Foreign welcome to the earn the right to live your dreams podcast. This is Coy Cooper. Hey, everybody. Welcome to another edition of the earn the right to live your dreams podcast. We're going to break it down today. We're going back to another lesson, and today. I'm fired up about today. I think this is a topic that we. We don't cover near enough. I think in our society, we get so focused on success, like, that's the main focus, and there's nothing wrong with that. You know, we all want to achieve some really neat things. And if you want to do that, cool. I mean, you should have goals where you want to achieve lofty dreams. I mean, heck, the whole title of this entire podcast is earn the right to live your dreams. And no question that your dreams are going to have to do with things financially. They're going to have to do with things that you want to achieve for yourself as a person. They're going to have to do with things that you want to achieve for other people. But here's what I believe. I believe that your ability to do all of these things are going to be determined by your ability to become a remarkable person. And I think that's the stem, at most really, truly meaningful accomplishments. The ones that make the world a better place, the ones that make you memorable, those are ones that are done from people that take the time to be truly remarkable. They live at such a high level that it becomes inevitable that they're going to attract people, they're going to attract opportunities, they're just going to get to do amazing, cool things. It's wrong that we forget to focus on that. And if you want to live a great life, you want to achieve amazing things that last long after you're gone from this world, then you got to focus on being a remarkable human being. And that's what we want to do today. We're going to break it down. So why is this so important? I think I've already told you. But in the words of the great John C. Maxwell, a person that's impacted millions and millions of people across the world, success is an inside job. It starts with you. All great accomplishments start with you as an individual. You elevate yourself, you elevate your ability to impact others. Gandhi said something very similar. Be the change that you want to see in the world. You know, you want to, you know, impact other people, you want to create positive change, then you got it. You got to create those same things in yourself. You know, you have to become an energy person, a vision person. That's what's going to allow you to go out and to achieve great things. And so, you know, really, we could go on and on. I could give you all kinds of examples from people that will tell you the same thing. But the bottom line is you have to become the type of person who deserves lofty aspirations. You know, we're this instant gratification society. We have these things. I want to be a GM of a sports team, I want to write a best selling novel, I want to become a medical doctor. And we want it right now. But that's not the way that it works. You know, you've got to deserve that. You know, when you look at your aspirations and you know the things you want to achieve, rather than saying, how can I get there quickly stop and say what type of human being, what I have to be to not only reach that level, but. Or to reach that, whatever that is, but to be amazing at it, that's what you want to do. Live at such a high level that the success part is inevitable. It will take care of itself. But the point is that you must earn success by becoming a remarkable human being. And so that's what we're going to break down right now. What we're going to do is just what are five things you can do right now? And this will not get everything. I think this entire podcast, the next year you're going to have 50 episodes that are going to help focus, help you focus on how to be better. But for now, I just want to give you starting points. And the first thing you need to do is understand that awesome human beings who live a memorable life, they're intentional. They don't happen by accident. They don't just make these impressions on the world and just stumble upon it. They think about the person they want to become and then they take the time to know the life they want to live. And then they just have the discipline to do it. And that's what we want you to be able to do. What can you do to bring it to fruition? So we're going to start with this five things. Here are five things, if you start moving on, that will help you become a remarkable human being. I believe that very few people do these things. In fact, I've worked with thousands of people this last year. And before even working with them, I know that this is an extremely rare thing. So the moment you do it, you will differentiate, you will become different. And the coolest thing is you'll start to realize what your potential really is. And so the number one thing I would tell you is this. It's not rocket science. Start to ask yourself, who do you want to become as a person? You know, this seems like it should be common sense, and yet I don't think anybody really asks this question most of the time. A lot of times we'll look about what we want to achieve, but not the person we want to become. I believe that the person you want to become is more important than the aspiration part. You get that right, and you just live an extremely rewarding life. And then the outcome is the success. We've talked about that. And so ask yourself what type of person you want to become. If you struggle with this. This is something, you know, that I've covered in my Impressions. The Power of Personal Branding book and living an Extraordinary Life is two different things you can do. Number one is the funeral exercise, and I didn't make this up. This is something that Dr. Stephen Covey did, a legendary, you know, personal growth and just remarkable person, would do with people in audiences is he would ask them to sit in the audience of their funeral and to watch the most important people in your life go up to the front and have them say things about you. You know, what, what would they say about you? If you're being completely honest, and we'll talk about this more than once on this podcast, because it's that important, but you got to be honest with yourself. And as people are talking, you're going to realize things about yourself. You're going to realize where you're falling short. You're going to realize who you really want to become. And if you do this exercise, it will help you understand that. Another one that I think is really is called the Impact Makers Activity. Sit down and think about the people who have just drastically impacted your life. And once you've done that, make a list, 3, 5, 7, whatever it is, and then write down what makes them unique. And what you're going to find is you're going to get in touch with values and things that you think are really important to you. Because if you remember them and they impacted you, they're things that are just, you know, important. These are remarkable human beings. And so when you think about those things, you're going to get in touch with saying, this is the type of person I want to become. And when you're positive about what that is, that's a powerful thing because then you can get to work making it happen. And that's one of the most important things, is being intentional with the process. So it starts with that. And once you've done that, once you've asked that question enough, once you've written down your answers to the funeral