BBC Sounds Music Radio podcasts. Hello and welcome to Diddy on Trial from BBC Sounds with me, Anoushka Matandadawati. Week five of Sean Diddy Combs trial is underway right here at the Southern District of New York court. Now it's set to be the prosecution's final week of evidence and then Diddy's defense will begin their side afterwards. A reminder, Diddy is charged with sex trafficking, racketeering with conspiracy and transportation for prostitution. All of these charges he's consistently denied. Today, the testimony of Jane is continuing. Now she's on the stand. She's using a false name to protect her identity. Last week she started to tell us about the relationship she says she had with Diddy. And today we're expecting to hear how it came to an end. So I'm going to head in now and see what she has to say and I'll fill you in later. So it's a 5pm finish, which is a little later than when used to. I'm here with Jerica Duncan from our partners at CBS News. Drika. The day started very similar to how we left with Jane talking about text messages.
Jerica Duncan
That's right. So we heard more text messages, more evidence that the prosecution wants out there to show. She on multiple occasions expressed that she wasn't comfortable with these hotel nights, as they call them. We knew them through Cassie Ventura as freak offs. And she said things like, I'm not a porn star. I'm not an animal. I'm tired. This isn't good for my soul or my spirit. With every message, there's a conversation, usually with Combs, in which there's an apology, there's a I miss you from her and they sort of link back up together. And we see this literally up until the point of when Combs is arrested. So they start dating in 2021 and throughout their relationship shortly after sort of the good phase which she described the first day that she testified. There's this back and forth dance of her not really feeling comfortable dealing with escorts and dealing with Combs.
Anoushka Matandadawati
And they ask her, they clarify over and over again, who did you want to sleep with? Did you want to sleep with these guys? And she says, no, I only wanted to sleep with Shawn. And it was interesting that you mentioned Cassie because a lot of the morning was actually devoted to speaking about her reading Cassie's lawsuit, which she had not seen before.
Jerica Duncan
So November of 2023, Cassie Ventura files that civil lawsuit. It settled within 24 hours. And we learn that Jane texts Combs and said she was in shock that this read just like her own story that she said she was experiencing. So there's this element of confusion for her. Then we learn that Christina Corum's phones were confiscated by the government. And it's through the phones that we hear audio of Combs and Jane. And in this audio that Combs is recording her. Combs accuses Jane of recording him. So there were so many layers there. And what you hear in this conversation is Combs saying, listen, you know, we were into some kinky things, but we were all on the same page. Right. And what you hear from her again is that I didn't want to do that. And in fact, she said a couple of days prior to getting this information about the lawsuit or reading those three pages that she said almost are identical to what she experienced, she was telling Combs, once again, I'm really not down with this. I don't want to do it. And then we move up to 2024, and you have Jane at Combs Miami home watching the CNN video of Combs assaulting Cassi Ventura from 2016, as many people are seeing it for the first time. And she says, I was at a table and I lost my appetite. Literally. A month later, she describes this horrific incident that she says involves her slamming Combs head on a marble table because all this anger built up. She describes Combs hitting her a couple of times near the eye on her forehead. She says that she ran to a wall six blocks away from her home and stayed there for two hours and then comes back to the house, at which point Combs is still there and is chasing her throughout the home. And in the end, they invite an escort over to the home. And this is again, Jane's testimony. Jane says that Combs says, you're not going to F up my night, so we're going to have an escort here. You're going to do what I ask you to do. She says Combs then said something to the effect of is this coercion? The prosecution kept asking Jane, okay, so June, that horrible incident happens. Was that the last time you saw him? And she's like, no. Then I saw him in July and there was another escort. And then I saw him in August and there was another escort. And then I was on my way to see him in September, but he was arrested. But we learned, too, that this person has legal representation because of Combs. Combs is paying for the legal representation. According to Jane, Combs is still paying her, I believe, $10,000 a month.
Anoushka Matandadawati
Yeah. We also heard some similar Testimony about how Jane said she felt after the bulk of these sort of hotel nights, she'd participated in them. She said she was dealing with ptsd. And then in some of the text messages, she spoke candidly with him about how she felt about herself.
