Foreign. Welcome to Dear Alice, a lifestyle approach to interior design.
B
Hi, everyone. Welcome to Dear Alice. Today we're going to be talking about our fall favorites.
A
I love fall. I do, too.
B
It is here. We're just like, right at the end of August. I. You know what? They're already selling the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies at the grocery store.
A
They really.
B
They are. They are.
A
I've never gone to that case.
B
It tastes like fall. When you see them, you're like, we're here.
C
Yes.
B
Here. The magic is beginning.
C
I always. I always wish my summer away, and I don't like that I do that, but I'm. But fall is definitely my favorite for multiple reasons, like obviously, weather, football, pump.
A
The brakes, all the stuff.
B
Like, let's just be really present in this perfect season.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
I always want it to last longer than it does because I feel like fall, especially in Utah, depending on when we get our first snow, it can be like a snap or. I don't know. I just love a long fall.
C
Yeah.
A
The most romantic season.
B
It is the most romantic season. Well, it's here. And so we thought, let's do a podcast and let's talk about all of our favorite fall tips, all of the fall design tips that we do around our house to just really bring in the season and the layers and just, just soak it in the smells. Yes. We're going to be giving you our favorite fall candles today. All of the tricks that we do as designers to just really, really embrace the season. So that's what today's podcast is about.
A
Before we hop into there, I just want to put a quick plug for our home furnishings design program. It is awesome. So we have a couple different departments here at Alice Lane. We have ALID that does whole homes, but if you just need furniture and you are like, at that moment where you're like, you. Okay, kids are back in school. We need to get ready for the holidays. Home furnishing design is for you because you don't have to make those decisions alone. We have trained designers, a whole team that will help lay out all of everything in your room, specifically the right size sectional, get everything, basically interview you what you love and the design for you. So if you want to get on their list, all you have to do is go to our website, alsanehome.com go to design service and fill out the home furnishings design, and they'll get back to you. And right now is such a good time to get on their list because they can be designing for you before our very best sale. Starts where you can get almost like 25% off. Yeah, a lot of things. So it's, it's such a good time to buy if you're ready to like finish a room.
B
This is like inside baseball that we're telling you guys this right now because it's a free program.
A
Yes. Thanks for telling me.
B
It's designers that are using AutoCAD. Where are you going to find those for free? And they're going to populate your rooms. They're going to choose all the fabrics and the finishes with you. And then when you go to buy it, it all just happens to be on sale. So there's not a better time of the year to actually do this and then to get these good deals on. Brand new furniture that you pick out and have custom made for you. Or maybe some things are in stock.
A
So it's nationwide.
B
Yes. So play the insider baseball. Take our tip on it. It's like, what is it? It's August 28th right now. And the very best sale starts, um, the second week of August. I mean the second week of September. So you have a couple weeks to get going on on this and really get that design dialed in. So we didn't want you to miss that tip.
C
Before we get into everything that's on the table, all this amazing stuff. Yeah. If you're, if you're watching. Yes, you should YouTube, Spotify, wherever, wherever you can watch should. Yeah. I love like seasonal movies. I don't know if you guys knew that about me. So I just want to know what are your guys favorite fall movies?
A
So glad you asked. Yeah, we may have had some Runway prep on this one.
C
That's awesome.
A
I also, because I'm like, I feel like during the summer we like push pause on some of our subscriptions just because we're like, we need to be outside. We need to like, the kids shouldn't be inside. And fall is when we renew everything. Everything goes back on and we start to like hibernate and we start to cuddle and make cocoa and cider and popcorn and we just watch all the movies. So I love this.
C
Yeah, that's my house for sure.
A
I know. So obviously there's like kids movies we can get into that as far as just like there's Coco and Hocus Pocus and all the Halloween ones. Because, Mike, I don't know about your kids, but they're already like, they've been talking about Halloween costumes for months. Oh yeah, they got out of school. So anyway, so we're very much into that. But Right now, I am, like, really excited. Remember the Titans?
C
Oh, yeah. Love that movie.
A
I feel like, very fall. Like Friday Night Lights. Remember the Titans.
B
Football. That's right. Football stars.
A
Football starts. There's something so magical when you smell the air and you start to, like, see that, like, homecoming's coming up for, like, all the high school students are like, we should go to a game.
C
Yeah. Like, we should go.
A
So anyway, so I love. I love all those movies and also the rom coms. Anyway, yeah. We're gonna put a list here for you of all of our favorite fall movies because they. That is also robust.
