Hello! It's the podcast that tweeted absolutely nothing at Azealia Banks this week. Today, Katie and the Casualties make a HUGE announcement about the future of the podcast (we're on radio next week!), then break down the Wimbledon finals, bagels, ducks, and the influencer at the All England Club who does not actually exist, Jack Sock and his 59-year-old doubles partner and why it's in no way adorable, Mark Cuban's Olympics plan, President Trump wandering into the Chelsea Victory celebration and not leaving, whether FIFA gave him a fake trophy and if the Oval Office currently has a hording problem, the American Century Championship and a huge week for former NHL enforcers asserting dominance on a golf course, Conor McGregor send potato pics to Azealia Banks, Klay Thompson continuing to half-announce his relationship with Megan Thee Stallion, Big Dumper's historic Home Run Derby, the Mets' rad new draft pick, JakeBoy's homer at the celebrity softball game, Druski's defense, the Red ...

You know, casuals is for all kinds of sports fans. We talk about soccer, we talk about football. Parentheses American. We talk about rugby. Sometimes the podcast has a little something for everyone from sports obsessed to the sports curious. You know what else brings everyone to the table? I know you do. It's a handcrafted summer beverage from Starbucks. Have you tried the Strato Frappuccino blended beverage yet? It's an instant all star. You thought nothing could top the classic Starbucks Frappuccino. Who doesn't love a frozen coffee? But the breakout rookie this summer season is the Starbucks Strato Frappuccino blended beverage. It's a smooth Frappuccino topped with creamy cold foam. And it's sure to become a home run with your entire friend group. And how fun is that? Just sitting in real life with your friends under one of those green Starbucks umbrellas, all with your Strato Frappuccino blended beverages, talking about, I don't know what you think's gonna happen in the upcoming NFL season. IRL hangs brought to you by Starbucks. Your Strato Frappuccino in is ready at Starbucks.

Isabella
Why does she want it?
Katie Nolan
Because it's the original Birkin bag. Did you see that? They sold it?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
Did you see how much? So you didn't see how much they sold it for?
Isabella
No, but I think a Birkin for retail is what, like $10,000?
Katie Nolan
I mean, it's a lot. They're crazy expensive. I have no idea.
Isabella
I can imagine. I'm assuming the original is probably millions.
Katie Nolan
Well, the Bidd started at 1 million.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
And it was over within like 20 minutes.
Isabella
10 million?
Katie Nolan
Yeah. 10.1 million. Really? Yeah. It's not also the most expensive clothing item that's been auctioned? Do you know what that is?
Isabella
The cloth on Jesus Christ when he came out of the tomb.
Katie Nolan
Oh. Or wait. What were you Thinking he said he came. I was thinking of a cloth. I don't. Jesus doesn't do that. What would Jesus do? Not that.
Isabella
This is a PG podcast.
Katie Nolan
Jesus edges. Jesus edges. Hello and welcome to Casuals, the podcast that just wants you to love sports as much as we do. I'm Katie Nolan. I'm your host. Joined by the casualties today. We have Brady, we have Isabella. Chris is having Internet issues. Chris is gonna be here, we think. He keeps popping in and out and freezing. So he said start without me. And we have his blessing, so we're doing that. We also are gonna be joined by Kerry Walsh Jennings, Olympic legend who I haven't seen in 10 years. She's fantastic. She's stopping by in a little bit if you want to reach out to us. Don't forget, you can email Casuals with Katie nolan gmail.com our voicemail 646-810-0043 on IG and Tik Tok, we are at Casuals, the podcast. Yap is housekeeping today because I told you last week we had a big announcement coming and it's now time for that big announcement. So do you guys remember a couple weeks ago, Brady, you actually weren't here, but I said to you, dear listener, that I wanted to come up with a way to do a live call in show. That that was like the next thing on the list of stuff I wanted to do. Well, we've kind of figured it out because so Sirius has free air time and we're here in the summer. They've got space to fill up on Mad Dog Radio. And so they have offered for us to be able to do a week of shows and we're calling it casuals live on SiriusXM. Like a real radio show where you, the Casuals fans can call in live. We're doing it next week and don't fret if you're going. I don't have a Sirius XM subscription. That's okay. We're gonna give you one for free for three months. You can get a free three month trial of Sirius so that you guys can participate in this because we need you. But let me give you the link of where you can get it and then I'll tell you why we need you. It's SiriusXM.com Casuals Live. That's going to get you a three month free trial of Sirius, but activate it soon because what we need is for you to do it next week. Here's the deal. This is a sports talk radio station. So the amount of Casuals listening is probably currently at zero, maybe one accounting for like a person who got stuck on a channel and can't figure out how to get off of it. By the way, it is channel 82. So we need you guys, our fans, the casuals, to call in because otherwise it's gonna just be. It could potentially just be me getting yelled at by people who listen to Mad Dog sports radio. So this really is a community effort. I need everybody to mobilize. I know we have a fantastic community. I need the, the discord to mobilize the street team. I need the Reddit, if that's even still a thing. I need everybody calling in. Maybe on Thursday's episode we can think about like calls to action for, for Collins. If people want to like plan ahead and have something that they want to say. But basically the whole point of it is like it's a week. It's from 12 to 1pm for one week. It's like a little experiment. I thought it would be fun. Radio is very good at live call ins so I figured it would be the best and easiest way for us to have like a week where we can just like talk to our fans. So Casuals live, that's the big announcement. It's going to be on Mad Dog sports radio, channel 82. Go to SiriusXM.com that's S I R I U S in case you didn't know. Xm.com CasualsLive you can get a free 3 month trial and we need you. This is us telling you that we love you and we mean it and we need you.
Chris
So save the Mad Dog phone number right now.
Katie Nolan
What's the. Oh yeah, what's the Mad Dog phone number? It's the same phone number for all. For.
Chris
Yeah, for all mad dog shows, 12 to 1 eastern next week. Triple eight mad dog six.
Katie Nolan
Okay, and then in numbers that would be.
Chris
Who knows, who knows what? The numbers all have letters on them. The M, the a, the D. Triple 8. Mad Dog 6.
Katie Nolan
I hate that. I hate that. But I'll figure it out for next time.
Chris
Are you making me look at my.
Katie Nolan
No, I will, I will.
Chris
Triple eight. Let's see, we got a 623-3646.
Katie Nolan
Great. 888-623-3646. But don't call it right now. I mean you could. And we're on after Adam Shine and he is great. So this is going to be. Look, it's a, it's a, it's a tryout. It's like a, we're trying it out. It's not a tryout, but we're trying it out.
Chris
I'm eager to hear you mix with the. With the. All of the Casuals and our lovely fans. But I'm eager to hear you mix with the. I got a problem with the. The jets run game.
Katie Nolan
I know it's. It's a. It's a little bit of a source of anxiety, but I'm going into it just being like, look, it's a week. Who cares? It's an hour for a week. And if it goes completely sideways, at least we'll get a funny headline out of it.
Chris
Isabelle will be there.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, yeah. And Isabella's going to. Oh, yeah, I'll be there, guys.
Isabella
So, like, obviously pull up. It's gonna be so totally cool.
Katie Nolan
Isabella on Mad Dog Sports Radio is a dream being realized that I didn't even know I had. I am so excited.
Isabella
It's my dream too, to be on Mad Dog Radio ever since I was five years old.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Here is the day. It has come.
Katie Nolan
It has finally arrived. So that's it. It's our big announcement. It's very exciting. We're excited. I'm excited to like.
Isabella
Oh, by the way, Chris is back. Just wanted to say that.
Brady
Well, for now.
Katie Nolan
Are you fully back?
Brady
For now, who knows?
Katie Nolan
Oh, you look like HD too.
Brady
Really?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Brady
That's good.
Katie Nolan
All right, let's get. Now that we've gotten our big news, I feel so, like, okay, it's out there. The world knows. Now we're doing a week of shows. Casuals Live. Very exciting. Now let's talk about some news. Let's take a sip of water.
Chris
To clarify, we're still doing Casuals.
Katie Nolan
Oh, yeah.
Chris
Casuals Dead will also be here next week. Casuals. OG Casuals Crime Casual. We'll still be releasing episodes next week.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, Casual's pre recorded.
Brady
Casual's delayed.
Katie Nolan
Also be. Yeah. How are we gonna come up with enough stuff to talk about? Good thing it's not the slow season.
Chris
Not the slow season at all.
Brady
We've got another 10 page rundown here. What are you talking about? There's so much stuff to talk about.
Katie Nolan
We should save it for next week. We got a lot of talking to do. Yeah. All right. Should we hit a break and then we'll. And then we'll come back, talk news. You know, Casuals is for all kinds of sports fans. We talk about soccer, we talk about football. Parentheses, American. We talk about R. Sometimes the podcast has a little something for everyone from sports obsessed to the sports curious. You know what else brings everyone to the table. I know you do. Okay, Wimbledon, guys, it's over. A lovely. A lovely summer tournament has come to an end. Top ranked Yannick Sinner defeats two time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday to win his first Wimbledon championship and reverse the result of their epic French Open final last month. Not as exciting as that French Open final, I will say.
Isabella
I know, but I'm happy for him.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. First Italian man to win Wimbledon. That I didn't know. I'll tell you, I didn't know he was Italian until I was watching the match. I mean, I guess I did know, but I just don't register him immediately as Italian. That's unfair.
Brady
Yannick Sinna.
Katie Nolan
The name doesn't give. Doesn't give projute to me. I'm not getting mozzarella, but northern Italian. First northern Italian man to win Wimbledon. Very exciting for my people. On the women's side, Polish star IGA Witek dominated her Wimbledon singles final against American Amanda Anisimova, winning six zero six zero. So that's tennis. Did you enjoy your what, Brady?
Chris
Six love, six loves.
Katie Nolan
Sorry, you're right, six loves.
Isabella
And that right there is called getting bagel.
Katie Nolan
Wow.
Brady
Double bagel. Get the double bagel.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I love that.
Isabella
You know, it's a zero and a zero is round and so is a bagel.
Katie Nolan
Thank you. Comprehensive explanation.
Brady
Do you know if you go out for a total of 0 in cricket, it's called going out for a duck because it looks like a duck's egg.
Katie Nolan
Oh, cute. Because it looks like a Duck's egg.
Brady
The 0 looks like a duck's egg.
Katie Nolan
I mean, it looks like an egg.
Brady
It used to be called duck's egg and then they shortened it to duck. So if you go up for zero, there used to be this little animation that would go across the screen if someone went out for a duck, you'd get this cartoon duck that. That would make a funny sound. And then walk across the screen to indicate that the batsman just went out for a duck. It was awesome.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Isabella
Yeah. Sorry to Amanda. That sucks. I was rooting for her, but you know what? She'll get him next time.
Katie Nolan
You know, Maybe.
Isabella
What?
Katie Nolan
Why? I don't know. Why you.
Isabella
Why are you not believing in her?
Katie Nolan
The double bagel had happened in the Wimbledon title match only once Prior, in 1911, when Dorothea Lambert Chambers defeated Dora Boothby. Those are the most 1911 names I've ever heard in my life.
Brady
Incredible.
Katie Nolan
Dora Boothby. Okay. Well, that's exciting. Can I tell you? Well, what?
Isabella
Not really. It's not exciting that she got bagels.
