I truly do believe that you can have a presence driven, spirit empowered ministry that is also growing, also reaching the lost, also building generations and helping families that is both has a supernatural touch of God on it and has the wisdom of God and the simplicity of teaching people just how to live their life. Today we're going to learn all about that. Well, hey, welcome to the Jabe and Chavez Leadership Podcast. I am so fired up to be with you today. Remember, we're dropping a new podcast every Wednesday, every Sunday. We're live streaming our service every Sunday night, New sermon Wednesday, podcast Friday, worship drop. So we're just trying to give you a lot of content here on the City Light Vegas page. Make sure you're liking subscribing, doing all those things. And hey, if this podcast is a blessing, share it with a friend, friend, share it with your teams, throw it in your Instagram story, whatever. I think that would really help us as we're just trying to get the word out to more leaders. Because I believe that if we can help leaders and serve leaders, we're ultimately helping churches and organizations grow. I'm going to show you an interesting little passage of scripture. In Second Kings, there is a woman who is building a room for the prophet. Remember, the prophet is literally the presence of God and the voice of God in the earth. The prophet in the Old Testament really represented God. They, they were the man of God in the, in the earth. And so she builds a room for the man of God. But I want you to realize that this is a room that we should be building for the spirit of God in our ministries. She builds a room. This is Second Kings, chapter 4, verse 9. And she said, I know this is a holy man of God. Let's build a small room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair and a lamp. He will have a place to stay whenever he comes by. And I want to talk about building a spirit empowered room for God. I want you to think of our churches as the room. And I want you to think about a place where the Holy Spirit would feel welcome, would feel honored, would love to come. A place that he could stop by, a place that he could abide and reside and move in our lives. The Bible says that there were these four ingredients, these four pieces of furniture in the room. There was first of all a room. And we could focus in on that. We could talk about how it was up high. It's an upper room. We could talk about the upper room in Acts 2. We could talk about the upper room where Jesus would meet with his disciples and have the Last Supper. There, you know, there's just so much to preach here. But there was a bed, there was a lamp, there was a chair, and there was a table. And I want to talk about those today and about how those four things must be in your ministry. And the first is a bed, and the bed represents rest. You cannot expect a move of God in a hurried atmosphere. I'm going to say that again. You cannot expect a move of God in a hurried atmosphere. If you are hurried and if you feel rushed and if you're just trying to get through, don't expect the Holy Spirit to feel welcome. Now, I understand multiple services. I have to do five on the weekend. I understand that I can't do five services that are all two hours long. I can't. I'm not saying you can't. I, I'm saying I can't. I can't do that. I can't preach for an hour five times on the weekend. I understand that. But what I am saying is that even if you are in a time constraint, even if you are in that hour and 15 minute window, you need to make sure that you are creating a system and a, a, you are building a bed where there can be moments of rest, reflection, prayer, listening. Holy Spirit, what are you doing? Where? Where? Yes, I know there's a planning center. And I, and yes, I understand that there's a thing that we're trying to get through, but we cannot be in a hurry when we are expecting a move of God. There, there has to be mo. Even in between the songs. You know, I, we play with tracks, we play with clicks. I'm not against it, I actually love it. But at the same time, make sure that your worship leader is not completely at the mercy of the md. Because a lot of time now it isn't true for us because our MD is our worship director and he's amazing. But a lot of times these MDs, man, they feel like they run the show. You have to decide, Pastor, does the MD have the say on the stage or does the worship leader who has the ministry gift have the say? I think that's a really big thing because the md, a lot of times they'll just hit, they'll just hit play and go. And it's like, does the worship leader have the flexibility to go, I want to sing that again or I want to do this again or, or I want to, I don't want to go to the next song yet. I think we're supposed to breathe here. There has to be moments where that can even happen. Moments in your sermon, if you've got 35 minutes, you got 35 minutes. But make sure in that 35 minutes, there' some time. There's a seven to 10 minute window of linger and Holy Spirit. What are you doing? And where are we going with this? I'm just telling you, if there's going to be a move of God in your, in your messages and in your services, there has to be times of rest. I'm plugging in my laptop as I'm recording this. I'm crazy, but I just, I had to do it because my computer was going to die. It's amazing. I was charging my phone. Don't you love my podcast? It's so professional. So there, there has to be rest. I