Jess
Hello, everyone. Welcome to Dear Alice. Today we are going to be taking you behind the scenes of our brand new collection that just launched Monday called House Lights. These are a set of lighting that we've been working on in our own product development designed by the house for you guys. And I cannot wait. These are scene changers. Really, really excited for you guys to get your hands on these and to get them home. It's been a really personal collection too. Suzanne and I both installed these lights in our house and we're actually shooting our houses for this launch. So the launches went live Monday. When you're looking at them, that's. That's how we live. And we wanted these for the way that we live. So it's felt really personal. I'm just so excited to be able to break it down. It's really four lights in the collection, but we've done each of the lights in different sizes. So the collection is about seven pieces big. And I think they're going to make a huge impact in your spaces in, in small spaces or even bigger spaces. We've got some really large scale flush mounts. We've got some tiny flush mounts, which is one of our favorite design tricks. A new baby lamp in the collection and a really cool sconce. So let's get into it.
Suzanne
Okay, let's do it.
Corey
Maybe before we do, I was thinking, Jess, since it's a new year, we can like give them a little sneak peek on some other launches we have in the future, like maybe the new Classics one.
Jess
Yes.
Corey
And some of our favorite pieces from them.
Jess
Yes. So much to look forward to in 2026. We've been working hard at so many things for years and years and they're all just starting to finally come in. And we've been sitting in prototypes and, and sitting in final pieces and flying.
Corey
Over there and sitting and stuff and rearranging things. So.
Jess
Yeah, for sure. What are some of the ones that you're excited about?
Corey
The Cocoon swivel. That one took such a long time. The mechanism is very unique on it. It's a swivel rocker. It was like back and forth and then side to side as well.
Suzanne
And every man, male client of every design project has requested this thing. Yes, everybody, everybody wants movement and just like to be able to do. Do both. You can't usually find a swivel rocker that doesn't look like an old lady slip covered situation for a nursery.
Jess
Exactly.
Suzanne
So that's what's so exciting about this. It feels. Yeah. Iconic. Very cool.
Corey
Thank you. And I'm maybe most proud of the fabric on it because it is next level. We had that sample made like four or five different times, I think, and went from fabric to fabric and I'm glad where we landed. Super excited about that one.
Jess
Yeah, me too.
Suzanne
How about you, Jess?
Jess
We have two center hall tables coming out for you. We've only ever had the James table, I think since we started creating furniture back in 2019. So coming out of the gate with two brand new center hall tables is really great. Spoiler alert. We've got a Luca center hall table. Center halls are a little bit taller than a dining table by 2 inches. It just gets it where you need it in an entryway. And then we're about 48 inches round. And then we have a really beautiful octagonal one with a really pretty gold inlay. It's kind of this pretty sort of chalky French, greenish grayish color that just looks so stately. I think anywhere you put it, whatever style you are. So the center halls I think are going to be so fun and fun for Alid to have center halls because I know so many of the entries. We do. We love that. Tricks snuggled up against a staircase or right in the foyer.
Suzanne
They're so easy to use.
Jess
They are so easy to use.
Suzanne
And like, you know, we love to style, so it's just one more service versus style.
Jess
It's so true.
Suzanne
Yes. I love it.
Jess
It's so true. We've got a mid century pink slipper chair coming.
Corey
Yeah.
Jess
Really gorgeous.
Suzanne
I'm so excited about that.
Jess
Ye some new sugar and trays. Anyway, look forward to that. We're going to be launching what we're calling the new classics in February. Yeah. Coming soon. In a little less than a month from now. Yeah. Yeah.
Corey
Three to four weeks, I think.
Suzanne
What's so exciting about like not only like looking forward to that, but what we're going to talk about today. House lights and all of our collections honestly are so inspired by like how we live now, how we design now, but also just reminiscent of like what we've left from the past and what has been iconic in the past and trying to like marry the two. That's what I'm so excited because when I look at house lights, I feel like the one for our caviar light, we picked that up how many years ago.