Katie Nolan
You're right. Fair enough. It's exciting for the person doing the bagel thing.
Isabella
Yes, very true.
Katie Nolan
So counterpoint, point. I know.
Isabella
I just feel bad because she, like, literally beat Sabalenka the last round, and then she didn't get any game one. But that's okay.
Katie Nolan
That's okay. Sometimes you get two bagels.
Brady
Do you think Witek put some strawberries on those bagels the way she puts them on a pasta?
Isabella
Oh, I hope so.
Katie Nolan
Still not into that.
Brady
I'd absolutely try it. I think it would be nice.
Katie Nolan
I don't think so. It makes me think of those. Remember cream savers? Never heard anyone. No, this. There was strawberry and vanilla was one of them. I just picture that flavor on pasta and I. I don't know. I'll try it. Whatever.
Isabella
When I first heard of it, I thought it was gonna. It sounded interesting. I thought it was gonna be, like a pasta salad kind of thing.
Katie Nolan
Oh, yeah. The way they have, like, a watermelon in it. Yeah. Yeah.
Isabella
But I didn't realize it was just plain pasta with yogurt.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't. Or maybe it's cold.
Brady
I feel like I'd like it. I'm gonna try it.
Katie Nolan
Okay. Can you do it soon so it can be relevant to the podcast? Get your review on it.
Isabella
I'll do it, too.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
All right. Let's all do it.
Isabella
Okay.
Katie Nolan
You're not gonna do that.
Brady
I'm. Put it on my calendar.
Isabella
Yeah.
Brady
You know what? I'll have it for lunch. I'll make some pasta. I got some plain pasta. I got some strawberries.
Katie Nolan
I'm sure there's other ingredients.
Brady
Yogurt. I got yogurt.
Katie Nolan
Okay.
Brady
They're the big three, right?
Katie Nolan
I think. I'd guess. Can we talk about what I care about from Wimbledon? Because. Sure. The AI lady. There's an Instagram influencer named Mia Zalu and I would Google if that's how to pronounce it, except it's not a real fucking person, so I don't actually care. Taking the Internet by storm with her recent photo series at Wimbledon. Except she isn't real. This woman who has more than 160,000 followers. Her bio of her account says that she's a quote, digital creator and influencer. AI. Here's my thing. That's not enough times of telling me that you're AI in today's Internet to expect everybody that encounters a post of yours to go to your post and then look at your profile and see that you're AI. I just. You have to expect less of the Internet public. Chris, I know you don't understand what's happening because you are famously off of social media, but just try to keep up in this conversation. This lady posted on Friday wearing a double breasted mint green suit jacket with her hair coughed and quaffed in perfect waves with people in the background. It looks like she's at Wimbledon. And she's not real, she's AI generated. And the way we're supposed to talk about this in articles. AI generated influencer Mia Z Liu attended 2025 Wimbledon. No she didn't. She can't attend anything. She's not a person to everyone out there. Building in silence, doubting in private, hoping in secret, don't stop, your time will come. Keep showing up, never give up. Followed by a trio of hashtags. Hashtag tennis, hashtag Wimbledon, hashtag keep believing.
Isabella
They got tired of dealing with influencers. They didn't want to hire any real life influencers.
Katie Nolan
Who is this for?
Brady
160,000 people who want to look at photos of her.
Katie Nolan
This 4 the online influencer's first post dates back to March 15th. A little about me. I'm happiest in the sun. I believe coffee tastes better in cute cafes and I live for cozy hoodies and deep conversations. Now tell me something about you. I want to know how influencers feel about this because.
Isabella
And that's.
Katie Nolan
I never. That's a sentence I've never said in my life. But I do want to know how influencers feel about this. I also feel like if you boil this down to what it is, it's really dark. And I know I have depression and I know I do this with most things, but if an influencer is theoretically supposed to be a person who influences people by the things that they buy and the things that they wear and the activities that they participate In. Why would you let a non existent person influence you? They're a robot that could easily be sold to a company who has a vested interest in influencing you to do something different that you wouldn't have. Why is this legal?
Chris
Who's governing it?
Katie Nolan
I don't know who's governing anything.
Chris
I mean, Wimbledon can't kick her out. She's not there.
Katie Nolan
Another popular AI influencer is a Tana Lopez, a 25 year old. Says who? I mean, and Forever is she 25. Forever. Virtual model created in 2023 by the Spanish company the Clueless. Lopez's Instagram bio claims she's the first AI influencer and she currently has just under 400000 followers. Same. That's crazy. That's. Am I just being an old hater?
Isabella
No, Katie, it's weird.
Katie Nolan
Lopez's designer explained that they created her quote so that we could make a better living and not be dependent on other people who have egos, who have manias, or who just want to make a lot of money by posing.
Chris
Egos and manias are people. That's what makes people people. These are good things. These are bugs.
Katie Nolan
Not.
Chris
These are features, not bugs. Like, I don't want soulless photos that are being called influence when they're just. These are just pictures of a non existent person.
Katie Nolan
We started, we started analyzing how we were working and realized that many projects were being put on hold or canceled due to problems beyond our control. Often it was the fault of the influencer or model. Yeah, people have lives. What is going on?
Isabella
Oh my God. She has a Q and a highlight and she's. And she's answering her workout routine. So this is her booty and legs routines for all the girls who want to build shape. Hip thrusts.
Katie Nolan
Oh my God.
Isabella
Oh my God. Wait, who's managing this account? Someone who's always wanted to be a workout influencer.
Katie Nolan
Look, I. I like to think I can pick out an AI Picture these Wimbledon Mia Zalu pictures. They. That looks like that girl's at Wimbledon. So. I don't know. I think we're cooked. I don't. I. I wouldn't have spotted that. She's got like flyaways on her hair. It's not perfectly smooth. She looks like a person. You know, it's cool.
Isabella
You know, guys, when I don't want to come into work, I'll just create an AI Isabella.
Katie Nolan
No, we would know. You can't capture what you are and what you bring to the table in an AI. You're too. You're too special.
Chris
Would you know if Chris was an AI?
Katie Nolan
No, no, I'm just kidding. Chris, I'm just kidding. Oh, I'm just kidding you. Sweet, sweet man.
Brady
Two bad Internet days and all of a sudden I'm A.I.
Katie Nolan
I mean, you're just frozen. You're just a picture. We could use a picture of you and I wouldn't notice. I can't compete with fake people who don't even have real wrinkles. It's not. Stop doing this to me and stop doing this to all women. When I say me, I mean all women. It's not fair. This girl in this outfit, of course she looks perfect. And her skin is so smooth. She's not real. Why? Why is this allowed? I'm sorry. I could talk about this all day. Let's move on. Move me on. A bunch of billionaires did a bunch of dumb things this week to ruin sports. This is a segment we're calling billionaires ruining sports. Thank you. A lot of thought went into that. Bill Ackman, a billionaire, made his pro tennis debut at the age of 59. They've been strongly criticized by former Grand Slam champions and social media. Chris, we'll explain to you what that is when you're older. He's a hedge fund manager. He made his professional debut and he lost. Shock. I know. But he lost. He played with three time grand slam doubles champion Jack Sock.
Chris
What was this gentleman's name?
Katie Nolan
Jack Sock.
Chris
What is his real name?
Katie Nolan
Jack Sock. I think we're all familiar with a jack sock, but that's the one that goes in the trash because it's crunchy. Ew. In the what? We were all thinking Jack Sock. What could you possibly. Whatever.
Isabella
You didn't have to describe it.
Katie Nolan
They lost in the men's doubles at the hall of Fame Open, which is an ATP Challenger tour event, on Wednesday where they lost in straight set six, one seven five. 59 year old Ackman, the CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, one of my favorite hedge funds. It's on my list of top hedge funds that I love.
Isabella
Same.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I drafted. I got them in the second round of my hedge fund draft. He's got a personal net worth of 9.5 billion. So him and Soc were vastly outplayed by their Australian opponents. Good job, Chris.
Brady
Thank you.
Katie Nolan
Good job.
Brady
Did what I can.
Katie Nolan
You guys don't stand for billionaires.
Chris
Beat that Sock.
Brady
You've been sitting on that one for minutes.
Katie Nolan
Coming second in almost every statistical measure in their match in Newport, Rhode Island, Martina Navratilova said, apparently you can buy Yourself a wild card. Oh, to have the confidence. That's what she wrote on x. She's a nine time Wimbledon women's singles champion. On social media, Ackman wrote that the competition were clearly holding back, which made it even more difficult as I had too much time to think, buddy. I don't know. I don't know. I don't think it's because they were taking it easy on you and that's why you sucked. Right. It's kind of a wild take. Maybe they should have gone harder on me so that I could play. Right. He also said that he had stage fright. I can speak in front of an audience of a thousand people or in a TV studio on a broad range of topics without any preparation and without a twinge of fear. But yesterday I had my first real experience with stage fright. They're not the same thing.
Chris
I can make a grilled cheese sandwich like a boss, but the second I get into a ring with Mike Tyson, I'm suddenly scared.
Isabella
He's finally experiencing imposter syndrome. And like.
Katie Nolan
And he has no idea what to do with it. He's like, what do you mean? I'm not the best and everyone loves me.
Chris
He just starts throwing money at the net. Like, what is this? This usually works.
Katie Nolan
Paying the ball in its still keeps not lying. I don't understand. Throughout the match, my wrist, arm and body literally froze with the expected negative outcomes. I had difficulty breathing and it was not a fitness issue. It got a bit better as the match progressed, but I was not able to overcome it. Okay.
Brady
It also may have been a bit of a fitness issue. Let's be honest.
Katie Nolan
I think we should.
Brady
He's 59.
Katie Nolan
I do think we should. I think stage fright is a fitness. I think you would. No shit Is my response to basically all of this. I think we should specify that there is no evidence that he bought his way into anything. He was invited by the dirty sock to participate in this event. But I just. What are you doing? Somebody made a fake 30 for 30 about it already. It's pretty funny about billionaires just playing in a professional tournament. Okay, more billionaires ruining sports. Mark Cuban on SiriusXM's NBA Radio shout out at summer league in Vegas. He said NBC is making billions from the Olympics. Also fact check that. Is that. Are they making billions?
Chris
They have to be. They paid billions for it.
Katie Nolan
Also shout out billions. Watch that on showtime on demand.
Chris
You support your local fictional billionaire.
Katie Nolan
That's right. It is funny when billions fans come up to Dan and talk to him about money. And he's like, I don't know anything about this. I was acting. This is not my bag. NBC is making billions from the Olympics. This is the Mark Cuban quote. Oh, is that a spider? Oh, God, sorry.
Chris
There's that also the Cuban quote.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, that's me. Yeah.
Isabella
He was like, oh, my God. Ew.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Oh, my God.
Brady
Ew.
