I see like Aiden Ross or like this. This asshat Vitali who got arrested.
Katie Nolan
I didn't even know that one.
Isabella
Yeah, he got arrested in the Philippines. He's like in Filipino jail. Cuz he was trying to like do pranks in the Philippines. He's a bad guy. It encourages bad behavior, I think.
Katie Nolan
Damn. Yeah, I think so too. It's like I. If eyeballs are all that matters, then why wouldn't you, you know, drive your expensive car too fast and crash it or whatever it was.
Isabella
Right. Cuz there's not like an underlying, like art. It's not like I'm trying to promote my music. It's like I'm trying to promote watching me now granted, as someone who.
Katie Nolan
Please tune in. Please. Okay. But we're not gonna, you know.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Have Antonio Brown come by and attempt murder in order for you to stay watching.
Isabella
Wouldn't not. It's called the Joey Show.
Katie Nolan
You can find it wherever you get your podcasts. So Tyler Hero went on Aiden Ross's stream to speak on a matter of subjects that involved debunking various moments in history. The discussion began when Hero was asked about Wilt Chamberlain's 100 point game in 1960. He said, quote, I don't believe in history. They laughed. And then he said, I'm dead ass for sure. Then he said, I don't even know what Wilt looked like played like. And then reluctantly conceded. He does believe that it happened.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
Because you can look that up.
Katie Nolan
Right. And it was 1962.
Isabella
Right.
Katie Nolan
Then somebody said, what about the moon landing? And that's somebody. I'm so sorry. Is. I believe it's probably pronounced neon.
Isabella
Oh yes, neon. He's kind of a squirrely guy. I think the whole thing is like, he'll never get a girl.
Katie Nolan
Girl. Wow. So you're in on these guys. I think his. I think his thing might be he'll never again girl.
Isabella
I've seen a lot.
Katie Nolan
I think this might be his dance.
Isabella
He's like a nerd. And they always like put him around girls. He's like, you. Oh. And then he like slaps them. It's you know, good, I think enriching. Well, they put like there's like a Reel between like streamers and like the only fans community and then like sexual tension is like the whole thing. I I it's from what I've gathered from the clip just tough.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
I mean if you hated AI wait till you hear about the youth.
Katie Nolan
I'm becoming a love bloodite. I'm just an old lady.
Isabella
But there's something good about that because you can't just like hype beast everything and be like I guess that's where we're going. It is but it is. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Conversation later turned to Christopher Columbus as it does and they said how do we know when did he come to America? They said 1492 which okay. Proud of you for getting that right.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And if it weren't for that rhyme no chance. I don't think any of us would remember rhymes. The most surprising thing about the clip to me is they're reading the chat's reaction and Aiden Ross goes they said he's based and then that Columbus.
Isabella
I think they'd like both.
Katie Nolan
And then neon goes what does that mean?
Isabella
Oh my Lord.
Katie Nolan
And I said how do I know what that means? And you don't know what that means. This is your but anyway does not believe in anything that happened before 1950. 50.
Isabella
I think that he's like how do we know there's there is an eloquent point to be made that history is not completely accurate.
Katie Nolan
Told by the victors.
Isabella
It's told by the victors. And like you could watch an accounting of an event that happened yesterday and get wildly different reporting.
Katie Nolan
I do quite often.
Isabella
Yes, exactly. So yeah like that the game of telephone like we understand history is impersonate perfect. I think that it requires a lot of work to get even a still incomplete picture. That is a fair point. But then just to getting to the point, you know like with a fade and like six earrings on and being like sitting like but it ain't even like it ain't even like real though how do we know is like like maybe doesn't get us where we need to go.
Katie Nolan
How do we know?
Isabella
You know? But that is kind of base. It is kind of based. Anything can be when you just be like how do we know?
Katie Nolan
How do we even know he questions.
Isabella
Every decision to take it's Socrate because you just go it's a Socratic method.
Katie Nolan
I don't know.
Isabella
Maybe he that's what he's doing.
Katie Nolan
I I again I don't think so.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I think you might be giving him too much credit.
Isabella
Yeah but I like doing that, you know Shout out to him.
Katie Nolan
Shout out to him.
Isabella
White Boy Summer.
Katie Nolan
I guess.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Also, do you need to be streaming all the time? I don't think so. The more things that guy says, being caught on camera feels like a. Like a. I just don't think eventually you're going to run into an issue. Issue.
Isabella
I think so. But I think, you know, he. Obviously, he's still in the midst of his career, but he. As one of the few NBA players that I think he has a stream. Right. Like, he's in the streaming world. That's how he ended up there. I think so. Or maybe there was another.
Katie Nolan
I believe it.
Isabella
There was another. There was a different white boy who played for the Heat who I think got canceled.
Katie Nolan
Wasn't that him?
Isabella
Because he said. Right, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Myers, Leonard. Man, that's racism for me. I got those two contestants confused.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That's not cool.
Isabella
But how do we know, right, that.
Katie Nolan
They are different guys?
Isabella
Correct. You don't know. You don't know White Boy Heat players that stream.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Isabella
So I actually don't even know if Tyler Hero streams, but, like, he's, you know, he's kind of a cultural figure. He's got that Jack Harlow song, you know, he's. He's probably vibes.
Katie Nolan
Sure.
Isabella
He's probably vibes, you know, and so it's not a horrible thing for him.
Katie Nolan
To get in 1950.
Isabella
You don't have to be smart to stream. Well, you just have to be there. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
You just have to be there and say something in the chat.
Isabella
I might get into streaming.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I think you could.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I don't see why not. Do you play video games?
Isabella
That's the things. I don't really.
Katie Nolan
Oh, but you could, like, watch.
Isabella
I could just watch stuff and talk. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Never have to leave your house.
Isabella
See, but that's where I lose my mind.
Katie Nolan
Oh, you're. You're an extrovert.
Isabella
Yeah. Yeah. Because, like, right now, like, I'll do my podcast is just like, me alone in my house, and then I'll edit it. And then, like, I'll spend an entire day writing, talking to a camera, and then editing. Editing. And it's me. And then I'm like, why do I not feel okay?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And then that's where stand up comes in. I can go on stage and talk to actual people and be like, oh, I feel so much better.
Katie Nolan
Right. It fuels you. That makes a lot of sense.
Isabella
Certainly.
Katie Nolan
Rather than running in a circle in your head.
