The film isn't drawing attention to it, but virtually every character within the film exists in a state of marginalization.
When Evil Lurks has conviction. It trusts what it's doing, and it trusts you'll understand it.
It's not as vicious as Terrifier 2, but the violence here is pretty nuts.
