Title: The Stolen Angel Author: Sara Blaedel Narrator: Christine Lakin Format: Unabridged Length: 8 hrs and 55 mins Language: English Release date: 01-02-18 Publisher: Hachette Audio Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 1 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Detective Louise Rick returns in Sara Blaedel's number-one internationally best-selling series! When the granddaughter of the wealthy Sachs-Smith family is kidnapped, Louise's skills as a trained negotiator are put to work. She is tasked with helping the desperate mother negotiate what soon turns into a life-or-death situation. The kidnappers will only exchange the deathly ill little girl for an infamous glass figure - known as the Angel of Death - that has been in the family for generations. But there's a problem...the Angel, worth millions, was recently stolen from the family home. As Louise's search for the missing girl continues, it will take her to the depths of human depravity and the ultimate perversion of art and human dignity. Will she be able to find the little girl before her time runs out? Members Reviews: THE STOLEN ANGEL will leave both long-term fans of Sara Blaedel and casual readers of her work wanting more January brings us more Sara Blaedel. THE STOLEN ANGEL is the second installment in her Louise Rick series to be published at the beginning of 2018 (following THE RUNNING GIRL) and picks up about six months after the somber events of that worthy title. Kudos to Blaedelâs publisher and translator Martin Aitken for getting readers in the United States up to speed on Blaedelâs productivity and the events of Copenhagen Detective Inspector Louise Rick. Those who have been following Louise closely will welcome THE STOLEN ANGEL, which thus far is Blaedelâs most intriguing work in the series. As might be expected, the book is comprised of two separate plots that proceed along parallel tracks for a bit before intersecting. This is standard procedure for the majority of contemporary mystery stories, but Blaedel does a particularly good job of using it in two important ways. First, finding the common element between two very diverse plotlines seems almost impossible. Yet bring them together she does, and in THE STOLEN ANGEL, she manages the task while startling the reader. Secondly, Blaedel tends to have the different mysteries sooner rather than later in her books. She does this once again here, springing forth a revelation at about the halfway point that doesnât change everything but certainly sends the story spinning in a new direction. Letâs talk about those plots for just a moment. The first involves a collector of sorts whose macabre interests focus on a terrifying tableau that he is constructing, and adding to, as the novel commences. I donât want to tell you what it is, but itâs sure to send a chill up and down your spine. The second concerns Denmarkâs wealthy Sachs-Smith family, which has provided grist for secondary plotlines running through previous volumes in the series. The bookâs title refers to a religious icon known as the Angel of Death, which had been exhibited in the Hagia Sophia in Constantinople until its disappearance in 1453. Rumors had long circulated that the Sachs-Smith family had discovered the icon and smuggled it out of Turkey decades earlier. As we learn early on in THE STOLEN ANGEL, those rumors were true, a secret passed down to immediate members of the family. So when a replica --- also in the familyâs hands --- goes missing, and a demand is made for the original, one family member initiates a scheme to locate the original, which has been hidden away for several years.

Title: Mason's Missing Subtitle: A Tuper Mystery, Book 1 Author: Teresa Burrell Narrator: John Bell Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 15 mins Language: English Release date: 12-22-17 Publisher: Teresa Burrell Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 3 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Tuper is helping find five-year-old Mason, who was presumably taken by his father, but when Mason's father is found unconscious, Mason has disappeared again. In an impossible search during a bitterly cold Montana blizzard, old cowboy Tuper and his hacker friend Lana's quest blurs into one of insanity and murder. As wounded Tuper fights to stay alive in the bitter cold, Lana searches cyberspace and finds someone is working hard to ensure certain secrets remain secret--especially Mason's true identity. Members Reviews: Excellent new Teresa Burrell series.... Mason's missing is everything you would expect from a Teresa Burrell book. This book introduces Tuper. He's a PI who basically works for peanuts. He only wants to be paid what his clients can afford. A child is kidnapped from his school and his mother hires Tuper. She tells him that she is divorced and suspects her ex husband. Tuper can find no marriage certificate, no birth certificate, nothing on this man with the name he uses. Then the ex is murdered. So he begins looking into the mother and ditto, nothing on her either. No birth certificate for the child (Mason). Who are these people ? Tuper begins an investigation that is so convoluted. He hires a computer hack with secrets of her own, but with absolute dedication. She's also very chatty and adds levity as this tendency for incessant talking ( even to herself) drives him crazy. Tuper also hires JP periodically, he's from the Advocate series (which I recommend that entire series). As the story continues no one is who they appear but connections between characters are made. This is a great mystery with a very surprising ending. Narration by John Bell was very good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You. A new series from Teresa Burrell I am a huge fan of the 8 novel The Advocate series by Teresa Burrell and I hope she will continue it. Mason's Missing is the first novel in her A Tuper Mystery series. The setting is rural Montana in the winter. Tuper is a private detective who picks the cases that interest him and is paid whatever the client can afford. He works with his hacker friend Lena. Five year old Mason is missing and his mother is frantic. There are frequent plot twists that change the perception of the case for Tuper and the listener. One can never go wrong is selecting a Teresa Burrell novel. Mason's Missing is a suspense mystery while her The Advocate series are legal thrillers dealing mostly with abused children in the legal system. Burrell's most recent 4 books have been narrated by John Bell who does an outstanding job.