Isabella
Yeah. It turns out that if, like, your only prism is the Internet, to view yourself Back through. It's not great.
Katie Nolan
And it's not getting better. No, because the algorithms now are like giving me. I see them working based off of what I've just clicked on. And I'm like, don't send me down this path. I watched one video of a fight at a Waffle House. I do not want four now. I just wanted to look at the one and get back to other stuff.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
But they're like, this is what you.
Isabella
It doesn't understand balance. It does. It does. Yes. Have you ever gotten pimple popped? Like, you watch one and then all of a sudden it's like, oh, you like that? And then your feeds just all with.
Katie Nolan
Literally pimple popping videos.
Isabella
And it's. And I hate it. Cuz I do. I have whatever that genius scroll past it and then I watch it. But then it's like, want more?
Katie Nolan
Well, the worst is now they'll do ones where there's like a clear one you want them to go pop, and they don't. And they pop all these ones and you're like, get to the giant blackhead. And it's why I clicked the video out.
Isabella
Oh, if you don't pop that real one, I'm going to find who you are and kill you. Like, actually find. Like, I don't believe in political violence, but I will assassinate the dermatologist who don't pop the pimple they put in the goddamn thumbnail.
Katie Nolan
Put me on the jury. And you're getting. Yeah, because that is why, you know, it's why I'm here. You know, it's what I want. You have the ability to pop it. It's right there.
Isabella
Yeah. And when I. I can't. And when I get off, I'm not even gonna ask for them to pay for my council. I'm gonna ask for them to pop.
Katie Nolan
The guy in front of me live.
Isabella
Do it live in the courtroom.
Katie Nolan
Other. While we're airing these out, they do live shows. They should start live shows. An interesting idea. The money will follow. If you build it, we will come.
Isabella
Babe, why are we going to Madison Square Garden tonight?
Katie Nolan
We're going to Pimples Live.
Isabella
They've flown in the 12 greatest pimples from around the world because they'll be finding people in like, the Congo. Like, I'll be looking at an ear. And I'll be like, that dude was just spearfishing.
Katie Nolan
He's been working outside for a long time. That's an old. That's an old pimple in the ear. Yeah, that's only coming out because it's affecting his hearing.
Isabella
Down from his ancestors. Exactly.
Katie Nolan
I hate when they made it a show. Show. They gave, like, pimple pop, Dr. Pimple Popper, the OG, I guess got a show. And very quickly it became about, like, cysts.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And again, I'm. I don't kink shame. But that's not what I'm here for. I like when you see a pimple, which. It's also hard having this conversation when I have a massive one on my chin that I've been waiting, fired up. This is like, later today. This is my activity. I'm going to go to town.
Isabella
That'll be fun.
Katie Nolan
But I. I want to see the release of, like, whoa. All that was in that.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I do not want to see you have to cut into someone's cyst and then the cottage cheese. That. That's not what I'm here for. That's different.
Isabella
Yeah. That's like. It's like bondage. I feel like that's like the BDSM of the pimple popping world is like bdsm. People are like, all right, I've seen that now I need it more.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Like, I think it gets to the point where you almost wish someone's entire body was a cyst.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
And someone could just cut the person.
Katie Nolan
Open and they just bleed it out.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I just want my ideal world body covered in variations of blackheads.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And like, the big ones. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Isabella
What disgusting, though. Don't you feel filthy?
Katie Nolan
Like, filthy.
Isabella
After I've watched a few of them, I literally will, like, look in the mirror and it'll be like. Like, I need to change. I need to take.
Katie Nolan
I've given myself that speech more from pimple popping videos than any porn I've ever watched, where I just go, like, hey, that wasn't cool.
Isabella
It's the exact same feeling.
Katie Nolan
What we just did was not.
Isabella
You just watch some strangers spray some liquor with and then you look at yourself in the mirror and go, I need to change.
Katie Nolan
Oh, Tomorrow we start reading the classic Never Watching. Tomorrow we read the classics instead.
Isabella
I need to read Dostoevsky. I need to stop watching blackheads. But it's just on a man with the same name.
Katie Nolan
Don't we deserve it? Dwight Howard and Lance Stevenson got into a fight the Big Three season opener. It's also their first time playing for the Big Three. These two.
Isabella
Yeah. The Big Three is what Dwight Howard has asked for in a lot of hotels.
Katie Nolan
Jesus Christ. Former NBA champions Dwight Howard and Lance Stevenson will put some respect on those names. Were ejected from Saturday's Big Three opener. Miami and Los Angeles. Let's talk about these team names. Miami 305.
Isabella
Okay, fine. Makes sense.
Katie Nolan
Against the LA Riot. Well, that's something else that gave me pause.
Isabella
I went, oh, that is something else.
Katie Nolan
Also kind of interesting.
Isabella
That was there, like, symbol of Molotov cocktail.
Katie Nolan
I mean, not having the S is something we talk about a lot on this podcast. Brady's not here to. To. He's got a lot to say about teams that don't have an S. But LA Riot not having an S, it could. It not makes you feel like you're speaking about the specific one.
Isabella
Specific one.
Katie Nolan
The one that the. The one.
Isabella
The original, not the recent.
Katie Nolan
Exactly. And it's just like, why. Why are we. Why are we doing that?
Isabella
Yeah. It feels like they're all. They're trying to sell a very specific jersey. I. I don't know what they're doing. I want to be in that meeting. Yeah. It's like, what is, you know, LA about, like, what is the culture?
Katie Nolan
Because we are running out of things.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
To be fair to them.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Running out of, like, team names.
Isabella
Yes. Traffic.
Katie Nolan
Right. Which I would. The cones.
Isabella
LA's overrated.
Katie Nolan
Hot take.
Isabella
You know, I think everyone thinks that.
Katie Nolan
I feel like I'm coming around on them in ways.
Isabella
On them, seeing them.
Katie Nolan
La.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Show up for some stuff.
Isabella
Uhhuh. I've.
Katie Nolan
I'm coming around on them a little. I have been hard on la. I could. You couldn't pay me to move to la. Many have tried.
Isabella
Yeah. I think LA is a collection, like, as a city, like there. People who are from there, identify whatever you're always going to love. Like, I ride for the bay and everyone's like, san Francisco's a hell hole. I'm like, it's actually the nicest. Whatever. But people. Some people love la. But LA feels to me like it's full of people that actually go, g. I don't even like la. And they go, but I love my neighborhood. Like, it's. Collection of places people love in a conglomerate that's a mess.
