Kate
Hey guys. Welcome back.
Ty
Progress.
Kate
Welcome back to another episode of Kate and Ty. Break it down. I hope that everybody is feeling well.
Ty
And doing well because we just.
Kate
I feel like we can't catch a damn break. You know how many times we have talked about sickness?
Ty
Guys, we.
Kate
In the last few weeks, we all.
Ty
Got, we just got. The whole house got.
Kate
Well, Christmas sucked.
Ty
It sucked.
Kate
It really sucked this year.
Ty
And it's. It was nothing to do with like anything but just being. Everyone was sick. Everybody like our. Our youngest didn't even open her presents on this half of them. She didn't have them. She just left them for the next day because we were just so deathly.
Kate
Ill. Actually, I think it was like two days later she opened them. Like they sat there for two days.
Ty
Influenza A is just.
Kate
Yeah. And it was like. And before that, like we just. This, this year of sickness in our house has been pure hell. But then it's like, you know, we're like big time Christmas people here. We get so excited for Christmas. We love it. We go all out. We. It's one of our favorite holidays.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
And I always look forward to Christmas every year. And this year just literally sucked. Like there was a moment in time where I was like super sick and the kids are asking me for eggs and I'm like, okay, I'm gonna make eggs. And I go to put the pepper on the eggs and. And I twist the wrong top and black peppercorns go flying all over the kitchen. And my mother in law comes upstairs and I'm like sobbing because I'm sick trying to make eggs. And now I'm cleaning up peppercorns and I'm using this stupid wet vacuum thing that I fucking hate. I hate it.
Ty
You're so excited to buy that fucking thing.
Kate
And it's the worst one I've ever bought in. And so I'm trying to use that to suck it up and it hits my, my like foot mat in front of the stove and the top flies off and I was just, literally I was crying and my mother in law's like, Kim, she's like, are you okay? And I'm like, no. And I don't even know why I'm crying and but. Oh, it was hell. It started off, it started off like a couple days before Christmas. Veda, she was having like, she was.
Ty
Had something going on and then I felt like we were good for like two days.
Kate
Yeah. She had the super high fever though. I took her to urgent care.
Ty
104.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Freaked me out actually. You were sleeping Whatever. But I had her in the morning, and she was at, like, 100. She was at, like, 104. No, 103 or something like that. So I gave her title right in the morning. I was like, all right, I'm gonna give it a half hour to kick in. Whatever. And she's literally sleeping. And this kid doesn't just sleep. Like, she's like. She's hyper like me, and so there's no way she's napping. And so she's sleeping on the chair. And I'm like, all right, it's been like 40 minutes since giving her time on. I'm gonna check her again. And she was just. Her face was color red. I was like, great.
Kate
And she was sleeping.
Ty
Yeah, Yeah. I took the blankets off her, and I'm like, all right, well, it's been 40 minutes since. Give her Tylenol. So I'm gonna take her temperature again. In my head, it's assuming it's going to be lower because tylenol. No, dude, 102 or 103. Like 104. And so I was like.
Kate
And your mom was like, I had.
Ty
To get her the bath, and so I. I had to do the lukewarm bath. And she was. I felt so bad for her because, you know when you're sick and you're getting chills and you're shivering and then, like, the water and I. So I just literally just kept. I sat there with a cup. I just kept dumping it over because, you know, like, yeah, you want. It needs to keep hitting your body, or else the moment it stops, your body, you're freaking out. So, yeah, I had her in the bath, and that took it down to, like, 101 and got her out. And that was the beginning of.
Kate
Yeah, but then you gave her Motrin after that.
Ty
I gave her Motrin and then I.
Kate
It was. She out of the bath, and it was like 102 again. And so then. So she had Tylenol ammo training in her system. Yeah. And. And then I took her temperature like a half hour after that, and it was back up to 103 again.
Ty
And I'm like, bath and Motrin and Tylenol. Yeah, I was like, no, dude.
Kate
And so then that's when I was like, all right, I'm taking her somewhere because something's going on, especially if she have Motrin and Tylenol in your system, and it keeps rising. And then, of course, we get to urgent care, and then she's just like, start. She's just like, talking up a storm. And. And I'm like, wow. Of course, as soon as we get.
Ty
I'll be wrong on how long it takes Tylenol motion to kick in. I thought it was like, a half hour. They say wait like a half hour.
Kate
I. I think. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe it's an hour.
Ty
It's an hour.
Kate
I don't know.
Ty
Maybe I should have. I don't know.
Kate
But I don't care. I was like, just with it. You have two different types of medicine in your system, and it's still rising. Like, that scares me out. Yeah. And so took her there, and then they tested her. They were like, you wanted us to test her for. And I was like, test her for everything. I don't care what it is, you know? So they test her for Covid and influenza, and the influenza A came back positive. And I was like. I didn't think too much of it. I was like, oh, okay, great. You know. Right. You know, and so even with her. So at that point, it was like, you know, and her fever kept getting so high, so it was like, all right. With Veda, it was like, I'm gonna wake up every four hours in the middle of night, make sure I'm giving her, you know, doses. Because if you don't, then it's like she gets up in the morning, and then it's at 103, and she's miserable. I'd rather just keep it in her system.
Ty
So waking up an alarm clock in the middle of the night to give kids medicine.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
While you're sick.
Kate
Yeah, dude. Well, well, well. Yeah, because it was, like, after Veda, then a couple days, we were good. And then it hit us, every single one of us, like, dominoes.
Ty
Yep. You got. You had it really bad. I was like, okay. The next day. The first day you had it bad. I was like, I feel normal. I'm like, all right. And I swear, usually, like, the house will get sick, and I will not get sick.
Kate
Same. So you and Nova.
Ty
Yeah, me and Nova. Like, I don't know. Our immune system's different, but. So I'm like, all right, I'm not gonna get it. So I'm good. You know, we got one parent down. At least we have one that's functioning. Literally. It was the day after the first day you had it that I felt normal. And I was like. I.
Kate
The.
Ty
The night before, I was like, all right, I'm starting to feel a little weird. And I know, guys. I know. I don't even need temperature if I squeeze my eyes really hard. That's how I know I'm sick. Because I can feel the heat. It's like hotness in my eyelids.
Kate
I'm like, weird.
Ty
Yeah. If you. I know. Isn't that weird? So I'll be like, am I. I have a temperature? And I'll squeeze my eyelids, too. You're like, yep, yep, I sure do. And. And then the next morning, holy Christmas comes. I am.
Kate
And everybody's sick on Christmas. Every single one of us. Except for Nova and Ties.
Ty
Christmas was day three for you, wasn't it?
Kate
I think. And that's before I had the diagnosis.
Ty
That was neat. Okay. Christmas was my first day of being just the night before. And then think about Christmas Eve. You're getting everything ready for Christmas. You know what I'm saying?
Kate
I was miserable.
Ty
If you have kids listening to this, we're telling you to stop. Pause it. Don't say nothing. Turn it down, whatever. Tell the kids to put their headphones on. But. So Christmas Eve comes around. BK are deathly sick.
Kate
Putting presents literally.
Ty
Like, we're like zombies trying to, like, make the tree look normal.
Kate
And at first, and also before we even did the present snow was like, mom, I thought we were going to bake cookies for Santa.
Ty
No.