Dark psychological thrillers with heart-pounding suspense, the Keri Locke Mystery series is a riveting new series - with a beloved new character - that will leave you listening late into the night. Members Reviews: Not very stimulating I am rather bored with the really rough female cop that goes agsinst all the rules to get her job done. I would have fired her from the get go. They always make the female far to independent, rogue and sneaky. Plot was pretty much what it was going to be and who the killer would be around the second chapter. Of you read the first book t h e second is the same just different nsmes. I am done with this series. POWERFUL I had already read the first book in this set and found it to be impossible to put down. Now after reading the second book in the Keri Locke series I found it to be as riveting and powerful as the first.

Title: Hell's Gate Subtitle: DCI Bennett, Book 2 Author: Malcolm Hollingdrake Narrator: Nicholas Camm Format: Unabridged Length: 7 hrs and 10 mins Language: English Release date: 12-07-17 Publisher: Whole Story Quest Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 1 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: A domestic dog attack on a child leads to a complex case - the macabre discovery of indiscernible body parts amongst bin bags littering a road on the outskirts of town. Meanwhile, a team of criminals spreads its tentacles across the sordid underworld of people trafficking, dog fighting, prostitution and murder. Is there a link between these cases, and can DCI Bennett catch a twisted killer before he strikes again? Members Reviews: Interesting storyline The first two hours of this book were listened to while I was in the dentist's chair for a crown. What a beginning! Gruesome, tense, and emotional. The rest of the book was good, better than the first one in my opinion. But still not quite great. I'm still not comfortable with the characters. And the narration left a bit to be desired this time around. The narrator's voice levels were not consistent and the strong accent, although accurate I have no doubt, made it hard to understand all that was being said. The story of human trafficking, dog fighting, protection, and other crimes kept me interested. I may listen to the subsequent book.