Katie Nolan
And I think it's like a magnet to a specific type of person I don't gel with. Yeah. That's my main beef with la.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Is that the, like, currency, the social currency is one that I don't have a lot of, which is very, like, what do you do? And what. Oh, that's amazing. Let's follow each other. Let's share on socials.
Isabella
A lot of girls in full brewery.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And like, guys that you're like, do you have anything to say?
Isabella
Oh yeah. Guys that are like weirdly hot but like creeping you out. Because it's like, why are you like just being sexual? I don't know. There's just like a. There's always like. I'm actually like a healer, you know. And like also. But I do. But I work in the industry. But like what I really. You know. But I've also been really getting into my music and like flowing pants and necklaces and like, you know, whatever. Like the. They're like the dregs of what Burning man like hates now. You know, they're not what it's supposed to be, but what it's become.
Katie Nolan
And those people are for some people and that's.
Isabella
And I'm happy for them.
Katie Nolan
Somebody for everybody sit in a room.
Isabella
And have their conversations. Now back to your question. Could the LA Riot be about anything else?
Katie Nolan
Well, let's give it.
Isabella
Cuz I just don't know. I'm sure. I'm sure that I. I just don't know if that's. I could be wrong.
Katie Nolan
Maybe people can. Like the way that like it's Riot, like the par. Maybe it's named after the Paramore album. Was there a Paramore album called Riot? I believe there was.
Isabella
Well, I guess all mass mascots are supposed to be intimidating and.
Katie Nolan
And you know, has a mascot even. Like, I. I don't think they've got any furry guys.
Isabella
That's where it would get interesting is if they did an LA Riot mascot. Just a destroyed Korean business. And that's not what you. You want. That's not what you want at all. I don't think anyone wants that. I don't think anyone.
Katie Nolan
It's just an interesting choice. But the story isn't that. Believe it or not, it's that Dwight Howard and Lance Stevenson got into a fight. Have you seen it?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
Let's show it to him. Why don't we just show it to him?
Isabella
Damn. This is.
Katie Nolan
It got pretty. I mean they shoved each other.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
All the way like under the net.
Isabella
I would say that's probably good for the league.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, we're talking about it.
Isabella
It needs a little press. I think that was kind of a. They look good. I mean, you know, they're not in the NBA prime, but those guys could get it, you know?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, they sure. Damn.
Isabella
There's a lot of fans there too.
Katie Nolan
It's packed.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Because all I've been hearing is ads for this on podcasts and that's never.
Katie Nolan
Usually a good Sign.
Isabella
I'll be, like, listening to some podcast about, like, World War iii, and then it's like, it's a la riot in Big three, the way basketball was supposed to be played. I'm like, what? By older people?
Katie Nolan
Are they. Are these all. They're all aged out of the league. There's got to be current players in Big three. No, that wouldn't make any sense. No, I don't think any sense. That's crazy how old this makes me feel. Then immediately I think, like.
Isabella
But it kind of makes sense. Like, now that it's easier to distribute content, we're just finding different uses for athletes.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
You know, like, why not throw three of you? They have a name.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Like, I think Pablo Sandoval is playing in, like, a Saudi Arabian baseball.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Y.
Isabella
And it's like, that's crazy. But also, like, get your money, Pablo.
Katie Nolan
And that's. And they've got a lot of it, and they love to pay it out. They.
Isabella
They. They do.
Katie Nolan
They sure do. Isabella, I just wanted to show you. Isabella is a. A newer sports fan, so it's fun whenever somebody that has lore comes up.
Isabella
She must be learning a lot on this show.
Katie Nolan
She saw Malice at the palace for the very first time on this show, which is fascinating. Now, Isabella, this is Lance Stevenson. I don't remember what year this was, but this was the Eastern Conference finals. Pacers against. You'll see. That's LeBron when he was on the Heat. Okay. And that's Lance Stevenson in the Pacers jersey. And we can just go and play that clip for Isabella. And then this. LeBron's face here is the best part. Amazing.
Isabella
It looks so gentle.
Katie Nolan
It's amazing.
Isabella
The most human emotion of all time. It's like, bruh, what are you. If Bruh was a face, just. What are we doing? And also, when you're, like. When you're obviously, like, superior to someone, you're like, I'm. You know, I'm LeBron.
Katie Nolan
I'm, like, blowing my ear. I'll dunk over your head.
Isabella
Yeah. What are we doing right now?
Katie Nolan
I just. How jarring it would be to just be in a basketball context. Like, you're just at work, and all of a sudden you feel the feeling of having your probably sweaty ear blown in.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Or maybe you'd be like, actually, can you do that again? It's really hot on the floor. Actually, if you could do the back of my neck. I'm so. Yeah.
Isabella
Somebody takes his shoe off, cooling me down. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I like. How did you feel about that when he blew in his ear, did you have any strong opinions? I remember people being like, what the.
Isabella
I don't remember having any strong opinions. But seeing it now, my opinion is that ruled by everybody. Yeah. Like, yeah, Weird and harmless. I could go on ESPN and be like, that's not what the game is about. This is one of the all time greats. You will put some respect. But then it's like, you watch it and it's like, oh, it's the. It's the, you know, the shit stir on the team. And. And one of the all time greats fights.
Katie Nolan
Right. And so.
Isabella
And that. And they both kind of behaved appropriately.
Katie Nolan
Right. There was no overreaction.
Isabella
And you always. There's always going to be a guy on the other team whose job it is to be insanely annoying during the finals.
Katie Nolan
Which is funny because in the clip from the Big three, it looked like Beasley was the one doing that. He egged on that whole fight. And then when the fight happened, he.
Isabella
Was like, that looks like. As someone who had basically no interest in going to one of those games, I kind of saw that scene out there. I was like, that looks. Looked kind of sick.
Katie Nolan
I felt that happen to you. I was like, we're selling him on this league right now. Yeah, I think we're gonna see him courtside. Should be affordable.
Isabella
Huge big three guy. He's the. Oh, he's the big three comedian. People like, I don't know either of those.
Katie Nolan
Or who, you know, Joey Avery, the big three guy.
Isabella
Three guy.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. There's a lot of big three material. He's always there.
Isabella
Yeah. The ads killed me because they're like, this is how basketball was supposed to be played.
