Getting to a great idea is hard in college. Nonsensical essays, cringe inducing presentations, and seemingly unsolvable problem sets. But then the first thought becomes a final thesis. Jumbled slides transform into a polished keynote. And that midterm assignment gets a lot less mid because the road to great ideas is littered with bad ones. You just have to keep going until something clicks. Great ideas start on Mac. Find out more on apple.com college my

Hi guys.
Kai
We're not going to be looking at you at all. It's going to be a better thing.
Carrie Brownstein
At least I Have something better to look at.
Kai
We're here with Mary Beth Barone. I say I have better things to look at because if you're not looking, I get a view of Mary Drew has to look at time.
Kai (another perspective)
Okay.
Mary Beth Barone
And I get so good and.
Drew
Yeah, this is actually really good for me.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, well, you get.
Drew
I like boys.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
Oh, I forgot. I forgot that about you.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah. Did you know that Drew's gay?
Mary Beth Barone
No.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah, he's gay.
Drew
Is that okay?
Kai
We thought about running it by you before.
Lele Pons
About.
Mary Beth Barone
Wait, that makes sense why I met your. I met a boyfriend of yours at one point.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay, cool. That makes a lot more sense now because I was really confused when I thought that you. You were like mlw with a boyfriend.
Drew
Well, I am. This is like my day one. Day one. This is my day one. We have all the time.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. You can still be gay and.
Drew
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
With hot girls.
Drew
That one girl that, like, goes up to the counter and, like, orders Cheesecake Factory and eats it and asks for it for free because she says, I knew it. Y' all know that one.
Mary Beth Barone
No, but what does she mean by that?
Drew
It's like Karen mode. She, like, goes up and it's like a whole bin.
Mary Beth Barone
I know. Like, holding up.
Drew
Yeah, she's like, I knew it. I knew it.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I've seen the Cheesecake Factory one. But that's okay. We're getting the same stuff.
Drew
Speaking of Cheesecake, Cheesecake Factory, have y' all seen the cake pop drama on TikTok? Yes.
Kai
Oh, okay. Earlier, this was one of his topics. He read out. I misheard him as K pop. And then I didn't say anything because I was like, okay, maybe Mary Beth Brown is, like, really tapped into the K pop.
Drew
No, the cake pop and I.
Mary Beth Barone
And by the way, not tapped into that either. So let's get into it.
Drew
Okay. So there is this cake pop creator. She's like the goat. She does her thing.
Mary Beth Barone
Sorry, one quick question. This is a specific brand of cake pops or this is the Starbucks cake pops.
Drew
This is specific brand. She makes her own. Oh, and she uses cake mix.
Kai
Cake pops Back to a local endeavor.
Drew
Well, no, it's literally giving that.
Kai
It's getting a bit big. Let's take it back.
Mary Beth Barone
Think globally, but act locally.
Drew
Yes, yes, yes. But she uses cake mix for her cake pops, which, like, is not problematic.
Mary Beth Barone
But the thing would never think it was, by the way.
Drew
Well, no, I get beef in the,
Kai
like, baking industry of, like, oh, you're going to sell me a $20 box of cake Mix. But just because you put it in the oven, you want to upcharge me.
Mary Beth Barone
But then I'm like, but you're not
Kai
going to bake it and make it yourself.
Mary Beth Barone
You won't.
Drew
Exactly.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay.
Drew
So she has her own recipe, and she put out a recipe book on, like, the steps to make a cake pop, and she uses Betty Crocker cake mix. While this, like, random girl with, like, 100 followers, like, started her own cake pop business and was like, I'm selling cake pops. Da, da, da. This is like how I make. And she used a very similar recipe and steps that this one girl used. And this girl, the OG Made this, like, long dissertation about this, like, popsies girl with a hundred followers. No, literally. And was like, I'm suing for defamation.
Kai
Like, you only have 100 followers. Kill yourself. Die.
Mary Beth Barone
Die.
Drew
Well, that's the whole thing.
Kai
I feel like, what? What is that? Like, it's. I guess it's the same thing that happens to the average citizen who graduates high school, feels like nothing, and then becomes a cop. And it's like that inst. Relief of, like, phew, I'm not nothing.
Mary Beth Barone
I'm a power position. Worse.
Kai
That has to be the same thing of, like, I'm not just a random girl who bakes, baby. I have 20k.
Drew
20k, 20k.
Mary Beth Barone
And a proprietary recipe, by the way.
Drew
Exactly. That she put into a recipe.
Kai
Let me license their name, by the way.
Mary Beth Barone
I love being on TikTok and seeing a drama that I don't know either side of the beef. And I just scroll past.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
I'm like, I'm actually. I can't engage with this right now. Sometimes I'll open the comments and if I can click the one blue suggested thing and get like, a lot of backstory, I'm locked. But I just generally with those, I'm just like, there's too many corners. There's too many threads to follow.
Drew
This one got so gnarly because the girl that got ousted by the popular girl, she gained, like, half a million followers essentially overnight. Yeah. Literally. Let's kill her. This is bullshit.
Kai
And that's why you. When you see someone smaller than you, kill them before they can get yourself.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Drew
Squish them.
Kai
Yeah. And that's why she was trying to kill her.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai
But it backfired.
Drew
She didn't show a ton of followers at, like, literally less than 12 hours later.
Kai
That must feel so awesome one day feeling like you're going to kill yourself because it's like, oh, my God, All I did. I'm getting the next day.
Drew
Well, literally your whole city. 12 hours. 12 hours after basically that she gained half a million followers. She started losing followers because in her fucking tik tok repost, she was reposting Maga Trump shit. So she rode like, the high and was like, she was feeding into the beef and the drama too. She was like, yeah. Like, she would go to cake pop stands around her house and see, like, the same recipe that she got in trouble for using and being like, I'm buying this one. Well, it turns out she's a bad person and voted for Donald Trump.