B
Help usher in the season and get you ready.
A
Do.
B
Yeah. And it's not too early, even though we're at the end of August. I mean, school started, so. Corey, what are your favorites?
C
I love Goodwill hunting.
A
Good.
C
Such.
A
Just so good.
C
Yeah. I mean, it's, like, inspiring, but also, like, you know, emotional, too.
B
I was going to say. Just try not to cry at the end when he gets on top of his desk.
C
Oh, man.
A
Impossible.
C
Yeah.
B
Captain. Oh, Captain.
C
No, that's talking dead poet. Also. Also amazing.
B
Yes.
C
Also on the list where Robin Williams is talking about his wife. I like Goosebumps and Good Will Hunting. I'm like, that makes me tear up every single time. So.
A
Love that movie.
C
Yeah. But you just.
B
Well, the obvious answer, of course, is, you've got mail.
C
It's the best.
B
I think we've all been holding off on trying to watch it till fall hits. I also just have, like, Gilmore Girls playing all weekend in the background. I won't even necessarily be watching it, but you'll hear little quips and different things going on. Me and my daughter Jane, when she was still in high school, watch that. And I don't know, it's just so, like, wholesome and sweet and funny and so that's just sort of always playing on repeat. Friday Night Lights, you mentioned, which is, you know, one of the greatest shows of all time. One Fine Day with George Clooney and.
C
I forgot about that movie. Yeah.
A
Dinosaur shirt with the blazer. Still remember it.
B
Sweet Home Alabama. I love that. Yeah.
A
So there's so many good ones. Also, I'm. Have you seen 100 Foot Journey? You all need to watch that. You all need to watch that. 100 Foot Journey is so, so good. It's Helen Mirren, and it's all. It's about food. It's in France. It's, like, about this Indian family. Anyway, it is like, one of my top, like, probably top 10 movies.
B
Okay.
A
Of all time. I Love it so much. It's beautiful.
B
Okay, I'm gonna watch that tonight.
A
Underfoot Journey, everyone. It's really, really good.
B
Thank you.
A
But we should put, like, a little thing out for you guys so you have, like, a to do list of all your movies you need to watch.
B
Yes.
A
Wait for that.
B
Amazing. Okay, let's get into it, shall we?
C
Let's do it.
A
Okay.
B
All right. So for us, we want to tell you how to. How to bring fall inside. I feel like this is Susan's number one tip whenever we talk about fall is. Go ahead, too.
A
So I love live branches. I love them all year round, but especially at fall, like, it is like prime time, especially in Utah, specifically because we have changing leaves and we have, like, really dominant seasons. And so I. Throughout the year, I always keep snips in my car because you just never know when you're going to come across a flowering tree or one that's just, like, I don't know, dusting the wind and the seeds or the pods are blooming or something. So I love foraging, and I think this is, like, the easiest thing for anyone to do to bring fall into their home. And it's in nature. It could be in your own yard, maybe your neighbor's yard. I don't know, but. Or just like, I even sometimes go up the canyon and just look authoritative. That's a way you put on your.
B
Orange vest if you look like.
C
Yeah. If you look like you belong there, then people don't even question. Yeah.
A
It's gonna stop me anyway.
B
Wear an old hat.
A
Yes.
B
Yeah.
A
The key is to keep the snips in your back. The back of your car. And so I'm gonna tell you my favorite snips right now.
B
This is really good information, y'.
A
All. Tip. It's the old fiskers. Like, my mom, like, hoarded her fiskars. Is it fiskar or fiskers? Anyway, for sewing scissors, she always had, like, these fresh in the drawer that we couldn't touch. But they make snips. And these just. You can get them at Home Depot, like $24. And it's amazing. Doesn't take up a lot of room, but it's got a sharp little sharp little edge. So I just actually grabbed these from my car. They're even, like, patinaed because I use them all the time. But these are great.
B
I want to say I have had snips before that are not fiskars. They are heavy, and you have to have a lot of grip strength to be able to because branches are like, the Branch of a tree. So these are thick. And when I just was messing around with these, they're so lightweight and the engineering of them is so easy to clamp that you can definitely get a big branch and not have to kill your hands doing it. So those really are the best.
A
Really are.
B
Yeah.
A
I love them. So make sure you have snips ready to go so that you can, like, either have fall leaves that you're bringing in or, you know, just even pines, like in during the winter. I think it's, like, really, really lovely to bring in some fresh ones. So. Yeah, anyway, so, yeah, good tip. But I will say that the vessel is really, really important.