Katie Nolan
No, it isn't.
Isabella
It's just simply not.
Katie Nolan
No, it is not.
Isabella
Yeah, three on three is fun. It's.
Katie Nolan
And it can be fun and it can be different, but let's not say it's what it was supposed to be.
Isabella
No, it's like when you watch, you know, they have different formats for golf. You watch like a two man or a scramble. It's like, that's fun. Not you. No golf at all.
Katie Nolan
Too boring.
Isabella
I went to the Masters this year.
Katie Nolan
That's sick. Was that like a bucket list item for you?
Isabella
So it was a bucket list item. And then I wasn't supposed to go. And then I was on the Yak a barstool podcast a week before, and the guy's like, I have Masters tickets. I'm like, that's crazy. How'd you get them? And he's like, would you. Would you go? And I'm like, yeah. And he's like, all right, I'll give you one.
Katie Nolan
That's you just.
Isabella
And then the two of us went, what? Me and Brandon Walker, just the two of us had, like. We've never hung out off the air, and then we just had like a. A boys weekend, the two of us.
Katie Nolan
This is like a dream.
Isabella
Yeah, it was unbelievable.
Katie Nolan
This is like a dream.
Isabella
Very magical experience, truly. Yeah, it was really cool. And I've always wanted to go. I really enjoy golf. I'm not as big as some people, but, like, I. I'd play.
Katie Nolan
I'd go, here's the thing. I go in person, and I've just.
Isabella
Seen it so much that, like, I could NER on each hole. Like, you know, you're sitting in amen corner, you're looking at them like the creek. It's just as still. It's so still.
Katie Nolan
You guys love it?
Isabella
Oh, we love it.
Katie Nolan
This is my thing. I'm too loud for golf. I feel my energy and golf's energy, and I feel golf almost to me.
Isabella
Going, like, you should go to the Ryder Cup.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Yes, is what I've heard.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be perfect.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. That I'm into. I would do that.
Isabella
It's in New York this year.
Katie Nolan
Well, then this year. Is this going to be one of those situations? I go, hey, I actually have these two tickets.
Isabella
I wish I had one. I'm thinking. I'm thinking of going, though. I'll let you know if I go.
Katie Nolan
Please do. Yeah, please do. There was also a fight in the wnba. I get so anxious to talk about the WNBA because of the way everybody talks about the WN online. It's like I'm terrified to say a name that I'm like, oh, based on this, I take this person side and then find out.
Isabella
Let's do this. Because this is how a lot of people are discussing the wnba. Let's not watch the clip. And you just tell me white or black and. And which.
Katie Nolan
No.
Isabella
And just tell me who you're rooting for, because that's what people want, is for you to apply no context to the situation.
Katie Nolan
This is actually only going to get in the way of 100% of the clip we could be making right now.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
To post online.
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
The more we watch this, the less viral. Whatever we say here will go. So black or white?
Isabella
Who are you rooting for? No, no, no, no, no, no. That's a. You can.
Katie Nolan
No, please do that first.
Isabella
No, I invented the game I don't have to play. I'm the host. I'm Alex Trebek. This is jeopardy. And it's racial. Yeah. I think. I think people. I will say this. That sort of tension has always been used in sports promotion.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
Specifically, like, the best biggest fights have become unfairly racial.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
Even, like, Muhammad Ali versus George Foreman. Right. Like, once you make it that it sells more tickets, unfortunately. So I don't think it's hurting the WNBA that there are galvanizing forces on both sides. Sides of this debate, but I wish it was healthier.
Katie Nolan
You just hate to see it. It's, unfortunately, all that. A lot of people who aren't dialed into the wnba, it's all they're seeing of the league.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
That's where I get like.
Isabella
And then people like, these girls are.
Katie Nolan
Assaulting her, and it's, like, already weird about when girls put their hands on each other. Like, just watching people react. I mean, how are they watching women. People react to women's ufc? Throughout the years, I was like, oh, my God. There's still people in the country who go like, oh, oh, that's. Oh, it's too violent. These girls should not be. Oh, this is not girls. Use your words.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Like, it's mma.
Isabella
To my dad's credit, that's how he feels about the entire ufc.
Katie Nolan
Even boys.
Isabella
Oh, he hates it.
Katie Nolan
I love that.
Isabella
He's like, if they were chickens, they'd throw everybody in jail. I'm like, but they're not.
Katie Nolan
It's kind of true, though.
Isabella
It is. But that's because the chickens don't have a choice.
Katie Nolan
Yes, exactly. I think the reason it's illegal there.
Isabella
Correct. Chickens. He just goes, it's not. Not right. And.
Katie Nolan
And you know what? Consistency matters.
Isabella
Fine.
Katie Nolan
From a generation like the. The older ones, you get to a point where you're like, that's fine.
Isabella
You try to get him on. I go, what about boxing? And he goes, it's barbaric.
Katie Nolan
Like, okay.
Isabella
He thinks it's beneath humanity.
Katie Nolan
Great.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
But at least he thinks it across the board.
Isabella
Across the board.
Katie Nolan
And that's all you can ask for, I guess. Let's watch this clip. This is the Indiana Fever against the Connecticut Sun. This is Tuesday. They won the game, 8871. But the feat was overshadowed by a pair of scuffles, including a fight in the final minute that led to the ejection rejections of three players.
Isabella
Oh, yeah.
Katie Nolan
A lot going on under the net.
Isabella
Getting it.
Katie Nolan
It's the same spot that the Riot.
Isabella
I like A little feist.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't, you know, they're mad at each other. Yeah, you need a little heat.
Isabella
Yeah, I got no problem with any of this.
Katie Nolan
I'm trying to see if any, if like a punch.
Isabella
That's just some general athleticism right there, in my opinion, might be getting a little chippy, but the girl's going, let me put my pony tail up.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, people look upset, but they're also, you know, dealing with it.
Isabella
Cuz I've seen a different. Well, let's see. Cuz I haven't seen this clip.
Katie Nolan
Me neither. Okay, so Cunningham gave her a hug hard. It gave her a hug to the ground.
Isabella
She said what? Okay, then a shove getting up in there.
Katie Nolan
I believe Sophie Cunningham is trained in a martial art. I, I, I believe it's Taekwondo. It's called pillow Taekwondo. Thank you, Chris. I didn't want to misspeak. I also think we're supposed to be saying Taekwondo, Taekwondo. So that's what I'll be doing.
