Paris Hilton
Hey, babes, it's Paris Hilton. So I was checking my points balance in the Hilton Honors app the other day, and, yeah, I've got about a billion, which feels excessive even for me. Just kidding. You can never have too many Hilton Honors points. And I want to do something iconic this summer, so I'm giving away all my Paris points. Just find somewhere you've always wanted to stay, then go to my socials or Hilton's and tell me about it. Just make sure you're a Hilton Honors member. And I might be sending you Paris points if you. Because when you want points that make your summer even hotter, it matters where you stay.
Phil Robertson
I'm going to tell you. Hey, we have a guest here today.
Martin
Okay. You lead it.
Phil Robertson
And he's well known. Okay. Because he's the kingpin of the unashamed.
Si Robertson
That's right.
Martin
Are you the kingpin?
Alan Robertson
No, I've never been a kingpin before, but I kind of. Oh, he has been one time.
Phil Robertson
Another word. That is the instigator.
Si Robertson
Now, that's true for sure.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, I am an instigator. I will say that's true.
Martin
Still, anyone told Jace he's the kingpin?
Phil Robertson
Huh?
Martin
Have you told Jace that Al's the kingpin?
Si Robertson
He already knows.
Phil Robertson
No, it hurt Jason's feelings. I try to take it easy.
Alan Robertson
I heard, sir, that you said yesterday in public at the. At the Faith Family Freedom event, that I was the number one son in the Robertson family. I heard you said that publicly. I just want to thank you.
Phil Robertson
I felt in order.
Martin
Well, is that a rain at the can?
Si Robertson
How you moved up?
Phil Robertson
I said, hey, look. I said, I met this young lady right here when she was 14 years old. And I said, the first night she went on, I said, guess who was with her? I said, my. My brother, older brother, was dating her. But mom said. Said, you know, you go with them. And I said, hey, she's pretty sneaky. Her and Phil both. I said, because, hey, they cut. They got together even while I was around.
Si Robertson
It kind of happens like that.
Alan Robertson
Well, you know, hey, because he's right. Because two years later, guess what? Yes.
Martin
They found out.
Phil Robertson
I said, and by the way he was the best son you ever had.
Martin
And okay, so you're saying you're ranking out number one.
Phil Robertson
I see it.
Alan Robertson
And not just in birth order, but actually number one.
Martin
You're number one.
Si Robertson
You've moved up above Willie.
Phil Robertson
The older son is always the main one.
Alan Robertson
That's right. We know that.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
But now the difference is happen to you then. Yeah. I say, unlike your total poll, happened to me. As dad would say, the. The sperm count had gotten low by the time you get to the end of the line.
Si Robertson
Well, there you go. And then you got Jeff.
Alan Robertson
Then you got Jeff, who was a baby sister.
Phil Robertson
Baby.
Alan Robertson
We got Phyllis. And now he has a sister to play with. So that's terrible.
Phil Robertson
Speaking of faith, freedom and family.
Martin
That's the order we say.
Phil Robertson
That's kind of screwed up. Always mess it up.
Si Robertson
That's like.
Phil Robertson
But anyway, version, it's really nice to be celebrating 250 years.
Martin
We had a big old shebang last night.
Si Robertson
Absolutely.
Phil Robertson
Freedom.
Martin
Amen.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Martin
Have you started calling it the semi quincentennial yet?
Phil Robertson
No.
Martin
Why not?
Phil Robertson
I don't count that far and it's
Alan Robertson
way too many syllables.
Martin
He refuses to even try and say.
Alan Robertson
I had to work on it for my sermon yesterday.
Phil Robertson
Huh?
Alan Robertson
I had to work on the semi quincentennial. I had to practice it a couple of times.
Phil Robertson
Well, your assignment was good.
Alan Robertson
I want to ask you about myself.
Si Robertson
We talked mans. I talked about it yesterday on the way to faith. What does it say? Faith.
Phil Robertson
Faith, family and freedom.
Si Robertson
Freedom.
Alan Robertson
There you go.
Phil Robertson
You got it.
Alan Robertson
Yeah.
Si Robertson
Outstanding job, Al.
Alan Robertson
Well, it was, you know, it was interesting because I wasn't supposed to be here because I had a super busy week last week. But I knew that we were going to have a ton of guests coming in for that event. And a lot of times they'll come to White Surrey Road just to meet whoever they can meet. And so I wanted to be able to do that, but I really struggled over this sermon because, like, we were closing out first John. So I was technically supposed to preach that, but I just, I felt like we have so many visions. I didn't want to go there because that just was too on the nose. But then we've been in talking about freedom in the book of James for a while now. We've been locked in there and unashamed. But then this idea like SI says 200 or 250th birthday and how can you not talk about that? I mean, so I had to sort of combine all that into one.
Phil Robertson
Oh, no, I'VE been watching Levine. Life, Liberty and Levine.
Alan Robertson
Mark Levine. Yeah, well, or Levine, as you call it.
Phil Robertson
Oh, yeah, well, they got. They got to reading the Declarations of Independence and talking about the Constitution, all that. And your lesson. I always learn something that I've just didn't realize. No, you talking about Jesus. Okay.
Martin
You didn't know about him?
Phil Robertson
Well, no, no. Okay. I didn't know that he had showed us how to deal with the devil. Oh, yeah, yeah. That was.
Alan Robertson
That was my clothes. Yeah.
Phil Robertson
Because you, you just. You don't think that way. Well, the same thing was with, you know, the life, liberty and all that, you know, and I come to the conclusion, you know, because I've always said, boy, the Founding Fathers were really some sharp dudes.
Si Robertson
Godly, godly men.
Phil Robertson
But then I realized after he read it and kept saying about it, I said, you know who really wrote that? That'd be the Almighty.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, there you go.
Phil Robertson
Because when you get right down to it, a man couldn't have come up with this. Life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for a human being. I want that. A man would have never come up with that.
Alan Robertson
That's right. Because we tend to always go to the power base.
Phil Robertson
Well, corruption.
Alan Robertson
Corruption. That's exactly right.
Phil Robertson
We're too selfish. I'm not going to worry about you, you idiot. All I want is. I want everything from me. Yeah. So I look and I said, well, not only did the Holy Spirit write the Bible, guided 40 different authors to write it and stay in key and in tune and just perfect. Okay? That's why this nation is as great as it is. Yeah.
Si Robertson
All good things come from God.
Phil Robertson
God was there in the beginning.
Alan Robertson
He wrote we the people through a guy who, questionably, not sure how deep of a believer he actually was. Some people say he was a deist, but I mean, he wrote these words, we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal. And even if you just stop there, where every other country has ever been founded. Never heard anybody say that.
Phil Robertson
It ain't got that.
Alan Robertson
Then he says that they are endowed by their Creator. So we're acknowledging the Creator and the Creator and that we're equal with certain unalienable rights, that among those are life, liberty, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. My point of the sermon was the founders were brilliant size, right? And they also were, you know, they were hopeful. But the problem is, as you said, even in the United States of America, their foundation. Corruption. Yeah, but their foundation was right.
