Alex Legato
Thanks for the by way.
Thomas Dopas
Thank you for being here. Let's just start off right now and if you're in an elevator with some full. What do you do? Give us that. Like, what's, what do you do? In a nutshell, like what, what do you do? Because I know if somebody looked at your Instagram like, oh, he makes music, man. That's awesome. So like, what is it that you do? I know you make music, but there's.
Alex Legato
A little, there's a little more.
Thomas Dopas
I met you at a weed event at John's booth. So I'm like, oh, all right. So who's this guy? So what do you do in a nutshell? Cuz I, I've. We've done, we've done our research. So it's like, what do you do from your end?
Alex Legato
So I do music, bro. But like I, we do Mexican music, right? Original Mexican. But my music is based like in la, you know, like, my music is like a lifestyle and original Mexican music, you know, like me, myself, like I got to us when I was 11, so I wasn't born here, you know. And like me, there's a lot of people that doesn't really listen to English music but doesn't really listen to the full Mexican music, you know. So I feel like my style is like a little bit of everything, you know, it's like bridging LA lifestyle on corridos, you know?
Thomas Dopas
That was perfect. All right.
Alex Legato
Perfect.
Thomas Dopas
Thanks for the, thanks for the truck. All right. No, so that's, that's what I got from it. I was like, I don't speak Spanish. I don't know Spanish, but it sounds tight. But if you're mixing both worlds because right now I feel like we talked about it recently, that Spanish music's on the rise. It's probably the most popular music besides like, I don't know, Indian music. They got the most people though. K Pop maybe. They got hella people.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
As of right now, I feel like it's the biggest thing in the past five years.
Alex Legato
In the past five years. Yeah. You hear on the radio and, and probably you don't know, but, and, and, but I want to tell you, which is my band, like, we. We're big part of that. Like one of the first groups that started making it happen like on this side, you know, like before us. I feel like all the musicians out here, like, we were just. We were just trying to make it. Trying to copy like the real Mexican style that was coming from Guadala Misanora Caloa. That had a lot of good musicians, bro. And all the people here were just trying. We were trying to.
Thomas Dopas
All the people here was just trying.
Alex Legato
To copy their style, you know. And I feel like after us is when it came all these new wave that is talking about a whole different new thing, you know, like back then it was like a lot of narco stuff, you know. And right now it's changing. Like right now it's like the corridors are talking about like pretty much what reggaeton used to talk about, you know, like hoes, weed, American rap music. And that's that and, and that's what we're listening to right now. You know, the new style. Like. Like all these new things is. It's. It's been like getting here.
Thomas Dopas
Like it's almost commercialized.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it's almost. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, it got to glow. It got to global this year, you know, like the past two years has been global now. So. So yeah, I feel like we were a big part of the. Of that, you know, of that change. Yeah, we changed that with a few artists that are on top right now too. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Like who are a couple. Marty, as you could tell, probably doesn't really, you know, listen to Spanish music. And you would probably get fooled by me, but I don't listen to Spanish music either.
Mario Neal
Listen, Big Pond.
Thomas Dopas
Get out of here, man. So who are some of the artists you're talking about that you're working with?
Alex Legato
Oh, no. So when we started making the new movement, right, like I think it was 2018, 2016 around there, we started making a lot of songs with the. We also had our own. Our own record label, what's it called? Lum Music. Okay. Yeah, we. We had signed at that time, which is one of the biggest groups in the world right now on the Mexican thing. And also, I didn't say badron is. It was just a new movement, you know, that it got, it got pretty big to where it is now. Yeah, yeah. And I want to say the legal at the started that, you know, take.
Thomas Dopas
A little credit for it.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, no credit for that.
Thomas Dopas
Where did you. When you say you moved here at 11, where did you move from? What. What part of Mexico?
Alex Legato
Okay. To Phoenix.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, to Phoenix.
Alex Legato
Phoenix, Arizona.
Thomas Dopas
Damn. Hot to hot.
Alex Legato
Hot to hot. Yeah. Super hot. To super hottie.
Mario Neal
When you say legato. Seven and seven people in the band.
Alex Legato
No, with five. Five people.
Mario Neal
Oh, okay.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Seventy. Just for lucky number. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So like you were saying for your chain.
Alex Legato
Yeah, like, I'll see at the. It was me and my partner Ramon. He's the recording player. He's the one that invited me to the group, and I met him in the studio. I've been writing music since I was little, a little kid, so.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, really?
Alex Legato
Yeah. He heard about my lyrics and then.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, so this is like overnight. You've been doing this for a while?
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, I used to write music all times. I remember, bro. And there's this day that I, I, I give like five of my songs to, to my homie, Junior Salazar. And then my accordion player was actually producing his album. So I bet, I believe he probably asked him, like, oh, who, who is. Who wrote this? You know, he told him about me and he called me. You know, we made a group since then. How old were you at that time?
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
20. 20.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, okay.
Alex Legato
Yeah. And my started popping like, right away, bro. Like. Yeah, yeah. Like we did the album and pretty much on the next year, we were already doing a, A tour. Oh, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So this happened fastest. How old are you now?
Alex Legato
I'm 31 now.
Thomas Dopas
31, so. Okay, so. Damn. You said you'll get over that, man. When I turned 31, I'm grown. I just turned 35. So now I'm like, oh, I'm fully grown now. So now.
Alex Legato
Yeah, one of, one of the main purpose that, that I want to do this podcast is because with dropping my tenure album, this, this 420. We've always been sick. We've always been dropping albums on 420 because that's one of the things, like, since we started, like, my style was like weed corridors. So people. But you don't hear about people call it a corridors. Read this. Which is green corridos.
Mario Neal
You know what's what's corridors translate to corridos?
Thomas Dopas
It's like a hard translation, right?
Mario Neal
It's like style of music.
Alex Legato
It's a. It's a corridor, is like a, like a. I don't know, like. I don't want to say man music, but. But I don't know. How can you say.
Thomas Dopas
What would you pronounce it to a guy from these lifestyle.
Alex Legato
Bro, you're talking about your lifestyle. That's what we live, you know what I'm saying?
Thomas Dopas
Like we smoke.
Alex Legato
We smoke.
Mario Neal
Oh, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, this is from the ground up.
Alex Legato
It's like a. Yeah, yeah, like a super rap song. Yeah, yeah, that's what it is.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so like street music.
Mario Neal
Basically.
Thomas Dopas
You're awesome.
Alex Legato
You never heard of those before?
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, no, no, just saying, like, what does it mean? Oh, you talking about the music you've heard. Omar's made hell of. I don't know the word.
Mario Neal
Like, I'm trying to.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, I got you, I got you, I got you.
Mario Neal
I thought it was like the genre of music.
Thomas Dopas
I mean, that's what it's kind of. It's like, it's like saying what? Like street rappers. Street rappers. Like. Oh, you're classifying it. Yeah, but you're classifying it as something, right?
Alex Legato
It's a gangster, like gangster rapping.
Mario Neal
Yeah. Gotcha.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah. Hey, so 10 year. Is it a new album is a compilation of other music?
Alex Legato
Yeah. So we always be dropping albums on 420 and this year we're dropping the big one because it's been 10 years, you know, so I wanted to put it out there.
Thomas Dopas
Sick on 420.
Alex Legato
What's it called?
Thomas Dopas
Or can you say it?
Alex Legato
Yeah, it's called. It's called L7X, you know, L7X, that's the name of the album and it comes with the 17 songs. And they're all bangers, bro. They'll talk about weed, hoes and, and the game, you know. Yeah. And we got a. We got a few good featurings that I don't want to say yet.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
But yeah, it's gonna be doing.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, you're happy about is what you're saying?
Alex Legato
Yeah, I'm super excited about it, bro. Honestly, like, we hadn't. It's because you. We have a studio in the house, you know, so the albums, like the last albums were like, okay, like I call my drummer on Saturday and then he'll come do the drums. Then everybody on a different day, you know? Yeah. And for this album, bro, we just running a sick ass studio and we'll win for a week.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, like a summer camp.
Alex Legato
Two weeks. 12 to 12, you know. So it was badass, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Like, full dedication.
Alex Legato
Yeah, hell, it was full dedication for.
Thomas Dopas
This catching up on earth, but like on your phone at the end of the day. Oh, that happened today.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. Sounds awesome.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, hell yeah, that sounds awesome.
Mario Neal
Yeah.
Alex Legato
So we. That. We got that coming.
Mario Neal
Do you like to collabs with like, American rappers and singers and stuff, or like, like English speaking? I should say.
Alex Legato
Definitely, bro. Yeah. I feel like it's a good time. And we did that, like when. I feel like we did that when we started. We did a collab with Too short.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, nice.
Alex Legato
Yeah. And back then it was. I feel like it was too early. People wasn't ready, you know, if you.
Thomas Dopas
Dropped it now it have.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. Because I feel like right now is that it's the time for. I feel like Mexican music is one of the top music right now.
Thomas Dopas
People are. Yeah, major mainstream top 10.
Alex Legato
Exactly. I know. And. And I see everybody getting into it, you know, like everybody wants to be solved. Everybody.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, it's a good way to put it.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Now is a good time.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, I think it's because, I mean, what percentage of America is. Is Mexican American now? Like, a giant percentage, dude.
Alex Legato
It's a big percentage.
Thomas Dopas
It's a big percentage, man. It's not gonna stop, right? Unless everybody's like, yo, we're gonna be abstinent. Like, it's not happening, dude. So I feel like that's why the past couple years, it's just. I mean, it's. It's blowing. It's exploding. So for you to say that, like. Yeah. And now it's the time. I mean, that's. That's the time. Because, like, I don't know Spanish music, right? So I asked my little sister. I'm the only one don't speak Spanish. My family, my little sisters are fluent.
Mario Neal
Because they're their mom who like this.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah. Their mom speaks full Spanish. I mean, she's from Mexico. She don't speak English. So everyone in my house is, like, bilingual but me. It's like, damn it.
Mario Neal
Everyone in the city.
Thomas Dopas
Everyone in the damn city. Yeah, basically. So it's not me because my mom's a Jewish lady, right. So I'm praised by her. So when it comes to the Spanish music, I'm always, like, completely lost. So I asked my little sisters, and then I showed her. She goes, oh, yeah. What about. I'm gonna go. Oh, that's all it. Let's Go. Because I don't know Spanish music. And my little sisters are tapped into this, you know, I mean, they're all. They just went to that Cali bash. Kelly. Yeah, they were just there. I mean, they just. They came up for the night. Like, they're into it, dude. So I had to ask, like, I don't know Spanish music, man, Concrete about you.
Alex Legato
I was actually asking my homie on the way. On the way here, because I was sure that you speak Spanish, you know, and my English is not that good, like, and I get nervous sometimes.
Thomas Dopas
It's great, bro.
Alex Legato
So it gets worse, you know, I was asking Howard, hey, Spanish. I don't know. He was telling me, like, I don't know if you get nervous just answering the Spanish, you know, but. And then when you told me you don't know. You don't know Spanish.
Thomas Dopas
Ready for this? About 40 minutes before you got here, because I met you at an event and it was loud. We didn't say. I'm like, oh, what's the things for? Watching, couldn't hear. And then I look at your page because all Spanish I called him. And JJ was, does this fool speak English? I swear to God, I thought the.
Alex Legato
Same thing, but opposite.
Thomas Dopas
I couldn't hear him. Everything's in Spanish on his page. Dude, are we about to get into. Me and Marty going, dog, what the fuck is happening?
Alex Legato
I'm so happy, dude.
Thomas Dopas
You guys did the same. That's ridiculous.
Mario Neal
Oh, oh, check this out real quick.
Thomas Dopas
Very true. See.
Alex Legato
His little accent?
Thomas Dopas
That's AI doing a Russian accent in Spanish.
Alex Legato
That's crazy, bro. AI is crazy, crazy, crazy.
Thomas Dopas
But I'll just sent it to my grandma. She's like, wow, how crazy to hear like. I know, right? It's like, I'm part of the family now, man. No, A.I. r.I.P. dude, just do it in that the whole time. I'm so happy you said that. I wasn't going to say what I. What we. What I called for and you. All right, let's go.
Alex Legato
Okay, hold on. Before we go.
Thomas Dopas
Before we go, before we get into another topic, I want to ask my. My stepmom, all her sons, my step brothers are all from Mexico. They all grew up. Why does it feel like all. Everybody that comes from Mexico? But yeah, we got horses. What the is happening?
Alex Legato
Everyone's.
Thomas Dopas
Did you have horses where you live?
Alex Legato
You know what, bro?
Thomas Dopas
You did. Huh?
Alex Legato
Right now I got. When I. When I got here, I got out because of. I'm about to exchange a corrido for a horse.
Thomas Dopas
I want to get to that level, bro. I really. I want a rhino. I really want a rhino, dude.