Isabella
I saw the clip where it was like Caitlyn got poked in the eye. Was that also the same game?
Katie Nolan
I, it had to be, right?
Isabella
It was like she got poked in the eye and then another girl came up and like body checked her.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, yeah.
Isabella
This was sort of in retaliation to those two things. So Sophie Cunningham was sort of sticking up for a teammate. Okay. I thought that second one is great. Yeah, I thought that's pretty much, you.
Katie Nolan
Know, the Caitlyn Clark one though, you were like, whoa.
Isabella
The Caitlyn Clark one, it was just kind of like she gets poked in the eye. And then another girl came out of nowhere and body checked her. And I guess for me that's like, I, to me, athletes are going to do what they're going to do. The real question is, does the league come in and be like, let's protect her a little bit. Because in the NBA, whatever a star, you do that to Steph Curry, they would come down on them. So I think that the league should come in. But like that athletes, the idea that the other, you know, girls in the league want to beat her up a little bit, it's like that little bit part of the game.
Katie Nolan
It is fuel. That's what you want. Especially when all the eyeballs are on an Indiana game. It's like you want the people to get out there and want to beat Indiana. That's the, that's what the, I think.
Isabella
You know, ideally you clean it up a little bit, but that's, that's out of bounds. It's the League. The league needs to come in.
Katie Nolan
I'm with you on that. I also think the league gets then anxious about what it would look like if they did.
Isabella
Well, that's the problem because now the league is treating these girls like girls.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And that's the problem.
Katie Nolan
And you can't do that.
Isabella
No, they're women. These are women. If I had said women first, that would have worked a lot better. Have you been to a WNBA game?
Katie Nolan
I just went to my first one. I went to the Liberty. It was awesome.
Isabella
I hear it's great.
Katie Nolan
It was packed.
Isabella
There used to be like a running joke that was like a hypothetical which was like, okay, what would you rather find on the ground? Like a 20 bill or floor seats to the WNBA Finals? And people would ask that, like on like lav mic.
Katie Nolan
Cool people.
Isabella
They sound like really cool, funny, Very nice people.
Katie Nolan
Various people.
Isabella
And now it's awesome. Like I have not been, but I.
Katie Nolan
Was with you until like a week ago. It is sick.
Isabella
Everyone says it's sick.
Katie Nolan
The. It. It was specifically sick for me in a way that it might not be for you. That the like in game promotion, you know, all the stupid giveaways and stuff they do were tailored to women. I was like, oh, I don't think I've ever been in this environment and openly been like, oh, they're giving away fenty lip gloss.
Isabella
Fenty lip gloss?
Katie Nolan
No, not that we're not.
Isabella
It's called the real nose. We're not there yet. They were giving away lip gloss?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, it was just like they were doing like makeup themed giveaways and I was like, wait, I would actually want. It's not like a bad T shirt. It's like a thing that I have in my purse that I want.
Isabella
That's really smart too. Cuz I think girls are also like, there are more like trinkets that appeal to you that are within the range of giveaway love.
Katie Nolan
A giveaway trinket? Yeah. Yeah. You guys kind of dumb. A bottle opener.
Isabella
What do we want? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
Golf divot. Fix it.
Isabella
It's like, it's. It's all kind of okay, you know, But I don't have a lip gloss need. I don't have anything.
Katie Nolan
You just got to go to a Liber game. Maybe you get into lip gloss. Boys can do lip gloss.
Isabella
I'd lip up for the gals.
Katie Nolan
You could lip up.
Isabella
I tried it, but then I looked, you know, just questionable.
Katie Nolan
Too good?
Isabella
Well, no, I don't think too lips are what I need. No, no. Guys are like what's this guy been licking his chops all day? It's really. Can't be on the subway with wet lips as a grown man and people are like, is he salivating? What's going. Put him in jail?
Katie Nolan
Are you watching Love Island?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
Me neither. And Isabella, are you.
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
We are the only three people I think Honor.
Isabella
Can you. Do you really have time? Like, sports and reality TV are a bit at odds for me. I don't know where you have the time to do all of that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, you're right. It is a lot of wasted.
Isabella
Sports are a lot of time if you're watching regular season baseball at all.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Which I am quite a bit of Less now.
Isabella
The thing that I'll. I'll take with reality tv, it's similar to sports is like, I could put it on if I'm working. I can have my laptop out, but I can't. Like, I can't lock in to reality TV unless I'm with a group and.
Katie Nolan
We'Re, like, drinking wine, like, turning it into, like a. A podcast with no listeners, basically.
Isabella
It used to be called hanging out.
Katie Nolan
I think is what they call it.
Isabella
I don't know.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. If we're making content for ourselves.
Isabella
I could see myself. Myself, like, binging it with friends over a whole weekend, but.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Isabella
It's probably never gonna.
Katie Nolan
Like, waiting for a new episode. I don't feel like would be. Yeah, I get that. I've gotten into some reality shows. This one, I think I missed the original boat. And then now I'm just like. I feel like I'm. I'd be hopping on and. Yeah, like, me too. Right. And I don't think I even know the premise.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
People get way into it.
Isabella
I don't love them. I went on one one time. I was. I was visiting guests. You know when they do the one where it's like, we brought someone from your family.
Katie Nolan
What Summ.
Isabella
It was. It was called Coupled. It was on Fox. It only had one season. It didn't take off. But it was Mark Burnett who did, like, Survivor and all these big shows. And it aired on Fox and my friend was on. He was in a band at the time and he was like, in it. And then they did, like, visiting family, and everyone's like, your mom's here, your cousin, and then it's like, your boys here. And I'm like, ah, what's up, Alex?
Katie Nolan
How does it work then? Because in those moments, I always thought, like, how do they pick who's going to come in?
Isabella
He called me About a month before. He's like, we're not going to talk for. For a month. But just so you know, we had to write down a person.
Katie Nolan
If, like, an emergency contact, if.
Isabella
If they have someone come out and see us, we're gonna write down a person. And I put you down. Would you do it? And I was like, absolutely. And I get a call from a producer, and they flew me to Anguilla, like, in the Caribbean.
Katie Nolan
Whoa.
Isabella
They put you in a hotel. I'm partying with everyone's, like, mom and cousin. And, like, you know, like, you still.
Katie Nolan
Keep in touch with any of these people? That would be very.
