Host - Avery Woods
Hey, it's Avery. Welcome to Cheers. Hi, Kara.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Hi.
Host - Avery Woods
How are you?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm good. I'm excited to be here. I have a confession.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, I'm scared. You're okay? Tell me.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
No, it's just that it's my first podcast.
Host - Avery Woods
Really? Ever?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
See, I wish I would have known this before. I would have dressed up for you. I'm honored. Thank you so much for being here.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Of course. Yeah, thanks for having me.
Host - Avery Woods
Wow. And you're so chill.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I hope so. We'll see how it goes. Give me like, let me get comfortable in 30 minutes.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay. All right, that's. Well, okay, let's start it off easy then for those that don't know you, because I followed you on Instagram for years, years and years. How would you introduce yourself? Describe yourself to people that don't know who you are?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It's honestly my least favorite thing to do. Oh, any situation. But basically I'm. I'm a model and content creator. I grew up in Houston. Texas. I started full time, like on the modeling and fashion side of things. I started when I was 15. I'd work in Milan, Hamburg, Los Angeles, New York. Ended up moving here permanently to la and then somehow kind of wound up on the content creation side of things, like doing TikTok and Instagram. And I'd say during the pandemic that kind of took over and became more of like my full time job. So I still do modeling and stuff here and there, but now I'm primarily a content creator.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, you're probably one of the prettiest people I've ever met. And that.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's insane. But thank you.
Host - Avery Woods
No, it's true, because I will say, and I'm sure you've experienced this because you've been in the industry for so long, but it is kind of a different world we live in. When people share their lives online, then you meet them in person and they look far different. You're like, wait, because of the editing apps? Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
And I've always talked about the fact that I've never like had Face tune or edited my photos like that before. And so I've taken photos of people that will ask to be Face tuned and I'll, I'll meet people and I'm like, like my biggest fear should be like, are you Avery Woods? No.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
One of my friends always tells, tells me that she's in marketing and she's like, my worst fear is showing up and everyone being like, you look worse in person than you do online. She's like, I'd rather them be like disappointed online. But I feel and look great in person. But I mean, I'm not immune. I've definitely, I'm definitely that girl that's like give me a little, a little blur, a little judge.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, well, I was going to say you're even prettier in person, which I didn't know is possible. And I just love are you.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You're not wearing any makeup and your skin is like 100% perfect. It's like a road ad.
Host - Avery Woods
Thank you so much. I literally did my normal morning routine, which is why I'm not ready, which is drop my kids off at school. And I went to my workout and then I came straight here.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, as you should.
Host - Avery Woods
But thank you, I appreciate it.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
If I did my normal morning routine, then anyone who does know me from Instagram might not recognize me on this.
Host - Avery Woods
So actually, yeah, tell me. I'm obsessed with morning routines. So walk me through your morning routine.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I get up without an alarm every day around 7am like, my body naturally gets up at that time, and I try to lay in bed, and I kind of go through. I'm like, a big believer in manifestations and affirmations. And I go through my day in my head. Like, I do what I call segment intentions. So I, like, intend what I want to happen for the day or how I want it to go.
Host - Avery Woods
I love that.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So if I'm going on a podcast, like, I want it to go smoothly, and I want to, like, be guided to have, like, answers that are, like, true to who I am, whatever it may be, you know, or if I have, like, an interview or a meeting that day, I, like, intend kind of the day the way I want my day to go. So I kind of go through my day like that. And then I get out of bed, I go get now a decaf coffee. I have a caffeine allergy, which is so unfun.
Host - Avery Woods
How did you discover that?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I went through some health stuff last year. I kind of always would have heart palpitations and things that I would notice with my heart, like, for the past 10 years. And then last year, I started waking up in the middle of the night with my heart going, like, 160 beats per minute plus just randomly in the middle of the night.
Host - Avery Woods
Whoa.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Went to so many cardiologists. Couldn't figure out exactly what it was like. They said you could have an arrhythmia or this or that. I was wearing heart monitors and all of these things. And I started just kind of looking into it on my own and trying to see what I could do to optimize my health. Because if I'm being honest, for my whole life, I've never really focused on my health that much. I. Very much. I don't want to sound like, pick me, but, like, I've always eaten horribly, whatever I wanted, that kind of thing. Drinking five coffees a day, whatever it was was like, oh, I'm immune to caffeine, all these things. And it kind of just caught up with me, I think. So I started by cutting out, like, caffeine. I cut out sugar. I cut out carbs for three months, and slowly the episodes stopped happening. Cutting out sugar and carbs was, like, not realistic for me. Like, they're my favorite things on planet Earth, along with coffee. And so I. I brought those back in and was fine, but I've left caffeine out, and I haven't had an episode since last July. So, like, just going from caffeine to decaf, I think calmed my system enough. That it's helped a lot. So I still drink coffee multiple times a day. I'm just, like, strictly a decaf girl now. Which is kind of boring, but good
Host - Avery Woods
for you for, like, following your instincts and figuring out yourself.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, it was. It was like I. The doctors were starting to tell me they'd be like, you're probably gonna figure this out before we do. And I was like, oh, that sounds really positive. Great. But I guess I did. So I get up, have my decaf coffee, take my dogs out. I always get, like, sun in my space to wake me up first thing in my garden, and then I get on my computer, and I just immediately get on my emails and get my day going. If I'm at home all day doing meetings, like, I won't turn my camera on once. I will be in my robe until I go to bed that night. Like, I'm not a get up, get ready, get dressed person unless I have to and I'm leaving the house and I'm, like, gonna be seen somewhere.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Then it's the hair and the makeup and all that, but otherwise, like, I'm bumming it in my robe until I go to bed in the same robe.
Host - Avery Woods
That's how I feel like, if I didn't have kids, I probably would never leave my house.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, when I have kids, it's over. Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. Which is probably bad. Except I do love grounding. Like, I will say, if I'm in a really bad mental health space, my favorite thing to do is just go out in the backyard and soak in the sun for, like, 10 minutes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
100%, I'll do it. I'll just open my robe up and my neighbors can't see.
Host - Avery Woods
And I'm just like, that's how our house is super private. And I'm like, I will literally go out naked. I don't care.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, that's the best.
Host - Avery Woods
Like, just to get sun on your face or putting my feet in the sand at the beach. Like, I did that yesterday for Mother's Day, and it was so relaxing. And it's so important because it's so easy just to stay inside all day. But I mentally. It will, like, mess me up.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, yeah. I work, like, on my patios. Always I'm in my patio or in my garden. I'm like, squint. I need some kind of shade for my laptop so I can actually see what I'm doing. But I'm like, I have to be in the sun for a few hours a day, minimum.
Host - Avery Woods
They have a laptop umbrella.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'VE I've looked it up. Because you know how like photographers, when you're at photo shoots outside, they always have their little thing and I'm like, I need one of those. I just haven't actually done it. It's like added to the Amazon card on the like, Save for Later where I have like everything I've ever mentioned to anyone ever.
Host - Avery Woods
But yeah, my Save for Later I think has like over a thousand items.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
My husband's like, you go back and you're like, when did I think I needed this?
