Well, we had to do what we had to do back in day. You know, you really want to be pretty, but you didn't have a lot to make you look. No, but you work with what she had to high dining baby oil.

So a lot of stuff is continues to go on in our life, which I think is why we're on television and why we're on these podcasts. But you know, how do you feel about kind of where things stand within our family right now?

Well, you know, I let y' all live yalls life and I live mine, right? I get them do me every day, right? And if y' all want me to do something to help you.

Well, if you want to do it, you do it. But if you don't want to do it.

You know, I got other plans. Yeah, you know, I'm not on a working schedule anymore.

And then today, after this podcast, you're going to help the needy, right?

No, I don't. I don't. I help them if I can, but I'm not gonna put my volunteer.

Oh, I'm going to meet my friends at my happy place up in Evansville, Indiana, and they're waiting on me.

Well, maybe I help them with theirs, too. Okay, so we. We just have a good time, enjoy life. We smile. And that's why I call it my happy place.

Todd, you know, we were talking, you know, Chase and I and Chase, myself and Grayson were talking on Two Sons and me a couple of weeks ago about the differences in generations. Julie and I were talking about the differences in generations, and I showed you a video the other yesterday from one of my friends on Instagram where she was talking about, you know, the older generation. They told you straight up, you knew where you stood. You remember that video? Okay. And so, you know, as I was telling you this morning, folks, you know, she was getting ready and you asked me to, todd, I'm not coming on the podcast and talking no filth.

Yeah, I don't like to do that.

[Todd]

And you said, I'm not going to talk about sexual stuff.

[Nanny Faye]

No, I'm not. Because I don't care about that stuff. I didn't grow up talking about it. And I feel like that is between you and your partner.

So I don't advertise my life, you know, because now I love all my fans and friends there. I love them.

Well, I meet a lot of people on the streets, Todd.

And do you like all of them?

Well, the ones that I like, I might stay in touch. The ones I don't, I wish them well.

Because you are known to give your personal cell number to strangers.

Well, I have give. Not to real strangers, but I might have known somebody for. For several months and I will give it to them. And they call me. I got a lot of old friends that call.

[Todd]

You have had people to come to your door that you have invited into your home that you did not know. Yes, you did.

[Nanny Faye]

No.

When they brought you those flowers when you lived out in West Haven.

[Nanny Faye]

Well, listen, a lot of people bring me flowers.

But Mama, you also know that people show up to the door with flowers. They could have a gun in there.

Well, I'm not really. I don't fool with people like that.

[Todd]

Well, honey, you're not fooling with them. You don't know them. They're strangers.

[Nanny Faye]

Well, I don't believe they're going to bring me flowers. Flowers and going to kill me. I don't believe that.

Well, I'm not going to let anything happen to you like that. Well, that's why I have to stay on top of things and make sure that you are doing okay.

Well, I'm doing good.

Because now what. What else big has happened in your life recently?

[Nanny Faye]

I don't know. I got a new car.

[Todd]

Oh, she got a new car. Because so many people was concerned when you said it was about time for you to have a new car.

Well, I got one and I'm going to put a few miles on it today.

[Todd]

Now, folks, she got rid of her car, traded it in and to get her a new Mercedes. And she had 112,000 miles.

[Nanny Faye]

And then was good miles. I never put one on there. When I come to Pensacola, I never worried about a mile. When I go to the casino, I don't worry about.

[Todd]

Because that's where the majority of those.

[Nanny Faye]

Those miles were good miles.

[Todd]

They wasn't rough miles.

And your car sold in a matter

of 48 hours because it still like new.

It was like brand new.

I always had it serviced very little.

Those were happy miles. So, folks, when you're buying a car, you need to make sure if those were angry miles or happy miles. Because that makes a difference, doesn't it?

Well, you know, I guess God looks down on you and shines the light on you. Because when I would be coming to see you, I wasn't worried about a mile. I was happy and sad. I pray a while and cry a while. But I knew I was going to get to see you.

He's been with me my whole life. I will never say anything. He has been. He blesses me every day. Look at me.

Now, me and papa will buy you a little gas and we'll give you a few dollars. But don't you ever ring my doorbell. And it is something that you shouldn't be because you told them.

Well, sometimes I've helped them out, got out of it. But I have paid speeding tickets. But it wasn't doing 100 miles an hour. If it had been, I wouldn't have done it.

Yeah, I had to get home and get myself straightened out. I just had a fall.

And then stole the proceeds, the pills, and took them his cell. Now he's in a situation. Now he's wanting lenient sentences. He ought to get just exactly what he gave those people that he chased down.

That, too. And so do you think that Judge Elijore Ross should be allowed to just have a private reprimand or do you believe that she should lose her job on the bench.