Isabella
Just my friend.
Katie Nolan
If you're like, we're on a group text. I don't know. Know. That lady's mom was really nice.
Isabella
A couple, like, we. They'll follow me on Instagram, you know, and. And. And so I'll see people's stuff pop up. I don't really talk to any of them, but, yeah, just got like, hammered on pina coladas for one night.
Katie Nolan
The best experience with reality tv, I think you don't want to be on it. You don't want people picking apart your decisions romantically, but you'll pop in and be the friend.
Isabella
Yeah. And then I like that either go on the show. Like, what do you think? I'd, like, interview both of them. I'm like, I don't know. I think he's ready to settle down. I literally. Literally sounded like that. And I'm like, I think they're ready to settle down. You know, I think it might be real love.
Katie Nolan
And you just were saying to say.
Isabella
I mean, it seemed reasonable.
Katie Nolan
How long did they stay together?
Isabella
About a week after the show. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
It was really meant to be.
Isabella
Yeah. He even took me, like, for a walk. He's like. He's like, they only let me have the mic off for five minutes. He's like, yeah, who cares about this? We're doing whatever. Let's crush a Corona on the beach. Awesome.
Katie Nolan
Damn.
Isabella
Yeah, it was fun.
Katie Nolan
So, folks, reality tv, love. Not real.
Isabella
It's not real. I did ask the producers because I was like, is it fake, though? And they were like.
Katie Nolan
They were like, look, because they're gonna tell you.
Isabella
Well, they told me an answer that. That satiated me is they were like, none of these people are good actors. Right.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Isabella
We don't write stuff for actors to do. And they were like, but we do meticulously manipulate every situation that we have a good idea of what may happen in them, or at least that will get, you know.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
A big moment.
Katie Nolan
Like, they think it's real. The. The. It's almost like the. The people that are participating in it. To make the best version of it, the producers need to move invisibly.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So that they still think it's really happening the way it's happening.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
So that's what's portrayed on tv. Because you're right. They can't.
Isabella
It's the Truman Show. It's. It's literally like, we're going to put you in these situations, and then you might, you know, a month later be like, like, holy hell, that was not me.
Katie Nolan
How far out are we from the reality show that does something that makes us go like, oh, Jesus Christ, I don't think we should be putting that on. The. Like, is the.
Isabella
Like, they canceled Fear Factor back in the day. But where's.
Katie Nolan
And look what it gave us. But no, the. Now we're on this timeline. The. Like, I think there was one, if you want to go Google, where the. They were, like, making citizenship.
Isabella
The giveaway 90 Day Fiance.
Katie Nolan
I mean.
Isabella
Yeah, that one was awesome.
Katie Nolan
This is more outwardly, like, compete against other people who need a visa, and the winner will get to stay in the.
Isabella
Called the American.
Katie Nolan
The Amer. And that made me go. I don't know.
Isabella
Oh, yeah, it's gonna get.
Katie Nolan
I don't know about that.
Isabella
I'm surprised Trump hasn't, like, rolled one out, like, officially.
Katie Nolan
Oh. Oh, God, the cell phone. Because when you said that, it just.
Isabella
Made me think about the cell phone.
Katie Nolan
He just did the cell phone, and I'm, like, in for another. Like, we're doing this.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
And absolutely.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
It's gonna be that. Oh, my God. It's just. Am I just an old lady who's afraid of everything now?
Isabella
Well, I think that there's a lot of thing. I think that, like, part of getting older is actually realizing there are things to be afraid of, a lot of stuff. And, like, everything will, like, kind of technically be okay until it's not, but that doesn't mean that everything is better. And so sometimes you're. Sometimes you are being a grandma, and it's just your time is for you. And. And, you know, life moves on. Your grandparents probably think, you know, so they don't exactly. So they're like, what's a podcast?
Katie Nolan
They got asked.
Isabella
Yeah. SHE talks into a microphone.
Katie Nolan
Fear Factor was still on when they left, so they have no idea what's going on.
Isabella
So there's a bit of that. But, like, there are also things that are moving in a direction that's it's appropriate to be concerned about, I think.
Katie Nolan
And one of those things. Donna Kelce cast in Traitors. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. But she is actually in Traitors. You said it was hard for me you to have sports and also reality tv. They put it together for you.
Isabella
What's Traitors?
Katie Nolan
Traders is one of the newer ones. It is. And here's the thing. I watched a season and a half of it. I'm still going to struggle to tell you what the concept is.
Isabella
That's good.
Katie Nolan
It's basically an allstar of reality show cast members. But also sometimes it's like, influence. You could probably be on it if you wanted.
Isabella
I'm open to it. Hit me up. It's like, I don't think it's a spam email. So you got to prove yourself.
Katie Nolan
You got to really go through the right channel. Channels. It's like they gather all these people. So it's like, oh, this girl was on the Bachelorette and, oh, that's Bob the Drag Queen. And, oh, this Donna Kelce, I believe. Michael Rapaports. On this upcoming season, a choice was made. And then they have you. They, like, basically. Remember in, like, elementary school when you'd play a game where everybody put their heads down and, like, a guy got tapped and he was the killer?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I think they basically do that with them. They pick, like, two or three of them to be the traitors.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Then they perform challenges during the day. Group challenges that don't really mean anything. Just gives them something to do. And then they sort of. They have to sit around a table and vote for who they think is a traitor. So then at that table, basically, sometimes the traders are pretending to not be traitors. People are thinking they're catching traders in a lie. It's like a. It's as little of a structure as you could possibly need to get all these people in a room and create drama.
Isabella
It's funny how much I love sports but hate games.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Because, like, I hear all this is a bad game.
Katie Nolan
It's a stupid game of Traders. Haters is flawed.
Isabella
Maybe I don't.
Katie Nolan
For some reason, it produces a pretty decent TV show.
Isabella
I have to be, like, bought in. Like, I'll be like, I don't want to play some game. But then, like, if I get into a board game or something, I can get like.
Katie Nolan
So you don't like rules is what that's telling me. You don't like learning rules.
Isabella
Yeah, but who does?
Katie Nolan
Nobody yeah, but once, you know, once.
Isabella
I know them, then all of a sudden you're like.
Katie Nolan
Then you're like, oh, oh, oh. I get how this works now. I remember when that game first came out.
Isabella
You're playing Monopoly. Deal.
Katie Nolan
No.