want to even say for your church staff, there has to be rest. There has to be moment. When I talk about rest, I don't just mean a day off. I mean moments of prayer, moments of reflection for your staff, moments of prayer, moments of fasting, moments of laying on of hands, moments of impartation. There, there. And there has to be moments where we're not in a hurry and we're not on a clock. We're at rest. The, the prophet had to feel at rest. Remember that the miracle happened. He's sitting on the bed. And then when the boy, eventually the woman has a baby and then eventually the boy dies. Where does the miracle happen of resurrection happens? On the bed. There's something about rest and there's something about ease. And like my best friend in the world, David hall, he gave me a compliment this week and I'm going to share it with you. And I don't, you know, I don't share all my compliments and I'm not, I'm not trying to brag on myself, but he said, jabin, you know how to lead a meeting and move a meeting without volume. There is a big difference between grabbing a mic and just. And having a moment to capture the temperature of the meeting. Rest. Another thing was she had a lamp in there. That's light. That's revelation. That is asking for the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual gifts, speaking in tongues, prophecy, moments of spiritual illumination, revelation, touch of God. There has to be that in your service in some way and especially in your life where you're not just blowing through the text, where you're not just asking chatgpt for a sermon, where you're not just, okay, well, this is what the, you know, this is what the theologians say. So I'm just going to blow through it. I understand that. I'm not saying make up revelations, but I am saying what is. What is God telling you to preach? Is there a burden on you? Is there a. Is there an angst in your spirit? Is there moments of revelation and moments of God speaking and moments of God touching? We must go beyond information to transformation. We should not just be informational ministries, we must be transformational ministries. So there must be light. The candle of the Lord grew dim when there was judgment on Eli's house. Right? What did Jesus tell the church in revelation? I'm going to snuff out your candle right where God is not welcome. The lights go out. I think that represents a lot of things, but one of the things is man. God just stopped speaking. There's no more revelation. You got to keep the light on. You've got to keep your ears open. And I'm just going to tell you something, Pastor, if you want to consistently hear from God, or I'm even just not even going to say that if you want to hear from God, you must have consistent, extended times of prayer. Fasting. The word prayer is not you just talking to God. It's also God talking to you. Prayer, fasting and the Word. And you must be consistent in that. That's how you keep the lights on in your ministry. You are never at the mercy of planning center and you are never at the mercy of the media guy going, I need slides for the screens. You are never at the mercy of the screenshot you have. You've got to get past that and you've got to start getting into a flow state and you've got to start getting into a light state. And you've got to start getting into a revelation state. You got to keep the lights on. She had a light form and then there was a chair. I think the chair represents praise. He is inhabited. He inhabits. Excuse me. He inhabits the praises of his people. Psalm 22. There is a. There is a sitting down of the presence of God. He is enthroned on the praises of his people. That's literally what that means. Inhabits are enthroned. He sits down on a throne on a chair in the praises of his people. I want to talk about praise and worship really quick for pastors. I go to so many churches, I travel a lot. And you'll have a 20, 30 minute praise and worship set that never praised and never even worshiped. It's all songs about a move of God and We need revival. And come Holy Spirit. They're all songs of prayer. They're all songs of intercession. They're beautiful. They're wonderful. But what happened to praise and worship? What happened to I praise you, O Rock and my redeemer? What happened to I worship you, almighty God? What happened to let the shout of the King be among them to that? What happened to I love you, Jesus? Don't. Don't turn your praise and worship sets into these prayer sessions, crying out for revival for 30 minutes. What about just worship? What about praise? He inhabits the praises of his people. Worship the Lord in the beauty of his holiness. You want a move of God worship? You want. You want to move of God praise? And another thing, Pastors, why are we starting worship sessions off? Why are we starting services off with a slow song, man? Get people clapping, get people moving, get people smiling, get people knowing God is good. Get some upbeat music going on. Before we get into that slower worship stuff, I would tell any senior pastor listening to me, you need to get back involved in the set. Listen, listen to me. Let me say that one more time, Pastor. You got to get back involved in the set list. And you should know, not only know, you should be picking the song that is going to be sung right before you preach so that you can get in that flow. And you know, okay, I'm preaching on this, man. I want this song, man. This song, man. That's not a good song to