B
Yes.
A
For this. Because you have taller ceilings. How tall are your ceilings in your kitchen?
B
In my kitchen, 10ft.
A
10Ft. Because you usually have one. You have your entry table.
B
Yes. And my entry is like 2ft taller. So 12ft in the entry.
A
So you can go high.
B
I can. And it needs it. Yeah. And so I. I like a large ginger jar so I can get a good, like 18 inches of that stem down in there for leverage. Because they're heavy.
A
Yeah, they're very heavy. Yeah.
B
And so you're going to want to clip, like, at least for me, at least four big branches to nestle down in there. Or maybe you get three big ones and a couple littler ones. So my favorite is our opal shell jar. Either white. I have it in my entry right now. On screen you can see these are faux cherry blossoms, but you can get huge tree branches in this. And then I also really love the black one for fall time or holiday. I just, I love that it feels just like so a little spooky.
A
Totally. And editorial.
B
But I do love black for this time of year. The opal shell is really dressy and, you know, if you're that girl. Also, I think really pretty on kitchens, so I think you need two. Sue, you have eight foot ceilings. What do you like to use ceilings?
A
And I have had like a big temple jar on it, but it doesn't. It looks out of proportion for like the size of my house, the size of my ceilings. And so I actually like these, like the blue. And I love, love blue and white story. And so I actually have one of these right here. Thank you, Ryan. This is very similar to the one I have on my entry chest. And I love this just because it is a little bit squattier, but it has weight. And I like what you're going to want to, like, notice on all of these is that, like, this is wider to hold all your water, but, like, the actual mouth of the vase or jar isn't too big so that your branches actually stay put. And so I love this. I think it has a cool story. So I think all of any of our blue and white jars, depending on the size ceiling that you have, I'm like, echoing on this. That's fun. We.
C
We offer that in, like, three different sizes. The small one's probably not going to be for foraging at all.
A
Yeah.
C
So you probably have the medium. That's the large. Either of those you can use.
B
Let's talk about adding layers, shall we?
A
Yes.
B
Okay, good.
A
This is my favorite. Yeah. And it's funny because, like, when spring comes, you, like, want to peel everything back because, like, you've gone through the Christmas, you're like, I don't know, you've had the cleanse, and then you just, like, want to see just open air and open up all your windows in spring at fall time, you just want to, like, bring it all back in and just, like, cozy. Yeah.
C
Absorb the warmth.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly. So. So, yeah. I think. I don't know. Pillows. We love pillows. I think to bring in a lot of warmth, we've introduced some really cool stuff lately, as far as I. And I think the textures that you really want to bring in, I feel like velvets, I think, like warm, warm colors. Olives, mustards, rusts. Those are the colors that you want to fill. And so with it, whatever design scheme you have going on, you kind of know what thread to pull from. You know, if you're more pinky or if you're more orangey, if you're more just browns, I'm like, it's all over the Runway. So I think there's a lot of different ways you can do this by just the pillows and things that you're bringing into your home.
B
I have. So we offer these pillows online as well as in store. And we've discovered our very favorite velvet pillow. And so I have six different colorways of the same pillow here. Olive to mustard. Mustard does a lot. If you look on screen right now, if you're watching, Sue's has these mustard ones.
A
They're my favorite, you guys.
B
She added this to her black and white sofa. But that's the mustard, which will really cheer things up. And I think the 70s is having a massive moment.
A
Yes.
B
So that's so cool. We have it in this great suede brown color.
A
Corey's holding up this tobacco Y cinnamon. That's really lovely.
B
So pretty. And then we even have, like, a Teal colorway, which I'm in my teal era, as you guys know. I just barely painted my, my living room scissor till I'm Jess's inner tail era. It's 1987 at my house. And I also love an animal print.
A
Oh my gosh, yes, please.
B
The good year all year round. But I mean, particularly in the fall, there's just something so rich about it. So this pillow, it's on our website. This one's called the Provocative print and it's this silky tiger and it looks really rich and I think it's going to make your room look so great. Picture this and then that black jar and the fresh fall branches, right. And then PA it with a velvet. I think this pairing is so pretty.
A
I know that little like terra color. Yeah, that's so pretty.
B
Kind of got a peachy note to it. Earthy. Look how pretty.
A
You know what I like about this zebra is that we've seen a couple like that Scalamandre zebra for a while, Latigre, which is like beautiful and it's iconic. This one's just like a fresh take on it. So you're still getting that pattern and.