Kai (another perspective)
Wow.
Drew
And lost her clout.
Kai (another perspective)
Isn't that kind of like what happened at the. With the World cup where they made that one guy super famous? Did you hear about this guy? There was a guy. There was like this thing online where they're like, let's find the least. The person with the least amount of
Drew
followers of the players.
Kai (another perspective)
Of the players. And then brutal. Make him.
Drew
I'd hate.
Mary Beth Barone
I'm like, actually, I'm good.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah, I know.
Kai
Such a backhanded, like, the least amount
Drew
of followers at this table.
Kai
We're so uninterested in you. We're gonna make it a thing to be interested in you.
Mary Beth Barone
And then, by the way, we're gonna expose your political beliefs. Was this on the American team?
Kai (another perspective)
No, I don't know what team it was on. I don't really know the details, but. Because I don't watch sports because I'm an ally, but.
Lele Pons
Right.
Mary Beth Barone
Wait, you have an eyelash. Isn't that crazy? And I'm an allies.
Drew
Make a wish.
Mary Beth Barone
So I'm gonna. Oh, nope. And I know my eyes. I pull his eyeball out. Make a wish.
Kai (another perspective)
I wanna have sex with Drew or fuck. I said it alone.
Drew
Come here. Let me see.
Kai
Well, now it's not gonna come true.
Drew
Shit. No, we'll make it come true.
Kai (another perspective)
It's gonna come true again.
Drew
It'll come true.
Kai (another perspective)
Okay, basically, they made this guy who I think had like 600 followers. He has like a million now. And then within a week, he started, like, hitting up all these girls.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, wait, no, I like that. I'm pro that.
Lele Pons
Shoot your shot.
Kai (another perspective)
Yes, of course, of course.
Mary Beth Barone
Wait, wait, that's totally show.
Kai
He's.
Kai (another perspective)
No. Oh, he's not maga. It was just like he speed ran, becoming like an Internet personality and then like, dming girls basically within like 48 hours.
Drew
I agree.
Mary Beth Barone
Is this thing you guys vape on camera and you can put that on YouTube.
Drew
Isn't it crazy? I mean, I don't Think we can, but we do. Like, we've been asked.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, not for long.
Drew
Yeah, dude.
Kai
I mean, once they started letting.
Mary Beth Barone
When my dad finds out what you're doing, you're. It's curtain spray.
Drew
Is your dad anti vape?
Mary Beth Barone
He has passed, but he was pro cigar, so I'm sure in some way he could see the value in that.
Drew
You know, he would love it.
Mary Beth Barone
I think he would be.
Drew
He would be on board.
Kai
My dad smokes cigars, and he gets on me about smoking vapes.
Mary Beth Barone
Cigar smokers are sort of on a high horse, I find.
Kai
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
But I'm like, I. I guess I sort of get it.
Kai
I get it because I have hit a cigar once in my life, and I did throw up everywhere. My dad felt so bad. He was like, dude, oh. Because I inhaled it and I just, like. I was like, you're not. You haven't been inhaling this. Like, I literally felt like that scene in Pinocchio when he, like, throws up.
Drew
There's a huge niche in the gay community where, like, they ash cigar cigars on the sub, just FYI.
Kai (another perspective)
Really?
Drew
And, like, they're like, I knew. Yeah. I thought you were an ally kind.
Kai (another perspective)
I am an ally.
Drew
Yeah. They have, like, big, hairy, round, rotund bellies and they smoke their cigars and then they, like, ash it on their twink, Dude. Like, I wouldn't know.
Kai
Like, gay men are so awesome because they have genuinely taken, like, sex and intimacy and brought it into a new lifetime of sport. Like, it genuinely can go in. It's a beautiful fashion ever. No, it genuinely is. Like, damn. Because I do feel like a lot of straight people in their sex life are, like, lacking some sort of play in their sex life. And everybody's a bit rigid and very fearful, especially of, like, looking silly. And there is something very silly about that. Like, what do you mean? I'm gonna let you. Like, we're gonna set this up and it's gonna get both of us off. Like, that's a bit silly. And for two people to move forward, I'm like, wow.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, to even suggest it and then, not only that, but to find someone that's willing to do it. It's, like, kind of beautiful.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai
You really have to be putting yourself out there. You do.
Mary Beth Barone
You have to allow yourself to be vulnerable enough to say, like, I would love to ash a cigar on you, Twink.
Drew
Yeah, twink. And then getting on, asking, oh, so we're going there? Yeah, we're going.
Mary Beth Barone
We're going there.
Kai
That's like, that.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay, here's what's interesting, I was out on Friday night, and I hate being at tables where there's more straight guys than there are, like, any other category. We had one gay guy. There was like, maybe four or five straight guys, and then, like, three women. And somehow the conversation got to the. Rachel was so off. It was like, how much would. How much would you have to get paid to. On a stranger? And not only that, but then they asked $0.
Kai
How much would you.
Mary Beth Barone
How much would you have to get paid to shit on a friend? So we were going into that territory, and I just said, like, this is what happens when straight men commandeer the combo. And I'm.
Kai (another perspective)
I'm like, me last episode.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
They go, what do you.
Lele Pons
What.
Mary Beth Barone
What do you. What hypotheticals do you get into when you're in your free time? And I go, we don't do that. We're talking about reproductive rights. So.
Kai
So we have real life things we
Mary Beth Barone
don't need to talk about. If this crazy thing happened, it's like we are all dealing with crazy things every single day. We're like, what do we do? Because this crazy thing actually happened.
Drew
Do you rem.
Mary Beth Barone
Asked me to shit on him? What do I. What do I do? No, that's not happening. And what do you do that hasn't happened yet?
Drew
Okay.
Kai
I don't know, dude. I think I would laugh so hard.
