Welcome to the Crazy Love Podcast. Why do so many of us feel powerless when God says we're not? The Bible says there's an immeasurable greatness of power at work in those who believe. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead. So why aren't we experiencing it today? Francis shares what it means to live as the body of Christ, where every part matters and real power is found together.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Good morning.
Francis
My name is Francis. I just want to. I want to lift up the name of God. Okay. I just want us to remember what we're celebrating here. We're here because we don't believe that we're alone. Okay? Right now, what you see here is not all that's here. We believe that there's a God in heaven who actually is keeping us breathing right now. You don't have control over your life. I don't have control over my next breath. He has to give that to me. And there is a God up there who knows everything about me. There are so many secrets in this gathering, things that no one else knows about us. But we believe there's a God in heaven who knows every single detail of our lives.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And he's the one who we have
Francis
to stand before at the end of our lives. He's the judge. He's the creator.
Co-host or Speaker 1
He's the king.
Francis
He's the judge. But what's fascinating is the Bible says
Co-host or Speaker 1
that he so loves us.
Francis
Like, he.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I mean, I don't know who you love. You know, some of you may be in love with your wife, your husband. You may be obsessed with your children, whatever that love and that level is. I'm telling you right now, God in heaven is more obsessed with me than
Francis
you are about anyone in your life.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And when you believe that and understand that and you go, are you telling me the creator of all of the heavens and the earth has this desire to be one with me, that he made me in his image so that I could be one with Him? When you get that, then it's like everything else in life just kind of pales in comparison. And all the problems.
Francis
And I know some of us have
Co-host or Speaker 1
gone through some hard times this year already. And some of you are looking at your life and you're thinking, some of these things seem insurmountable. They're just too big, overwhelming.
Francis
And I'm telling you, when you understand the love that God has for you, there's this power in that.
Co-host or Speaker 1
The Bible says that he so loved you that even though he knows all the things that you have done, things that no One else on earth knows about
Francis
it, says he still loved you in the midst of that. And he demonstrated his love for you
Co-host or Speaker 1
that even while you were doing the things that he absolutely hated. It says he demonstrates his love for us. And he has Christ his son, take the form of a man, like empty himself from heaven, take the form of a man, and then one day be crucified on a cross to die for our sins. Because God is fair, he has to punish evil. And he says, rather than punishing you, I'm going to have my son take it for you. On the cross.
Francis
He died, he was buried. And then three days later he comes back to life. And suddenly everyone realized he really is the Son of God. He really did die for my sins. And the Bible says then he ascended up to heaven and he says, I'm not going to leave you alone there on the earth. I'm gonna send my spirit. I can actually put my spirit, the spirit of God in you to give you a power
Co-host or Speaker 1
to put to death all those addictions, all the sin, all the sin that he hates and you hate. He says, I can put an end to that. I'll give you power over that and I'll give you tremendous power. See, I celebrate today. I don't walk up here and go, oh, I'm so nervous, there's a crow.
Francis
I go, the resurrected Jesus is with me right now. You're not looking at just a human being right now. If I was just a human being, I'd be terrified.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I'd be working so hard to try
Francis
to get your attention or try to change your life. But I know there's a power in me. I've seen it my whole life, ever since I started believing in Jesus. And I'm going to be reading from this book, the Bible that people have been reading from for thousands of years. And the Bible says there are words here that are alive, they're living, they're active. It's not like my words when I read from this book. The Bible says that the word of God is living and active, sharper than a two edged sword.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And somehow it's able to pierce through like the very core of your being. And it somehow discerns the thoughts and intentions of your heart. There's no other book like it. So I just want to read from Ephesians chapter one. This is the passage.