Kate
And then I felt bad because I was like, I was just going to put them out some, you know, those chewy Chips Ahoy and some milk and call it a damn day. And then I felt bad and I was like, whatever. So I had a. I had a. Like a packet of breakaway ones. And so I was like, here, noble, let's just make these. And she was happy about it, so that made me feel good. I was like, whatever. So we put some cookies and milk out for Santa Claus, even though, literally we're dragging ass, like, feel like straight death.
Ty
It was really bad. I hadn't been that sick in I. Probably a decade. Yeah, like, it was. I had a headache. And then the baby's sick, and she doesn't even know. I could call the baby. She's four. But whatever. She doesn't know what the hell is going on. She wants to be held.
Kate
And we're all just sick, dude. And you know, it's bad because, like, Veda and Raya, there are not, like, you know, people have kids that, like, fall asleep in cars or just like, well, chill and lay around those two. No, no. And they were, like, periodically falling asleep on the couches and just like, it was just not good. But when I tell you this was the worst illness I have had, like, it was worse than Kovits that I've had.
Ty
I, I. You were. Yeah. I mean, you were out for a week.
Kate
Yeah. And then it was like, Christ day, actually, the evening time. I just, like, I ended up going to the ER because of course I missed the urgent care by like a freaking hour. Went there, got all that stuff, all my tests done, stuff like that. They gave me some meds like that on Christmas day. And then the day after that, I woke up too, and just still not feeling right, like. And so I ended up going to urgent care again. And the, the lady there was like, your lungs sound, like, complete. Like, complete. She's like, you have pneumonia. She gave me, like, a Z pack. Yeah, a whole bunch of stuff, like a, A Z pack. Like a steroid pack and like, antibiotics and these cough pills and stuff. I came home, I probably, like, days just ended up blurring together. I think I probably slept for like four days straight.
Ty
You did.
Kate
Like, literally, that's all I could do.
Ty
And then you guys, you have to imagine this. This is, this is like day after Christmas. Two days after Christmas. The kids gifts are still everywhere. The house, the house is insane. The, the wrapping paper, like, I just got the wrap paper cleaned up. I. Dude. And I'm sick. While Kate's sleeping, I'm sick, trying to, like, dude, clean. It was just.
Kate
Dude, thank God your mom was here, though. Your mom did so much.
Ty
My mom? Even Christmas day, the Christmas ham, no one ate it.
Kate
No, I know. Even Christmas, like, day. She was a hu. She was the one that was like, I'll open the pride. Like, oh, you want this open? You know, like, taking all the kids toys out, cleaning up the paper on the couch. Yeah, I was like, crawling on the floor, picking up, like, literally. I don't think your mom knows how much of a saving grace it was that she was here.
Ty
Yes.
Kate
Because she was not sick. So she was able to, like, cook and clean and pick up the, like.
Ty
It'S just that, you know how it is, though. People don't clean. Like, how you clean. Does that make sense? I feel bad. Like, stop touching mom. I'm. And she's a Tyler, go to bed. I said, no, I'm over here. Like, I don't know what's wrong with me. I feel bad that my mom's here. I don't want her doing everything. So I'm like, I'm like, dude, I'm walking. I'm a walking, throbbing eyeball headache. In, in, in coughing. And, you know, you bend over to go, oh. And it's just. And it's just a dude. And so I'm trying to, like, fight it, and my mom is like, tyler, go to bed. I said no. I'm like.
Kate
Even though he's, like, falling asleep on.
Ty
The couch, I'm like, passing out on the couch randomly for like an hour at a time. And I don't know, man. It was just. It was so bad.
Kate
Yeah. Christmas really sucked. And I hate that. I hate. I hate that it sucked. And we didn't even.
Ty
All of us were sick, so besides.
Kate
Nova and your mom, you know, we didn't. We didn't even eat a Christmas dinner. Still haven't.
Ty
No.
Kate
So it made the ham. I remember, like, coming downstairs, like, night time, and I was on the stove, and I'm just like, peeling it apart and eating it. Like, four pieces of it I couldn't really eat.
Ty
I had soup. I. Horrible Panera soup. I don't know if anyone eats chicken noodle from Panera, but what the. Man, it was like the whitest person made that soup. There's no seasoning. There's nothing. There's no salt. There's no pepper. There's no paprika. There's no. Nothing in this soup. It is. It is water. It is chicken. Boiled chicken, water and noodles, dude. So Panera, get your together, bro. Your chicken noodle sucks. And how could it suck so bad with broccoli cheddar so good.
Kate
Yeah, the cheddar broccoli is good. Yeah.
Ty
You need to get your. Dude, who did this? Oh, my God. This is the worst chicken noodle soup I've ever had. But anyway.
Kate
Yeah, so literally. Yeah, so our kids were. They were. They were literally sick. Like, the two weeks of Christmas vacation. Yeah. And they would literally just got better to go back to school today. I still have a cough, though.
Ty
Yeah, I do, too. Like, it's just, like, random, but.
Kate
But I feel like we can't catch a break this year. Like, and so then. Then literally, like, after we all get it. I get it. You know, whatever.
Ty
But listen, I was reading this. This Influenza A whatever was, like, really bad that she.
Kate
Oh, yeah. So many people. Like.
Ty
Yeah, it's. No, some kids die.
Kate
I know.
Ty
I was.
Kate
Well, a lot of people die from the flu, actually.
Ty
I know. I didn't realize that.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
But no, it, like, wreaked havoc across multiple different states. It was literally everywhere. And so what? I was like, sitting there and I'm like, that's it. I'm like, every person is getting the flu shot next year. Like, I'm not dealing with this. Yeah, it was bad, you know, even though you can still get the flu, but I know it'll lessen the days you're sick and, like, the symptoms and. Because this, dude, it was worse than any covet I have ever experienced.
Ty
You've had Covid, what, twice?
Kate
Yes.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
Yeah. Two times. And it was worse than.
Ty
And I heard a lot of people saying that. That it was worse than Covid.
Kate
Yeah. And then it gave me pneumonia. I've never had pneumonia. Not even, like, never ever in my whole life. I've never experienced pneumonia. But it was not good. Like, I couldn't, like, even when I was feeling better, I would, like, go downstairs and try to, like, clean, because the house was just crazy. It hasn't been mopped, nothing. So I'm just, like, trying to clean. And then I noticed, like, my grandma's, like, don't overdo it, even when you're feeling good. I could hear her voice. Yeah.
Ty
You know, and it's true.
Kate
It was true. Because all of a sudden, I'm like, I feel like I can't wind it.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
I can't breathe.
Adam Rippon
And then.
Ty
You're tired. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kate
You know, and Aaron, our friend Aaron, she was like, put the vape down. And I did. I hid my vape in the drawers for, like, two days, three days. Because she was like. I'm telling you, she's like, that was what will kill people.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
You know? And I'm like, that's scary, right?
Ty
You were. You were hitting your vape in there in the bed, and you were coughing at the same time. And I'm like, this is stupid.
Kate
This is dumb.
Ty
Like, I'm in my head. I'm like, babe, if you're gonna do anything, I'd be like, I'm coughing. I'm like, well, then you're like.
Kate
Yes. Then I literally ended up hiding it in my drawer. I just threw it in my.
Ty
You know what's funny? When I used to smoke cigarettes, I couldn't smoke cigarettes when I was sick.
Kate
Oh, I could. I can. I could, can.