B
Kind of that ombre.
A
No zebras were harmed in the making of this, but you get that. Yeah.
B
So pretty. And then this is another favorite for fall, the ball shaped pillows. This is, we get these out of Denmark. And this is real sheep shearling that is formed into a ball with many, many cuts and beautiful tailoring. And anyway, this is, it's just this really natural, beautiful color. They also come in like a cocoa brown color. So if you don't have a ball pillow on your Sofia or in a chair, these are a lot of fun. And where they're real shearling, they look really high end and very interesting.
A
So I say you're going to see a lot if you go online, you just like search ball pillow or sphere pillow. There's a lot that comes up and like you'll be tempted because they'll be like, oh, it's a velvet and it's cheaper and whatever. But like these, I don't know, there's. There's a real difference because I've seen clients grab those and I've touched them and anyway, these are so much better. So much better in the fact that they are the real shearling. Like there's a real value here.
C
If you're putting that in like the corner of a sofa, what are you pairing it with in that corner?
B
A square pillow? Yeah, actually, you know, like the really chic folks are doing. I've seen this on a curved sofa in particular. They use two sizes of this. A larger one and then the smaller one. Just the two balls.
C
I do. I think that's rad.
B
That's like we're having a photo shoot or filming a music video here. It's like the cool kids. But I do love that look. Most people don't have curved sofas, so I just think throwing one in a corner or one in a chair or putting a pillow behind it with this, we. We do it all over the showroom. So we' really well versed. We've probably been carrying these for like four years, I'd say. And so, yeah, if you're.
A
We've had less expensive options that aren't the real shearling. And I've had those.
B
Yeah.
A
And then finally I've just gotten these and like, it's just. It's a game changer. The texture is real. Like we're. You don't need a lot of pillows. Like, you just need good pillows. And so get the good one.
B
Yeah.
A
Get the shearling.
B
Agreed.
A
Yeah.
C
But also like switching up the shape. I feel like that's like interesting. Yeah. So interesting.
A
And everybody goes and they grab it. Like adults, kids, like, they start passing it and like, anyway, it's just a conversation. It adds whimsy, I think, to the house.
B
Definitely.
A
Yep.
B
Okay.
A
I love that.
B
So those are some of the fall layers. Another fun layer that we're loving. We introduced the mushroom ottomans during our house candy collection not too long ago. We have this in the deconstructed tiger and we also make it in an olive. Susan's going to show you the olive right now, if you're watching.
A
Very strong.
B
So pretty sue, how do you like to use the. Or the mushroom ottoman? What do people do with it?
A
It's so fun to nest. I feel like there's usually like an open console behind a sofa or like an entry hallway table. We just did one of these in our Odessa project or Desert Oaks. And it's so cute. We did it in again kind of this like we did in a mustard velvet. We did. We didn't have the olive yet.
B
Yeah.
A
So anyway, I just. They're so perfect to nest. I actually have the deconstructed zebra one.
B
Tiger.
A
Tiger. That's the pillow. I have the tiger in my son's room. And it's like the perfect type for them. The perfect type for me, like if I'm tying their shoes. And it just adds again that non directional shape and a little Funk to it, too. I think this, like, shape again, back to the 70s, that shape, that mushroom shape is so iconic to that, like, era that it just brings, like, this old school, cool bit to your house. And I just dig it. I'm so into it. Yeah. Again, it's whimsy. It's that just like the ball pillow, people will be like, oh, shoot, you have a toad stool. And you know what's better than just one of them is two.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm like, I love seeing them just kind of scattered. Not directly, like, stacked, organized. But I like seeing them a little offset from each other. I think they're very cool. Yeah.
B
Love.
A
Love.
B
So that's a really fun layer, getting those ottomans in a room every time.
C
We get both of those in. So whenever you're watching this, you're watching it in September of 2025. Great. But whenever we get those in, like, the. We're always sold out of them. So if you see them available and you've been wanting it, snatch it or just put it.
B
Push pre order. Just buy it on pre order.
C
Yes.
B
And it'll come in like, a month or two, and then you'll be always on order. But they have been so popular, and I'm just so excited for people to get this in. It really feels like a designer did your home.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah. It's those little unexpected elements. You're like, where did they shop? Right. What do these people know that I don't know? So we wanted to make this available to everybody so that they could start living like this, too.
A
I also think it would be a fun gift. I'm like, any. Any home, anybody, like, you know who you are if you're, you know, the tiger or if you're the olive. Like, I don't know. I'm like, how fun, much fun would it be to, like, give one of those or to receive one of those and be like, I have. I could put that in any one of my rooms in my house and, like, want another one.