Jess
Sue and I love to go on a little vintage treasure hunt whenever we go shopping, really anywhere. And I found this little old fashioned light and I don't even know what era it would have been out of, but it was this little squared off sconce. It looked like you would just hang it on a nail.
Suzanne
I'm gonna call it the 20s.
Jess
Probably the 20s. Yeah. And we were able to take an idea and then riff off of it and come up with something that we would use today. Which turned into being a huge flush mount.
Suzanne
Yeah.
Jess
Because it's frustrating when you're looking for a flush mount to find something that's 12 inches round for an entire room. I mean, bedrooms used to be 10 by 10, but they're bigger now and you need bigger flush mounts. And so we actually went about 17 inches on this thing. It's. It's about one and a half times larger than what most people are going to give you. And getting the glass right took a really long time just to be able to sculpt glass like this. And it's. It resembles almost like bubbles. And even the glass has sort of an amber cast to it and a slight iridescence. And Suze is living with it in her bedroom. Yeah.
Suzanne
So beautiful. Yeah, it's. Yeah. The caviar collection in general is ridiculous. And honestly, before, I don't know if we want to, like, keep going with the caviar. I was going to say just about the whole collection. I think about our design projects, which are huge, you know, but every home has little petite spaces, large spaces that need. And so I'm so glad. Not only did we do something original, but we did something in multiple scales. I can't think of a house that wouldn't take these lights beautifully. And originally. Yeah. Which is really exciting, I think, for a light. And honestly, like, for us, it was fun to experiment. I live in a 1971 cowboy house, you know, with eight foot ceilings and my houses every time I keep adding. And you and I both lived with antiques and antique lights that we just installed just for our own, like, love of the game and merit. So just to be able to offer that to people is just. It's so gratifying that we're creating something so original but so steeped in something historic. I'm excited for you guys to see it all and get it in your homes because I know I've loved living within mine.
Jess
Let's keep going on that. Caviar.
Suzanne
Caviar.
Jess
Let's pull up. Should we just show them? Let's show them. Both of them. Yeah, yeah.
Corey
Just smaller. Big.
Jess
I'll hold the small if you'll hold the big. Yeah. If you guys are tuning in, obviously on YouTube or Spotify, you're going to see this if not, we're going to describe it for you if you're wherever else you get your podcast. So the caviar light, we wanted to do this beautiful brass bullnose edge that would give it some relief off the ceiling. Because these are flush mounts. I love it when a flush mount really projects down into the space. And so giving ourselves this really big, beautiful, almost 2 inch solid brass bullnose like that is just so stunning. And then you can see that pretty amber, iridescent glow. It really does feel like a little kid dipped his stick in his bubbles and started to blow. It's just so beautiful. I know when I put it up like this, it's reflecting the lights from the podcast. But up on the ceiling, Susie, you just painted your bedroom ceiling. If you want to take people on that journey, we'll put some of the images up on the screen of your bedroom. We installed the large caviar flush mount on Sue's ceiling. Yes.
Suzanne
We painted our room this really moody, like, cinnamony color. And what glass and crystal does, like, against dark color is, it, like, exaggerates the shadows. And so when you get a shape like this, like the everlasting gobstopper caviar gorgeous moment. I really feel the pillowing of these bubbles on my ceiling. And it just like, casts the most beautiful light. And I love, I love colored glass. We've. I feel like we've collected more of that than anything. Just because there's something about that transparency of just like seeing like into something that's just like this grand reveal of, like, the space feels larger. It feels more magical. There's a mystique to it. And that's what I feel in my bedroom. And I have it in the large. And it is perfect. It is so perfect. And I love, I love going to sleep looking at that, and I love waking up looking at that. I can't wait to figure out where I'm gonna put you because you're so cute when you held it up vertically. All these, like, you can use em as a FL out.
Jess
Yep.
Suzanne
But you can also use them as sconce.