Drew
I.
Kai
Like, I. I think that would be too crazy.
Kai (another perspective)
So we have put together some questions for you because we are a professional podcast and we're journalists. Since we're podcasters, that basically means that we're journalists.
Mary Beth Barone
Boots on the ground.
Drew
Boots on the ground. House down. I watch thought provoking. Oh, God, yes. Let's wake that up.
Mary Beth Barone
Thanks for watching that.
Drew
Yes. So Galaxy Brain, right? Coming out soon.
Kai (another perspective)
July 28.
Mary Beth Barone
July 28.
Drew
July 28. Tune the fuck in, guys.
Kai
We're all meeting up at Netflix hq. Also, I'll be bringing up my projector and putting it on the side of the building. It is illegal for us to be there, but bring your own beer.
Mary Beth Barone
Bring your own beer.
Drew
Byob. So you and I were both, like, talking in privately, like, not too long ago about Galaxy Brain. So it's the first stand up written fully by ChatGPT, right?
Mary Beth Barone
Yes. Okay, well, it's ChatGPT. And Claude contributed as well.
Drew
Oh, okay, cool. Okay, that's sweet.
Kai (another perspective)
That's collaborative because we want both sides of the aisle.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, we want the one that girls use and the one that guys use.
Kai (another perspective)
Yes, exactly.
Kai
Is that like a thing?
Mary Beth Barone
I'm finding a lot of men referencing claw day to day in a way that I'm supposed to just totally be on board with and I'm not here for it.
Kai
Yeah.
Drew
Fears.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
I have been able to. I think. No, I'm just such a about it that nobody. Everybody like, tiptoes around, uses usage of AI. Oh, my gosh. On the this season of Love island, there was, first of all, the fact that this is a challenge. There was a challenge to write letters to one another and prove your literacy. So many of them were like, damn, I wish I had chat right now. Like, I wish I had.
Kai (another perspective)
No, they just said that, like, people
Kai
were like, dude, this is like difficult. Like, I don't even know what to like, it's British or American, and I wish it's American. My only thing I would change about that is I wish they scanned the letters. Because on top of the literacy crisis that's happening, nobody's talking about the handwriting epidemic that is coming after. There are people who have not like, written hand to paper in so long that they have the handwriting of a child. It literally looks like a make a wish letter. Like, it's like, oh, my God, this is like making me kind of sad. But it's. A grown adult is saying, no, this
Mary Beth Barone
child is in trou.
Chelsea Handler
Yeah.
Kai
Literally, like, this child needs something from me. But yeah, I'm really excited about that.
Mary Beth Barone
So we need that job in her where it's like you can just outsource to a human at least better, right?
Kai
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. And they do it in the handwriting, which. Yes, I guess kids don't learn cursive anymore, I'm being told, which is haunting.
Drew
And that literally, like, popped into my head when you were saying that there's going to be a generation of children in like 10 to 15 years that literally have never written a thing on pen and paper.
Mary Beth Barone
What's the hardest drug you've done?
Kai (another perspective)
Drew goes first.
Drew
Yeah, I've done everything. Poppers and it was crazy.
Mary Beth Barone
You've done every drug?
Drew
Yeah. Not like heroin, but pretty much, yeah. I'd say, like, the hardest thing was probably like 2 CB on accident.
Kai
What the.
Mary Beth Barone
Beyond my knowledge.
Drew
Like, is that a harder.
Kai (another perspective)
Like one of the harder drugs?
Drew
I mean, I think it's just more rare, so I consider it harder. It's like lsd, like in the same.
Kai (another perspective)
Okay.
Drew
Ballpark.
Kai (another perspective)
It's like coke but mildly psychedelic.
Drew
Right?
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay, that sounds interesting.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah. And how many calories are in TCB?
Kai
800. That's why it's rare, because people are like, okay, this is my cheat day.
Mary Beth Barone
It's a lot. I mean. So are you guys open about Kai's eating disorder on the pod? Is that a theme or. You guys.
Drew
But I'd love to hear your thoughts on it if Kai is comfortable.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah. Do you think I'm slaying?
Mary Beth Barone
I think you're slaying. I mean, for me. Because people often are like, he's straight. What do you see in him? Like, why are you friends? Why'd you have him direct your special? And I'm like, I didn't know people were like, he's inherently feminine. I'm like, he has an eating disorder. And then they go, oh. And it totally clicks in for them. And they go, I get it now.
Drew
But it's not like a boy eating disorder. It's like a fierce.
Mary Beth Barone
It's a girl one. It's like, oh, he's not intermittent basting, honey. He's weighing chicken.
Kai (another perspective)
I'm weighing my chicken, and I'm eating frozen blueberries. Because it's. When it's frozen, it's harder to eat, and you feel more full at the end.
Mary Beth Barone
It's like, Kai. It's like Kai gets his dieting from a Cosmo from 1987, and it's like that. But that's a. I actually find that quite endearing.
Drew
Yeah, you should do the Jackie Kennedy diet.
Kai
She was, like, eating boiled eggs. Like, she was eating, like, boiled eggs. Like, once again.
Mary Beth Barone
Because next time I FaceTime him, he's going to be like, I have to go turn off my ice.
Kai (another perspective)
Here's what you guys need to understand is I get. Get very full so quickly. I'll have, like, three almonds and I'm good.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
If I could eat more, I would.
Kai
When did you realize he had his eating disorder? Was it kind of an immediate thing, or.
Mary Beth Barone
I think he.
Kai (another perspective)
I kept it a secret for him.
Mary Beth Barone
I think it was a secret, and then. Yeah, it sort of slowly revealed itself. Where you go, why are you cooking chicken so much? Why do you have a scale? What's happening then? Sending photos of food, et cetera. Yeah. Kai, it's like he's an onion. You know, there's layers.