Alex Legato
No, bro, I love horses, bro. Like, when I was little, I used to go to school in a horse, you know, like for. Yeah, for. For, like, for like.
Thomas Dopas
Where'd you park it?
Alex Legato
And I'll tell you where. Okay. We in the soccer field. Shut the up.
Thomas Dopas
You know, the stereotype getting higher and higher.
Alex Legato
The goalie, bro. In the golly thing, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Really?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Were you the only kid that did that?
Alex Legato
No. You're probably the coolest. No, there was a few.
Thomas Dopas
No. If you're any age under 12, you're like, you have a.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Eight, nine years old.
Thomas Dopas
Parents trust the. Out of here.
Alex Legato
Hell yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Hey, take this.
Mario Neal
Was it your horse? Like, it was your horse?
Alex Legato
No, it was my. My. My. My ts. My Thea's husband at that time, he.
Thomas Dopas
Said, need his horse. He's like, yeah, take it to school every day.
Alex Legato
No, he had a few. Yeah, he had a few. And I feel like he had. He had like another house, you know? Like, I feel like he had another family, to be honest.
Thomas Dopas
My grandpa does.
Alex Legato
Well, I don't know, you know, Like, I was. I was little that time, so that's.
Thomas Dopas
Another layer of Spanish.
Alex Legato
For days, you know. And he will tell me like, oh, feed him and I'll give you some. Some fetia and I'll feed the horde, you know. And then I. After that, I started grabbing the horse, you know, and then there's this day he caught me on outside in the horse, you know, when I got back, he was there. I was like, oh. He's like, hey, what's up? Where were you? You know? And I was like, oh, I was right there, you know, in the canal over there, chilling. I'm giving water to the horse. He's okay. Hey, if you want to take it, take it, you know, you can take it to school. And we're like, oh, yeah. He's like, yeah, you. You know, just. Just bring it back and. And feed him. I was like, all right. Hell yeah.
Thomas Dopas
What a responsibility. Not even, like, unborrow your car.
Mario Neal
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Let the car die.
Alex Legato
Yeah, I won't feed him every day. You know, as an eight year old.
Mario Neal
You can, like control a horse like that.
Alex Legato
Oh, yeah, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Wow, that's. That sounds fun as hell.
Mario Neal
I always thought, like, how did you. They not just take off, like, at that time, bro.
Alex Legato
Like, I used to walk from my house to school and like, halfway to school, bro. I always used to see this guy. This guy will sell ice cream too, on the weekends. But I guess during the week, this fool will. I don't know how to say it, bro. Like, you know wild horses, right? Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Dam them.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. He will do that to them, you know, free money. He will be fighting the horses every day if we try to. Try to calm them down, you know? And then there's this day that I ask him, like, where do you get these horses from? You know? He's like, oh, I get it from. From these place. You know, I just go and I grab him, I bring him, I calm them down. And then when they're. When they. When they're. When they're super come down and they're domesticated, like, I'll sell them. And I was like, like. And at that time, bro, my dream was to go to that place and grab my own horse. You know, that's.
Thomas Dopas
You're just stealing someone's horses. Like, where's all my horses?
Mario Neal
I'm really good at taming these horses.
Thomas Dopas
They were just chilling. I. I took the saddle off them. They were wild.
Alex Legato
No.
Thomas Dopas
But.
Alex Legato
Yeah. I never had my own horse, though. But it looks like I'm about to sick.
Thomas Dopas
I'm about to trade a horse for a song. Incredible. They better give you a cool. Or they just give you the.
Alex Legato
No, no. It's the badass horse. It's the baddest line horse. It looks nice.
Thomas Dopas
So I was right. Everyone that's ever came from Mexico, like, dude, we had horses where we live. Like, why the. Are you leaving?
Mario Neal
Damn.
Thomas Dopas
Y'all got horses out there and ranches.
Mario Neal
Every American little girl, like, my daughter, all she wants is a pony.
Thomas Dopas
Right? I didn't even think about it that way. So you grew up, all right, till you were 11. So you had. So you grew up with. On the ranch, obviously.
Alex Legato
No. Yeah. Over there, everything is around.
Thomas Dopas
Okay. I grew up with their streets is what you said.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So what's like growing up out there and then coming out over here? Because I have a lot. Every one of my cousins, besides, like, the ones my age are from Mexico. Everyone. So they tell me, like, yeah, it's better here. I'm like, all right, that's cool. But, like, what's the difference?
Alex Legato
Honestly? Honestly, bro, to me. To me was kind of different because I was super good over there, you know, the only difference is that my mom and my dad were over here. You know, they tried to bring me when I was little, and they couldn't, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Damn. She couldn't be with them. When you're a kid.
Alex Legato
Yeah. So she were. They were only Able to cross my. My. My. My two sisters and my. My little brother, which is a little bit older than me. I mean, a little younger than me. I'm the oldest. And then.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, you're the oldest.
Alex Legato
I'm the oldest.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, that seems like a lot more fair, but. Yo.
Alex Legato
No. Yeah, you're staying here. No, I'm the oldest. Yeah. So they were different. I wasn't able to. To come, you know?
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
And then I stayed with my grandma. So when I stayed with my grandma, my grandma was doing good over there, bro. Like, my grandma was boss over there, bro. And. And that was my. That was my. My. My day. Day over there, you know, like being my grandma all day. And it's a typical day with you, though.
Thomas Dopas
What's a typical day? With your life. Yeah. What are you doing? But like a little kid. A little kid day.
Alex Legato
Go to school, you know? Go to. Go to. To a school. I will go to get out of school, bro. Go home to some bombass food by my grandma, bro. After that, my grandma will have cantinas. You know what cantinas? Like a cantina. Like. Like a bar.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, I thought you meant food.
Alex Legato
No, she had bars over. She has bars over there. So we would just run it up, you know, pick up the money every day from every. From every. Candina, that was your job. My. No, I would just be my grandma, you know? Yeah. And then after that, like, she would have people selling food too, and then we'll just go collect from them. Sounds badass. Yeah, it was just. Honestly. Honestly, I was good over there. And then the music, too. I started the music over there too, like, before.
Thomas Dopas
11 years old.
Alex Legato
Yeah, actually where I'm from, bro. Like, I think I had one of the best child. Child childhoods over there. Over there. Every. Everyone is a musician over there. It's called that. Musicians Colony. Colonial Los Musicos.
Thomas Dopas
Are you serious? That's where you grew up?
Mario Neal
Yeah, it's the town.
Alex Legato
Yeah. So a lot of people in that.
Thomas Dopas
Disney Pixar movie I just watched. Everybody's a musician in the town. What is that movie called, man? I just watched. It's a Spanish town. Everybody knows me. The Coco.
Alex Legato
What?
Thomas Dopas
Thank you. I just want.
Alex Legato
Yeah, bro, it's like pretty much like Goko, bro.
Thomas Dopas
That's you.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
It's real.
Alex Legato
Damn. They stole.
Thomas Dopas
You guys need some rep, like, reparation money for that. They stole your whole vibe, dude.
Alex Legato
And then when we got to Phoenix, like, Phoenix was what's super cool to me. Like, my dream was also to come to the US and visit my mom.
Thomas Dopas
You know, like, how long were you here and they were there? Or obviously, how long were you in Mexico when they were in America?
Alex Legato
Since I was born to 11 and then I haven't gone back to Mexico.
Thomas Dopas
Wait, how? When they were like, hey, we're only gonna be able to take your sisters.
Alex Legato
How long? Oh, like what age?
Thomas Dopas
Of what age? Till 1140.
Alex Legato
Like 7 to 11.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, so you remember?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, yeah, I remember like five. So you remember at seven?
Alex Legato
Oh, yeah, I remember a lot yet.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so they're like, yo, don't worry. You're gonna collect money with grandma. You're like it. And then play your coco, and then. That's badass. So the whole town is, like, musically inclined and.
Alex Legato
Yeah, sick.
Thomas Dopas
Dude. Has anybody else came out of your town that you're like, yo, I like their music.
Alex Legato
Oh, yeah, A lot of people.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Okay.
Mario Neal
Is that where you started smoking weed?
Alex Legato
No, I started. I started smoking weeding when I got to California.
Thomas Dopas
America, dude.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Corrupted.
Mario Neal
He always talks about how much like, Mexican culture.
Thomas Dopas
That's why.
Alex Legato
That's.
Thomas Dopas
That's another whole hill I want to climb right now. My whole family, it's like, yo, yeah, you can do hard drugs, smack your wife. Don't worry. Everyone's cool with it. In my family, we smoke weed.
Alex Legato
Look, bro, you're a piece of. I want to tell you something about the weed. My first thing, we weed. So my uncle's over there in Phoenix, so they used to. They used to get access to weed, right?
Thomas Dopas
I love the way you said so.
Alex Legato
Bro. Like, there was this guy outside, like, this is me not knowing no English, no nothing. No nothing at that time. And then I got here when it was kind of like summer school. I. I got probably to the u. S. And where is it when you get out of. For some, like, May, I think.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, May.
Alex Legato
June was like May. So I used to get out of the apartment and I used to see this kid, like, shooting at the birds with one of those daisy rifles from Walmart. I don't even remember those.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, it's the first thing I had, Daisy.
Alex Legato
And then I was like, I just wanted to kick it with somebody, you know? Cuz right? There was just old people, bro. Like, all my uncles, like, no kids at all. It was just me. And then I remember the first day of school, he was like, he. He. The guy told me he never. He never spoke to me. And he's like, hey, you want to see something? And I didn't know what the. He was saying, you know? And he's like, calm, trusted the, out of him. Yeah. And then he's like, he told me marijuana or something, you know, and then he shows me something. And bro, that wasn't weed. It was like, like grass, you know? And, and I was like, oh, like. And I was like, you want some? And bro, like, I went, I, I, I went back to the apartment and I remember my uncle had a coconut, A coconut, like shell. Coconut shell with a, with weed in it. And I just grabbed a little bit of that and I went outside and I was like, like, look, weed. Yeah, bro. He went to school with school the next day he brought me out. And then what? Yeah, I wasn't in class and the security came to pick me up.
Thomas Dopas
Hey.
Alex Legato
They told my, my, my aunt at the time, like, oh, this kid, this kid is saying, this is, he didn't speak English.
Thomas Dopas
Like, he's the one with the drugs up. Dude, you don't even know what's happening and you're seeing the trouble.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
The kid was killing birds. Was he white or Mexican kid?
Alex Legato
It was white.
Thomas Dopas
How did we know?
Mario Neal
I was picturing Sid from Toy Story.
Thomas Dopas
What I was thinking too. Damn. He's murdering birds. Tries to front on you. Like, he's got some weed. You pull out weed. He gets so scared, he tells the principal, my kids, whenever I have them, never turn out made like that.
Mario Neal
Right.
Thomas Dopas
That sucks.
Mario Neal
What a disappointment.
Thomas Dopas
What a disappointment. Not in the kid with the drugs. The kid that snitched.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Mario Neal
What a bad turn event.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so that's how you got here. That sounds awesome.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
All right. So that's how you got introduced to weed. Did you smoke it with him that day?
Alex Legato
No, I didn't smoke it.
Thomas Dopas
Until you're older.
Alex Legato
Until I got to the, to California. So my mom was staying in California. My, my uncles was staying in the, in Arizona. I came to, to, to California when I came, bro, like, I just wanted to go back to, to Arizona.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, really?
Alex Legato
Yeah. So I remember I went back for a few months with my, with my uncles, and then I came back to California and then that's, that's when, that's, that's when I stayed here. And then the first time probably smoking weed was with my neighbor, one of my neighbors.
Thomas Dopas
When you're, what age did you go to California?
Alex Legato
14.
Thomas Dopas
Prime age. I mean, that's when I started smoking.
Alex Legato
Yeah. 14.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so with your neighbor, what, what can was it out of?
Alex Legato
Nah, it was, it was actually on a piece. Yeah, on the pipe. Okay.
Thomas Dopas
Most people don't. It's always had Some.
Alex Legato
Their first. No, this was a, this, this was. It was a cool neighbor.
Thomas Dopas
He's an older white guy that worked.
Alex Legato
No, no, he was, he was, he was a year older than me.
Thomas Dopas
Oh.
Alex Legato
But he would, he wouldn't go to regular school. He had probation school.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
So this was like, this was a super, super trip. Like.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, hanging out with some delinquents, bro.
Alex Legato
You just flocked to the. He's actually doing, doing life, I think right now. Yeah, he's doing live in prison right now.
Thomas Dopas
That sucks. That was not what I expected. Right now. He's actually a janitor now. He's crazy. I was expecting some.
Mario Neal
He started a bitcoin company. He's falling right now. That's okay.
Thomas Dopas
So he got you in the weed?
Alex Legato
Yeah, he got me in the weed.
Thomas Dopas
And then for me, I smoked weed once and I was like, I'm gonna wait a little bit. I don't want to keep smoking non stop. And it took me like four or five days. I was like, I think I could try it again. How long did it take you?