Ty
You're your mom, dude.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
I. Like, I don't know anyone, but I used to.
Kate
I had cold that. I was locked in a hotel room for seven days. Yeah. My ass was on that balcony smoking cigarettes like a chimney. Kate and Ty Break it down is brought to you by Progressive Insurance. You weren't throwing cigarettes then.
Kate
Yes, I was.
Ty
Oh, oh, whoa. You weren't vaping?
Kate
No, I was smoking. Straight six then.
Ty
Damn. God damn. Anyway, I. When I used to smoke cigarettes, I could not smoke when I was sick. So when I'm watching you hacking your pneumonia lungs.
Kate
Stupid.
Ty
Hitting a bait, I'm like, yo, this is some crazy.
Kate
You should have knocked my ass out.
Ty
It's crazy.
Kate
Yeah, I know. And then my. Then our friend wrote us and I was like, you're. I'm like, yeah, this is stupid. So I hit. Threw him in the drawers.
Ty
Listen, honestly, we don't know what the hell these vapes are gonna do, people.
Kate
No, we don't.
Ty
The first kind of guinea pig study. So I'm in the next 10 years. We'll see what happens.
Kate
But. Yeah, but. So now I'm like, you know what? Next year everybody's getting the flea shot.
Ty
I never got food shot before in my life, guys. I. But I'm going to probably do it next year.
Kate
Oh, I'm doing it that I was.
Ty
Sick for a day and a half. You were sick for multiple days? Nova was sick for a day.
Kate
Like, yeah, she got sick for like a day.
Ty
VA was sick for a couple days.
Kate
Like, no, it was like a week.
Ty
Yeah. Vade and Raya, maybe me and Nova just have a different.
Kate
Because I was steady. Even me being dead, I was still waking up in the middle of the night to make sure that the two youngest were getting meds all night. Because I'm telling you, they. If you didn't.
Ty
God, it's.
Kate
I didn't do it the one day. And then they're both waking up like crying, miserable.
Ty
Look like tomatoes.
Kate
And I'm like, I'm not doing. I would rather keep it in their systems because then they are.
Ty
You can see them like playing throughout the day. Like, okay, you could tell a little bit working. Yeah, they're not feel.
Kate
But yeah, not like their full ability, but they were still like enjoying things.
Ty
But if you're a pair, any parents listening, like, you know, dude, when one parent's sick, shitty. When two parents are sick and you.
Kate
Have kids, oh my God.
Ty
And the kids are sick at the.
Kate
Same time, it's like, oh, it's the worst what the. You just want to blow the house.
Ty
I just want to. Oh, my God. I want to check out so bad.
Kate
But that's why I. I was like, so. Just so grateful.
Ty
So anyway, Happy New Year. We're going to be off to a great new year now.
Kate
Yes.
Ty
Christmas was.
Kate
New Year's was good.
Ty
New Year's was good. It was.
Kate
We were all feeling better. It was Noah's birthday and, you know.
Ty
11 now, you know, 11 years old. 11 year old.
Kate
It's crazy. I was laying in bed last night thinking, like, oh, my God, I know. Shark Week's gonna be coming soon.
Ty
Oh, no.
Kate
For her, like, that's scary. That's crazy. I was think so. I was like, between 11 and 12. Yeah. But I'm just saying, at any time it could happen for her now, like, I was laying up, I'm like, she's 11 years old. Like, this is crazy.
Ty
This is the last thing we're ever gonna mention about that. I think. I think it's weird.
Kate
Okay.
Ty
No, I'm just saying. Remember I told you this? I was like, parents who, like. I don't know. Like, there's these influencers and people who are talking about their kids.
Kate
Oh, I would never say when she did. I don't know. But that's.
Ty
Talking about it in general right now. I don't know. It's just weird. It's weird to me. It's okay. You know what I mean?
Kate
It's just. No, it's crazy to me. Being a mom of a girl. Yeah. And being like, whoa. Like she's just getting big. Like she's 11 years old. And thankfully we were all feeling better. And so New Year's Day, we just kind of kept it very simple. Like, she woke up and me and her sisters were being all goofy and singing her birthday songs and, you know, like 50 Cent in the club. And, you know, just like, I was. I was like, hey, you gotta shake your butt for Nova's birthday. And the two little ones are like, just like doing. We were just being goofy, you know, was laughing and we sang her Happy Birthday. And that night I'll be out. Basically all we did for her birthday was like, what do you. What's your favorite meal that I make? And she's like, homemade stir fry. And so we made stir fry. We made her a cake and sang Happy Birthday.
Ty
Yep.
Kate
And then yesterday, though, we did like a. So like, her birthday present from me and Ty. I did, like, if. I don't know if people have seen the trend on tick tock and stuff. Where it's like, you have the flashcards and the kids don't know what's on them, so they have to pick between two. So we kind of did that whole experience with her yesterday.
Ty
That was cool, right? Yeah, yeah.
Kate
And so, you know, she ended up picking, like. What was the first one? Oh, it was like, $50. She ended up picking $50, five below, which is great because it was between that and Target. And I'm like, what are you gonna get? You know? But whatever. Kids love Target too. So she ended up picking up a 50 of 5 below. And then we did this, like, sushi, Chinese food place for.
Ty
She picked Panera at first. We had two choices. Panera or the Tokyo or Tokyo or whatever. And she picked Panera at first. Then she's like, oh, okay. And we're like, oh.
Kate
And she was like, what's the other one? And I showed her. And she knows Tokyo. So Nova's an expensive estate. Like, she's all about. Dude, she's about sushi, lobster, shrimp.
Ty
Shrimp. I'm like, dude, crab.
Kate
Like, she's got expensive taste. So then she saw Toki and she was like, ah, like, it's your birthday. We'll go. And so she was excited, of course. What did she get? Lobster.
Ty
Lobster and shrimp hibachi. I'm like, dude, you are expensive kid.
Kate
And sushi.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
And she had one of her girlfriends come with us. Oh, that Good luck landed on our sign.
Ty
Hey, man, get out of here.
Kate
And then, so then it was funny too, because I had, like, I had in there too. I was like, all right. Like, a pair of new shoes or some money to Hot Topic Chic offer. It picks the new shoes. And I'm like, okay, cool. We go get her these cool Nike high tops that she picked out. And then the other one, it was like a new outfit or some money. A Hot Topic because she loves the store. Hot Topic. Tell me why she ends up picking new shoes.
Ty
And I know outfit. It wasn't like, okay, I guess we're dropping a couple hundred bucks today.
Kate
More than a couple hundred dollars. Yeah. And so I think she had a really good day. I think it was fun. And I just told her, I said, you know when you have your, like, party when people come over this Saturday because we're doing that. I was like, you know that me and dad aren't getting. You get. This is our guest. Yeah, right here. You know, it's a movie.
Ty
She picked a movie.
Kate
Yeah, a movie or arcade. She ended up picking movie. And then we did ice cream after because Crumbling open on what the.
Ty
I don't. Wait, I. I'm just sure this is a real thing. Google it.
Kate
We went to Tokyo. I saw crumble. Wasn't open. I Googled it and it was like, they're closed on Sunday.
Ty
Every Sunday.
Kate
I don't know if it's every Sunday, but it must be because they weren't open on Sunday.
Ty
And I'm gonna. So the reason why. I know why Chick Fil A's doesn't open on Sunday.
Kate
Because they're Same as Hobby Lobby.