Phil Robertson
Their foundation was right because it was
Alan Robertson
on the Almighty, because it was the creator. And then. And anytime you start moving away from him, that's when you start having the issue.
Si Robertson
Well, and I think it's interesting that when Duck Dynasty started and Sai tells this story a lot, you know, y' all all got together and pulled each other to the side and said, look, here's the deal.
Alan Robertson
Am I living or remember? It's I.
Si Robertson
That's right.
Phil Robertson
Remember the Alamo like it was yesterday.
Alan Robertson
Yeah. Because I wasn't a part of the show.
Phil Robertson
Here's what most people don't realize, okay. I. I had like, three uncles.
Si Robertson
Yeah. Sigh. Hold on. But I want to find out what was said in that meeting. Because y' all wanted it to be based on God's will, right, Al?
Alan Robertson
Yeah.
Si Robertson
And. And what. Tell me about.
Alan Robertson
Well, because Willie had a great idea and it obviously was the right thing to do, but everybody was unsure, do we want to do this? Because the only examples we had to look at on television, a lot of those have not turned out well.
Si Robertson
And the families and the people that
Phil Robertson
did them, most of them there was destruction.
Alan Robertson
We didn't want to be Honey Boo Boo with beards is what I'm saying. That's what we were fearful of.
Martin
Or the Kardashians.
Alan Robertson
Or the Kardashians were.
Phil Robertson
Here was the theme of it.
Si Robertson
Were you. Were you aware that. And you probably were, that Si's uncles got rich in the oil field?
Alan Robertson
And I heard all the stories growing up.
Phil Robertson
Oh, no. Hey, and look, John Hale, okay, It ruined his life. He lost his family and everything else.
Alan Robertson
Yeah. Marriages.
Phil Robertson
Because, hey, you got to look at it. Country bumpkin, uneducated. They save up $10,000, work their tail off, save up $10,000, you know, drill an oil well. And hey, Almighty bless them, it blows the top of the derrick out. Hey, country bumpkins are instant millionaires. And with money, every comes, everything becomes available.
Si Robertson
Yeah, that's right.
Alan Robertson
And so we. We got together that night. I mean, they had been talking about it, they had talked to dad, but, you know, we got together at my house because in the decision had not been made yet whether everybody was going to do this.
Phil Robertson
What are we going to do?
Si Robertson
Right?
Alan Robertson
And so we wanted to spend some time in prayer and worship and invite the Almighty to lead that decision. And so, you know, Willie and I had talked, and so I came up with a little thing. If we did it. And I passed everybody a little magnet to go in the refrigerator that said, remember the Alamo. And I did a whole little.
Phil Robertson
That was our. That was our motto.
Alan Robertson
That was the motto. And if Somebody. Yes, because some days you were the charging force going in and some days you're the defender trying to keep them out. So either way, we had to be ready. And we all agreed that night that we were going to do the show. We at least, and I weren't on it, but they were going to do the show. We were going to be there and support. And if somebody began to go off the reservation, you were going to get a call and say, remember the album? I still have it on my refrigerator still there to this very day. And that was. That was 14 years ago.
Phil Robertson
And I. I tell this when I'm out speaking.
Si Robertson
All right, Wait, John D. What'd you say?
Alan Robertson
He said, you ever call him Eyes?
Si Robertson
I wanted to know the same thing.
Alan Robertson
Maybe.
Si Robertson
I mean, yeah, you can't tell that, I guess, but it's like Si said. I mean, the love of money is the root of all evil. And it. And it can take you into some difficult problems.
Phil Robertson
It brings everything at your feet.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Phil Robertson
Okay. And Al, Al, the theme of it was, if you remember, Al. Al just said, he said, hey, look, this is sticks to be bigger than anybody thought.
Si Robertson
Yeah. And it was.
Phil Robertson
And with that comes money.
Martin
And then it was even bigger, and
Alan Robertson
it was even bigger than ever.
Phil Robertson
And everything that comes with money, both good and evil.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Phil Robertson
And Al said, hey, we've got to be ready for it. Because guess what? When the money comes, the evil ones coming with it. Right.
Alan Robertson
And because we had seen it happen.
Phil Robertson
Like I said, because I've seen it happen to many people. Like my uncle. It ruined his life. He lost his wife and kids, all right? And it just ruined his whole life because, you know, everything's available now.
Martin
You know what I wish I had when I was Willie's assistant? Whoa, brother. I was getting phone calls, I was getting emails. It was crazy. And it was hard to follow up with everything because there was just so much I was missing. Stuff left and right. Almost got fired 50 million times. And that's why today's episode is brought to you by Quo, spelled Q U O. The business phone system. Built so you never miss a call. Quo is the number one rated business phone system on G2, and it's trusted by over 90,000 businesses. Quo makes it easy with calls, texts, voicemails and contact info all in one clean dashboard. And your whole team can pick up a conversation, see the full history and respond fast. Quo also has an AI agent that handles after hour calls, answers questions, and even books appointments. So you never miss a lead, even when your team is off the Clock. Plus that would be like when I was Willy's assistant, having my own assistant. Wow, that would have been incredible. Plus, you can integrate the tools your team already uses, like HubSpot, Zapier, Claude and more. So you can save time and stay organized. Quote would be so good here at Duck Commander. I mean, that would have been awesome. I wish we would have had it. I'd have been like, boom. Because I was always on my phone. But if I wasn't at the office, I wasn't getting those calls there. And just having that all in one spot while we were always traveling and out, man, Willie probably would have paid me enough to stay. Look, and if you're not sitting at a desk all the time, maybe you're traveling, hunting, fishing. Quo's great. Cause you can answer the calls right there and handle business from anywhere. Look, money is on the line. Always say hello with Quo. Try quo for free. Plus get 20% off your first six months when you go to quo.com. that's Q U O dot com.
Alan Robertson
What I always thought was the saving grace from the Almighty was not just those conversations, but he had already prepared us. Because for us, for Dad's wing, we had had a 35 to 40 year humility training program on the Ouachita River.
Si Robertson
Humility training program.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, exactly. It was just like Moses in the Midian. Hard work.
Phil Robertson
Hard work will do a lot of good.
Alan Robertson
It was Moses in the Midian desert. And it was like we learned by praying for fish that, you know, this thing was not about us. And Sai had his humility training program at the same time in the United States Army. Another place that will humble you, you know, because you got to answer to other people. And so that.
Phil Robertson
And that's hard to do when you're hard at it.
Alan Robertson
I always ask how many CEOs you have that made any sense. He said, two. I said, you were in for 25 years. That's a lot of guys.
Phil Robertson
Because every year you get about 35 officers above me. When I said, well, how many more still? I said, two.
Alan Robertson
I was like, that's a low percentage.
Phil Robertson
Yeah. I said the rest of them was idiots. But like I always tell people when I'm out at events, I said, the show, Duck Dynasty is really a tribute to all of the Robertsons.
Si Robertson
Oh, absolutely.
