Sports Commentator
And we're live from the living room as Doug eyes up the match say spread. He's reaching for the buffalo wing. Perfect.
Phil
Hang on.
Sports Commentator
What's this? Oh, he's gone for a can of Pepsi too.
Phil
Incredible.
Sports Commentator
What a finish. Sensational combination. Look at the delight on his face. There's no doubt about it. It just tastes better. Match days deserve Pepsi. Food deserves Pepsi. Grab a pack of Pepsi. Zero sugar for today's match. It's poetry in motion.
Doug
Everybody pop your synthetic caffeine and let's do this.
Hunter
All right. Welcome back to the duck call room, ladies and gentlemen. We are back. Yeah. Nobody wants to talk to us, so we got Hunter back.
Doug
You say that like that's a bad thing.
Hunter
Nobody wants to talk to us.
John David
No, entirely true. Everyone's just gone.
Doug
Hey, I prefer nobody to want to talk to me.
Hunter
Absolutely.
Phil
B.
Doug
If I'm going to talk to somebody, I'd like it to be Hunter.
Hunter
Yeah.
Doug
Hunter, I want you to know this. I need. I need to. You know when your phone gets too full of text messages and you got to go delete stuff so you can take another picture? Nobody.
Hunter
I have. I have mine on auto.
Doug
Oh, no, never. You got to keep receipts in case anybody comes at you.
Hunter
I don't need receipts from 2016.
Doug
The fourth biggest conversation I had was Hunter.
John David
What?
Hunter
Oh, lots of gifts.
Doug
I deleted it.
Hunter
Pictures.
Doug
Sorry. I can't go back and prove that. But I was like. I don't really.
John David
Don't even text that. What is that?
Doug
Need all.
Hunter
What is what, Hunter?
John David
A little action figure.
Doug
You're in charge of the room, Hunter.
Phil
Oh, that Come in. The kid sent it to me.
Hunter
Oh, was that in the potholders?
Phil
No, that was in the little envelope.
Hunter
Oh, okay.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
There you go.
Hunter
Sorry.
Phil
He wrote me a nice. His mother wrote me a nice letter.
Hunter
Oh, that's nice. Well, I saying that.
Phil
Yeah, he's a big fan of mine and, you know, he thanked me for my service and.
Hunter
And gave me a little hand painted army man. I like it. That's cool, man. Toy story fives out.
Doug
So I hadn't seen it yet. My daughter's very upset with me.
Hunter
Hey, your slingshots came here.
Doug
He's so lucky it's raining. Otherwise we'd be out there chunking rocks at a well.
Phil
No, no, I gotta find me. Yeah, I gotta go to. To give me some good rocks, but I'm probably going to have to make. Make the. The only leather part I get an old boot.
Hunter
Why you think Stone got good rocks, huh?
Phil
I've seen them in his yard.
John David
Are they like the driveway gravel?
Phil
Oh, yeah, they're round and, you know,
Doug
and Stone got that good pea gravel he got.
Hunter
River rock, huh?
Doug
Yeah, that's what it's called.
Phil
I don't know where he got it, but he's got a rock in his. In his flower or K did.
Hunter
Oh, and the flyer bed. Oh, yeah, that's river rock. Yeah. Yeah, that's what they put in fly
Doug
still the man's river rocks.
Phil
Hey, I'm gonna give me a handful of them.
Hunter
I'm gonna be like, david, he didn't pay for them. Al did. You're fine. Go ahead.
Phil
Oh, I'm gonna get a few rocks. Hey, if they say something about it, I just say, hey, look.
Hunter
Hey, call me David.
Phil
Suck it up.
Hunter
Yeah, stand out there, Goliath.
John David
You actually earn those rocks.
Phil
Get out there. Get out there. And bad meth material.
Hunter
Yeah. Catch. Yes.
Doug
To be fair, if you showed up to any of our houses and took something, it would be like, well, yeah, I don't care. Yeah, you. You. You're the reason we own a lot of things.
Hunter
Yeah. Hey, anything you want in my house, you got, so maybe not anything. I gotta anything at mine.
Phil
Let me show you this. It's. This is.
Hunter
He said he needs a bigger tongue.
Phil
Well, it's. It's why it needs to be wider and it needs to be where it's flexible. This here is too stiff.
Doug
Cheap crap off. I am. Would you get that off a Teemu Martin?
Hunter
No, I got it off Amazon, but I mean, I don't know.
Phil
These are not, you know, people that know what they're doing with the sling maker.
Hunter
Well, they clipped me for $25, so I don't care. It's worth it to see whatever's going
Phil
to pay you back.
Hunter
No, I ain't worried about that.
Doug
We going to get. We got.
Hunter
This is worth $25 for what may ever happen. See? How do you let go?
Doug
I have no.
Hunter
I have no idea how to shoot one.
Phil
No, no, no, no.
Hunter
Well, like the only one that I even know how. Oh, headsets off. For those of y'. All.
Doug
He's going to.
Hunter
For those of y' all listening and not watching, I, I, I don't think
John David
you're in front of a camera.
Hunter
I strongly recommend our camera. So I get right up here in front of the tv. That way we can see what you're doing. If you're just listening, first and foremost,
Phil
you make your loop.
Hunter
You might see a loop.
Doug
You do have the bite by play, Martin.
Hunter
Okay? And I don't know that.
Phil
Hey, you get a round rock.
Hunter
Get a round rock. Round, flat rock.
Phil
Hey, it needs to be flat.
Hunter
A round, flat rock.
Phil
Arrow arrow. Dynamic.
Hunter
Aerodynamic.
Phil
He says, boys, where it don't, it don't. You know, it don't take up. It ain't bit going against the wind. It's cutting the wind.
Hunter
He cut. And then, hey, we got to cut that wind.
Doug
So we both have our phones out.
Hunter
Oh, I'm posting this today.
Phil
And then
Hunter
there wasn't a light.
Phil
Well, see, and I ain't even got it cranked up.
Hunter
Yeah, you ain't even got it cranked up.
Phil
And I ain't even got this thing. Hey, because, hey, when you get to really going, this thing will go
Hunter
that arm flat. That arm flap ain't even got to moving yet, y'.
Sports Commentator
All.