Ty
Because in Hobby Lobby. Because of the. Because. Because the holy day. But it's. Do people not know that the real Sabbath is Saturday?
Kate
Then why is everything on Sunday? Like, people go to church on Sunday.
Ty
I know.
Adam Rippon
It's.
Ty
It's. It's based. Okay, where's Monty?
Kate
Where you need her?
Ty
It's the old, like, Hebrew Bible versus the trans. It's a whole thing. Anyway, I just think it's really weird. Google it right now. Say, why is. Why did the Sabbath go from Saturday to Sunday?
Kate
Okay, yeah, let's see. Because I'm like, where's Monty when you need her? Can you call her? I know you got a phone number. See, we're still dying.
Ty
I know. See, Listen to us.
Kate
Okay. Why did the real Sabbath switch from Saturday to Sunday? Let's see what AI says. Because that takes over everything. The shift from Saturday, the traditional Sabbath to Sunday for Christian worship wasn't a single event, but a gradual evolution driven by Christ's resurrection occurring on Sunday, the first day of the week, increasingly increasing gentile converts, Anti Jewish semantic semantics. Yeah, and pagan sun worship, with Sunday becoming the Lord's day of worship by the end of the first century, solidifying through tradition and church councils, despite the New Testament command to change the Saturday Sabbath. And I guess because he was resurrected on a Sunday.
Ty
But even.
Kate
Even pagan influences.
Ty
Yeah, but, yeah, well, because Sunday is the sun.
Kate
You have the day of the sun.
Ty
Anyway, there's the whole thing. We're not gonna go into all that because Jesus Christ, people will literally murder me.
Kate
I'm just reading off Google.
Ty
But, yeah, I always thought it was interesting because then it's like, were. You know, and then.
Kate
And then I never really knew that that was the thing.
Ty
I don't know.
Kate
I guess I never thought to question it either. You know, just, church is on Sunday.
Ty
But anyway, I thought I was interested. When I'm like, oh, we don't. We don't close on Sunday. I'm like, well, original almost Saturday. But sure, whatever, man. Whatever. Whatever.
Kate
You Want to?
Ty
Whatever.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
I just thought it was weird.
Kate
Yeah. So I was like, well, you can't choose between crumble or, you know, ice cream because crumble ain't even open.
Ty
No.
Kate
So we ended up doing ice cream, but we were all stuff. It was like we ate so much Chinese food and sushi and then we went to the movies at later. Popcorn snacks. By the time we were eating ice cream, Noah's like, I regretted this.
Ty
Yeah, I know. Yeah.
Kate
And I'm like, it's. Yeah, whatever. But they had fun. She. One of her little girlfriends came with us too. And then we're gonna have like a little family, you know, family, friends get together with her on Saturday. I'm sure we'll probably have a few pre teens here and wild like it always is. Yeah. Pre per use, you know. And then. Yeah. So we don't do anything for New Year's anymore because we have a birthday.
Ty
Yeah, it's great. I love it. I love it so much. Guys. I hate New Year's. I mean, okay, I don't hate New Year's. I just. That's such a chore. I don't wanna.
Kate
Well, we're old. Well, we're older now.
Ty
I don't want to find a baby.
Kate
Very anti social.
Ty
And I don't want to do all that in. I don't want to do it. And the older I get, the less I want to do it.
Kate
I know, it's what, What? I mean, every once in a while it's nice to go out and do something.
Ty
No, I'm. I'm cool with that.
Kate
Yeah, I'm cool with it.
Ty
I'm cool with it. I just gotta prepare.
Kate
Nothing like on New Year's or anything.
Ty
No. Yes. Well, because everyone's crazy as hell on New Year's, but like, I just gotta like mentally prepare myself before doing these things.
Kate
I'll tell you what.
Ty
Charge the mental social battery. Okay. And we're going out in the wild.
Kate
Well, if One of those 90s parties come to Detroit, I'm doing that because it's like crazy. They're like, oh, it starts at like 5. You're out by like 10 or 8:30, you know, and they play all the old school music. I'm going. And also there's a, an elder emos rave going on. Like, rave going on. It's like, oh, right now it's in like Europe. It's in Europe. Like European right now. And they're trying to get permits or what is it called? Yeah, like a permit, where you like a. Whatever where you can come to the United States and do it. I want to go.
Ty
What bands, though? Good Charlotte. They play all this, like, that kind of emo or.
Kate
No, like, hold on.
Ty
What kind of emo? We talking.
Kate
Emo.
Ty
Remember back in the day? It was like. It was. You don't call us emo now. I'll tell right? This car. Yeah.
Kate
Going to an emo. So they play like this.
Ty
Oh, yeah. This is in. Okay, so it's all. But it's all the real bands or just cover bands?
Kate
No, they're. They just play the music. It's like a race.
Ty
Oh, oh, okay. All right, all right. I'm thinking like, okay, all right.
Kate
And there's somebody on here that was like, is this why I. When I dance, I'm always jumping up and down, and the people real fast, they're like, yeah, it is. That's why.
Ty
That's funny.
Kate
But they, like, mock the songs up, you know?
Ty
Oh, that's dope.
Kate
Oh, yeah.
Ty
Oh, I get it. A rave. Emo.
Kate
Yes. Emo rave. It's elder emo therapy.
Ty
Okay. That's what it's called.
Kate
Yes.
Ty
Therapy.
Kate
Yes. Somebody's on here. They're like, as an elder emo, can we start this by 2pm I need to be in bed by night. And they can't really blame you for not coming to the US But I'm bummed to be missing the vibe. And they said working on US States already. Keep an eye on my tour dates with the link in my bio. So he's like a DJ and he just, like, throws.
Ty
Yes.
Kate
I'm like, he knows what's up.
Ty
He knows what we want. He knows we're in bed by 10.
Kate
I want to go so bad.
Ty
Yeah.
Kate
And it's like. So it's 25, 26 states. Like, it's all. It's like, it's all over there. Like. Oh, he's going to Toronto, though.
Ty
That's close enough to.
Kate
Right? November 15th in Toronto. But it's like Paris, Madrid, Manchester, you know? Dude, I want to go.
Ty
Our music was so much better. Dude, you listen to this other. It's just.
Kate
That's like other things I see on Tick Tock where people. It's like, when you get in my car, don't expect to listen to new stuff, which, I mean, sometimes I do, but most of the time I'm stuck in, like, the 2000s R B.
Ty
Get out of it.
Kate
You know who else is coming to Detroit? Your niece just showed me the other day. Pretty Ricky.
Ty
No.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
No, bro, do you remember Blue Stars, dude.
Kate
And Lex was like, I wanna go so bad. I was like, I wanna. Oh, yeah, yeah. Hu thinks he's hot as whatever. The one guy that like split off. Yeah.
Ty
Oh, pler p or something. Yeah, listen, listen. Blue Stars.
Kate
Okay.
Ty
Pretty Ricky. Blue Stars, that album. Oh, if you know, you know, like yo, we. Well, I going to say it on live or whatever, but yo, that album.
Kate
That was such a good album. Pretty Ricky was just 2000s R&B era was great. Nobody can touch that at all.
Ty
Blue Stars on the album though, man.
Kate
But yeah, so it's like Bow wow, which I really care about. Bow wow. Sorry, but I don't. And like Pretty Ricky. And then it was like some other people too, but I was like, that would be fun, dude. Wouldn't that be fun? That'd be a fun concert.