Phil Robertson
Okay. Because we live with other. Each other, I mean, for five years and most of the time you can't stand that. Okay. And we still love each other and still get together and have a good time together.
Si Robertson
I can remember when the show was you know, just at its peak. And somebody asked side out at one of these events. They said. They said, uncle Saad, do you watch the show?
Martin
No.
Si Robertson
And he started laughing. He said, ha. No. He said, I got to live that crap. I ain't gonna watch it too.
Phil Robertson
Like, I'm gonna go through it again.
Alan Robertson
It's like, ask us if we listen to our podcast. Not really, because we. We spend a lot of time doing podcasts. I certainly don't want to listen to podcasts.
Martin
Last night at the Faith Family Freedom, people were like, you know, a couple weeks ago when. When y' all were talking, I was
Alan Robertson
like, I. I don't really.
Martin
I don't. It is a very big haze if
Alan Robertson
you ask me tomorrow, what I said on here today, I might remember.
Martin
It depends on how weird we get in this room, though.
Si Robertson
Johnny D walked up to me and said, hey, sign this. I said, yeah, right. And personally, he was like, no, really, things you need to sign.
Martin
As for a Philip McMillan signature man,
Si Robertson
by the way, I just think he's,
Alan Robertson
you know, he's just kidding around.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Martin
No, but last night was amazing event. How do you know how many people ended up getting back?
Alan Robertson
You know, there were. She said today there were somewhere between 35 and 40. They got baptized there. There were a couple more yesterday. Yep. A couple of more yesterday at the church. She rat off all the states, and I don't know what she get up to. Maybe 40 states today that she.
Martin
You know, I met some people from Manitob, Manitoba.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, that's the ones that went to
Phil Robertson
Canada come up, they say, yo, meet the Swedes. The lady that was running its pictures. She said, these people are from Canada. And I said, hey, keep sending the ducks.
Alan Robertson
Well, Jay's telling me, he said, you know, it's. We're celebrating America's anniversary, right? And they were like, oh, yeah, eh. We. We love. We love America. Well, they were like.
Martin
They were like, we're nine miles from.
Alan Robertson
Yeah.
Martin
I was like, okay. Was wearing a USA shirt. I was like, I like that shirt. He goes, I'm from Canada. And I said, I don't know how to respond to this, but I'm in.
Alan Robertson
And then I heard in size. This is what I heard. I don't know if it's true or not that you got so fired up that you broke the whole microphone system and shut the power down at the event to the whole street. Yeah, the whole street. Because you were so on fire is what I heard.
Phil Robertson
That's God's power.
Alan Robertson
He's not denying it.
Phil Robertson
Remember the first boys, he went, man is limited, but with God, anything is.
Si Robertson
I went 20 minutes with no mic, and everybody could still hear him. I said, we got to get him a mic.
Phil Robertson
I just started here, and
Martin
the problem is they got you a mic and you stayed up here.
Phil Robertson
Yeah. Then when they finally come up here and got the mic, I said, now. I said, where was I? I said, cause this is starting all over because we got sound now, boys.
Alan Robertson
And I asked mom, I said, mom, how much did you talk? Because you were sat, right? And she said, with mouth of the south, how are you ever going to talk? That's what you called yourself, Mouth of the South.
Phil Robertson
I did.
Si Robertson
I did at one time, stop sign, say, let's hand Ms. K. And when I was reaching, he was like, hey, I ain't through my story yet.
Phil Robertson
No, I ain't got to the punchline yet.
Alan Robertson
It is age. You might forget the punchline. But no, mom had a. Had a blast. She totally enjoyed it. She. She keeps her house about 82 degrees because I can't hardly go in there without. So she was the only ones. Like I said, mom, were you hot? And she said, I never sweated. And I said it was 95 with a heat index of 111. Those mom never sweated.
Phil Robertson
Canadians were snuggling. Hey, like you if you walk in. In the house sometime. Right now I'm sitting in my recliner
Alan Robertson
with a blanket on me because it's so hot.
Martin
Hey, are you cold?
Phil Robertson
Old age. Get. You get. Yeah.
Si Robertson
Oh, hey. We can't stay in the same room anymore when we go to events because he wants it like 85.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Si Robertson
And I want it below 80.
Phil Robertson
I tell Philip, I said, hey, either shut it off or kick it up. And he said, what do you want to set on? I said, start at 78.
Si Robertson
What?
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Martin
78.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Si Robertson
Oh, hey. It's brutal.
Martin
Are you a lizard?
Phil Robertson
Well, no, no, because first thing I tell him, I said, hey, find me two or three quilts and put it on the bed.
Si Robertson
I take the ones off my bed and over and put it on his.
Phil Robertson
Cause they usually have the hotel rooms. Oh, you can hang meat in there, boys, and it won't spoil.
Martin
I'm not sure about that.
Alan Robertson
So the. The back to the show, the success of the show, because I was just at an event and they were talking about it and it was in North Carolina. And the most oft heard comparison for me to our show is not a reality show. It's a scripted show called Andy Griffin show. And people, it reminds them of that Show. I've heard it so many times across the country. And I agree with 100%, because in that show, you had just kind of this. People had their values, they loved each other. They had this family. You don't realize how much teaching moments there are in Andy Griffith. Oh, yeah. But it's funny because you've got. So you got Andy and you got dad, kind of the patriarch, the guiding force, always, you know, come back to the right thing. You got Aunt Bee, and you got Ms. K, you know, running everything at the house. Everybody loves to be there. And of course, you got Opie, and then you got Barney, and you got Sa, which is the element to both shows, why they're so funny and good. Right. Because it brings that element. And so I think that is the comparison. And, yeah, it's regenerational, because now you've got people discovering Andy Griffith. That show was made 60 years ago. Well, no, no, there are people watching it today. Like, I mean, they can sit down, they laugh at it. It's hilarious. It's funny. And now we got Next Generation, Duck Dynasty. Same thing.
Phil Robertson
Well, that was one of the things that when you said, okay, it was real. Okay. This was a family, and they showed their life and all the crap that comes with it, and it was real.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Phil Robertson
Well, that's the way the Robberson works.
Alan Robertson
That's right.
Phil Robertson
Now, the main question asked me is, how did y' all pull it off? He says, y' all hadn't changed a bit. I said, well, Al Phil's oldest son's a preacher, and he foresaw, you know, the shows.
Alan Robertson
And we had to stay grounded. Yeah.
Phil Robertson
You know, and then we had a meeting saying, hey, look, don't you go stupid on me thinking you're a star. Cause, hey, we're going to knock you
Si Robertson
upside the head and tell me, hey, that's accountability.
Phil Robertson
You're part of the family. Idiot.
Alan Robertson
Well, Andy Griffin was based on a town, Mount Airy, North Carolina. That was Andy Griffin. He knew that growing up, and so he wanted to tell his family story. So that's why it really is a reality show, even though it's a scripted reality show. It was really good, but now it's what people love about it. Zi. And then what's interesting is it wasn't. It wasn't religious at all, but you could tell there was something spiritual about us. And even Philip. And Philip was, like, introduced as a character.