Phil
And then when you get ready to release it, all, you do. Oh, you got this in your hand.
Hunter
You let go, let go.
Phil
And hey, like I told you before, we put sticks on ours about that long. Well, once you got swinging that stick and when it got that one
Doug
angle, though, we might have to combine our videos.
Phil
Wherever that stick is pointing, that's where that rock's gonna hit.
Hunter
Normally, normally, I'd take the time to edit that video, but I'm just gonna post.
John David
Make sure to send me both of y' all angles.
Doug
I'm gone.
Hunter
I'm gonna sleep. Hey, don't worry. You can check it out on my Facebook page here in about 20 minutes.
Doug
Put your ears back on.
Phil
Yo. Phil was a pitcher in high school and in college on baseball team and, and played football through football. So when he put one of these on his hands, when you talk about throw it,
Doug
could he throw it all the way to Chick Fil A?
Phil
Probably. I'm serious.
John David
I thought you were about to.
Phil
Well, he could throw. He could throw football 100 yards. Okay.
Doug
Watching the videos we've.
Phil
Okay, you just say it. It don't look, but you go out on. Get on the field 100 yards long and watch somebody throw one. 100. It's it's. It's. You know, it's impressive once I get my slingshot made. Right? Okay, y' all have to film me. Yo, wind her up, Thor.
Hunter
Don't you worry, buddy.
Phil
Well, no, no.
Hunter
That's going to be the follow up to this one.
Phil
No, no.
Hunter
Slingshot engaged.
Phil
Yeah.
Hunter
How do we do this?
Phil
I'm saying you're going to be impressed.
Hunter
I'm already impressed. Well, no, no, I'm impressed. In the belief system that you have in place in yourself, never a doubt. I may never.
Doug
You go, I only know one other man like this, and he's 12, and he thinks he's going to be president. Full belief in anything he says.
Phil
If he gets 25 or 30 and he's president, I don't. What are you going to do?
Doug
I think he can do it.
Hunter
Let me tell you what I'm do. I'm going to go the Oval Office, and I'm going to. Hey, I'm about to go hang out with Carter.
Phil
Hey, Carter, we come to visit.
Hunter
You know how good that White House Mac and cheese going to be when he gets there? Go. Unbelievable. The whole reflecting pool will just be Mac and cheese. And I'm in on that.
Doug
That sounds a lot better. Why are people so mad about the pool? Sigh. Oh, we about to go political.
Hunter
No. Do you see the dead duck in there?
Phil
Oh, yeah.
Hunter
They said they blamed it on the. The algae killing a duck.
Phil
And I'm like, oh, I know. I don't think so.
Hunter
Well, it's a baby duck. You do realize. Well, I'm saying the chance of a baby duck making it, period, is slim. Yeah, like, they got a lot going
Phil
against, but I don't think algae is what go down, man.
Hunter
No, it ain't. Okay, but it made for a good headline. Well, you know, I just. Here's the first time in my life I've ever commented on a political post.
Doug
You did?
Hunter
Yeah, because you know who posted it? The Facebook page. Democrats. But I just went to the comments and said, can we get the same kind of energy for the prairie pothole region that actually produces wild ducks over these tame ducks, you know, and, yeah, it fell on deaf ears up in there. Nobody wants to talk about taking care of our real stuff, but somebody's pet duck done wandered over there to the reflecting pool and had a baby and died. And all of a sudden, national emergency. Never forget the one that produces all of the ducks. Now, granted, I want more ducks because I want more ducks to shoot at. I get the irony here. But I also get the Irony of y' all caring about somebody's pet mallard that got out.
Doug
Oh, there was a pet mallard in our neighborhood. Got hit by a car the other day.
Hunter
It happens. They're not smart.
Doug
I once hit a mallard going down Arkansas Road, and I was like, oh, no. Okay, he's going to get out the way. And then he turned and looked straight at the bumper of my truck and took it beak first.
Hunter
Yeah. Good for him, man.
John David
My. My aunt had a. I don't know if it was a mallard or not, but she had a pet duck in her, like, duplex apartment in Ruston and was like, oh, we need to go.
Doug
What, indoors?
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
Oh, yeah. Baby ducks are gross.
Phil
Oh, yeah.
Hunter
They crap more than they do anything.
John David
So my Aunt Brandy, she. She opened the door.
Phil
You don't want baby chickens.
John David
Timeout.
Hunter
Did you say Aunt Randy?
John David
Brandy.
Hunter
Oh, okay.
John David
The song.
Hunter
You're a fine. Yeah,
Phil
well, that's my mom's favorite. Peace, Brandy. That's good stuff.
Hunter
Oh, Brandy's fine. I just thought you said Aunt Randy, and we're just gonna have to talk.
John David
Well, she. She opened the door and it's waddling down, like, in front of her apartment. Then all of a sudden, their duck dog just shoots out the apartment and just eats it.
Hunter
Yeah. Doing what he was trained to do. Yeah, that's good. Get him. It's just kind of violent.
John David
Yeah.
Hunter

Doug
Some really sad person wrote a letter to the duck. The duck, yeah. About how America has failed you.
Phil
Oh, hi. That's right. America failed him.
Hunter
And buy more duck Stamps, y'. All. Save the duck. Buy more Duck Stamps. You want to save the ducks, Buy more Duck Stamps.
Doug
Hold on.
Hunter
It ain't even the time to start talking about Duck stamp dot com. But the website still works. And if you want to help that little duck, go buy a duck stamp. Dad Gummet. Oh, man.
Doug
Oh, yeah. It's a whole political thing.
Hunter
Oh, of course.
Doug
But here's the best part. He accidentally ended it like he is a Duck Dynasty member. Quack Quack Jack.
Hunter
Because the dude side. Did you write?
Doug
The dude's name that wrote it is Jack
Hunter
Jack.
Phil
Well, I've been looking for that clown all my life.
Hunter
Like, look at there. Hey, you gonna have to hit. You're gonna have to hit him for, like, trademark infringement or something with Quack Quack Jack. So, yeah, bring it. Bring it up.
John David
When did Duck Dynasty start airing? Was it like, 2013 12?
Doug
March 21, 2012.