Ty
Yeah. Yeah, it would be.
Kate

Ty
From the beginning and sings all his.
Kate
You know what I mean? Me and Lex, your niece were talking about that. I'm like, if he goes, me and you are going, I'm taking your ass. I love Justice Bieber, he's great. I want to know if he's really.
Ty
In that zone, right?
Adam Rippon
I don't know.
Kate
I'm kind of secretly praying for it though.
Ty
I'm like, come on, he's got that kid now. And you know, I don't know.
Kate
I'm just some secretly, secretly praying for it. I think it'd be great. But I do wanna. So I'm gonna keep an eye on this guy's tick tock page because if he comes to the United States and does the Elder Emo tour, I'm going, dope, dope. I don't care when it is any.
Ty
We'Re in bed by or was it late?
Kate
I don't even care. That would be such a good lie.
Ty
No, the other one you're talking about though, the one that', Listen, we're done by nine.
Kate
Yeah, that is like a real thing.
Ty
Can every concert be like that? I think I go to a lot more concerts if they're like, listen, we're shutting down by 9:30.
Kate
Old as, dude. Old as.
Ty
I know, but it's all right. I'm done with it. I'm done pretending that I'm not old and I'm done pretending that, you know, I gotta be cool in.
Kate
No, I just think. I think the autism diagnosis really makes sense. Sense like doing, you know, what was.
Ty
The other thing you're like, I don't even know.
Kate
Because we watch. We were watching the show and like the intro and outro to words, he's like, what's that noise? Why do they do that noise? Every time they're nature in the outro to the words, they do this noise. It's like a.
Ty
No, you guys don't understand. If you watch it was a show alone. Every time that a word comes in the bottom of the screen talking about, you know, whatever it is, whatever it is, it goes. And then when it goes away, it goes. And it is the most dramatic, obnoxious thing in the world, dude. And I can't normal people stop it.
Kate
People that aren't on the spectrum. I feel like. Don't answer. Don't recognize.
Ty
They might not, but whatever, dude.
Kate
And so I got up to go pee, and I'm like, yeah. I'm like, you're autistic. AF for sure. I'm like, no. Nor. I'm like, you know, no. Normally person, like, that's not on the spectrum. Or does that doesn't. Because then we're laying in bed, and every time it would happen right after, he'd be like, oh, because it was so weird. And then it would go away and make the noise, and he would do it, and I look at him like, would you stop?
Ty
Oh, my God. Because it literally just drives me nuts, dude. And then the other one was this guy's wheezing with his nose whistle. And I tell you something now I can't stand it when there's a video going. All you hear is this nose whistle in between serious conversations. Yeah, dude. Oh, my God.
Kate
No, but there's something like, wow. Yeah. So going back to, like, you're definitely autistic. Like, that makes sense. It's because, like, I feel like now it makes sense. Like when he, like when Tyler doesn't want to go to, like, do social.
Ty
Things or it's like, I like to do it. I just kind of have a lot of preparation.
Kate
Yeah. But I feel like it definitely. It's gotten worse as you've gotten older.
Ty
Done trying to pretend anymore. I'm done. I don't need to pretend anymore. Okay. I don't like this situation. I don't want to be around these certain people. I don't want to have to smile and pretend that I'm having a good time when really I'd rather be home by myself in bed eating snaps. I don't even bed reading or anything.
Kate
Just. Just.
Ty
Just solitude and predictability. Predictability. People around me, I know you're gonna be here. And then, honestly, being on TV doesn't help.
Kate
I really feel, you know, people are just like, they know us. They want pictures.
Ty
When you walk into a room and you're like. I think people with normal, like, social anxiety, they'd be like, oh, God, everyone's looking at me. And even though they're really not. No, for us, they really are. I hear, like, pictures taken and people staring, and I'm just like, dude. And then I sense it. I'm always like, we're about to. Someone's coming.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
And all of a sudden, dude, I swear, it's like their energies, I feel, are coming in well.
Kate
And once it's happened for so many years, you do. You do know.
Ty
God, you Just know. And I don't know, man. You think it's gotten worse? Have we gotten older?
Kate
The anti.
Ty
I don't think it's gotten worse. I think I've just gotten more honest and unapologetic.
Kate
That makes sense.
Ty
But I do it. I buck up and I.
Kate
No, that. That. Yeah. I think you've become. Yeah. More verbal, probably about it. Yeah.
Ty
I'm just more like. I don't.
Kate
Like you said, you're done with. You're done fake. You're masking or feeling. You know what I mean? I get that.
Ty
It's funny because, like, it makes so much sense of why I have, like, a very low limit. Like, I. Like, I. I can do it and then. But once the battery's out.
Kate
Yeah, you're done.
Ty
Yeah. And that's why always Irish goodbye. I love an Irish exit.
Kate
Yep.
Ty
We're partying. The moment everyone's eyes are somewhere else.
Kate
I'm like, he's gone.
Ty
I'm. I'm out. I'm. I'm out. And I've been planning my exit for a while.
Kate
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's been even certain events we go to, like, family events. I mean, we have done some Irish goodbyes.
Ty
Oh, I love Irish goods. Goodbyes.
Kate
No.
Ty
No big exit. You don't know. I'm leaving. It's great.
Kate
Yeah. Until you're just gone. And they're like, hey, where'd Kate from?
Ty
Text message. What happened? I'm out.
Kate
I left.
Ty
I mean, it's clear as day. I'm out. I'm leaving.
Kate
Horrible.
Ty
You didn't say goodbye. I'm saying goodbye now.
Kate
I know.
Ty
Through a text message. Goodbye. So it's fine. Does anyone relate to this? I feel like sometimes I feel like I'm a psych.
Kate
Excuse me.
Ty
There's the influenza.
Kate
Yeah. You can't even.
Ty
God damn it. This is stupid.
Kate
Can't laugh because the shit's gonna attack us, you know? Seriously.
Ty
But, yeah, there are some things in TV shows that just really bother me, and once I. Once I recognize it, I can't unrecognize it.
Kate
No, you've ruined things straight up. Like, it's not just shows or movies. Like, it's like, songs, too.
Ty
Songs. Music. Guys, it could be a great song. And if there's. God, if there's one little syllable or something or.
Kate
No, like, there's an old school. Like, it's probably. I think it's like JLO and Ja Rule song.
Ty
No, can't do it.
Kate
He ruined it for me.
Ty
No, there's some I love Ja Rule, dude. I really think he were missing that kind of vibe in a lot of songs. But there are certain songs that he does where it's just too much of the. It's too much of the. You know what I mean?
Kate
No, but there is one song he's like. You ever noticed that? Like, he's like. You know, he's just in the background, like, yeah, all right. Yeah, yeah. You know. And I'm like, no, I haven't. And then he's like. I said, just like when we're watching the show, if I play that song, he's like, ja Rule, say something until you'll hear Ty in the corner. Yeah, right after. And I'm like, stop it.
Ty
And then you go, I. Now I notice it.
Kate
Yeah, now I notice it. And now I can't unsee it. And now I can't watch it. That's like. You were the one that told me about Ed. Edd and Eddie.
Ty
Couldn't watch as a kid how you're like, this line, shake.
Kate
Yeah, that's what you said, and I never noticed it. And then after you said it and then I saw it, I was like, oh, my God.
Ty
It's my. When I was a kid, my eyes could not handle the twitching lines.
