Well, that's good. What would you like to talk about today? Because, you know, sometimes you like to say that I get on this soapbox and that I say things that I shouldn't say. So I'm going to try to allow this, this one podcast to be different. I'm going to try to have a more kinder approach.

Yeah. Yeah. You know, I feel like summer is in full swing. Like everyone's kind of doing their thing, you know, and it's going by quickly. Like, it's going by really quick. Looking forward to a trip with the kids or some of the kids, you know, Grayson especially. So having a little uninterrupted time with him, I think that'll be good, you know, because I feel like. And I know we did this with Our kids, like, summer was always a big deal, like, growing up. I don't really feel like summer was a big deal for me growing up. Do you?

It was for me. Yeah, it was for me because my mom always took us on a vacation, right? And so we always went to the beach or I went to New York or, you know, whatever. I mean, I always.

Mountains. You always. The mountains.

I don't do the mountains, folks. Because my mother took me to Cherokee so many times, I feel like that I'm a member of the tribe.

Well, you're not, but I don't feel like it was what it is today for kids, you know, today, it's expected.

[Todd Chrisley]

Well, probably today's. Anything that you can say that you don't feel is the same as it was when we were growing up. It's because we as parents have stripped that fun away from our children because we give. We like, well, why do we have to wait and do that one time a year? I mean, we can let them go and do this. This family's going to go there. Well, we have to go there. So we have. You know, my mom and daddy worked all year long to save Christmas and to be able to go on one trip a year, and our kids go. Grayson thinks nothing of sending me a text or calling me and saying, dad, there's a concert. I would really love to go to that. Okay, son. And these are not cheap Tickets. These are $600 tickets or $1,500 tickets. When your son calls you and says, dad, can I go to Monaco for the race? We have left a whole other realm of reality.

Yeah, I agree. I agree. But we've done it. We've done it to ourselves.

I take accountability for it. Doesn't mean it was right. It was the. It was the greatest moment, mistake of our parenting life.

Right.

Is. Is not having the ability to say no because we viewed no as almost

shameful because we were failing as a parent.

That's right.

And again, I felt like that if I was giving all of this, then surely they know that I love them, because why would I give them everything that I have if I didn't love them?

Right. Yeah, I agree. But I think it's just the changing of times. Right. So many things are different today than when we were growing up. Right? From dating apps to just meeting somebody organically. Right. So many people view like, dating apps. That's the end all, be all. That's the only way you're going to ever meet somebody. Right.

[Todd Chrisley]

And where is the excitement in that? Because if you meet on a dating app.

[Julie Chrisley]

Right, Right.

[Todd Chrisley]

And you set up a date, well, you automatically assume that this is. This is kind of like a business transaction. Okay, well, I met you, so now we're going to go do this. We're going to go have dinner. So, you know. You know what's going to happen. Right. Or you're anticipating what's going to happen.

Sometimes I think people trick you, too. I mean, I've never really. I've never been on a dating app.

[Todd Chrisley]

That's why I don't do it in person. You need to see who.

You're going out really hard today to just organically meet people. Right?

For me. It's not for me.

Well, I hope you're not out here meeting people.

I'm just saying that there are many times that I have been out here in public to where I've been hit on or whatever and likewise. So it's not that hard. If you want to meet somebody, it's there. If you want to meet somebody, keep talking.

Keep talking because you're going to talk yourself into a hole.

I'm not going to talk myself because I ain't never done nothing in my

But what I'm saying is, is that women flirt all the time, so why is a man having trouble finding someone? Guys flirt all the time. Why are you having trouble?

Okay, well, there's way more to it

than that, because we make it way more because we're looking.

I don't know, but I feel like we're.

We're. This is a losing battle because neither one of us have ever been on a dating app.

No, but I'm smart enough to look at it and say that a. From a man's perspective, a man does not want a woman to look at him as, oh, there's potential there. I'm going to be able to live in this neighborhood, drive this car. A man doesn't want that. A man wants you to look at him with the same level of lust that he's looking at you.