Title: Dying Day Author: Stephen Edger Narrator: Emma Newman Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 20 mins Language: English Release date: 11-18-17 Publisher: Bookouture Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 8 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Her dark skin looks almost grey; the effect of the elements and deaths touch. Her limp body left pressed against a wire fence like trash. I make a silent promise that I will do everything I can to catch the person who did this to her. Exactly a year ago, Amy, a young detective on Detective Kate Matthews team, was killed when she was sent undercover to catch a serial killer targeting young girls. Kate never forgave herself for letting the killer slip through her fingers. As the case is reopened and the campaign to find the culprit begins again, Kate is told to stay well away, and for good reason: another girls body has been found. Kate is determined to connect new evidence to the old to catch this monster before more innocent lives are taken. The trail runs cold when her prime suspect is found dead. But then why is the body count still rising? The answer is more terrible than Kate could possibly have imagined, and the killer so much closer than she thinks. Members Reviews: When the trail grows cold and the killer might never be found... DI Kate Matthews is driven. She has a serial murderer on the loose and no one believes her. After she's put on suspension, she's the only one still convinced that there are links between the murders in London and in Southhampton. Young women, brutally murdered and left naked, exposed, in public places. Kate has ideas, but is running out of time and people who want to help her. Thank heavens that the brother of one of the dead girls, Finn, is willing to get involved. This is fast paced, intriguing and a suspenseful police procedural. I missed the first in the series but could easily identify the character of Kate as she is a protagonist very common in the genre. She doesn't play by the rules and is often on the outs with her superiors. She's reckless and pretty much a hot mess, but her intentions are genuine. Kate has good instincts, but in this case, she's thrown for a loop with a surprise twist that some will see coming. I enjoyed it. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review. This publishing company has become my "go to" for new books in this category! A HEART-POUNDING READ!! 1. Plot âââââ The story opens with Amy being chased around her home. She feels a sharp pain on her neck and passes out. DC Amy Spencer died a year ago. DI Kate Matthews is on a high speed pursuit and ends up in a car accident. When she wakes up, she's in the hospital. She leaves the hospital and goes back to the police station. Her supervisor sees her and tells her to go home. Kate hears that there's news about Amy's death and Kate intends to find out. Kate meets with DC Trotter and is told that they found a young woman's body in the trunk of a BMW. She was badly beaten. Title: The Death Messenger Subtitle: Matthew Ryan, Book 2 Author: Mari Hannah Narrator: Tim Bruce Format: Unabridged Length: 11 hrs and 28 mins Language: English Release date: 11-16-17 Publisher: Macmillan Digital Audio Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 2 votes Genres: Mysteries & Thrillers, Suspense Publisher's Summary: Track a stalker. Catch a killer. When a mysterious DVD is delivered to Northumbria Police Headquarters, DS Matthew Ryan and Detective Superintendent Eloise O'Neil are among the few to view its disturbing content. With little to go on, the only lead comes from the anonymous and chilling woman's voice narrating the blood-soaked lock-up depicted on screen. But with no victim visible nor any indication of where the unidentifiable crime scene is located, Ryan and O'Neil get the distinct feeling someone is playing with them. What is certain is that the newly formed special unit has just taken on its first challenging case. As further shocking videos start arriving at police stations around the country, the body count rises. But what connects all the victims? And why are they being targeted? As the investigation deepens, the team is brought to breaking point as secrets from the past threaten to derail their pursuit of a merciless killer.... The Death Messenger is a tense police procedural that follows The Silent Room in the thrilling Matthew Ryan series by Mari Hannah. Members Reviews: Thriller mainly set in North East England ...Not any kind of thriller, itâs a Mari Hannah thriller. Ryan and O'Neil are back ....with a bang. A complicated case of videos being sent to police up and down the country, victims left right and centre and with no obvious links.. this is a meaty thriller to really get those teeth into. Ryan and O'Neil really shine in this book - their relationship, arguments, mutual respect yet love hate relationship develops and is at the centre of this case. There's backstory which builds up a very interesting picture of them both and I loved the way they interacted with each other through the lighter moments as well as the darker ones. A tough investigation this one, so when they bring in someone to help them, the Silent Room of book one comes into play allowing for some very exciting police work and insight into a troubling investigation. There was no let up in this book - fast paced, meaty detail on each page. It's a twisty case and chapters from the killer;'s point of view work really well. There's many moments of light hearted banter too such as, when the case takes them to Copenhagen( Not a spoiler) they observe that the officer "is no Sarah Lund". Lisbeth Salander seems to be hanging round the edges of this case. Locations wise, it's Newcastle to North Shields, Lewes and Scotland then off to Copenhagen. The real gem of this book is as if you're getting an insight into what it's really like working in a small cell of officers on a very tough case. Secrecy is the order of the day. It's gripping, seemingly very authentic in language and procedures and a gritty and fascinating case which unravels before your eyes. I was captivated by the relationship between Ryan and O'Neil in many ways and I NEED book three now to see what happens next. They've been through the ringer with this case. Mari's wit and style comes through the gripping story with such events as when Ryan stops off en route to an investigation to visit the Rebus pub, and someone picks up an Yrsa Sigurardóttir novel... The banter between the four main characters - love it.

Please note: This audiobook is in Spanish.

She needs every advantage she can scrape together, or she'll lose her brother forever. Members Reviews: Well worth the time The series gets better as it moves along. The writer is becoming a force to be reckoned with in Urban Fantasy and I've read a ton of them over they years some so awful I couldn't get past the first couple of chapters (paranormal romances usually masquerading as true urban fantasy) to the high end writers who intrigue and keep their world building fascinating and truly engage with the reader. Gosh! Since bad words are not allowed on Amazon! Holy poop is the best I have. What an exciting and heart wrenching book. Some much was filled into these pages. Hope, loss, power, blooming love, and more loss. I needs my next book fix. That was so good Two books were packed into one for this book. Iâm not complaining though. The storyline advances and complications are beyond my wildest dreams. I really liked this book more than the 2nd one and was glad to see Ella return somewhat to the humorous character of the 1st novel. Four Stars Excellent series! Four Stars exciting books hard to put them down.