There's no job that she should have a lifetime commitment to. And when you make foolish and stupid choices, you should pay like the people that you sentenced before that walked up before you. You're no better. You breathe and sleep just like everybody else. And when you know that you're doing something wrong, there's a price you're going to have to pay. Because Jesus says, revenge is mine. I will take care of it. It might not be today, tomorrow, but when he hits you, you gonna remember it. So I'm sure she's remembering a lot of things that she's done in her time on that bench. And think about her daughters. She didn't even go out in the woods or go get a cheap motel. She did it in the judges chambers that we pay for.

Mm, you're right. You're right. Well, did you know that they sent one of the cushions on her sofa all for forensic examining?

Well, I don't know what they did in thing, but why would they do that? Because they want to catch her red handed.

Do you remember that you were making homemade biscuits the day that Daddy was sitting at the end of the table reading the Anderson Independent?

Well, then let me see if I can remind you folks, my mother is exactly who you think she is. She is a good, kind, decent, innocent woman. And my daddy never wanted you around anything that was trashy because he felt like you were above it. Now, he didn't mind going and being a little trashy every now and then, but you, he kept out of that. Would you agree with that?

Yeah, I never was around nothing.

[Todd]

Yeah. So you were making homemade biscuits. Julie and I had come up there with the kids for the weekend because Harvey was the preacher at the church there, and we stayed with y'. All. And it was. My dad was sitting here at the end of the table. My brother was sitting across the table. I was here. And then this chair was empty. And this Chair was empty and the one beside me and Judy was washing dishes. And you were making homemade biscuits. Because we were having breakfast. And my dad back, back at that time the newspaper was delivered to your house, thrown out the driveway. Every day was called the Anderson Independent.

And daddy was reading and he had his glasses. Right here is reading. And he said, faye, they gonna get you, boy. And you was making those biscuits and you said, oh, God, Gene, I wished you would shut the hell up. You're like a clatter bone and a goose's ass loose at both ends. And she's making these biscuits, rolling the dough out. He said, faye, they got the DNA on the fat gal's dress. You remember that?

Yeah, I did. Okay, I remember. They got the DNA on fat gals

dress is what your husband said. Now none of you fat girls come at me because I didn't say that. My daddy, who's dead and gone, let him rest. He said you was fat girls. He said, they got the DNA on the fat girl's dress. Gals dress. Gene, I wish you would shut the hell up. They not going to lock the president of the United States up for talking about sex. And I looked at daddy and looked at you. And Daddy went,

And I said, mama, what the hell are you talking about? You said, all they got on him is that all sex? All that oil sex. And Todd, if they locked up every man in this country that talked about sex, the jails would be running over. Do you remember saying that?

I might have said that.

Uh huh. And I said, mama, that's not. And then it dawned on me what she was saying. I said, what are you talking about? You said, todd, all they got on him is that oral sex. Talking about sex. And I realized at that point you thought oral meant speaking. Do you remember that?

Yeah, but I, you know, and I'm stupid, I was dumb. But.

[Todd]

And I said, I said, mama. And then said, todd, shut up. I said, I will not let my mother be this ignorant. That is not what that means. Oral sex is when a man puts his mouth on a woman's lily. Because that's what you like to hear. You don't like the V word, said,

But folks, we started out and going to have some thick biscuits that day, we ended up with crackers because that rolling pin got an extra gear. And she got to rolling 90 miles an hour. And she looked up at Julie at that sink and she said, julie, if Todd ever tries to make you do such as that you call the law on him. Do you remember that?

I don't know.

You was trying to get in my marriage then and make it work, make it bad.

[Nanny Faye]

Shut up, Todd. I don't talk about that. Let's move on to something good.

And I have followed him throughout his time and when he came down that Escalade escalator, I'm going to vote for it. Escalators of never have even registered to vote, folks.

That is the truth.

Never. You always say, you know, you voting for one crook for another crook. So I never.

You feel like these crooks on the Democrat and the Republican.

That's why I never voted.

first I said, thank you, dear Jesus, for what you have done. I thank Savannah and I thank Trump, because without them three working together, it would have never happened. But I never gave up faith. Because you know what? What goes in the dark comes to light. And when you're wrong. I read all the time. I did yesterday read one to you. Had been in prison since he was 15 and now he's 82 and they let him go.

Whole life and he's been exonerate.

[Nanny Faye]

Yes. And just overlooked. He went there as a juvenile, doing hardly anything wrong. But look at him now. My heart goes out to people. People that's never been touched by it don't really know what goes on. I read a lot, so I see a lot. And it breaks my heart to see people that's just thrown away and nobody sees about them, nobody cares about them. I thought about that man last night when I was laying in my bed thinking about life in general and how blessed we are now. People think I've had a silver spoon in my mouth all my life. That's not true.