end with. I'm telling you, your worship leaders, they don't always know how to build for a moment. And remember, what we're doing in worship is we are preparing the soil for the seed of the word of God so that when the seed goes out, it can actually fall on 30, 60, and a hundredfold, that it can actually produce something, that it can actually be good ground. And so I think we need to get more meticulous about our set list. I think we need to get more careful about them. I think we need to be singing about the name of Jesus. I think we need to be careful of just these weird downer prayer sets. And I think. I think we need. I think we need to be careful about lyrics that are real feminine. If we want to reach men, I think we just got to be careful about singing songs about sitting at the feet of Jesus and washing his feet with our hair. I'm just not singing stuff like that. I'm just not. I'm trying to reach men in my church. I'm not. I'm not talking about unforeseen kisses or sloppy wet kisses. I ain't talking about that beautiful song, but I. I ain't doing that at my church because I'm actually trying to reach men who. Their wives are dragging them in, their girlfriends are dragging them in, their fiances are dragging them, and when they come in, I ain't talking about kissing God. All right, we go. Oh, my goodness. So. So we got to build that chair. And then the third is the table. And what is the table? The table is communion. The table is receiving of the Lord. And there must be moments of communion. There must be moments of divine presence. There must be moments of touch of God. There must be moments of. Of repentance. And there must be moments of having moments to turn to the Lord. There has to be moments of eating and receiving, moments of calling upon the elders to anoint with oil, moments of eating his flesh and drinking his blood, moments of dedication and saying yes to Jesus, moments of ministry, moments of healing, moments of repentance and confession. Think about all that the communion table represents. Moments of remembering the Lord and then receiving of his finished work. And if you will. If you will begin to get very committed to these things in your church staff, in your serve teams, and then in your. In your church services, there is a flow that will start to break out in your services. I'm telling you, anointed atmospheres are not by accident. They are prepared. We're going to build them a room, but we're also going to put a bed. We're also going to put a light. We're also going to put a table. We're also going to put a chair. We're going to sake. We're going to build it up. There's gonna. There's gonna be a stairway up to it. There's. It's all thoughtful. We think of revival. We think of moves of God as just this random thing that maybe by chance happens. And I just want to say I don't think it happens that way. I can honestly say that what's happening at City Light right now is a move of the Holy Spirit. And it's not by accident. We're so intentional about trying to create a space in a place that God feels welcome. I'm just telling you, commit to these things. And people are getting saved and families are getting restored, and we're not goofy. I don't even. I don't even go by the label charismatic anymore. I won't even. I won't even take that label on. Don't call me a charismatic. I ain't a charismatic, they're wacky. I'm just a Bible believing Christian. I believe that what happened in the New Testament still happening today. But I'm done with all that. Amen. We are seeing people by the droves, not just come to our church. They're being moved on by the Holy Ghost and they're being impacted and they're being filled with the Spirit and they're receiving touches from God and they're being healed and saved and delivered and discipled and baptized. Friend, we can do this the right way. But I can't fall into the ditch of seeker sensitive and I can't fall into the ditch of Charismania. There is a middle ground that is radically committed to winning souls and radically committed to the presence of God. And I'm not falling in either ditch. I'm staying right there. And God's honoring. God will honor it in your ministry as well. I love you so much. Much. And I can't wait till the next time we're together. God bless you guys. We'll see you soon.

Host: Jabin Chavez
Episode: Presence Driven Ministry | Jabin Chavez Leadership Podcast
Date: March 25, 2026
In this episode, Pastor Jabin Chavez explores the concept of a "presence driven, Spirit-empowered ministry"—one that values both the supernatural touch of God and the practical wisdom needed for church growth, outreach, and generational impact. Drawing from 2 Kings 4 and the story of the Shunammite woman’s room for the prophet, Jabin unpacks four essential "ingredients" for cultivating an environment where the Holy Spirit is welcome and active in modern church life. He emphasizes intentionality, balance between supernatural and practical elements, and the importance of thoughtful leadership in ministry.

Pastor Jabin Chavez concludes with encouragement for leaders to intentionally embrace the four "ingredients"—rest, revelation, praise, and communion—both in personal life and in church culture. Doing so helps create a presence-driven ministry marked by lasting fruit, supernatural encounters, and healthy church growth. The episode is a challenge to avoid extremes and seek the dynamic balance where the Spirit of God moves freely and consistently.