Jerica Duncan
So Jane described feeling disgusted. She said she felt sick again. She talked about this not being something she ever really wanted to do, that this was evil, that it was not of her. And she consistently describes this sort of pattern of the drugs are there, the pressure's there, she misses Combs, and then she finds herself back in this cycle of behavior. And there were times where she talks about him encouraging her, like, yeah, there you go. That's what you need to do. Excited that she would be okay with taking pills. Again, this is Jane's testimony, so we have yet to hear from the defense in terms of how they will cross examine her. And some of those text messages she also mentioned, which I thought was also interesting. There were a couple of times where this happens. There's this reconciliation or agreement that maybe we're not good for each other and we should go our separate ways. But Combs apparently wanted her to sign some paperwork and wanted a clean break and said, robyn's going to call you, which is the accountant. And then we learn that she says something about, well, you basically got to pay me for three months because I need time to get my footing. You know, this is a woman who didn't really have a steady job.
Anoushka Matandadawati
So we're hearing all these things, and it's picking up on some of the stuff we saw in the press before. We didn't know if it was rumors or conspiracy while we were building up to this trial about the Freakoff tapes and some companies potentially having them or not. But one of the most impactful things, as ever is left till the end. And it's speaks to Jane's current relationship with the defendant, with Diddy, and the amonetary ties she has to him and how she felt about him emotionally.
Jerica Duncan
The prosecution asked her, how do you feel about Sean Combs today? And she took a deep breath. And she expressed a complicated relationship, essentially by ending her testimony, saying, I just pray for his continued healing. I pray for peace for him.
Anoushka Matandadawati
The prosecution also made sure that they highlighted to the jury that Jane had spoken both to the defense and the prosecution, and only after a subpoena. But she spoke to the defense first.
Jerica Duncan
Yeah. In fact, the last time that she spoke to the defense, she said, was April of this year. And she claims that she actually told the defense first about that. June 18th incident that she described, based on the testimony that we've heard where they get into this physical altercation and it just goes on for hours and then ends with an escort coming over and her being forced to, as she said, take a pill and perform oral sex on him.
Anoushka Matandadawati
And she did get emotional through the testimony.
Jerica Duncan
She did. She broke down several times.
Anoushka Matandadawati
And of course, we know that the cross examination is most likely going to be pretty intense. They're most likely going to want as much time as the prosecution have had and that is what will begin tomorrow.
Jerica Duncan
Yeah. And they know that they're up against the schedule of someone, Jane, who is planning to travel internationally. I believe she's supposed to leave on Wednesday or Thursday. So that was noted last week. So I think there is an effort to try and get through her testimony as best as they can.

Detailed Summary of BBC Sounds' "Diddy On Trial" Episode: "Diddy’s ex: 'I wanted to stop having sex with other men'"
Release Date: June 10, 2025
Introduction
In the pivotal fifth week of Sean 'Diddy' Combs' high-stakes trial, BBC Sounds' podcast "Diddy On Trial," hosted by Anoushka Mutanda-Dougherty, delves deep into the latest developments at the Southern District of New York court. This episode, titled "Diddy’s ex: 'I wanted to stop having sex with other men'," primarily focuses on the continuing testimony of Jane, an ex-relationship figure of Combs, who is testifying under a pseudonym to protect her identity.
Trial Overview
Sean 'Diddy' Combs faces a series of serious federal charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering with conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution. Combs has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining his innocence throughout the trial. As the prosecution enters its final week of presenting evidence, the defense is poised to begin their counter-arguments, promising a contentious courtroom battle ahead.
Jane’s Testimony: Unveiling the Relationship Dynamics
Jane's testimony is central to the prosecution's case, providing a firsthand account of her tumultuous relationship with Combs. Using a false name to safeguard her identity, Jane chronicles the complexities and challenges of their association, shedding light on alleged coercive and abusive behaviors.