Francis
As I prayed, I felt like God wanted me to share with you guys. Today
Co-host or Speaker 1
Paul is praying for this church and he says for this reason, because I've heard of your faith in the Lord. Jesus and your love towards all the saints, okay, very important, because I've heard of your faith. Okay, Paul, here he goes, this isn't very complicated. He goes, I just know, and I've heard that you believe in Jesus. You believe that Jesus died on that cross and he rose from the grave. And I hear that it's a real belief in you. It's not just something someone told you. It's in you. And he goes, and I've heard of your love towards all the saints. You gotta understand these two truths. Loving God and loving one another. He says, this sums up all the
Francis
law and the prophets.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Okay?
Francis
Sometimes we over complicate things in church.
Co-host or Speaker 1
We have all these rules, regulations, this, this, this, this, which, which is fine. But at the end of the day, it boils down to these things.
Francis
Do you love him with all your heart, soul, mind and strength? And do we love each other?
Co-host or Speaker 1
See, this is why we do church the way we do. This is rare that we all gather together. Okay?
Francis
Normally we gather in homes because we want to love each other like God called us to, like he commanded us to.
Co-host or Speaker 1
He goes, you were made to care
Francis
for one another, to love one another.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And so I used to preach at a giant church and I'm like, gosh, we don't care about each other, not to the degree that God commands us to. He says, this is my new command. Just as I've loved you. Watch how I love you. I would die for you. He goes, now I want you to do that to one another. And to me I'm going, that's the New Testament. And so how can we be a church if we don't care for one another? And so Paul's writing to the Ephesians. He goes, I've heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love
Francis
towards all the saints.
Co-host or Speaker 1
See, it's too easy to just gather in a gathering like this, where you just sit and face forward and, and then go home.
Francis
And God never asked for that. He says, I asked you to love me with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And I asked you to love your neighbor as yourself.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And this is how the world will know that you're my disciples. By the way that you love each other, the way you sacrifice for each other. And for some of us that have been around for a while, we have
Francis
this love, this depth. Kevin and Liz, I would do absolutely anything for you guys, and I believe
Co-host or Speaker 1
you would for me. Like, it's that type of family and love that God says, that's what I want in church. That's why we call ourselves we are Church.
Francis
Because it's not.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Church isn't a place you visit, it's who you are. I'm a part of this body. The question should never be asked where do you go to church? Church was not a place you went to.
Francis
God says, I want this to be a group of people who deeply love each other, who show the love of Christ by the way you care for each other.
Co-host or Speaker 1
When Jesus washed the disciples feet, he goes, this is what I want you
Francis
to do to each other. And Paul says, I've heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your
Co-host or Speaker 1
love towards all the saints. So I do not cease to give thanks for you remembering you in my prayers.
Francis
And here's what he prays.
Co-host or Speaker 1
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation
Francis
in the knowledge of him. This is what I've been praying for this morning. This is what I've been praying for you this week. I go, God, this morning, could you just give us the spirit of wisdom and revelation?
Co-host or Speaker 1
Because this is not about a guy up front giving a speech hoping you get it.
Francis
I go, God, I'm here for a deeper mystery. We're not alone this morning. And God says, I could actually get you to understand me just like that. I could have the Holy Spirit give you the wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.
Co-host or Speaker 1
So you can't teach someone how to know God.
Francis
I mean it's necessary to give the information. But the Bible says something supernatural happens and suddenly you get it. It's wisdom and revelation. And the next verse he says, having
Co-host or Speaker 1
the eyes of your hearts enlightened. Okay, what does that mean? That God could somehow enlighten the eyes of your heart. He's not talking about your physical eyes here. He says there's something about, in your soul there can be this enlightening, this awakening that. I mean, have you ever thought that your heart would have eyes? It's like the Bible says, you could be blinded to things. You don't get it. I could teach it over and over and over and it's like you've got these blinders on. He says, but God could supernaturally. And this is what I pray for. You know, we've all had friends where we're just begging them to know God and they don't get it. They don't get it, they don't get it. But then suddenly, boom,
Francis
suddenly their eyes are opened.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Maybe that was some of you. You rejected God for so much of your life and Then you remember there was a moment where it's like, gosh, this is what my parents told me about. This is what my friend was talking about all those years. For some reason.