Isabella
Oh, it's a great game. Game. It's like you take monopoly, but instead of taking forever, it's a card game.
Katie Nolan
Take forever.
Isabella
It's a card game and you could. You could play like four or five rounds, you know, in one sitting. No, you can just. No board.
Katie Nolan
You just play Community Chest out the window.
Isabella
I think.
Katie Nolan
Chance, we're not touching those.
Isabella
Yeah, I barely remember the rules, but they're easy to learn and it's super fun. You're still, you know, trying to acquire properties so it mimics life. Right?
Katie Nolan
Y' all all. Yeah, just our first one. If we could please, theoretically, please own a house.
Isabella
Ideal. But no.
Katie Nolan
So she's on that. I don't know if you had any. Do you have any strong Kelsey opinion? Some people are sick of it. Of the Kelseying of all. I mean, it is a lot of commercials.
Isabella
It's a lot. It's a lot of them, you know? Yeah, it. It's funny because I'm always. I'm happy for someone's success, but at some point I'm like, get out of my face. But. But don't get the money. It's fine. I don't. I. I don't get. The algorithm doesn't send me like their podcast clips or anything. So I don't think as much Kelsey as other people. Kind of out of the Swifty thing. So it's just like he's actually. Wait, I forgot. Yeah, no, he plays for the Chiefs. They should die.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Wait, sorry. I take back everything I said.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
I hope Donna gets kicked out on the first episode.
Isabella
Oh, that's right. She's the murderer. I spoiled it here. Now kick her out. She's done. Screw them.
Katie Nolan
And then last one, cuz I have to let you go, but my God, I could do this all day. Noah Ly and Tyreek Hill. Do you know anything about how they had said they were going to race each other?
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
So a quick timeline.
Isabella
If it's to 10 children, Tyreek Hills.
Katie Nolan
Quick timeline was that. I feel like 20, 23. Lyles. Noah Lyles, the. The 100 meter guy said that American Sports League shouldn't deem their annual winners world champions because they're just the winners of the American sports. And then Tyreek Hill took exception to that. Like he doesn't have on that being.
Isabella
The dumbest comment of all time. Because all the best players from all around the. To play in the NFL.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. That's the argument that you could make if you used words.
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
And Tyreek Hills was, I'm faster than you, basically. I want to race you.
Isabella
That is a more fun take, which, you know.
Katie Nolan
Okay. And so then February of this year, they announced that they were going to race. Lyles and Hill announced their plan to race each other. They had yet to pick a date or distance, which was interesting. And now it's not happening anymore. And it was supposed to happen this weekend, and it's not happening anymore.
Isabella
And there a bunch of Miami cops with radar guns.
Katie Nolan
Noah Lyles said he. He's citing personal reasons. We were very deep into creating the event. He's at that sport beach in Cannes, France, where everybody is except us.
Isabella
I didn't even know about that.
Katie Nolan
It's like a new. It feels like the new south by Southwest where people just like, go and.
Isabella
But it's like sports, so it's based.
Katie Nolan
It's like advertising based, I believe.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
But they do a big sports event at.
Isabella
Doesn't matter.
Katie Nolan
We're wasting our time. You'll be there next year. Don't worry.
Isabella
Yeah, I can't wait to go to Ad Week in France.
Katie Nolan
Exactly. Apparently it's very fun.
Isabella
I would actually probably have a great.
Katie Nolan
You would have a great time there. Yeah. A lot of, like, free giveaway stuff and just like, you'd walk with a bomb ass.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
But they said, unfortunately there were some things, complications, personal reasons that it just didn't come to pass. But we were all in. We were gonna shut down New York Times Square and everything. And I'm just very confused by this story.
Isabella
There's no way.
Katie Nolan
Because it's like, how could you be in the planning and. And get them to agree to shut down Times Square for you and then it fall through. There's just no way, zero chance that.
Isabella
They were going to shut down Times Square. I guarantee you what happened is they were going back and forth and they were like, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's do it. My team's on it. My team's on it. And their teams were not on it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
And they probably ran into.
Katie Nolan
Teams are probably like. I don't know if you've heard that this weekend. Fuck.
Isabella
I don't know if you heard of New York, like, zoning regulations, but they haven't opened the Brooklyn Mirage. Like, the biggest club here has been, like, supposed to. Been open for. Oh, yeah. Still not open No, I don't think so. Regulations. There's. There's zero chance that they were crossing their TE's and dotting their eyes on that. I think that's the personal reason that you're bad at business. I said it here first. And if you got a problem with that, come race me.
Katie Nolan
Why say personal reasons? It makes you sound like you're chickening out. That's my only thing for a lady who was loudly team Lyles. Because I like watching Tyrese Hill lose anything. I can watch Tyreek Hill lose.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
For personal reasons.
Isabella
Same.
Katie Nolan
I just don't like Noah Lyles being like, I can't for personal reasons. Cuz now I go, well, that's a as good as a win.
Isabella
Satisf.
Katie Nolan
As good as a win. And I understand the argument that if you are a guy who only runs, there is no win for you in racing against this guy.
Isabella
Correct.
Katie Nolan
God forbid you don't win right now. What you're going to lose sponsors potentially.
Isabella
Well, not to take this back to streamers. In the social media realm, that makes neither of us feel good. But did you see that Ashton hall raced speed Ash. You remember the morning routine? Guy who slams his face into a bowl of water.
Katie Nolan
We made that guy a whole thing that. You know his name?
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Oh boy.
Isabella
Oh, I spent a lot of time on this.
Katie Nolan
Those Saratoga waters, that guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Isabella
And he raced speed. Cuz he's a streamer. But like all this guy's videos are like him sprinting super fast after waking up early in like a Gucci bracelet.
Katie Nolan
And having the hands of women do things to him.
Isabella
Yes.
Katie Nolan
No faces, no. Simply hands.
Isabella
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Katie Nolan
And he got smoked.
Isabella
He did. He lost three straight times.
Katie Nolan
He went more times and like the guy Speed.
Isabella
Like his name is Speed, but like he's not like, I don't think he's known for running.
Katie Nolan
He's jump over a car. He's like very.
Isabella
He is athletic.
Katie Nolan
Very, very athletic.
Isabella
But he's not like famous for only running. And so it's the same thing. If you're famous for only running, you don't. Don't race someone who's just fast. Tyreek is fast. I don't know know what his Olympian speed is, but I would be enough to be a little scared.