Martin
The villain.
Alan Robertson
The villain. Yeah. But even the first time you came, you were in the Toby Redd drag on your lawnmower. And at that point, and people probably realize that's you in both characters, but you were like Otis the drunk.
Phil Robertson
Oh, no, no, no. Hey, what was so great about that Andy Griffin? No, what was so great about that? He shows up, coming on his tractor, and it's backfired all that. So I go in, I'm shaking my head and feels on his recliner, and I said, where does will he come up with these clowns?
Alan Robertson
And you bought the squirrel, didn't you know?
Phil Robertson
And I said, because that guy's priceless. And Phillips said, you know, Phil said, well, that's old. That's old Mac.
Alan Robertson
Yeah.
Phil Robertson
And I said, hey, he's my best friend. I'm with him all the time. I wasn't him. He comes in and takes off the wig. Yo strip tack toes off and all. And I said, you got me on this one
Martin
side. Did you get a lot of subscriptions on your phone?
Phil Robertson
No.
Martin
Okay, well, for the rest of America, we kind of do subscriptions.
Phil Robertson
I got a lot of them.
Martin

Si Robertson
Absolutely. And look, I just got back from London and my son's new father in law was telling me about all these subscriptions that he couldn't keep up with. And I told him about Rocket.
Martin
Hey, one thing I like. Big transaction alert. Allison goes spend something. Try not to tell me.
Paris Hilton
Ding.
Martin

Alan Robertson
And then you were reintroduced again then as McMillan the villain. But it was like Zach Stevens was on the show twice in two different. He was two different. He was the Swede.
Martin
We still get emails.
Alan Robertson
This who was the sweet. Exactly.
Martin
He was Interesting character.
Si Robertson
Yeah. I bought some guns at Ms. K's garage sale.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
From Ms. Is that what it was? I. I just remember that was like the Mountain man.
Si Robertson
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Mountain Man.
Martin
That was. Episode.
Alan Robertson
Was that pilot. Was that.
Si Robertson
I think it may have been.
Martin
I remember vividly on a Wednesday night at wfr. Al is up there and he goes, by the way, we're doing this weird thing. We're filming it. We need, like, a bunch of rednecks to come buy stuff at a garage sale. And I was like, what are they doing?
Alan Robertson
So I was recruiting at the time.
Martin
You were recruiting people just. And Millen's like, boy, wait till you see me in jorts.
Alan Robertson
Yeah. George said he had a mullet. Long mullet.
Phil Robertson
Well, I don't know. Cause Field had talked to him, he said, matt, you pull it off.
Si Robertson
Yeah. Now, your dad actually said, you're coming down, ain't you? I was like, I don't know.
Alan Robertson
So I don't know if y' all know this, but Lisa and I were actually. We thought we were going to do the show. We were. We filmed for the pilots. We were at the family dinner. If you. You got to look really careful at the end. They tried to cut us out. They couldn't quite get us out of the family dinner scene because we were there. But we realized after we had done the pilots and the show got picked up that because we had been doing the show that was on Benelli, the Outdoor Channel show, but, you know, it's a whole different schedule to film. And then all of a sudden, when the show gets picked up and they're like, well, you're going to have to film like five or six days a week. And I'm like, well, I'm preaching at the church. I can't. I couldn't possibly do this. So we had to drop out. So we thought initially we were going to do the show, and then we didn't until season four. And the only reason I got on the show is because at the end of every. And that, by now, it's a juggernaut. Like, it's obviously a huge hit.
Phil Robertson
It's like going at the top.
Alan Robertson
It's going. Season four was our biggest year. And so Mom. So at the end of every season of filming, they would get together and we would talk, tell stories and stuff. And I usually set in on those because I was pretty good. Like, you know, reminder of stories and knows all the size stuff. And so mom was like. And I was there. And mom said. They were like, Mr. Phil, you happy and, you know, he gave him a thumbs up and, you know, he going around the room and they said, Ms. Kay, are you happy? You know, with everything? She said, I'm not happy. And they were like. It shocked them because Mom's always.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
And they were like, what's. What is it, Ms. Gay? And she said, I have four sons, and they only know about three of them, and I'm not going to be happy until I was on this show.
Si Robertson
Wow.
Alan Robertson
And it was so funny because they were. And I was like, you go, mom. You know, And I was back.
Martin
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
I'm like, yeah, I'm ready to get on this train.
Martin
I'm number one.
Alan Robertson
Number one son who nobody knows about. You know, Willie and Jace are plastered all over New York City and all this stuff.
Martin
I like how you went with New York City because I was about to interrupt you and say, Walmart or Walmart. Yeah. Because they had a whole aisle to themselves. There was a Willie and Jace aisle.
Alan Robertson
The only thing I purchased of all that gear that. That A and E put out because it was theirs. It wasn't us. Nobody. Trust me. They made all the money, didn't they? So.
Phil Robertson
Oh, yeah.
Alan Robertson
But the only thing I purchased was a. Was a loofah. They had them. They had their pictures on a loofah of Willie so I could use it in the shower. And I won't tell you where, but it's. It's where he needed to be. It's where he needed to be
Phil Robertson
with Amy. She says, uncle Sa. She said, I bought one of them loofahs. And she said, but when I was in the chair, she said, I just couldn't.
Alan Robertson
She was too embarrassed.
Phil Robertson
I said, I understand it. Dollars.
Martin
The fact that y' all had loofahs is a.
Alan Robertson
Well, that's. That's a bridge too far. Let's face it. We don't really need loofahs with their picture on it.
Martin
Well, we should have stopped at the Duck. You know what I'm saying?
Alan Robertson
There they are.
Martin
We should have stopped at the Mallard and been like, duck commander.
Phil Robertson
Loofah.
Alan Robertson
Those are made to wash the extremities of your body.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Martin
Instead they were like, Ms. K. Yep. Sign her up. Sigh.
Phil Robertson
Sure.
Martin
Phil Robertson takes a bath once a week. Why not have his own loofah?
Alan Robertson
I didn't even realize mom made that thing.
Martin
Oh, yeah. There was a K. Loofah.
Alan Robertson
That's embarrassing. With the glasses and everything.
Martin
I've sold them. So I've looked at people in the eyes and said, that'll be 8.99.
Phil Robertson
Stayed in the crack.
Alan Robertson
It stayed in the crack.
Si Robertson
Willy Loofah.
Alan Robertson
I like it. Right in the middle of all that. There was SA here. The podcast did it.
Martin
Oh, no, We've talked about these before. If you type in Uncle Saloofa.
Alan Robertson
Oh, that's what it is.
Martin
Apparently there's times we talk about it.
Alan Robertson
I got you.
Martin
And apparently you can eat a loofah.
Alan Robertson
I didn't realize. No, it's an actual plant. So, yeah, it's thanks to mom episode number that I got to come on the show. And here's another thing you may not know since I'm here, I'll tell you. I don't know where we got off on this.
Martin
I'm just.
Alan Robertson
That's what happens when you sit, Martin, share. You just talk about pointless stuff. That.