Francis
I get it.
Co-host or Speaker 1
The Bible says He can enlighten the eyes of your heart, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called.
Francis
You
Co-host or Speaker 1
see, we're not just talking about information. I can tell you. I can tell you, hey, the Bible says that there's a place, there's a time at the end where he's going to wipe away every tear. There's no more sickness, there's no more death. And you're like, okay, okay, that's interesting information. I don't know if I believe it
Francis
or not, but the Bible says he can actually make you know this hope where in the core of your being, you're like, shoot me. I don't care. I don't fear death anymore. I know what I'm headed for. Like, I totally get what I have for all of eternity. That's what I'm praying for, that moment that no one else can do for you, where God opens your eyes and I actually believe he died on the cross, rose again, ascended to heaven, and is right now preparing a place for me that I could be with him and dwell with him forever.
Co-host or Speaker 1
That you may know what is the hope which he has called you? What are the riches of his glorious
Francis
inheritance in the saints?
Co-host or Speaker 1
Because I want you to be enlightened and understand what God's inheritance is. God's inheritance. Like that there's this amazing being in heaven, and he's going, I can't wait to inherit you. I can't wait to inherit those of you who are mine. Okay, this is fascinating. For those of us who grew up rejected, for those who grew up unloved, for those who sometimes just look around, go, does anyone care about me? To think that God in heaven actually looks at you as his inheritance, his glorious inheritance.
Francis
See, that's something that's miraculous. With all the things that have been said about you, those words that have stuck in your head, the negativity, the slander. To believe that God in heaven loves you and can't wait to inherit you. And to know that from the core of your being, that's the miracle we pray for here. But here's the verses. I really want you to focus on the next verse.
Co-host or Speaker 1
He says, what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe according to the working of his great might, that he worked in Christ when He raised him from the dead and
Francis
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places. These are the two verses I really wanted to focus on. Where Paul is saying, I'm praying that God would enlighten the eyes of your heart so that you may know
Co-host or Speaker 1
what
Francis
is the immeasurable greatness of power toward us. Who believes? He says.
Co-host or Speaker 1
It's similar, he says to the when Christ was dead, crucified, buried in a tomb, imagine the power it took. Imagine. Imagine seeing that dead body come to life and then ascend into heaven. Because that's an outrageous power. He goes, but what the Word of God says. And remember, when we gather as a church, we don't gather to listen to a person talk about the Word. We gather together to tremble at His Word. And what does His Word say? That there is immeasurable greatness. Think about these words. Immeasurable greatness of power toward us. Who believes?
Francis
One of the things I really struggle with in the American church today is how we can take a verse like this and make it okay to disbelieve this.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Do you believe today
Francis
that there's immeasurable greatness of power towards you? Who believe? When you think of yourself right now, do you think, immeasurable greatness of power that God has given me? Immeasurable greatness of power. That means I can do, he can do abundantly more than I could ask or imagine, according to the power at work within me.
Co-host or Speaker 1
See, for some reason in the church, we don't count this as a sin to disbelieve this. And it's okay to be insecure.
Francis
In fact.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Oh, that's so humble of you. You don't think you're very great. That's not humility. That's blasphemy. That's heresy. The Bible says if we are to tremble at what he says. Wait, so there's immeasurable greatness of power? Like I'm made to do something. I'm created for great things. I can't sit around, go, well, I'm just defeated by my sin. I'll never overcome this. Wait, you're lying. I mean, if that's you today, then just tell God. God, I don't believe this. I don't believe what you said in your Word, that there's immeasurable greatness of power towards me, that it's similar to the power that you took when you used. When you took Christ and raised him and ascended him far above all rule, authority, power and dominion.
Francis
And you say in your word, that type of power is in me. That's the resurrection Power we're talking about. Do you believe this?
Co-host or Speaker 1
Or has the enemy made you dwell on these voices saying you don't measure up?