Drew
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
Which you might not think there are.
Drew
You know what? Onion powder.
Kai (another perspective)
I kind of like.
Kai
It's translucent, too.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, exactly.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Kai
So are you still just eating, like, chicken and potatoes every day?
Kai (another perspective)
Yes. Well, what people don't understand is that I actually have this autoimmune disorder that I've never mentioned.
Mary Beth Barone
Have you ever met a straight guy with an autoimmune disorder?
Ari Chambers
No.
Kai
The closest thing is Josie. And some would argue that he's not an eg Straight. Straight is something that's pushing it.
Mary Beth Barone
You guys are totally co opting our stuff, but I think it's actually brave and I think you should be speaking out about it more.
Kai (another perspective)
We're getting pretty bad because I. I'm starting to feel empathy now.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, I'm starting. That's a scary zone to be in.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
I'm starting to listen to women when they talk.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
So do you think you're just trying to, like, listen in for tips, though, on, like, how to, like, avoid certain tips.
Drew
Tips.
Kai (another perspective)
We do a bit where Drew plays this gay guy character where whenever he hears something, like, if you remotely gay.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, I'm picking up on it after the perks and then the tips. And then I'm wondering what's next, because there's gonna be something I don't expect.
Drew
I'm excited and I'm excited. I'm gonna pull it out of the ether. I'm gonna pull it out.
Mary Beth Barone
Did you guys see the movie about Dick Cheney that. I forget what it's called. I think it was this movie. I think it was called Dick or something, but basically Dick Cheney and Colin Powell, like, Colin Powell did a speech and, like, name dropped this one guy, and he got so much, like, credibility off that one name drop that he literally started ISIS because of that. So it was like, it was kind of our fault that it started.
Drew
Yeah, literally.
Mary Beth Barone
And if I'm misremembering that, I don't.
Apple Mac Advertiser
I don't.
Mary Beth Barone
You can't hold the accountable.
Kai
Perfect place to drop that information because so many things that are said on
Drew
are just lying sometimes.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, I love that.
Drew
Do y' all remember the guy that got gay back shots in the Senate?
Lele Pons
Of course.
Mary Beth Barone
Benny wanted to write a musical about that.
Drew
Oh, wow.
Mary Beth Barone
Filibust on My Back was going to be one of the songs.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, very good.
Drew
That is so good. Are there any lyrics to filibust on My Back?
Mary Beth Barone
We did a podcast episode, really Hungover after doing Ride Live one day, where he, like, went into the whole thing. And so that's somewhere on. Somewhere in the ether, there's that.
Drew
Wow.
Kai
Okay, I need to hear that. And I'm going to put it into chat GBT and do a whole script and put it on in la, because y' all live in New York, right?
Mary Beth Barone
So it's.
Kai
It's okay.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, you could do it here. And it's, like, totally above board.
Drew
Oh, wait, before.
Kai
I'll just get in contact with.
Drew
I need this for my AI data centers, actually.
Mary Beth Barone
So that water.
Drew
Yeah, that's.
Mary Beth Barone
You can have it. You can have it.
Kai
Oh my God. I'm not kidding, guys. What's going to happen? What's going to happen?
Drew
Well, I did see. This is really exciting. I did see a very empty corporate office with a big bell in the middle and like about 40 straight dudes freaking me out because a dude bought a grandma's piece of land for $23,000 and then immediately, within 20 minutes, sold it to an AI data center developing company for a half a million dollars and he got to ring the big bell. So that's kind of what we're dealing with with the AI data centers is they're buying old people's property and then selling it for half a million to data centers. So.
Kai
Oh, I thought it's really iconic like that.
Chelsea Handler
No, no, no.
Mary Beth Barone
Can I just say, Timothy Chalamet would like you to get into sports betting.
Drew
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
I just wanted you to know. Well, that's why I joined and so I, I know because you guys work with them and that's one of your guys big sponsors call she. So what we could do is actually go on there and place bets about what's going to happen with AI data centers.
Kai
Oh my God, that's so true.
Drew
What is that?
Kai
Can we, can you link your cal. Can you link this account? Like how does that.
Mary Beth Barone
Social media or is it sort of private?
Kai
No, that's. I don't understand. I'm like, like if I like made a bet on there, can I like post and be like, hey guys, let's
Mary Beth Barone
make bet against me sort of vibes. Make it like a party full.
Kai
Yeah, like, yeah, let's get like to community.
Drew
What I think we need to do is start a poly market or call she bet on this episode of the podcast Insider Trade. You're going to say the word banana, $50,000 down and then you say banana and then we make $100,000 just like fat stats.
Mary Beth Barone
Yes, you can insider trade on those websites. That's part of it. That's part of what's legal about it, is that you can, you can't get in trouble for doing that.
Drew
Insane.
Kai (another perspective)
You know that Trump makes all of the ceasefire.
Drew
Wait, who's Trump?
Kai (another perspective)
So chomp is our president.
Drew
Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump, Chomp.
Kai (another perspective)
He like makes a lot of the announcements right outside of the hours of markets trading so that like I guess all 100 people that work directly underneath him can take out specific trades.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, someone made a ton of money on the Venezuela guy getting.
Drew
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
Abducted when he did, like, hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, yeah. Because you can look at, like, the database and it'll be like two minutes before Trump says he's gonna do something catastrophic.
Drew
BARON Trump puts $100 million in someone Bitcoin.
Mary Beth Barone
You guys are having him on the pod this season, right?
Drew
Yes, but we're gonna have to get.
Kai
He's replacing Kai.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, but you're gonna have to raise the ceiling.
Drew
Yeah, we're gonna have to get a taller camera.
Kai (another perspective)
Well, I'm very tall, famously.
Drew
A taller camera.
Mary Beth Barone
We need a taller camera.
Kai
Yeah,
Mary Beth Barone
the camera's too short. He's not in brain.
