📖 Different Functions of the Bible | Solid Ground God has given us a great heritage — our divine inheritance is the Word and the Spirit. Through them, we are led into the daily experience and enjoyment of Christ. The Bible is not just a book of knowledge. It functions in many living ways in our Christian life: • The Word gives us life • That life nourishes us and causes us to grow • It separates us from the world and saturates us with God Himself • It shines on us, showing us who we are, who God is, and what is on His heart • Finally, it becomes the sword within us to deal with the enemy To have a proper and solid experience of Christ, we need both the Word and the Spirit. These two can never be separated. Together, they make our experience of Christ real, practical, and living. Through the Bible, God speaks and communicates to us. God speaks Bible. God desires to communicate Himself to man. His Word is living, powerful, and able to accomplish what it is after — to keep our ways pure and to transform us from within. But for the Word to profit us, something must happen on our side. “All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16) The Word is God’s breath. When we come to the Word, we are breathing God in and exhaling ourselves out. We must learn to interact with the Word in an organic way — not just reading for information, but coming to enjoy and even eat God. We chew on the Word to get to the Spirit, because the Spirit gives life. The Word is capable. The Spirit gives life. Our part is to exercise — to come with an open heart and receive. Let’s come to the Word not just to read — but to breathe, to eat, and to be transformed. 📖 The Divine Romance & The Corporate Building of God This week we are going deeper into what is on God’s heart — His desire. Throughout the entire Scripture, there is a clear, concise, coherent line. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible reveals one central theme: the divine romance and the corporate building of God. There may be many stories, laws, and events that don’t seem related to the theme at first — but they form the background that helps us see the diamond, the gem of the Bible, more clearly. When we read the Word, we begin to realize that what we are reading can, should and will become our own experience, even our destiny. The Bible is not just a book of teachings. It is the book that brings the reader into the story. We are literally being brought into the story of God. So when we read the Scriptures with an open heart, we are not only brought into the experiences recorded there — we are brought into the destiny revealed there. As we take time to love the Lord and be built into His church, that destiny becomes our destiny. Reading our Bible is not a checklist. If our heart is open to the Lord, we begin to enter into the very thing God is doing on the earth today. Let’s enter into the story personally. 📖 The Story of God in the Bible The Bible is an entire collection — 66 books, written by 40 authors, spanning more than 2,000 years. The writers included poets, kings, theologians, shepherds, fishermen — all kinds of people. Yet in all these stories and collections, it tells one story — the story of God. Before time and space, before science, there was a story — and in that story is the Triune God. He set this story in motion, and since eternity past, we have been part of it. When you read the Bible, you see three main things: • Who God is • What God wants • What God is doing in the universe God tells His story in our story. From Genesis to Revelation, we see two great matters: image and dominion (Gen. 1:26). We are made to express God and to represent God. Our destiny is to reign with Him — in this age and for eternity. Let’s live out God’s story — and let’s finish it. When we come to the Bible, it’s easy to focus on information, history, or knowledge — but the proper way to experience God’s Word is to eat it. 🍞📖 What sets the Bible apart from any other book is God’s intention to give us life. When we open the Scriptures, we don’t just study them — we take them in. In this continuation of "Why the Bible?" series, we see that the main function of the Bible is to be our spiritual food. When we come to the Word with the right “glasses” — the Jesus glasses — His Words become spirit and life to us (John 6:63). As we turn our heart to the Lord and open the four layers of our being, God has a way to come in and feed our inner man. May we learn to treasure His words more than our appointed food and ask ourselves daily: Have I eaten God’s Word today? Why the Bible? — How We Got the Bible 📍Solid Ground | Christian Students on Campus (CSOC) When we open the Bible, we’re not just opening an ancient book — we’re opening ourselves to the living and operative Word of God (Hebrews 4:12). Through this living Word, many of us were regenerated, renewed inwardly, and transformed — our life and even our destiny changed. But where did the Bible come from, and how can we trust that what we read today is what was originally written? For nearly 2,000 years, countless people have come to the Bible and found more than words on a page. As they touched the Word, they touched Spirit and they touched life. Yet behind this spiritual richness is a rich and reliable history — scrolls, parchments, manuscripts, and faithful transmission through the centuries — giving us strong confidence that the Bible in our hands today is trustworthy. 📘 In this message we cover: * The early dating and geographical distribution of biblical manuscripts * The quantity and consistency of copies over time * How history confirms the reliability of the biblical text Many believers read the Bible without knowing any of this history — because the reality of God does not depend on manuscripts. Still, the thousands of preserved copies testify that the Bible has been copied again and again because it resonates with the human heart and continues to speak life.