Host - Avery Woods
Sometimes I'll look and I'm like, I don't even know the context of why I added that to my car. So. Got lost in translation. My husband's like, can you clear that out? Like, what is in here? Okay, so you started modeling at 15, you said? Yeah. How did come about.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I feel like most girls that I've met in the modeling industry when I was growing up, I always would hear this story of girls getting like discovered in a cafe or they were like playing volleyball or whatever and like a scout happened to show up. And I always found it so discouraging because I grew up being like, I want to be a model. I want to be in the fashion world. Like, that was my dream. And so I was like, oh, it sucks. It feels like everybody just has to be scouted out of the blue or discovered and they like didn't even have a desire to or whatever. But I grew up wanting to. I was like 5 foot 8 at age 12, so I was super tall. I was like, I think I could do this. I never grew another inch. I'm still 5 foot 8. So it was something I, I like wanted to do and I begged my mom. I was like, let's figure this out. I grew up in Houston, Texas, so there wasn't that many opportunities there, but there was like two agencies. And the way to get into an agency then was you went to a modeling school, which sounds like a complete scam. Like, I begged my mom. She was super like feminist. She just didn't want me to be put into any bad positions or being even in like put in competitions with girls. She didn't like the idea of like pageants because she didn't want girls competing with each other and like the self esteem as exact teenager. Yeah, yeah. She didn't want me to be exploited, obviously. She was like, follow your dreams. But also like, I want to protect my daughter. I'm not quite sure about this, of course, but she was like, you know what, we'll just pay for this little modeling school. She's like, you're gonna have to pay me back. And let's see, you know, it could be fun for you to just learn how to like walk and have good posture and all of those things that I grew up obsessed with. Just beauty, fashion, runways, all of it. So we did the modeling school and I just ended up not being a scam, actually. And they sent me from the school to the agency that they were connected with. And at that point they started booking me on work, like in Houston. I was actually maybe 13 years old when I first started working in Houston. And then whenever I turned 15, they were like, okay, we want to send you to Milan. And at that point while I was in high school, during the summers, they were sending me overseas to different markets to try things out. And like, they call it building your book where you get images for your portfolio beyond what you could get. Like in Houston, Texas, which is really slim. You're not going to be shooting with the best photographers ever there.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So that's kind of how I got into the modeling world.
Host - Avery Woods
Wow. What was it like growing up in Texas?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I really liked it. Like for me it was such like a calm, grounding up being upbringing. Like we had such a big backyard on a lake, lots of animals. All the times I had turtles, hamsters, bunny rabbits, we were always rescuing dogs, rescuing cats. Like my parents have this industrial business and they have like a big warehouse shed situation and they are always finding little kittens that have been, you know, that they find in the shed or whatever and they bring them, would bring them home and we'd bottle feed them and stuff. So like I loved it so much. I still like going back home because that's just kind of my grounding place where I get back to like my roots and not caring about anything. I have no anxiety when I'm there. However, I could not live there now. I'm very la, like at this point. I'm LA through and through. I can't help it. I can't. I love my like community goods and erewhon and it's bad, right? Even have whole foods where I'm from, you know. So if they like gasp when you ask for your like almond milk and they're like almond. What kind of animal do you milk for that I'm like, no, literal. A nut. An almond. Almond milk.
Host - Avery Woods
It's so true.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
They like don't, they don't understand.
Host - Avery Woods
It's kind of scary like how quickly you adapt to LA and then you leave it. And I think the reason is because it's. Everything is so accessible.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally.
Host - Avery Woods
It's so accessible. And it's easy to have a healthier lifestyle.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
You know, truly. And be able to go to the beach and ground in nature and go for a hike.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Any of that. Yeah. Like where I'm from is very flat. Like you go to ihop, you go to Chili's, there's a few local restaurants and it's like.
Host - Avery Woods
I mean I love a good triple dipper though.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Love a triple chili. The molten lava cake fire. That was my jam. Still would be. It's just Chili's is like I don't know where the closest one is here, honestly.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. I'm in the Valley, so we have them everywhere. But like on my birthday I went to Chili's cuz my kids wanted to go and my son. Then a week before, my son and my husband went to like a monster jam thing. And so my daughter and I had a girl's day and we like went to the American Girl doll store and like went shopping and I was like, what do you want for lunch? And she was like, I want Chili's mozzarella sticks.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That is the ideal day as an American Girl doll day. I never had one of those. I wanted one.
Host - Avery Woods
I didn't either. I didn't have like, I. So I saved up my allowance and I was like eight. And that was when they had the magazines.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
And so I, I called with my mom and we ordered one. But the only like dine in American Girl doll store at that time was in New York. Yeah. And like we afford to do that.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally.
Host - Avery Woods
And so giving that opportunity to my daughter was so special. And they had like the little like, like high chair for her doll and she's like feeding her food. It was so cute.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, that makes me so. I hope whenever I have babies one day I have a daughter.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, it sounds so fun. It's so fun. And the, the girly stuff, like she's at her vanity every day putting on clear lip gloss before preschool. No, that's so cute. Now the. And I gave her like a little bit of powder blush. She'll like shop my little PR cabinets as if it's like Sephora, you know?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally.
Host - Avery Woods
And so I gave her like a really light pink like powder blush and. Okay, that's fine. With like clear lip gloss black. That's it. Yeah. You're not even fine. Yeah, yeah. And one of the moms at school was like, are you letting Stevie put blush on? Cuz my daughter asked if she could Put blush on. I was like, I am so sorry for, like, starting this.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
She's starting. They're all going to be beauty influencers now.
Host - Avery Woods
I know. I was like, I'm so sorry. So I was like, no more blush at school. You can do it on the weekend. Yeah, but it's fun. It's really fun.

Host - Avery Woods
Do you feel like your whole life you were really drawn to beauty, fashion, makeup, modeling, all of that, or do you feel like because you came from Texas, grounded on a farm, that it came later in life for you?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I kind of was always drawn to it and I don't know why, to be honest. Because it wasn't something I was surrounded by or like, I didn't have that influence of anyone in the fashion world or anyone who really cared about, like hair and makeup or glam or anything like that. So I'm not really sure where that desire came from. It just kind of hatched out of me. But I will say, whenever I was in elementary school, in my small town, randomly, there was a little girl that was an actress in my school and she would leave and go to LA every couple months to, like, film movies. And this was when we were maybe six or seven years old. Her name was sky and she was one of my best friends. And I remember thinking like, oh my gosh, what sky does is so cool. She goes to LA and she works with all these people and gets to be in movies. And I just, I really looked up to her and I thought it was so amazing that I remember that's kind of where I think that dream sprouted of, like, maybe I could do something in the industry. Cause otherwise, I don't know that that would have ever. You know, every little girl is like, I want to be a pop star or something like that. But I don't know that the dream would have really sprouted. And so I think I was like, I want to be an actress. And then I started getting tall and kind of gangly at that point, and people were like, maybe you should be a model. And I was like, that's it. That's what I want to do with my life.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It just kind of sprouted from there.
Host - Avery Woods
Are there any models throughout your life that you've looked up to or admired particularly?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally. And I've kind of stopped doing that as much because I've. It's been awesome. And I've had the opportunity to work with and meet so many, like, of my heroes now, which has been amazing. But I've also been disappointed from time to time meeting some of them. Like, I've met models that have been like, on my vision board from the time I was little, like, OG supermodels, where I was like, oh my gosh, this is my number one. I love her. I idolize her when I was younger. And then I would meet them years later and have like a disappointing experience, you know, So I totally look up to all the greats, like Cindy Crawfords, Claudia Schiffers, the 90s girls.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And now I have people that like that I know that I look up to, who I'm like, I love you and you have a great work ethic and you're a nice person. But now I don't. I don't idolize anyone based off of photos or based off the Internet anymore either.