Jess
Totally. This would be so great.
Suzanne
I'm like, why have we not done that?
Jess
Making an entry mirror in a hallway or. Yeah, I can't wait to see.
Suzanne
We're going down a hallway. Like, how iconic are you?
Jess
That would be amazing. In between doors. Also, I love the trick when you use a mini flush mount instead of a can light. You can easily make that update in, like, maybe you have sort of a primary closet would be great. Hallway. Or if you have a smaller hallway like you have, we replaced two lights with the flush mounts coming up. But I love the small size for that. I think lighting is getting so smart with mono points and small flush mounts like this. And just more charming than. Than a can light.
Suzanne
I was thinking when we were trying to figure out where should we put these? Above your sink, in that little spot sandwich between two cabinets. And again, whenever you have that textured glass, it just puts off the coolest lights and shadows.
Jess
Yes. Oh, and where we did end up shooting this for the install was in one of our designer, Maddie. She painted her little tiny potty closet. Oxblood put this mini flush mount in there, and it looks so good. She also used our new red mod sconce flanking the mirrors. So designer, so pretty. We'll put those pictures on screen right now so you can see how that turned out. But this is the caviar flush mount in two sizes. Big, beautiful, bold, 2 inch brass bullnose. Really gorgeous textured glass. I cannot wait for you guys to experience these. Get them home if you're to the trade to get to use these in projects. They're available now. And this is the caviar.
Corey
One thing added to that before we move on. I love that we kept the DNA of Ace and Alice too, on that bull nose. And so it kind of just feels cohesive. Feels. Alice Lane, so super proud of these.
Suzanne
The best bracelet stack, y'. All.
Jess
Totally. And I will say of House Lights, that is the one piece that you'll see repeated throughout the collection that there'll be a bullnose on the mod sconce. There's a bull. No, a double bullnose. On the Alice. On the Alice. We'll get into those next. Should we talk about the red mod sconce?
Corey
Let's do it.
Suzanne
Let's do it.
Jess
Okay, so you guys know the mod sconce. We've done it in brass. And then we came out with a double armed mod sconce because you guys all wanted a double of it. We wanted to pay a little homage to Jean Royer, French designer from 1902. He lived from 1902 to 1981. And we love his work. It is modernism, it is whimsy. And he just really had this way of, I just think, making iconic interiors. And we wanted to get our hands on a. On a red sconce. And we can't do it. We couldn't do it anywhere. If you do get so lucky to find a pair at auction, they will take up your entire Lighting budget for your whole house. So we thought it would be fun to take our own spin on it and create a red sconce to pay homage to him. And this is the mod sconce in red. I love how this turned out. You can see that bullnose edge around it. We've got a really steep shade in linen off white linen on top, and so chic. I just installed these in my home office. We also just installed it in a little dark, moody powder bath. This is going to be iconic in any interior. I could not be more excited, Josh.
Suzanne
And this color, it's like this almost that tomatoey red, too. That's not just like a true. Like a ruby red or anything, but it goes with anything. Like, even in branding, when you put this color, like, highlight anything in this color, it just, like, makes it come alive, and that's what this color does for interiors. I tell you, I put red in a room, and it's like, it. It's the star every time. And so. And I don't know, I love. I think one thing that he was so good at is just. He was playful, you know, And I think that this adds something that's just like, is. Is playful to an interior, so we don't get too serious.
Jess
I agree.
Suzanne
Life is too short.
Jess
It is too short.
Suzanne
Too stuffy.
Jess
When you're like, I want to know their story. Like, you know you're going to get compliments on the sconces when you come in. It's like that signature red lip that you have.
Suzanne
It's.
Jess
You get compliments on it all day. You can now get this in your home.
Suzanne
Get a lot of credit.
Jess
Yeah.
Suzanne
Have real tired eyes, but you have a red lip.
Jess
Yeah.
Suzanne
Have a real messy room, but you have a red sconce.
Jess
Yeah.