Katie Nolan
Okay, back to Cuban. Back to Cuban. We're giving it away for free and taking all the injury risks. I would tell Adam Silver, let's create our own World cup, like FIFA, one of the biggest events in the world. The players would make a lot more. But Adam wouldn't do it. So I sold my team. That is a condensed quote. He was talking for a long time. And that last part, which is the headline that got me to click, he was joking. So just to clarify, but more clarity is needed because this quote didn't make a lick of sense to me, because, like FIFA, that's the international governing body of soccer, basketball has that. It's called fiba, which is all of that. But with basketball, not only that, they have a FIBA World Cup. It's an international basketball competition between the senior men's national teams of the members of the International Basketball Federation, the sports global governing body. It takes place every four years. Considered the flagship event of FIBA. It was formerly known as the World Championship, until 2010 the FIBA World Championship, and now it's the FIBA World Cup. I hated this take. I understand a businessman like Mark Cuban having a business mind when it comes to sports. I understand that he's saying that these players are playing in the Olympics and they are incurring potentially injury risk, and. And they're making a lot of money for somebody that isn't Mark Cuban and the NBA. But, like, the way he speaks in this longer quote about the Olympics and. And if NBA players should be playing in the Olympics or not, I completely disagree with. For a league that claims it wants to grow internationally, for a league that has, you know, hopes and dreams of growing exponentially, it's just. It would be a strange move to be anti having players on this international stage. I know this is like a. A topic of debate, but I just feel like it doesn't make any sense to me, and I think it's silly.
Brady
Yeah. It seems like he's just sort of wanting or wishing that the World cup, the FIBA World cup, was bigger. That's essentially what it is. Right? Because I still think if you asked a lot of NBA players which they would rather win the FIBA World cup or an Olympic gold medal, I Feel like most of them would still say the gold medal. That still is the precedent when it comes to international basketball competitions. Whereas when you're talking about the sport of soccer, I think most people would rather win the World cup because they don't even have that event in the Olympics anymore. Because that the, the Olympics should be the pinnacle of every sport because it's not the pinnacle of soccer. They've chosen to make soccer an under 23 competition rather than open for everyone, open for the best players in the world. So if you have a look at the game of soccer, the pinnacle event of soccer is the World Cup. That is not the case with basketball. And I think Mark Cuban's just sort of looking at that and wishing that that was the case and it's not worth noting.
Katie Nolan
I know you're an ally, Chris. That's not true for women's soccer.
Brady
Correct.
Katie Nolan
Right. So just you have to say men's. Okay.
Brady
My apologies.
Katie Nolan
Because it's not the same. You're right. I don't know. I think I just get sensitive when people try to knock on the Olympics. I'm sick of hearing anybody badmouth the Olympics. It is incredible that a tradition like this has withstood the test of time in a world where nothing is pure and nothing has its sweet anymore and nothing is like, wow, we all just gather here to do this thing that our. Not always our ancestors, like, I don't think our ancestors were doing trampoline, but like, it's just an international sports competition that's like, I don't know, just stop hating on the Olympics. It rules. The stories are amazing, the athletes are amazing. Especially these people that are like professional athletes make way too much money and then they don't care when the Olympics come around and you're like, well, these are the athletes you claim to want. These are the people who have to work like part time jobs when their sport's not really in itself prime. And they live for these moments at the Olympics. These are the athletes you claim to want everybody to be. So anyway, Mark Cuban, I think you're wrong and I think that the Olympics are great. And please don't take. I love that Kevin Durant is one of our most decorated Olympians. Don't take that away from me. We have one more billionaire's ruining sports. English club Chelsea defeated French club PSG. Paris Saint Paris Saint Germain. Is that good? Paris. Paris Saint Germain. Correct.
Isabella
Saint Germain.
Katie Nolan
Paris Paris Saint Germain on Sunday to win the 2025 Club World Cup. But for some reason, American President Donald Trump was A significant part of the post game festivities. He was booed loudly when he appeared on the stadium screens alongside first lady Melania Trump. And again when he walked onto the pitch to present medals to the players with FIFA president Gianni Infantino. That's Italian for giant Bab. Who confirmed last week that FIFA opened a new office in New York City's Trump Tower. Oh, good. Oh, good. They're getting to get. The girls are working together. More confusion was sparked online when the President remained with the Chelsea players on stage as they celebrated having already handed captain Rhys James the trophy. Trump remained standing there despite being waved off to leave. Chelsea has since Photoshopped him out of their official championship.
Isabella
Oh, no.
Katie Nolan
That's just like, remove all the proper nouns of it. And it's just like. It's like, deeply embarrassing. It's like my soul is cringing at the thought of. As a person who's constantly going, am I in the way? I'm sorry. Am I in the way? I'm sorry. To just not care or ask. And someone's going, you're in the way. And you're just like, thumbs up. This is where I belong. And then they have to Photoshop you out of the official picture. Also, I believe Brady was in that box that had Infantino and Trump.
Brady
Not out Brady.
Isabella
Like I was gonna say, you were there.
Katie Nolan
Brady's in there getting the scoop. Brady's out there going, listen, guys, breaking news. Brady, no, sorry, Tom Brady. Trump also revealed that the trophy Chelsea received is a replica. This. I'm gonna flag this as. I don't know if I believe this, but whatever. The original trophy is in the Oval Office. After FIFA president Gianni Infantino, again Italian for giant baby, visited the White House in March. Quote, this is Trump's quote. They said, could you hold this trophy for a little while? We put it in the Oval Office. And then I said, when are you going to pick up the trophy? He says, we're never going to pick it up. You can have it forever in the Oval Office. We're making a new one. And they actually made a new one. So that was quite exciting. It's in the Oval right now. He added, why wouldn't they give a replica to the President? Why wouldn't they have made a replica? I bet that's what happened.
Chris
You think they gave him an unplugged controller?
Katie Nolan
Yes. And they said, you're playing. Great job. We'll let the real players just play with a fake one. Because you hold on to ours for a little while. Like, he's Storage. Hey, do you mind if I leave this here in the White House?
Isabella
That's what I do with my parents when I'm like, have too much stuff. I'm like, hey, like, be careful, be careful.
Katie Nolan
Because eventually they just send it back to you in a box. And if you live in a New York City apartment, you go, I have nowhere for these beanie babies. Please take these back. So Trump won the Club World Cup. I think. Is that headline zooming out? Trump won the Club World Cup. Congrats to him for his hard work on the field. Pitch. On the pitch. Oh, and where.
Isabella
Where did they. Guy, where did they play?
Katie Nolan
Guys, where did they play in America?
Isabella
Where was it Exactly?
Chris
It's at MetLife, wasn't it?
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Isabella
Where's MetLife?
Katie Nolan
In New Jersey? Is this a quiz? What's happened? It's. You just wanted us to say New Jersey. She just started playing New Jersey. Mention plays with her hair. I live there.
Isabella
There have been signs on the highways when I'm driving where it's like, soccer game up north Saturday or whatever. Whenever it was, it's like, keep mindful of traffic.
Katie Nolan
So soccer game up north? Yeah.
Isabella
They didn't even say what it was. It just said soccer game. I was like, damn. Like, why is there so much, you know, traffic notice for just a soccer game? Like, which one is it?
Katie Nolan
To me, the most. To me, the most important thing that Trump said in whatever interview this was that he did, was this on Sirius xm. No good. This was on Dazn, I believe, which means that it is. If a tree falls on Dazn, does it make a sound? He said that he was thinking about signing. Probably a joke, an executive order to name, rename soccer football. And to that I say, sir, what happened to America? First, we call it soccer here. That's for the guy who's America for. You think he'd go like, I don't care that they call it football. We call it soccer here, call it soccer here, or leave. But he was like, yeah, I could sign an executive order and make everybody call it football. I'll just sell that right out. I won't stand up for that at all. Stand up for our American. This is where I take my strong stance. Trump, please stand up for America and keep calling it soccer. Won't you consider the American? So anyway, billionaires ruining sports. The American Century Championship happened this weekend. What day of the week is it? This.
Chris
Millionaires playing sports.
Katie Nolan
Okay, this is famous people playing. How do you get invited to the American Century Championship?
Chris
Gotta have money.
Katie Nolan
Why what is this? Is this the rest of the podcast? We get this.
Chris
It's hard to snap in and out.
Katie Nolan
Former Major League Baseball star Jimmy Rollins claimed his first ever career hole in one on the 12th hole on Saturday and won 301, a $325,000 boat. That's crazy. That's. They just gave him a boat.
Brady
Better than winning the actual.
Katie Nolan
I know I would take the boat. Are you kidding me? This is the third straight year a pro athlete won a boat with a hole in one at acc. Former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown did it last year, and Golden State warriors legend Steph Curry did it the year before that. This also makes me think of when, like, a game show or Oprah gives away a car. And. And then, like, people are like, yeah, the payments on this car are a lot, and I can't actually enjoy it. So I feel like maybe giving rich athletes a boat is maybe one of the only safe ways that you can give somebody a boat. Because the upkeep on a boat, from what I hear, not cheap.
Chris
Happiest day of man's life to the happiest day of a man's life when he buys his boat. The second happiest days when he sells his boat. Everybody wants a boat. Nobody. Just keep the boat.
Katie Nolan
I'll take your boat if you don't want it. Jimmy. I don't have anywhere to put it, but I'd take a boat. Yeah, I'll put it next to my beanie babies. Jimmy Rollins got a hole in one. Aaron Rodgers. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. That's so. That's still weird. Offered some tough love to a fan at the American. I'm sure we're calling it tough love at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament over the weekend. A video posted to social media on Sunday showed Rogers walking to the next hole at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada. Nevada. How do they. Do they get mad if you say it wrong? I don't know, because, like, I feel like Oregon gets mad if you say it wrong. Whatever, you guys. You've clearly not been abused by the Internet before for saying something incorrectly. When a kid yelled out that the NFL star almost hit him. Almost doesn't count. Rogers responded as he strolled towards the tee box.
Chris
Yeah, I mean, it's also how vaccinations work. Whoa.
Katie Nolan
Also, what happened to horseshoes and hand grenades? We don't say that part anymore. Almost doesn't count. Well, it does in two specific scenarios, and I'd like you to name them to that child's Face, please. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. You might be wondering who won this storied event. That would be former NHL player Joe Pavelski. He closed with an eagle, a thrilling putt to beat former pitcher John Smoltz by nine points in a wire to wire victory in the celebrity event. Big week for former hockey players on the golf course. This was this next part not at the acc, but somewhere. Do we know where it was in Canada? We didn't talk about this last week, but a guy who we now know is named Trevor Ogilvy got into a fight on a golf course with a guy he thought was probably just a guy, but was actually Nick Tarnaski, a former enforcer in the National Hockey League. And Katie, can you take a pause.
Chris
To explain to Isabella what a hockey enforcer's job is?
Katie Nolan
So, Isabella, a hockey enforcer is basically the guy who gets out on the ice and roughs up the other team, fights them or hits them. He's a very physical player. Usually they are less skilled in terms of like assists and goals.
Isabella
Oh, this is someone on the team. It's not like a ref or something, okay?
Katie Nolan
No, it's seen as like a self regulating sport. So it's like if you're getting, if you have a dirty hit on one of their star players or if you, you know, something that is seen as an offense, then they'll send out their enforcer on you. And he's basically just their big goon who's there to beat you up. And so the fact that this guy on a golf course. Drunk guy, Very drunk, Super drunk, the most drunk. Sorry. Was talking shit to a gigantic, former scariest type of hockey player and then proceeded to have his ass kicked three different ways. I believe he was thrown into a pond was the beginning. And then, very funny off camera, somebody said, off to a good start, bud. Thrown into a pond. Then I think after that was when he got held by the shirt, which is a very hockey thing. They grab you by the jersey to sort of stabilize because you're both on skates. So he grabbed him by his shirt and as he's punching him, he's yelling, bam. He's just like, bam.