John David
I've been watching the series called Psych. And then, like, the main character, Sean Spencer, like, every now and then, he ends his sentences with Jack. Kind of like Psy. I've been trying to figure out who. Who stole it from who.
Phil
Well, no, no, we tried to come up with where it started.
John David
Yeah.
Phil
Can't figure it out.
John David
Did you ever watch Psych around 2012, 2013?
Hunter
Oh, he was saying it way before then and confirmed I was. So I was on Jack as early as about 2005 was when I met him.
Doug
There's a lot of time.
Hunter
And I'm assuming it was prior to then, too, because it didn't seem like something new.
Phil
I wasn't new. Yeah, I went way back, and we tried.
Hunter
I talked about two people all the time, Jack. Well, really, we don't ever know how many there are. But you had Jack and The boys.
Phil
Come on, boys.
John David
And the boys.
Hunter
I don't know how many boys there
Doug
were, but a lot of boys.
Hunter
But he. He always would say, come on, boys. I can't.
Phil
Well, hey, here's a question.
Hunter
We just assumed. He was always talking about us like we were still there, even though we weren't.
Phil
But, like, here's your question. Are they gonna ever fix the reflective poo? I thought that's the whole thing.
Hunter
Yeah, I think they are fixing it, aren't they? I don't.
John David
I just thought they were just going to argue with each other over it.
Doug
Do you want to know? I'm going to say something right now. We have an email that we. I've been trying to get to for 30 minutes because it's proof that this is the greatest country on earth and we don't even need a reflecting pool.
Hunter
The reflecting polo. Do you think Jenny had anything to do with it?
Doug
That's probably part of the problem. Your people in the 70s were.
Hunter
Remember when she just went running through
Doug
it around the reflection?
Phil
Who wasn't running through it?
Doug
Jenny.
Hunter
Off a Forrest Gump. Oh, when they were talking about.
Phil
Now we're going. Now we're going. Blaming Forrest Gump like President Trump. Well, I'll tell you what, you people.
Doug
I always got to blame somebody. But you know what you can't blame?
Phil
You're a bunch of whiners and pisser. All you do, everything you can't tap, you piss on.
Hunter
Just like a bunch of young kids.
Phil
You try to tear up everything they trying to.
Doug
But you want to know why they're all not full of joy? Because they don't live in Norman, Oklahoma.
Hunter
Norman. That's where the Sooners are.
Phil
Yeah.
Hunter
They just won a national championship and baseball. Boomer soon.
Phil
You know what? I'm the wagon drivers.
Hunter
Congratulations. I will.
Doug
Hey, do you know that there is a historic landmark in Norman, Oklahoma?
Hunter
I mean.
Phil
Yeah. So Buffalo.
Doug
No. Zachary from Norman emailed in and told me of a place that I didn't know existed, and I looked it up.
Phil
Well, you got my curiosity.
Doug
University of Oklahoma's couch restaurant features the only all you care to eat. Chick fil a buffet in the world.
John David
All you care to eat.
Doug
I don't know why they say it like that. It seems more proper. Because they're Chick fil a.
Hunter
Well, yeah. It takes gluttony away from it. Maybe because it's not a challenge. All you can.
Doug
Diners can enjoy as many sandwiches, nuggets and waffle fries for how much they want for $16.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
All right.
John David
Doesn't sound bad.
Hunter
I guess I'm going to Norman.
Doug
That's the greatest thing that's ever happened to me.
Hunter
I guess.
Phil
What.
Hunter
What were the sandwiches? Nuggets and waffle fries.
Doug
What more could you want?
Phil
What else could you want for $16?
John David
I'm with John David.
Hunter
Oh, I know. I'm just trying to figure out in my mind, I'm trying to think of how many of those nuggets I could eat for 16 bucks. It's a bunch of.
Doug
I think I can eat 100.
John David
Yeah, I think I can eat 100.
Doug
I could eat 100. Calm down. Mr. Can throw rocks. A chick fil a. Yes. I could eat 100. Chicken. You got 800 chick fil A. I could 100 nug.
Hunter
Nuggets.
Doug
I could eat five sandwiches.
Hunter
Yeah.
John David
42.
Doug
You could eat 42 sandwiches or nuggets.
John David
Nuggets.
Phil
100 chicken nuggets.
Hunter
42 is a very specific number.
Doug
Not the grilled ones before.
John David
Do what?
Hunter
Have you done this before? No, it's now. The grilled ones are kind of like chicken bubble gum. The grilled nuggets, they're not great.
Phil
I might see Bart meat. 100 maybe. I don't think you could eat 100.
Hunter
I hate to tell you, I've only been in a couple of food eating competitions, and both of them involve Johnny D. And he whooped my butt in both of of them.
Doug
So I'm like a young Joey Chestnut.
John David
What food competition?
Doug
We were in a hot dog eating contest on the loading dock one time.
Hunter
Yeah? Yeah.
Phil
Well, how about this?
John David
What's the second one?
Phil
How much is this?
Hunter
Yeah. In fact, I've been in a donut eating competition with sign lost. I'm not. I can't eat as much as you think I can.
John David
I've never done a food eating competition.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
I don't.
Hunter
It ruins whatever food you're after.
Doug
I didn't eat a hot dog for another couple years. Years.
Phil
Yeah.
Hunter
Now he's got a roller. He's reformed.
Doug
I'm back.
Hunter
He made it.
Phil
He's back.
Doug
I think. What did I eat that day?
Phil
It.
Hunter
We did many of them.
Doug
We did, like, the legitimate.
Hunter
I stood with you for a while, and then I was like, I can't. I can't.
Doug
I think I got 12 down in 10 minutes.
Hunter
Yeah. I was like, I can't. I can't do this.
Doug
I was going to do the local one here in town.
John David
There's a local one?
Phil
Oh, yeah.
Doug
Every Fourth of July put on by that Coney Island.
John David
Really?
Doug
Yeah.
Phil
Coney Island.
Hunter
What are they chili dogs or just.
Doug
No, just regular dogs.
John David
I didn't know.
Doug
The problem is the. The prize is just big enough for some, you know, ringer to show up and whoop everybody.
Hunter
Oh, really?
Doug
Yeah.
John David
I forget what it was I went to.
