The playlist is back, but this time it's movie time! (All of that was in the title, what a goddamn pointless exercise this is) Dave and Dom have chosen 3 movies each that remind them of their relationship with their respective fathers and there is some real gold in there!

NeDom Genesis Daveangelion is back and the boys even recorded mid-week because they were so excited to keep talking about it!

What more is there to say? It's Austin Powers! On Daddy Issues!

Welcome to the weird world of Daddy Issues and NeDom Genesis Daveangelion! For an Episode 20 treat, our boys dive into one of anime's foundational texts and geek out over feeling depressed.

This is a BIG ONE! Dave and Dom dive into Shia LaBeouf's masterpiece Honey Boy... and then into Shia and the allegations against him. This is a Daddy Issues first for many reasons, and one of them is: "Honey Boy is undoubtedly an amazing movie. But can we enjoy it in good conscience?" Roundtable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibPkL... Jeff LeBeouf interview: https://gen.medium.com/shia-labeoufs-... Honey Boy / Even Stevens shots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mb2jB...

They've talked about The Mandalorian, they've discussed Road to Perdition, now it's time to follow The Assassin's Road, with Ogami Itto, the Baby Cart Assassin. In this episode, Dom & Dave explore Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima's foundational text and pay their respects to the late, great MF Doom (with a mini-playlist too!) We use and reference a few videos (that of course we don't own and are using in fair use context, and they're listed below!) HUGE SHOUT OUT TO aa aa's Rhyme's Highlighted videos. Also, Dom doesn't know how to pronounce RZA because he's only ever seen it written down and Dave's gonna make him feel it.

In Straight Outta Compton, the character of Ice Cube is played by the real-life Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jnr... a son... playing his father... that's the set up for this episode of Daddy Issues.

Fresh off meditating on the toilet, Dom calls Dave to spitball the thoughts that have been running through his head: The Force isn't a spiritual concept, it's a metafictional stand-in for money and narrative structure. And who is it that lusts for power and control over the continued revenues of the Star Wars franchise? Mickey frickin' Mouse.

On the previous episode of Daddy Issues, Dom made a BOLD CLAIM that the famous family themes that run throughout the original Star Wars trilogy are a lie! And that audience's assumptions that all Star Wars media must be family-related has created a narrative problem for the franchise. Dave was having NONE OF IT, and has brought in some back-up! Daddy Issues' first guest, Dom's dad.

The second part of the Daddy Issues conversation about The Mandalorian delves further into the father/son relationship in season 2. Will Dave find an emotional connection to these characters? Will Dom improve the overall story? Probably, it's amazing that Hollywood hasn't hired him yet, especially given how good he is at writing podcast descriptions.