Kate
I never liked that show anyways. But. And then when you said that, though, I was like, oh, my God. And I saw it. I was like, oh, my God, I can't unsee it now.
Ty
Like, oh, yesterday we're watching Zootopia, too. I was like, oh, you know that voice.
Kate
Oh, right. Yeah.
Ty
It's like, oh, that's the voice from she Played the Mama.
Kate
Yeah, voices. And then also he'll, like, hear, like, random, like, beats. He's like, hey, did you know that that is from the Sims 2 game, this pack? Or like, oh, that beat is. Or like, a new song. He's like, that's the same beat as, like, Celine Dion or, you know, somebody else. And then he'll play. And I'm like, oh, whoa. No. Like, I see where you're coming.
Ty
They just either slow it down or sped it up or whatever. Anyway, I don't know, man.
Kate
So it's like little things like that, too, which are. Which is crazy.
Ty
It's exhausting. It's exhausting in this brain. But you married me.
Kate
I did.
Ty
You married the brain?
Kate
Yeah, I did.
Ty
And the body. Yeah, that.
Kate
Sorry. I was going to say it.
Ty
Don't say it.
Kate
I know. I was. I was sorry. I'm sorry. My bad. My bad.
Ty
Your grandma listens to this true.
Kate
And it's crazy because, like, I think out of all of our kids, Vedas, the most like you.
Ty
That's why I tell. I validate her a lot.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Show that face. I'm like, that was stupid, wasn't it?
Kate
Oh, yeah.
Ty
You know what I mean? Yeah, it was dumb. That was nasty. Yeah, it was nasty. You know, I mean, I could see her and I can almost see her doing what I used to do when as a kid. But I would have these internal thoughts and I'd be like, over analyzing the thought. And then I'm looking around at other people. I'm like, they're not reacting the same way, right?
Kate
You're like, what the.
Ty
I'm so. This is a me thing. So I back up. But so when I see. When I feel like Beta's doing that, I'll like, do you think that was kind of gross? She's like, yeah, like, it was nasty. I agree.
Kate
Right.
Ty
Just because I remember being a kid, if I would have had someone look at me and I'm like, what the. I'm like, yeah, what the.
Kate
Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right. Yeah, you're right, bro. Yeah.
Ty
Yeah. So I'll do that for Beta a lot when I see her.
Kate
She's funny.
Ty
Yeah, I validating her a little bit.
Kate
Yeah, she's. I love her, she's a sweetheart. But she's also just the most.
Ty
Because I don't think people understand what it's like though, when you. I think growing up a lot. Like, you know what I mean? Like not knowing anything. Like, it. You feel like you're. Something's wrong with you. You feel like you're like, I'm different. Something's off my brain, okay? I'm not normal. So then I kept thinking in my head, I'm like. I even asked my mom multiple times when I was growing up, did you like drop me?
Kate
You asked her that?
Ty
It's multiple times. Like I remember asking when I was like 6. And she's like, no, I didn't drop you. You know what I mean? All right. And then I got older and then I'm like. And I was like, maybe 10? I'm like, oh, no, something's wrong with me.
Kate
You're like, mom, did you stop?
Ty
Are you sure you didn't get mad one time, shake me around like nothing ever happened, right? She was like, no.
Kate
I was like, all right, that's horrible.
Ty
And then that's when she told me that actually that's when she's like, well, there's One time where I got so mad and frustrated with you that I just put you in your crib and closed the door. I had to leave and cry.
Kate
Yeah, well, you're like, that wouldn't do it.
Ty
No, that didn't do it. I'm talking about my head getting smacked against the wall or something. Because something's wrong with me. Something.
Kate
Something isn't matching up here.
Ty
Something is right. I'm telling you, It's. You feel like, yeah, something's wrong with you.
Kate
That's horrible. I can't believe you really asked your mom that. Did you ever shake me?
Ty
I mean, like, it's okay. Like, I mean, I'm still alive and I'm halfway normal, but you're like.
Kate
But something isn't clicking. Something's not clicking.
Ty
So, yeah, I don't know. Late autism diagnosis is really wild, right? I feel like that's crazy.
Kate
I've never asked my mom, have you dropped my ass? Did you drop my ass when I was a baby? Because something ain't right up here.
Ty
Yeah. And she's like, no, my mom's looking to say, tyler, just keep your mouth shut.
Kate
Yeah, you can't.
Ty
And I remember being like, all right, you know? And I remember getting in my head and being like, something's wrong with me.
Kate
And you're very much last worder.
Ty
Kind of have the last so important. It's such an easy thing to do for certain people. Your mouth. And so thinking, something's wrong with me. Like, dude, why can you not shut your mouth?
Kate
Right? Just not say anything at all.
Ty
And I would try. I remember being a kid. It's like a twitch, you know? I mean, it feels like a tweak or something. I'm like, that's wrong. You know what I mean?
Kate
Like, for somebody who has, like, Tourette's, where you feel like you have to.
Ty
It's like word vomit. But it's, like, literally, like, uncontrollable. So out. Now, I remember being a kid trying. Especially if I hear someone talking about something that I know for a fact is wrong. Yeah, that is a wrong fact. You are wrong. You know what I'm saying? So I, like, listen. Then the two people especially, they start going back and forth with each other, like, validating each other's wrongs. Oh, my God. They're both wrong. You know what I mean?
Kate
It just makes me. When you said, it made me think of my grandpa, what he said on the phone the other day.
Ty
What do you say? Because he's already on the spectrum, too.
Kate
I think he is a Hundred percent grandpa, for sure.
Ty
Something going on?
Kate
Yeah, no, I was talking to my grandma about something and he's very random, you know, and he was like, I didn't realize that old people have to pay for like medic, Medicare or Medicaid, whatever you get when you're older. I thought that was like free. But no, my grandma was like, no, you pay for that or whatever.
Ty
It's like, yeah, whatever. Yeah.
Kate
They were talking about the different insurances they have because like my grandpa just had a, had like a mini stroke and has to like go to these doctors appointments and stuff. And so she was saying like they have something like my grandpa's got something through the VA and then, I mean they both do actually. And then they have like Medicare, Medicaid, whatever the hell it is, and then something else. And. And I was like, oh, okay. So just talking to my grandma about that and then also my grandpa in the background, he's like, yeah, you know, he's like, that's like Obamacare. He's like, you know that, you know, it's just, that's why, you know, insurance is so expensive and insurance companies are just. Yeah, you know, and I was like that, that's crazy. I'm like sitting there thinking. I'm like, actually Grandpa, I said, do you know that people's stuff is like doubling and tripling right now because of, well, orange man in the. You know what I mean? So yeah, just maybe when you said that people talk about things that they don't.
Ty
I mean, it's fine.
Kate

Ty
It's old people.
Kate
No, I just need to stay off of Facebook.
Ty
I agree.
Kate
Because, you know what's funny is not news. Listen. And it's not accurate.
Ty
The most thing that I'm seeing the.
Kate
Most, which I am losing, it's the elderly people, though.
Ty
It's like my mom's generation, a little older. They're posting, like, AI photos of themselves, and people are responding, oh, my God, it looks so beautiful. I'm like, dude, this is clearly AI photo of my aunt on the beach with dolphins behind her, and her hair's flowing in the wind. Like, my aunt dawn looks about 30 years younger on the beach. And people are coming like, oh, my God, dawn, you look so beautiful.