Doug
You know Chris?
Hunter
Huh?
Phil
The owner, Cody Island?
Hunter
No, I don't know Chris Lewis. My basement like onions. That whole place smell like chopped onions. That ain't even. That's not a knock on them. That's just one of their toppings. And boy, it really permeates the air when you walk into a.
Doug
We ride down the road. One champion, countless hot dogs.
John David
Do you guys remember Malcolm Reed that came here?
Hunter
Yeah, Big Malcolm.
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
Yeah.
John David
So around the time that he came, me and my friends went to his thing called Wiener Fest.
Doug
Got to be a better name than that.
John David
No, that is the perfect name.
Hunter
You bought a T shirt, didn't you?
John David
They were sold out. I tried. I was. I was going to wear that around proudly, and then they were sold out. But he held a hot dog eating contest, and my friend Landon did it. I think he got, like, three hot dogs in before.
Hunter
He was just like, yeah, that's one of them deals that you're like, I could eat more. I could eat a lot of hot dog wieners. It's that bun that really throws. That's what throws the wrench into the things is that if it was just the weenies, like, okay, let's go.
Phil
They ought to do away with the
Hunter
bun and just have the wieners.
Phil
Yeah.
Doug
I feel like you'd accidentally swallow that hole when trying to go too fast. Got him.
John David
Have you ever seen that video of the guy that, like, does them back to back? Just. It just swallows.
Doug
How did you make that noise? You're welcome.
Hunter
Y' all gonna have to. We gonna have to do something here because now I'm about to make a bunch of wing noodles.
Phil
Just leave them tied together like when you make them.
John David
I don't think you can.
Doug
Wait, it's not bug bunny.
Phil
No, no.
Doug
Like spaghetti noodles.
Phil
Leave them tied together while you do. Just keep eating them. Now, what they ought to do. Here's what they ought to do. On hot dog eating contestants. You can only do, though, those wieners that pop.
John David
Can I send you that video?
Doug
I don't know what video we're talking about, but sure.
John David
Okay.
Doug
Is it possible to eat 100 chicken nuggets?
Phil
I don't know, but I. I will go pay for it. Oh, I don't think you can do it.
Doug
I just had a kolache. I'm not like prepared.
Hunter
That's actually when you need to do it. You don't go on an empty stomach. Empty, you end up full quicker. I probably hour after eating something Smash.
Doug
I would probably put a more in a bind over. Over French fries.
Hunter
I don't love their fries that much. Yeah, when you're looking good, man, since
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
I've been on this PhD weight loss, I'm telling you, I feel better. I got more energy, My belly's flatter, I'm having to buy new clothes. No joint pain. I got energy all of a sudden. And, man, it's just. It's just a big, big, big difference.
Hunter
There you go.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
Most weight loss plans have one thing in common. They quit working eventually. And when that happens, usually the weight comes right back. But PhD weight loss is different. I'm 20 weeks in, 38 pounds down.
Phil
Oh, you got off your medication.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
You know, I had that pre diabetes. I had to take pills every day. Okay, Took them and golly, it's been a month now.
Hunter
Look, what worked for you before doesn't always work again because your body fights weight loss every step of the way when it's under stress. GLP1 drugs can work as a quick fix, but they don't always take care of what's causing the problem in the first place. Ph.D. weight loss works with you to develop a plan that actually works with your body and focuses on restoring your metabolism for good so that your body stops fighting you. Look, the goal isn't to lose weight just once. It's to never have to do it again, y'.
PhD Weight Loss Spokesperson
All.
Hunter
And right now, you can call PhD weight loss and mention God. You'll get two weeks free in the program, and they'll pay for your food that's a $1,500 value, completely free. Call 864-64-4-1900 and say again. That's 864-64-4,1900 or visit my Ph.D. weight loss dot com.
Phil
Many potato chips. Can you eat a whole bag?
Doug
I don't. I've never gotten to the end of when I felt like I should stop. That's the problem with potato chips.
Hunter
Yeah, I just stopped because I feel guilty.
Phil
Oh, I. I ate a bag of Lays.
Doug
Yeah, I've eaten a whole.
Phil
The big bag.
Doug
I've eaten a whole sweet.
Hunter
You ate those prior to the World cup or is that advertising that they have on
Phil
whenever my wife. When I run out, they give me a new bag, I want to pour it in there. Then I'll. I'll start eating them, and I literally have to stop her. I'll eat the whole thing.
Hunter
Yeah, I feel that way. With, like, Cheez Its. I love Cheez It.
Phil
Yeah.
Hunter
And Cool Ranch Doritos. I love a Cool Ranch Dorito, but. God.
John David
Have you tried those, like, barbecue ones? I like bag way better.
Hunter
Really?
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
I don't know how you get better in Cool Ranch Doritos, man.
John David
They're good. I like the. The. The purple one, the sweet chili. Sweet, spicy chili. And then the barbecue ones are nothing.
Hunter
You're saying here surprising me?
Commercial Announcer
What?
Doug
You probably eat those blue Takis, too, don't you?
John David
No, I can't stand a Taki.
Hunter
Yeah, them talkies ain't hitting on much.
Doug
No, that'll set you on fire.
Hunter
Yeah, they're not very good.
John David
Olivia likes those, though. She'll.
Hunter
The blue Takis, all of them.
Doug
The problem with chips is that you. Those are the problem. Yeah, there's no. There's no.
Hunter
That's, like, chips and sauce.
Doug
There's no healthy plan.
Hunter
Yeah.
Doug
That includes chips.
Hunter
Well, chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant, you're doing fine. And then you realize that every four chips you eat is a tortilla.
Phil
Yeah, okay.
Hunter
You're like, wow. Okay. I'm a pig. Like, I just ate 17 tortillas. Cool.
Doug
Small tortillas.
Hunter
They're still a tortilla. They still start out as a tortilla.
Phil
Is Mexican. And she brought me some sauce, you know, homemade. It's got. No way. It's called red. I.
Doug
You know, what color is it?
Phil
It's like crack. Like crack cocaine. You can't get off it. I'm serious.
Hunter
He said, you can't get off of it, boy.
Doug
What color is it called?
John David
Red. And it's like crack.
Phil
Look.