Host - Avery Woods
I feel the same exact way. Yeah. I also think it's completely changed my mindset on social media because I've seen, I've met so many people that I've really looked up to and who are publicly worshiped.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
And I'm like, I'll meet them and be like, if people knew how you, like, treated other people or how you
Guest - Model and Content Creator
did business, how you run your day to day.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
How you talk to your assistants. Yes.
Host - Avery Woods
Or makeup artists. Sometimes like really famous makeup artists or like brand owners. I'm like, oh, like, I've heard horror stories from like their assistants that then you work with. It's just really sad.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
No, it's so sad. It's. It really, like you take off your rose colored glasses and you're like, oh, got it. I'm no longer. Yeah. I mean, there are people on the Internet that I'm sure people that me and you know that. Oh, yeah, everyone would, like, get down on their knees for these people. They would do anything. They would die for them. If they tried to get canceled, they'll have their back. But in reality, it's like everyone behind the curtains is like, wait a minute. I know this person's not that nice,
Host - Avery Woods
but what's crazy to me, too, is I'll just never understand. I don't care who you are, how successful you are, how much money you have. We're all just humans.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It's so easy to be nice.
Host - Avery Woods
It's so easy to be nice, even selfishly.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Like, I'm like, if you don't actually care about other people, isn't it just more fun for you to be nice? For me, it's selfishly. I mean, I care about other people, but it's selfishly more fun for me to go out about my day and be nicer to other people. I just have a better day. Like, yes, I reap better results in the world when I'm nice to everyone versus whenever I have an attitude or
Host - Avery Woods
it puts you in a different mood. And, like, I want to bring people down. I also feel like when I'm working or on set or doing something where there's a million people around me running their ass off, working so hard, I, like, make it apparent to be extra nice and extra thankful because I'm like, people only see the image on the screen and what's in front of the camera. But, like, you don't see the hundreds of people behind the scenes that are working so hard to bring this vision to life. And sometimes I'm always like, how is it not more known about these people not being nice? But then I'm like, oh, NDAs.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And it's just so important to make everyone feel seen. Like, I've been in rooms with models where I'm like, we had a dinner together the night before, and I call my mom, being like, guess who I'm best friends with Now I'm geeking out. You know, I'm that girl calling my mother in the bathtub afterwards, being like, we're best friends. I'm gonna see her again tomorrow. And I see her the next day, and I'm like, oh, my gosh. Hi, I'm Cara. I had dinner across from you yesterday at this charity gala or whatever it was. And they're like, wow, really? I'm like, no. Oh, my God. I called my mom. I said, we're best friends now. Yeah, take it back.
Host - Avery Woods
I'm sorry.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'M like, never mind. I'm like, I don't know where to go from here, you know?
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. And also, it's like, if you don't remember, just fake it.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's my thing.
Host - Avery Woods
Come on.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I would have been like, oh, I'm
Host - Avery Woods
so happy to see you.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
She fully remembered. She just wasn't. Wasn't having it with me. That's the thing. Yeah. Making people feel seen. Like, if I. If I don't fully remember someone and they came up to me and they're like, oh, my God, so good to see you. Like, I'm gonna give you a hug back. I'm not gonna question it. I'm like, yeah, we've met. At some point. It's easy to be nice. Yeah, I agree. It's easier. It's awkward to not be.
Host - Avery Woods
I fully agree. When did you move to LA full time?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Maybe 11 or 12 years ago. I've kind of lost track at this point, but the minute I graduated high school, like I said, I kind of tried the different markets for modeling la. I had the most success, one, as a model here and then two, I just liked the lifestyle here. Like we said, that healthy lifestyle, the sunshine, New York seemed like a very big jump from where I was from in Houston, Texas. Like, that seemed too different for me.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Like it was going to drain my energy. And I love New York for a short bit of time, but I was like, I don't think I could live there permanently. And LA seemed like a realistic place that I could live. Other than the fact that, like, it is significantly more expensive to live here than where I came from in Texas.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, it's insane.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Insane.
Host - Avery Woods
I will say, though, I feel so lucky to be able to afford to live here. And I. Yeah, I think the reason that I'm okay with the cost of living, being more is just because of the amenities and the lifestyle. 100 and like, my kids being able to play outdoors every day and having access to the beach and just the
Guest - Model and Content Creator
weather is like, I'm like, I'll pay the taxes, I'll do it. Because if it was affordable, everyone would live here. And then it'd be hard for everyone to live here. Already so many people are here. But if it was super affordable, it'd be. Why wouldn't you want to move to California? It's got like the best weather ever. You've got the beach, you've got every restaurant you could desire, you've got the city, you've got hikes, you've got the snow. If you want it, like you have every single option you could think of.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, we're spoiled.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah. The taxes are for the weather. Honestly.
Host - Avery Woods
Seriously. But I'm the same. I tell people I love New York but for like three to four days at a time because I get overstimulated.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh yeah. Like a week. And I'm good. And I'm like, I might have a gray hair 100, but I had fun. You know, that's how I holidays. I love New York.
Host - Avery Woods
So beautiful on the holidays, great restaurants. But like see the, the other hard thing for me too is like everyone New York wants to eat at like 11pm for their day.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, I can't do it. I Love it.
Host - Avery Woods
Like 6pm I've been asleep two hours ago.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally.
Host - Avery Woods
Like I can't do that anym anymore. I'm not, I'm not living that life. And then I, I think it's funny too. And this is so random, but when people complain about places like Paris or say it's dirty or smells, I'm like, have you been to New York before? Like the smells in New York or something else?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, it's wild. You know, you don't know what you're stepping in. You know what you're walking on.
Host - Avery Woods
That's why you don't wear society actually.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You do know. Yeah, you do know.
Host - Avery Woods
You just don't want to tell yours.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, you're just like, okay, 100.
Host - Avery Woods
Wait, I was gonna ask you because I know you're an erwan girly. Did you try Kris Jenner's Mother's Day?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I didn't. And I told myself I would. I told myself I wouldn't. I forgot to. I wonder how long they're keeping it about around.
Host - Avery Woods
I was gonna go yesterday, but I knew we were at the beach with the kids and I knew the line was going to be long but I, I want to try it so bad.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I know I, I would do any. I would try anything that she's involved in, honestly. And I'll try any Air1 smoothie at this point.
Host - Avery Woods
So I know her video of her making it behind the counter was iconic. But then just like her facelift is really just another level.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, I know. I'm like, I'm gonna take notes for when I'm 65.
Host - Avery Woods
100. I'm like, you are a sister now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm saving that.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, she's 100 a sister. It's crazy. What was your first impression of LA versus now?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I mean this hasn't change but one. I was like, wow, everyone is beautiful. Like I remember that was the first thing I thought whenever I came, I was like, I left Texas being like, I. I can be a model. And I came to LA and I was like, never mind, everyone's a model here. You know, like, everybody is gorgeous, fit, healthy, everybody is youthful. Like, I just thought everyone was stunning. The other the impression I had that I think was wrong is that I thought everyone was superficial. And of course people do care. There are different things they care about here. But same with, there are different things they care about in Texas. There are different things. You're gonna find bad apples everywhere you go. While in la, I would feel like, oh, someone's gonna judge me if I don't have, like, the nice bag or the nice shoes or the nice things in Texas. I kind of feel like when I go out, they might judge me if I do. If I wear a mini dress to my supermarket with high heels on and my hair done, just that alone, exclude bags, shoes, anything. People would be like, who does she think she is? Like, what is she doing at the supermarket in a mini dress? Someone would probably say something to me, like, when I was younger and I'd wear little booty shorts and hoochie shorts out. Women would stop me and be like, miss your asses out. You know? And I'm like, I know.
