Discussions, ideas, commentary, interviews, etc., all dealing with ways of finding bits of success throughout life and try to apply it to the areas we need. We all have different forms of success and we all need the tools to help us do just that in our lives. Remember - Success is in the journey, the continual process.

“Send Coach John a message”Another legend comes to the front of the class to share some invaluable lessons about life. You know what?? These are simple lessons too, but I’m just talking about me here - they are not easy to keep remembering. I’ve always had trouble paying attention. It’s one of many things that Jim Rohn helps me and all of us remember to work through. The clip comes from Jim Rohn Official (@OfficialJimRohn) - “Growth isn’t always about grinding harder. Sometimes, it’s just about watching more closely. Jim Rohn believed that success leaves clues, and the people who progress fastest are the ones learning from the wins of others. Look at what’s working around you. Ask questions. Study outcomes. The better you observe, the more you learn what to repeat and what to release.” He’s one that helps leave clues for all of us as we all navigate this journey of life. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I came across a short clip from a legend that has always been a difference-maker for others. He’s done it through the great game of basketball, but his lessons are all about success in life. The lessons from Coach K are shared by Coach AJ / Mental Fitness (@coachajkings). “Coach K shares what it actually takes to get better. "In order to get better, you change limits." "When you change limits, you're going to look bad and you're going to fail." Growth requires pushing past what's comfortable. And that means you're going to stumble. You're going to look like you don't know what you're doing. That's not a sign you're on the wrong path - it's proof you're on the right one. Coach K would always emphasize: Failure isn't a destination. It's a checkpoint. It takes grit to keep going. Courage to try again. And the willingness to endure when it would be easier to quit. The only way to expand your limits is to test them.” (The audio clip comes from Bloomberg) What an amazing reminder and any time we can pick up lessons from successful people, we need to pay attention. My next podcast episode will have some more information on the importance of paying attention. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I saw a gentle and small reminder that I think we all take for granted a lot during life. It comes from Alan Stein, Jr. (@AlanSteinJr) who is the author of a couple of great books that I read and I think it would be great if you connected with both of them at some point - “Raise Your Game” and “Sustain Your Game”. His quote is this: “One decision can change the course of your entire life. The power to choose is our greatest gift.” I’ve heard that a few times that our greatest gift we have (and it could be one of a few), is that of choice. I think it’s worth it for us to keep working on our choices in life. It’s our thinking. Our actions. Our habits. Our words. There’s many things that we get to choose throughout life. One thing for sure I know I can keep getting better with the choices I make AND I know I need to do that for sure. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found this from Kylie Riordan (@mindfulheal) because it made total sense to me as I have been thinking about this a lot more lately. What she shared was this: “I hope you have a random moment today where you look around and think “Oh. This is my life.” And instead of spiraling, you smile. Because maybe it’s not perfect. But it’s yours.” As I prepped for this podcast along with the errands and other things I had to do this morning, I got a message from one of my good friends Jodie. This topic has come up for both of us in recent weeks. She shared how she felt a bit “giddy” with one aspect of what she’s been going through. I was reminded that we also need to do things / recognize things that make us feel that way a bit more often. I know I need to take more intentful moments to remind myself how proud and “giddy” I am about “Oh, this is my life.” Maybe you can find those moments too. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”It’s always awesome finding so many things that speak directly to my heart. It’s like Clint Hurdle (@ClintHurdle13) knew this advice he was sharing, was something that I needed to connect with. He shares this thought from his book: “Hurdle-isms for having a high standard. #17) “Lower the bar and you lose the winners; raise the bar and you lose the losers.” Now I know I need to raise the bar simply to tell (and show) myself that I can (and need to) get rid of the “loser” versions of my previous selves along with their excuses, habits, self-talk, etc. The other one was #18) “We don’t have time to have “just another day.” I am seeing this more and more as I get older. I knew about this truth when I was younger, but I for sure didn’t think about it too often and it did not really add any reasons for me to do things that I knew I needed to do. I need to do things. Now! How about you? Any thoughts for the person staring back at you in the mirror about these two “hurdle-sims”? Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a couple of gems this morning, both coming from Gary Vaynerchuk (@garyvee). The first is a short video clip where he is having a conversation with a young kid and her mom, reminding the kid that she is capable of learning to do things to help herself out with her Youtube channel editing. The simplicity of reminding her (and us) that we learned how to do things as a young child and that we are capable to keep learning new things, no matter how old we are. That leads into the second post I saw from Gary - “Seriously, so many of you in your 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s have hunger to go for more but think you have to “wrap it up” because of your age - that’s just not true.” Amazing reminders from a guy that just keeps putting kindness, compassion, authenticity, passion and tons of other life examples out there for us to connect with and learn from. The ideas and lessons are out there my friends - it’s up to each of us to decide where and how we implement them into our lives! Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I’m not sure why lessons from rivers have been a thing lately, but Bob Starkey (@CoachBobStarkey) had a post that deals with both persistence and resilience thoughts all from what a river does all the time. “A river only breaks through rock because it shows up everyday.” Just keep showing up like a river and go around, over, through, under, etc., the “rocks” that we face every day. Just don’t quit. Sounds easy, but we know it’s not. Amazing lessons to pick up from nature once again that we can use for sure. Many things that we have to get through are not even as tough as a rock is. Remember, over time that river will wear down the rock, even break the rock into pieces. What we have to face may seem impossible, but we need to also remember we don’t have thousands of years either. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I came across my buddy John O’Leary’s post on Facebook and it really made a strong connection with me. I think it’s something that all of us need to be reminded about. This passage from what I shared with you says it all: “So today, if someone in your life is hurting, don’t worry about finding the perfect words. Just be there for them with a phone call, a handwritten note, your presence or a simple hug. Because sometimes the greatest gift we can offer someone who is struggling isn’t an answer, but the reminder they do not have to suffer alone.” We all have someone we can reach out to. In fact, I am doing that now to a couple of people even before I finish putting this podcast out there. Also, don’t forget to reach out to someone to let them know that maybe you could use a few minutes of their time to talk if you need some help too. Life works out a lot better when we are in it together. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”From POSITIVITY (@PositivitySaid) - Reminded us that we should “Never forget - it’s a luxury to have zero health problems.” I chuckled at this a bit as I have plenty, but I still view my life as full of so many things that I’m grateful for. Actually my health issues (not often enough), help me to realize that I have a great life - IN SPITE of my challenges. I also realize that nobody, not one single human being has zero problems. There are many different types of problems that all humans have to deal with in life, but I would say that (and I’ve heard it said before), our health is the most valuable thing to have in life. We only get one shot at life and something like this sure does help us to understand that. Don’t forget to look at the “other” luxuries you have in life too. Thanks for listening. “Send Coach John a message”I found a great reminder and it’s really easy to picture this in my mind. It comes from Mindful Maven (@mindfulmaven_) where this true reminder is shared: “Rivers never go in reverse. So try to live like a river. Forget your past and focus on your future. Always be positive.” Powerful picture for us to follow. It helps me to remember that like water in a river, life is always moving forward. We can’t go backwards…. Only in our minds can we do that. The lessons we carry are HUGE for learning and growing. They help us to keep moving forward in life. Thanks for listening.
