Dan and I started playing like five days ago, a game called Arc Raiders. We're a little late on this train, but we are fully in. We've done nothing but this for five days. We got back from our vacation, started playing this game, and it has been. We've been having to take little breaks to like, you know, do laundry, take down the Christmas tree. But in between those breaks, it has. We've probably put in like 10 to 12 hours a day on this video game.

I should also say that we're not very good. I texted Pete Blackburn from the podcast. What Chaos. He's one of my video game friends. I text him, I was like, are you in on this yet? And he was like, dude, I stink, but I play it every single day. It's like post apocalypse, you gotta go. You live in an underground society. You've got to go up to scavenge supplies that you then turn into things. And there's like a.

I love scavenging and building.

I end up not killing anyone. I just want to, like, walk around and find things.

Like, there was a zombie game a while ago where you walked around a shopping mall and you could, like find a hockey stick and a chainsaw and duct taped them together. I just wanted to build elaborate things. I have to kill a single zombie.

Exactly. I'm like, I don't need all these guns. I just want to. I just want to build. I just want to. I just want to craft things. Please check out what. Look what I can do. And then I make it. It's pretty fun. So anyway, we're no good at it, but that's where my brain is. Let's go ahead and start with these. These emails. Look, I got a lot of people reaching out about Luke Litler. So I imagine in our email we must have, because people were like, Katie, did. Katie did you see? And so, Chris, did we get any emails?

Of course we did. We got a bunch of emails about Luke Litlo, including this one from Matt. So Luke, by the way, Luke Litlo ended up winning the World Darts Championship. Back to back champions. Champions. Back to back championship wins for Luke Litloop.

Luke the Nuke. Well, friend, I mean, I would say acquaintance. I don't know that he remembers the seven minutes that he spent with us, but if he does, it's good to see you, Luke. And we were rooting for you.

So fantastic performance by Luke. But in the fourth round, he was playing Rob Cross. And this is the specific moment that there was a specific moment that we got a couple of emails telling us about. And this email from Matt says, did you see Luke Litland defeat Rob Cross in the fourth round of the PDC Championship? After the match, the whole crowd started booing Luke. And he responded with this.

It was actually the genesis of our relationship was that he was one of my favorite guests on the podcast and I always lit up when I saw him. And same for him. So I. I love doing it. I also think we're both cautious. Cause I don't want our relationship to become work in any type of way. And I think it's good to keep it as se possible. But that being said, I mean, he's my favorite person to talk to. And you know, I think that's really cute that there are men on the Internet that are bad. But he's a man who clearly loves. His is so sweet, so cool. I'm glad that you like it. I also know a lot of people don't like couples when couples are on stuff. So I didn't know if it was gonna make everybody mad. And somebody called into the radio show today and apologized for the. Our Chicago Airbnb experience, which I believe he got almost fully refunded. I think they kept like a hundred something bucks as some sort of a fee, but almost got most of it back. It was just a really scary. It just was combined with just a weird guy standing outside of your Airbnb going like, how long are you there for? And then you go inside and it looks like somebody just got up and rushed out the door and you're like, what is this? Were you living here? I'm sorry. So anyway, that got fixed. Yeah. So it was definitely a weird situation, but we got it fixed. And thank you for apologizing entire city of Chicago. And thank you to everybody for listening to our podcast. I appreciate them wrapping it up on a Sunday so we could record this episode on a Monday to be released on a Tuesday without worrying about some random game that's going to happen tonight. There is no game tonight. So I figured the best thing we could do is sort of lay the season to rest and go through the teams that we will not be seeing anymore this year and sort of pick out something that stood out about them throughout the season. So we'll start we're going order of the NFL draft, so we're going to go from worst to best. These again are the teams we are saying goodbye to in this NFL season. Let's start with the Las Vegas Raiders 3 and 14. They were this season no good under first year head coach Pete Carroll. More on that in a little bit. It is Black Monday here as we're recording, so if you haven't heard it by Tuesday, we will get to the firings and such a little bit later in the show. But let's talk about the Raiders are now in prime position to pick Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who's hecking thrilled about that I'm sure.

Indiana blew out Alabama in the Rose bowl and Mendoza got hyped for his.