Alex Legato
Damn. To me. No, to me was like, I got hooked, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Instantly. I was like three days later. I'm like, before that.
Alex Legato
Like, I tried it before, but it never got me high, you know? Like.
Thomas Dopas
Were you with Mexico though?
Alex Legato
No, no, no. When I was in Phoenix and, and, and, and, and I think in high school too. Like, I mean, on, on middle school. On middle school. But it never got me high, you know? And I think I was kind of scared. Like, probably like not. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
I smoked.
Alex Legato
So that day, bro, when I was smoking with this food, like, you can't fake a pipe. I got high, bro. Like, and then I just started super cracking up, like laughing attack. Like super, super bad, bro. Like, and then since then I was like, oh, you know, like, damn. Like one of those days that you get scared of. Oh, what was that?
Thomas Dopas
You know?
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
You never forget the first.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah. And then from there it goes to.
Thomas Dopas
This picture and from there just turn into this.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah. And then the music too. You know, when, when.
Thomas Dopas
Well, you're 14, you know, you're. You're like, I like music. I make music and I smoke weed. Then you start feeling like, I'm gonna play guitar joint. Try feeling like a badass after that. All right. So your neighbor ruined it for you.
Mario Neal
Did your parents hate weed?
Alex Legato
My mom did. At a time. Yeah, bro. It wasn't. So I started actually making. Making it, you know, like when I, when I bought my first house, you know, like, that's When I feel like she started tripping. Like, okay, like this was actually doing something, you know, like, but before that, not, like, yeah, she would trip a lot. So I had, I. I even had to get like a regular job, you know, because music is good pay, bro. Like, honestly, like, at that time, I will get upset, bro, because, like, I have to have to have a job to keep my mom happy at that time. Oh. And then I wouldn't make much. You know why? Because, like, I will go. I will. I will go play in the Aramaniscu place on Friday and I will make like 600 bucks, you know, I will go play to a wedding on Saturday in a quinceanera, and I will make like 800 bucks, you know, and then I will play on Sunday to a Marisco place all day, and I will probably make like 400 bucks, you know, so that was a good weekend for me in those days. That was good for me, you know, probably 17, 17, 16. 17, 18. So I was doing good, you know, but then I was smoking weed, you know, I was getting my money, you know, I was smoking weed and then my mom was thinking I wasn't making, you know, like, oh, so, like, what? But, yeah, like, she hated it. But. But after that, like, well, I do my own thing, you know, bro, And I. I feel like she sees it now.
Thomas Dopas
I would hope so. About to put up a 10 year anniversary record, like.
Alex Legato
Yeah, but it's hard, you know, because now I got kids.
Thomas Dopas
How many kids?
Alex Legato
I got three. Oh, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, Okay.
Alex Legato
I got kids. So I don't know, how is that gonna be? How am I gonna feel, you know, because my. I feel like my. My oldest kid. Like, that fool wants super be like me, you know, like, oh, okay. Yeah, he's eight.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, he's already full grown adult. Yeah, yeah, I remember being eight. I know everything, bro.
Alex Legato
See? Yeah, exactly. You know, so, yeah, like, I don't. I don't know.
Thomas Dopas
He's gotta avoid every situation. Like, what do you mean? Weed?
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
What's weed, man?
Alex Legato
Yeah, no, he already knows, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Like, oh, with the Internet, you're done Google his own dad's name.
Mario Neal
Thomas was doing this with him.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, this is my little brother. So for 10 years straight, dude, I would hide every poster, every bong, every John will come, every spotless apartment. Now it's boxed in here.
Mario Neal
All for nothing.

My argument was always this.
Alex Legato
It's because my music, bro, like, it revolves weed, you know, like my style of like what you sing, if you go to all my albums, like, it's just weed music, bro. Like, like when I started, when I, when like I was hit, this started like on this on the second year. Like, I remember Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg posted a video listening to one of my songs. Like, rolling a blunt, you know, like, that's my style. Like, it's like, yeah, my Chevy bolts around me. You know, when I said earlier that we change stuff, like we actually, actually change stuff even in the nightclubs, bro. Like when, like I was here to start it. Like, the nightclubs were doing the much. Why? Because the people that was going to see, like, I wasn't drinking bottles, you know, they were smoking. They were, yeah. You know, like, we started that on the Mexican thing. I know on the rap thing. It was. It's always been cool to go on a club and pop some Bottles and smoke, you know, in the Mexican scene. No, that was not cool. You know, like, they wouldn't let you do that at all, you know, and right now it got normalized, you know, like, because the music came in with it, you know, like. So that's. That's what.
Thomas Dopas
I broke the ice.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
Because I don't see. Like I was telling Marty, we've been doing the show for. Just finished four years when I met Marty, when talking about my family. No, I don't let my family know I get high. Like, you're on the Internet. Like. Yeah, I'm not gonna tell them yet, though. Like, my grandma. I could do everything right.
Mario Neal
Go.
Thomas Dopas
You smoke weed. You guys are my. You might be failing right now, you guys, because my grandpa's like. He's one of those Mexican old fools. I don't drink, I don't smoke, and I work till I die. Like, he's one of those guys. If you don't, I might smack one of you guys. So for me to get high and. But you know, like, you're saying you're doing your own thing. It wasn't until I'm like, living. Doing down here, and they're like, okay, okay, now I can tell you.
Alex Legato
So you can't talk. Exactly. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Because if not, you keep it under wraps. You could be drinking and everything, but put the blood down.
Alex Legato
Yeah, they're coming.
Thomas Dopas
It's a weird thing in the Mexican culture, dude, we just so frowned upon. But that's why I was so excited to do this, because I wanted to. You're the first person I've ever seen push it like that.
Alex Legato
And honestly, I feel like it's just because us as Mexicans, like, we're not really used to talk, like, good things, you know, like. Like, I want to give you my example, you know, like, at that. I feel like at that time, like, my mom was probably tripping on me because, like, my mom never told me, like, like, she. She really never. She was too busy. So busy working, bro. Like, that. She never saw that. Oh, this is working already. Well, I'm as this, ready for some rent for the house, you know, like, or for some. For something. For something, you know, to pay something in the house. So she was thinking I wasn't making no money. And, well, over here, the homie was just smoking the whole money from the weekend, you know? Yeah, Yeah, I was just smoking good with the compass, you know, and. And not being, like, responsible at that time. Well, I was a kid, you know, but I was already making money So I feel like we gotta set like responsibilities for, for our kids, you know, like to see there's, I mean, that's when you're gonna know if some, if, if someone is gonna do something good or not. You know, like you cannot be a pothead and, and, and, and be there the rest of your life and your mom's. That's, that's, that's what the fame comes with. Oh, this smells weak. Oh, he's probably gonna be like that rest all the people that smoke. Sweet.
Thomas Dopas
You know, set an example is what you're saying.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Well, I mean, I hope once it gets normalized and I think that's all it really takes to. Yeah, the youth, the youth is always going to try to push on, on the older people, but it's once the, the 50s to 80 year olds in this, in the Mexican cult start seeing like. Oh yeah, they're talking about an award show. This guy's winning Grammys. He's talking about smoking blunts. Okay, maybe it's not as bad because like right now, future you could talk about Percocets and right? Big Pharma, remember the song? He yells big Pharma. And everybody's like, yeah, yeah. And then we said a word. Yeah, but like 20 years, you're like, what do you just say? You just say how to roll in the song. What the. So once again, like, when that. Another five years, right? Another five years. Because I'm sure you smoke joints sometimes on stage. Yeah, doesn't take too long.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it doesn't take too long, bro, to be honest. Yeah, and it's, I feel like it's getting there, you know, like the social media especially, bro, like now we got the old people on social media too, you know, so they're, they're watching and believing everything on social media though, Especially those people, you know, they believe everything on social media, bro. So they. I believe that. I believe that that's, that was the next step for them to see it like more normalized, you know, like, do.
Mario Neal
You smoke in your videos and.
Alex Legato
Yeah, you said it.
Thomas Dopas
All set.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Mario Neal
Does YouTube mess with you? Do they age? Restrict your videos?
Thomas Dopas
Great, thank you.
Alex Legato
Yeah. So.
Thomas Dopas
Do they go flag harmful?
Alex Legato
Not much, to be honest. Not much. They most, they usually a lot, but not for that. Like for guns, for the girls dancing and like that.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, I'll tell you though.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah. I'll tell you why. Yeah, well, the label will tell us like now, now we, we're working with Sony, so pretty much they gave us a lesbo of things that we shouldn't do or use. And yeah, that. That helps a lot.
Thomas Dopas
It helps a lot.
Alex Legato
Yeah. So. So we usually avoid like a lot of stuff. Like the, the back then we wouldn't, you know, but like you smoking a J, like, like that, like, and doing like singing little song. They wouldn't, they won't, they won't mess with it.
Thomas Dopas
It's because it's part of the art.
Alex Legato
Because I believe when there's a lot. Yeah, because. Yeah, no, when I was. When it's a lot of smoking content. Because I used to do a blog suit for YouTube.
Thomas Dopas
Oh yeah.
Alex Legato
Yeah, I used to do blog. I used to do blogging and they used to ban me all those for, for smoking. Taking that.
Thomas Dopas
Because at the center of the video is a.
Alex Legato
It's a drug. Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
Without being art.
Alex Legato
Exactly.
Thomas Dopas
Music. Oh, he smoked weed in a little bit.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Like, you see a lot of influencers, they'll hit a joint and then start doing a cooking video. You're like, damn, 80 million views. What the is happening? Because it's not all about that. Or you see guys start doing push ups. Hits a joint.
Alex Legato
Exactly.
Thomas Dopas
This is what I do when I wake up. Voiceover. And some skinny ass, white or black dude just doing a voiceover. Always, from what I see.
Mario Neal
What about you dabble in shrooms or anything like that?
Alex Legato
On shrooms? Damn. Yeah.
Mario Neal
Bro.
Alex Legato
Like I had a crazy experience, bro. Like, so I was like, probably like, like, like, like two years ago, like two years ago it was, it was like with the weed, you know, I always. My homies, like, they always. I always get access to him, you know, some way somehow. And I tried them, the, the little bars and stuff like that. But he never hit me, to be honest. Nothing like that. Nothing that ever hit me. So I went to a video shoot, bro, and one of the. To do a featuring with. With a guy, regular Locado is his name. And I remember somebody had. I don't know if it was him or somebody else there that had a big old bag of shrooms. And then I took a bagel back to my house, bro. And then one of my homies went to drop off some weed, whatever. This homie talks to one of my other homies. He calls me the next day, my other homie, he's like, hey, what's up? I talked to. I talked to Gompa. He told me that he went to your house yesterday and he saw some bagel shrimps return to your table. And I was like, oh, Simone, what's up? Come to the house at that time, bro, I was at the dump at the, the trash dump. Because I, I, we were cleaning my, Cleaning my mom, my mom's house. So we went, we went and dump a bagel load of trash. And I was coming back already. So I told him, you know what? Go to the house right now. Wait for me right there. I'll be there quick. I got to the house, bro. He was already there waiting for me to help me. And then I had my uncle with me. He had just got in here from Mexico. And then he, he smokes with me and everything. So we were coming and then I was, I was telling him on the way, on the way to the house, I was telling him, oh, Theo, we're gonna get to the house right now. And then the home is going to be waiting for me. I'm gonna get there, I'm gonna shower while. Shower like you offering the compa. Something to drink, you know, something downstairs, whatever. So, bro, like, this fool, my, the homie that got to the house, he had just got him back from mean. And when he was in Meoan, he asked me if I wanted something. He was at this place that I really like, this K. You know what k is? Like caramel, bro. Like, like something super good. Yeah, Bomb. And then he brought some, some from over there. And then he was like, oh, but I got you this. And I was like, oh, perfect. You know, we'll eat the shirts with this and then we'll be good. You know, bro, like, I remember there were some, There were some bagels shrooms where I never, I never seen them like that. Like, big ass shrooms. And then they were there. So I was kind of dirty, you know, I, I was coming back from the, the trash dump. I went and took a shower, bro. And then when I came back, my homie was. My, My homie was chilling right there. And then my uncle, My uncle was having like a laughing attack, like, just going at this, like. And I was like, what the. And then I was like, theo, like, how many do you eat?
Thomas Dopas
You know?
Alex Legato
And then I saw, bro, like, no, bab is like the back, the back was big. Like, this was he like three big old ungos, you know, Way more than three. Than three grams, you know? Like, yeah, so, bro, they had a super trip and I wasn't ready for that. So I had some, I had, I had some. And when it, when I realized, like, they weren't going crazy, like, damn. I was like, I just killed my high, bro. I was just taking care of them. And then my, my uncle started having a super bad trip, bro. Screaming and yeah, like pray and in the middle of the house, you know, like. And then his team want that. He wanted to tell everybody about this, you know, like, yeah, like that. He was telling me, like, what is this? What do you gave me? You know, he's like, damn, I gotta tell everybody about this. And then he will go outside and then like he will get scared and then like he will keep praying, you know, and then he really wanted to go outside, you know. And then like, bro, I live in a, in a place like. Like I don't know how to explain it. Like, I didn't want them to know about this, you know. And bro, you wanted to go outside, make a scene. Luckily, my brother got there and he was able to hold them super tight, you know.