Host - Avery Woods
You're like, I know.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Obviously.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
But, yeah, it's like they're gonna judge you for different things. So I kind of learned in la, not everyone's from la, they're from everywhere else. So you've just got to find your. Your good group of people. Yeah, you're good. Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
Your core. Your core group.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, I agree.
Host - Avery Woods
I'm sure you always dabbled in social media, but you really took off in the influencing world during the pandemic. Is that what you said? Yeah. Was that just because kind of everything was shut down and shoots weren't really
Guest - Model and Content Creator
going on and a little bit I really got. I hopped on Tick Tock kind of early on and during the pandemic, like, everyone, I was bored and I got on Tick Tock and I think I got on it just early enough before there were too many fashion and, like, beauty creators on TikTok. And so at that time, it was super easy to get a viral video.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Every you do, you know, a little outfit transition, you would, you know, jump and your outfit would change. Like, that was so remarkable and it would get millions of views and you could wake up with like 200,000 more followers in a week. Whereas now the algorithm's not like that.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So there was that, and then there was. Yeah. At the time, like, some of my modeling clients were calling my agent and saying, like, can she produce this shoot at home? Can she just do it on her own? Because we can't be in a studio for this. This job or the shoot. And I would produce the shoots in my living room on my own. And I started thinking, like, okay, I'm hairstylist, I'm makeup artist. I'm photographer now. I'm creative director. I'm doing all these things. And my friend in marketing who's helped me so much was like, girl, you shouldn't be charging modeling rates anymore. Like, you're now producing the whole thing. Like, you should just be a creator. You should just be an influencer. Like, you'd get paid so differently. And at the time, all my content creator jobs were going through my modeling agent, and, like, he truly didn't know what to charge.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
For, like, influencer stuff, it's different than so different modeling. Unless you're, like, legitimately one of the great. Obviously, if you're like, Bella Hadid, like, you're gonna have an insane modeling rate. But otherwise, as a content creator, you can honestly make so much more money. It's got its own challenges, but it's so much easier. Modeling is.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So much harder.
Host - Avery Woods
Yes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Than, like, filming TikToks and doing brand deals.
Host - Avery Woods
Absolutely. I. I fully agree to that. And I've seen and been friends with models, and I see what they do day in, day in, day out, and it's so different. And as a content creator, we. A privilege. Like, it's such a privileged job to be able. And it's hard work. Don't get me wrong. Like, I was an ICU nurse. I worked during the pandemic, and I will never compare what I do now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So, you know, hard work.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. So I know. I. I know what hard work is, but also I see the other side when people are like, how hard could it be? And I'm like, the challenges are different. You're comparing an apple to an orange. There's. There's challenges with everything that you do, and living life in the public eye with millions and millions of unwarranted opinions from people that don't know you is really hard.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah. It can just give you, like, an anxiety that, like, a lot of people can't relate to, which is okay.
Host - Avery Woods
Yes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
But it's just that. That little bit of anxiety knowing that, like, if you share things about yourself, they're going to be potentially scrutinized or, like, on and it's you just living your life. And sometimes people say stupid things or do stupid things they don't mean.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
But when it's on the Internet, it's forever.
Host - Avery Woods
Yep. How do you think the influencing Instagram world has evolved and changed since when you started versus now?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
When I first started and I was a model, I remember it was like, corny to be considered, like, an Instagram model. Like, I was like, oh, I don't want to be an Instagram model. So for me, I started noticing when it became important was going to castings and they're like, how many followers do you have? And I was like, what? Why is that relevant?
Host - Avery Woods
Really?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah. Like, it would. I was like, shouldn't you just care about my portfolio? It became kind of this relevant thing. And so it kind of started with me posting more, like modeling photos and selfies and things like that and growing a following that way. I feel like Instagram in the beginning for everyone. I think now it's still equally as curated, but people kind of hide it under the guise of it being organic. Like these organic photo dumps and real in the moment things. And obviously now short form video, which we never had. I mean, that's like the. Probably the biggest change would be short form video Tick Tocks and like everybody having the opportunity to become a creator. Anyone, anybody with a phone can get on Tick Tock and film something, get a lot of views and build a platform. Whereas in the beginning it was like curated selfies and stuff on Instagram. So I'd say short form video has changed. And then now I think everything is more like organic photo dumps and real and in the moment and people being vulnerable. But I always say, and like, don't get it twisted, everyone's still curating, yes, organic, perfect, like curated photo dump of their weekend, even though they're in a hoodie eating hot Cheetos. Like, that was intentionally absolutely chosen for the cool girl vibes and the dump.
Host - Avery Woods
Absolutely. Yeah. It's all very intentional.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally.
Host - Avery Woods
I think it has evolved to become also very negative.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's true.
Host - Avery Woods
Like, I think the hate has gotten insane and out of control.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
There's just so many eyes on everything and everyone has an opinion and everyone wants to be an expert in every field. And yeah, easy to be a hater when you're behind a screen with no profile picture.
Host - Avery Woods
I think Tick Tock's the worst, though. Yeah. Because Tick Tock is pushed out to so many people that don't know you or, like, don't follow you for who
Guest - Model and Content Creator
you can get the most love or the most hate on Tick Tock. Yeah, and it could vary video to video. You can have one video and everybody like loves you just in that one video. And then the next one you're like, oh, this hit the wrong side of Tick Tock or whatever it is.

I think you have one of the most aesthetically pleasing Instagrams I've ever seen. Like, everything is so soft and like natural and really beautiful and you can tell it's very intentional. Walk me through so I personally can take notes how you plan that, what, what a shoot looks like for you for Instagram. Do you do it yourself? Do you have help? Like, I need the tips.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Okay, well, thank you. First of all, that's such a great compliment. I do try really hard with my feed. Probably like an embarrassing amount, honestly.
Host - Avery Woods
But it's your job. It is.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You put a lot of effort in. I've always looked at social media is like a job. Like I'm not on there sharing just every bit of my personal life on social. Like, I look at it as kind of my work and now as my a new version of my portfolio. So as much as I want to be that organic cool girl with the photo dumps, I just can't do it. Like, if I'm being honest, I'm not one to like organically create content just out and about throughout my day. Like, I have an assistant I meet with once a week and we get together and we do like content days. So I will batch content and shoot like organic looking but curated. That's why I say everything that looks organic online is not necessarily organic because we will batch shoot content together. So she'll come to my house or we'll meet out and about. We'll shoot all of our content together and then I go home and add my filters and whatever. And that's kind of my content for the week. And then I plan my grid. I'd say definitely Tick Tock. That is where I'm so much more organic. Like anytime I'm getting ready, if I'm going to dinner with a friend, I'm gonna film it and talk about my week or whatever drama or just a makeup tutorial, whatever it may be, and put it on Tick Tock. But Instagram, like I curate it. I find it so hard when I'm in the moment having like lunch with a friend. I'm not like, oh, let's get photos. Take photos of me. I can't do it. Yeah, I used to, but now I'm like, I've got it. If I want a cute photo at that restaurant, I'm gonna plan it and go do it like it's my job. Because it is.
