So honored to be here. I want to invite you, if you've brought your Bible with you, to turn it over to Second Kings, chapter number four. And I just had it in my heart when I was asked, praise God. I thank God for the Holy Ghost, how he'll prepare you. But I wanted to just share with you as we get ready to receive tonight something that the Holy Spirit began to unveil to me. I'm going to say over a two year period, but really it was just a couple of short snippets. He brought revelation to me about this passage and praise God. I just wanted to share it with you. Is that all right? And I was, I had Dr. Jacobs and he stands in the ministry of a prophet in my church a couple of years ago. And it wasn't while studying, it wasn't while praying to receive the offering in that service, but it was while I received it. The Lord just shared something with me. And then he came again the next year and then in 2018, he shared something else. And I just want to share these nuggets with you. Second Kings, chapter number four. Just read a few verses here. We'll try to condense, but begin with me in verse number eight. And it says, it fell on a day that Elisha, how many of you know, he stood in the office of a prophet, passed to Shunam where there was a great woman, and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was that as often as he passed by, he turned in there to eat bread. And she said unto her husband, behold, now I don't have preach. I don't have time to preach on this. But get this. I perceive we know from this passage that she received something, but it started with a perception. You know, you're going to receive from the minister in direct proportion to your degree of perception. She's the only one that I know of that's recorded in Shunam that received anything from this prophet who frequented their city. Why was that? Well, he was available to all, but she perceived something about that minister that no one else seemed to get. Amen. And because of her perception, her perception inspired her to take an action. That action, just very briefly, is honor. I love to go to the well of the subject of Honor and keep dipping in it. Because I keep uncovering things from the Bible about how to unlock the heart of God, the power of God, the blessings of God. And one of those keys is by growing and developing in honor. Now we know something about what she did because of what she perceived. She not only constrained him. You ever met a, you know, an Italian lady of any skill will constrain you to eat pasta. You know, they. They were. You are going to eat, you're going to have this. And you know, that's what I understand about him. You like that? That's what she did. But she wanted to do more than feed him. She took the extreme step of remodeling her home. Come on. Adding on to her home an upper chamber. And she furnished it. And he participated in that and was blessed by that. And I want to tell you something about this upper room, this channel. I looked it up and it's the Hebrew word. It's the word Eliyah in the Hebrew and finest dake in his study did some wonderful commentary on that word. This was not as the King James kind of paints it kind of as a storage place, a place that we just kind of framed out and it says they put a bed in there. A candlestick and a stool is what the King James says. But if you really study it out. An aliyah was a customary thing in upper middle class and rich homes. And it was set aside exclusively, exclusively for honored guests. It wasn't just some sort of side room that you threw your stuff in. It had a purpose. If you study your Bible carefully, you'll find out that Daniel prayed in an Eliah. That's what the Hebrew word is. Jesus shared his last meal in an upper chamber. It's the Greek equivalent of the word Eliah. The Holy ghost was poured out. Come on in an aliah. Psalm 26 says that God has chosen honor as the atmosphere of his habitation. So these holy things that took place in our scriptures took place in a location that the purpose of it was to show honor. The word stool is one of the worst translations I've come across in the King James. If you study it out, it literally means a canopied throne. I don't know where you get stool out of that, but it would be something. It was. Finest steak said it was the finest piece of furniture they would have had in their home. So the King James kind of fails us there. I want you to see her perception of who he was inspired a response we call honor. But you know, honor is not just something you say Honor is something you show. Now, she never even put in a prayer request. She did not have a side agenda. You know, some people. I've come across, people, they're working me. They're working me. She wasn't working him. She just working, wanted to bless him. That's it. She just wanted to bless him. Now, here's the first thing the Lord showed me in 2017. There came a day. The woman didn't say anything. Something gets up in the grill of the prophet, and he brings his servant over and says, what must be done for her? Notice the word must. What must be done for her? So they brought her, and he offered his influence. I'll talk to the king for you. Is there anything you need? Are the locals harassing you? I've got, you know, we get to army on them. Is there any. She goes, listen to her heart. No, I'm good. I don't want anything. I didn't ask you for anything. I just wanted to bless you. And so he had nothing else to do in that moment but to say, okay, and she left his presence. But I want you to notice something. He didn't let it go. He did not let it go. He kept marching the floor going, no, something must be done for her. And then Gehazi, he picked it up. Well, I noticed she's not the.