It didn't work that way because men and women were wired completely different.

No, I've had a lot of women lust after me and men, too.

Well, I mean, I think certain places will still take cash, but what are

I remember in Atlanta or Atlanta, at the Louis Vuitton store, they had those cash machines that counted all the dollar bills because people would bring all their cash in.

Probably worked at Magic City, where they was making the bulk of the money.

Well, I'm just saying. I. I remember.

But you don't remember when I put that hundred dollars on the table to pay for our bill and they said, we can't take cash? Yeah, do. What did I say to him?

I don't remember.

I said, you will take my cash or you will not get paid.

I. I don't know. It's so weird, but I feel like a lot of businesses, especially small businesses, they don't want to take cash because.

Because they got kids. It's too stupid to count that.

Not just that, but then you got to worry about people stealing.

It's easy, honey. That's been going on since the beginning of time and.

Right? Just technology and AI now, you. We're not good with technology, but this

I know. I have people text me all the time. Is Nanny Faye okay?

Julie, I got a text message, like, three weeks ago and said, I just want to let you know that I'm praying for your. I said, did that bitch die again?

Todd, I know it really is scary for people that the pictures and stuff that can be out here because it looks like it's real and it's not. And they can take your voice and make it sound like it's your you when it's not even you.

This is the mark of the beast. I'm telling you, it's happening.

I mean, I get progression, right? And I think, you know, things have to evolve and they have to, but at some point, I mean, it's just a little bit crazy.

What gets me is that you go online and try to pay Mama's credit card bill using my account or your account, and they tell you because this account doesn't match to the cardholder, you can't pay. But yet they'll allow AI to step in and Control people's lives.

Yeah, it was so funny. So I was having. Me and my friend were meeting for. We're going to meet for lunch, right.

And so she said, well, I'll find us somewhere where we're going to go.

So this is Isabel that she's talking about.

She called and she spoke to someone. It was AI and it was AI and that woman at the restaurant. We get to the restaurant and the, the person that checks was going to check us in, but we didn't have a reservation. She's like, that was some kind of AI. Something that has nothing to do with this. So basically we didn't have a table and there was 100 people on the wait list.

And what. Folks, what y' all don't realize is that with Isabel and Julie, that is truly like the modern day version of Laverne and Shirley.

Yeah, yeah, it kind of is. But that's okay. We found another spot and it was fine. But I think AI can do a lot of positive things.

I like AI for medical stuff. But if you can generate photographs of people, right. Placing them in compromising positions or, you know, they're on the hospital bed dying, or they were at this event when they were not, or whatever.

Right.

[Todd Chrisley]

That's not okay. No, that's not okay.

And how that's going to affect just, you know, the legal system and, and evidence. Well, listen, what's real.

I just saw now that you mentioned that. I just saw where several attorneys were sanctioned by judges for allowing AI to write their briefs.

Really?

Uh huh. Yeah.

Okay, so it's summer, right? Think about your best vacation. I want your best vacation and your worst vacation.

I would say that my. Probably my best vacation was probably seaside when we went the first time. Which is why I fell in love with it while we, when Chase and

Spanner were just little, playing in the

same houses and built houses, whatever, down there. So I would say Seaside was my. Seaside would probably. I. I have more fond memories of Seaside than anywhere else that I've ever been.

And I ain't been back, folks. She booked this trip to some place there. Some spa.

They take our luggage and sling it on top of the van and tie it down with ropes. I knew then we're in trouble.

Oh, I'm sorry. I may have left out a pair of underwear that I needed an extra pair. It goes into hers, and I'm the one has to suffer because she was 79 pounds on the weight list of her suitcase, and it's supposed to be 50, but the one pair of underwear that I put in there is what put her over the edge. You pack like you are literally like you're running from the Fed.

Because I never know what I'm going to wear or what I'm going to need, and I want to make sure I have everything.