B
Totally.
C
So giving one of those would feel like a baller move. I want it right? That's my. That's my goal.
A
Merry Christmas to Cory's fan base.
C
Suck up to me now while you can, guys.
A
Okay. So, yeah, pillows. We love, I think throws, too. Anytime you can get, like, cozy throws. I know we have, like, our mohair one that's on the website that I love.
B
Yeah.
A
Fancy. Fancy fact. I think Adam actually told me this because I have three boys. Anyway, I put mine in the washing machine.
B
Yeah.
A
Can I say that out Loud. Yeah, say that out loud here because you're our friends, which is so great. It's the coziest throw ever and also another really good gift. So grab yourself a mohair throw. So I love that.
C
Um, Suze, I heard you got Cozier's new luxury blanket and I want you to tell us about it.
A
I did. It's my very favorite new toy. It's the bubble cuddle blanket from Cozy Earth. And it's this faux fur that is the softest blanket I've ever experienced. All my family, we all go downstairs and we watch movies together almost every night in the summer and we all fight over our blanket and I think I won. I have the bubble cuddle and it is so soft and, and furry and I just, I love it so much.
C
Cozy Earth also has amazing bamboo sheets that come with a 100 night sleep trial. So try them out. If you don't love them, return them hassle free. There's also a 10 year warranty because once you feel this level of comfort, you'll want it to last a decade. So head to cozyearth.com and use our code Dear Alice for up to 40% off. That's cozyearth.com code Dear Alice. And if you get a post purchase survey, make sure to let them know you heard about Cozy Earth right here. Because your bed should be more than a place to sleep. It should be your happy place. Cozy Earth makes that possible.
B
Sense.
A
Let's talk about sense.
B
Let's do. What should we be burning right now that just ushers in the fall season?
C
This is the thing I always forget in my home. I had, I had some friends over for dinner on Saturday and it was like, I was like, I'm forgetting. And I was like, had to, yeah, hurry and light some candles. But it's not the same effect if you don't get them going an hour before, you know. So I need you guys. Yeah.
A
And if it doesn't beckon the season because you want them to kind of feel like the mood of it, you know. And so I think fall is just like there's so many scents that are going to try and like confiscate your nose. Like the pumpkins and like spices and stuff that like from anyway, they're not good. You want, I think you want to keep it like a little mysterious, a little smoky and luxurious where people come.
B
In on the nose.
A
Yeah, yeah. I don't want to smell pumpkin spice. If you're buying pumpkin spice, I want it to be because you're baking something in the oven for me, too.
C
That better? Yeah. It's not. Better not be our artificial.
A
But I don't want to spell.
B
Can I also say something controversial, please? I do not want to spell pumpkin spice when I wash my hands from a foaming soap in your guest bathroom. I just don't. I don't. I don't know why in our warehouse where we work out of there sometimes.
C
Yeah.
B
Somebody.
A
The buyer for the soap there.
B
Somebody there loves seasonal soap.
C
I'm going to get down to it. I'm going to stop it.
B
And I go in the bathroom, and they're all different, all the different sinks. And I just am like, there's nothing less on brand to me than that situation. And you come out and you're like, why do my hands smell like coconut cream or pumpkin spice or. And it's usually the wrong season, too, you know, because it lasts forever.
C
Yeah, we're.
A
We're.
C
We're. We're rocking spring scent still at the warehouse, so.
B
Yeah, yeah, totally. Okay.
A
But our favorite kettles.
B
Yes, we digress. Okay, sue, what's your fave on the board? Well, I'll take one. Cory, you take this one.
C
Yes. This. Yeah.
A
You know, I'm gonna take this one.
B
Okay, great.
A
Okay. We were. Okay. Speaking of high point, we're at another showroom at Verellon, and they have, like, this, like, courtyard that's just, like, such a gypsy.
B
Oh, my gosh.
A
Gypsy Rosie.
B
I haven't ever done drugs, but I'm sure it's, like, going to their courtyard.
A
I could just.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway. And like, there's just like, this, like, kid that's, like, selling from Montana or Montana or Austin or some, like, rugged town.
B
You must model in the daytime and make candles at night. Yeah.
A
His ha is probably doing something fun. But this stuff, it's from what has even called 1889 is the line. And this one's called Trapper. There's two scents that we carry, and I love both of them. I think that this smells so good. I'm going to tell you. It's oak, moss, oud, cloves, and deep amber.