exercise, the impact makers exercise, you've really thought about it. One of the most powerful things you can do, and I truly believe that this is equally or more important than writing down your goals or values or your dreams is this. Create a list of desirable core values. What are these attributes? The things that you want to be able to model on a daily basis to become the type of person you want to become. For me, and this has taken me years to go down, but my number one value is adding value to people. I mean, that's what I want to do. That's what. When I interact with people, that's. I hope that the people would tell you that that's who I am. I want to be an energy person. You know, I want people to know when they interact with me that that's what I am. And there's a. There's a variety of different things. Caring, you know, you can be a positive person. Integrity, all these different things that are important. But the point is, you don't create ones for everybody else. You create the ones that matter to you. And once you get a list of five to seven values that you love and you say, these are the things that I want to be, these are the things that I want people to say at my funeral, then you got something and you're excited about them. Then you move to step three, which is to place your values in a place that's visible. And there are so many different ways to do this, but the number one thing I would recommend you to do is to create a list. And if you're an artistic person, create a list that looks great. I mean, you're not going to like your list as much if you're an artistic person. If it looks boring, make a really cool thing. There's so many apps out there where you can pull it on there, put your apps on there, put a background picture, use different graphics. But once you've done that, see that? Every single morning, get up 15 minutes early and look at it. Every single morning, remind yourself that this is the person you want to become. Picture yourself at your funeral. Picture yourself at your son's graduation, or picture your son and your daughters or whoever it is talking about you someday, and picture them saying those things. It's a powerful, powerful thing. And then also on top of that, put them in places where they're visible. Put them beside your bed, Put them on your phone on your screensaver. Put them in places where you're going to see them, because you're going to need it. Because the world is so busy and cluttered, it's going to pull you in a lot of different directions. And your job is to stay connected. And if you have the discipline to stay connected, to know your values and to live them, it's an awesome thing, man. You will be authentic. People will look at you and go, wow, how is this person doing these things? He or she is amazing. And the way that you're doing them, you're seeing them every day. They're in places that are visible. And then you move to number four, which is modeling one moment, one value at a time. I would never tell you to create a list of five to seven values and go out and model them all. That can overwhelm you. It's a hard thing to model a value extremely well. Even the process of modeling is a skill set. And what I would tell you is to pick your top value and start with that. And every single day, go into your day after you revisit your values in the morning and say, this is the one I'm going to do. Here's how. I'm going to be great at this value today, modeling it. And then you got to get out and you got to live it, and you got to remind yourself throughout the day, maybe set something on your phone that reminds you after an hour to say, how did you do with this? How can you do better at this? Don't take up a ton of your time, but remind yourself it's one moment at a time, it's one value at a time. Meaning you chunk things down, you become great at modeling. And then once you've done that and you feel comfortable, then you can move on to the next. And essentially what you're doing is you're establishing a habit. If energy is one of your things and you're not great at it, you want to be better. You have to remind yourself. And then what's going to happen is you remind yourself and you are present when you're interacting with people and you're showing enthusiasm and energy to them, eventually what's going to happen is that will become your norm, but that a lot of times that takes 30 days to establish a habit, and you have to be willing to do that for that amount of time. And then the final thing, we're going to keep this short in this episode. It's just. And this is the one, right? You know, all these different things are strategies, but at the end of the day, as you move through this and you invest in yourself, and another thing I would tell you is make sure that you're reading and you're investing yourself on a daily basis. The things I tell you in the other episodes. But you got to cultivate. This is number five. You got to cultivate a strong inner desire to be crazy different. Your job is not to be average. Your job is not to go and go out and be like everybody else. You are not created to be that way. Your job is to know the exact person you want to become this remarkable person and then just be passionate about it. You know, love your values. Like, want to become the type of person that just impacts people just in a crazy, crazy way and that lives at such a high level that you just get to achieve amazing things. That's your job. You have to cultivate that strong inner desire. The problem is, a lot of you have been told to settle. We've talked about this. You've settled for average a lot of part of your life. And you're going to have to earn this. You're going to have to work for this. You're going to have to remind yourself to be crazy unique. But that should be your mantra. Be different. Don't settle for being average. You weren't created that way. And so once you get this, you'll know I'm talking to you right now. And I'm fired up about it because I believe in this. You know, I believe in being a unique human being, you know, that just does amazing things to make the world a better place. You can do that as well. You can become a remarkable person once you have this deep inner desire. I believe it's only a matter of time. If you practice these fundamentals on a daily basis, your values should become so strong that they allow you to earn the right to live all your dreams. And what you'll end up doing is once you have these values, your job is to connect them to your goals. And we will talk about how to do that in the future. But to earn that right, and you got to earn it, man. I mean, I'm going to tell you that over and over again all the time. The males, females, young, old, I don't care who you are, you're never too old. Earn the right to live your dreams. And I'm going to leave you with one last thought. And that last thought is this. Live your life at such a high level every single day that you inspire people around you to be better. You want to have influence on people. You want to achieve crazy cool things, then become a crazy cool person. Become a remarkable person. Then you will earn the right and things will fall into place for you. Set a standard of excellence that makes it inevitable that you will become the type of person that can make a lasting impression on the world. That's what I believe living is all about. Hopefully you loved this episode. If you did, you know, tell somebody about it. Let's get more and more people listening to this, and I'm going to keep bringing you awesome message.