Doug
Hey, I would have been green.
Phil
It's a pint. It's a pint jar. And I ate the whole pint jar. I love chip.
Hunter
Yeah, I do, too.
Phil
Sauce is good with the big, big Alfredo chips.
Hunter
Yeah, the scoops.
Phil
Yeah, the scoops.
Doug
One of the saddest things I got going on in life right now is I'm refusing to eat anything not American until the World Cup's over. And I miss Mexico. That's all you got to do to talk my kids into going to eat Mexican. Y' all wanna go see that robot? At one time, it didn't show up to the table, though that person did. But my kids about booed the waiter. Here's your chips and salsa. They're like, you're not a robot, idiot. Get out of here.
Hunter
Imagine if they had one of them at Church passing out communion. A cat robot passing out communion at church. That'd be fun.
Doug
Awesome.
Hunter
Yeah, It'd take a while.
Doug
We should budget that.
Hunter
Might send that to Mr. Chris. Maybe he'll add that to his.
Phil
The robot deacons always changes stuff at church.
Doug
What?
Phil
Huh?
Doug
I'm in. Let's go down this road.
Phil
We don't know politics.
Doug
Let's talk about the church change.
Phil
No. Used to when you walk.
John David
I don't know the rules for this.
Hunter
Yeah, we're good.
Phil
Swinging doors in the back.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
They've got the safe that you drop your money. Check.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
And then they used to have. Okay. The emblems that you take communion with. Well, they took them away. Now they got to bring them to you.
Hunter
What, the communion stuff?
Phil
Yeah. Yeah. And I'm looking and said wait at Wise Fairy Road. Yeah.
Doug
They've always brought them to you.
Phil
No, they haven't.
Hunter
Oh, during. During COVID Did they get off of bringing them? You had to get it yourself.
Doug
That's what happened. He doesn't remember anything before 2009.
Hunter
Because the wildest thing I remember when I went to Washbury Road for the first time is when that little tray full of grape juice come around.
Doug
You know who filled that up?
Hunter
No.
Phil
Well, they went back to that.
Hunter
Wait, the tray full of grape juice?
Sports Commentator
Yeah.
Phil
Yeah.
John David
I'm confused.
Phil
They went back, and I'm still. I'm thinking, next. Why did you do that?
Doug
I got to call out all churches in America. There is nothing worse than whenever you get the little packet with the piece of Styrofoam that they call bread in it, and then the whole church opens the bread at the same time, and it sounds like somebody's crinkling up a bag of chips through the whole church.
Hunter
Yeah. And then you're rewarded with an unsalted, unleavened piece of Styrofoam.
Phil
That's Styrofoam?
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
Sometimes a little low thing in there.
John David
I thought the communion was a Catholic thing.
Hunter
What.
John David
What denominations? Whitesberry. Or is it non denomination?
Hunter
Very Catholic.
Doug
Yeah, very. We just got canceled.
Hunter
But communion. Communion's a Jesus thing for you.
John David
Okay.
Doug
I just do in remembrance of me.
Hunter
Yeah, you take the bread.
Doug
I've got a weird theology thing on community.
Phil
It reminds you that bread is his body.
John David
Yeah, no, I know that.
Phil
And the. The juice is.
Doug
Everybody does it, so.
John David
They didn't do that at my Baptist church growing up.
Doug
Baptists don't do it all, but they
John David
did that at the Catholic church.
Doug
They do it all the time.
John David
Yeah, Yeah, I know that.
Hunter
So the CoC does it all the time.
Doug
Pentecostals are. They're just like, depends on the day.
Hunter
Yeah, I have.
Phil
Well, some of Pentecostals, yo.
Doug
I can't say that.
Phil
Special days. And they don't have Pentecostals.
Doug
They're a blast.
Phil
Weird.
John David
Well, I went. I went to a. A church. All I've ever known for an assembly of God. And. And that ain't Pentecostal.
Doug
That's Martin.
Hunter
Yeah.
John David
Oh, really?
Hunter
Oh, that's what I grew up in. Yeah. But it's very Pentecostal. Rooted.
John David
That. That church camp made me never want to go back.
Hunter
Why?
John David
Because they convinced 500 kids to speak in tongues at the same time. It was the scariest moment of my life.
Hunter
Moving in the spirit, man. It was convinced. What do you think this is a parlor trick?
John David
Well, I was told you're not supposed to.
Hunter
You think everybody was in on it?
Phil
Oh, boy.
John David
I was told you're not supposed to tell them to speak in tongues. That it comes naturally. And then they told them to.
Doug
We just.
Hunter
Yeah. This is something me and my grandfather talked about often. Assembly. No.
Phil
I feel sad because I had a guy one time said, man, you should have been with me last night. I said, why? He said, I went to a place and they spoke in tongues. And I said, well, what did they tell you? What did you learn from them? And he said, oh, they were speaking in tongues. And I said, well, wait a minute now.
Hunter
Now we're getting into ass, boys.
Phil
Wait a minute.
John David
We can change the subject.
Phil
I asked you the question.
Hunter
No, this is actually pretty good because I've been involved on these discussions, too.
Phil
It's fun. I said, you said they spoke in tongues. I said, I want to know what you learned from what they were saying.
John David
But I thought you weren't supposed to know.
Phil
Well, no, no, that's the point.
John David
Let me ask you these questions then, if that's okay.
Doug
10 minutes.
Hunter
Go ahead.
John David
Okay. So, like, I spent all week learning about this, right? And then I was told, like, you can't. It can't be translated because if you knew it, you would basically just implode. And then, like, no one knows what you're saying, and it's supposed to come naturally. And the last night I was there, like, all those things happened. Like this dude translated himself.