So it's 26, 24. Steelers and the Ravens have the ball. An incredible play. Caught by likely. Likely makes an incredible catch to get the Ravens down into field goal position. It's a 44 yard field goal. Tyler Loop, who replaced Justin Tucker, the disgraced former kicker who was like automatic lights out type of guy. He had started to experience a little drop off and I think that's why he was then ousted. These reports about his alleged behavior with area massage therapists came out and he was gone. Tyler Loop comes out to hit this 44 yard field goal and he misses it. As soon as he missed it, I which meant that the Steelers won and the Ravens were eliminated. I turned to Dan and I said, Stavros is going to kill himself. I just can't like, I can't picture when they missed the X when the Steelers missed the extra point, which they said it was like the only. The second time in like, like years that Boswell had missed an extra point. I was like, oh my God, that poor guy. That's going to be the reason they don't win. Nobody was louder than me about the Colts being for real. I was like, watch out, baby, here come the C O L T S. And then they just kind of fell off of a cliff. Daniel Jones got hurt. They had to bring in 44 year old Philip Rivers. I gotta say, I had a mixed opinion on Philip Rivers. As a football fan who's watched football for a while, he's annoyed me in ways. I know Dan has really hated him because of, you know, just being a Niners fan or whatever. I really enjoyed this chapter of Philip Rivers. I liked the first touchdown he threw. Watching him fist pump like it meant something. Like it was the best thing that's ever happened to him. And then just watching him, the way he was interacting with other players, it was just like having a player coach that sort of had this. Listen, he was eligible for the hall of Fame this year, so he'd been out for five years. And to come back and have this renewed perspective on the game, and then this last weekend, seeing him on the sideline for the Colts, it just was like a nice. I don't know, I saw A couple clips of him after he played where he was, like, talking to players on the other team, and I was like, this is. I like this.

[Brady]

Seeing him get knocked down and like, it took an extra half second for him to get up. I'm like, no. I felt like my me through him. Like, I felt my heart on the field with his heart both struggling for air. Like, it felt so real.

[Katie Nolan]

Yeah. And now he's got to wait five more years and see if he's ever gonna make it to the hall of Fame. So we'll see. Shocker. The Lions out 9 and 8. Lions seemed way too good to not be in the playoffs. Um, their center retired before the season and then announced he was going to unretire in November and then immediately had to re retire three days later because he failed his physical. And as Brady was saying, in that moment, I was him. You know what I'm saying? I really related to going, no, I can do this, and then medically being told that, no, absolutely, I cannot do this. So that really resonated with me about the Lions. What a bummer. What a bummer of a season for them. That's not what I think we thought was going to happen there.

Good team. Like, I can't even point to, like, why they weren't good. There's probably a very obvious reason. I don't know statistically, but, like, figure it out. Brady, Blairs or Mandez.

And then The Vikings, shockingly, 9 and 8. I don't think I expected that. Sam Darnold won 14 games for the Vikings in 2024. They let him leave in free agency. They turned to J.J. mcCarthy, aka his counter, his. What's it called? His secret identity. 9. Have you heard. Remember that story when he was like, it's not me out there. That's nine. Okay? And then he was almost dead last in qbr, so that's tough. Sam Darnold went to Seattle and won 14 games again. So tough to say if the Vikings made the right call there. I think the biggest takeaway, those are all the teams that are out. But the biggest takeaway from this NFL season is that it was Isabella's first season of fantasy football. Higgins wasn't doing anything. So he said, I'm just going to cut T. Higgins. I have no use for him cutting him. Like, you picked up who you wanted to pick up, cut who you wanted to pick up. And it was going against the wave of how everyone else was thinking. And that definitely has a plus to it and definitely, like, sets you apart and gives you an extra avenue to succeed.

And the big point about that is picking up McCaffrey with your first round pick because a of. Lot of. A lot of players, I think, were hesitant in picking up McAffrey because he's so injury prone.

[Katie Nolan]

Right.

You didn't realize how injury prone he has been. You picked him up and then he just absolutely bowled out all season and didn't have any major injuries.

But they are 12 and one in their last 13 games. They lost to the Bills obviously in week 15. That was a blemish for them. But as Matt Ryan told us at the time that that's a good thing. Sometimes you got to take your loss so you can get back on your horse and go into the playoffs fresh. Um, unfortunately we've got some weird news coming out about the Pates over these last couple weeks. Stefan Diggs is facing a felony charge of strangulation and a misdemeanor charge of assault from an alleged incident on December 2 in which a woman says, I believe this was his personal chef at the time, says the wide receiver entered her unlocked bedroom and smacked her across the face after they discussed money owed to her. And also, just get this out of the way in the same breath, defensive tackle Christian Barmore facing a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery on a household slash family member. I believe it was his girlfriend at the time relating to an alleged incident on August 8th. Confusing, confusing timelines. Not sure. I was reading up today to try to be like, are they going to be sitting out? There is a commissioner's exempt list we all became very familiar with a couple years ago ago when players were put on there while they were being investigated. I guess it's possible either of these players could end up on there. I think I saw somebody say that there are pictures in Barmore's case that if those were to become public, he could see the public outcry being about them. I don't know. I hate this. And the one game that I want to point out to you about is the game that's taking place on Thursday, January 8th, at 7:30pm Eastern on ESPN. That is Ole Miss, your team, Katie, against Miami. And I want to know if Lane Kiffin will be watching this one or whether he'll be at the LSU women's game because they faced off against Georgia that very night at 6:30pm I don't know if you saw, but he missed the last. The previous Ole Miss football game by attending an LSU women's college basketball game. So make it two for two.

Yeah, he missed it. And then what happened? LSU women lost their first game of the season when Lane Kiffin was there. So that was a.