Isabella
Emerald style. Nice.
Katie Nolan
And then I think there was like a third way. I think he tossed him again like a Frisbee. Yeah, he absolutely beat the guy up. The video went viral. Everybody was talking about it. The guy who got his ass kicked has since released an apology video. Basically saying, I, I was. He's like, yeah, I. We played 36 holes of golf that day. I Was drunk. He seemed very contrite. I've never seen somebody be so sorry for getting their own ass kicked. I had. I had read a headline that I'm hoping becomes nothing. That I guess Tarnaski now is like a coach for a team. Like a minor something, maybe like even a kid's team. And they were, like, investigating the video. So hopefully this apology plus the video itself showing that he was provoked. He kept saying, you don't want this. You do not want this.
Chris
He was very honest in that.
Katie Nolan
Yes. And Trevor was like, I do want this. And then he got it.
Chris
So Tarnowski, like, didn't approach him.
Katie Nolan
No.
Chris
Ogilvy, who was six inches shorter, just kept coming after him.
Katie Nolan
Wouldn't stop. Really unadvisable. And the advice that he gave at the end of his apology was stick to 18. So. And that's to be clear holes on a golf course. Don't use that as advice for anything else in your life. I would say over 18.
Brady
I just want to introduce Isabelle's idea of an enforcer ref in the NHL. That'd be fascinating. Rather than blowing, like, a whistle, do you just.
Katie Nolan
Like.
Isabella
That's what I was like. This is a ref doing this.
Katie Nolan
I get what she's saying. Because from the outside, as enforcer, sounds like somebody who makes sure that the rules are. And it technically is what he does. He just does it with his fists. Yeah, he's sort of like. You know how in baseball they say that, like, if you're, you know, crowding the plate or if you, like, enjoy hitting your home run too much, or if you're caught stealing signs the G. It regulates itself. The pitcher will throw the ball, like, at the player. It's like self. It's self regulation. So he's in hockey's version of that.
Isabella
And you can do that without.
Katie Nolan
You're not supposed to. I'm doing air quotes to the. It's like, not, but it is. It's like an unwritten, unspoken, like, way of the game.
Brady
What if, though? What if, like, instead of going to the penalty box, the ref just punches.
Katie Nolan
A guy, punched somebody? I don't. I've seen a couple refs take hits in a way that I'm like, every now and then they should get to throw one.
Brady
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Just to be hilarious. Just to show that, like, there should.
Isabella
Be a ref per team, you know?
Katie Nolan
Okay. They're not going to get a little. They might. Conflict of interest. There's. But I think if we workshop this. No bad ideas in a brainstorm, we can get this to someone.
Isabella
Oh, no, no, no. How about this? The coaches of each team can fight.
Katie Nolan
Okay, sure. Just to. On the White House lawn.
Isabella
Sure. Yes.
Katie Nolan
I think that works for me. I'm actually super into that. Speaking of which, I guess we should talk about Conor McGregor and his weightlifting member. Aspiring White House lawn fighter Conor McGregor was trending all over social media for the wrong reasons on his birthday. I hate this. Several explicit pictures of the former UFC 2 division champion were shared on social media by rapper Azealia Banks after she accused. I also feel like I have to say this because I've. I've talked about her to white people before and they've been thinking I meant Iggy Azalea the whole time. So let me just right now state before we get any deeper into this story, those aren't the same people. In case you didn't already know that Azealia Banks accused the Irishman of sexual harassment. The post on X, which was taken down by the platform for violating their content policy.
Chris
So they do have one.
Katie Nolan
I was gonna say, good to know that's still there because I thought it was gone. It included two screenshots of pictures that show McGregor fully nude in front of a mirror. I'm quoting Azealia Banks here. How you gonna send a bitch some crooked dick pics and then threaten her not to tell at the notorious mma N word. Do you know who the fuck I am? This is haram. Like, how are you really going to sexually harass me with the potato farmer dick, then threaten me not to tell? Honey, ain't you trying to be the president of Ireland? What is it giving fam? Use some fucking sunscreen, Damn. Our official position as a podcast on Azealia Banks 212 is a banger. Okay? It has to be said 212 is a banger. She's also sometimes been capable of, like, issuing what many would call a read. She has read a couple people to filth. But then there's other times that you're like, all right, we could log off. Controversial, of course. A controversial figure. Isabel, do you have a strong opinion?
Isabella
Love her music. This was the wrong person to send dick pics to.
Katie Nolan
I mean, this is. My theory is that Conor McGregor has like a humiliation kink because there's no other reason you would send that. You had to know she was going to publish.
Isabella
That's what I'm saying.
Katie Nolan
There's no way know who she is. You know, she's not gonna not tell everybody that you did this. And so that's why I've Got to skip that and go. He wanted that. That this was the wanted outcome. He wanted us to see that. Brady confirmed for me that this is real because I'm not doing the Googling on it that his penis could lift.
Chris
Oh, wait, I hate that I had to be the one to confirm that.
Katie Nolan
You are the producer. So technically.
Chris
Heavy is the head. Yes.
Katie Nolan
What weights was he lifting? Is he lifting with his penis? The weights that I use at the gym. Like the, like the little ones? Like the ones that come in, like, hot pink.
Isabella
No, it's a kettlebell. Maybe there's a.
Chris
There is no answer. Where it's a tolerable amount of weight.
Katie Nolan
He tied a knot around a kettlebell is crazy. Dan's not sending me the right dick pics. A weight has never been involved. Get creative. Hello, You're a creative. Do something. That's my takeaway. We also should say confirmed. Klay Thompson and Megan Thee, Stallion. I know. I was like, what? That might could be anybody, but it, it is. They are dating. Megan Thee, Stallion and Klay Thompson essentially announced they were dating this week, both sharing discreet yet obvious snaps of one another on Instagram. First, the rapper posted some bathing suit shots. That's what we talked about. Luxurious pool with a mystery man in the back. Then, on Saturday, Klay Thompson posted a carousel of moments in his recent life. The one, the one he has to live, that appeared to include Meghan and a trip to the Bahamas. In one shot, he's kissing a woman with her back turned to us. In another, he is holding a woman's manicured hand. The manicure matches the same color and shape Meghan was wearing poolside. There's an editorial note in here that indicates Brady's may be annoyed by this. Let's hear it. Brady Mini yap.
Chris
Fucking annoyed by it.
Katie Nolan
Come.
Chris
If you're going to announce something, just announce it. Just, just, just say, like, that we're together. This is our thing. I don't need a series of one after the other. Cryptic. I'm in the background standing here, blurry. Or like, oh, no, leave a trail of breadcrumbs. This is Meghan's French manicure. Or I don't need some sort of. I don't need a system of clues.
Katie Nolan
Just.
Chris
Just come on, say it.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I need.
Chris
I, I, I, I like things bluntly laid out. I don't want to have to jump through hoops to have to figure out if you two are in a relationship together. This is the same energy as complex gender reveals. Just tell me if it's a Goddamn boy or a girl child. I'm taking my pasta salad and going home. I don't need to be here. People popping balloons or swinging at Wiffle balls filled with colorful confetti or popping colorful champagne, whatever the hell else is going on here. Send a goddamn Max text that says, I'm having a girl put out Instagram post.
Katie Nolan
This is.
Chris
Hi. Megan and I are happy in our relationship. This doesn't have to be a production. Not everything needs this sort of behavior.
Isabella
Mic drop.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, let it out.
Isabella
I know. Whatever happened to Facebook relationship statuses? Like you would just put it out there.
Katie Nolan
I don't even think. Can I say something crazy? I don't even think Dan Soder and I are friends on Facebook.
Isabella
Sam, are you even in love?
Katie Nolan
I haven't logged into Facebook since we started dating. I haven't. We don't even. I don't. I feel bad about that. I should probably get on there and change. Change it.
Isabella
I think. I think he's okay. I think he'll be fine.
Katie Nolan
I hope he's not feeling insecure in our relationship because I haven't posted about him on Facebook.
Isabella
Did you even change your relationship status on there?
Katie Nolan
No. No, ma'. Am. It probably says it's complicated because I always thought that was so funny that you could choose that as an option. Everything's complicated. What are you single or not? How about that Labubus post? Did you see that, Isabella?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
When she's sitting on Clay's lap while she's showing us all the expensive Labuboos that he bought. Oh, really?
Isabella
That's cute.
Katie Nolan
Chris, you have thoughts on Labubus?
Brady
I have no idea what that is.
Katie Nolan
And you know why that is?
Brady
Why?
Katie Nolan
Because you're off of social media.
Brady
Is it a social media thing?
Katie Nolan
Labubus are like this. This generation's Beanie Babies. They are little dolls. Cutesy little dolls. Do they cost a lot of money? I haven't even looked into. I won't have it. Same in this trend.
Isabella
Some people, like, attach them. They're like little keychains. You can attach them to your bag.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I don't judge anybody who. Who does. I just do not participate in this. They are collectible, designer plush toy monster elves. So there's a bunch of adjectives for you and nouns. Labubu dolls are expensive due to a combination of factors, including high demand, limited supply, celebrity endorsements, and the collectible nature of the toys. The blind box format, where buyers don't know what specific doll they're getting, adds to the allure and Resale value, I assume also adds to the return policy. That is like a tell me what I'm buying so that I can buy the one I like. But anyway, there's a video of Megan thee stallion sitting on. You just see this is gonna piss Brady off. You don't really see him. You just see his hands on her.
Isabella
Wait, is it like first person. Like she's recording.
Katie Nolan
She's recording herself and you see like his legs and then you see the way he touches her.
Chris
Oh, we're gonna make them guess whether or not this is Klay Thompson.
Katie Nolan
It is very. Yeah.
Isabella
Because what if it's Tom Brady?
Katie Nolan
You know my. My favorite angle of this. I saw a woman tweet. Her name is Jerlisa Nicole. I don't think she's like famous or anything. I just saw this tweet. Nobody wanted Klay Thompson but me. Then here comes Megan big booty ass smh. Jesus Christ. It's like, sorry. It's so funny. The like, nobody liked him. I picked and then. Okay, so the replies that are funny. Someone said girl, lmao. When that news dropped, I said, I can't have shit. I woke up sick. When the news dropped, we. It was just funny. I love shout out to the women who were like, I'm gonna be reasonable with my NBA crush. I'm gonna go for Klay Thompson. Not a high in demand player. Not the hottest, not the greatest. I'm gonna. It's like when I had a crush on JC instead of Justin Timberlake because I knew I was like, I'm not gonna get the guy. I'll get the second. Who's also very talented. But you picked the second splash brother. And then you still lost him to Megan thee stallion, the hottest woman on earth. Let's talk MLB all star. As it is upon us, the Home Run Derby was last night. Monday night, big dumper one. Kind of controversial for some. Isabelle, did you catch any of it? Did you see any of it?
Isabella
No.
Katie Nolan
It was fun. It was a fun little. People have a lot to say about the format. Every year with the Home Run Derby, people have a lot to say about the format.
Isabella
They're upset there's no horses.
