Stories of personal growth, life lessons and choices. What does it mean to Choose Your S.O.U.L.?
Choosing Your S.O.U.L. embraces four essential principles:
1️⃣ Choose Yourself: Prioritize your well-being, recognizing your intrinsic value and potential. It’s about aligning decisions with your authentic self, even if it diverges from societal norms.Self-awareness & self-compassion guide this process, fostering the courage to set boundaries and say no to what doesn’t serve you. This isn’t selfishness; it’s acknowledging that self-care is essential for serving others effectively.
2️⃣Choose Optimism: Embrace a positive outlook, focusing on solutions amid life’s challenges. Optimism doesn’t deny difficulties but reframes them as opportunities for growth.Finding the silver linings and learning from setbacks, cultivate resilience, and focus on what’s within your control. This mindset fosters courage, openness, and a relentless pursuit of personal and collective betterment.
3️⃣ Choose Understanding: Cultivate empathy and open-mindedness toward others’ perspectives. Listening without judgment allows you to comprehend diverse experiences deeply.Recognize the complexity of human stories & engage in genuine dialogue to build meaningful connections. Set aside biases, embrace diversity, and foster inclusivity in relationships and communities.
4️⃣ Choose Legacy: Live with awareness of your impact on the world and future generations. Legacy isn’t merely about achievements; it’s about the lasting imprint you leave. Align your actions with your values, make intentional choices that transcend immediate gratification. This means sacrificing short-term gains for long-term impact, working toward goals that contribute to society & inspire others to do the same. It’s about aligning your actions with your vision, working towards goals that transcend your lifetime & contribute to the greater good.
We hope we can inspire you to do all of the above on this journey with us 🫱🏼🫲🏽

In this episode of The Choose Your S.O.U.L. Show takes you behind the mic with Teresa, a comedian whose path into stand-up is as raw as it is inspiring. She opens up about how humor became both a survival tool and a craft, and why authenticity isn’t optional—it’s the heartbeat of comedy and life. The conversation dives into the hustle most audiences never see: the late nights, endless practice, and the balancing act of building relationships while chasing laughs. Teresa also gets candid about the shifting landscape of comedy post-COVID, the weight of cancel culture, and why showing up online is as critical as showing up on stage. What stands out is her perspective on laughter as medicine and how pain, when mined with honesty, can turn into material that connects deeply with people. The episode closes with her vision for the future and a reminder that comedy, at its best, is about connection—between performer, audience, and community. One of the biggest themes from this episode is how laughter acts like medicine, not only for the audience but for the comedian too. Teresa shows how authenticity is at the center of both comedy and personal growth—people connect most when you’re real. She also talks about taking painful experiences and flipping them into material that feels relatable, which is part of what makes comedy so healing. We get into how success in this field comes down to consistency and practice, the kind of grind that doesn’t always get seen but makes all the difference. Teresa highlights how the comedy world itself is both competitive and supportive, and how relationships within it can be tricky to navigate. The conversation also touches on the way COVID changed live performances, the growing importance of social media as a platform for comedians, and the tightrope of cancel culture that keeps comics mindful of their material. Through it all, Teresa reminds us that comedy is a long-term journey, one that demands dedication, resilience, and a real love for the craft.Connect with Teresa:Instagram: @teresadegaetanoPodcast: @twostandupgalspodUpcoming Shows & Other Events We hope we can inspire you on this journey with us 🫱🏼🫲🏽📲If you liked this episode, leave us a review!Subscribe to our show and share it to your socials, and make sure you follow @chooseyoursoulshow on instagram📰 Subscribe & Sign up for the newsletter to never miss a show https://chooseyoursoul.show/Follow the hosts on Instagram at @bigdreamhakeem & @thesourcejunkie

In this episode of the Choose Your S.O.U.L. show, we sit down with Haddie Djemal. a Media Trainer & PR Consultant, Emcee, Speaker and Brand Spokesperson.Haddie grew up between worlds. With a Tunisian father and Sudanese mother, her identity never fit neatly into a box—too light for some spaces, too different for others. In Texas, where you were expected to be either Black, white, or Mexican, she constantly felt the pressure to shrink, code-switch, or stay silent. Even when she pursued journalism, she was told neutrality made her credible, which meant watering herself down to be accepted.Haddie always knew she was meant for the spotlight. From five years old she dreamed of television, stories, and connection. That dream clashed with the immigrant script of “doctor, lawyer, engineer... or disgrace.” She tried law, but it didn’t stick. Acting and media did. Yet just as things started flowing, self-sabotage crept in. She packed her life into bags, moved to Tunisia for love, and found herself in the middle of a revolution with no safety net.Coming back broken and lost, Haddie hit a deep depression until her father asked her the question that changed everything: “Why can’t you be as fearless for yourself as you were for someone else?” That was the spark that shifted her from surviving to choosing herself. Her journey is messy, bold, and deeply human. Perfect for anyone ready to stop conforming and write their own story. What We Cover:Trading law school for acting and media, despite cultural pressure to conformMoving to Tunisia, only to face a revolution and a painful wake-up call about love and self-sabotageReturning home in depression until her father’s challenge reframed courage and choiceRedefining “identity crisis” as “identity obsession,” freeing herself from labelsSpiritual awakening that reshaped how she views story, community, and growthThis conversation dives into identity, belonging, fear, and freedom and why your story, raw and unfiltered, is your power.Connect with Haddie:Instagram: @haddiethehostPodcast: The Growth Game (coming soon)Coaching & Consulting: Storytelling, brand amplification, and media strategyWe hope we can inspire you on this journey with us 🫱🏼🫲🏽📲If you liked this episode, leave us a review!Subscribe to our show and share it to your socials, and make sure you follow @chooseyoursoulshow on instagram📰 Subscribe & Sign up for the newsletter to never miss a show https://chooseyoursoul.show/Follow the hosts on Instagram at @bigdreamhakeem & @thesourcejunkie