Communication Evidence
A significant portion of Jane’s testimony revolves around text message exchanges between her and Combs. Jerica Duncan from CBS News highlights how these messages reveal Jane's discomfort and reluctance regarding the "hotel nights" orchestrated by Combs. She quotes Jane expressing, “I'm not a porn star. I'm not an animal. I'm tired. This isn't good for my soul or my spirit” (01:21). These messages illustrate a pattern of coercion, where Jane repeatedly sought to distance herself from the illicit activities, only to find herself drawn back through Combs' apologies and declarations of missing her.
Impact of Cassie Ventura’s Lawsuit
The episode also explores the influence of Cassie Ventura's civil lawsuit against Combs, filed in November 2023. Jane recounts reading the lawsuit, which mirrored her own experiences, causing confusion and distress. This intersection adds a layer of complexity to her testimony, suggesting potential similarities or collusion between Ventura’s case and Jane’s allegations.
Audio Evidence and Allegations of Recording
Further intensifying the case are audio recordings recovered from Christina Corum's confiscated phone. In these recordings, Combs is heard accusing Jane of secretly recording him. Despite Combs’ claims of mutual understanding concerning their "kinky" interactions, Jane vehemently disputes this, stating, “I didn't want to do that” (02:17). This evidence underscores the purported lack of consent and Jane's persistent resistance to Combs' demands.
Incidents of Physical Altercations
Jane details a harrowing incident in 2024 where she confronted Combs after watching a CNN video of his alleged assault on Cassie Ventura. Overwhelmed by anger, Jane describes slamming Combs' head on a marble table, leading to physical retaliation from Combs. She narrates, “He hit me a couple of times near the eye on my forehead... I ran to a wall six blocks away from my home” (03:45). This altercation exemplifies the volatile and abusive nature of their relationship.
Financial Manipulation and Control
The prosecution highlights Combs' financial control over Jane, who remains under his legal representation and receives approximately $10,000 monthly payments. Jane expresses feeling trapped in a cycle of dependency, exacerbated by financial incentives, as she admits, “I need time to get my footing” (06:00). This financial manipulation is presented as a means for Combs to maintain influence over Jane, despite her expressed desires to sever ties.
Emotional and Psychological Impact
Jane's testimony poignantly conveys the psychological toll of her relationship with Combs. She speaks candidly about experiencing PTSD and a profound sense of self-disgust, emphasizing that participation in the illicit activities was against her will. Jerica Duncan notes Jane’s recurring sentiments, such as, “This is evil, that was not of me” (05:32), illustrating the deep emotional scars inflicted by her interactions with Combs.
Prosecution’s Strategy and Defense’s Upcoming Moves
The prosecution meticulously underscores Jane's prior communications with both the defense and prosecution, revealing that she spoke to the defense first in April 2025, before a formal subpoena. This sequence is critical as it highlights potential attempts by Combs' legal team to influence or intimidate Jane. The episode anticipates an intense cross-examination phase, where the defense is expected to challenge Jane's credibility and recount events from a different perspective.
Emotional Turmoil During Testimony
Throughout her testimony, Jane visibly struggles emotionally, breaking down multiple times, as captured in the transcript. Her vulnerability adds a compelling human element to the case, eliciting empathy and concern from the audience. Anoushka notes, “She did get emotional through the testimony” (08:37), emphasizing the personal toll the trial is taking on Jane.
Impending Cross-Examination
As the prosecution wraps up its presentation of evidence, the focus shifts to the looming cross-examination by Combs’ defense team. With Jane planning to travel internationally soon, the prosecution appears eager to expedite the proceedings, aiming to maximize the impact of Jane’s testimony before her departure. Jerica Duncan comments on the scheduling pressures, “There is an effort to try and get through her testimony as best as they can” (08:53).
Conclusion
This episode of "Diddy On Trial" provides a comprehensive and emotionally charged account of Jane's experiences and allegations against Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Through detailed testimonies, revealing text messages, and audio evidence, the prosecution builds a narrative of coercion, abuse, and manipulation. As the trial progresses towards its defense phase, the podcast ensures listeners remain informed and engaged with real-time developments, offering expert insights and empathetic coverage of this high-profile case.