Corey
Doing all the.
Suzanne
You win.
Jess
Yeah. So good. So good.
Suzanne
I love the mod sconce.
Jess
I do, too.
Suzanne
What is the color called? Like, just the modern red door.
Jess
What, Ben? More color.
Corey
We used Merlot red, but it is slightly different than that because we. Yeah, we played with it, judged it up a little bit, changed a little bit. Yeah.
Suzanne
Yeah. I love it.
Jess
It oddly took probably over a year to get the red right. Sending the prototypes back and forth and just trying to make sure and land it. But it does feel. It does feel very iconic, and it feels very loewe to me with, you know, that whole collection he did with the tomatoes. And I wanted to call it tomato red, but then they were saying it'd be very rare to call it flag red, which was kind of fun, because if you think about the French flag, there's red in it. Also, American flag is in it. But at the end of the day, I was like, I don't want to call it tomato or Merlot or. We all see red so differently. And I do feel like this is iconic and it's fresh without being too mature. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Corey
And it's its own thing. Yeah, exactly.
Jess
You guys, I got a great idea for Valentine's this season.
Corey
Let's hear it.
Jess
Well, Cozy Earth is offering Bogo Pajama Deal. Did you know this?
Suzanne
No way.
Jess
They've never done it before. So bogo means buy one, get one. So I'm gonna buy pajamas for me, and I'm also gonna buy a pair for my daughter Jane that lives at home, because what, mom doesn't want to dress just like her daughter? Exactly. She's gonna hate it. She's 20. But she's gonna love the pajamas in.
Suzanne
The most comfortable jammies that have ever existed. Earth.
Jess
The most comfortable pajamas.
Suzanne
Oh, you want to know who I'm going to give mine to? Who? My mom and my sister. Which means I get two pair and they each get one of the most comfortable pajamas on planet Earth.
Jess
Seriously, though, these are so lightweight and cozy, and I like how tailored they look. You know me, I want to still look good even in my pajamas. The little piping around the collar.
Suzanne
I like the draping, too.
Jess
I think so, too. I have not seen these not look good on anybody. They drape beautifully. They're so soft.
Suzanne
Also, there's.
Jess
They're cooler than cotton, which is very important.
Suzanne
And the color fast. The color fastness stay the same color, and they do not peel years later. I tell you what.
Jess
Yes, I agree. So comfortable. You look chic in them. You wake up feeling good. I'm in love with the pajamas and love that there's a bogo going on.
Corey
These viral PJs are so good that they sold out during the holidays, and now they're back with an exclusive deal only available January 25th to February 8th. Jess
Okay, next up, let's do the drum. Do Penny. I love that. Okay, so you guys know the Penny lamp. She has been in the collection since the beginning, since we've offered lighting. So probably five years now. Last year, we came out with the Althena Calcutta lamp in Viola, and it has been everybody's favorite lamp. And so we thought, why don't we give the people what they want and make Penny the best seller and make her body in Calcutta viola? So we sampled it and loved it. We thought, yep, we're gonna do it. We're gonna make that available in not just one, but both sizes of penny. We make it in alabaster in just the large. We make it in brass in just the small.
Corey
Yeah.
Jess
We make it in crystal in both sizes, and we are making this in both sizes. We're so bold. We are a real brass. Beautiful body under the neck. You can see in finial. And then we've got a linen shade and this beautiful unpolished marble. It's so stunning. I've got this on my secretary at home. I'm tempted to take it off of that and put it in my kitchen. I've got the large one sitting on my Beatrice brass etager in my bathroom. I want to steal it for other areas of the house. It is so classically beautiful. That little height lives perfectly on a backsplash underneath the kitchen counters. It can live in small areas, big areas. Grand piano. I mean, where would you put this? Sue's on a project.