Katie Nolan
Where are the livestock? They are this time was the first round is timed. It's. I'm not going to go through all the rules because they're kind of a lot. But there was a lot of bonus rounds. I was surprised by how every round had the like. And now you get three guaranteed outs and you get to just hit home runs until you don't it was, I think my only note. Too many home runs is too many rounds. Too many home runs.
Chris
Odd take for a home run derby.
Katie Nolan
But it was just like the amount of home runs they were expected to hit was just so many. It's like again, more again.
Isabella
You know, I don't know much about a home run derby, but if I were to guess a lot.
Katie Nolan
You did guess are good. You did guess and you said horses so this would be your second guess.
Isabella
Shut up.
Katie Nolan
But it was fun. And going into it, I was nervous for Big Dumper Cal Raleigh because he, his father, he picked his father to throw to him and his brother to be his catcher. So sometimes you'll see guys do that and you're like, oh, dad did not get the memo. You need to go a lot faster, put the ball where he wants it. And it was a fun experience watching with my dad because I'm home watching a dad pitch to his son in the home run Derby. My dad was being very critical of the dad. He was like, get the pitches up, dad. He likes him up in the zone, dad. That's a little too low, dad.
Chris
But in his defense, Cal Raleigh's dad was the head coach at the University of Tennessee for four years.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, he like is good at baseball stuff.
Chris
So it's not like, like my dad would be like, I don't know if your pinpoint accuracy is going to help me. Todd Raleigh was doing it.
Katie Nolan
My dad. If I had asked him if somehow this scenario worked out where I'm in the home run Derby and I called him to ask him, my dad wouldn't even. My dad wouldn't even go like, are you sure? I don't think we should. My dad would go, let me check my schedule. I could do it. That would 100% be his response. It would be not excited, practical and in no way actually practical. It would be like no part of him would go like, ah, hun, I think you should pick somebody else. He would go, if I'm free.
Chris
I would pick Randy Rabusi, which was Michael Ribusi's dad from my high school team. And through the greatest BP in the history of growers. I worry that my dad would be offended that I just picked some other kid's dad.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I would think so. If you're gonna just pick a dad.
Chris
You'Ve never seen a Randy Rabusi BP before. Well, that was. Oh man. There is no, no repetitive motion like a Randy motion.
Isabella
I would choose Carly Rae Jepsen. She seemed like she had a good pitch.
Katie Nolan
Right. Not a single one. No, no, no. She had no awareness of where the plate was.
Isabella
Even I can meet her where she throws. Where she throws that ball.
Katie Nolan
I'll come to you. You put it wherever. I'll come to you, Big dumper. The first favorite to win the Home Run Derby since Bryce Harper in 2018. He joins Ken Griffey Jr. Who won it three times, as the only Mariners to win the event. He ties this. His win ties the Mariners with the Yankees for most Home Run Derby wins at 4. Most home runs by any Home Run Derby winner going into the all star break with 38. He was the first catcher. Did I say that yet? The first catcher to win.
Chris
Which I would have sworn Salvador Perez won. But that's totally Mandela effect on me.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. This says the biggest drama came in the finals. I disagree, but I will read this. The biggest drama came in the finals. Were rally faced, raised. Third baseman Junior Caminero and Camino had a home run robbed by a young fielder who jumped. So Isabel, they put kids in the outfield. I mean, some of them didn't look like kids, but I'll use the phrasing kids in the outfield to like, catch the ones that don't get out. And this kid jumped up over the fence and like caught a ball that would have been a home run. And he robbed Junior of a home run. I thought that was kind of funny.
Chris
Reverse Jeffrey Mayer, talk to school.
Isabella
Oh, Jeffrey Mayer.
Katie Nolan
She knows who that is. And she'll never forget.
Isabella
I'll never forget. Now I'm looking.
Chris
Should never forget.
Katie Nolan
I thought the biggest drama came from the fact that in order to get through the first round into the second round, they took the top four total home runs. And Cal Raleigh hit the same number of home runs as Brent Rooker. But they said that. That Cal Rawlies went like a fraction of a foot further. Brady, do you have the actual numbers?
Chris
They said 1 inch on the broadcast and I'm just. I couldn't call BS harder than that.
Katie Nolan
It was not an inch. They eventually showed us the real numbers and they were down to the. It was like 10 decimal points, which I. Are they using sensors in the balls?
Chris
It's all like, just like radar tracking of where the ball. Like the angle it comes off and the.
Katie Nolan
Sure.
Chris
And the velocity of it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, sure. And whatever it is, I believe in it to a point. But that point is not 10 decimal points. I do not think that they can tell how many atoms further this ball went in nanotech than fucking the other. It just seemed a little Close. And it's. And if you were putting on your tinfoil hat and saying a conspiracy, you might say that they wanted Cal to go through to the next round as he is electric, as he has boogie woogie boogie, a big dumper and. And leads the league in home runs. He. Everybody wanted him to move on. And then he did.
Chris
Brent Rooker also being the representative of the A's who play in the city of.
Katie Nolan
They don't have a team. They. Yeah. So it's like, of course they wouldn't want him to move on. But he did an interview afterwards where he was basically like, yeah, I don't know. That's seems kind of weird to me, which I would probably do the same thing. But then everybody, of course, goes, it's just the Home run Derby, man. Just like, be chill about it. And fine. But I don't know. Our dear friend, friend of the show, Vinnie Pasquantino, was tweeting live, tweeting the whole thing. Pretty funny. And he. And he said that he thought it should have come down to a swing off. I would say for an event that changes its rules every 30 seconds, maybe we add that to the rules. Maybe if two guys hit it the same distance, they have a swing off instead of having it come down to the. To the inches or something. But that was.
Chris
Tweet about Cal Raleigh was golden. Vinnie just tweeting, oh, I'm Cal Raleigh. Quote, oh, I'm Cal Raleigh. I hit a lot of home runs. I hit from both sides of the plate. I play the most valuable position. I have one of the coolest nicknames in sports. Screw you, man.
Katie Nolan
And people didn't get it. People didn't get it. And people were mad. And then Vinnie had to say, I was trying to do a meme. I was just kidding. I love Cal Raleigh. So that's fun.
Chris
Double down.
Isabella
You know, when the Mets were playing the Kansas City Royals, I feel like I wasn't really that good of a Mets fan because when I saw Vinnie at bat, I was like, oh, my God, go Vinnie.
Katie Nolan
I know him. Yeah, I do that too. I feel. Against the Giants, whenever, like, he. I feel bad, but I'm like, we know him. He's our. This is our friend. We have to root for him.
Isabella
Exactly.
Katie Nolan
So we love Vinnie. And if you don't get his jokes, it's. Come on. Must be mentioned that the Yankees representative at the home run Derby, Jazz Chisholm. Three home runs. One, two, three.
Isabella
That's good. I'm not.
Katie Nolan
No.
Isabella
I don't know if that's. You look because you were upset about the three.
Katie Nolan
Three home runs.
Isabella
That sounds good to me.
Katie Nolan
Three.
Isabella
Katie, you're just saying it again.
Katie Nolan
Is that good in a round when the leader in that round hit 22, I believe. Was it 22? Oh, jazz hit three.
Chris
I like Isabella's perspective. That, like, that fence is really far away.
Katie Nolan
So true. I don't know how anybody's.
Isabella
I couldn't do three.
Katie Nolan
You're absolutely right. I could do two. If my dad's pitching BP or Brady's old coach, I could do two. Asked about it later, he had a good attitude about it. Fine, he's a Yankee, so let me just be whatever. But he said in an interview later, I believe, with John Boy, that he was trying to keep his swing, not hit homers. And that next year, if at the All Star break he has 20 or more homers, he'll do it again and he will try to hit home runs that time.
Chris
Okay, but that's like showing up to the hot dog eating contest and being like eating too and be like, I.
Katie Nolan
Put ketchup on it. I just like it with ketchup.
Chris
Cutting carbs, man.
Katie Nolan
I know it's. I know it's slowed me down a lot, but without the relish, I don't really enjoy it. So I did have to put that on each dog trying to keep my swing next year. If I do, if I get 20, I'll. I'll try to hit home runs at the Home Run Derby. The MLB draft we're not going to talk about. I don't. I tuned into it and I tuned immediately out.
Chris
Just ended.
Katie Nolan
By the way, that's crazy. I don't know why we're trying to make this draft like other leagues drafts. I don't think it's going to work. I. Maybe it will. Maybe I'll be wrong. Play this back and make fun of me, but it's too many rounds. It's. It doesn't mean as much. And whatever they did this year where they were like in some weird venue with people that it looked like were paid to be there and a bunch of mascots, it was like phony energy. I did not like and I hated that there was no Sunday night baseball on the night before, like the big. So I don't know. I didn't like it. Sorry. Personal opinion, Mr. Met. Oh, well, I guess speaking of the Mets and speaking of the draft, we should mention that Michigan second baseman Mitch Voight, who you all know from snorting the line at third base in celebration, was picked by the Mets. Drafted with the 38th pick in the first round, Voight finished his junior season with the Wolverines, hitting.346. So he's pretty good.
Isabella
We got a guy who knows how to party, and I like that.
Katie Nolan
Hell yeah. That's really important. Also, while we're doing ball sports, our team in the AWSL has qualified for the postseason. Let's get a round of applause.
Brady
Shout out to go Talons.
Katie Nolan
The Talons, they rule. And we are happy for you. Now back to Mr. Met. Did the Lumineers play at Citi Field? Is that what this was? So they played a concert at Citi Field, and Mr. Met came on stage. And while the band was playing the song ophelia, they tossed Mr. Met the tambourine and he missed it. So strike one. And then after missing it, picking it up, dancing around with it, Mr. Met walked off stage like. Like. And I don't mean like he exited the stage. I mean like he tried to walk on the stage and the stage was shaped differently than he thought. And his foot stepped down. And instead of there being stage there, there was nothing. And he fell under the stage, quickly got up, shook it off, kept going. But just overall, two minutes of a performance for Mr. Met there real bad. From the missing of the tambourine to the falling off the stage. So go look it up. It's pretty funny. And we have to mention, while we're talking about All Star festivities, we said that a bunch of friends of the podcast were in the celebrity All Star softball game, one of which being Jake Boy, the legal name of Jake from John Boy. And he hit a home run, an inside the park home run, which Isabella knows what that is. Cause we just talked about it.
Chris
Off of hauling ass.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, he hit it off of Quavo from Migos. The. No, just because migos, he went 3 for 3 in the game. Two singles in an inside the park homer. He also caught a ball in left field. I saw him. Oh, that was in the Home Run Derby. I saw him, like, dive for the ball. Just an impressive performance all around. Did you see the video of Jeff Passon talking to him about it, saying that he wasn't impressed?
Chris
That's very Jeff.
Katie Nolan
He's like, everybody's celebrating you because you hit a home run. It wasn't a home run. You just hit the ball and then ran like an old man around the bases. I won't be congratulating you.
Chris
To be fair. Questionable defense by Drew Ski at shortstop. Letting that get through. Also very questionable managing, putting Drew Ski at shortstop for this at bat question.