Hunter
Yeah, there. Yeah, there's. I mean, I've grown up in it, so I've been around it. Like, there always seemed to be. And it was never the same person, which is what's crazy that, I mean, would, in their mind Translate what the other people were saying. Almost like it was. It was a wild experience because, you know me, at that point in my life, I was a big doubter of a lot of that stuff. So I would pay attention and I was like, on the translations, I was listening to what they were talking in tongues. And on the translations, I would listen for repeated patterns, because a lot of times there would be repeated patterns in that and there would be repeated patterns in the translation. So I was like, at that point, I determined this about that. I'm not going to limit anybody's faith interaction, whatever you want to call that, with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. I'm not limiting. I'm not saying you can. I'm not saying you can't. It ain't for me to know, like. But I'm not going to limit your experience with whatever that is. Maybe that was what. It felt right for you. I've never done it. I grew up my whole life in it. I've never. I've never felt led to speak in tongues. I've never. And that's not like in there and denying it or whatever. Like, I. I've just never. Some people, it was a gift. There were some people that did it often. Right. And like, even at that deal, I was just at this past weekend up in Alabama, very charismatic church that I spoke at. And there were some people that come out of that water when we baptized them, speaking in tongues. And I was like, again, not for me. I just. I showed respect. I stayed quiet and let them have their moment with whatever that was with the Spirit. I don't. Is it real? Is it. That's not for me to determine. So on my end, I just, again, I let people have their experience, however that may be. I don't think it's necessary. I don't think that if you don't do it, you don't have the spirit. There are some that think that. So that was just my observation from growing up in it for roughly 30 years.
Phil
Yeah, but you got. You got to think of this in this, this.
Hunter
But I don't think I will say this.
Phil
I agree with you in a way.
Hunter
So what size said, it's not the same as what is described in the biblical times. Because if it were, I should have been able to understand it in plain English as it was translated. I shouldn't. There shouldn't be. If it's the biblical way of what happened in the day of Pentecost and all that in Acts, I should hear it in plain English. Not one person translated I should. I should hear that in my own language as it's going on According to the miracle that happened on the day of Pentecost. Phil
I'll give you an example. Okay, I'll give you an example. The miracles. The miracles that the apostles done. The miracles especially that Jesus done. You gotta use your common sense. Why would the Son of God be able to do all this miraculous stuff? That's one thing with pointing to saying that dude right there is divine. That's the Son of God. Only God can do that kind of stuff. Cause here's the thing. People today, I've run into them everywhere. Show me a miracle. Look, you could see a miracle every five minutes of your life. And unless you believe that Jesus is the Messiah, you're going to die in your sins. Because a miracle won't save you. The miracles were in play for one reason. That's the Son of God. That's identifying who he is. Okay. Where there's beyond doubt. Can you do this? No. Can you raise dead meal? No. He can.
Hunter
That's one of them deals. Like, that was one of my deals. I mean, I asked my grandfather this. I was like, well, because in that whole deal, right, it's like they drank deadly poison and were not harmed. I said, I'll never see none of y' all drinking no deadly poison. Yeah, I mean, like that again. But I was a major doubter, right? Like I, I, you know, in my mind I was trying to figure it all out. And you got them that still do this, where they lay with the snakes and all that stuff, you know? And I'm like. And some of them get bit and they swell up and they turn black. And I'm like.
Phil
And they're missing fingers.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
And I'm, you know, it's, it's. There's stuff there that says, oh, no, you don't do this.
Hunter
Yeah. And I'm just like, oh. And some of the. Again, though, I'm not going to, I'm not going to limit somebody's spiritual experience and encounter.
Phil
I'm not. That's the deal about. Okay. You're being a stumbling block to that person if you do.
Hunter
Yeah. I'm not going to stand in that.
John David
So what is, what is White's Ferry?
Hunter
Is it Church of Christ?
John David
Church of Christ.
Hunter
Church of Christ. Founded, rooted in Church of Christ. It's technically non dom.
Phil
That's where all, that's where the rub comes on all of it. Where did all these names come from? Well, hey, who built the church? One person built it.
John David
So why do y' all do communion if it's non dom?
Hunter
Communion is a very non dom thing.
John David
Oh, I don't know. Like, again, I grew up Baptist for one reason. Catholic.
Phil
The Bible says, hey, you know, and this is the Son of God speaking, do this in remembrance of me.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
For who I am. For what I did, what I've done
Hunter
and what I'm going to do and
Phil
what I'm going to see. Cause here's the thing, past, present and future. He's in all of it. Here's what I'll do for you in the past. Here's what I've done for you presently. Here's what I'll do for you in the future. And that's why when you say, wait a minute, what do you remember it? I remember that man saying, hey, sit down over there, and I'm going to go to the cross to take care of this. Two problems you've got you go sit down and relax, and I will die for you.
Hunter
Yeah, I'll take the sin.
Phil
Ain't nobody else done that for me.
Hunter
Yeah, I'll take the sin problem and the death problem right now.
Phil
See, that's. And then you say, what are you supposed to remember? I remember what he did for me.
Hunter
The breads, the body, the wine.
Phil
If you ask Sal Robertson, are you guilty? Guilty as charged on all charges. I'm guilty on all of them. Because if you break one, you can't keep them. You can't keep them. Why do you think he came down? He can. He's kept them all.
Hunter
Every last one of them.
Phil
Every last one of them. You know why? Because he did one thing perfectly. Me and Phil come up with this. He did one thing perfectly.
Doug
You and Phil came up with this.
Phil
He loved the world. Didn't know. Make no difference what you did.
Hunter
They came up with it when they read John.
Phil
Well, no, it's proof in the Bible about it. But we said, hey, you got to realize something. He was a man. Yet this man was without sin. How did he pull it off?
Hunter
There you go.
Phil
And the only way he could pull it off, he loved perfectly.
Hunter
Amen to that.
Phil
Yeah.
Hunter
He didn't know he was going to get there from an. Oh, you can eat chicken fillet.
Phil
No, no.
Doug
I don't even know where we went. That's why we start with Communion. Then y' all went down the.
John David
Yeah, that was my fault. I was confused.
Hunter
That ain't your fault. I mean, it's a great question, and I think there are a lot of people that have questions about that. I mean, I've seen. Again, I grew up in it. So, like, you would see new people walk in and then that kind of stuff start happening, and they're just looking around like, oh, boy. And, you know, it's. It's a very confusing. It is a confusing topic that is covered in there.
John David
I did it for a month and I was like, for me?
Sports Commentator
What?
Hunter
Assembly of God?
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
Yeah. I did it for 30 years. Trust me, I'm. I'm well aware.
Phil
I don't ever want to steal.
John David
Yeah, yeah.