Kai
Oh, my God. I literally. I just. What greens me out the most about all of the money hoarding specifically is I genuinely think it's not even being done right.
Drew
Like, how would you do it, babe?
Mary Beth Barone
Speak on it.
Drew
How would you hoard your wealth?
Kai
Centuries of wealthy people, like, being upper echelon. Like, maybe go to England. There's hella castles, and it's like, yeah, these people were evil. But you walk into the crib.
Kai (another perspective)
Nice catch.
Drew
Oh, wow.
Lele Pons
What happened?
Mary Beth Barone
What happened? What did it do?
Kai (another perspective)
The camera cut. Which is unfortunate because. Because Drew did the straightest shit ever and immediately saw that the camera cut and then sprang into action.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, it was really cool.
Kai (another perspective)
It was sexy.
Drew
Talk more about that, Mary. Just like me.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah. Did you talk about Drew being sexy?
Mary Beth Barone
Well, I apologize for chewing gum. That's just like, what I wanted to bring to the room right now. But I guess in situations when there is one straight guy in the room and something happens with tech, traditionally you would see that person jump. And in the spirit of continuing this narrative of Kai being inherently feminine, Drew decided that in that moment, he was actually gonna take over.
Kai
Take over that relationship.
Drew
I took control and it was sexy. And I have a Fitbit air.
Mary Beth Barone
And I like your shirt.
Drew
Thank you.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, it's cool.
Drew
Thank you.
Mary Beth Barone
A little half zip situation.
Drew
A zipper collared shirt. Hates to see me coming. I'll just say that.
Mary Beth Barone
No, totally. I'm glad you said it so I didn't have to.
Drew
Right, right, right, right, right.
Kai
I can't remember what I was saying before.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, upper echelon, rich people with castles.
Kai
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
Drew
So that's money hoarding.
Kai
I don't know. In my head again, the Charlie Kirk situation. Ho. They had to go really in depth to poison bitches back in the day when they had money like that. I'd be like, oh, we'd have to do a whole thing. Yeah, we're gonna have to do a Whole thing. Babes. We're gonna have to do a M.A. last ball.
Carrie Brownstein
Yeah.
Kai
And invite you. And you have to be a whole thing chalice.
Mary Beth Barone
Ever heard of it?
Kai
Yeah.

Lele Pons
Hey, what's up, y'?
Drew
All?
Lele Pons
It's your girl, Sam J.
Ari Chambers
And we're the hosts of Everyone Watches Women's Sports, a new podcast from Together. And I heart women's sports because, let's
Lele Pons
be real, women's sports is giving us way too much to talk about these days.
Ari Chambers
So Kelsey Finler, she became the first female solo rower to go from California to Hawaii.
Lele Pons
My first thought is, like, what's up with the snacks? Like, what are we?
Drew
What are we eating?
Ari Chambers

Kai
Literally.
Drew
You know, I learned the reason why we cheers. Do y' all know why we cheers?
Kai
Why wait?
Drew
Give me your cup, Kai. Cheers.
Mary Beth Barone
Mine's empty. It's.
Drew
We can't do it right now. But if someone poisoned Kai's cup, we would cheers and spill. It would spill into mine. And it's like proving that, like, I didn't poison you cuz I'm drinking.
Kai
See what I'm talking about, though? Like, they would have had to been working out the kinks of how to get around that. Cuz Charlie would have been like, oh, hell no. Y' all aren't smashing your cup into mine, like, trying to poison me. But now all they had to do was slay. He has a podcast ho. Let's just take him out To a college. They do that all the time.
Drew
Do you think?
Kai
And what else do they do at colleges? They shoot.
Mary Beth Barone
They shoot.
Kai
Do you think together we got him.
Drew
If any of us was assassinated, that it would be as big as a thing as it was for.
Kai (another perspective)
It would be so much bigger. Worse, right? It would be so much bigger.
Drew
Yeah. It would be like.
Kai (another perspective)
You remember when we were like, oh, shit, this Covid shit is real. And that those first three hours. Yeah, it would be similar to that.
Drew
Okay. Like, world stop, carry on.
Mary Beth Barone
Lockdown, quarantine.
Kai
Yeah, no, but notice how quickly you said, world stop, carry on.
Drew
Oh, actually not carry on. Actually, not carry on.
Kai (another perspective)
Actually, they would care a lot.
Kai
World stop indefinitely on.
Drew
So you live in Mamdani's New York?
Mary Beth Barone
I do.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, yeah.
Drew
I am so jealous.
Mary Beth Barone
I have to say, it's kind of like the best feeling in the world.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. We've really turned a corner. But we had the worst mayor in the world for a while.
Drew
Yeah. Really? Y' all really.
Mary Beth Barone
I mean, we did our. We did. We paid our dues with that. And then we. We finally turned a corner, which has been really beautiful to see.
Drew
Wait, are we talking about, like, legislative? Like judicial?
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, but it's like Congress, Senate. And then there's like, local politics. Mayors, governors. The House boots. The House boots. And then there's like, the presidency at the end of the day.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
And then there's the presidency's crypto. The wallet and their meme coin.
Drew
Yeah. Oh, my God. The fact that there's.
Kai
There's.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
No, you know, there's a czar of crypto. Like, they created this position for this administration. They, like, we're gonna create making shit up.
Yamaneika Saunders
They.
Kai
They gave the.
Mary Beth Barone
They gave Trump the FIFA World Peace Prize for most.
Drew
Most athletic, probably for biggest athlete.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Drew
Her biggest ass work.
Kai
And honestly, wait, why doesn't mom dummy start working with Kalshi? That would be so good for him.
Mary Beth Barone
I think that would be really good for him and that might be happening and we just don'. And so I'll try to find out.
Drew
Yeah, kind of.
Mary Beth Barone
We'll try to find out. I'll put some feelers out.