Katie Nolan
All of it's questionable. It's the celebrity game. Nobody knows what they're doing. But our little Jake, boy, did he shine. And I'm just happy to see it. For a Sagittarius moon, I think he did a fantastic job. The Red Sox have won 10 games in a row. Chris, I think you said we're running out of time, so I don't have time to expound upon what it might be that has caused them to. They've won 10 games in a row and have not lost since meeting Donald Trump. He truth. Truth about it. I don't know what it's called when you post on that website that nobody uses but him, but he posted on Truth Social that the Sox haven't lost since they shook his hand. And that's. It's true. I will also say they have not lost since Garrett Crochet visited the zoo. That's my narrative. The Red Sox have not lost since Garrett Crochet visited the zoo. So thanks, animals. Thank you, Giraffe, for this 10 game win streak. I'm terrified. Brady, when's the official deadline for Major League Baseball trade? Deadline? When is it?
Chris
July 31st.
Katie Nolan
So that's coming up quickly. I'm just afraid as a Sox fan, because I don't. There was a time there where they were like, wow, I guess we're not going to have a good season, so we're going to be selling at the, at the deadline. And then now it's like everyone's saying they're buyers, so we'll see what they get and what happens. I am so confused by my baseball team this season. Every time I've given up on them, they do. Well, every time I root for them, they. They poop on my face. So I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this. It used to be a sport I'd watch to feel good. So I don't. We're. We're just, we're just gonna see what happens.
Chris
Okay, so last week you had a panic with JP that the Yankees were going to get Eugenio Suarez.
Katie Nolan
Okay?
Chris
Now that hasn't happened. The Red Sox have not lost since that point. And the Red Sox could really use not to rub salt in a wound, but a power hitting third base, first base type, huh? So let's just will this into existence. But if it doesn't move for you, Henio Suarez.
Katie Nolan
But if that doesn't happen, it will hurt then. And if he goes to the Yankees, it'll hurt twice. So in a world Where I try to manage my emotions without letting them get the best of me. It isn't healthy for me to be.
Chris
A Red Sox fan.
Katie Nolan
Sure. Good point. Okay, Gino. To the Sox. You heard it here first.
Chris
Will it.
Katie Nolan
My dad will not be. I just am already picturing the struggle of being like Ao Henio. Say it one more time. Ayo Henio. I don't think he's going to. I think he's going to call him Angina. Yeah, I think he's. We'll just tell him Gino. I'm just going to tell him it's Gino Suarez. That's fine. Yeah, that's Chris. While we're doing baseball, did you really quick want to talk about your Greensboro Grasshoppers?
Brady
Sure, if you want me to.
Katie Nolan
What happened?
Brady
So they actually pitched their second combined perfect game in the span of nine days. They, as a team, pitched their first franchise perfect game on the 4th of July, and then they did it again nine days later on the 13th of July.
Katie Nolan
Good math. Isabella, do you. What would you guess that is? Do you know what that is? What? A perfect game.
Isabella
I don't know. Do you just, like, have. Is it like a sweet score where one team has points and the other one is like zero points or something kind of close?
Brady
Okay, it does have to be that way, but it's not. You can. You can finish with zero runs and it still won't be a perfect game. It's when the other team doesn't make base.
Katie Nolan
No walks.
Brady
It's 27 up, 27 down.
Katie Nolan
No hits, no errors. Nobody ever gets on base. Perfect. Oh, wow. That's cool. Perfect. And they did it twice. It's cool.
Brady
In nine days. They'd never done it before.
Katie Nolan
That's cool.
Brady
Did it twice in nine days. Both of them combined. No hit. Combined. Perfect games combined.
Katie Nolan
Makes it less cool.
Brady
Very interesting.
Katie Nolan
Combined make it less cool, but a little less cool.
Brady
Very impressive team effort.
Katie Nolan
Yes.
Isabella
Shout out, Grasshoppers.
Brady
Shout out.
Katie Nolan
That's great. The cookie, the bug, and the team. Okay. Oh, also, Tobin Heath retired. I love Tobin Heath. Maybe we move that to Thursday. We're running out of time. I talk too much, but I couldn't get through this podcast without saying that Tobin Heath retired and we love her. And I do still want her to punch me in my face, even though she already technically punched me in my face. So shout out, Tobin Heath. Congrats on an incredible career. We'll talk, I guess, more. We'll probably have voicemails about that, right, Chris? People probably called us about that.
Brady
Certainly did.
Katie Nolan
We'll do that on Thursday. Also, the world's oldest marathon runner dies at 114 after being hit by a car.
Brady
No way.
Katie Nolan
Really? Really not what you would think.
Isabella
That's so sad.
Katie Nolan
At 114 to not die of a natural cause is. Was she like he turban. The turbaned tornado record breaker Fauja Singh was born in British ruled Punjab 114. That is so sad. RIP. Okay, let's real quick, let's get to our guest. Oh, I'm so excited. Kerry Walsh Jennings. You know the name. Beach volleyball legend. She's got three gold medals, one bronze medal, and I absolutely adore her. She's joining us now to promote Hampton volley. Coming up July 22nd in Montauk. It has been 10 years since I've seen you. It. That's crazy and offensive to me. I looked it up last night. I thought it had been seven and I saw the number. It said 10 years ago and then I cried.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Oh, well, all good things are worth the wait. But I know it's kind of insulting because I had a lot of fun. And then I just thought, you know, 10 years ago, and I just thought you just didn't like me. So I loved you.
Katie Nolan
I love you.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
How would I know?
Katie Nolan
I. Because I told you so much to your face. You were one of the first interviews. I was like, she is so accomplished. And what, like was nice. It just was like a nice, fun hang. You are like, are you still the most decorated beach volleyball Olympian I believe on earth?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Who's keeping track?
Katie Nolan
I am. Three golds and a bronze. I am like, this is. You are looking at your professional record. Do you ever just scroll through your Wikipedia and see all of the golds? It's insane.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
My Wikipedia says I'm married to a professional wrestler. Like WWF wrestler. At least it did before Casey Thomas Jennings. And that's not true.
Katie Nolan
So very funny.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You know, I have not done that because who has the time? But I have been, and this is going to be me tooting my own horn. So forgive me, but I've been inducted to a lot of hall of Fames lately.
Katie Nolan
Which ones?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, just literally two days ago, to the Team USA Olympic, which like, of all the hall of Fames in all of the world, right, that's the one you want to be in.
Katie Nolan
That's huge.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
It's huge. And so many of the other ones, I'm so honored to be in all of them, you know, my Federation, USA Volleyball and other things. But oftentimes they kind of get watered down. Because, you know, I don't know, it's like everyone's a goat these days. And I'm like, literally the opposite of the definition. Like, what are we going for? But so this one, it's, like, sacred. And they do, I think, once every two or four years. And it's, like, very deliberate. So it just felt like, whoa, good.
Katie Nolan
You deserve it, first of all. Second of all, I agree with that take. We're using goat way too much in sports. But third of all, I do think you are the goat of beach volleyball.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, Katie, I'll just. I'll just receive that. And I think. I think it has to go on record that there has to be a big arguable in front of that.
Katie Nolan
Sure.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
And also, it's like when you're in a team sport, it's just kind of a silly conversation because it's like, none of it happens without your partner. So.
Katie Nolan
Yes, of course.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
And my partners were the dopest of all the humans in the world. So, you know.
Katie Nolan
Okay, fair enough.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I think, as a team.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
And I had great partners, a couple of them, but Misty May Trainor and I, as we are the goat team.
Katie Nolan
Thank you. She said it. She said, not arguable, claiming it. Undisputed.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Undisputed.
Katie Nolan
Okay, so what are you working on right now? You got something going on out East Hampton Valley? Tell me all about it.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Are you coming?
Katie Nolan
I would love to. What is it? Do I have to wear a bathing suit? I need a new one. Where are we buying bathing suits from? Answer all of these questions in order.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Okay, well, we can go shopping. I get in next Thursday or this Thursday.
Katie Nolan
Great.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
So we're playing in Montauk. I created this Pro Am event, like, out of thin air. It's so incredible. The benefits are going to go to the Hampton Lifeguard association, which they're there to save lives and save all the, like, tourists who don't know what they're doing in the water and all the locals as well. So that's beautiful. Really good people. And then my foundation, P 1440 foundation. And basically it's a six on six beach volleyball tournament. I have eight of the best pros in the world coming. Every team is going to have a pro, a local lifeguard, and a model. And then we're going to have the community fill in. My oldest boy Joey's coming. He's going to play. I haven't played in two years. It's gonna be, like, bougie and understated and awesome, and it's.
Katie Nolan
I'm obsessed with This I know.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
On July 22nd, you're very invited. Your whole team is invited. We want beautiful, kind, amazing people. But thank you for allowing me to spread the word.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, of course. And when you say model, you mean like, literally, like a person who looks.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Pretty and is the word modeling agency. Oh, my gosh. And then our partners, they're called Contra and they're the co producers of the event and they work with all of the beautiful influencers who like. So they will reach out to their community and whoever is beautiful and has a great engagement socially and who is an authentic fit who loves sports, they're going to come. So it's like, we're not losing here. We have the most beautiful people with great hearts showing up for great causes and we have amazing sponsors coming out to have activations and Spiritual gangster is going to be there and slugs. And it's all for charity. Like, it's just, you know, like, you think bougie, Hamptons. I'm just going to go, you know, be bougie. But it's like we're getting back and God bless the bougie. Like, I love the bougie. I aspire to actually live in that space, but I'm not there yet. So this is just a little stepping stone to bring my beautiful sport, which has given me this most beautiful life, you know, to the East Coasters, who might not know the west coast vibe, you know.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, I got to. I'm writing down that I have to do crunches. I have to do a couple crunches.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Just a few.
Katie Nolan
It wouldn't kill me to do.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You know what?
Katie Nolan
Crunches before.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Let me give you a little. Okay, just don't eat for three days, first of all, and then just show up and. But I'm kidding. Don't eat a lot of protein.
Katie Nolan
That's like joking. Don't do opposite, kids.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Don't do that. Don't actually eat your protein right like that. Actually any good fat that helps you.
Katie Nolan
Like, like avocado, but.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Yeah, absolutely. But also, like, often people like, obviously look beautiful. I can't see your body, but you look beautiful and fit.
Katie Nolan
Thanks.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
But I know it's an inside job and, you know, it's. We all see what we see. But a lot of people, when we feel bigger, we go bigger with the bathing suits, but I think it's opposite. A little bit smaller because I don't know, it just helps. So keep that in mind when we're bathing suit shopping on. On Tuesday.
Katie Nolan
Okay. Skimpy. We go skimpy.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, it's a fine line.
Katie Nolan
Okay. Yeah. Cause you got. I mean, how are you when you're playing volleyball in a bikini? Are you using, like, fashion tape or are you just hoping it all stays, you know?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, you just get something that's sporty. Ish.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. Okay.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You know, and if you get a wedgie, you leave it. You know, there's just things you have to, like, settle for. But do you, you know, if you want to be sexy and wear the skimpy route.
Katie Nolan
No.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You just gotta be. You gotta be good with yourself in order to do that. I don't have that comfort right now. I. I don't have that, you know, confidence.
Katie Nolan
Summer surprises me every year. Every year I'm like, oh, it's time to put nonsense. It's crazy. Where'd this come from? I'm not ready. And then I get, like, my killer body by September, and then it's useless. Nobody wants it anymore.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I'm so mad at my May self. Who thought it would be like this.
