I was okay. I was opening my Halloween costume the other night, and my knife got stuck on, like, a zip tie. So, like, it got, like, notch in it, so I pulled it really quick. And, like, you know when you think you have more tension in your arm than you do? Well, I didn't, so I called back, and it just.

The knives we had in our kitchen are so. It's crazy.

It's disgusting. Yeah.

It's scary how sharp these knives are. We got them off Amazon.

I had to lemon earlier.

It's crazy. So. But the first, like, seven or so minutes, I was in total shock, so I didn't feel it. I didn't know what to do. I just basically tourniquet in my own arm and then went to run it underwater. And when I went to run it underwater, I, like, let my arm go, and I just saw it. I was like, oh, listen, hold on. It gets worse. You ready? When I wiggled my fingers, I could see the tendons when I flexed. Like, when I was flexing, I could see the muscle moving. I could feel and hear the blood pulsating. It was. Guys, I cut straight through a nerve when her.

And fucking.

It was rough. I barely have function in this arm right now.

Kayla texts me. She's like, are you awake? And I'm like, yeah. She's like, the kid just sliced her arm open. So I'm thinking, like, you know. You know, we love Bailey, but she is sometimes a drama queen. So I didn't know what to expect, you know? And when I saw the look on Bailey's face and Kayla's face and I looked at her arm, like, I didn't want to freak out, but I was just like, you're okay. You're going to be good. Like, when Kayla broke her ankle, I'm like, you're fine. You're going to be fine. Don't worry about it.

Yeah, I literally hadn't freaked out until you really. You were really good at covering it up, but I Saw your face change for this split a second. Yeah, it went okay. And I was like. And I lost it. I was like 12 minutes at that point. I was covered in blood.

It was like terrify three in my room. Like, I. Yeah, Blake. Poor Blake. Had to clean up all the blood upstairs.

Well, A I was working so there was no point in that allowance, but B it's like a do something, get something type routine and I do the bare minimum if that.

So, yeah, NYU is in northern Manhattan and Columbia is in southern Manhattan. But that's where I want to go, and I want to study law. As for music, I don't have any plans to it right now. I don't know if I ever get.

Well, Columbia actually has both. Columbia does have both. So if you ever, like, started going and didn't want to do the law thing, you could switch right over to.

Exactly. So I have a lot of options at Columbia. But as for going from med to law, the real decision was made in the ER the other night. I decided I don't want to do that for the rest of my life.

I tell her every day how amazing she is, but she doesn't believe me. I feel so defeated and lost, like I can't help her. What can I do?

Okay, look, there isn't a piece of advice that's gonna fix anything for anybody. There isn't a single thing I can say that worked for me that's gonna work for somebody else. Because you know how much advice I got that didn't do anything? Throw something at the wall until it sticks is really the only piece of advice I got. But also, and I really, I really just at this point in my life, four months ago, something in like 15, 16, 17 year old girl brain is just going to flip. And you're just going to stop caring. And not in the bad way. You're going to care about the important things. You're going to care about your future. You're Going to care about what actually matters, but everything else is gone with the wind.

So I would just say get yourself to a point that you can flip that switch and focus on yourself and focus on what matters, because there's only a couple more years you have left to actually kind of figure out what you want before you have to, like, step into what you want. So I don't know. Just wait. Just wait it out. And I know it sounds like a really terrible piece of advice. Wait it out, because at some point, that flip's going to switch. That switch is going to flip. I can't use words. And you're going to realize that you're the only person that has to live with yourself, and you've got to do what's right for you.

And I also think, as a parent, just reassurance helping. I think with Bailey, I had to really learn to kind of let her come to me with, like, I would go to her and be like, okay, we're going to have a meal plan, and we're going to eat like this, and we're going to do this, and we're going to exercise. And she would feel like I was calling her fat or, like, I would hurt her feelings because I was totally. And that was. As a parent, that wasn't my intention. But now, Bailey, I leave her alone and just let her do whatever, and she'll come to me and be like, all right, Mom, I'm meal prepping. I'm gonna work out. Can you help me with my macros? Or can you help me with. You know, like, when she comes to me for advice now? And I think that you just kind of, as a parent, you have to back off, but just always let them know that you think they're beautiful and that they're.

I was thinking about that squirrel episode of Rick and Morty where all the squirrels try to eat Rick and Morty. So I got distracted and I was sitting there and I was like, 1, 2, 3. And then I zoned back in and I was like, oh, my God. So I double tanned half my body and I also got a double dark with no tint and no hydration.

Take away access to objects in a non obvious way. Because if we don't, if there's not something that you can immediately see that you're like, I can use that, then you're not going to use it. But if it's obvious that stuff's been taken, you're gonna find a way. So as for that, that's a piece I would say. And then don't get angry. That's the biggest mistake you can make is because like that, that and I get that it's a lot of times reactive. A lot of it. Sometimes it's out of fear or just being upset that people get angry. But getting angry with your child for cutting themselves like that isn't gonna do anything to make them do it more.

Because you just can't get angry. You have to be compassionate and you can't, you can't make them feel like you're throwing them under the bus. Because that's like, that's a big. That's a dark, shameful secret for people to have and for somebody that you love and care about so much to find out about it. It's a very shocking experience for both of you. And I current. I wasn't the happiest about it. I'm out of state with it now that I'm supportive of whatever decision you and my father make and however you go about this, and I really hope the best for it. Do I have a lot of concerns about it? Yes. Do I worry about you and dad's ability to balance a baby in our lifestyle? I do. I think having an 8 year old at that level was different. Having a 16 year old at where we are now is different.