Host - Avery Woods
And it's nice to, to do it in a batch though and like knock it all out.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And then the rest of the week
Host - Avery Woods
you can bum it and you can relax. And I feel like if I'm going somewhere and planning in my head, like, okay, I have to do content. I need to get a photo or a video. I can't relax until I get it done.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You're thinking about it at so pathetic. But it's like you're thinking about it while you're eating and I'm like, I want to enjoy. Or like you're. The food comes out and now it's getting cold. Cuz you wanted a photo with the pancakes in front of you and how ridiculous. And it's like, it's so. I'm like, let's live our lives.
Host - Avery Woods
I know.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And then I can batch this out and treat it like a job. And that's what I tell anyone who wants to get into content creation. Just treat it like a job. Because it is. If you want it to be your job, treat it like a job. Plan it like that so that you can still have a life outside of it where you're not. And not everyone does. I have met and I'm sure you've seen content creators who are like, like on their phone 24. They walk in a restaurant, they're like filming walking in, and then they're filming the dinner and they're filming this. And you're like, I can't hold a conversation with you.
Host - Avery Woods
It's so hard. And I, I have learned as I've gotten older to just live in the moment and put my phone down. And now it's like, if I don't want to post on Tick Tock for a week, I won't. I just like, I used to be,
Guest - Model and Content Creator
let yourself have it.
Host - Avery Woods
And like, back, like what you were saying, growing on Tick Tock, like, that's my largest platform. During the first surge of the pandemic when I worked as a nurse in 2019 was when I first started posting and it wasn't even consistently, but it was like what you said, like, you can just blow up totally at that time.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Spaghetti and it have like a few million views. Yes.
Host - Avery Woods
What?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yes. No concept for no reason.
Host - Avery Woods
And it took me five seconds. I wouldn't even think about it. I would just hit post. And then when I realized the algorithm was pushing creators that were posting like three to five videos a day, I literally promised myself, I was like, you will post three to five videos a day while I worked full time as a nurse for two years and not take a day off.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Wow.
Host - Avery Woods
And I would, like, get anxious. It'd be like 5pm Like, I haven't posted my fourth video. Four videos. Like, I was not even.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I could never now, but then never. It was motivational then too, though, because everything would perform well. And so then you were like, yeah, I keep it going a lot. Yes.
Host - Avery Woods
And I don't have any. Like, I. That was hard work and I put a lot of work ethic in and that's how I was able to grow my platforms. And so I don't regret it at all.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
But now I found the healthy balance of like, not everything needs to be recorded. Put your phone down, enjoy your moment with your people and like, look up from your screen 100.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I mean, least back then it was like, you didn't have the fomo. We weren't going out to eat with friends. So it wasn't like, like you could be at home in your screen and you didn't have that guilt because you're like, I'm not ruining my dinner out with my friend. I'm. I'm ordering postmates at home.
Host - Avery Woods
Yes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Or cooking for myself. I was so paranoid. I was scared to even get postmates at first. You know, that first like, oh, yeah. Month or two where it was like. Or even. I forget how long. Six months, who knows where I was like, it's in the food. Because somebody could have breathed on it, you know?
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, no one would see me.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, yes.
Host - Avery Woods
Because I would cross the hospital, I
Guest - Model and Content Creator
walked my dog, I'd cross the street to the other side.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, it was insane. Like, I even my leisure hair removal place. Place was like, we see in your chart that you are a nurse. Are you working with COVID patients? And I said, well, I work in the pediatric icu, so, like, we're not getting COVID patients every day like adults. But, like, yeah, we get them. They refuse to see me.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh. They were like, stay back, girl.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, it was crazy. I had to have a C section with a mask on even though I had a negative COVID test.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Fever dream.
Host - Avery Woods
But, like, a different believe.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It was like, a real. That was a real time.
Host - Avery Woods
Weird, right?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We lived through it, and now here we are. I know. Like, it never happened.
Host - Avery Woods
It's really so wild. I was gonna ask you, and I just was staring at you and was thinking about it. I want to know, like, your top five makeup products right now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Makeup by Mario the soft sculpt bronzer.
Sponsor Representative
The best.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Every day melts into yours. Obsessed with that.
Host - Avery Woods
Yep.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
There's a lip liner I can't live without. It's Urban Decay naked, too.
Host - Avery Woods
Buying that to me. Is that what you're wearing right now?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm wearing Tom Ford irresistible on top of it. So if I'm, like, gonna be on camera, I like to do, like, an even darker lip liner. So Urban Decay Naked two is my everyday. And then Tom Ford irresistibles. Like, if I was gonna do a carpet or be on camera or do, like, a photo shoot or something.
Host - Avery Woods
Can you write that down, Jazzy, and text it to me later? Because I'm buying that one Sephora app right now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Lip liners. I could fill all five beauty products with just lip liners.
Host - Avery Woods
And do you have, like, nubs everywhere you go? Because I'm such a dedicated lip liner girl that it's like, it's wherever. Walnut or anywhere. Caffeine makeup forever.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Wherever walnut was.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
One of my top. It's still probably in my top three.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. If I'm needing something that I know is gonna work, like, just give it to me. But I just have, like, nubs every. My husband's like, do you need. I'm like, yes. Don't waste that.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It'll be down here. I had, like, one from Marc Jacobs that got discontinued because the whole line did. And the way I kept that nub for, I was like, I'm sending this to a manufacturer, and I'm starting a lip liner business.
Host - Avery Woods
You should.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And I'm gonna only have one product, and it's gonna be the Marc Jacobs nudist lip liner. I'm obsessed in my own packaging because I'M gonna dupe. This product, I think eventually dried out. But I, I might still have it in my drawer because I couldn't let it go. And it's like y twist up. And it was down to. I'm talking like a millimeter. And I didn't even want to use it cuz I wanted to savor it.
Host - Avery Woods
I think I have like an emotional attachment and PTSD from wherever walnut because I was obsessed with it. And then Haley Bieber had to say it was her favorite and then it sold out everywhere. And so I was just keeping nubs.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Then you're. You're terrified. You're like, it's going to, it's going to get sold out or it's going to be disc. If you love one too much, they discontinue it for some odd reason. It's like too popular. They're like, we're going to take it away from you now just to make you want us more.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. Okay. So we are soft skull. We got our lip liner.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We got a lip liner. I'd say the nars radiant creamy concealer.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, great. Custard. I'm custard.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Custard. Everyone I know why not everyone, but like three of my best friends are all custard.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And we all have very different skin tones. And I'm like, how? My friend who's Egyptian has the fairest skin ever. She's custard. And I'm custard. My mom who's super tan is custard. I'm like, how is, how is this happening? Kevin Aucoin glass glow highlighter.
Host - Avery Woods
Have you tried Victoria Beckham highlighter?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I have it and everybody talks about I need to try that because I think I've tried every other highlighter and I'm really picky with highlighters. Incredible. And I think it's one I haven't tried. I need to try. Actually, I haven't really tried any of her products, so.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, okay. Randomly she sent me PR and I became obsessed with her eyeliners. She is an incredible like smudgy eyeliner for like the perfect.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I just saw it. Every time I see a video of her products, I stop and watch it. I don't know why I have to. I haven't just gone into her mascara is incredible.