Si Robertson
Yeah, that's when you come in this room.
Martin
I texted Martin, I said, al's taking your place today. I'm going to go in and say welcome back to the duck call room and listen. And inside of that, it's great.
Alan Robertson
So. So the season four premiere was my big debut. So mom is lobby. I'm on the show. At first I tried to kind of work part time at the church, but I wound up having to leave and come back to work here because now we're getting so many licensing deals a la Loofah's sunglasses, underwear, everything you can imagine. And so none of the Duck Dynasty stuff was us, but Duck Commander was also doing a lot of licensing deals too.
Martin
I found a Duck Commander cigar in my garage when I was there you go.
Alan Robertson
And it's cool to go back and find stuff we worked on. So we come on the season four premiere. It's the. I think it's the first one hour show we did and it was the season for it. And so this is the highest rated show of the whole series. And it's the one where mom and dad are celebrating their 50 years.
Si Robertson
Oh, yeah, absolutely.
Alan Robertson
And Si was the third wheel. So all the A, B and C stories. So they were going around town and side was like the third wheel date and they were kind of reenacting that. I came onto the show because the pastor, you know, somebody had to do the thing to, you know, do the renew the vows. So that was my role. And so I told Willie. So the show comes out. Biggest night we've ever had. And I'm like, willie, if you had gotten me on here earlier, there's no telling where we could have traveled. I mean, this little duck show could have been huge. We could have. We could have gone places, took over the world.
Martin
Till duck do us part was the one hour season four premiere, currently the highest rated telecast in A and E history.
Alan Robertson
Thank you.
Phil Robertson
Wow.
Alan Robertson
Thank you.
Martin
It is also the first appearance of Robertson's oldest son, Alan,
Alan Robertson
voice to John David.
Phil Robertson
That was a lot of people on the set when we filmed that. That was crying.
Alan Robertson
Oh, yeah, it was terrible.
Martin
11.77 million people watch that.
Alan Robertson
That's higher than like broadcast shows for the day. I mean, that's. It was huge. Biggest cable I'd ever seen.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
Unfortunately, one long after that, we fractured and went all with, you know, that's what happens, you know, but he starts. You start interviewing dad and then season
Martin
five comes out and they're like, who is this idiot that clearly hasn't taken a shower in months and the whole show got canceled.
Alan Robertson
That's exactly right. Joe David, come on. And it was just the opposite effect. It was a complete nosedive.
Martin
Can we talk about that? About how your dad may or may not have said some stuff. And then they were like, let's. Let's give. We're going to give Phil off, like two episodes.
Alan Robertson
Exactly.
Martin
And it just so happens to be me. And there's stuff on Twitter, though, like, who's this idiot taking the place of Phil Robertson? I was like, no, no, I'm just. I'm just trying to get Willie coffee. I'm not trying to take Phil's.
Alan Robertson
It's just a standard. It's just the devil. Now, there was a lot going on during that era, for sure. But, you know, I will say, and I was super impressed because we didn't always have the best relationship, especially dad, with the network and everybody else. But whenever this, the revival show came out, I thought, of course, dad amazingly crossed over the week the show premiered. And it was just. The timing of it was unbelievable. It happened that same week the show was coming out. And then dad crossed over. And so they did a little. They included this little scene that wasn't in the original pilot or for the new show, original episode of Willie going by there, and he just took a film crew by there and just. He wanted to just get dad to give a little thumbs up for the thing. And so they weren't. It didn't make the original thing because they didn't have the full cameras and all the setup, but they ran it anyway just to. As a thumbs up to dad, which really touched me a lot. It meant a lot to me. And then the season two premiere, which just came out, you know, recently, they Did a whole episode about dad, and then I laughed so hard. All of his old sayings.
Si Robertson
Yeah, that's the one. That's the one that I was on.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, exactly.
Phil Robertson
I was thinking I would have liked to have all the bloopers, like all the prayers that he said.
Alan Robertson
You're a living blooper.
Martin
I was about to say, you are
Alan Robertson
a living, walking blooper.
Si Robertson
Well, yeah.
Alan Robertson
And he thought that every interview. Because, you know, these shows are made around the interview bites. So you come in and everybody's lined up to do interviews for the day, and you know what they're looking for, and they'll even tell, you know, we won't try to get this bite, this bite, this bite. And so, you know, you're trying to kind of get through it as fast as you can. Except for one person. Dad.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
Who thought the interview space was the opportunity for him to share the gospel with them.
Si Robertson
Every time.
Alan Robertson
Single time he went in there, and he was like, al, they've never run it. I said, dad, they never will. I got news for you. It's never going to be on there.
Phil Robertson
And he never changed.
Si Robertson
So Phil had his own mindset about stuff. If you didn't understand Phil, then you wouldn't understand his mindset. Just like when my buddy Matt was gone for 14 and a half years, you know, out in the world. And I kept trying to go by and get him to come back to church and get him back to the Lord, and. And it was difficult, and they didn't want nothing to do with me. Okay. And I went to Phil, and I was like, phil, I. I don't know what to do. You know, I've tried everything.
Phil Robertson
I'm really concerned about him and wanted,
Si Robertson
you know, he said.
Phil Robertson
Bill said, oh, he's all right. He'll be back.
Si Robertson
Yep. Here's what you do, Mac. I mean, okay, what? Go pick him up, bring him to the house. I was like, phil, he said, he don't want anything.
Phil Robertson
He don't want to come.
Si Robertson
He said. He said. He said, oh, yeah, he'll be there. He'll do it. I went and picked him up. Me inside, took him down the fields. He's been clean and sober and back with us for what now? Over 12 years.
Alan Robertson
And it was really funny because it was just like. He just, like, instantly. It's like the prodigal son story. He came to his senses that one time with dad, and he's like, you know, you're right. I've been an idiot for 15 years. I was trying to straighten up it was just like, boom.
Phil Robertson
That was the thing about Phil's preaching. He had a knack. Was just using the correct terminology. Yeah, that was sticker guy.
Martin
Sir. What are you the king of, Sir,
Phil Robertson
I am the king of sleep.
Martin
How'd you know that's what I was going to ask you?
Si Robertson
Because he feels Helix.
Phil Robertson
Because, hey, I got me one of them Helix mattresses.
Martin
Look, don't take it from me. Take it from psy, the king of sleep. You will never sleep better than if you have a Helix mattress. I could not imagine.
Phil Robertson
Cool thing about it, you take a little test, and if you're honest, then, hey, they will match you to a tailor fitted mattress and you will sleep like a king.
Martin
My wife and I took the Helix sleep quiz. Super simple. Took about two minutes.
Phil Robertson
You can't flunk it. Unless you're dishonest.
Martin
Yeah, I'm a heavyset back sleeper who likes to roll around and move a lot. And it's soft, fluffy cloud, like the moonlight. That's what I got. And it's amazing. We've had it for like five years now, and if you came to my house and tried to take it, I
Phil Robertson
would fight you over, hey, everybody at Duck Commander has got a Helix mattress.