Mario Neal
He bear hugged him.
Alex Legato
Yeah, pretty much, bro. And then that just gave him a super bad, bad, bad trip. Like, oh, why are you doing this to me? Yeah, bro, it was just bad that day.
Mario Neal
How did that end? How did he chill out? It just wore off, bro.
Alex Legato
Cut that in because it was long, bro. It was like, it was long. It was an old day thing, bro. Like, yeah, bro. It was on a Sunday, bro. Like, yeah, I remember my sister, My sister, My sister was there and she.
Thomas Dopas
She would just was.
Alex Legato
You heard the. He was praying like super loud in the middle of the house, you know, My sister came. Yeah. What's up? What is wrong with him? Me, I was, I was on a little high two, you know, he's in a good one right now. And then my sister was like the. Like, like, like she was probably. She was probably scary, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Like, are you the only one that takes like psychedelics and smokes out of your siblings? Your sisters and brother smoke?
Alex Legato
My little sister, she smokes. And, and, and she took some, some shrooms a day, but she said they didn't hit.
Thomas Dopas
She got a high tolerance.
Alex Legato
Yeah. And she's a Jung.
Thomas Dopas
So in true fashion, Mexican fashion. Is your uncle like three years younger than you?
Alex Legato
No, no, but he's four years younger than. He's like 10. Like 10 years older than me.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, that's not too much?
Alex Legato
Yeah, not that much.
Thomas Dopas
All right, I just want to make sure. Do you have an age gap of 40 years between like you and you and your little sister? My little brother's 11 right now.
Alex Legato
Oh. And yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, he's about a college student younger than me.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Okay. I just wanted to make sure.
Alex Legato
No, no, my younger sister, she's a 23 or 22, I believe. Yeah.
Mario Neal
So did you listen to like American rap as a kid or were you still listening to like, Mexican music when you were living in la?
Alex Legato
No, I always listened to Mexican music, bro, to be honest. Yeah, I started listening to fairly to. To. To English music when. When. When we actually did the too short stuff. Oh, no, no, no way after. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
You guys are in your own thing.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, wow.
Alex Legato
Yeah, no, I was.
Thomas Dopas
So you've been doing this. We. Purely in. In Spanish and it's just crossing over.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
That's a big leap, dude. Did you get any. Any lash. Any like lash back from any of like, you talking about weed a lot, bro?
Alex Legato
Like. Like that's. That's when I tell you, like, that's that. I don't wanna. I don't. I don't. I. I really don't want to sound. Sound like cocky, you know, but I feel like my band is the one that opened the door all these ways for everybody, you know, And. And. And Pastor Pluma invited me to his concert and he also said it live. Like thanks to Legal Siete for. For. For paving the. The way for us, you know, because, bro, like, we're the ones that pretty much for everybody, you know. Like the radio didn't want to play us.
Thomas Dopas
Because of it.
Alex Legato
Yeah, because of it. TV shows never wanted to with those neither, you know, like, and. And we made it happen, you know, after the people. The people wanted it. Like they played us in the radio without us paying any, you know. Like we went. Yeah, because it was popping, you know. Yeah. So. But they didn't really want. Wanted us, you know, like people didn't.
Mario Neal
Wanted us on some Cypress hell. Damn.
Alex Legato
Yeah, they didn't want. They didn't want it. To be honest, until they see that a lot of people started doing it, you know, that's when I say, like, we actually changed stuff. The. The demand was now people from. At that time, people from Mexico was doing this style, you know, People from Mexico was out doing songs about weed. And. And we changed, you know, like it was backwards back then.
Thomas Dopas
See, I wouldn't go for it.
Alex Legato
I didn't.
Thomas Dopas
I wouldn't think that the radio would be against you see. Damn. It really is taboo. Until recently, man.
Alex Legato
No, it's kind of crazy because you.
Thomas Dopas
Hear all the other Spanish. A lot of Spanish groups talk about some wild.
Alex Legato
Yeah, some wild.
Thomas Dopas
That's way worse than just smoking blunts. Yeah. Joints. So for. For you to be able to do that. How long. How long do you think it took for you to win them over? Me like, all right, now they're a household name.
Alex Legato
It took like four, four years, bro. Oh, like four years. Because after that, like they. People from. From those times, like the ones we started making featurings like Forza, like after that they started making like big numbers, you know. So the. The general went. Went up, you know, like it wasn't the same. Like back then when someone. When. When an artist from. From or regional Mexican was popping. When they will come to la, they will do like a place called Rodeo, you know. Right now when the Mexican artist pops, like, they come and they do the staples. They do. Oh, right now it's bigger. Like the audience is bigger, you know, like, there's way more people listening to Mexican music than back then.
Mario Neal
Do you do arenas at like venues that big?
Alex Legato
So for five years we did a. A tour. The did super good, bro. We did it in the whole U.S. it was called the Smo Tour, Smoke Me Out Tour. And then we had, we had. We had a few of these artists that are doing really good right now too. You know, we had a junior age in the tour. We had in the tour. We had Patronus in the tour.
Thomas Dopas
And two of those people actually know who knew exactly.
Alex Legato
They are. Yeah, they're big enough for me.
Thomas Dopas
Like, I don't even.
Alex Legato
These artists came out of this store, you know, like.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, on your.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it was my tour. Like they, they all used to open up for me, you know, at these times. And so we did that for the, for, for. For three years. Then covet hit. We stopped the year. We stopped the older year too, because it was still up. And then we did the final one on. On 2020. I don't remember. We just did an event two years ago, I believe. Another smo. And, and that was. That was really cool. We did it at the pickup theater.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
And that got sold out quick. And we're probably trying to make another tour right now, but right now, right now we got another tour with those which is working really, really good. Well, I mean, we just released the dates.
Thomas Dopas
Where can people buy tickets.
Alex Legato
Bro? To be honest, like, I'm not. I'm not sure what website is it?
Thomas Dopas
We'll put the descriptions.
Mario Neal
Yeah, Ticket Master.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. Ticket Master. Yeah, for sure. Ticket Master and Ticket On. That's. That's where they can get tickets for the tour.
Thomas Dopas
Sick. It must be kind of surreal. But yeah, I'm gonna do another one.
Alex Legato
I invite you, bro, on the LA event. Oh yeah, I want to go see that.
Thomas Dopas
What do you think it's gonna be?
Alex Legato
I'm not sure when, bro, but this year. When.
Thomas Dopas
This year though.
Alex Legato
Yeah, this year for sure. Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Oh yeah. I want to go see that.
Alex Legato
Yeah, I'll send it in mind. And it's a good experience, bro. Like I. I want you to see what I'm talking about, you know, like it's a whole. It's a, it's a, it's. It's a. It's a cool world, you know, like. Yeah, it's cool. It's cool vibes like my music and. And the people that goes like we hardly have like people fighting and like that, you know. It's just people blazing it, bro. Yeah. My advances. Just people blazing it and having a good time.
Mario Neal
Sick.
Thomas Dopas
That's awesome. You don't ever feel like we should.
Mario Neal
Know about this whole.
Thomas Dopas
Right, Man, I feel like we should. What do we do? The Smoke Me out tour.
Alex Legato
Smoke Me out tour? Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
I love it, dude.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
No, like I said, you never hear like that in this culture at all ever.
Mario Neal
How often are you in the studio after?
Alex Legato
Am I in the studio a lot, bro. Like I'm in the studio a lot. Like, like I told you. We also got a record label with my partner Ramon. So we got people right there, you know. And then yeah, we got a few artists from Mexico working on music. They send music over here to the studio and we got a producer right there in the studio compasses. So I go blazer all the time, bro. I love spending time there. But even, even if I don't got to do there, like I'll just go and blaze Wonder, you know, at the studio headquarters. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Sound like such a fun, right? Fun life right now. You gotta be like, I'll just go there and get a high.
Alex Legato
Hell yeah. And it's been like this like for a cool minute, bro. Like honestly like I really, I really love the. The. The people give us a support, you know, and we're able to do what we like, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Know for some reason I feel like the weed community in and of itself besides the music, you know. Cuz say they didn't know you like take the music out of it. There's still like a community there, right? With the, with the music in is so much, so much more connected. But the weed community is so loyal to. Yeah, they will show up to everything every time.
Alex Legato
Exactly.
Thomas Dopas
And nice. I've seen argument in our meet and greets maybe.
Alex Legato
Uhhuh.
Thomas Dopas
Nobody's fight like, you know, I love, I love that about this week.
Alex Legato
Community.
Thomas Dopas
That's the one thing that you can always guarantee Almost. That there's going to be almost no fights.
Mario Neal
Is the vast majority of your fan base Spanish speaking Americans?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So like every show you. You know who's showing up?
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, like my people, like, yeah, like my kind of fans, bro. Like, and that's what. We're doing a tour with those at the Malipas because I feel like they have the same fan base. Like, it's people that, it's young people from the U. S that they grew up over here, but they, they speak Spanish in their house, you know. But they also go to work and they listen to rap, they listen to, to, to country, to all this kind of other music, you know.
Mario Neal
What about doing a tour in Mexico?
Alex Legato
Yeah, we're working something for next year.
Mario Neal
Awesome.
Alex Legato
And we'll be there in Mexico too with the tour.
Thomas Dopas
Question, since you've seen both sides. Oh, wait, you say you haven't gone back to Mexico yet, huh? Wow, what a long.
Alex Legato
Well, your whole family's here. My whole family's here, yeah. No reason.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, I totally feel you then. Yeah, but what have you noticed from. If you haven't done this Mexican, you haven't gone the tour yet. Oh yeah, if you're gonna go tour, it's the first time going.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah. Wow.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, damn.
Alex Legato
Yeah. No, people's being waited in Mexico for us, bro. Like, like, like you don't know. Like, we get so many calls like to, to work in Mexico.
Mario Neal
Yeah, you were born for those, like out of the music town. You're Dustin back on Twitter.
Thomas Dopas
Damn, had a coco hand again. What the. That's tight as hell. Also need some money for that. So what have you noticed from the difference? Like, I'm sure you get fans at your shows that are from Mexico. They drove or flew to come to the show down here in LA or something. What do you notice the difference? Like, I see Mexico, we culture. I see American, we culture. Mexico's starting to like, get on the wave of like. Yeah, no, we did. We were dead.
Alex Legato
No, they're on it, bro. Like, yeah, like you'll be surprised, bro. Honestly, you'll be surprised. Like, I remembered a few years ago, like one of my buddies, he hit me up like somebody a company wanted to gave me, give me a. A press. To press weed, right? Oh, yeah, yeah, to press weed. And yeah, we went. It was right there by my house actually in Corona. So we went. Yeah, they, they, they treat me really nice, bro. They gave, they gave me a press and then they told me the, the. To buyers, for them it was Mexico Yeah, like the. The topic really? Yeah, like the most people buying presses for this food was people from Mexico, all that they're on it. And bro, like people all the time tells me and I, I know people here. The. The. They be getting. They be smoking the same, you know, like they be smoking the same hash hours over there in Guadalajara. Like.
Thomas Dopas
Oh yeah. Oh that's awesome. I've been seeing it, dude. Cuz I get tagged on a lot. I mean. Yeah, I get tagged in so many DMS with people smoking. I don't know what the. It says. Hit me with a paragraph. Like I don't know what it says. But in the. They seemed hyped as in the videos. I'm like probably positive. But it's always from like Portugal, Brazil, Mexico, South. Like it's all South America, dude. I just feel like there needs to be a. A type of event out there because I think. I think thousand people for sure will show up.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
Mario Neal
Do you have some places in the world?
Thomas Dopas
Yes, yes. But I'm talking about like Latin America culture.
Mario Neal
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
That shit's frowned upon. Do you ever go back to Phoenix?
Alex Legato
All the time. Yeah. Yeah, I love Phoenix, bro. One of my favorite cds to be honest.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, I never been. I passed through, got some gas and left.
Alex Legato
No, no, it's. Phoenix is badass.
Mario Neal
It's beautiful. I drove through, there was a lightning storm going down Tabletop Mountains.
Thomas Dopas
It was a lightning.
Alex Legato
Honestly, my. My dream was to make it in music and go back to Phoenix, you know. But then life changes, you know, I have kids now and then can uproot them and. Yeah, no, no. Well actually I. I have two kids with one and then another one with. With my actual girlfriend right now. Oh yeah. Yeah. It's hard, you know, like for me to be coming and going. But yeah, I love to live in Phoenix and a small kind of weed.