Francis
There's nothing special about you because you're
Co-host or Speaker 1
denying the word of God. Don't let the enemy do that to you. I've been praying that the eyes of your heart would be. Look, all of us can look in the mirror, in the flesh and look at all of our faults, all. All of our failures, everything we ever screwed up in life and get depressed about ourselves. Or we can stare at God's word
Francis
and go, hey, yes, I get it. I screwed up. I was nothing.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I ruined my life. I hurt people.
Francis
I made a mess of things. But there's this immeasurable greatness of power in me now. And I can put to death any sin in my life. And I could have a tremendous impact on the people here. Not because there's anything great about me, but because he promised, there's this immeasurable greatness of power towards me because I believe. The next verse far above all rule, authority, power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And he put all things under his feet and gave Him Jesus as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all, in all. Okay, so what the church is supposed to be, what we are supposed to be, is. We're his body. Okay, this is why you can't go. Well, I'm such a loser. I'm not this, I'm not that. No, I'm a part of the body of Christ. I have the spirit of the living God dwelling inside of me. He promises immeasurable greatness of power towards me. And somehow together, when we work together at this, we are His Body, the
Francis
fullness of him, the fullness.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Like somehow, mysteriously, when we come together,
Francis
there's a fullness of power. And he comes as our head, and we join with our head, Jesus. And we are this united, loving body of people that all possess immeasurably great power to love one another, to bless one another. That's why in Ephesians 4, verse 16,
Co-host or Speaker 1
it says, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body
Francis
grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Okay, so he's saying the only way we're really going to grow is if every part of the body actually functions
Francis
like they were supposed to.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Where you actually believe?
Francis
I've been given an immeasurable greatness of power. But it's not just for me. Here's the thing. Some of you don't believe this about yourself.
Co-host or Speaker 1
You might believe it about me. You might believe it about someone else
Francis
in the church, okay? That guy is irreplaceable.
Co-host or Speaker 1
That girl has a wisdom that is irreplaceable. You may look at certain people and go, they are necessary to the church, but you don't believe it about yourself. You don't believe the scriptures for yourself. You look at some people in the church and go, oh, man, I'm so glad that. I'm so glad she exists. She is such a gift. And you believe that God's empowered her, but you don't believe it about yourself. But then there's others who believe it about themselves, but they don't believe it about others. They don't look at everyone here and go, oh, Allison is so necessary to this body. The lolly is so necessary to this body. You're just thinking about yourself, man, I've got this gift.
Francis
You need me.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I don't know what the church would do without me. The way I think, my wisdom, my thoughts. I mean, I post them, and a lot of people follow me. And you look at other people and you don't see the necessity for them, because you just see it in yourself.
Francis
I am praying that we become a church this year, that God could change everything instantaneously today, where all of us believe his word about us, that there's this immeasurable greatness, and I'm a necessary part of this body.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I believe the reason why some of you have not experienced the power of God in your life is because you think it's just for you. You don't recognize that God wasn't looking for Christians. He was looking for a body. People joining together in love. In the Old Testament, he was not looking for Israelites. He was looking for evangelicals. Israel, to live like a nation.
Francis
That was different.
Co-host or Speaker 1
It was a group of people. And that's what he says in Peter. I want this people for my own possession. Once you were individuals, but he goes, now you're a part of a body.
Francis
Do you believe that about yourself? I brought something this morning. Pretty awesome. I don't know if you can see this. It's a liver. Yeah.
Co-host or Speaker 1
Very good.
Francis
How did you know that? I wouldn't have known that I have a liver here. It's cool, huh? You guys all knew I would be bringing one.
Co-host or Speaker 1
But isn't this awesome? No, it's not. Not when it's just sitting out like this. See? And this is what so many people do. They're like, look at me. I'm awesome. And we're like, you're gross. But if you were actually in the body, you would be awesome, man. You stick this in a cow. This is beef, you know, you stick it in a cow and it does what it does, and suddenly like, wow, that's awesome.
Francis
That's amazing. But off on your own, no one wants to look at you.