Don't you think that it take that. Your life would be so much easier and so much calmer if you didn't have so many choices, probably. So if you give yourself. This is what I have to wear today. Mine is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday. This is my travel home look. So seven full looks. So that's what I got to choose from. Okay, now we go every time. If we're not flying, folks, this is how bad it is. We were flying private six weeks ago, or whatever it was. They picked up her suitcase to put it on the plane, and the pilot said, whoa, I just got to make sure the weights properly. I said, oh, hell no.

But then when we're flying Southwest, she

They were that he gave her a shout out when he won his award this time, and they were making such a big deal out of it. But there's no big deal to be made out of that. You don't have to hate somebody that you have decided this is not where I. That this is not my place.

That as much as I love you, I no longer feel that this place is where I need to be. I can love you from over there.

That's actually a sign of maturity when you can acknowledge what somebody has done for you where. If they've helped you, if they've helped you get through a hard time in your life, if they've been there to build you up, whatever, even though you may not be together, if you can acknowledge that. I think it's. It's growth.

And it's like, I've said, people in your life for a reason. A season or forever.

They're doing the voiceover, but it's, you know, like they're. They're mimicking what I'm saying.

But when I found out that Bunny did it, I was like, oh, my God. I wasn't even talking about. Because I didn't understand what they were trying to do.

And I looked at Chase and I'm like, what in the hell is going on? And I'm looking around Savannah's yard. I see a neighbor across, across the way. So I'm thinking, it's got to be that dick. And so I said, I don't care what he says. So we're getting the rack off the racks off the truck. And I hear you. I'm not going to say it again. In the white T shirt and black shorts, moving the garment racks. This is private property. Leave now or I'm calling the police. I said, golf, Mind your business. And I'm going off, telling Chase, I said, I'm getting ready to punch him in his face. It happens the third time. And Chase is looking around. And Chase looks up and she has these cameras all around her property.

She had to call and have the police not come because they were on

So I think that, I don't think that it's even a question of whether or not they're going to always be relevant because they made reality television. Oh, I did watch something just when I was scrolling with Corey Robertson, the mom, Willie and Corey, and she was talking about how all her kids, their whole family lives on the same piece of property and how they've had to navigate that, right. They've had to learn to set boundaries. But that how she and Willie always wanted their house to be like this open door policy and where the grandkids could come. And I love seeing that because those grandkids just all kind of like end up with her right at their house. And I love that idea. I know some people are like, okay, you're again rose colored glasses thinking that everybody can just live peacefully. But I mean, she talks about it. There are things because you know what some of her children and their spouses, they parent their children differently than maybe what she and Willie did. So you have to learn to navigate that and understand that they are the parents and that you're the grandparent. But I love seeing.

So if we're gonna do that, I

love hearing her perspective on it and how they've made it work, you know,

which is how'd they make it work by a.

Setting boundaries and you know, respecting. I think just respect, you know, she was. Her biggest thing is like they respect, you know, their kids, their adult grown kids as the parents to these grandchildren, you know, and then vice versa, the, the children respect them as the grandparents and that, you know, so I think,

I think that for me, and I'm just speaking for me, you have your own opinions on this. I think for me that I'm okay at this moment saying, okay, that's your child, go do what you're going to do, raise your child however you're going to raise them, because we still have our life to live. I want to be an amazing grandparent. I want to be an amazing father to my adult children, to give them the advice that I believe that they should be getting. But what they do with it ultimately is left up to them. And if you, if, if this is the hill you choose to die on that it's my child and I'm going to do what I want to do and you're going to know. You're not going to tell me what I'm going to do. That's not how this is going to run on. On this compound.

Well, I don't think. We probably won't. Who knows if that'll ever work for us.

Well, and it isn't. If it doesn't, it's not meant to be.

Kids could just come ride their little.

But they can do that with us regardless, because you have cars. You can go pick them up. I will go pick them up.