Thomas Dopas
You know, as long as you can. Yeah, I think pretty much moving anywhere is like. Well, I have weed.
Mario Neal
Phoenix has weed and open carry. Right?
Alex Legato
The weed is not that good to be honest, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Too dry, huh?
Alex Legato
Yeah, honestly. Yeah, I. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't think it's a thing. No, it's. It's. Cuz honestly, after smoking CWD like you go to the rest of the US bro. Like it's. It's not the same.
Thomas Dopas
Not even close.
Alex Legato
You know, like only if you're going to get the things shipped. Whenever we smoke something good out of state is cuz they. They bring it from Slate, you know, like.
Thomas Dopas
Or it's hash.
Alex Legato
Yeah, good hash. Here.
Thomas Dopas
We was ugly. That's why he made ash.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Honestly, I never. I don't think. I never. I never tried some good weed like outside of California.
Thomas Dopas
Once I tried it, it was in California though, but from somewhere else, which was weird. But it's from Maine. That little baby. That random ass state over there.
Mario Neal
So we called our shitty. If it was shitty, we'd be called it Zona. We had good. And Zona.
Alex Legato
And Zona.
Thomas Dopas
I have no idea. I just called it sucks if I don't buy weed from him anymore.
Mario Neal
Damn. I never really thought about it because that was like saying Arizona had shitty weed.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, Zona. That's why you called it that. Like errors.
Mario Neal
Like, how would.
Thomas Dopas
Arizona's not known for the fire.
Alex Legato
Let's go for Arizonas. Yeah, Arizona is going for Arizona.
Thomas Dopas
Wait, live in Arizona. Random question. Is Arizona iced tea just like the most popular drink out there? What a random question I have to ask.
Alex Legato
I never. I never had the drink.
Thomas Dopas
What? Yeah, bro. It's all a lie then. Never mind.
Alex Legato
No, yeah, for sure it's a lie.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah. Shit's not great, but it's good sometimes when you need a swisher. Only like, I'll get Arizona too.
Alex Legato
That's.
Thomas Dopas
That was my.
Mario Neal
I saw a commercial where they're like, we won't raise our prices for inflation or whatever. I respected that. That.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, hell no. Every store has a $25.
Alex Legato
Are they still $1?
Thomas Dopas
It says 99 on the camp. I always get charged $something everywhere I go.
Alex Legato
$130.
Thomas Dopas
Every liquor store I've ever been to, man.
Mario Neal
Totally get.
Thomas Dopas
Nobody abides by that.
Alex Legato
Hey, but that's. That's sick though. They. They keep the prize, you know. It's a play up price. Honestly. A doll they can't even produce. Getting out of high school, you know, going to the 7 11, getting a bagel. Arizona. Exactly. Getting ready to walk home, you know. Oh yeah.
Thomas Dopas
All right. Oh, so growing up, you. You moved to California. You said you were 14.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so you're making music. You're out here in what city?
Alex Legato
Santana.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, okay.
Alex Legato
Okay.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah. So you're in Santa Ana.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
You're out here, you're obviously making music. But are you making music where enough where people like, oh, that's what makes music. Or you just doing that by yourself?
Alex Legato
No, at that time when I. When I. When I moved back to. To Santana, actually my neighbors used to play music too. But like pretty super low key. Like they would. They Wouldn't work much, to be honest, but. But from them, like, people got to. To with me, you know, like with them, I met this guy that he actually will work a lot, like in the bars and stuff like that, you know, so he saw me.
Thomas Dopas
He.
Alex Legato
He saw me that the. That I could play the. The guitar, and he. He got me with him. So he started giving me like, little work here and there. After that, I met my other homie that plays a tuba. Then I started playing with the homie, the pleated tuba at that time. And then after that, I met another good musicians. And I was honestly, like, I was just meeting people, you know, meeting new musicians all the time.
Thomas Dopas
It's in high school.
Alex Legato
Yeah, until I got to the time. Yeah, during high school. And then we just get together, you know, play some music. Then when I got out of high school, that's when I started actually gigging. Like, okay, like, playing in. I made my own groupo at that time with my two homie that I had, my coding player homie that I had. We started making our own little thing right there, you know, for like two, three years, playing on quinceaneras and all that. Then I met my. My. My. My partner right now, Ramon, at the studio that I told you. And then from there, bro, like, we. We recorded a live album with all my songs. And honestly, bro, like, when we did that album, like, we never did it to try to live out of music. No, no. Yeah, we were trying to make some money, but not like this, you know. Like, we were just trying to be the group in LA that we. That had a lot of chamba in la, though. We were trying to make it in la. Like, we were trying to have a lot of gigs, you know, like two quinceaneras on Saturday, two parties on Sundays. Like, we wanted to be that group because there was a lot of people working like that at that time, you know, but charging. Not that much, but we wanted to charge good, you know, so we did this live album, bro, and. And my partner posted it on. On YouTube. And that blew up. You know that? Yeah, that blew up. After that, we. We did our first record deal.
Thomas Dopas
Damn. Off the YouTube. Album drop.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
Mario Neal
Was there like a lot of videos or just the audio?
Alex Legato
It was just audio. And then we did official video. It has more than that by itself. Yeah.
Mario Neal
Damn.
Thomas Dopas
You say it has mad views on the first one?
Alex Legato
Yeah. More than 100 millions.
Mario Neal
God damn.
Thomas Dopas
Wait, you get. You get monetized off that, right?
Alex Legato
Yeah. Let's go.
Thomas Dopas
All right.
Alex Legato
No, yeah, we make A living out of it, bro. Like that, that's what I tell, you know, like now we. It's cool to make a living out of, you know, like. And we honestly never did it with that intention. Like just one of the. Yeah, good girl in la, you know, but also feel like a good thing. And this is my musicians, you know. Like these fools are beast, bro. Like my lyrics with this fools is like the perfect match, you know, because this fool's. I got the same instruments for music and Ortega but like I was. It doesn't sound like nortega, you know, like oh, this sounds. I don't know how to say it, bro. Like it's a different style, you know, like it's like a flowing style. Like, like. I don't know bro, it's just different style but with the same original Mexican instruments, you know? Yeah, just give. Giving it a whole different sound to it. And then the lyrics talking about the head sometime trapping, you know, and this and that. Yeah, yeah, it just makes something a cool style.
Thomas Dopas
I mean what a, what a wild moment to like I remember my homies like hey, you should make weed on your phone. I go that would be fun. And then turn a bunch of your home. I'm gonna upload it to YouTube. Was it instant? Like you posted like Dan. Next day we have.
Alex Legato
Honestly like I didn't even know. I didn't even know like he posted it, you know. Like all of a sudden people started tagging me on Instagram at that time, like posting the beat, the, the video, the lyrics. And I was like oh like that's cool, you know. And then that's when I started getting into YouTube. I saw YouTube and then that was going up quick, bro. And it had. All of a sudden he had 100,000 views like in less than a month. We were like, what the. Like at that time, like I told you our, our music wasn't doing that good, you know. Like right now, 100,000 less than a month. You're doing super bad to be doing those numbers, you know, like cuz there's way more people listening to now. But back then, bro, that was good. I remember we used to do a barbecue every 100,000 views, you know, Cuz it was so cool for us. Like, oh, like another 1000 views on this song. Oh, you know, let's do a barbecue. Like we used to do this for, for the, for the first few hundred thousands, you know.
Mario Neal
Yeah, yeah.
Alex Legato
And bro, like, but right now like shit's way different, you know. But, but yeah, like when that went on YouTube like started popping. Then we started touring. You know like people started calling us for out from out of state like to go play Chicago with the Dallas or first sold out was or, or very first of doubt ever it was in Chicago. And that was a few months after dropping the the first album.
Thomas Dopas
You know there's such a big Mexican community in Chicago. I didn't know until this Ken told us. I didn't realize that in Chicago has.
Alex Legato
A big ass community. And honestly bro, like you'll be surprised everywhere, bro. Like, like I told you we had this smo tour with it, I believe almost a 50 states. Oh wow. And bro, like sometimes I was surprised like because I will get to the town and there was nobody, you know, like and then I will get worried like what if people doesn't show up to the event? You know, like I don't see where is people gonna come from, you know, like I don't see nobody. And bro, at night fool back, you know bag with, with, with with people, bro, like you'll be surprised. There's Mexicans everywhere, bro.
Thomas Dopas
They actually just spawned. They just popped up right now.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Hell yeah, dude. So what? Like that's why I always tell, tell people like just make. If you make stuff you like it, just do it. You weren't like, oh, we got to make it back off. You didn't even think they like, oh, if we do, that'd be cool.
Mario Neal
I love that.
Alex Legato
Yeah, that's how you have to start.
Thomas Dopas
Things, I think if you really like them.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
Or you be making music like, well, what's popular right now? And then your lyrics like, oh, how are we going to make more views? What are we going to do? And then it's different.
Alex Legato
You just overthink, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Not the same anymore.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
You probably still have hella fun. You're like, yeah, I'll go to the studio. Most artists like I'm not going to the studio if I'm recording. Like I'll just get high there.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah. And honestly bro, most of the cool things had happened on a day that I don't have to go, I didn't have to be there. And then like I was there. Like for example, my last good song that I dropped it was like five months ago. I want to say it's called on the Gas. And bro, that they're super, super really good. And it was on a day that I wasn't even had to be there and another homie was recording there and I just went smoke one, you know, and I started Writing the song. He was there. I was able. So you don't like this song? Do you want to do it together? We did it. That. She has more than 50 million plays right now on Spotify, so that. That did really good. You know, it happened on a day that I didn't have to be there. You know, I was just chilling. So most of the time happens when you don't plan it. I feel.
Thomas Dopas
Well, yeah, like, with most good things, man, people didn't like, yo, I'm gonna start playing football. I need a college, a scholarship in 10 years. Like, no play football anymore, right?
Mario Neal
Yeah, no, he was the one kid that the coach was actually driving by while he was out playing and saw him and stopped and scouted him.
Thomas Dopas
Are you from that music town in Mexico? I think you look like it.
Alex Legato
Let's go.
Thomas Dopas
Hell yeah. So people in town where you're from must be excited. Like, yeah, another one. We got another one from the town, man.
Alex Legato
Hell yeah.
Thomas Dopas
What's in the water out there? For real?
Alex Legato
No, bro, it's a cool. It's a cool time right there, bro. A lot of talented people right there, bro. You know, there's just. I feel like there's not a lot of opportunities over there, you know, but what. Whoever gets out of there. I feel like there's a lot of people, like everywhere, bro. Like right now. Oh, now. And there's like, the exposure for the people is insane, you know, And. And that's where you notice, like, oh, there's people that has talent everywhere, bro. Yeah, there's a lot of people that can do it, can make it. We can make it happen now, bro. Like, we all got the same tools, you know, like, same time nowadays. Like, you got a phone. That's it. We all got the same tools, you know, there's no excuse.
Mario Neal
Are you like, business minded? Do you have that side of you too? Or you just a straight up musician? Is there things like business things?
Alex Legato
I like business. And yeah, I like. I like, I like doing investments.
Thomas Dopas
But.
Alex Legato
But I feel like I. I spend more than what I. What I get, you know? Like, like me and my partner, we. What I meant is, like, I like my car too. So I be like, the car like, doesn't give you no money back, you.
Mario Neal
Know, you spend so much money on.
Thomas Dopas
Car, so it's not an investment.
Alex Legato
Yeah, like, no, the car is. No, but what's your favorite car? My favorite car that they.
Thomas Dopas
You drive.
Alex Legato
I have. Let me get my.
Thomas Dopas
No, go.
Alex Legato
Go for it.
Thomas Dopas
What fell? Oh. Oh, you gotta grab that.
Alex Legato
My favorite car.
Thomas Dopas
Bro, like is usually I like investments.
Alex Legato
But also mainly cars.
Thomas Dopas
I do cars. Oh, it sounds like a gambling addiction.
Alex Legato
That's what it is. What I think it is, bro, to be honest. I like Mustangs, bro. I like muscle cars.
Thomas Dopas
Oh really?
Alex Legato
Yeah, older. And I also like building cars. So I feel like that's where. Where the thing is when you started building cars and then takes a long time to build them and a lot, lot of bread too.
Thomas Dopas
This F's got stupid sick show cars. I bet the way you say it's a lot of garages. You guys have glass floors and so like what kind. What year Mustang are you talking.
Alex Legato
I have. I have. I have a few fox bodies.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, sick. Like 90s.
Alex Legato
I have a 87 and 89 and a 91. And then I have a 2016 for the track. Actually suited for the track. And then I have a. My favorite one is 65 that I build it. Everything bro, from. You did it. Yeah, we did it.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
And It's a widebody 65 with the 408 stroker engine. Yeah, I really like that one.