B
Yes.
A
Deep amber. Like, that's more fall than that anyway. And it's not. It's so ambiguous that I think you can have this burning in a couple different spots in the house and still have other, like, you're cooking over here. But, like, I just. I love this thing and the price point on it's awesome.
B
Who are you?
C
I know.
A
Like, you should, like, backstock this in your candle closet.
C
Oh, real.
B
So good. Yeah, I love this. So this one is called Trapper. This is on our website.
A
Baron is really good too. I really like this.
B
Yeah, Baron is eucalyptus and mint and it's great. I love it in spring and summer. It's good all year. But this one feels fish. It's got that hot guy smell. Yeah.
A
Smells like a handsome man.
B
Handsome man. And in nature. Yes. He lives outside. He camps.
C
That's what makes him handsome.
B
He showers every day, but yeah, he.
A
So he wipes himself with the Oakland.
C
Are you guys doing different scents in different areas?
B
No, I like, I have one candle, like in the center of the house or I'll take it with me into the kitchen if we're hanging out in there. Yeah, I. I mean, I suppose I should do the same candle in two rooms or something.
A
But usually anyone usually only have like one candle burning.
C
Most often I typically, I do one in like my entry and then like one in my great room.
B
Yeah.
C
And I try to keep those the same.
A
But I like, I like these ones. Again, the price points on them. Like you can afford to get a few of these. Like just stock them. These are awesome. I love that one. Jess, what do you have in your hand?
B
Guys? I have lafco. These are. This is a hand blown glass vessel which is so gorgeous. So this flavor is called Big Sky. Big sky is pink pepper, cognac and patchouli. It's in a tortoise hand blown glass vessel with a black rim. So foxy sitting out.
A
This is a large paintbrush.
B
It's a one wick, but it's larger glass. Yeah. When you are done, you're gonna save this and put your paint brushes or grow a plant or use it as.
A
A gift or something.
B
Hold your silverware at Thanksgiving before you.
A
Go through the words in there.
B
Put worthers in there. Back to the candle. This called Big ranch house Big Sky. And this has been a favorite of ours for like price. Six, seven, eight years.
A
This one.
B
My gosh, you guys. I mean, I want to get that.
C
Yeah.
A
I feel like a wealthy rancher when I smell it.
C
Yeah.
A
Like I. I just came out like me and almost Kevin Costner just rode horses and.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
A
Enjoyed our Big sky moment.
B
Ralph Lauren just invited me over to his house. Yeah.
A
Like best friends with rough.
B
That's what's happening here. This is a lovely gift, but for sure get it for yourself and then buy it for all your friends for Thanksgiving and tell them you're great.
A
Just the ones you really love. Yeah. Yeah.
B
It's so good. Okay. Lafco and then Corey, what's your favorite fall?
C
So it's Lola James Harper. It's the Alice Lane home. So I mean just this vessel looks like fall to me. Right?
A
Yeah, that kind of amber colored glass. It's really cool.
C
Super cool.
A
We have our own candle guys. Isn't that fun?
C
Yeah. I mean I love this do come true. This is what I have in my home currently. And this what I was like trying to hurry and light and. Yeah. Before my friends came over on Saturday. But yeah it's. I, I love it. Yeah, that's me.
A
Okay. Smells vintage.
C
Yes it does.
A
Yeah, I like that. Next little doodads.
B
Yes. So next up we have our ivory key tassel. This just signals like a well dressed home. Which I think is all about the latter half of the year. Right. I love this. I actually, I actually put this over my doorknob so it hangs on my brass hardware on my orange door and.
A
On the interior exterior.
B
On the interior.
A
I was about to say pervert. You put it on the exterior.
B
I know. It would be such a perv. I should do that to tease the neighbors. I love it.
A
You don't have a doorbell but you have a tassel.
B
But yeah, if you have like a knob even I. Or if you don't have a key, you can hang it on a little knob on a commode by back door. By your front door. Where do you put yours?
A
My lamp on my like a little lamp toggle.
B
Toggle, yes.
A
Yeah, I should put a picture of that on here cuz I think it's so darling and it just like again I was like do I need a new lamp? And I was like no actually when I put the tassel on. Yeah, it was everything.
B
It's generous.
C
So it's just, it's just hanging like below the shade. Like you see it coming out.
A
I'll show you. Yeah, just. And it just like it's a te. Really, really good.