She.

She's never had a baby. She's never had a baby. And he goes, that's it. That's it. Get her back here. And he didn't ask her. He didn't even ask her if you want to change diapers in your 50s. I mean, she didn't even. He didn't even ask her. But he. He said, this time next year, according to the time of life, you will embrace the Son and listen. You could see her heart again. She said, don't play with me, preacher. Don't mess with the mama's heart. I didn't bring this up. Don't play with me. You kind of touched a sensitive area. That's my translation. See, I just wanted to bless you. But he wasn't moved. No. He said, it's going to come to pass. And it did come to pass. Here's what the Lord told me. Honor must be repaid. Honor must be repaid. That's why God put it in the heart of the prophet she honored. And that honor triggers something. Seems like, you know, prophets in the Old Testament, that's the only ministry gift they had. So you could really say all of the fivefold ministry gifts are sensitive to honor. If you'll learn to honor what you perceive about what's in a person. You'll get more out of them. But can I say, the prophet seems to be more sensitive. It's not about ego, but that office responds to honor and the honor you show God and the honor you show ministers by doing something financial and material. Listen to me. From God, that honor must be repaid. I know you just want to bless Pastor Nancy, but the honor must be repaid. This is what blows me away. Here's a woman. Here's a woman that either just didn't have the desire or the faith or both. She never even put in a prayer request. I have people in my church that don't have faith for nothing, but at least they put in a prayer request. Our faith might get it. But she didn't even do that. There's nothing to indicate she had faith for a baby. Evidently, she didn't have faith for a baby because she didn't have one. Her husband, too. So here's a question. Think about this real quick. How did this woman get a miracle, a miracle without having faith? How did God get that miracle to her? This is the second revelation God gave me. He got it to her through the open door of honor. Come on. Listen. All of us are developing. All of us are at different levels of our faith development. But you know what? You can excel in honor from the very first day because that's a matter of perception. That's a matter of the heart. While we're develop. You may not have the measure of faith to receive a certain thing yet, but God could still get it to you through the open door of honor. Come on. As we get ready to give tonight, is the door of honor open? You know, if God can reach my life through any avenue or open door, I want the door open. I want the door open now. I don't want to belittle this woman's faith. This woman stayed with the prophet. That baby was born. That baby grew to 18 years of age and died of a heat stroke. Listen, you could see faith in that moment. Do you see? She developed her faith over 18 years, and she got another miracle. Her boy raised from the dead in part because she didn't leave the prophet over a long time frame. Some people, they don't have a prophet to go back to because they got offended, whatever. But she stayed with the prophet and she developed her faith. And so she developed her faith. But I just wanted to share with you those two little nuggets. Come on. Honor must be repaid. I could tell You a story. I don't have time. It didn't happen Friday at 5. It didn't happen in a single year period. But through the ones you know, we're not perfect, Amber and I, by far, but we're trying to grow in honor all the time. And God has repaid our honor, that we've shown him his word and the people, the ministers that God's put into our life to bless us. Every offering you receive, that we receive. This week is an opportunity for you to open the door up. Because honor is shown with words. It is. We can hear honor in your talk, but honor's more than talk. If you want to get the kind of miracles this woman got, you're going to have to have the kind of honor she had and the kind of perception. You wouldn't want to waste your honor on a nobody. Am I being too hard? Hallelujah. But I tell you, we have such richness in our fellowship with Pastor Nancy in spiritual things, and we're going to be partaking of that all week. Amen. Let's open the honor door all the way to the doorstop so