Fear often creeps into our hearts, especially when we think about standing before God. John answers that fear with the comfort that God has given us his Spirit and has made his love to known to us in Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. Because God’s perfect love for us in Christ covers our sins, we can face the day of judgment with confidence instead of fear. And that same love that removes our fear also moves us to love others, because he first loved us.