Martin
Sadie's got it unashamed. You heard size, say it. And helix has over 20 different mattress models, so you can find the best fit for your sleep style because everybody sleeps different. I got the sleep tracker on every night and my scores through the roof. When we were out of town a few weeks ago in Arkansas, yeah, I thought this must be what old age is. But then I got home, back to my bed, woke up feeling like spring chicken all over again. Helix makes the whole process easy too, because they ship your mattress straight to your door with free shipping in the U.S. plus, you get 120 night sleep trial, so you actually have time to make sure it's the right one for you. Go to helix sleep.com doctor for 20% off site wide, that's helixsleep.com Doug for 20% off site wide. Helixsleep.com Doug.
Si Robertson
And boldness like I've never seen before. Because when. When I was trying to study with my dad, my dad kept, you know, shutting me down. I could not get to him.
Phil Robertson
Yeah, I don't want to talk to you. Immovable.
Si Robertson
Yeah. He's like, no, no. I went to Phil, I said, phil, I said, look, I don't know, I need some help with this one, you know? And he was like, yep, that's what I thought. Mac, here's what you do, son? And he said, do this. Exactly. And I said, okay. So I go knock on the door. My dad opens up the door. I said, what do you want me to say? He said, what? I said, what do you want me to say at your funeral? And he started crying and said. I said, what's your relationship like with Jesus? And my dad never talked to me about Jesus until that one point. And it was incredible. And I went back and told Phil. I was like, it worked.
Phil Robertson
It worked.
Si Robertson
And he was like, yep, yep.
Alan Robertson
You never thought about dad as an icebreaker, but that's really what he is.
Si Robertson
When we went to the.
Alan Robertson
Like a sledgehammer to lock a lice.
Phil Robertson
Well, it's like somebody walk on a knot, you open it up, just pow, right their nose. You. You go, oh.
Si Robertson
And I. And one time. I've. The only time I ever seen Phil get excited about seeing anybody because nothing really excited him, you know, not much. We were at the Golden Moose Awards for the outdoor.
Alan Robertson
Remember Moose Awards?
Si Robertson
Yeah. Anyway.
Martin
How many people can say that, though?
Alan Robertson
And Ted, one of the greatest evangelists.
Si Robertson
So.
Phil Robertson
So the Nuge.
Si Robertson
We're sitting at a table, me and John, Phil and some other guys are sitting at a table, and Ted Nugent and his wife are over there. He said, hey, Mac. I went over there. I said, yes, sir. He said, that's old Nugent over there. I said, yes, sir, it is. He said, yep, go get him. Take him over here. I was like, just go get him. So I go. I was like, hey, Mr. Ted, would you come over and see Mr. Phil? He was like, phil Robertson. He jumped up and ran over and they.
Alan Robertson
A blood brother.
Si Robertson
Oh, man. And look, Phil was so happy. And I was just like. He just got it in his head the way.
Alan Robertson
So let me tell you this. This is a story I don't think I've ever told this one. We were doing the episode, the MIA episode with the wrestlers. It was so cold. You remember that episode? We were asked, it's the coldest I ever been in my life, was filming that episode. And it was another one hour.
Phil Robertson
They was in spandex.
Alan Robertson
They were in spandex. In fact, one of them. One of them came up. There were two young guys from Atlanta, and they were out there wrestling. And Willie walked up and he said, don't take this the wrong way, but your nipples could cut glass. Right?
Si Robertson
Who said that?
Alan Robertson
Willie. He said that to that rat.
Phil Robertson
Poor guy.
Alan Robertson
Poor guy.
Martin
You know, that was the call.
Alan Robertson
You were there.
Phil Robertson
Yeah, I.
Martin
My job was to open the door for the Wrestlers. That's. I sat there for three hours shivering, just, yeah, let him out. I did this and I was like, I'm going home.
Alan Robertson
So. So we do the whole thing. And then they didn't tell us that the producers that they had lined up Hacksaw Jim Duggan, one of our childhood heroes to come out. Now, the young guys that came out, they still look. They're young. So they look like Hacksaw Jim Duggan did like 35 years ago. Hacksaw Jim Duggan came out at about 66 years old in this cold weather.
Si Robertson
And the peanut Butter Falcon.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, and. And he had the baggy, the baggy like basketball shorts on. Not quite the same look, but his
Martin
tricep looked a little bit like size
Alan Robertson
does now, a little bit. Little flap, little dangly and. But, but look, it didn't matter. Show him none of that.
Phil Robertson
It ain't nothing.
Martin
You can throw rock a mile, by the way. For those at home wondering if we've
Alan Robertson
experimented, it's like the gun show went into the gun safe. But anyway, so Hacksaw comes out there. It didn't matter that he was flabby and all that. I mean, he was our childhood hero. And of course they had the tight shots on Jason Willie, but when they came, when he came out of the back of that truck and John David, I didn't know you were the opener. He came out of the back of that truck with that two by four on his shoulder. We went berserk because we didn't know he was going to be there. Because this guy, like we have. We had practiced more of this in our living room every Saturday night.
Phil Robertson
Oh no, Mid South. I come in on leave one time and like we like to add a fistback because you. I told him, I said, well, we didn't.
Alan Robertson
We thought everything was too loud.
Phil Robertson
Garbage.
Alan Robertson
We would do DDTs and the pile drivers and all of which explains a lot. That's why Willie's been on his head many times. And so. But I walked. So all that happened and, and we were so excited. And so they get ready. At the end of the episode, we're taking just a group shot with the wrestlers. Well, nobody can find dad or Duggan. And so everybody's looking around, where's dad? And we're all freezing, so cold. So I walked up to the. I said maybe they went to the house to get warm. I walk in, I open the door and right there in the same living room, right where the old TV used to be on us doing all our moves on the quilt you know, we had our wrestling. Dad was sitting in his chair, and Hacksaw Jim Dagan is down on his knees in front of the ottoman or the. You know, Dad's chair kicked up, and Dad's got his Bible out, and he's sharing Jesus with Doug, who was already a believer, but, like, was just listening. Like, he. But he was down on his knees like a kid. And then dad was just sharing from that chair. And that if. I wish I, you know, could have. In my mind, I see the shot, but I wish I could have taken a picture, because I thought, well, that's what it's really all about, you know, in that moment. And that was dad. That was. He never. It didn't matter who it was he
Martin
was going to get.
Alan Robertson
He was going to share. This was like our childhood hero, but he was like, come on in here, Doug, and I got to share something with you.
Si Robertson
Wow.
Alan Robertson
He was so good.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Si Robertson
His feel was so bold.
Alan Robertson
Yeah. Always. Always that and instill that in us. And I've told the story before on Unashamed, but the very first time I ever saw him shared in a public setting where he was just, like. It was a. We were in New Orleans, and it was my first time back, having been a prodigal. And that's where I was, where I. My pig pen was, you know, that I. That I left to go home. And so I had not been back to New Orleans. And this is about three years after that. I'm working for the company now. I'm going to college. Lisa and I are married, and we go into the Superdome because we had a booth there, and we were selling duck calls. And so they asked dad to speak at this little duck call seminar. And there's three or four hundred Cajuns out there, and he's underneath this sign that says Anheuser Busch, King of Beers, because they were the lead sponsor for the event.