that God can reach our life through that avenue. Amen. Amen. Well, there are offering envelopes. The ushers are coming forward all around, scattered about your seat backs. The ushers also have offering envelopes. You're going to write your check payable to dm, I believe is correct this week. Dm. And don't forget, they do have the text to give option available for all us high tech folks that you could use. I don't carry a lot of cash on me because I'm a. I'm a cutting edge kind of person. Hallelujah. No, I need to carry more cash on me. But anyway, I like the electronic age we live in. I just do. Praise God. It makes things so convenient and that's why they've done that. So take advantage of that. Amen. Usher. Should I pray? Is that okay? Okay. Father, we come before you and we recognize you first. You are the giver of such wonderful gifts, ministry gifts, to equip us, to mature us, to cause us to be all that you have called us to be and able to do. All that you've called us to do. Father, I pray that your spirit would sweep across this auditorium and give us a fresh perception of who we have and what we have. This ministry and all of the ministers who lead it. God, our lives have been so enriched by you through this ministry. We perceive that so readily. We're showing our honor tonight through our giving Father, I thank you that the honor we have shown that we show tonight that we will show all throughout this meeting that there's going to come a time where it's going to trigger that mechanism in your heart, that the honor we have showed will be repaid. That's not our motive, but we're glad about it and we're so grateful that you have another avenue that you can reach. Our lives, the open door of honor. We thank you for it. In the mighty name of Jesus. And everybody said Amen.

Dufresne Ministries Podcast – Campmeeting 2019, World Harvest Church, Murrieta, CA
Date: June 21, 2019
Speaker: Chris Cody
This episode features guest minister Chris Cody delivering the offering message at the 2019 Campmeeting. Cody centers his message on the biblical principle that honor—especially the honor shown to ministers and ministry—must be repaid by God. Drawing from the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4, Cody shares personal revelations and practical takeaways about deepening one’s perception, the tangible nature of honor, and how opening the “door of honor” invites the blessings and miracles of God, sometimes even beyond the reach of one’s faith.
Scripture Focus: 2 Kings 4:8–37 (The Shunammite woman honors the prophet Elisha)
Perception Precedes Reception:
Honor in Actions, Not Just Words:
Biblical Echoes of Honor:
Unasked-for Blessings:
Divine Principle:
Cody shares his first revelation: “Honor must be repaid.” When genuine honor is shown—especially to God and His servants—God obligates Himself to reciprocate.
“Honor must be repaid. That’s why God put it in the heart of the prophet she honored. And that honor triggers something.”
—Chris Cody ([08:35])
Faith vs. Honor:
The Avenue of Miracles:
Cody’s second insight: Even if one’s faith isn't sufficient for a particular miracle, the “open door of honor” can make God’s blessings accessible.
“God could still get it to you through the open door of honor.”
—Chris Cody ([11:24])
Development and Consistency:
Practical Implication:
Showing Honor Tangibly:
Personal Reflection:
Cody attests from personal experience that he and his wife have seen God's repayment through their continued efforts to grow in honor.
“God has repaid our honor, that we’ve shown him, his word, and the people—the ministers that God’s put into our life to bless us. Every offering you receive...is an opportunity for you to open the door up, because honor is shown with words. It is. But honor’s more than talk.”
—Chris Cody ([13:10])
Encouragement for the Week:
Chris Cody’s message urges listeners to recognize and act on the power of honor—especially towards God’s ministers. Honor is not just talk, but an actionable, heart-driven choice that can trigger God’s blessings, even in the absence of faith for a particular miracle. As Cody summarizes, “Honor must be repaid,” making honor both an avenue for personal blessing and a vital key to unlocking God’s favor. Listeners are encouraged to give with perception and genuine esteem, knowing it opens doors not only for themselves but for God’s supernatural movement in their lives.