Host - Avery Woods
Her stylist wand contour stick is the perfect nose contour. I'm telling you, you would love it. Like it's literally like the road lip liner size. Yeah. But for a contour. So you could do your whole face or. I love doing it, like, on my lower. Lash liner on my nose.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, I need that.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. And then my friend was like, you have to try her highlight stick. I love the merit one. Yeah, the highlight bomb. Yeah. Yeah. But literally the same day, my friend told me about it. I got it in pr, and she only has two shades, and it is, like, the most glow from within highlight. It, like, melts into your skin. It's gorgeous. You would love it.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm actually gonna go get it because one of my makeup friends, makeup artist friends, told me to get that the other day, and she was gonna bring it to. I'm crazy. And I do my own makeup for photo shoots, but they usually have a makeup artist on set anyways who's like, doing hair and can touch up makeup, whatever. And she's like, I'm gonna bring it for you so you can try it during the shooting. Cute. And I think she forgot, so I haven't tried it, but it's been on my list since then, so I'm gonna get it. I have a highlighter addiction, honestly.
Host - Avery Woods
What about Blush? Because you have great blush on right now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Blush. I probably have four layered. I layer everything.
Host - Avery Woods
I'm a ho for Blush.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Meet. There's never enough, and nobody ever puts enough on. If a makeup artist does my makeup, I'm like, keep it going, because it's
Host - Avery Woods
the first to wear off.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It disappeared. It's probably gone off my face right now. I'm probably just, like, hot. Because I'm refusing to take off my.
Host - Avery Woods
No, you're perfect.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
There's one from this brand called RMS Beauty.
Host - Avery Woods
I love RMS them.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
They have one called Elusive. I use that. That's, like, my daily, everyday. Probably my favorite. And then for powdered blushes, Kosas has one called Dreamland.
Host - Avery Woods
Yep.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That I really, really like. There's another one. The Hourglass. Their new blushes. You, like, shake them, you turn them upside down, and you put one drop. Like, you get a drop out of the dropper.
Host - Avery Woods
No.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So they have these new blushes and highlighters where you, like, shake it. It's liquid, and you squeeze the tube, and, like, one drop comes out. And it is so pigmented, I don't know the color. I.
Host - Avery Woods
Because I love their ambient palettes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, they're powdered blushes, too. Yeah. So they have, like, new liquid blushes. And there's one that I've been wearing. It might be called Divine, but don't quote me. I really don't know.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
The color, but they're really good.
Sponsor Representative
All right.
Host - Avery Woods
My Sephora app's Gonna be stacked after this conversation.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm going and getting all Victoria Beckhams.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, she. It's amazing. And like, I don't know if you watched her their documentary on Netflix.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I haven't, no.
Host - Avery Woods
It's amazing. And she talks about like her beauty line and she just puts like a lot of effort. She's very hands on with.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You can tell. I mean, even the palette packaging is like so beautiful. And you can tell it wasn't like a. A fast done company.
Host - Avery Woods
And I really appreciate when I get PR and you can tell the efforts in like she sends it in like a really beautiful satin or velvet bag that I genuinely use when I like pack my stuff or if I'm going on a trip. But her stuff is very good and it's really universal. Like for example, the. The contour stick. I can line my lips with it. I can contour my entire face face. I can put it on my lower lash line.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's what I like getting like three or four products that you're like, I use my blush on my lips, my cheeks, the tip of my nose and my eyes. Like getting something that you can use on everything and having like four of those in your bag and just layering it.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, yeah. Love. Are you single?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm not.
Host - Avery Woods
You have a boyfriend?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I have a boyfriend. I've been in a relationship since the seventh grade with the same person.
Host - Avery Woods
You're lying.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
No, I'm not lying.
Host - Avery Woods
Really? Have you ever shared that?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That I have. Yeah. I've actually, like I said, I've kept my. My personal life on social media has been really private. I respect so much like the amount I'm on social media. I've shockingly kept so much about my personal life. Like not a secret, but like, I haven't posted about it, but I've done like a couple, especially on Tick Tock. I'll do videos where I just kind of subtly throw it out there. And it's so funny to me, the comments and the assumptions that people make. I just did one the other day where I was like, you know, my boyfriend of 18 years made this remark about my makeup or whatever. Actually we did the math and it's 20 years, which is. Makes me sound. Are you really old?
Host - Avery Woods
I'm actually in shock right now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I thought I was 18 and my boyfriend counted the other day. It was our anniversary and he was like, Babe, it's 20. And I was like, what are you talking about? What do you mean? But everyone in the comments is like, boyfriend. She said boyfriend. You know who's gonna tell her or where's the ring girl? You know, it's only the man's decision, Whatever. And I just think it's so funny when I share 0.05% of my life online, as do a lot of people, even people who seem like they share their whole life online. Nobody's sharing everything online. The assumptions that people make are, oh, he must be like her sugar daddy. And I'm like, babes, did you think I was scouting for a sugar Daddy at 12? I think I was planning that at 12. Kept him all these years after my master plan in seventh grade. It's hilarious though.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay. I won't get too into it.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
But like, I do have so many questions internally. Number one, the fact that you guys have stayed together and you're, you've traveled so much as a model. So he's obviously from Texas. Yes. And then he came to LA with you.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
Like, how has that been? Like, obviously I think it's been like
Guest - Model and Content Creator
the secret for me keeping a long term relationship. I think it's so important whenever you do have a relationship for that long that you grow together. Yes. One which doesn't always happen, obviously. That's why a lot of people aren't in super long relationships like that, that you grow together, that you have your rock, you have loyalty and honesty. Like for me, he was always there kind of grounding me. So whenever I was going off to different places and doing different things, I always had my rock, my support system at home. And then because I was kind of living my own life and doing my own things outside of just our relationship, it wasn't like we were spending every waking second together. We had time to miss each other. So it wasn't ever like super stale. So while he's like my home and I go home and feel feel so comfortable with him. It's not like I think it's important to have your own life or either. Whether it be your career, your life, your time with your girlfriend, something outside of your relationship with your significant other. Because whenever I see people in relationships where they spend every waking second together, they work together, they're sleeping together, obviously they live together. And then you're bringing him on the girls dinners and stuff. Now it's like you're gonna get tired of each other at some point. You're gonna have fights, you're gonna get tired of each other, you're gonna get resentful that he's involved in every single thing you do. You need to have your own life. Life and things that you enjoy outside of your relationship. So I think that's been kind of a key to us staying together.
Host - Avery Woods
Good for you. Yeah, I've been with my husband. I'm 31. I. I was. Met him when I was 18.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I think I heard that in the podcast episode you did, and I was like, you get it.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, I do.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Other people to get it. When they haven't been in a relationship that long, they're like, how if you.
Host - Avery Woods
Yes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Lasted this long, what is it? But whenever you find someone that is like, your support system and your rock and your comfort zone, you're like, this is what I know.
Sponsor Representative
This is what it is.
Host - Avery Woods
And also, I love what you said about growing, like, choosing to grow together. Because When I was 18, I was a freshman in college, I worked at Starbucks. I had nothing to my name. I was applying to nursing schools. Like, that was my goal. I wanted to be a nurse. And obviously, life took a turn, and I feel immensely privileged in what I do now and the way life has gone. But obviously, it's a huge change. And becoming more of a public figure and living life in the public eye and leaving my nursing career and then obviously having a family, becoming parents, that's also a really hard challenge to a relationship because you can't put each other first anymore. Your kids will come first, 100%. And so I. I really resonate with that because we've lived so much life together.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Is your man in the public eye, too?
Host - Avery Woods
He doesn't even have social media.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's. That's my man. Like, that's also the secret. Get you a man not on social media.
Host - Avery Woods
Yes. That part. He doesn't even have the apps on his phone. And I love it so much.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
That's beautiful.