Thomas Dopas
Most casual. I got a fleet of sick ass. That was my favorite car until I was like 10. And then I real. And then I found Novas. Oh, I love Novas. But Mustangs was my. As a cat thought they were the coolest. Like the. Like the 64, 68, 8. That range. I thought they were the coolest thing in the world.
Mario Neal
Dude, is that what you exclusively drive?
Alex Legato
No, no, for my daily. No, for my daily I. I have a. A Raptor.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, like a truck?
Alex Legato
Yeah, a truck. Yeah.
Mario Neal
Sick.
Alex Legato
That's one thing.
Thomas Dopas
Trucks and horses.
Alex Legato
Trucks, trucking horses.
Mario Neal
Every driver horse, a horse, A lot.
Thomas Dopas
Of them inside of a tr.
Alex Legato
No, bro, I really, really want this horse, bro. Like I'm really trying to get this horse.
Mario Neal
It's got to be a lot of maintenance take care of.
Alex Legato
Well, I guess actually, actually one of my. One of my. This is why I want to get it. Cuz one of my good friends, he has a rancho, you know, he has. He. He has spots. He already has horses, you know, and he told me, he's like, oh, you know what if you buy one, bring it here and then just pay my compa. A monthly fee, you know, and. And so you can feed him, buy him food and then for. For him to walk it around every day, you know, I'm down for that.
Thomas Dopas
Oh yeah.
Alex Legato
Oh yeah.
Thomas Dopas
It's like a garage fee for your classic cars.
Alex Legato
It's like a new something, you know, like Netflix or something.
Mario Neal
It's like both of ours, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Just keep it in your house, you feed it.
Alex Legato
It's like a new subscription, you know? Yeah, different.
Thomas Dopas
Different horse.
Alex Legato
Horse.
Thomas Dopas
I love that, dude. So wait, you're clearly. I mean, you're only, like, into mustangs. That's your. But you build cars. Do you have a place here in LA that rebuilds older cars?
Alex Legato
No, I have actually a few. A few homies.
Thomas Dopas
They do a great job.
Alex Legato
I have somebody for everything. Yeah. Like, I have somebody that works on. On. On. On the engines. I have somebody that works on the body, and then I have somebody that tunes them.
Thomas Dopas
They, like. Would you say one of your cars is like a show car? Are any of them like. Damn, that shit's.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Okay, so that's. This is my question.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
I have a 86 Monte Carlo. I got it rebuilt. SS it's super sick. Who cares? Guy it off. Oh, he didn't do. It's like this. If I dumped this ash everywhere and I just wiped it like this and I cleaned the table. He didn't rebuild my. It's like, look at all this dirt over here. He didn't do a good job. It's dead in my garage right now because they rewired. They did something with the wire, with the alarm, and it keeps draining my battery, but I have to leave it plugged in. I don't want to deal with that.
Mario Neal
It took, like, two years to do it.
Thomas Dopas
So what I'm saying is, I'm asking everybody that's in the cars, do you got a guy that can fix my.
Alex Legato
I have the perfect guy to fix your guard.
Thomas Dopas
Thank you.
Alex Legato
I do, honestly.
Thomas Dopas
Thank you. I just want to pay somebody to do it.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
And nobody seems to want to do that for me.
Mario Neal
I've known you for five years.
Alex Legato
I got the perfect guy for you. Yeah. He'll rewire everything and. And nice. You know, because that's. That's dangerous, bro. Like, that's one of my. That's one of my worst fears, bro. To be honest, to get one of my cars caught on fire, because I've seen it so much, bro, like, on this, like, on the customs cars, bro. Like, I seen so many cars caught up on fire, bro. But that's when they do. Honestly, like, a car, bro, is like. Like, you can go buy any car, you know, to a dealership and, you know, she's gonna be good and has warranty, you know, because, you know, the dealer is. Yeah. You know, but when you're building. When you're building a car full, like. Like you're doing everything. Like once, once you take everything, everything from the car, the shell, you're doing everything, you know, so you gotta make sure you do everything right, because this is your life right there, you know?
Thomas Dopas
Like, I got my car back before the guy was gone. Out of the parking lot that gave me my car back. I was pressing the button to move my seat and I heard and then I went. Exploded the motor under my seat. I was looking down going, what the is that noise? And I had high top vans. Thank God the exploded and shot it all over the back of my feet. Shards of old plastic. Like the motor popped. Yeah, because they did something with the wiring and it like over char.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So I need help is what I'm saying.
Alex Legato
Yeah, no, my car is in my car. Don't drive the thing no more.
Thomas Dopas
And then you know what? And then I was driving home and I went like this to turn and it went. He goes, oh, yeah, you driving pin broke. And I go, you didn't replace it? Oh, no, we. We didn't get it in time. So that's why I don't drive it. Because the steering wheel doesn't go left to right. Goes up and down too. So when I'm turning on a big turn, I have to hold it down. I drove a hole. Like a boat. Like a boat.
Alex Legato
I have somebody's Ana bro that will. Will take care of all the animals.
Thomas Dopas
Car.
Alex Legato
Yeah, He's a really good guy and he works really, really clean on everything. Like, super. Nice. Good, good work, you know.
Mario Neal
Did you live in Santa ana in like 2013? 14? Yeah, the whole era of like all the mom and pop little dispensaries and business parks. I live in Irvine, so I used to go up Red Hill.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Mario Neal
And they're all along this little stretch that was legendary. They're all gone now. They're all corporate spots.
Alex Legato
Exactly.
Thomas Dopas
Marty's from New York were like when he came here, he's like, you can buy weed legal, not get chased. So he's like, soon as I like weed shits.
Mario Neal
Like I was buying dime bags and twenties and like I'm a daily out there.
Thomas Dopas
Going up there, easy, different. Just same country, different coast. Like how privileged we are over here to be able to smoke weed.
Mario Neal
Santa Ana's a Spot.
Alex Legato
Hell yeah, Mr. Nice Spot, my boy, to be honest. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Mr. Nice Guy did a commercial for them. Mr. Nice Guys or something, right? Is that what it's called?
Alex Legato
Yeah, Nice Guys.
Mario Neal
Did you ever go to a spot called Rascals? OG spot on Main Street.
Alex Legato
Wait, Rascal OG no, no.
Mario Neal
It's like, literally just the OG Spot. Oh. Shop in Santa Ana, to be honest.
Thomas Dopas
All right, well, nobody can see it, but you guys pulled up pretty heady, I guess some people would say.
Mario Neal
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
So davin's part of your life, obviously. I know. People will know. It's a. What is this called? Banjo. What?
Alex Legato
It's a banjo collab with. With Hoover.
Mario Neal
Can we bring it?
Thomas Dopas
Oh, yeah, yeah, bring it.
Alex Legato
It's a b. Collab with the. Who is it collabing with?
Thomas Dopas
Hold on, hold on, hold on. I think he's going to put that down first.
Alex Legato
What do you think, bro? When you take hits on. On a Harry like that, don't break.
Thomas Dopas
It, don't break it, don't break it. Don't cough with it in my hands.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
If you move your water. I got you. How prepared now?
Alex Legato
The home is prepared. Wow. That thing he has the Mexican. The Mexican dragon.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, is that what this is?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
I almost don't even want to, like, press it. Oh, my God.
Mario Neal
Can you describe to the audience what you're seeing here?
Thomas Dopas
It is fear. Kept doing. It's some lady doing the, like, the P symbol cross leg inside of, like, this big winged contraption with the Mexican dragon and, like, a bunch of stuff that you would make sushi with, like, a bunch of, like, curls of avocado and eyeballs. I don't know what to call it. It looks like a psychedelic trip that you see on shirts.
Alex Legato
Yeah, you go, you go, you go, you go. Oh, me? Yeah. Where's the cap? Perfect.
Thomas Dopas
Never dab in this position. It's very awkward. I took a knee earlier. John Laffey has cookies in his mouth or something.
Mario Neal
Healthy John.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, my God. Okay. I'm just afraid, like, my watch is gonna slip off and crack this thing or something dumb here.
Mario Neal
Is this like, one of many ridiculous pieces that you guys have?
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, yeah. This is one of many. I thought there was only one that's was like, wait, I've hit that thing before.
Alex Legato
No, these guys be pulling up to the house with crazy pieces, bro. I've been scared to die with them, to be honest.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, my God. Okay, so while this nail's heating up, you like dabbing?
Alex Legato
I like dabbing. Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
You got a rig set up at home, I'm assuming.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Okay. When for me, I took one. Hold on. This is so I can't even see your face. There we go. I was talking through the glass. I took it down for the first time. Oh. Took the couple dabs, didn't dab again for like nine months. I hated it, Couldn't stand it. I was smoking like ounce joints. Not like I was like too high. The high was disgusting. Like, to me, the 2013 was red hot. Shatter.
Alex Legato
Okay.
Thomas Dopas
Shatter titanium caps. Remember all that?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
The first time my dad was not fun. And then I just fell in love with it for you because you said not took a hit and I was hooked for you. The first dab you took, did you with it? Was it something that you just stayed away from or you did just go all in?
Alex Legato
It's because. Oh, it's been changes, you know, like my. Like my. I feel like. I feel like there was a change when I learned how to dab the right way.
Thomas Dopas
Right.
Alex Legato
The right way.
Thomas Dopas
Yep.
Alex Legato
And before, you know, like before it was hot dabs, you know, like super hot. Titanium shattered since, you know, it hurt. It hurt, bro. Like, he's. Yeah. Like, it wasn't a cool high, you know, it wasn't gross. It wasn't enjoyable. Like, it was just like. Like I feel like we just. All your pressure going to your head, you know, like had us. That. But then after, like when I. I found. When I found out about hash and. And then rosin. Right? Rosin, you know?
Thomas Dopas
You know, get stuff like this.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it was different now, you know, like. Yeah, it was. It was just a big change, you know, like when I actually find out, like how it was to be done. Yeah, like.
Thomas Dopas
Like me, I really like it, you.
Alex Legato
Know, Especially because I got kids, bro. Like in the house, you know, it's pretty convenient for me, you know, like, bro, I go to my garage and I take three. Three fat ass dabs, you know.
Thomas Dopas
Damn. For every child.
Alex Legato
And then I go back.
Thomas Dopas
Like, for real?
Alex Legato
Yeah, bro. Yeah. So it's. It's better for me, you know, And I give. I be high as you know, so.
Thomas Dopas
Isn't it so much funnier? Cuz remember when you get high, like, they like, all right, it's Christmas time. Get high and go back in. Like, nobody look at me.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
And now you're like, nobody even knows. Can't smell.
Alex Legato
Exactly, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, I dab at the. Well, now. Now everybody's chill. My family, they're like, I dab in the. In the kitchen and on Christmas. But before. Oh, sneaking sucks. Gotcha. Ready? Can we get Marty set up?
Mario Neal
You'll be all right. You were ripping earlier.
Alex Legato
How about this?
Thomas Dopas
How about have somebody come over?
Mario Neal
I could. I could move too. I mean.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, yeah. Huh?
Mario Neal
I could relocate. I could move.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, yeah. How about that? Yeah, we'll leave this here. Then we'll have Marty stand by me. John, take this somewhere down the neck. We have to clean that a little bit. I'm so nervous of this thing. Sorry, one second.
Alex Legato
Boom.
Thomas Dopas
Forget.
Alex Legato
Okay.
Thomas Dopas
Yo, you roll around with a carpet is epic. You pull that out, fools think you're Muslim or praying, and they all.
Alex Legato
Damn it.
Thomas Dopas
Oh. But yeah, five times a day. Oh, that was good. All right. Yeah, we're gonna have that. We'll have Marty come over here. Yeah, let me know when. Okay, back to what we were saying. You started dabbing. Once you start getting it normal, getting it right, then you start realizing. So for people out there, right, People might follow you. Like, oh, I love we talks about weed. Like, dabbing. I never tried dads. That fool takes dabs. Right? So for people out there that don't know dabbing, I like to say, like weeds drinking beer. If you want to take huge bombs instead of chugging a beer, dab is like taking shots. Like, chill out. So some people smoke weed and go off, crush this, and they take dabs. Never want to dab again. That's what I did. I was like, oh, dabbing. I'm gonna try it. I went red hot. Got the spin. Trying to watch Breaking Bad. Hated it. So for everyone else out there, dabbing, like, when you actually started realizing, oh, this is real dabs, do you find yourself. For everyone out there, do you find yourself smoking less weed because you're dabbing?
Alex Legato
Yeah, like me, like, I haven't bought weed in years.
Thomas Dopas
You smoke ash, man.
Alex Legato
Yeah, like, honestly, like. And like, I don't buy weed. Like, I hate rolling woods too, bro. Like. Like, I don't know. Like, I just rather take a bath, you know? Okay, but if they were rolled already, if somebody. Yeah, if somebody has a wood. Like my homies, I know they smell good too, you know, So I. I have homies. Like. Like Jay, you know, Like, I've been kicking with him every time he goes to the house. Like he has a wood or something. Like, I'll still hate it, you know, but it's not your go to. It's not something that I'll. I'll. I'll be looking for, to be honest.