Kate
And she's like, thank you. Thank you.
Ty
Artificial science.
Kate
Beachy.
Ty
Long, wavy hair.
Kate
What is.
Ty
I swear. And they're responding like, heart emote. Like, thank you so much.
Kate
I should repost. Repost one of those ones.
Ty
I had a.
Kate
You like a female and be like.
Ty
Dude, you were going crazy with it. You did five different pictures of me, curvy, looking, lumptuous.
Kate
And then the one where you're like, I look just like my cousin Brie. And I was like, nah. And then you showed me. I was like, whoa, bro.
Ty
I said, debris. She thought it was a random girl. She said, wow, that girl doesn't look like me. She said, I think something. The face. I can't really pinpoint him, but even my Christmas tree that she's decorated looks like my Christmas tree. And I wrote her back, brie, that is my face. Oh, my God.
Kate
What the.
Ty
She literally thought it was, like, some random chick that I found and was like, wow, you look like my cousin Brie. She's like, something I do with the face. So you're right. I can't really fit.
Kate
She's Aunt Don's daughter, so it makes sense.
Ty
Oh, dude. But yeah, people are. These older people are on Facebook, like, actually updating their profile picture. Some AI, 30 years younger, 80s hair, and it's a dude. It's so.
Kate
And they're. And their peers are like, yeah, you're amazing.
Ty
What's going? Well, how have you been? You look so great.
Kate
And then they're out there thinking, them.
Ty
Yeah, they're. You're thanking them. You're not even saying, like, well, this is A.I.
Kate
Right. Right. I made this picture or whatever.
Ty
No, you're taking the comment like, thank you so much.
Kate
That's funny. But I think it's just what's scary is the whole, like elderly, like, well, things sometimes when I talk.
Ty
Yeah. Spreading.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
You know what's crazy? That misinformation spreads faster than fact check research information does. Which is crazy.
Kate
It's like, it does.
Ty
And it's like, people just don't be so lazy with facts, though. You know what I'm saying? I guess what it is. You see something. I never. I have never in my life saw something and even thought about sharing it.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Probably spending 30 minutes reading probably five different articles based on the subject, whatever it is. And then I might repost it, maybe. But after that I'm usually like, whatever, I don't care. I just want to know if it was true or not.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Because I don't really care to share it or not. But like, it's weird. Like, it's so quick. The misinformation that's spreading is so much faster than actual data backed information.
Kate
It takes more effort to sit there and make sure that it's actually. That's right. My grandma knows. I told her before. And grandma, I'm saying it again. Stay off freaking Facebook.
Ty
No. Because guess what grandma did. Grandma's taking horse dewormer. Okay, everybody stop.
Kate
Stop. I know.
Ty
Where are we? No, you were like, I'm my. I'm like, oh, my God. Which is. People think, oh, misinformation is on that. No, it's a huge deal. Because people are taking horse dewormer for giant horses. Humans. Yeah.
Kate
That's crazy.
Ty
Because they believe we have parasites 24. Seven in our body.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
Oh, my God. I'm like that. Well, the morgue and I looked it up. Dude, there was.
Kate
It was like.
Ty
We. Let her talk. It's fine. Graham, I love you so much. Don't take. But stop. Don't take dewormer. Whatever. I don't care what Facebook's telling you to do or what your morgue friends telling you, but I googled it. It was the lowest percentage ever that I ever saw that where people will go to the morgue and they'll find like worms and parasites that are in the stomach or whatever the hell. I don't know. Anyway.
Kate
In people's bodies. Yeah.
Ty
Everyone just stop. Okay? Don't just take.
Kate
Well, I remember my grandma said on the phone, I said, did your doctor tell you to do that? No. No. And I'm like, where? Get this, you know, like Amazon. And I'm like, Grandma, I said to her on the phone, I said, don't take anything unless you speak to a doctor.
Ty
It's really dangerous, you guys. And, like, if you. And listen, here's the thing. If you don't trust the doctors, then stay away from them. Yeah. Then don't do them. Don't. Don't trust a doctor for nothing. You got diabetes, die. Because you can't pick and choose when you want to trust science or not.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
You can't pick and choose because science doesn't give a shit whether you believe it or not.
Kate
Yeah. It doesn't care.
Ty
So my thing is, like, you.
Kate
You.
Ty
You want to claim that you don't trust science, but then take your antidepressant. That's science. You want to claim you don't believe in science, but you're gonna take it. EpiPen for your fucking diabetes, for allergic reaction or allergic reaction. Yeah. It's like. It's like, dude, I am so lost with this whole thing. It's, like, driving me nuts.
Kate
And then I know. Going back to the flu shot, when I posted that on our fan page, I was like, everybody, flu shots for everybody. People are like, well, if you get the flu shot, you're gonna be with flute. Like, there were some. And other. They're like, that's not accurate. Here's the facts about it, like, yada, yada, yada.
Ty
Well, I think people. I think what people believe is that you don't know that the flu shot doesn't prevent the fluid, just minimizes the symptom. It's like, dude, I know, right? That you can still get the flu.
Kate
Yeah.
Ty
It minimizes the symptoms. So in. In science, it's a risk versus reward. Medical science is very, very risk versus reward. Okay? Anything can be toxic at certain levels.
Kate
Right, okay. Right.
Ty
But.
Kate
But, like, just because there's vitamins, just.
Ty
Because there's sodium phosphate in your cereal, doesn't it. It doesn't mean that you're gonna die or it's bad. Like, it's just certain things that I see. I'm like, this is insane. Because toxicity in, like, in a substance, for instance, is only. Anything can be toxic. Too much of it.
Kate
Right. Right. Or too little.
Ty
And that's why science and data has done the work for you and to figure out what's the right dosage that's safe and not safe and blah, blah, blah. And everyone's like, oh, all these things are banned over in the eu. You know how many things are in the EU that they're okay with that? We have Banned because our. We have found different data that you know, so it's like, you can't just. Anyway, I'm going to go. People are crazy. Stop, stop.
Kate
Just.
Ty
Just trust your doctors.
Kate
Well, yeah, and if you don't trust.
Ty
Doctors, then stay out of the offices. Because I have a nurse who's my cousin, who's a nurse, and she's like, dude, the most annoying thing is when these parents come to me, they're coming to me with these very severe symptoms for their. She's a pediatric nurse and they're have very severe symptoms. And they're like, you know, asking her, what are we doing? She said, well, this is what I would do. And they're. Wait a minute. That's not. You know, I learned that, you know, when you do the Google thing and she's like, listen, you either are going to listen to me because you're here, come here. Or you're going to listen to Google, right? But you can't do both, right? So that's my thing, is that you need to trust the science or stay in your little homestead farmland and take some fucking herb tea and rub some cow shit over your wound or whatever the fuck you think you got to do and eat roots and shit or go to the doctors. You can't have both. So, I mean.
Kate
And I believe in some of the. I do believe in homeopathic things to a certain extent.
Ty
Homeopathic, though, it's. It's. Women were herbalists and back in the day and they were. And they were called witches and shit. And then they. And then man put it in a pill. And now it's science, now it's medical science. So it's not a. Homeopathic stuff's great.
Kate
Yeah, it's just certain things. Yeah, certain things, dude.
Ty
But if you. I'm telling you, if you have diabetes.
Kate
And you eat insulin.