Host - Avery Woods
I love it so much because he keeps me grounded, he keeps me humble, and, like, if I'm having a hard day or, you know, people are being mean, whatever. He's like, you live in real life.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
These are.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
He's like, who cares?
Host - Avery Woods
These are losers on the Internet that don't know you. He's like, look at. Look at our life and what you've built. Like, he's my number one supporter, and
Sponsor Representative
it's for sure, so refreshing.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I love. No, I love that. I feel the same. Yeah. My man. It's like, if I'm complete, if I was even talking about another creator, I could talk about, like, the most famous creator on the Internet right now, and he'd be like, who's that?
Host - Avery Woods
Isn't it the best? Best?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
He has no idea. I'm like, are you serious?
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm like, she had seven super bowl commercials. What are you talking about? And he'll be like, I don't know.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, yeah, That's. My husband will point at someone, be like, look at. That's Lenny Kravitz. I'm like, no, it's not. No. He doesn't know a single celebrity. Like, I'm talking once a week. He'll be like, that's Tom Holland. I'm like, not even remotely even close to what he looks like.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm like, are you okay?
Host - Avery Woods
No, but I kind of.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Facial analysis is creep.
Sponsor Narrator
I know.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Every blonde girl is Sabrina Carpenter to my boyfriend. Yeah, every blonde girl is Sabrina. I'm like, okay, it's definitely not.
Host - Avery Woods
Or I'll point out a celebrity. Like, we were in Paris, actually, during Paris Fashion Week at a really small sushi bar. And what's Macaulay Culkin's brother? Rory, right? Kieran Culkin. That's him. And he was sitting at the bar by himself. And I was like, that's Macaulay Culkin's brother. He's like, no, it's not. And I literally Google him. And he was wearing, in the red carpet photo the exact sweater and the stack of bracelets at the bar. And it was like a really small, like, Michelin star kind of hard restaurant to get into. But our family has a flat there. And so they, like, knew the owners. I don't know. We just somehow got into this restaurant. He was sitting by himself, having a drink, and no one talked to him. No one. Like, we didn't bug him.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
But my husband was like, no.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
He's like, that's not him.
Host - Avery Woods
That's not him.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah. Me and my boyfriend sat next to. Do you ever watch Seinfeld, Love? Okay. You know George Costanza?
Host - Avery Woods
Yes.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I don't know his real name. I just. That's George Costanza to me. Jason Alexander.
Host - Avery Woods
Yep.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We sat down at Great White, and you know how it's like. It's like booths at Great White. I love all a connected booth.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah, it's all one.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You don't have your own individual booth. My boyfriend was butt to butt with George Costanza, and I text him because I'm trying not to freak out. And it was ironic because I asked to change tables. We got the table, and I was like, I hate sitting super close to people. And so I was like, oh, this is, like, really close to that guy. Can we get a different table? And the waitress is like, oh, I'm sorry. Like, this is all we have available. And I'm like, okay, that's fine. I'm like, that guy. I'm over here not wanting to sit close to some guy. And I'm like, it's freaking George Costanza, an icon. And we sit down and I text my boyfriend, like, that's George Costanza next to you from Seinfeld. And he's like, no, it's not. And I'm like, you're going to have this whole dinner thinking you're not next to George Costanza when you are definitely next to George Costanza. But he refused to. He didn't want to look next to. They're so close. He's like, he can't look up at him.
Host - Avery Woods
It's awkward.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So instead we're just texting about it and events. Eventually, George Costanza gets up to go, and my boyfriend's like, that was George Costanza. I'm like, yeah. And then all the tables in our vicinity all were like, do you know who you guys were seated next to? And we're like, yeah. I was like, told you. You need to listen to me more.
Host - Avery Woods
It's weird in LA how often you see people and you're like, holy. Yeah, it's kind of wild.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It really is.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And normally I'm like, one. My boyfriend wouldn't know who anyone is. Yeah, I wouldn't.

Host - Avery Woods
There's like Oprah or something. Yes. There's only certain people that I'd be like, whoa.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Uhhuh.
Host - Avery Woods
Sorry to bug you, but I love you.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah. Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
There's like five.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I almost regret that I didn't say anything to George Costanza, but he, I think he was with his wife and a group of people.
Host - Avery Woods
You let him enjoy his lunch.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, I wasn't going to be. I didn't want to be that person.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. Okay, so we end with rapid fire. But I have one more question before we get to that.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
Will you get married?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We definitely will get married. And it's like I said, the most common question that I get on my videos, like who's gonna tell her? And the irony is that I think everybody assumes whenever they hear a 20 year relationship that it's his decision whether we get married or not. They assume that I'm sitting here dying to get married, waiting for a proposal and that that's his decision. When the reality is it's like a joint decision that we've both made to not be married at the moment.
Host - Avery Woods
Absolutely.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We live life as if we are married. We live together. We've been together forever. But it's, it's both of our decisions. And the minute I say let's get married, it's going to happen. So we are going to get married. We're not in a big rush too. It's never been like the biggest priority for me, if I'm being honest. But it's going to happen.
Host - Avery Woods
And you're respecting your boundaries. Totally. And I love that you don't let outside opinions sway you. That's amazing.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It's funny. I'm like. I honestly feel flattered that anybody actually cares. God, people care about my relationship.
Host - Avery Woods
I'm like, look at you, babe. I don't think you're, like, struggling to get a rock on it. Okay. So, yeah. Anyways, I can't wait. You'll be the most beautiful bride ever. Okay. Rapid fire. Favorite song to play on piano.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I learned a little bit of canon and D. You know, the Christmas song. When I was, like, a kid, I did piano and I learned canon and D. And I would be so. It didn't matter if it was July. I was so into that intro.
Host - Avery Woods
Just bumping it. Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I could do maybe just, like, the first. The first couple notes still. If you have a piano anywhere.
Host - Avery Woods
Do you have a piano in your house?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I don't, but I would love one.
Host - Avery Woods
My friend, really weird. She grew up playing piano. She's insanely good at it. She found the most gorgeous piano on Craig's list.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I found one on Facebook, Marketplace, the other day, but for the life of me, I can't find a spot to put it.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, see, that's hard too. It takes up so much room.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It really does.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. What's your comfort TV show?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Comfort TV show? Probably Sex in the City.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, I could watch it over and over.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Sex in the City. Seinfeld.
Host - Avery Woods
Yep. Sex in the City is the reason I became obsessed with martinis.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Huh.
Host - Avery Woods
So she and I just, like, felt so cool at the restaurant, and now I genuinely love them. Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I used to, when I was, like, little, I would cosplay. If I was, like, not feeling confident going somewhere, I'd be like, walk like Samantha. Iconic because she's confident. I was like, how? I'd walk into a casting, age 15, I'd be like, I'm Samantha Jones.
Host - Avery Woods
It's like, I'm still obsessed with the fact that Sarah Jessica Parker negotiated in her contract to get every single piece of clothing and jewelry from. Do you know that?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, that I do think I've heard that before. And that is. That is goals. Like, I wish. I mean, not that I've ever worn outfits that iconic to, like, get to keep anyways. But if I ever do get that opportunity, I'm gonna remember that her agent
Host - Avery Woods
literally told her, you're not gonna have
Guest - Model and Content Creator
a lot of cheating. She has them in, like, her own storage museum. She doesn't have them at home. I remember hearing that.
Host - Avery Woods
So apparently they didn't expect it to go as well as it did. And so she didn't have a lot of negotiating in her contract. So he was like, negotiate that you want to keep all the clothes and all of the jewelry. And she got every single piece from every. Every season and every movie.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
At this point, it's worth more probably than like at least season one. By season two, I'm sure she was getting banged.
