Dearest Fantasy Readers, welcome to the Dear Fantasy Reader Podcast where we travel through the pages of our favorite Romantasy novels. I'm Hannah.
Kinsey
I'm Kinsey.
Carly
And I'm Carly.
Hannah
Now that we are wrapping up our Onyx Storm season, we wanted to share what's next for the podcast and what's changing. We're always looking for ways to talk about more books, bring you new authors, and create a space for you to be a part of the obsession. You'll notice we're transitioning out of chapters by chapters as our main structure. We're not stepping away from deep dives. There are just so many anticipated releases coming up that we want to talk about.
Carly
We also know not everyone has time to reread three books before the next release, and even if you do, you might not have the time to binge over a dozen two hour long episodes before the sequel drops. So yeah, we're focusing on what we do best crash courses, lore refreshers, theory spirals, and emotionally chaotic post release episodes, all in the form of what we're calling prep and recovery seasons.
Kinsey
Each prep season will include fast paced recap, refreshers, breakdowns of characters, lore, plot threads, world building, and our signature theory spirals, all designed to get you emotionally and mentally ready before release day. And once the book releases, we will complete the recovery portion of the season with an initial thoughts and reactions episode, breaking down and explaining anything that may be unclear, and answering top reader questions, theories for the next book if it has one, and possibly even author interviews.
Carly
We're still deep in the details, just channeling that energy into formats that help more readers stay caught up and feel prepared. We're doing the legwork so that you can spend less time cramming and more time fangirling or guying. We're organizing our prep coverage by book, with each one becoming its own season. You can always refer to our full season guide. It's live on our website and linked in the show notes and our bio.
Hannah
So here's what that looks like. Our Season 4 Dear Fantasy author interviews will be ongoing, as will our season five book reactions and standalone coverage. And our next official season number six will be Drum roll Burn of the Everflame we sat down and organized the next year of our seasons and tentatively based on book releases, and we want to make sure you're prepared before the book drops, not after. That's why we're starting early with Burn. Even though there's no official release date yet, it's a must cover for us and getting a Head Start gives us the time to get out all of the content and still fit in coverage for other books. Once Burn releases, we'll jump right into the recovery portion of the season. In between our Burn prep and our recovery post release content for Burn, we'll also begin prep for Brimstone, which does have a release date, and we will slot in prep for other early 2026 book releases to fit it all in because the current early 2026 release slate is packed.
Carly
Yes, Understatement.
Kinsey
This is still the same Dear Fantasy Reader podcast you know and love, just in a format that lets us cover more books, serve more readers, and spiral even harder.
Hannah
Or as we like to call it, fangirl multitasking.
Kinsey
We're building the ultimate romantasy resource for readers who want to feel prepared, connected, and completely immersed in the stories they love. Whether you need a crash course before a new release, need a confusing plot twist broken down, or someone to spiral with after a cliffhanger, we've got you.
Carly
From lore and world building to character arcs and sequel theories we reread so you don't have to. We recap, process and fangirl right alongside you. Whether you're a serial book girly with detailed annotations or a passenger princess just here for the vibes, we're here to get you caught up, keep you caught up and make sure you never fangirl alone.
Hannah
We will be taking a few weeks to prepare our outlines in season game plan for Burn of the Everflame and we have some incredible Understatement of the Century incredible author interviews releasing. In the meantime, Kinsey is moving this summer so you may see more of Carly and I throughout our Burn season. No need to fret, we will still be active over on our socials and we'll have a season schedule releasing soon. Stay tuned for all of the exciting things that we have in store. Until next time. Dearest fantasy readers, prepare yourselves for our journey into the Kindred Curse saga.
Carly
Can't wait.

Episode Title: What’s Next for Dear Fantasy Reader: New Formats, New Books, Same Fangirl Energy
Release Date: July 10, 2025
In the episode titled “What’s Next for Dear Fantasy Reader: New Formats, New Books, Same Fangirl Energy,” hosts Hannah, Kinsey, and Carly announce significant changes to the podcast’s structure and content as they conclude their current season on Rebecca Yarros' Onyx Storm. The trio emphasizes their commitment to evolving the podcast to better serve their growing audience of fantasy enthusiasts.
Hannah opens the discussion by welcoming listeners and introducing the topic of the episode:
“Dearest Fantasy Readers, welcome to the Dear Fantasy Reader Podcast where we travel through the pages of our favorite Romantasy novels.” (00:05)
As Season 3, centered on Onyx Storm, wraps up, the hosts reveal a shift away from their traditional chapter-by-chapter analysis. Recognizing the increasing number of anticipated releases and the limited time of their audience, they are introducing a more flexible and comprehensive format.
Carly addresses the need for a new approach:
“We also know not everyone has time to reread three books before the next release, and even if you do, you might not have the time to binge over a dozen two-hour long episodes before the sequel drops.” (00:42)
To accommodate this, they are implementing “prep and recovery seasons,” designed to streamline the listening experience while maintaining in-depth analysis.
The new structure consists of two main components:
Prep Seasons:
Kinsey elaborates on the prep phase:
“Each prep season will include fast-paced recap, refreshers, breakdowns of characters, lore, plot threads, world building, and our signature theory spirals, all designed to get you emotionally and mentally ready before release day.” (01:04)
Recovery Seasons:
Kinsey continues:
“Once the book releases, we will complete the recovery portion of the season with an initial thoughts and reactions episode, breaking down and explaining anything that may be unclear, and answering top reader questions, theories for the next book if it has one, and possibly even author interviews.” (01:04)
Each book in the Empyrean series will become the focal point of its own season, allowing the hosts to delve deeply without overwhelming their listeners. This organization ensures that each release is given ample attention and that listeners can easily follow along with their reading schedules.
Hannah outlines the upcoming seasons:
“Our next official season number six will be Drum roll Burn of the Everflame we sat down and organized the next year of our seasons and tentatively based on book releases, and we want to make sure you're prepared before the book drops, not after.” (01:56)
The hosts provide a roadmap for future content, highlighting ongoing and upcoming seasons:

“Yes, Understatement.” (03:13)
Kinsey reinforces the continuity of the podcast’s essence:

Hannah affectionately sums it up:
“Or as we like to call it, fangirl multitasking.” (03:26)
The revamped format aims to create the ultimate romantasy resource, catering to diverse reader needs—from those seeking crash courses before a new release to fans wanting to delve into complex plot twists post-release.