Katie Nolan
How dare she? It's like, what an idiot. Has she never been here before? We need to work.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Okay, second. Second thing. So smaller bathing suit and then spray tan. Organic, obviously.
Katie Nolan
Yeah. And I know you're not married to a professional wrestler, but that is a professional wrestler tactic. They're big on the spray tan. It makes your body look.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, you want to look like a badass.
Katie Nolan
I am always afraid I'm going to pick the wrong color and I'm going to walk away looking like, you know, too much orange.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I've been there.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Yeah.
Katie Nolan
Then you just shower a lot, I guess, and hope it comes off. Exfoliate.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Exfoliate the hell out of yourself.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, exactly.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
It's a leap of faith, as is life.
Katie Nolan
Let's talk about women's sports in general. Every. Everywhere you go, everyone's saying women's sports. Having a moment. What is your perspective on this? And is this happening in volleyball as well? Are you feeling this, this growing movement?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Yes, I'm seeing it everywhere, obviously, led by the WNBA and Ms. Caitlin Clark, who is a bad mother. You know, I love it, and I just. I. You know, all the attention in woman sports in general. I want to thank the women's soccer for leading the chart. Initially, when they did it, I was like, does it have to be so antagonistic and, like, us versus them? And I judged it, and I hate that I judged it, because sometimes you have to come out and have that tone to get people to notice. So I'm grateful. So I take that back. And in volleyball yeah, dude, it's like this. It's like crazy. On the youth movement, the collegiate movement, the pro movement, we have a couple leagues now here in America, and may the best one win. But there's so much opportunity in our game and on the. In the beach side. That's why I'm here. I need to. We need a beach pro tour. We need something that these athletes can, like, make money here in America, where we're not an Olympic sport. We're like the NBA, where we're. Every year. That's where our sport is lacking, you know, because it's almost like the kiss of death when you're an Olympic sport, you know, it does so well. And you're like, volleyball in general is like the best thing once for two weeks every four years. But we have many other weeks and many other years to fill in the gaps. And. And that's my mission in indoor and beach right now.
Katie Nolan
A good mission. And I think you'll be successful. Well, thank you.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, I hope you can shout from the rooftops that everyone should show up to every single game.
Katie Nolan
Hey, everybody. Show up to every single game. There it is. This is my little meet it with.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
A good attitude and buy things.
Katie Nolan
Okay. It'll be easier when you're not here. I can do. I can give, like, a better sell. I can really tell them to get over there.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Try harder, please.
Katie Nolan
The Olympics in 2028, coming to LA. Exciting. I am stressed out by it. It's stressing me out. I don't even live on that coast, but just the thought of the infrastructure is making me anxious. But a lot of people are getting very excited about la. You will obviously, I assume, like, be there and be a part of things. I hope.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I hope, you know. Yeah. I mean, first of all, let's just acknowledge that you can be excited and anxious at the same time. I think that's actually like kind of a high performers, like happy point, you know, is both those things and. But it's gonna be. It could be a poop show, but it's gonna be a great poop show because the Olympics unites the world.
Katie Nolan
A poop show.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You know, I'm trying to work on my PG13 voice.
Katie Nolan
Very good. That's. I've just never heard it. I've never heard of a poop show. But you're right. That is the safe way.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Imagine it.
Katie Nolan
Imagine I am.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Yeah, yeah. It could be that. No, it's going to be wonderful. And obviously the organizing committee is going to just.
Katie Nolan
They.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
They need to beat Paris. Like, I Think that's what every Olympics tries to do, is kind of outdo the one before. And Paris did such an amazing job. So much grace and integrity, and it was just beautiful. And LA will do it L. A s way, you know, a little more urban, a little more, you know, diverse and. And very California and very American. And so I'm excited for that level of obnoxious patriotism to come back to America. I think we need it.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
In the Olympics, nothing is pure anymore because we're not in the 80s anymore or the 70s or whatever. It was pure. But the Olympics is a pretty beautiful and pure movement, you know, and so I'm excited to be part of it in whatever capacity, whether that's with NBC or with my federation. I certainly want to help amplify the great things going on, but, you know, they got to choose me, so we'll see.
Katie Nolan
Well, they will. They'd be stupid not to. And I'm sure that they agree.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I can.
Katie Nolan
I obviously agree with you on the Olympics. We were talking earlier about. I don't know if you saw this story. It's very niche, so why would you have. But Mark Cuban was talking about basketball and the NBA letting their players participate in the Olympics. And his take was basically that it's stupid and. And that NBA doesn't benefit from it at all and that they should be doing their own thing and not letting them participate in the Olympics. And I completely disagree with that. Yeah. And. And I'm curious to know. I'm not trying to put you on the spot to have a take, but I just feel like the Olympics are such a tradition that has happened for so long that I think that sometimes in America, people don't. I don't know, don't respect the Olympics the way that I wish that they would. And I feel like. So talk to me a little bit about. Because I know you agree with me, just what makes the Olympics so special and so important for athletes from all sports to participate in?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, it's just.
Katie Nolan
It's a.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
It's a sacred thing, you know, And I do. I think you're right that we used to. To have this reverence for Team USA and for the Olympics that has faded because we have these amazing leagues like the NBA and NFL and Major League Baseball and all these things. But it doesn't take away the sacredness of representing your country. And I think for the arguments to be made that it doesn't help the NBA. I don't think that's true. I know that watching. I'm going to botch his name. But the seven footer from San Antonio play for France. Like, that is incredible to see these NBA players who are not of American culture or heritage to come and compete against the best of Team usa, Like, that's amazing for the sport. It shows the growth and inspires countless kids around the world. So I think that's flawed and he's allowed to have his argument. And I know it's scary because these athletes get paid so much and why would they want to risk, you know, being hurt or overworked for two weeks of work that they're not getting financially compensated? But it's not always about the financial compensation. It's, that's it to me. And they have money, so. And dude. And I will never, like, Kobe Bryant has my heart forever. And one of my favorite things of every Olympics I went to was when Team USA Basketball showed up to the village and they're like the biggest things ever, right? And they turn into little boys, like, honored and stoked to be there because they knew it wasn't about them anymore. It was about this bigger thing. And that's priceless. And that to me is worth the price of admission, which for these NBA guys, it's a lot like they're, they're, they're giving up rest, they're giving up money, they're giving up time with their family. But to do something once every four years, that is legacy, that's bigger than them. And I think that's beautiful. You know, so. But yeah, then there's plenty of ways to argue this, but I just think fundamentally it's beautiful and it's worth it and maybe those. Yeah, I don't know what the answer is, But I think Mr. Cuban is off a little bit on this one.
Katie Nolan
How dare you not have the answer? How dare. No, I completely agree. I think it's. You're right. Short sighted. I think, like, sometimes, I know it's crazy for billionaires to hear, but sometimes there's things that are bigger than money. And participating in the Olympics and that tradition, it has so much weight and so much importance to you as a person, as an American who represents your country, as an athlete. I just feel like we need to put more respect on.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
It's profoundly fulfilling. Let me just say that. And it's a labor of love, right? Which, like, the higher the mountain when you get there, the more like rewarding it is, right? Especially if you like the people you're climbing the mountain with. And if it's all about money and you know, like, kind of, like, the return on the commitment. Do a good job of, like, celebrating these Olympic heroes who are on your teams.
Katie Nolan
Right.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
There's so many ways to crack this egg. I think ultimately the biggest kind of question mark is the injury thing and the overuse thing. And these guys need a break, which they do. They 100% do.
Katie Nolan
Yeah.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
But I think to point to this one tournament that's two weeks, once every four years as the problem.
Katie Nolan
Problem.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I don't think that's true.
Katie Nolan
It can't be. It can't be that the Olympics are what's breaking your athletes. That would be wild. Hey, that's my son, Joey.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Oh, he's mortified.
Katie Nolan
Hi, Joey. That's okay. That's all right. We can blur him out if he wants. How old?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
He's the cutest. He's the cutest.
Katie Nolan
How old is he?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
16. We have a driver in the house.
Katie Nolan
16. My baby.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I know.
Katie Nolan
Talking about how I know.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Dude. I know. I don't know. And he's good looking and he's charming and he. And he's very smart and kind and he loves his mother.
Katie Nolan
Is he available to other 16 year olds who may be interested in listening to this podcast?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
He has a. He has a beautiful girlfriend.
Katie Nolan
Oh, okay. Well, yeah, we wish.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Well, I just want to say that's out loud because she's the cutest thing and she's perfect in every way. She's literally the opposite of me.
Katie Nolan
What does that mean?
Kerry Walsh Jennings
She's this little and she. She's dark and she's ethnic and she's got sass and she's obviously beautiful. She's the opposite of me.
Katie Nolan
And I'm like.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Should I be insulted or proud? I think I'm. I'm a little.
Katie Nolan
Both.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
And she's a sweetheart and they're buddies, so. First girlfriend. Oh, my God.
Katie Nolan
Oh, my God. Young love.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Young love. There's so much parenting going on these days, Katie, and I don't know if I'm equipped, but I'm just gonna.
Katie Nolan
You're doing a great job from what I've heard.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
How can you tell from what I've heard that 10 years, when he's a young man in the world, you know how well we did.
Katie Nolan
But he's not. He didn't come in here with an attitude. He didn't walk through the back and yell at you. You guys seem to get along, and at 16, I think that's all parenting is, is you're just striving to get along with them in a way that they listen to you.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I agree. And I'm shocked he's awake because it's four. It's before noon.
Katie Nolan
So crazy. Well, good for him. He's got a. He's got a lot to accomplish today. I think he has a lot on the docket. Carrie, I could keep you here talking to you all day long, but, you know, we do eventually have to let you go. I'm so happy to have seen you. And I. Truly, no one on earth could invite me to something that requires me in a bathing suit. And I would say I might actually come. I might come see. I would love to see you when you're here.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I would love with all my heart. I would be.
Katie Nolan
I would.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
I probably will cry. And, you know, we can get you outfitted in slugs or spiritual gangster like. You don't need to wear a bikini, do you? Because I'm not going to wear a bikini because my ego's too big and I don't look like I'm in the Olympics anymore.
Katie Nolan
So we do all remember exactly what you look like in a bikini. So that must be difficult. Is you're like being compared to when you were at the peak of your physical fitness.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
It's not even about you and what you see. It's what I see. And I'm just like, this is not acceptable.
Katie Nolan
Yeah, well, you're gorgeous and beautiful and you shine in everything you do. And I'm so happy to have seen you. And hopefully I'll see you when you're out here. Give us the info again. So everybody knows where to go.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Campden Valley, July 22 at Kirk beach in Montauk. Noon till we finish. Hero beach is our staging area. Hero Beach Hotel, which is a beautiful resort in Montauk. We have eight of the best pros. Six on six, free to the public.
Katie Nolan
Nice.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Go to my stories at Carrialee Walsh and you'll be able to find a link to rsvp. Katie, I'd love to have you. If you want to do the ceremonial first serve like you're in.
Katie Nolan
Or if.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
You just want to ref, or if you just want to talk trash to people. Like, whatever you want to do, you can help play by play. Whatever you want to do, we'll make it happen. I love you, Katie. Katie, you're so good at your job, and I'm so grateful for you and what you do to women's sports, for women's sports and all of sports. So keep it up, kid. I'm a fan.