Host - Avery Woods
I mean, insane. I can't even imagine. I. I still want her Dior rings that she wore across her knuckles. Like, those are the brass knuckles that I would wear.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, totally.
Host - Avery Woods
You know, you can beat some ass with those. If your friends describe you in one word, what would they say?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Embarrassing.
Host - Avery Woods
That's not true.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
No, it is true.
Host - Avery Woods
You're.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
You're seeing like the very.
Host - Avery Woods
The curated version.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Curated version? Yeah. Like whenever I told them I was going on a podcast, they were like, oh, no, be careful.
Host - Avery Woods
No.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, they were like, just watch what you say and don't overshare. No, I'm a chronic overshare, so it's like I have to be conscious to not.
Host - Avery Woods
I didn't know you were in a 20 year relationship, so I'm going to think you're not an oversharer.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I'm not online, but that's what I was like. Oh, God. If you put me in front of someone and I start having a conversation, I might become one.
Host - Avery Woods
But no, you've done amazing.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
We've done good.
Host - Avery Woods
Last thing you got influenced to buy online.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Last thing I got influenced. I'm a big tik tok shop girly.
Host - Avery Woods
There's some good on tik tok shop.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It's a problem because now my algorithm knows that I've bought things on there, so it only gives me a tik tok shop. So I got like the cakes. Nipple covers, what I'm talking about. I'm wearing them right now. This is not. Obviously, I'm just, I just.
Host - Avery Woods
My nipple covers got like the stick lost, so I was going to order some more.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
These are. They don't have any sticky on the back. Back. They're just like a.
Host - Avery Woods
How do they just stay?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
They just stay. I don't know how to. They almost suction cup. They just like, if you wear kind of. If you wear a really, really loose T shirt, it wouldn't work. But if you're wearing that, that would be good. Like it would be enough to hold it. So I have them on now and it's just like they're big. They cover almost like your whole boob.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Which is great because then sometimes nipple
Host - Avery Woods
covers look like that's why I didn't wear them because they look like a bigger nipple.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And then it's like, it looks funny. So I got the cakes. I also got. There was like some kind of stringy underwear that you can't see. I got those on Tik Tok Shop. The Wa TikTok hair thing. I'm always buying something.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
On Tick Tock Shop that I'm influenced by some girl posting a Tick Tock Shop ad. Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I love being influenced.
Sponsor Representative
It's bad.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
It's my favorite activity and I love it.
Host - Avery Woods
That's like our job. But we're the most easily influenced people.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So easily. And it'll be like, hashtag, ad Tick Tock Shop link, whatever. And I'll still sit there and watch it and order Harambles Crumbles. I don't know if you get those ads. I ordered those.
Host - Avery Woods
What's that?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
They're like chocolate, like diet chocolate. It was like $40 too for these chocolates.
Host - Avery Woods
Damn.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
They weren't worth it.
Host - Avery Woods
But I bought like the candy Cris crystals.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Oh, I haven't gotten that. Now I'm gonna get an ad for it.
Host - Avery Woods
They're like the crystals, like full with jelly that you like, bite into. They were very good. And they were really expensive. Too.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Good. I don't need anything else to buy, honestly.
Host - Avery Woods
Yeah. But you know what I tell myself when I buy stuff like that is because I put myself in their shoes and I'm like, I'm just supporting them.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah.
Host - Avery Woods
You know, I'm giving them commission. So it's fine.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Totally. I'm like 40 haram bulls crumbles. I don't know what the commission is off of that. Yeah, that'll be all right. All right.
Host - Avery Woods
Favorite city you've traveled to too.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
So hard. Because I like different cities for different reasons. Honestly. LA is my favorite city.
Host - Avery Woods
Really? Yeah. Okay.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
What's to live in?
Host - Avery Woods
What's one of your top favorites outside our country?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I mean, I love Italy. I love Lake Como. I love Positano.
Host - Avery Woods
I've never been to Italy. I know our 10 year wedding anniversary is in June and we never. I was thinking, because we never took. We never did a wedding or a honeymoon. So we're doing a vow null. So I was thinking of doing like a two week, like Italian honeymoon.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I mean, Lake Como itself is. Is just so magical. The thing is, now Europe is so expensive.
Host - Avery Woods
Don't get me started on the plane tickets just to get there.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
The plane to everything is. It's an investment to go to Europe now. But I love Sant. I would say Italy. Like Lake Como or Positano is maybe my favorite. Not to live but for a vacation.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay. Most used emoji right now.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Most used emoji. I do love the one that's like.
Host - Avery Woods
You just reminded me of that tick tock when people were like, can you make this meme with your face? That's what you looked like. Like the like scared.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Like it's kind of like. Like it's like.
Host - Avery Woods
Got it.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Like I use that one a lot. You know the. This is so basic. The little.
Host - Avery Woods
Oh, the hand.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Heart.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay, last question. What's the most Texas thing about you?
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Still the most Texas thing about me. I'd still say y' all all the time. Time my southern accent can come out. Give me. No, I don't even need a drink. But if you give me a drink, it's definitely fully going to be there.
Host - Avery Woods
I was gonna say the hair volume.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
And the volume higher.
Host - Avery Woods
The hair closer to God.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
Yeah, exactly.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay. Well, you killed your first podcast. Thank you. You crushed it. You were such a natural. I love getting to know you.
Guest - Model and Content Creator
I appreciate it. This was fun. I was. I was scared I was gonna say something stupid and over.

We're going to have a fuck ton of volume in our hair though. And then your rollers out.
Host - Avery Woods
Okay. Oh, I will. I love a good roller moment. And then we'll exchange favorite beauty products.

Episode: the internet is not real | kara del toro
Host: Avery Woods
Guest: Kara Del Toro (Model and Content Creator)
Date: May 18, 2026
This episode of CHEERS! with Avery Woods features a lively, candid conversation with Kara Del Toro—a model and leading content creator. Over a glass of wine, Avery and Kara explore the realities behind internet personas, the evolution of social media, balancing public and private life, and Kara’s unique journey from Texas to LA. The discussion is rich with honest insights about authenticity, career pivots, and the importance of staying grounded amid the relentless pace of influencer culture.
"I started when I was 15... and somehow wound up on the content creation side of things. During the pandemic that became my full-time job." — Kara (02:24)
"My worst fear is showing up and everyone being like, you look worse in person than you do online. I’d rather them be disappointed online, but I feel and look great in person." — Friend of Kara, recalled by Kara (03:38)
"I went through my own health journey... cut out caffeine, sugar, carbs—and once I quit caffeine, I haven’t had an episode since." — Kara (05:06-06:22)
"They gasp when you ask for almond milk. 'What kind of animal do you milk for that?' I'm like, no—literal, a nut. Almond." — Kara (11:13)
"Now I don’t idolize anyone based off of photos or the internet anymore either." — Kara (16:45)
"It's so easy to be nice. Even selfishly, isn’t it just more fun for you to be nice?" — Kara (18:02-18:06)
"When I first started, it was corny to be considered an Instagram model... Now everyone wants to be a creator." — Kara (26:35)
"Anyone who wants to get into content creation—just treat it like a job. Plan it like that so you can still have a life outside of it." — Kara (33:40)
Kara has been with the same boyfriend since 7th grade (over 20 years)—a fact she keeps largely private from the public eye.