Kai (another perspective)
Does it feel different in New York? Because to me, I like, know people that live in New York and they feel so excited, and it truly feels like an actual paradigm shift where people care about politics.
Mary Beth Barone
There again, I think there's just a lot of hope now and the fact that he's delivered on so many things he said he was gonna do and so quickly. And then the Knicks one, which Was amazing. And we had a really brutal winter this year. So like. Like any year, even with Eric, under Eric Adams's administration, once it hits like April, May, we're gonna have a total vibe shift in New York because it's like, it's warm. We just suffered for months, and now we actually get to go outside and like, have sex if we want to. And so now it's just like. It's a compounding effect of just like good vibes and energy. And so I would say, yeah, I've lived there for 15 years and it finally feels like, yeah, we have something to live for. Totally.
Kai (another perspective)
It's fascinating seeing a budget be allocated to fixing like, potholes instead of like, prostitutes and stuff.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
Because once you.
Drew
Once you're.
Kai
When the prostitute is in the car, you could put her on your lap and then be like, driving,
Mary Beth Barone
spit my gum out. I can't be visible. I'm sorry. I'm putting it right there. But I love you guys. I'll. I'll clean that. I can't have them see me.
Drew
Yeah, you.
Mary Beth Barone
He's also putting a lot of money into the arts. Like hundreds of millions or something. So it's actually hard to keep up with all the good things he's doing.
Kai
I was going to say cuz even just on a community. Cuz like on top of the neverending issues. Sorry. Me. Lazy as wanting to play with coasters. Yeah.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
I actually.
Kai
People used to get mad as that I would kiss the mic all the time. That used to be a.
Mary Beth Barone
Who's.
Drew
People talk about it.
Kai (another perspective)
Let's wake that up.
Kai
Oh, it's you.
Mary Beth Barone
You the reader.
Kai
Yeah, you the reader. Um. Fuck.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
What was I saying?
Mary Beth Barone
Community.
Kai
Oh. I feel like he's been pouring a lot of money and budgeting into making sure that the communities in New York that usually don't get to benefit off of living in New York, because it is an expensive city. It's tight. Having a family there is difficult. Like most major cities. And I just saw recently that he did this whole thing where for the World Cup, New York locals and residents got to put in a Raffle to get $50 tickets to go to the World Cup.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
And like a bunch of New York locals got to go to the games for $50.
Lele Pons
Well.
Mary Beth Barone
And those are the people that actually keep the city running. So it's like they have the jobs that are essential. Like if the millionaires left, that's just not that gonna be that big of a deal.
Kai
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Which then they all said they were gonna leave, and now they're actually like investing more in the city. But if all the people that like drive the MTA left, we wouldn't have public transit. So it's just like, you need to make sure those people have like a good quality of life or any quality of life.
Kai
I mean, LA, like, is a. Is a perfect example of when you let a city that's full of people that make the city run, you allow those people to live horrendous lives. Like, even in like BO Heights, Like,
Mary Beth Barone
I mean, you fire them out.
Kai
Happen like three weeks ago, the warehouse fire. That's literally. It was first burning ammonia, then it was just like consistently they couldn't get the fire out. So it was going on and off again, smoking. And it was a poultry and seafood warehouse. So right now like, oh, this is
Kai (another perspective)
also a battery wear house and it's
Mary Beth Barone
where do endangered dolphins.
Kai
And Also we had 18 field trips for the kids to come through here. And we're going to. Going. We already paid the deposits on the bus.
Kai (another perspective)
If the fire was in Brentwood, it would have been out in about three seconds. Yeah.
Kai
It would have been covered with a dome. The golden dome Trump was talking about covering the US with. They would have made it for Brentwood.
Drew
And like, see, he's a driver dreamer. He's a dreamer.
Mary Beth Barone
Totally. I mean, you saw he's got a magic. The reflecting pool. That's been such a.
Drew
Well, he's a dreamer because he has
Kai
dementia, so he cannot help but like shift to different realities. We can't keep up with.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Drew
We couldn't begin to get floating on the surface.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. And algae.
Drew
Algae, balloons.
Mary Beth Barone
We forget the algae.
Drew
Wait, what were you doing before comedy, if anything? Or have you always worked?
Mary Beth Barone
I worked at a startup.
Drew
Okay.
Mary Beth Barone
I was just sort of doing that life of like, wow, 2010, girl in the city, had a boyfriend, live with him, getting engaged to that sort of vibe.
Drew
Are we allowed to know what the startup was?
Mary Beth Barone
It's a little startup called Warby Parker.
Drew
Whoa.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. On the ground early there, 50 employees. And then when they went public, I had a bunch of stock options. So I sold them on the day. Cause I'm like, sort of a, like financial genius. And I made a bunch of money that was helpful for me as like a little cushion.
Drew
Okay, cool.
Mary Beth Barone
That was like years later, years later.
Drew
Have you looked at what the stock options would be worth today? Yeah. Is it more or less?
Mary Beth Barone
I sold it at 60 and it's like 4. And that's when you dap up your.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Kai
And that's what you should be bringing up when you're in an odd ratio.
Drew
I love girls.
Kai
One gay guy and four straight guys.
Mary Beth Barone
Straight guys.
Kai
I know stuff like that.
Kai (another perspective)
They're like, we're straight guys that have definitely lost all of their money to Weird.
Lele Pons
Yeah.
Kai
So then they're like, wait, let me listen.
Drew
We need hobby.
Mary Beth Barone
There's a hobby crisis and Lord knows I'm not getting one. I have to work.
Drew
My hobby is scrolling my iPhone and I love it. I love it so much. My screen time has been absolutely insane the last week. But I've also been like violently depressed. So maybe there's.
Mary Beth Barone
Do what you can cope however you need.
Kai
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
As long as you're not hurting anyone. I mean, only yourself.