Martin
This is one of the greatest lines.
Alan Robertson
And so he stands up and he. And he. Have I told this on here before?
Martin
I've just. Anyway, I've heard it in life.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, but. And so he. So the Cajuns are out there. They're drinking their beer. They're loving life and loving Anheuser Busch. And dad up into this point, he's just, like, doing his duck calls. But he had never, like, done what he did later in life. This is early. You know, he's still building a business, and so when he gets finished, he's kind of. You know how he used to gather up all of his stuff and put it in his bag. He's got his duck calls out there. And he looks up at the sign, and he looks back at them, and he. And he pauses. And I'll never forget, because I'm standing just off stage, and there's a guy there named Paul Dubasol who is our New Orleans duck call guy. And he reaches in and pulls out the old duct tape Bible, you know.
Phil Robertson
Oh, yeah, this thing is taped together.
Si Robertson
I remember that.
Alan Robertson
And he. And he just. And he holds it there, and he's looking out at him, and the Cajuns don't know what to think. What are you doing?
Phil Robertson
This is perfect the way he's done it.
Alan Robertson
And so he looks up at the sign and he says, boys, let me tell you something. O. Anheuser Busch, he really is the king of beers. Boy, back in the day, I drank a. Many a. One of them. He said, but I gave all that up when I found the King of kings.
Phil Robertson
Real king.
Alan Robertson
He said, that's what this is about. King of kings. And it was a kind of a murmur went through.
Phil Robertson
What a. Just.
Si Robertson
What a.
Alan Robertson
What a line.
Martin
It's unbelievable.
Alan Robertson
And then he. Then he just shared.
Martin
Jesus.
Alan Robertson
But they were so stunned, they didn't even know how to react, because a minute ago they were drinking now the. All the beers under the chair. Nobody. I mean, dad had a way of shutting the party down. I'm gonna tell you that. Si and I went with him up to Memphis one time when they were doing some spokes work for Clayton Holmes. And I mean, they had. The joint was rocking. They had this band from Memphis, and they're playing, and everybody's drinking and dancing like this. And all of a sudden, they put dad up there, and he's like, syphilis, gonorrhea, herpes, chlamydia. That's his open. He's like, let me tell you something. You get things from the evil one.
Phil Robertson
This is a dangerous place you live in.
Alan Robertson
You get things from the evil one that Clorox won't take off. And all of a sudden, it was
Martin
like, ooh, the party.
Phil Robertson
The party's over. The music has stopped.
Alan Robertson
Oh, it was so funny. So that was just his way. Sometimes like that. It was like after it was over, I was like, well, Dad, I think that ends the corporate speeching gig for you. Because Clayton Holmes, the guy's looking at me, and I was like, you asked him? I mean, this is. And what I've always said was, he's like a. He was like a. Because Trump is just like, dad, except dad is like the biblical, you know, prophetic Donald Trump. He was the same way in church. Because the people are coming to me. They're like, some of your. Like, Mammo Joe. And some of them, they'd be like, oh, I can't even sit in one of Phil's classes. He just says the most inappropriate thing. And they're coming to me because I work there. And they're like, can you get your dad? I said, I can't. Are you kidding me? I hadn't been able to say anything I want.
Phil Robertson
He's only got an own button.
Alan Robertson
That's right.
Phil Robertson
Turn him off.
Alan Robertson
You can't turn him off. I was telling the story yesterday in John David in my sermon. I was chuckling because Trump has come out with this passport. It's a. It's a. Have you seen it? The 250th edition. Of course, there's a big picture of him in it with his signature.
Phil Robertson
How sweet it is.
Alan Robertson
And then, of course, on the. On the next page is like, the founders in the 250 years. But the big picture was Trump.
Martin
It's got to be him on the.
Alan Robertson
I was laughing about it. But what he says is what's funny. It says, welcome, but be good.
Si Robertson
Yeah. Yeah.
Alan Robertson
That's what it says in the passport. Welcome, but be good. And it so reminded me of dad because, like, dad was like, I mean, what's wrong with doing good, for crying out loud? I mean, why. What is wrong. McMillan with doing good? Why would we not want to do that? I'm Art Schmanning.
Phil Robertson
I'm Madison Skinner.
Alan Robertson
I'm Eva Jovic.
Phil Robertson
I'm Decoria Moore.
Alan Robertson
Want to train like a Red Bull athlete? Tell us your fitness goals this summer to enter the Red Bull Athlete Challenge. You'll get to try each of our workouts for a chance to win an old school ultimate Red Bull experience. Think you have what it takes?
Martin
He was the only person that could even come up with the things he said. But even if you would have had the mind to say, king of Beers, King of king, he's the only one that was brave enough to do it.
Alan Robertson
That's exactly right.
Si Robertson
But his boldness has. Has really gone through the whole family and in the community, because I've heard people say, I can't believe y' all are so open with your faith and so bold and. And I'll tell you, I mean, all the guys that I hang out with on this show and the other shows, unashamed, and anything having to do with the duck call stuff they're not ashamed of their faith. And it's just normal and natural. It comes easy to us to share Jesus with people. And when Cy was at an event early on when this first started, it was some kind of big pay money deal and they had some VIPs from some casino that brings psy in and I was there with him and they got him up on stage and he's a making them laugh and they're all drinking, have a good time and he's got stories going on and he just stops while they're laughing and he says, look, he said, why don't you all just repent and turn to God? He said, that's the easiest way. Can we do that? And they're laughing and they're like this old boy. They just start clapping. They're all like, yay. Sigh. Sigh has sigh. I always appreciate you being so bold and I know now I know where it comes from. It comes from your family, you know, from your brother. But I love it.
Alan Robertson
Well, even. Even.
Si Robertson
And now you're the same way.
Alan Robertson
Even our grandparents, you know, signed dad. Mom and dad. The one thing I regret is that they didn't live long enough to see the show because they would have gotten the biggest kick out of what happened, you know, to their family.
Phil Robertson
Personally, I figured they saw it.
Alan Robertson
Yeah, maybe they did. That's right.
Phil Robertson
I'm serious.
Alan Robertson
I think all the time I watched
Phil Robertson
it on the big screen.
Alan Robertson
The big screen.
Phil Robertson
There you go. I'm serious.
Alan Robertson
I like to think you're right, because. But in our minds, that's the way they were. And they weren't like. They weren't quite as bombastic as we became, but they were the roots of it. Because of them, they were very strong in their faith.
Phil Robertson
What's so funny about that? They were Baptists and they was talking after they went to church one night and talking about something ain't right here. Mom was the one that started. She said, james, something ain't right. Yeah, but it's just. It's not. It's not, you know.
Si Robertson
Yeah.
Phil Robertson
So then they changed.
Si Robertson
Yeah, they kept studying, trying to figure whatever out.
Phil Robertson
Well, but I always wondered if Phil ever thought of himself as John the Baptist.