Phil
That's your enthusiasm about your religion.
Hunter
Yeah, yeah.
John David
I like. I like y'.
Doug
All.
Phil
Okay. That's why I don't say nothing.
Hunter
I'm not. I'm not going to live, you know,
Phil
I'm not going to knock the sale out of your. The wind out of your sale.
Hunter
Yeah. If that is.
Phil
If I do. I'm saying sinning when I do that, because I've taken you Down. I never want to do that.
Hunter
Now I will say, and some of that stuff, man, like, you know, you get in it and this. You really want to experience one. Go to a revival at one, buddy.
John David
What's a revival?
Hunter
Where they have.
Doug
Bring out your Bibles, jump in the pit and start a revival.
Hunter
Yeah. The. Where the angel of that said denomination show up. So I've been to those being the grandson of a preacher, and I will say this, man, I have seen people, they get up there and pray for and when I tell you, they fall out, buddy. I'm talking about like lights out, like gone. Hit the floor, like, thud on the concrete floor. And I'm sitting there myself thinking, oh, I know that hurt. Like in my mind I'm like, oh. And then they get up at whatever time later and there's no. They ain't got a headache. They ain't got a knot on their head. They ain't. I'm like. So I look at it and I'm like, well, for that person in this moment, the spirit had to do something with it because otherwise they should have cte. Like, they shouldn't be driving home. Right? Like, I mean, and they should be walking around here loopy.
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
And with a headache. And they're. They're talking to you like they just got out of bed, you know, so there is some of that. That is.
John David
You want to say hey to my friend Drake?
Hunter
No, I'm good.
John David
Okay.
Phil
Well, here's the thing.
Doug
Unless he'd like to come.
Phil
There's things that happen.
John David
He was.
Phil
There's things that happen that you can't explain.
Hunter
Yeah. And I saw it my whole life
Phil
and I saw offensive or like you said, I mean, you look and say, wait a minute, that dude just fell off of the. Off of the pulpit. And that's a four foot drop. And he.
Hunter
Yeah. And you're like.
Phil
He got up later and was there nothing wrong with it?
Hunter
Never stumbled, never nothing.
John David
Whoa.
Hunter
Yeah, I've seen it all, man.
Sports Commentator
So good.
Phil
So good, so good.

But if you're new and you walk in and say that you're like, or. All right, I probably need to get it. I need to find out if you
Doug
were 30 years of church of Christ where we didn't have instruments. And then friends that are.
Hunter
Which was just as bizarre. The first time I walked in there, they threw the note, the songs up on an overhead projector in the little
Doug
worship room, like from the grave here.
Hunter
I'm looking around like, what have I walked into here?
Phil
Well, no, no. Cuz I went to a church that handles snakes.
Doug
What?
Phil
Oh, yeah.
John David
What'd you say?
Phil
I went to a church that handled snakes. I didn't know it. Okay. And when they brought them out, started, I said, where Do y' all want a door?
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
So I fixed to knock a hole in a wall I Out of here.
Hunter
Was that in Alabama?
Phil
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hunter
I mean, that folks. That is not.
Phil
I.
Hunter
That is not a joke on Alabama.
Doug
Kind of.
Phil
They are handling.
Hunter
It just seems more prevalent when you get in the mountainous ranges.
Phil
They're. They're handling rattlesnakes like they ain't nothing.
Hunter
Yeah. Big, big, big timber rattlers.
John David
The. The church camp that I went to with, with the 500 kids speaking in tongues, they just locked the doors on me like I couldn't leave. I was like, this is too much for me. I'm gonna politely walk out. And then it was just, oh, I'm stuck.
Phil
How to kick that door down.
Hunter
Yeah, yeah, that ain't it.
John David
I hid in the bathroom for a good chunk of it.
Doug
It's weird because you do that at work too.
Phil
Here's the thing, Hunter.
Hunter
Were you watching reels there too?
John David
No.
Phil
Hey, look, what we're saying here, all of it can be backed up by scripture.
John David
Yeah.
Hunter
Yeah. And in their minds, the same thing that happened to them can be too.
John David
And so again, I'm not dogging on it.
Hunter
Yeah, me either. And I will never dog on it. I'll never again. I'm going to limit.
Phil
Like Martin said, this is one of them things. Okay. You have to back up your mind how you're going to handle it.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
Okay. And what I would tell people is, I never want to take the wind out of your sail.
Hunter
Yeah. If that helps you feel.
Phil
If you. If you're like. And believe it. I'm not going. I will try to actually steer you the right direction and say, well, here's what I think.
Hunter
Yeah, same. And I just hope that the same respect that I give and not limiting yours is given back to me and not limiting mine. So, you know, it's just a kind of.
Phil
Dude, I never want to attack anybody for what they believe.
Hunter
Yeah.
Phil
Okay. Because then I'm in the wrong 100% if I do.
Hunter
But the assembly of God, the Pentecostals and the Apostolics of the world, man, I'm here to tell you, they some fun places to go. They interesting, man. I can say that. Because I've been there. I'm not.
Doug
Well, that's why I didn't chime in.
Hunter
Yeah.
Doug
Because I was like, let you handle that one.
Hunter
Oh, man.
Doug
Because I got plenty of friends that are.
Hunter
Buddy, I'm sorry, man.
Sports Commentator
Oh.
John David
But.
Doug
And they're. And they're awesome people. And you know, I, I'm not gonna. I've studied the tongue thing, but I ain't.
John David
No, I was.
Doug
I ain't no theologian, so you ain't getting my opinion.
John David
I was church curious when I was in high school, so I went to a bunch of different.
Hunter
Yeah, Heck yeah. I think that's a good thing. I actually think as even adult. An adult, it is a great thing to do to go experience other people and other, other styles and other. You know, I don't, I don't think you should get down in it, but I think it's cool to go.
Phil
See, once you do what you're saying, you're not closed minded.
Hunter
Yeah. You have an open mind to everybody's reasons and experiences and all that.
Phil
You're not closed about. Oh, that's bunk.
Doug
I'm the most charismatic.
Phil
It ain't because you're making a judgment. Okay. That you're really not qualified to make.
Doug
Exactly.