Ty
Yeah, let's go find it in a root. You can't.
Kate
Right?
Ty
So I don't want to hear the. Of half I'm half homeopathic. And then I'm. Then I'm trusting doctors when I need it, when I'm desperate. It's like you gotta pick and choose which.
Kate
Yeah, I'm not saying that, but I do. I think there are natural things that are beneficial. There are. You know, but then other things that are just like a scam or. You know what I mean?
Ty
Of course. Because all these people saying. Because like this really popular trend where they're like, this is look at your lucky charms has sodium fast fate in it now. Guess what? What sodium fast state. They run to Home Depot and they go. And they go grab a bottle of sodium phosphate and it does all these things. It's like, dude, oh my God, you know you can have too much iron.
Kate
Well, that's what I mean. Vitamins.
Ty
Vitamins are good. You can have a toxic level, guys. And you're not a fan, a scientist, so you don't know these things.
Kate
True.
Ty
I don't know. Anyway, it's just.
Kate
Dude, that needs to be a whole nother episode right there.
Ty
Yeah, I'll get on a tangent. But anyway, as you can tell. Anyway, stop being stupid.
Kate
Well, just educate yourself.
Ty
And uncertain things, ignorance. I'm gonna turn out 2025. Well, not 2026. Guys, ignorance is a choice today. So your ignorance is a choice because you can easily find information in.
Kate
Oh God, yeah.
Ty
Corroborated data that supports a real data. Not, not, not, not weird in literal seconds. Yeah, I mean, it's. So anyway, just don't be. Don't be ignorant by choice, I guess. And don't take ivermectin. Deworming.
Kate
God, Grandma.
Ty
Jesus. Dude, I was losing my mind.
Kate
I'm like, what is it? You're like, what do you. And then you're so.
Ty
Or I don't even know is. What is it? Ivermectin? Isn't it deor for horses or some kind of. Yeah, it's a picture of a horse.
Kate
Yeah, literally. Let me see.
Ty
Stop. Come on, man. Your grandma straight up.
Kate
Let me see.
Ty
Yo, this is crazy, dude. This isn't real.
Kate
I should ask her. Well, did you anything out?
Ty
It's a horse.
Kate
Let me see.
Ty
The horse is on the package.
Kate
Show it to me. Oh yeah, that's what I used to give Cali straight up. She would do a whole vial of it.
Ty
They're like, well, did you know that all these diseases are from parasites in our bodies? I'm like, oh my God. So you're so convinced you're taking horse dewormer. I'm mind blown.
Kate
That's so. Anyway, that is crazy.
Ty
And then I love that you act because you weren't like, you know, you were being nice about. You're like, well, did your doctor tell you to take Ivermectin, Right. Horsey wormer in the back of your. Like, no.
Kate
Well then, yeah, because I'm a grandpa had a stroke like a month or not, you know, not long after. And so I think my grandma was thinking like, well, did that have anything to do with it? And I'm like, what, taking horse training? Yeah. They both did.
Ty
Oh, my God. Are you kidding? I thought it was just Grandma. Oh, Grandpa took yes, too.
Kate
Yes, they both did.
Ty
Guys. Holy.
Kate
I'm.
Ty
Anyway, I can't. Society today, it's just insane. I mean, I know they call us crazy because we're millennials, whatever they want to call it, but, man, Bro. At least I congratulate myself on my fake AI picture and take a horse. Be warmer. So, I mean, dude, we are. This is crazy.
Kate
Oh, God. So funny. People are nuts. You know, it's your week to ask. Oh, to pick a question.
Ty
I'll do. I guess I'll do a three.
Kate
Okay. All right.
Ty
Oh, Jesus.
Kate
What?
Ty
How have I changed since we first met? What hasn't changed about me at all?
Kate
What hasn't changed is your. Your silliness, your heart. And you're willing to love people. Your willingness to love people. What has changed? I think we've both changed dramatically in 18 years. Yeah, we've grown. I still think you're the same person. I don't really. That's a hard one for me. I'm like, what has changed? I feel like as you grow, all sorts of things change.
Ty
That's a whole beautiful thing about life. Yeah, but constant evolution.
Kate
Yeah, but we're still the same people, I feel like, so. I don't know.
Ty
I like that. Yeah, that was good.
Kate
All right, well, bye. Oh, what a whirlwind.
Ty
Okay, guys, I know this episode is probably all over the place, so, so, so sorry.
Kate
Well, hopefully next week. We don't have these. We don't have these freaking coughs anymore. I'm sick of it. Sick of it. Sick of it, sick of it. And flu shots for all. It's gonna be like Oprah at our house. You got a flu shot, you get a flu shot, you get a flu shot.
Ty
Then there's someone in the background. No, just take Ivermectin. No, we're not. No flu shot, Grandma. Lose that.
Kate
I'm dead. Seriously? That's because of parasites. Oh, it was so funny. Well, you guys, thanks for listening to this week.
Ty

Adam Rippon
Hi, I'm Adam Rippon and this is Intrusive Thoughts, the podcast where I finally say the stuff out loud that's been living rent free in my head for years. From dumb decisions to awkward moments I I probably should have kept to myself. Nothing's off limits. Yes, I'm talking about the time I lost my phone mid flight and still haven't truly emotionally recovered from that. There might be too many sound effects. I've been told to chill. Will I Unclear, but if you've ever laid awake at night cringing at something you said five years ago, congratulations. You found your people. Intrusive Thoughts with Adam Rippon is available now wherever you get your podcasts.
Cate & Ty Break It Down
Hosts: Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra
Date: January 7, 2026 | [PodcastOne]
In this episode, "Surviving Christmas", Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra give an unfiltered account of their holiday season, which was derailed by a brutal wave of illness (Influenza A and pneumonia) in their household. They candidly discuss the challenges of parenting while sick, guilt over a subdued Christmas, funny moments despite the chaos, and their determination to get flu shots next year. The episode also covers New Year’s celebrations, Nova’s 11th birthday, late autism diagnoses, generational social media mishaps, and passionate opinions about science, medicine, and parenting.
Cate’s Christmas Meltdown (01:10):
“I’m sobbing because I’m sick trying to make eggs and now I’m cleaning up peppercorns… I hate it.”
When Sick Parenting Feels Impossible (05:05):
Ty: “Waking up an alarm clock in the middle of the night to give kids medicine—while you’re sick. Yeah, dude.”
On Christmas Traditions While Sick (06:54):
“Nova was like, ‘Mom, I thought we were going to bake cookies for Santa’... I felt bad, so we made the breakaway ones.”
On Medical Misinformation and Science (47:40):
“Don’t take dewormer… stay away from doctors if you don’t trust them. You can’t pick and choose when you want to trust science or not.”
On Autism and Social Energy (32:15):
“Just solitude and predictability. People around me, I know you’re gonna be here. And honestly, being on TV doesn’t help…”
On Generational Social Media (43:28):
“This is clearly an AI photo of my aunt on the beach with dolphins behind her… and people are commenting, ‘Oh my God, Dawn, you look so beautiful!’”
“Surviving Christmas” offers a raw, humorous, and touching look at how a close family navigates disappointment, illness, and chaos—with unvarnished honesty and laughter. Even as their plans fell apart, Cate and Ty find the humor and heart in the mess, showing gratitude for their support system and becoming ever more determined to protect their family, question misinformation, and—above all—keep it real.
