Foreign. Welcome to the Earn the right to live your dreams podcast. This is Coit Cooper. Hey, everybody. What is going on? It's Coit here, coming to you with another podcast. And today we're going to be talking about the topic do your job and dream real big. Listen, I get it. You have been taught your entire life to tone down your expectations and to fit in. If you're lucky, you had somebody in your life, whether it be a parent, a coach, an aunt, an uncle, a brother, somebody close to you that encouraged you to go for it. But the reality is, this is extremely rare. And the people around you don't mean to hurt you. They just don't know how to dream big themselves. And so what we want to be able to do is to teach you to do the opposite. Also, our job is to put you in a position to succeed beyond your wildest expectations. I want you to learn how to blow people away because you live life at such a high level. Here's what I truly believe. I believe that that starts with your ability to dream, your ability to believe you can achieve amazing things, remarkable things, because if you don't, I don't believe that you can create energy in your life. And so what we want to talk about in this podcast episode is the four things that you can do to just develop the ability to dream real big. And most people, this is a foreign concept. If you were to go out and chat with them and say, what is it you need to be doing? They'd have no idea. So we're going to break it down. We're going to make it really simple, and we're going to say, do these four things. Do them every single day, pursue them, and eventually you're going to develop the ability to dream in a way that 99.9% of all people cannot, or at least I shouldn't say cannot. They will not, because they're not willing to do these things. And so the good news is, you're here, you're listening. You want better in your life, and we're gonna give you better. And so here is step one. If you want to develop the ability to dream real big, the first thing that you have to do is ask yourself this question. If you could do anything, anything in the world, and you could not fail, what would it be? And when I'm working with people, and I've had the chance to work with thousands of people now, and I ask them this question, and you have to throw in the part where it says you could not fail, a genie took it out of the equation, it's not possible for you to fail. What would you do? Because if you don't add that part, people will just assume that anything that's really lofty and out there and there's a chance of failing and a high chance of failing, they just won't even try. And so the very first thing you have to do is you have to think about those things. What are the things that charge you up? What would you love to do with your life? What, when you get to the end of it, what's the one thing or the multiple things that if you did them, would leave you feeling great on your deathbed? That's the question that you ask yourself. Here's the second part. Once you've done that, you have to entertain the idea that it's possible. You know, believe that it's possible. And not only that, the sooner you get to the point where you say it's not only possible, but it's probable, if I work my butt off, it's probable that this will happen, the sooner off you're going to get to the point where you can do remarkable things. So that's the first thing you do, is to go through that question, ask that question, know the answer to that question. When somebody asks you that, you have to get to the point where you're excited to tell them. And that's a difficult thing because most of the time we're pretty embarrassed to tell people our aspirations. It's as if we live in a society. If somebody asks you, you know, what your dreams are, you're embarrassed about it, but yet you could tell them the things you complain about. And that's normal. And I think that's wrong about life. So that's the first thing you have to do, is to ask that and believe it's possible. The second thing you have to do is this. I actually just came back from an event where I gave a talk. It was at the Beachbody Super Saturday event. And I talked to people about earning the right to live their dreams. And one of the tests, I believe that there are tests for authenticity, that when you have monster dreams and aspirations, that you're going to be tested. There's just no question about it. And your ability to pass these tests will determine whether or not you get to live a those amazing dreams that charge you up, the ones we just talked about. And here's one of the main things that will happen, that when you go out and you start to pursue things, and this is something that I believe builds up because of Your background, in your environment, and maybe some of it's human nature, I don't know. But when you go out and you have these monster aspirations, at some point they're going to scare you. That's normal. It's okay. If they scare you, that means that you've done your job and you pick aspirations that will pull you way out of your comfort zone. What's not okay is this, that when you go out, and a lot of times it'll be because you stop moving a little bit, all of a sudden in your mind your brain will start to say, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, hold up. That's pretty big. I don't know about that. You really think you should be doing that. And everybody has this voice in their head and it comes in different forms. But here's what I'm going to tell you. When that voice comes, tell that silent critic to shut up. You don't need that at all. You've got to get to the ability where you acknowledge that that's taking place and tell it to leave somewhere else. You don't need that. And so once you develop the ability to acknowledge that and to get rid of it and redirect on the positive all the reasons why you can make this happen, the better off you're going to be. So that's the number two thing that you have to do. The number three thing is to practice the pursuit of your dreams. Take steps to close the gap on your goals. I believe that dreaming is a skill set. I believe it's very much the same as public speaking. You know, you have to work at it. And if you've neglected it for a long time, you have to work at it even harder. If you've settled for the status quo in your life for years and years and years, you've got to cultivate the ability to dream. Here's what I tell people to do. Start with putting your aspirations to paper. Write your goals down. Write some one year goals down, write them down every day, revisit them. Identify action items this week, tomorrow that you can do and start taking action towards them. And here's what will happen as you develop, you develop the ability to follow through. You're going to cultivate confidence. With confidence comes this belief that you can do really neat things. And as you close the gap and you start to achieve goals, even one month, goals that are a little bit smaller, you cultivate your ability to dream. And all of a sudden you're going to start getting excited about the things that you're doing in your Life. And that's an amazing thing. You're cultivating your ability to dream. You've got to bring it back. I tell you what, there may not be a better skill set than your ability to not only have vision, but your ability to go out and believe you're going to make it happen. It's a rare skill set. It's a differentiator. It's an elite performer type of thing, and that's what you want to be. And then the number four thing is, as you move through this process is to continue to elevate your standards. This is such an important thing, because as you move through and you start to develop that skill set and you get better and better, the last thing you want to do is just get comfortable. As you get better and better, you want to reevaluate your standards. Say, you know what? I sold myself short. The reality is, humans, we most of the time have no idea what we're actually capable of. But as you close the gap and you start to achieve things, you start to realize, wow, I can do some amazing things. And that is such an empowering feeling. But you've got to continue to elevate those standards, close the gaps. You know, go after goals, you know, chase them down, live an awesome life. Of course you're treating people amazing around you while you're doing it, but build momentum and then continue to do that until you are absolutely charged about your life, about your dreams, about all those things, because that's what living is all about. And if you can do those four things, if you can ask the question and believe it's possible, if you can tell your silent critic to shut up. If you can pursue your dreams and develop that skill set and you can continue to elevate your standards. Here's what I truly believe. I think you are going to live all of your dreams. I believe that you will. But you got to earn that right. You know how I feel about that. If you've listened to my other episodes, that's what this is all about. Here's what I'm telling you to do. Get your butt out there this week and earn that right by asking the questions you should be asking. Stop settling for average in your life. If you can't stand the way that it is, do something about it now. You will be happy down the road. When you're living the exact life you want to live and you're charged about every aspect about it, that's what it's all about. Let's have a great week, and I'll look forward to coming back to you again. Take care. Hey everybody. I hope you love this episode.