Drew
Only myself.
Lele Pons
Yeah.
Kai
Drew has record scores of screen time. 17, 18 hours.
Drew
Yeah, I had an 18 hours one day. Like I woke up. I couldn't tell you. I couldn't tell you.
Mary Beth Barone
That's how you know so much about the cake pop.
Drew
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, watch every video.
Drew
I watch every dissertation about it.
Kai
But I guess I. I do have high school.
Drew
I love that you asked, what do you do?
Mary Beth Barone
What did you see?
Drew
That's like a really, really important question. To just be reminded in moments like
Mary Beth Barone
that and the fact that you don't remember a single thing.
Kai
Well, that's what I was going to say. I have a high screen time, but I watch a lot of long form content, whether it be movies or YouTube videos that are super hyper specific or yet. Yeah, the babes. Those are adult films.
Mary Beth Barone
I don't use that word. And in doing so and watching long form, that's actually moral high ground.
Kai
I.
Drew
That's why they're tuning in.
Kai
The moral high ground I watched, there's that gay couple. Or actually I don't know if they're a couple, but there. These two gay guys, they make science videos and they've done it forever.
Drew
Oh, I love them.
Kai
They have a podcast.
Drew
It's I think asap. Science.
Kai
Yes. I love that they have a podcast. And they just did an episode where they were talking about, about we're seeing now there's actual evidence of what certain forms of content do to the human brain. And it's like still good stuff. It's still.
Mary Beth Barone
It's all good.
Kai
Yeah, but. But it was insane. That short form content specifically was the like issue and all these tests. Like, of course they had people who would get an option like, I'm going to butcher this information. Go and watch the goddamn episode. If you actually give a. But I'm just talking to my friends and y' all are just Here. Sorry. But they, like, did this thing where some people got the option they were doing, like, random tasks and they got an hour break. Some people got given a book, some people got given a movie that they had no choice in. Some people got given, like, YouTube free scroll on YouTube. And they found. And then some people got like, tik tok. And they found all the people who did anything, whether it was like YouTube shorts, Instagram reel, or TikToks, had a harder time remembering what the task was they were told before versus the people who were doing anything else, whether it be sitting around reading a book, watching a movie. Like, of course there were differences and all those. But yeah, literally, I'm. I think actually jerking off might be
Mary Beth Barone
that was one of them better.
Kai
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
I give straight guys a lot of crap for forcing me to watch YouTube videos, but if one. One specific strike I never did, I probably would have never met you.
Kai (another perspective)
You that. Oh, yeah, because you saw one of my videos.
Mary Beth Barone
I saw actually all of your videos.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, my God.
Mary Beth Barone
I didn't know that I was forced at gunpoint to watch them all, but I actually then started to enjoy it. I said, you can put the gun down. I'm just going to let it roll.
Drew
I was like, how? Like, y' all collaborated on this episode, Galaxy Brain.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, I met Kai at the overcompensating premiere because I'd been introduced to his content through an ex boyfriend.
Kai (another perspective)
Our interaction. I thought I fumbled our very first interaction because I knew you through your ex. And he showed me your stuff, and I was like, oh, this is a very funny, talented person. I hope I don't fumble the first interaction with them at the premiere. And I thought I was like, okay, there's Mary Beth. I'm going to say something funny to her. So I walked up to her and I pointed at the overcompensating neon sign and I said, what are they going to do with that sign? Can I have the letters P, E, N, I, S?
Drew
That's a banger.
Mary Beth Barone
I know.
Drew
Did it land?
Mary Beth Barone
Well, I seriously went and asked, and she asked.
Kai (another perspective)
And then I was like, oh, my God, I really hope she doesn't think I'm dead serious. And I want a huge neon sign that says penis in my room. Cause I thought that was a really funny joke. But then you asked because you're a very sweet person. And I was like, oh, my God, I'm freaking out.
Mary Beth Barone
But we couldn't get the signage, unfortunately. But then that weekend we went to Jumbo's Clown Room, so things sort of progressed from there.
Yamaneika Saunders
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
We had a very fun time at Jumbo's, which.
Kai
Sweet.
Mary Beth Barone
But then when we. When we were thinking about who we wanted to direct the special, I knew you directed your sketches and stuff, and I was just like, I feel like, again, he just has the right type of mental illness for this job.
Drew
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
And that I wanted people involved, that we all. Because I feel this way about the special. Like, I have something to prove. So I wanted people who felt like this is like a high stakes situation and to, like, put in a lot of effort. And then Kai totally did. And what people don't know about that night of the overcompensating premiere is that I was extremely anorexic, drinking margaritas, went home, fainted in the bathroom, got a full concussion. Had to do Jake Shane's podcast the next day in full glam. I'll have you know.
Kai
Wow.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. So it was crazy.
Drew
What time in the morning.
Lele Pons
Oh, gosh.
Kai (another perspective)
Or was it.
Mary Beth Barone
It wasn't like 8am but it was like, it was pre noon, I'm pretty sure.
Yamaneika Saunders
Damn.
Mary Beth Barone
And so we had to do glam. My stylist got me an iv. It was like that type of deal.
Drew
Oh, my God.
Mary Beth Barone
But, yeah, I hit my head really
Kai
hard in the bathroom last Halloween. I blacked out and also hit my head. Really?
Mary Beth Barone
And I was there that night. I saw you. Oh, my. We don't even talk about that night. We really should, because the person that I actually brought out that night has yet to give me my clothes back.
Drew
Wow.
Mary Beth Barone
And I'm this close to naming him because I'm getting so pissed off. He will not text me back.
Drew
I was thinking about that this morning, and I was like, I don't think we talk about Bruno. Like, I don't think we.
Kai
We don't talk about Bruno.
Kai (another perspective)
We don't.