Suzanne
Oh, gosh. You already said this in the kitchen. Like, I have the Athena and the Viola in the kitchen, but I'm like, maybe I want this in my kitchen. I'm gonna move Athena somewhere else. So kitchen for sure. I think, too, I have a Penny lamp, and I want to replace it with this, actually on my TV console, because I have, like, stacks of books. We have a tv, obviously, but you can put a little lamp there and not have it be obstructive. And, like, people ask about that all the time. And it just, like, I have that on. It's like a little nightlight all the time. So I think on a long console. I love it on a desk. Love it on a desk so much. Yeah, I could put this anywhere.
Corey
I have mine. And on. On a little side table that we have, we have a small mud hall that we enter in 95% of the time. I just love having a little light on there at night. I don't have the kitchen lights on. Just that one is. That room's adjacent to it. So just love the glow of that. And obviously, like, this marble is bananas. So love it.
Jess
I. I think one thing that's really nice about all of the pieces in the collection is that they all have this sort of soft globe shape or half globe or bullnose. These soft shapes or the bubbles, these soft shapes are really what I feel like so many rooms need. There's so many straight lines in a house. We've seen curves come really into fashion, and I think we're going to see this orb shape for a lot of time to come. It's just so nice, just taking the edge off. I also have my large crystal penny in my mud hall on a little chest that it is always on. I leave it on around the clock and it is just a, like little beautiful punctuation mark in that space. And I, I really love the softness that it brings, the soft light. It just feels and looks like home. This is just big, big fashion points for the viola. Not all of us can afford to replace our countertops right now. I know if we could, a lot of us would love to do something a little bit more just remarkable and wild and look fashionable, but this is a way to get that hit. And whether it be at your makeup vanity or your back hallway or in your kitchen. So this is the penny lamp, available in both sizes and just launched Monday. Can't wait for you guys to get these.
Suzanne
So fun. Every one of them are different. So I, I love a wild card, y'.
Jess
All.
Suzanne
I love a grab bag, cuz I'm like, you get it and like, you open it up and it's like it was made for you. You know, it's so individually yours. Exactly. I'm like, that one has like, you know, they're the veinings closer to each other so you feel more of that, but then you have the white space on the little one anyway. I just, I'm obsessed with. And you're like, I need both of them.
Jess
Yeah, I need both of them. Yeah, they're so good. Okay, the last one in our collection, this is our Alice flush mount. We have an Alice sconce, and it has a single bullnose with an alabaster center. And we started saying, gosh, we could grow that collection and we could do a flush mount. But alabaster has become so, so extremely rare and expensive. To get that, we're like, how could we keep these in check cost wise for people and make it really, really big? I think we did a great job doing this. We thought, let's do white glass and let's do the double bullnose. And this is the result. This is a really beautiful steep dome. That double bracelet of a bullnose. Oh, so good. Sue hall, you are living with the small. Alice, two of these in your hallway?
Suzanne
Yes.
Jess
How's it going?
Suzanne
I love them. I don't know, like. And I didn't even know I needed them so badly. Again, I'd been like, I moved into this house, I stripped it of all of its ugly lighting. I've been living with light bulbs. I'm just like, okay, cool artists, whatever. And I have these, Tom. Like, we have both. We have two little. Two of these. And we have all this art just like lining the hallway. And you, like, look up. All of a sudden I feel my ceiling. I didn't really feel it before. I kind of just like ignored it. It's not too grand. Like, there's something so sweet about the humble with all these oils and paintings and storytellers, you know, that it just. It gets along with everybody, but it has a cool vibe and a cool mood that it feels at home. It feels really, really at home. I love these, I think. And we're always talking about just like design projects in general. Like, what are things that like, we're always looking for. I'm always looking for a creative flush mount because every home needs them. We need them in potty closets, we need them, you know, down hallways. We need them in mud rooms, you know, just anywhere. We need, like a spotlight that I don't want to put a can. I need something that's not going to be competing with everything else because we all have collections. And so this was such. I didn't realize how easy and like. But also it has an opinion. It's not like, void of, like, personality at all. And so to have these, like, with my collection, it just. It feels right at home. It feels like something I would have found, you know, on Cherish or first dibs, which is my favorite hunt. And so I love that we're bringing that to people.