Hunter
And where do we stand on women preachers? No, I'm kidding. Oh, I'm kidding.
Doug
Hey, I will say this.
Hunter
I'm kidding. Sadie and John Chris done went down that road. If you want to see that, go pop over to Net Positive.
Doug
Go pot up over there.
Phil
You speaking about that the first time
John David
we got a wrap. I'm sorry.
Phil
Oh, we got to wrap it up.
Hunter
We got a call again.
Doug
I got a Bible verse for us and I would. I was going to say, minute goes, I'm the most charismatic church of Christ kid that goes to a Baptist church in all town. So, you know, I'm, I'm. I don't know a lot. I. But we all got our weird. That's what I've learned in life. If you go hang out with a kid that grew up Pentecostal, you're going to be like, man, that's weird. You go hang out with a kid like me that grew up Church of Christ, they're going to be like, yeah, that's weird because we all get hung up on our own little bitty legalistic
Phil
Some of the greatest part of that.
Doug
Tell me the greatest part.
Phil
You can learn something from each other, everybody.
Doug
And a lot of times we get stuck in our own circles.
Phil
Looking over at the time, it'll open your eyes that, hey, you've been wrong about stuff. Yeah. So, hey, ease up, baby.
Doug
And we get up, back up, and we get stuck in our church looking at how some other church does it. We don't like that. And we're like, why don't they do communion every week? Or, why do they do it this way? Or why are they praying in a language I don't understand? Or. Or why are they letting a woman talk? And we get hung up on a lot of those things, and then we think, ugh, how could they? And that's why a lot of outsiders are confused, because we all have the label Christian. Then we put this extra label on ourselves, and then we're more. We're. We're banging that drum more than we're banging the Christian drum. But Mark 9:38,41 is an interesting little tidbit from Jesus of Nazareth. Teacher said, john, we saw someone driving out demons in your name, and we told him to stop because he was not one of us. Do not stop him. Jesus said, for no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment, say anything bad about me. For whoever is not against us is for us. Truly. I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward. So that's a deep, deep scripture. And I ain't Jason, Al, or anybody like that. But to me, what that means to us today is when you see somebody preaching Jesus, don't get hung up on some little technicality. As long as they're preaching the truth of the gospel, that Jesus died, was raised again for the salvation of your sin, and we can all be together one day for eternity. If that's what they're preaching, then don't stop them. Because whoever is for us is not against us.

Amen. And John 3, 16 and 17. Same way everybody knows. 16 for God, so love the word. Seen his son 17. Okay. The man that is qualified to judge us, guess what? When he came down, he didn't come to judge us. And he said, that's him speaking theirs. Same thing. If they're preaching me, leave them alone.

Hosts: Si Robertson, Justin Martin, John-David Owen, John Godwin, Jay Stone, Phillip McMillan, Jacob Mayo
This lively episode finds Uncle Si, Martin, and the Duck Call Room crew swapping humorous anecdotes, debating food challenges, and, most notably, diving into America’s confusing church traditions. Blending backwoods wisdom, spiritual curiosity, and their trademark humor, the guys reflect on how different denominations approach church rituals, communion, speaking in tongues, and the surprising quirks that baffle even the most seasoned churchgoers. The crew’s honest conversation on faith traditions is as earnest as it is entertaining, making for a unique mix of laughs, honest questions, and real talk about Christianity’s complicated landscape.
The hosts discuss how handling communion and offering traditions have changed—communion in packets vs. served, the loss of passing trays, and the universally loathed “styrofoam bread.”
Timestamps: 27:00–29:15
Quote:
“There is nothing worse than when you get the little packet with the piece of Styrofoam they call bread…and it sounds like somebody’s crinkling up a bag of chips through the whole church.” – Doug (28:13)
Discussion on denominational differences:
The guys swap experiences with charismatic churches, particularly the confusion and skepticism that comes with speaking in tongues and the practice of having “interpreters” (31:00–33:38).
Martin (Justin):
“I’m not gonna limit anybody’s faith interaction…But I’ve never done it. I grew up my whole life in it. I’ve never felt led to speak in tongues.” (32:08)
Honest confusion about whether modern manifestations match up with scripture (Acts & Pentecost).
“If it’s the biblical way…it should be in plain English.” – Martin (33:45)
Si’s take:
“You gotta use your common sense. Why would the Son of God be able to do all this miraculous stuff? …The miracles were in play for one reason. That’s the Son of God.” (35:57–37:23)
Si recounts accidentally attending a church where snake handling was a thing: “When they brought them out…Where y’ all want a door? I’m about to knock a hole in that wall, I’m out of here.” – Si (45:47)
Martin shares about witnessing dramatic revival scenes:
“They get up there, pray for, and when I tell you they fall out, buddy…they ain’t got a headache, ain’t got a knot…So for that person, the Spirit had to do something with it.” (43:01–44:11)
The hosts agree that it’s not their place to judge someone’s faith experience—even if it looks “weird.”
Quote:
“I never want to take the wind out of your sail…If you’re like, and believe it, I’m not going to try to steer you wrong…” – Si (47:15)
Discussion about learning from other denominations:
“You can learn something from each other.” – Si (50:06)
“If you’re not against us, you’re for us.” – Doug, quoting Mark 9:38–41 (51:07)
They poke fun at their own traditions, recognizing the universal weirdness outsiders perceive: “We all get hung up on our own little bitty legalistic…” – Doug (49:53)
The conversation closes with a reminder:
“If they’re preaching Jesus, don’t get hung up on the little technicality.” (51:25)
By turning a humorous, sometimes irreverent, but always honest eye on church rituals—from communion confusion to snake-handling panic—the Duck Call Room brings into focus just how bewildering interpretations and traditions can be, even for longtime believers. The crew’s message is ultimately one of humility and unity: question, explore, laugh—but don’t judge others’ sincere attempts to follow Jesus. As always, they wrap the show with scriptural reminders about loving well and not sweating the small stuff:
“If they’re preaching the truth of the gospel…then don’t stop them. Because whoever is for us is not against us.” – Doug (51:25)
This summary captures the heart, humor, and thoughtful questions from this deeply Duck Commander episode—a perfect primer for anyone curious why there’s so much debate (and fun) around church traditions in America.