B
Yeah, you'll find a place. They, they look great everywhere. On a floor lamp would be great also. I just have it here in our book cradle just on an open spine and it looks beautiful with the tassel sort of hanging heavy out of that.
A
That would be lovely. Again, gift season's coming up to have that like on top of the gift, like a little plus one or if.
B
You'Re going to get invited to one of those favorite things party, you know it has to, you know what I mean? Like wrap this up. You know you're going to be so, you're going to feel so classy Going.
A
Home with one of these.
B
I would fight for this, too.
A
Fight you for it.
B
You fight me? No, I fight you.
C
That's awesome.
B
I love that.
A
I do love the ivory key.
B
It's the little things, right? The details are the details.
A
It's true. And again, traditional is trending, and, like, there's nothing, like, more traditional than a tassel.
B
Agreed. Lovely.
A
Okay. Candlesticks. Nothing's more romantic and lovely in the fall than candlesticks.
B
Let me just say fall is for keeping the lights down low, the lamps on, and lighting the candles. We don't want to use the big lights down low.
A
Right.
B
Or if you have a dimmer on that. So we have a couple of really great candlesticks on the table. The new orb candlesticks, this beautiful brass finish. I think these are so cool. They also feel kind of 70s or vintage. Love it. On a cocktail table, you can do it on a mantle. But I think the height being a little bit lower, is just so pretty. You can have conversation going while these are dripping. Pro tip, guys. We burn a lot of candles at Alice Lane for photo shoots for people's houses and whatnot. What I finally figured out last year that I want to pay forward to you is get beeswax candles because they drip better and they're just, like, more romantic, the way that they melt. You can get them in, like, a natural beeswax. They also smell good, like kind of honey. Ish.
A
Yeah.
B
Which is lovely. And they're natural. And you can also get them if you wanted to, in the yellow color. We love an ivory taper. And a famous designer once said, never.
A
Leave a wick white.
B
That's right.
A
So Martha Stewart, when you do.
B
Oh, it was Martha. Yeah. Oh, I just called.
A
I guess I learned that in high school.
B
There you go.
A
I did an autobiography or read her autobiography. Just Desserts.
B
Just Desserts, yes. So we're paying that forward to you. So when you do get the candlesticks home and you get yourself those beeswax candles, you're going to want to make sure and light them, burn them down a little bit, because you'll start to get that drippy nature to them, and it will look like you just live like this. Even if you forget to light the candles, like Corey did at his party, people will be like, oh, he likes these all the time. Right?
C
Yep.
B
It'll look like you're ready to go. Yeah. And then, you know, if you're this girl, or maybe this is on your cocktail table, and then we have the crystal candlesticks they're just faceted beautiful K1 crystal. These sold out last holiday season. They're back in stock. They are so foxy. We have a picture on the screen right now of we did multi colored candles around the table. A dining table during the holiday party. We put little velvet ribbons around their necks, their little collars and they were so cute. We even put a little ornament on some. They sold out in one second. We didn't even have them for the rest of holiday. But they're back. So we wanted to make sure you guys knew that. And this just is like so dressy and gorgeous. I love these on a mantel or.
A
A dining table or a cocktail table. I was just gonna say, I'm like, especially when you are bringing in all these layers and you have more books on the table and you have vessels and you have just a lot more things. Because we're being cozy. These are fantastic because they're there, but they're transparent. So they add a sparkle and a wetness that we always love. But like again, I had that even like in our lamps which we're going to get to. But there's just something again that's just like sparkly. And I think especially for this time of year with all the other earthy materials that you. We've been feeling in the summer, we're just going to start to add a little bit of this, like shine.
B
Yeah.
A
And. And it just, it feels really, really good. So I do love it on a cocktail table.
B
Yes.
A
So if you have a lot. Yeah. It's so pretty. And like there's. I dream you need height. I dream of the table.
B
Yeah.
A
When. As far as like, I love my children, I love their ages right now. But when they're not gonna like use everything as a weapon to have these on the cocktail table and just like people come over and they're like, what you like, are you having a party?
B
And you're like, no, my life is a party.
C
This is every day.
A
This is me. Yeah, I like taper beeswax tapers on my cocktail table. Don't you? But yeah, there's nothing more dreamy.
C
I was just gonna say we do sell these individually. This is fairly. And I think as of last year we started like, you know, selling the set because we believe really the magics in the, in the grouping, you know. So yeah, you can buy them individually. But yeah, we sold them as a set and I. We put a discount on them buying them that way. So yeah, check them out.