Jess
I do too, love how that turned out. And then the big one. The big one, you just barely put in your boy's bedroom.
Suzanne
I did.
Jess
This is massive. We're about 17 inches big girl across in this. And it is huge. It really lights up the room. How many light bulbs were in that one? Three.
Corey
Three?
Suzanne
Yeah.
Corey
Just like your standard E. Yeah. 26 bulbs.
Suzanne
These are fun too, because in my boys room, I'm a color drench mic. We're blue on the ceiling, blue on the walls. So it's really fun. You really feel the brass and that white dome in there, like during the day. I love going in there in the morning and seeing it and I love turning it on at Night, you know. Oh, I just.
Jess
Yeah.
Suzanne
They're so cool. They feel iconic and it's just that, that vintage old school cool, man. It just is everything.
Jess
Yeah. So and playful. And I love having a soft shape in a room where there's a lot of the straight lines and it just sort of evokes a real feeling projecting into the space. And that double bullnose you really get credit for do. Yeah.
Suzanne
The white glass too, I think is so iconic because I have pulled that for so many homes and we've ordered it for so many homes where it just is something that is just like reminiscent of the past. It's interesting, not competitive, but just has a vibe to it. And like we have it in a really great scale at that. It's not too narrow. The diameter is like awesome.
Jess
Yeah, that's it. I mean that is the lighting collection, the Alice in both sizes. You can replace those. Can lights. You can use a flush mount. I think it's such a cool way. Especially those eight foot ceilings. We need. We need you guys. There's so many people with eight foot ceilings where you need a flush mount. You don't have enough space to be able to come too far down into it without hitting your head. And I think these look so iconic in, in your house. That's what you've been seeing on the screen today is Suzanne's spaces and then also Maddie's beautiful powder bath. I've got the penny lamps at. It's been fun to get to take you guys inside the collection. Any final words, Corey, on this that I'm forgetting to tell them about?
Corey
This always happens with every launch. We have limited quantities of all of them and they all sell out and then I'm in a mad dash to like, you know, get them back in stock. So get them while you can and yeah, enjoy them.
Jess
Yeah, for sure. For sure. Well, thanks so much you guys for tuning in. If you have any questions for us, just send those to Dear Alice alicelanehome.com or if there's an episode idea that you wish that you cover, send those in as well. Make sure and give us a follow on Instagram. We are at Alice Lane home on Instagram. That's our store side and all the product that we're making and at Alice Lane interiors for the custom homes that we're designing. Yeah. Check out the new collection. It's called house lights on alehome.com.
Suzanne
Why did you call it House Lights?
Jess
Good question. Yeah, because I felt like it'd be fun to call it House Lights because the house designed the lights.
Suzanne
Oh, cool.
Jess
So often we've specified lighting from other people's lines, and now we're designing the lights. So we thought it'd be fun to call it house lights. Also, you know when you go to a production and they say, can I get the house lights on? Yep, yep, yep. I thought that was fun. And I think anything going forward can move into the house lights collection because they were designed by the house.
Suzanne
Yeah.
Jess
For you. Yeah.
Suzanne
Last little plug is I also installed the lulu sconces in my room. You're going to see that.
Jess
Yes.
Suzanne
But also, house lights work so beautifully together. You know, they're not the same, like they were introduced at the same time, but they are all part of the house lights collection and they all live really harmoniously together. So cheers. Cheers to that.
Jess
Also, do you remember how fun the house candy collection was?
Suzanne
Gosh. House lights.
Jess
We just. We couldn't resist.
Suzanne
I know.
Jess
Yeah.
Suzanne
I love that.
Jess
Check it out on alishome.com. thanks so much for tuning in, you guys. We'll catch you next time. Hey, thanks for listening. If you like our show, please leave a five star rating.