Co-host or Speaker 1
That's not what you were made for. Pretty soon you just start looking at everyone else. Everyone's different from you. And you start judging them, they start judgin, that's not the way it was supposed to work.
Francis
It's like, this is so necessary.
Co-host or Speaker 1
But we got too many people who
Francis
just make excuses of why they can't be a part of the body. And we're going, wait, we need you in there.
Co-host or Speaker 1
We need you.
Francis
You're necessary.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I mean, I don't know what a liver does, but I know it's necessary. Someone tell me what a liver does. Filters. I did filters what? Stuff. Okay, it filters stuff. No, it's just. It's necessary. You die without the liver. You only have one liver, right?
Francis
And two kidneys.
Co-host or Speaker 1
One liver.
Francis
Okay, I knew that. You die without this.
Co-host or Speaker 1
And here's the thing is, okay, we're living up.
Francis
We're living in a very individualistic time where people just want to post their own thoughts, and I just want to have my own relationship with God. I just need me time. Imagine if the liver goes, I just want me time.
Co-host or Speaker 1
So I'm going to separate from the
Francis
body and just think about me. Besides, I'm kind of introverted. I don't want to be a part of a body. I'm insecure.
Co-host or Speaker 1
I have social anxiety.
Francis
So I'm just going to stay by myself. Well, when you do that, you're killing us. That's what the Bible says. God made you, empowered you to be a part of the body. And when you start loving each other, like I'm doing to you right now, I go, this is my part of the body. I'm like, the mouth. I talk. I'm like, whatever it is, I'm that part, and I want to use it to love you. And somehow, mysteriously, when I actually care about you, because I could come up here and just use some sort of gift of speaking to make a name for myself. But the Bible says when you actually love Sonya, when you actually love the people that you're speaking to, there's going to be a power in that. And in the same way, mysteriously, when we come together in love as a body and Christ, our resurrected head, comes and joins and is present with us, there's a power that you're never going to get by yourself. My prayer is that this year God just enlightens you and you realize there's nothing ordinary about you. In fact, you've been uniquely gifted and that we need you as a part of this body. And you probably act and think like no one else in this group and that's why we need you. It's like the uniqueness of the different parts of the body. You're not supposed to be like everyone else and that we would look at ourselves that way and then we start looking at each other. This is what keeps us from fighting, is when we realize, I actually need you to survive. We actually need all the parts working together to actually build ourselves up in love. And it's going to be different giftings for each of us, but all because we believe that Jesus died, was buried and rose again and said, I'm going to give you this spirit of wisdom and revelation so that you can know this immeasurable greatness of power towards you. It's one thing to say you believe that happened 2,000 years ago, but the Bible says the result of that as he ascended far above all rule, authority and power dominion, as he has power to empower us today, to cleanse us of our sin and to use us to love one another and actually have an impact on the community around us.

In this episode, Francis Chan explores the often-overlooked reality of the immense spiritual power available to believers in Christ. Drawing deeply from Ephesians 1, Chan challenges listeners to move beyond feelings of spiritual inadequacy and individualism, and instead embrace their essential role as members of the body of Christ. Through vivid biblical truths, personal illustrations, and a dose of humor, he calls the church to unity, sacrificial love, and a fresh expectation of God’s supernatural work within and among His people.
Faith in Jesus and Love for the Saints:
The Necessity of Genuine Community:
Wisdom and revelation come from God:
Supernatural grasp of hope and our identity:
Ephesians 1:18–21 as the centerpiece:
Challenging disbelief:
Every part is necessary:
The Liver Illustration:
Against individualism:
Francis Chan delivers a powerful exhortation: Believers are not meant to live in isolation or to identify with feelings of powerlessness. Instead, each person carries the "immeasurable greatness of His power"—the same Spirit that raised Jesus—meant to be expressed together in sacrificial love and unity as Christ’s body. When the church truly lives in this reality, God’s supernatural presence and power become evident not only for personal victory, but also for building up the whole community and making an impact for Christ in the world.