A
I love it so much. I bet Ral. Lauren doesn't use anything but beeswax.
B
I'll bet he doesn't either.
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. I'll have to confirm that this is the real deal.
A
Okay. Should we take it to the bedroom?
B
Let's take it to the bedroom. Sue, take us into your bedroom.
A
Okay. Well, I'm so glad you asked. Okay. So you guys in the summer usually, like. I love a white bed. I love, like, we. I had, like, our Brisbane duvet cover that has, like. It's just, like, lineny, and it has this, like, really pretty eyelash ruffle on the edge, and it's really fresh for summer. And I've had it there for a second, and I was like, I need a new duvet. And so I brought up this. The cutest, cutest duvet. It is called our workshop stripe, and it's from a line called LeapCo, which, if you guys have been listening, you know how much we love LeapCo. It's out of Belgium, and we. I. That's my favorite sheet is actually the linens. The linen sheets from leapco. Um, but I've always had a white bed with just, like, I have my zebra lumbar, but I have a green bed. And I was like, how, like, will this be too much? It wasn't. It was, like, so perfect. I feel like I'm dancing around my words, but I cannot, like, tell you how great this is, especially in this era where we're mixing patterns and just adding interest. This is. Again, speaking of Ralph Lauren, I feel like this. He would be a complete advocate, and I feel like his best friend sometimes when I, like, walk past my bed and I'm so excited to make my bed every day when you have something new like this. But I do think just like, you're adding velvets and interest and pattern to the rest of your home, do that in your bedroom, too.
B
The nice thing about the workshop stripe is it's got this beautiful neutral ground. It's not white, the ticking. It's this. It's this. Yeah. Oatmeal color. And then the navy blue is just, like, the perfect shade of, like, a charcoaly navy. It's just really natural. Belgium grows the very best flax, which makes the very best, longest staples.
A
The.
B
So that these will last for generations. And it's. It's just absolutely gorgeous. So add this to your white bedding or pull this up deep and tall. And I just think it's.
A
You're.
B
You're going to really feel so cozy while you're watching all those fall and Christmas movies. Throughout the season. It's a favorite, and I think both of our favorites. They also have matching shams, so you can get that in there. You can leave your. Your white quilt on that you had for summer. But it's these layers that make fall really feel like fall so good.
A
So get yourself some new bedding. Also, like, lumbars and, like, I think this is a grave spot. Like, I love our zebra pillow. So.
B
Yeah.
A
Okay, next teak cutting board.
B
Y' all see cutting board?
A
Because I love this thing.
B
You just need a grazing board. You're gonna have company stop by, and you're just gonna empty out anything in your fridge and cupboards. Then bring out the nuts, bring out the cheeses, bring out the. The cured meats and the fruits.
A
Honestly, the takeout, you're just gonna throw it on there, and you're gonna look like.
B
So you're gonna look legit normal. And a movie can be going on in the other room. And this beautiful teak just has all of this aged, like, wood irregularity and everything on it.
A
Just.
B
It just looks like you went up to Sundance to eat, like, this gorgeous sort of carving board.
A
I know you feel like a chef. I was so jealous of yours. You had one, like, the most. The coolest one that had, like, all these, like, divots and knots.
B
They're all one of a kind. It's a. You're gonna get a different experience. And the front and the back are different, too, so.
A
And it comes in three sizes. And, like, I have a small kitchen, but I have two of the large because I just, like. I use them so much. So, like, the best thing to bring fallen and bring that warm wood. It's so good.
B
I love that for entertaining. So good.
A
So good.
B
Okay, and then last thing on the list is. Yeah, the lamp light, the candlelight. We love the crystal lamp in the winter. It does add a little bit more sparkle when things are so dark. And something about crystal in a dark room is just so foxy, don't you think?
A
Think light travels?
B
Yeah, definitely. So whether it be the penny lamp in a kitchen, Beverly is my favorite. I have her on my center hall table. She's got this, like, little waistline to her that's cut through the facets of the vertical channels on it. And then Francis table lamp is 30 inches tall. It's perfect for a bedside table or center hall table or a living room table. But crystal in dark seasons, it's just the bomb. Crystal lamps, gorgeous lit candles, fresh forage branches.
A
Favorite scent.
B
Yeah, you've got mail is on to you, Betty. Yeah. You're pulling up that workshop stripe duvet and cuddling in for the season. Nothing's better.
A
I know.
B
Yeah.
C
See you in April.
A
I know. Peace out, y'. All.
B
So get a pair of snips is a recap.