Katie Nolan
I adore you. I adore you. Thank you so much for coming and doing our little podcast and hopefully I'll see you next week.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Okay, well, let's not. Let's not have 10 years in between because I'll be insulted again. But I'm around if I could ever serve and support until then. God bless you.
Katie Nolan
You're the best.
Kerry Walsh Jennings
Thanks. Have a beautiful.
Katie Nolan
Chris, what if we wanted to watch some sports this week? What do you think that we could do about that?
Brady
We're going to run through these real quick. The first one, women's Euros quarterfinals at the moment, Norway vs. Italy, Wednesday, 3pm Eastern on Fox Sports. The other matchups in the quarters include Sweden versus England, Spain versus Switzerland, and France versus Germany. But we are Team Italy here, so that's why I pointed out the Norway versus Italy matchup.
Katie Nolan
Nice. 3 o'. Clock. We can do that. Go ahead, Chris. What else?
Brady
Next 1. The 2025 Esports World cup is on at the moment. In this event, they have a bunch of different games, and within each game you have a certain prize pool. Right. So the game that I will be highlighting today is the Dota 2 tournament. Because the grand final for the Dota 2 tournament is Saturday at 9:30am Eastern. There is a $3 million prize pool which is tied the most for any game in the World Cup. And the good thing about this tournament is you can watch any of these for free on their website. So you just go to esportsworldcup.com any game that's on at any time, it's playing for a live stream right there, which is fantastic. So other games featured in the World cup include League of Legends, Call of Duty, Black Ops 6, Chess Chess, Tekken 8, Rocket League Chess, Rocket League, Street Fighter 6, Counter Strike 2.
Katie Nolan
Huh.
Brady
If you're a gamer, this is. This is the pinnacle.
Isabella
Okay, cool.
Katie Nolan
This is what I'm working towards. I guess there's chess. Yes, chess.
Chris
Yeah, chess. Seems like.
Isabella
Is that guy Magnus gonna be playing? You know what I'm talking about?
Katie Nolan
Yeah, yeah, I do. I don't know.
Isabella
I hope he is.
Katie Nolan
I don't know how the. I don't know a lot about how esports, like, works.
Isabella
Wow, you call yourself like a sports podcast.
Katie Nolan
You know, I don't know if there's like, divisions or what. I don't know how any of that works. I can look into it, but I'll certainly be watching Rocket League and I'll be. It'll. It's gonna be pretty reflective of my play style, I believe. I think I'll see a lot of myself in these young bucks. What else, Chris?
Brady
The last One is tbt, the basketball tournament. This is my favorite summer basketball tournament over the NBA Summer league. Most people gravitate towards the NBA summer league. I love TBT because you see a lot of teams that are combined of or made up of players from like a specific school. So you have like a Kentucky alumni team, you have like an Auburn alumni team, West Virginia, Indiana, Butler, Yukon. You get these guys that you haven't seen play college for a few years, come in and compete for this prize pool. They have this Elam ending, which is essentially once you get to a certain time within the game, whoever's leading whatever that leading score is. So say the leading. Say that score is 74 to 71. Once there's five minutes to go in the game, the score shuts off and it's just the first to. I think it's like the winning score plus seven. So it eliminates that, you know, really long slog of those last five minutes of basketball. It's a lot. It's a lot of fun. Really interesting way of playing basketball. TBT is fantastic. The game that I want to point out Saturday at 12:30pm Eastern on Fox is the Ville, which is Louisville alum, against the team called Boston vs Cancer. So it's a team that's made up of players, predominantly from the Boston area, who has made sort of their mission throughout the tournament to raise money and raise awareness for cancer prevention and all that sort of stuff. So that's going to be a really fun game. And make sure you check out TBT because TBT is a whole lot of fun.
Isabella
Don't get it confused with Throwback Thursday.
Katie Nolan
Right, of course. And be very easy to do so based off of the description given. A little confusing to name your team with the word verse is in it. A little confusing. But I love the vision, I extra love the message and I triple love the city. So it's the Ville versus Boston versus Cancer.
Brady
Yes.
Katie Nolan
It's not the Vil versus Boston and they're both versus Cancer. Although I'm sure that the Ville is also against Cancer as an idea, I would say so. So it. But that sounds Fun. Saturday at 12:30 on Foss. On Foss, yeah.
Brady
Right after the Dota 2 tournament, which I assume would be done. If it starts at 9:30.
Katie Nolan
How long does it play? Dota 2 goes a long time. Okay, that's the podcast, you guys. We did it. We did a whole podcast and it's going to be a radio show. Don't forget to reiterate that link so that you guys know where to go. That's the wrong page. SiriusXM.com CasualSlive for your free 3 month trial, we're gonna be on Mad Dog sports radio, channel 82 next week. All every day, Monday through Friday from noon to 1 on channel 82 on Sirius. And you're gonna call 888-Maddog-6 or 888-623-3646. I'm just saying all this stuff now because I don't want to hear it that you guys didn't know. Okay? I need. We need you. We're calling on you. Isabella needs you.
Isabella
Exactly.
Katie Nolan
And she'll be really sad if you don't show up.
Isabella
I'm gonna cry.
Katie Nolan
Oh my God, please don't. Not in front of me.
Isabella
I'm gonna go into the discord and I'm gonna be like, what the heck, guys?
Katie Nolan
I thought we were friends.
Isabella
Didn't even show up.
Katie Nolan
The email is casuals with katynol gmail.com but that's not really important. I feel like we should focus on the other stuff. Our voicemail. 646-810043. Thank you so much for listening. We love you, we mean it and we will see you on Thursday. Bye.
Casuals with Katie Nolan – Episode Summary: Wimbledon, HR Derby, and Billionaires Ruining Sports | Plus Kerri Walsh-Jennings
Release Date: July 15, 2025
In this episode of Casuals with Katie Nolan, host Katie Nolan, alongside regulars Brady and Isabella, dives into a dynamic blend of sports discussions, recent events, and a special appearance by Olympic beach volleyball legend, Kerri Walsh-Jennings.
Katie Nolan shares exciting news about an upcoming live call-in show on SiriusXM's Mad Dog Sports Radio (Channel 82). She enthusiastically invites listeners to participate by signing up for a three-month free trial at SiriusXM.com/CasualsLive and dialing 888-623-3646 to join the broadcast. This initiative aims to engage the podcast community directly on the radio platform, fostering real-time interaction and discussions.
The episode kicks off with a recap of Wimbledon 2025, highlighting significant achievements and memorable matches.
Yannick Sinner made history by defeating two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz to win his first Wimbledon title. This victory marks Sinner as the first northern Italian man to clinch the prestigious tournament.
Katie Nolan (13:01): "First Italian man to win Wimbledon. That I didn't know."
On the women's side, Iga Witek delivered a dominant performance, securing a double bagel victory—winning both sets 6-0 against American Amanda Anisimova. This rare feat at Wimbledon underscores Witek's exceptional skill and dominance on the court.
Isabella (13:48): "And that right there is called getting a bagel."
Katie and the team express their admiration for both champions, emphasizing the rarity and significance of their achievements.
A major segment of the episode delves into the rise of AI-generated influencers in the sports and entertainment industries.
Mia Zalu and Tana Lopez are spotlighted as two prominent AI influencers.
Katie Nolan (17:43): "AI generated influencer Mia Zalu attended 2025 Wimbledon. No, she didn't. She can't attend anything."
The conversation raises critical concerns about authenticity, ethical implications, and the potential manipulation of audiences through non-existent personas designed to influence purchasing and perceptions.
The team debates the impact of AI influencers, questioning their legality and the governance surrounding their creation and operations.
Katie Nolan (20:01): "I don't know who's governing anything."
Brady and Isabella contribute by highlighting the deceptive nature of these AI entities and their ability to mimic real individuals convincingly, potentially misleading fans and consumers.
A provocative segment discusses how billionaires are increasingly interfering in traditional sports, often leading to controversial outcomes.
Bill Ackman, a billionaire hedge fund manager, made his pro tennis debut at age 59 alongside Jack Sock, a three-time Grand Slam doubles champion. Their early exit from the Hall of Fame Open sparked criticism and debate.
Katie Nolan (23:40): "They lost in the men's doubles at the hall of Fame Open... He was a hedge fund manager making his pro debut and he lost."
Mark Cuban's remarks on the NBA’s involvement in the Olympics stirred further controversy. He argued that the NBA should focus on its own league rather than allowing players to participate in Olympic events, claiming it doesn't benefit the league.
Katie Nolan (27:38): "He's a bad take... I completely disagree."
The episode also covers Chelsea FC's victory in the 2025 Club World Cup, which became a spectacle when former U.S. President Donald Trump made controversial appearances during the post-match ceremonies, leading to widespread mockery and confusion.
Katie Nolan (33:44): "Trump remained standing there despite being waved off to leave. Chelsea has since Photoshopped him out of their official championship."
Aaron Rodgers' behavior during the American Century Championship—a celebrity golf tournament—was critiqued, highlighting instances of poor sportsmanship and unprofessional conduct on the golf course.
Katie Nolan (40:33): "He just starts throwing money at the net. Like, what is this?"
The discussion underscores the tension between wealth, celebrity influence, and the integrity of sports, questioning whether the influx of billionaires is detracting from the essence of athletic competition.
The podcast transitions to baseball, focusing on the recent MLB Home Run Derby and the upcoming MLB Draft.
Cal Raleigh emerged as the standout performer, winning the Derby by hitting numerous home runs, tying the record alongside legendary players like Ken Griffey Jr. and Bryce Harper.
Katie Nolan (56:00): "He was the first catcher to win."
The episode humorously critiques the judging criteria used to determine closeness in home run distances, suggesting reforms like a "swing-off" to enhance fairness.
Katie Nolan (60:19): "But that seems a little Close."
Brady shares excitement about the Greensboro Grasshoppers achieving a remarkable feat by pitching a combined perfect game twice within nine days, a testament to team synergy and skill.
Brady (71:57): "They pitched their second combined perfect game in the span of nine days."
The upcoming MLB Draft is briefly touched upon, highlighting the selection of Mitch Voight by the New York Mets, praising his collegiate performance.
Katie Nolan (65:49): "The Mets have drafted Mitch Voight, who hit .346 in his junior season."
Expanding beyond traditional sports, the podcast explores the booming Esports World Cup and the innovative TBT Basketball Tournament.
Brady highlights the Dota 2 tournament, noting its substantial $3 million prize pool and the event's accessibility through free live streams.
Katie Nolan (94:05): "If you're a gamer, this is the pinnacle."
The TBT Basketball Tournament is praised for its unique format, where teams composed of alumni from specific schools compete in shorter, high-intensity games.
Brady (97:31): "It's a lot of fun... and raising awareness for cancer prevention."
The highlight of the episode is the engaging interview with Kerri Walsh-Jennings, a celebrated beach volleyball Olympian.
Kerri discusses her new initiative, Hampton Volley, a pro-am beach volleyball event scheduled for July 22nd in Montauk. The event is designed as a charity fundraiser, supporting the Hampton Lifeguard Association and her P1440 Foundation.
Kerri Walsh-Jennings (75:07): "We need a beach pro tour... that's why I'm here."

Kerri Walsh-Jennings (82:12): "There's so much opportunity in our game and on the beach side."
