On this Friday’s episode, Daniel converses with celebrated Irish casting director Maureen Hughes.

Maureen’s singular career in casting spans both film and theatre, and she’s been behind casting decisions for plenty of beloved properties, from Irish and international.

In 1990, Maureen became the head of casting at the Abbey Theatre Dublin, Over the years she has worked on beloved projects from Love/Hate, the Irish music film “Once” and the Cillian Murphy starrer “Small Things Like These”. She’s worked with incredible talents along the way, from writer Martin McDonagh, Cillian Murphy & Barry Keoghan.

On today’s episode, Maureen will share all she’s learned during her varied career, she’ll take listeners through her mindset and approach as a casting director and insights into casting talents like Cillian Murphy and Barry Keogan at the start of their careers.