Katie Nolan
They're both fast and. But like anything can happen.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Have you ever just been walking and you go, ow, my ankle hurts. Ow. I imagine that must happen when you're running.
Isabella
If he.
Katie Nolan
I don't do it.
Isabella
What if Noah Ly's like, tweaked something in training. Would you rather him say I had a training reason?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I'd rather him say my guys said they were putting in in Times Square, and then I called Times Square and Time Square was like, we never heard of you. Yeah, it was a business thing. It fell through.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Personal reasons is like, you're.
Isabella
And the fact that he's the only one who backed out.
Katie Nolan
And Tyreek Hill's gonna, like.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Be all about it. You know, he's gonna be like, oh, he got scared. And then I'm gonna have to go back into this media cycle.
Isabella
Were they really gonna, like, get eyeballs and make money off that, though? They could have.
Katie Nolan
In a world where, like, Netflix is putting stuff on, like, live. What was the golf thing? Was that Netflix that they did?
Isabella
Oh, yeah, you're right. They do like the match guys golf could have done.
Katie Nolan
They would have built something around it. Bert Kreischer would have been there. It would. They could have made a whole.
Isabella
Bert Kreisler should do just like a beer pong, like pay per view or something.
Katie Nolan
I'd watch it.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Entertaining the guy is entertainment.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
You know.
Isabella
Should get Dan to start taking his shirt off.
Katie Nolan
You know, I try. He won't. Even when we're having sex, I'm like, please, sweetheart. It's. I have to lift it up.
Isabella
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
I'm like, always. You're ruining the bottoms of all of your shir. And he just won't. He just won't. He thinks he looks better that way.
Isabella
I respect.
Katie Nolan
While he's doing this.
Isabella
I respect that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You do have to flex a little bit. Yeah, I respect that.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Makes sense. Joey, that's it. Because I've had you here for an hour and 24 minutes.
Isabella
Oh, I flew by, though. This was fun.
Katie Nolan
It's crazy. I could just talk to you about sports, tell everybody where to find you on whatever. Is your pick your top, like two or three?
Isabella
Yeah. So Joey Avery on whatever your favorite thing is, because TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, I have a podcast called the Joey Show. I'm on tour, Jimmy Joe avery.com live. But mostly check out my YouTube because I just filmed a special, so I'll be dropping that.
Katie Nolan
Sick. Where'd you film it?
Isabella
San Francisco Punchline.
Katie Nolan
Oh, great club.
Isabella
Had to go.
Katie Nolan
I've been to four clubs, but let me just say it is. That's one of my favorite.
Isabella
It's one of the best.
Katie Nolan
There's a Portland club I like to helium. Yeah.
Isabella
Yeah. I like those clubs that's great. So. But yeah, Instagram is where I post like the most consistently. So. Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Joey Avery, is that your first special? No.
Isabella
Yes. Yes, it is my first one.
Katie Nolan
Are you freaked out?
Isabella
Are you scared? Yeah. Oh, yeah. The whole thing, like the buildup was like two weekends ago. And then last weekend was my best friend's bachelor party in Cabo. The one who I went on the reality show with. So I had like a built in.
Katie Nolan
Oh, so he found love.
Isabella
He did.
Katie Nolan
Congratulations.
Isabella
With my wife's cousin.
Katie Nolan
Okay. That could have been a terrible story for a quick.
Isabella
No, no, no.
Katie Nolan
I was like, oh, no, he picked yours. That's tough. Of all the women.
Isabella
No, no, no, no, no. We actually worked out great cousin.
Katie Nolan
That's amazing. Your best friend with this is. You've got a built in. You guys are going to be made at some point. They'll all just move.
Isabella
That is the hope. That is the hope.
Katie Nolan
Building yourself a little life.
Isabella
Building a little life. That's. That's my special.
Katie Nolan
What's it called?
Isabella
I just finished filming it. So yeah, so I got to edit it. But like I self produced it and it's like, you know, 10 years, 11 years. Thirteen, I guess. Of. Of materials. Hopefully.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
You know, hopefully it goes well.
Katie Nolan
Hopefully you all like it and say nice things.
Isabella
Please say nice things.
Katie Nolan
Only nice things, please. You can watch it and dislike it, but then go away.
Isabella
But yeah, still just press like is a big ask.
Katie Nolan
But just don't press dislike like that's still even there.
Isabella
I think they do it, but they don't show how many. But they need people to like, have a space to vent.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Let them know I did not like this. But you don't have to write what you think because it's just, he's. It's his life's work.
Isabella
It's my life's work.
Katie Nolan
Shouldn't be able to comment.
Isabella
Maybe I'll come back when it actually comes out.
Katie Nolan
Please do. We would love to have you.
Isabella
I would love to come back and.
Katie Nolan
Bring Masters tickets or something.
Isabella
I will. I'll have to bring you an invitation.
Katie Nolan
Maybe it's in that scenario you were on there. So it was my job to bring you tickets.
Isabella
That is true. Usually I get an offering of some kind.
Katie Nolan
I'll work. But I don't think you'll even like it. It's gonna just be a lip gloss.
Isabella
That's fine.
Katie Nolan
Perfect.
Isabella
That's fine.
Katie Nolan
Fantastic. Okay, everybody, that's casuals. Thank you so much for listening. Big thanks again to Joey for coming in. Thank you, Chris and Isabella. For being here. No thanks to Brady. I'm just kidding.
Isabella
Didn't want to be in.
Katie Nolan
No. It's funny because he was physically here. I know. Oh, they can't see it. But, guys, there's a fridge behind me. And he plugged it in early. It did. And it's very bright. May I say it looks like there's an angel coming. I understand now why they make fridges not see through. Because it's too bright. That's lighting the entire. It's gonna ruin anything.
Isabella
You want to go get a drink?
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Oh, I know I said we weren't gonna do anything. We were just gonna end the podcast, but I did mean to check in. Isabella, have you heard from the Knicks? No, not yet. Interesting, because I saw a lot of comments on the clip. We're like, I know I wasn't on board before, but I'm on board now. Exactly. So, okay, I think maybe just hold out. A lot of times they're using like those. They're busy right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, they're just trying to relax. They have to say no to the people they're saying no to. First you'd get a quick no. It's the yes that takes a little bit longer because they know they want to make you wait. So keep your head on a swivel. Thank you all for listening.