Si Robertson
Well, he had a mirror, didn't he?
Phil Robertson
Well, no, no, because I'm just.
Alan Robertson
Well, look, Si, he looked strange. He ate strange things. And he pointed people to Jesus. Right.
Si Robertson
That was funny.
Martin
And he was a little loud.
Phil Robertson
I'm really Jo. I've always thought, you know, just silly questions pop up my head because, you know, when you look at him, you know, I always thought about when he was telling one of his fish stories. I mean, well, I heard the motor shut off, he said, and it was right down there where I got one net. He said, so I jump in and grab a 16 gauge going there, you know. And I. I always wondered when I said, what did they think when he molded up, had this 16 gauge?
Si Robertson
They wet their pants like Al did today.
Martin
Al did walk in after he wet his pants.
Phil Robertson
No. Because he'd asked.
Alan Robertson
I got price day problems. What can I say?
Phil Robertson
Because you'd always say, oh, looks like somebody's having a fish fry. And then when he really blew him away is when. How many. Thank you coming? You know, they said, oh, about 10. He said, well, you know, he's throwing fish in the boat. You know. He said, let's put five more in there because when you grace start stinking, there's going to be 10 people showing.
Alan Robertson
Oh, he. We almost. We didn't do it miraculously like Jesus did, but we did have a moment where people kept coming to the fish fry. But we. Instead of having the miraculous recreation, me and Jace were out running nets, bringing more fish in. But we literally went from about 40 people to 200 people. We fed in one setting, which is amazing. But that, yeah, they always had those hard. But it came from my grandparents. If you want to get a good chuckle, I think you can just Google it. And I think it's Robertson mom or something on the Price is Right. But have you seen it? And that's my. My granny. But their mom at 84.
Phil Robertson
84.
Martin
Just breaking both showcases.
Alan Robertson
Tommy wrote and this so country sounded and it's so hilarious.
Si Robertson
Have you seen it?
Phil Robertson
Oh, no, no. Her and Bob. Okay.
Alan Robertson
She loved Bob.
Phil Robertson
Hey, Bob. Bob loved mom and mom loved Bob because they had a thing going when I was doing the show. And he said, yo. Because when he said marriage. You play this, said Bob. I never miss it. Me and James and we always argue about who won.
Alan Robertson
I said she had.
Phil Robertson
She said. She said, I know I'm normally win 90% of it.
Alan Robertson
She met her little game. She played. She missed by like $2. And then she nailed everything else. The showcases one, two cars.
Phil Robertson
Yeah, it was one of the deals saying, hey, MERRITT, you got 10 things here. And you got to, you know, say what they call and now. And they got them where they. They flip them down.
Alan Robertson
The mountain climber. Oh, yeah. He only yodel twice.
Phil Robertson
I mean, she said, what's that? What's that one, Merrick? Oh, that's 3.99. Bob Plumes, 3.99. You know, he said, Merrick asked about 3. Seems like you played this game before, she said. Oh, Bob, I never miss it.
Si Robertson
Come on. I want to hear Johnny say, come on down.
Martin
The Robertson Trade. America smarter than you look is a.
Alan Robertson
Exactly.
Phil Robertson
It's a real.
Alan Robertson
That's why I'm saying we should have known. Then there was something. There was some destiny for television. It was coming.
Martin
She started.
Phil Robertson
The first TV star.
Alan Robertson
She started.
Martin
That's absolutely insane.
Alan Robertson
Wow.
Phil Robertson
That's pretty. Pretty wow. It really is. But mom was a hoot now.
Alan Robertson
Well, you watched the blind, so, you know, there was.
Phil Robertson
Well, you know, because there were issues. Grandpa used to, you know, put his slippage boots on, go check his garden, come back, take a nap. Well, Mama would slip in his boots, go out there and thump a watermelon or cantaloupe and steal it and eat it.
Martin
I'm proud of you for finally saying steal it.
Phil Robertson
No, no, no, no. He'd wake up and check his garden again that afternoon, and he said, merritt, I know you're the one that. Doing it. For the life of me, I can't figure out how she was stepping the same place he had stepped.
Alan Robertson
And if you're kind of wondering why the Robertsons are crazy, my grandparents were cousins. Second cousins. And then there's that.
Martin
I don't make fun of that.
Alan Robertson
I mean, I'm just saying I'm part of the family, so I can say,
Phil Robertson
hey, we've always been a close. No.
Martin
Hey, stop that.
Alan Robertson
No, no, no.
Si Robertson
Oh, God.
Phil Robertson
We used to go to family reunion looking for a date.
Martin
Hey, stop it.
Alan Robertson
Stop. Oh, our family tree didn't fork down there.
Martin
Hey. My mom and dad met my aunt and uncle's wedding.
Alan Robertson
There you go.
Martin
We got brothers, Mary and sisters. I got cousins on. But we all got the same grand picnic.
Alan Robertson
I know y' all got a lot of double marrying each other.
Martin
There's just not a lot of people in Washdale.
Phil Robertson
Paris.
Alan Robertson
That's exactly right.
Phil Robertson
Yeah.
Alan Robertson
It's a small pool. We're like the tutors.
Martin
Well, Al, it's been great having you.
Alan Robertson
It's always a pleasure.
Martin
You've alluded to your sermon. We end with the Bible verse. And I always. I always have to, like, come up with something stupid that relates to whatever we talk about. So I get excited when a man of the word of the cloth is here.
Alan Robertson
Actually, I knew you did this, so I have several. But. But the one I wanted to close with is this. You talk about being unashamed. You talked about our life, the way. And the reason we can be unashamed of the gospel is because of this verse, one of my favorites. Hebrews 2:11. Both the one who makes men and women holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is unashamed to call them brothers and sisters.
Si Robertson
Wow.
Alan Robertson
And so that's how we can live unashamed, because first he's unashamed of us. So there's my birthday.
Phil Robertson
That's pretty wild.
Alan Robertson
Pretty wild.
Martin
Hey, you know what else is wild? Just. Just to end on this. Your brother and John the Baptist have met at this point.
Alan Robertson
That's right.
Si Robertson
Hey, that's a good thought.
Alan Robertson
That's a great, though.
Phil Robertson
How cool is that?
Alan Robertson
They're comparing.
Phil Robertson
Yeah. I guarantee you it's pretty. That close. Resemblance.
Alan Robertson
Oh, yeah. Over a pray to locusts.
Phil Robertson
Yeah, Honey. And then throw me about 10.
Martin
I'll eat a crawfish. I'm out on the locust. Crawfish, boy.
Phil Robertson
Oh, no. Hey, they're good. They're crunch. You.
Martin
You've never ate a lo.
Phil Robertson
Oh, I have, too. I. I had to. I had to.
Si Robertson
He was in the military 24 and a half years.
Phil Robertson
Look, I just picked it off a tree and then dipped it in honey and ate it.
Martin
100% not true. We'll see y' all next time. Right here in the duck call room.
Alan Robertson
Thank you for being with us, Al.
Phil Robertson
Sam.