Well, you have. You really. Because, mom, you really have not been a hard. You have not had to work hard.

[Nanny Faye]

I did. Growing up, I picked cotton, pulled sugar cane.

[Todd]

You did it all.

[Nanny Faye]

I have done it all. Yes, but look at little old Savannah has cried because Nanny, what did you want growing up? She never got. I said, savannah, I didn't know to want anything. I had a great life, a good Christian home. No drinking, no cursing, no fighting. Never. I never heard my grandma.

[Todd]

You never had a harsh word between your parents?

[Nanny Faye]

No, my grandparents. I never even heard my grandmama ever holler at my grandpa or my grandpa ever hollered her. They raised 14 children. You know. We all did well, right?

[Todd]

Yes, you all have done very well. And I don't think a lot of people realize that. That now. There were how many girls?

[Nanny Faye]

Well, it was just three boys. Count my brother.

[Todd]

So then there was 11 girls. I mean, 11 girls and three boys. And just about all of your sisters became multimillionaires.

[Nanny Faye]

They was. All my family said that too. Or three died Millionaires.

[Todd]

Right. And that's because of the hard work.

[Nanny Faye]

We have good work ethics.

[Todd]

Right.

[Nanny Faye]

Mama always said, had a dream. If you don't have a dream and something to work for, you're nothing. You have to get up and look for something. Look for something good. Be thankful for what you have. Don't worry about things you don't have.

[Todd]

Right.

[Nanny Faye]

So all we had was a Sears and Roebuck catalog and I'd look at it. And I'd say, mom, you think you could make me this? Let me see. I'd show her that picture of her dress or something and when it rained she would make it onetto petal machine, right? She made me the last dress she ever made me when I was about in the 10th grade. Sailor dresses was real popular back then and I found one in the Sears and Roebuck catalog about that thick. And I said, mama, you think you can make me that? She said, yeah, I can make that. She made it.

[Todd]

And so you have. Those are wonderful memories that you have even though your life was hard.

[Nanny Faye]

But I didn't know it was hard because that's what we did.

[Todd]

Because it was your normal.

[Nanny Faye]

Yeah, it was hard.

[Todd]

Your hard was your normal. Normal, right.

[Nanny Faye]

Like I told you, she said, there's three things we're going to do. You're going to mind me. You going to work, you going to go to school, you going to go to church. So long as we do those. We were good, right? So we didn't know no difference. We got up at 4:30, went to the barn. I was probably 5 or 6 years old, going to the barn, milking cows, washing the cows. Tits while they milked cows. I grew up. I milked till I graduated from high school.

[Todd]

Well, I tell you that that literally trickled down to your sons because I've washed a lot of tits too.

[Nanny Faye]

Yeah, but not work. We sold.

[Todd]

Some of it was work.

[Nanny Faye]

We sold milk to the Borden's Milk Company. We had to put them in them big old silver cans and push them

[Todd]

up to the road for them to pick up.

[Nanny Faye]

Pick up. And then when we got off the school bus, we had to bring them back to.

[Todd]

And you know, back then you'd have to worry about somebody coming and putting poison in the. In the canisters. We didn't know stuff like that.

[Nanny Faye]

It wasn't no meanness.

[Todd]

Our country has just gone to hell when it comes to stuff like that.

[Nanny Faye]

No, we didn't even know any bad things. That's why I said I had a good life. I didn't even know I had a bad life. I never moved to the day I married. And I didn't have. I didn't come in with nothing. We washed our clothes on no wringer washing machine twice a week, hung them out. And boy, we'd go to bed at night and smell those good sheets. They smelled so good. But we didn't know to want anything. That's what I told Savannah.

But don't you think that the reason that your life was. That was, in your own words, good? The reason your life was good is because you didn't have expectations, because you were not outside of that to see things that you were missing out on or that you. That maybe not missing out on, but that you didn't have?

Well, I don't know. See, I went to California from the time I was about 11 or 12. During the summer, I'd go to Michigan. I'd go to Maryland. So I seen the outside world. It wasn't like I was, you know.

But when was the first time that you did Playbook going?

Well, he didn't ask me until he was late in life, so I haven't. I didn't do it early in life.

[Todd]

Listen, I've been cooking my whole life, and I love just country cooking because that's what I was raised on, and I still love the things that I grew up eating.

Well, I love some creamed corn and a tomato and some fried okra and homemade biscuits. That's one of my favorite meals. And in the fall, I love turnip greens and collards and cornbread and spare ribs.

I do, every day.

Do you have to pay taxes on hair that big?

No. If I did, I wouldn't have enough money to pay for it.