Thomas Dopas
Are you. Are you rolling around, like on tour with a Puffco, with a rig or with anything?
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, see, I'm seeing.
Thomas Dopas
It's just. It's so much easier than this, but. Ah, it doesn't even compare the rip off this thing.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Not to knowing, but I'll still take.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Actually, the new Puffco is cool, bro. Like with the big chamber. The chamber, you know, it rips. Honestly, it rips. It's not the same.
Thomas Dopas
It's not the same. But there's still a great alternative.
Alex Legato
And honestly, like, me, like, I don't like him that cold.
Thomas Dopas
It was cold, right? That one was cold, right?
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah. Okay, so too, I like him a little bit hot. Not really hot like the homie.
Thomas Dopas
Wait, did you just rip off this earlier? Yeah, that was dark as hell. I was like, damn, who is this hot as hell, right when I was down already. Oh, you can see the ring of heat. Yeah, yeah, I saw it right there. Okay, so like, how much better ring? You can see it though. How much. How you think you're going through? Like, all right. No, not on tour. You're busy on tour.
Alex Legato
Oh, come here.
Thomas Dopas
Like, say you're at home and you're like, oh, the kids aren't even here.
Alex Legato
Are you going?
Thomas Dopas
Are you flying through jars too? Yeah, this way, this way.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, yeah. When. When I ain't got nothing to do. Like, yeah, I'd be diving in the.
Thomas Dopas
House just non stop, huh?
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Just because it's a good pastime. Yeah, that's what I like to say.
Alex Legato
I dab, honestly, I dab what I have, you know what I dab what I. How much you got?
Thomas Dopas
10 grand. I like that.
Alex Legato
I'll grab what I have. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Wow, that's a great thing. If you smoke a lot. I'll smoke whatever I have.
Alex Legato
And I can also go three, four days with no ding too.
Thomas Dopas
You know, people always. You're addicted. Like, I don't think you understand. I'll smoke two grams right now, but I'll go two days.
Alex Legato
No, if I want. That's. That's. That's why I say, like, I die what I have, you know? Cuz honestly, like, bro, like, that's why I don't, like, I don't like sometimes getting a lot because, like, I don't know, administrate myself, you know?
Thomas Dopas
You guys, I just picked up and realized, whoa, I. I just stood up to my mom and dad.
Alex Legato
Shut the up.
Thomas Dopas
Conquer my beers right now. As a kid.
Mario Neal
What's your favorite to watch on YouTube?
Thomas Dopas
Damn, that was like, guilty face.
Alex Legato
Like, for bro. Like, Honestly, I love YouTube.
Thomas Dopas
Is that your main.
Alex Legato
Nah, lately, Tik tok too. I like tik tok, you know, so quick you can find a lot of. You know, like in middle of the.
Thomas Dopas
Night they show you some conspiracies and crazy.
Alex Legato
Anything, bro, you search anything on tik Tok bro. And then you're talking or you're talking about something like me and you were talking about something right now. And then I go to Tik Tok and he's there.
Thomas Dopas
Give me a million dollars.
Alex Legato
Oh, yeah, right.
Thomas Dopas
Just got a zel transaction, dude. I'm telling you, these. I feel like they can see more than they say. Not even hearing. The other day he brought up a car. No, his phone brought up. No, we saw the car. We went, what is that? We saw this crazy ass car. And he scrolls for ad for that car while we're still at the stoplight. Like the thing. Saw it from my camera in my car. I don't know. Yeah, that shit's creepy, dude. You can't do nothing in your car. It's like Black Mirror can't even sell drugs in a new car. For real. Think about. They track everything in your computer. Like, oh, you went to this house eight times this week. So coke. Yeah.
Mario Neal
They can put together a whole timeline of your activities.
Thomas Dopas
And yeah, the cops do it. They can give it to the for. For a case. That's not fair. That's why this full drive 91 Mustangs.
Alex Legato
Y.
Thomas Dopas
It's just me, no sky then.
Alex Legato
Yes, sir.
Thomas Dopas
All right. Yo, real quick, what's the show called? It's from Mexico. It's a show where everyone's like 30 to 50, but they play like 8. 8 year olds. Come on. Everyone's a grown adult, but they all play full like little kids. The guy with the red hair, the freckles.
Mario Neal
Thank you.
Thomas Dopas
So I was talking about that show once with my homie from El Paso and he's like, that's my uncle. I'm like, no, it's not.
Alex Legato
No.
Thomas Dopas
And I was like, that guy with freckles that my grandma watches, shut up. And he pulled a picture. I'm like, oh my God, that's him with no wig on. And it was the same guy. I'm like, oh, my God, he passed away. I'm sorry.
Alex Legato
No, he hasn't.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, the guy with freckles.
Alex Legato
You did already?
Thomas Dopas
Yeah. Long.
Alex Legato
Yeah. I didn't know.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, I'm sorry I broke your heart. It's new to me. So just happen.
Alex Legato
No, they didn't know he. That he. He died.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, I brought it up. I was like, you see that guy passed away. That's so sad talk.
Alex Legato
Everybody.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, I don't speak Spanish.
Alex Legato
Every Mexican. Yeah, for sure.
Thomas Dopas
I just remember my grandma, everybody laughing like, he's not a kid. I. I was a kid. Like, that's Not a kid. I don't know that. And then the one blonde lady, the blonde judge lady that speaks Spanish, my.
Alex Legato
Grandma, just the out of her.
Thomas Dopas
She's so mean. She'll put you in your place, though. Hey, man, my grandma put subtitles on sometimes for me.
Alex Legato
Like.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, that's what she said. Or they'll come out for like DNA. It's like a. Yeah, it's like a big ass courtroom. Don't let you sock each other. I've seen get socked in the face on that show. That's the only two shows I know.
Alex Legato
That's it.
Thomas Dopas
That's all I know.
Alex Legato
Yeah, that's louder also.
Thomas Dopas
She watched Just Mad.
Mario Neal
So it's like Jerry Springer meets Judge Judy basically, is what I'm hearing.
Thomas Dopas
It's not like she lets him duke it out, but sometimes she like, you're a piece of mom. But like not cussing. Yeah, they go hard on that show.
Alex Legato
It's a crazy show.
Thomas Dopas
It is a crazy show, dude.
Alex Legato
And then at the end, she. She always wraps it up with the gifting them like a gito sangu.
Thomas Dopas
What's that?
Alex Legato
It's a little car where you. Where you can sell sandwiches.
Thomas Dopas
Are you shitting me?
Alex Legato
No, it's for.
Thomas Dopas
She gives them that. I've never made it to the end.
Alex Legato
At the victim. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Then I'm sorry your uncle did that. Here's a. Here's a ice cream truck.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Mario Neal
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
No matter what the case is, she's.
Alex Legato
Getting a taco truck after this.
Mario Neal
Yeah, that's a tight gift.
Thomas Dopas
It's a part of.
Alex Legato
You know what?
Thomas Dopas
If I had that in my house, I'd ride around that to the kitchen and back.
Alex Legato
It'd be kind of hard, Kaya.
Thomas Dopas
It would be kind of hard. My homie. This dude rented these like dinosaurs here. Like Jurassic Park. Like robotic, but they look real. But like they're like car size, like this size. A little bigger, but you can get on and ride them. I want so bad, dude. I have no use for it. But like, I would love to be like, hey, come in. I'm on a triceratops going slow as. Walk with me to the kitchen.
Mario Neal
One just walks past in the backyard. You don't say anything.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, we all take mushrooms. I just set that to Rome. What? What? Dinosaur? Oh, man. Dude, sometimes we take mushrooms on this show and it goes south so you don't do it anymore. But you said. Was the last time. You said, what two years ago where you could have had one. Have you ever had an actual good experience on them? That was your only time?
Alex Legato
No, no, no, no. I did one time old, but that was. That day was worse, bro. I did one in Big Bird. So me and. Me and three homies, we rented a cabin. We wanted to go do shrooms over there in a cabin by the lake and everything, you know? Cool. We get there, like, kind of late. We actually got there early, but we couldn't get the cabin until we find another one. So when we got the cabin, it was late already, bro. Like, talking about, like, probably like 10 it. We. We ate the shrooms or sandwiches and.
Thomas Dopas
Then peanut butter sandwiches.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah. I don't know why it's so good then, bro. We. We started chilling, making some music, right? And. And it was me and my. My homie was playing accordion and two other buddies. And then one went to sleep, and then the other one wanted to drink. And we didn't have nothing. All shrooms on shrooms. Yeah. But it didn't hit it yet, you know, like, we were good yet. Like, we were good. So worst decision, bro. We. We. We. We went to look for. For a store.
Thomas Dopas
I know in Big Bear there's, like, two stores that sell alcohol.
Alex Legato
We got lost, and then when we got lost, the shroom said up there.
Thomas Dopas
At night, were you walking?
Alex Legato
No, we were driving, bro.
Mario Neal
Nowhere.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it was annoying. Yeah. Knowing was a nightmare, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Like, oh, it sounds like a nightmare.
Alex Legato
Like, three hours lost. Imagine. And we were just going around.
Mario Neal
What did you have, like a gps?
Alex Legato
No, bro. Like, no service, no nothing. It was like. It was like 2, 3 in the morning, you know? Like, it was like in the middle of the night, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Like, and one homie's back at the spot still.
Alex Legato
One of the homies is sleeping.
Thomas Dopas
He thinks you guys are dead. Oh, if you woke up, like, you're gone, doors open.
Alex Legato
Yeah. No, we get back, and I was still sleeping. Yeah. How'd you make it back? I don't remember, bro. Honestly, it was just a nightmare. It was a nightmare feeling like, to me, I didn't want to be there. I wanted to get out of there. I don't know why I was so much thinking at that time that I had a warrant. Oh, yeah. I don't know why was my.
Thomas Dopas
The paranoia. I know I have a warrant.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. Like, I don't know why, bro. Like, I started thinking and overthinking that, like, do I have a wine? Like, have a wine, Damn. I do have a wine. Like, damn.
Thomas Dopas
I. I was convinced you. Yeah, I remember just.
Alex Legato
Just repeating that all the time as.
Mario Neal
You'Re driving Tripping out.
Alex Legato
The food was just lost, you know, the. The driving was. It hit on him too. And that was on his own thing, you know, he said he never heard me anything. Yeah, he's lost.
Thomas Dopas
Just a.
Alex Legato
Scared. Yeah. No. And after that, when I got. When I got back there, when I. When we finally get back to the. To the. To the place, I was still like for an hour still inside the car, like, damn. Thinking of my warren, you know, like, how the. Did I get worn? I decided to just get out. And then I don't remember this much, but they. My homie said that after that I went to the. To the balcony because he had like a little dot for the lake. And then I was just chilling in there like an auto, you know, like, just chilling, watching everything at night.
Thomas Dopas
Well, I'm sorry. You only remember the shitty part. Yeah, I heard. I was all peaceful on the water.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Yeah, bro.
Mario Neal
So there was no warrant?
Alex Legato
No. There was no war. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
You made up a legal paranoia.
Alex Legato
No, bro, but this time I remember this like two years ago with my uncles. That was epic, bro. Like, we always laugh about the day because it was just funny, bro. Like. And then at the end, you know, how does she gets you, like, like on your feelings, you know, like, that should make sure you're thinking about everything. Yeah, you think of. You're thankful about everything and you feel so good, you know? Well, same thing happened to him, you know? But when he was finally coming down already, like, I told him, like, what's up? Oh, no. You know what, bro? Something that I want to tell you. Like, this uncle, he likes to sing, right? And we. When he got over annoyed and praying and all this, it was a deal. Please relax, you know, because my. My sister is up there. Like, I don't want to be. To be scared.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, from that story earlier.
Alex Legato
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then he was like, okay, okay, he will start to relax, right? And I start. I grabbed my guitar, bro, and I started jamming. I was like, what's up, people? Like, sing one. You know, like, you get down because he gets down. Like, do you know who Chalino is? Sanchez. He's a big artist in Mexico. Well, whatever he. The way he sings is like, Chalino. I was sing a Chalino song. And he's like, no Chalino song. No, because right now he was so religious, you know, so he didn't want to sing no corridors. And then I start. I was like, okay, wait, I'm. I'm gonna throw you a beat and just get down, bro. This started getting down you should record that. My brother did, bro. My brother recorded a audio, man, because he, he sent that to my, to my, to my sister, you know. He wanted my sisters to hear that, bro. Like, he was getting down, I swear to you. Like something crazy, bro. Like he was just singing.
Thomas Dopas
Sing.
Alex Legato
He was singing about God, but with my beat, you know, he was going at it and then it was like five minutes of damn. Wow. Like everybody in the room were. Was like, damn, Theo. And then was feeling, he was feeling everything, bro. It was a crazy day for my uncle. At the end, he tells me like, hey, like, you know what, I'm leaving, you know, And I was like, why are you going? He's like, I'm leaving back to my house.
Thomas Dopas
I was like, what the.
Alex Legato
Like, you live here, you know? And he's like, no, I mean to my, to my house, to Mexico, you know. And I was like, what the. You going to go back to Mexico? He's like, yeah, he started getting his feelings because he's. He's over here with. He has kids over there, you know, and a wife over there. He came to work and so he, he. He got him his feelings, you know, that he misses his kids and all that, you know. So he's like, you know, I'm back. And the funny thing is like. And I was. He doesn't have a car. You know, he didn't have a car at the time. He didn't have a car at the time. And I was like walking and he's like, yeah, I. I can walk in here.
Thomas Dopas
Stubborn high ass.
Alex Legato
Yeah, he was too high. A little bit.
Mario Neal
Some forced gumpture, like.
Alex Legato
Yeah, I guess I'll just. No, but after that he took a nap, I guess and then wore off. Then when he woke up, he was my little cousin in the couch. I guess he woke up and when he woke up, finally, like in the middle of the night, he will come a little cousin. Like he. He asked my little cousin before asking him anything, he gave him a bagel kiss to my, to my little cousin, like. And my cousin was like, what the. And he's like, like, I'm. He thought he gotta die, you know. Oh yeah. He was. What the. That he asked my little cousin like, hey, what was that? You know, like, I'm glad I'm not there, you know, like, come. I love you so much.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, what was his trip like?
Alex Legato
He had a baby egg trip. Yeah, definitely try to walk back to.
Thomas Dopas
Mexico and thought he died. That's not a mushroom chip I've ever had.
Alex Legato
But bro, like Like, I told you, he ate a lot, A lot of shrooms, bro. Like, I, I. I heard what you got to eat is like an 8, right? Like 3.5. So you can have feeling it.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
You know? But, yeah, he had way more than that, bro.
Thomas Dopas
Definitely.
Alex Legato
Yeah, he had way more than that. Yeah. No, and. And I don't. I don't know if you remember I told you that the homie was waiting for me in the house, for us to. To all eat. Eat the shrooms, you know? Well, my uncle started getting. He started getting on a. On a mood that he thought that my other homie was a bad person.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, weird.
Alex Legato
He was weird, you know? And my other homie, bro, like, my other homie is big, bro. Like, huge, you know? And then me, I started tripping. I was like, what did this? When the, when the shrooms hit on this fool. Damn. Like, I'm gonna stop it. It's gonna be hard for me to stop this food, you know? This. This was huge. And then, like, my uncle will go to him, and he will be like, what are you doing here? He was telling in Spanish, like, over that, like, he would ask him, like. And then my homie would look at me like, what's up with your uncle? It's happened to me before. No, bro, this thing was crazy, bro. And I. I got to the point that I told my homie, like, fool, do me a party, you know? Like, I'm gonna have to separate you guys, you know? So I grabbed my homie and I put him in that g. Like when dogs are fighting. Okay, so when I put this in the garage, bro, like, my uncle was like, yeah, yeah. Like, get out of here. You know, like, still food. Like, it's. It made me feel, like, kind of that way, you know, kind of embarrassed of a homie.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato
My uncle wasn't a whole movie dog. Like, my uncle was, like, feeling like. Like he was a good one and he was a bad demon, you know? Like, yeah, like, get this demon out of here. You know? Like, and when he was walking to the garage, he was like, wow. Like, get out of here. You know? Like in Spanish, this. Yeah, he was saying, like, yeah.
Mario Neal
You.
Alex Legato
Know where you came from? Leave. That's what he was telling you. And then my homie was just like, you know, I waited out at that time, the shrooms didn't hit much of my other homie, you know, so he wouldn't go to the garage, bro. My other homie had a trip to in the garage. That's when I finally wanted to enjoy my. My high. When. When my uncle started kind of going to sleep, I went to the garage, my other home. And then when. When I went to the garage to see what's up my other homie, no other food was having on a good ass trip, bro. Like when I got there, like he was scared. And then the funny thing is the next day he told me. He told me what he was thinking, you know. So I got there and. And then I was. I was kind of cool, you know. So I grabbed my guitar and bro, like I remember this, this is. This. This was probably the crazy thing for me in this trip. When I grabbed my guitar, bro, I started singing some songs and what I was playing like Duffel wasn't liking it. You know, it was making this feel move like a. Like a octopus when you believe, you know. And he wasn't able to tell me, you know, he told me the next day, but right there he wasn't telling me anything. I was like, why is this movie like this? You know, I was just looking at it. I was keep singing it, you know, like, why is this moving like this? And bro, after that like I just. I got. I got up and then I. I grabbed my backpack because I had something in there. And then I wanted to raw join and I put some music in there, bro. And then I started. I started talking to these food like, what's up? We're like, my bad about my uncle. And he's like, no, no food on trip or anything. Well, whatever. The next day he tells me like, nah, f. Like I had a super bad trip. When you came in, he told me that, that he's super a favor of. Of heights. Right? You know, so behind my house there's a Vegas hill. So he's saying that when I got in, he was. He was thinking that I. That I was going to tell him like, you know what, we're going to go and we're going to jump over the hill with his backpacks, with the parachute. You know, it was my backpack. It was my regular backpack. You know, I just went and opened my backpack. And then when he saw me like, oh, this gonna tell me to do that. And then he started that. He started that. He started melting. You know, he started melting like he's one of those. And then like after that he was good. He was being acting normal. Then that when I started playing the guitar again, he got the same feeling of melting and that I wasn't stopping that he really, really wanted to tell me to stop, but he couldn't.
Thomas Dopas
Mushrooms Are fun sometimes, man.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
I was just singing. You're dying. You melting into a puddle.
Mario Neal
It sounds like a horror comedy movie. Damn near. Everybody goes off into these bad trip.
Thomas Dopas
Weird just shoots into everybody's bad trip in the room.
Alex Legato
No, but shrooms are crazy, bro. Honestly, like I, I, I feel like, like on a good session of shrooms, like you can let a lot of go.
Thomas Dopas
Oh yeah, it's a, like a flush.
Alex Legato
Yeah, it's like a flush of your brain. Yeah, yeah, I feel.
Thomas Dopas
Damn, that was a great story. I wish you could animate, dude. Oh, that'd be so fun. Animated. Your uncle melt or your friend melting and your uncle call him a demon. We had some good stories. I was like about mushrooms on this show. That was a good one.
Mario Neal
What's the, what's your goals for like the rest of the year?
Alex Legato
So right now we're gonna start a tour on April and then until December. So that's gonna be my rest of the year, bro.
Thomas Dopas
How many cities do you do or how many shows you do?
Alex Legato
We're doing 46 shows. Yeah, 46 shows. And so that's more than one.
Thomas Dopas
Like that's like three.
Alex Legato
And I think they're adding more. More? Yeah, it's every weekend almost.
Thomas Dopas
Or every weekend?
Alex Legato
Yeah, almost every weekend. So yeah, we're dropping an album too in 420. So we're just gonna be working the album the rest of the year, you know.
Thomas Dopas
So 420, you're doing a 10 year? Yep, the 10 year. And then you have the out, what, eight month tour?
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Are you going to Mexico this year?
Alex Legato
No, not this year.
Thomas Dopas
Okay.
Alex Legato
Yeah, hopefully next year. At the beginning of next year. Dude.
Thomas Dopas
Sick dude. So once again, where can everybody find your music?
Alex Legato
Like I'll see at the Everywhere, bro. Spotify. I. Everywhere. Everywhere.
Thomas Dopas
That music's play, basically.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
We'll link in the description too, just in case. Cuz I can't spell that. But you said I don't know how to spell it.
Mario Neal
Mexican collab would be sick.
Alex Legato
Ot. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Thomas Dopas
We're about to go see that fool right now.
Alex Legato
That would be cool.
Thomas Dopas
The fool's everywhere. So for you guys, new album, new tour.
Alex Legato
Good. Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Hell yeah. I know. Like I'm saying this is. The guy was like, I mean this guy has Olympics. John was telling me about him. You never know. Go out there and do some. You guys dropped on YouTube. Who would have known?
Alex Legato
Right? Right.
Thomas Dopas
For real, A free platform.
Mario Neal
What do you think? What would you be doing right now if like he never posted that? Would it have Just happened anyway the same way or you just be.
Alex Legato
I don't know, bro. I always like music, so I feel like when the place would happens, you know, like. Bro, like we don't see it because. Because we from here, we're living in la, bro. Like, it's a pleasure, bro. Like, honestly, like, I feel like it's one of those series that has badass opportunities, you know, for people. Constantly. Yeah, constantly. You know, like the big, big things happen here, bro. And. And all you have to do is be there, you know?
Mario Neal
Yeah.
Alex Legato
So if you're here already, that's a.
Thomas Dopas
That's one check, mark.
Alex Legato
That's one check. More, more, more, you know, and another chance, definitely.
Thomas Dopas
So nice, dude.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Mario Neal
100. That's why I wanted my kids to grow up out here.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Mario Neal
You don't gotta like start by trying to get there to start, bro.
Alex Legato
No, if you're good, like, you'll get there, you know, if you're good on.
Thomas Dopas
What you want and also work for that.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
A lot of talents and lazy fools that don't do it.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly.
Thomas Dopas
One other thing to say. Yeah, for nap. Sure. Good. Too damn high off that.
Alex Legato
Well, just to make sure you expose your, you know, like if you're good on what you do, expose it. And that's. I feel like that's all what we have to do. Expose what we do. People likes it already.
Mario Neal
That's the biggest block for most people is just like putting themselves out there.
Alex Legato
Yeah. And honestly, I feel like for everybody, bro, like, even for old artists, like, because me, I feel like I consider myself like an old artist. It's been 10 years that we've been. That we've been doing like tours, you know, so it wasn't like this before, like for us, I used to drop an album and does it. People will do the rest. And right now it's not the same, bro. Like, there's more than 20, 000 songs going on platforms every day. Your chances are less for people to listen to your. If you don't show it, you know. So what we gotta do now, to me now is a job. Back then it wasn't. Back then, it was. What I love to do is music. And me, I don't really like doing videos, dancing, I don't know, you know, like, that's a new exposure. You got to do tick tocks. You gotta.
Thomas Dopas
Oh, you gotta form my trends and.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. So I feel like social media is new to me. Like I gotta do it because it's part of my job now. You Know, but definitely it's not something that a lot of artists just like, you know, like. But it's a tool now and we have to use it.
Thomas Dopas
It's like an obligation.
Alex Legato
Yeah, exactly. At this point. Yeah. So pretty much that's the only thing. But we have to do it to. To show it to people, you know, because even though we got 5 million monthly listeners on. On Spotify, like sometimes they wouldn't know that we drop an album and we don't keep saying it.
Thomas Dopas
She's saturated too. There's so much out there. You could scroll and be like, well, I like that, man. But I just didn't see it.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Or not everything's shown on your Instagram. You don't see your post or your story. It is. It's not like you have to saturate your like over saturated. You just have to like reminders.
Alex Legato
Yeah.
Thomas Dopas
Consistent system reminders just not flood people.
Alex Legato
Yeah. Not to flip people, just remind reminders like you said. Yeah. Sick.
Thomas Dopas
So Spotify will link everything too. Just for everything. Anything else?
Mario Neal
Marty, this was awesome. Appreciate you coming through. This was a fun episode.
Alex Legato
Bye, brother.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah, do the story. I'm worried about my English. Well, you just told full stories. What are you talking about?
Mario Neal
Cinematic, right?
Thomas Dopas
Cinematic stories. My uncle, Demon hunter. Oh, what's your Instagram so everybody can follow it?
Alex Legato
It's Alex and also le. We.
Thomas Dopas

Alex Legato
Thank you.
Thomas Dopas
Hell yeah. Well, anything else you want to say before we get out of here?
Alex Legato
Well, just for people to remember that we're dropping an album on 420. April. On 420. Yeah. It drops I believe on the Wednesday before the 420 weekend. Cuz I believe 420 it's on the weekend is.
Thomas Dopas
Yeah.
Alex Legato

Thomas Dopas
I don't think anyone's ever brought some like that over. We've had some cool rigs here. People brought nothing like that.
Alex Legato
Thank you, insane blesser.
Thomas Dopas
Hell yeah. Thanks for being here, dude. Marty.

Beyond music, Alex shares his passion for classic cars and business investments. He describes his love for building and maintaining muscle cars, particularly Mustangs, and how this hobby complements his entrepreneurial spirit.
Alex Legato: "I love building cars. I have several Mustangs that I have meticulously worked on." (68:11)
The conversation takes a personal turn as Alex narrates his experiences with dabbing and psychedelic mushrooms. He recounts a particularly intense shroom trip that ended awkwardly, highlighting the unpredictable nature of psychedelics.