Mary Beth Barone
We don't talk about him by name yet. But I'm getting. I. I'm going to show you guys the text I sent him in December where I was just like, I don't want to hang out with you. I just want my clothes back. That he has never responded to.
Kai (another perspective)
That's.
Mary Beth Barone
But it was way nicer than that. And I was just like, I hope you're well. I'm thinking of you. I just want my clothes back. We don't need to hang out. We're square. Then we saw him at all time. I had just described the situation to Veronica, and we're leaving all time and he's in the line and he. I see him. It was actually hell for me. But he's like, hey. He hugs me. He's like, I didn't know you were in la. And I was like, well, you don't respond to my text.
Drew
Wake that up.
Mary Beth Barone
And then he goes, don't do that.
Kai (another perspective)
And everyone in the line, like, looks and saw him get cooked. It was so sick.
Kai
That is amazing.
Mary Beth Barone
It was a triumph. That is honestly amazing in a world where there's not a lot of triumphs.
Drew
Like, that was a big one.
Mary Beth Barone
But I'm like, just give me my clothes back. You know what I mean? And by the way, he has my clothes. Because we were at Joy Face one night and these girls came up to flirt with him and they had a rescue dog who pissed sat in his piss and then jumped in the guy's lap. So when we went back to my house, he was like, can I shower and borrow clothes? So I said, sure. So then he just wore them home. And now I've never seen them them since.
Drew
And I'm sure they were nice clothes.
Mary Beth Barone
I mean, it was like, you know, stuff that I want back.
Drew
Yeah, of course.
Mary Beth Barone
It was the only stuff I had that could fit. Like a guy of that stature, he
Drew
wasn't need that to give to the next.
Mary Beth Barone
The next guy of that stature also
Kai
just like, oh, have an assistant do it. Like, why. Why are you making this?
Mary Beth Barone
I'm about to go to the agency. I'm like, I'll have my agency.
Kai
That is amazing. Oh, my gosh. I'm on the opposite or not opposite end of that. In which I. Oh, God.
Mary Beth Barone
Why?
Kai
I have someone's belongings who I've been trying to get back. And it's a lot of stuff.
Mary Beth Barone
Can you ship?
Kai
But the person refuses to not just like, let me send it to them because they have some of my stuff too. And it's this stalemate of like, why can't we be chill? Like, let me just come to your house. And I'm like, no, no, no, no. I just. I. I want. I. I don't. I don't even want my stuff. I want you to have your stuff. And I just want someone.
Mary Beth Barone
You should just take it to you.
Kai (another perspective)
You should just put it in a Coco Ro.
Mary Beth Barone
Served. Served it like a subpoena or whatever.
Kai
Like the. I'm about to wait, let's just do it right now.
Drew
I'm down. I'm literally down.
Mary Beth Barone
He has no idea who I am or she or whoever or they even. Or it. I don't know.
Drew
I don't know what your vibe is,
Mary Beth Barone
but I could just knock and be like, here's your stuff. Bye.
Drew
Oh, that would be so.
Mary Beth Barone
That could be cool.
Drew
Wait, Halloween was fun. Was that the first night we met? I remember that was the first night.
Mary Beth Barone
And I went to Kai's place and it was like a really fun night out.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
We went to the one fun part party like that I've sort of been to in la, I would say, in my many years of coming here.
Drew
Yeah, that was. That was a fun.
Mary Beth Barone
There's a lot of gay guys.
Drew
I feel like it was all gay guys. It's literally gay guy.
Kai
Well, that's also in LA for the most part. That's the most fun I think you can have.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. An abandoned house that's sort of like reimagined as a party.
Drew
Yeah, like.
Kai
Like I said, the. The imagination of gay men goes beyond my. I would have known. Never, ever seen that home and been like, this can be a beautiful place. I would have seen that home and been like, blow it up.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, no, they said, we got a cigar room, we got a dance floor. We'll do a back house with a bar. We'll have LED lights, really big speakers too. So good job with that.
Apple Mac Advertiser
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
My friends are always like, why are you at gay bars all the time with Drew? Like, what is actually going on? And I'm like, dude, have you been to an organized straight event? Because if you have, then you. Then you know why I'm not playing.
Kai
All straight events feel like all hell. Plankton. But Plankton isn't there. And like, Plankton doesn't necessarily exist. And Plankton is.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, he doesn't with y'.
Kai (another perspective)
All.
Kai
It's like fig. It's like this. There's this figment of imagination that like Drake or Kylie Jenner is like ever like the ever seeing eye. And like, like, Kid Cuddy is going to walk in the room. Or like, I don't know, Timothy Chalame,
Drew
Justin Bieber might come.
Kai
It's like some weird thing here. Like, I. I don't know if that's it as much as also like the straight men in general have become. It's like. It's like when you catch a little kid, like drawing all over the walls and you're like, no, crayons are not for that. And then it's like, well, I'm never gonna draw again. That's what's happened to men of like, okay, listen, like, you cannot rape. You should not do that. And it's like, no, I'm never gonna talk to a girl again. Everything is rape. So, like, there's that. There's like so many layers.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, you took away their favorite thing that they had.
Kai
It was all they had to come together about.
Kai (another perspective)
Mind you, they put all their eggs.
Mary Beth Barone
But it was also unspoken because they didn't talk about it, but they just knew it. Like, they could see it in each other and that was what made life fun for them. I mean, Julia Fox had this one quote where she was like, I actually love having sex with guys, but they're just like, not anymore. She's like, I'm not meeting guys who are. And then I just feel like guys don't really like sex that much.
Drew
I don't know.
Mary Beth Barone
It's kind of weird.
Kai
Yeah, well, they like it because again, it's like, it's like, well, I'm supposed to wash my hands after I pee, especially if someone's around. Like, it's like, well, I'm supposed to like girls and want to them all the time. So if I guess I got to do it, I got to do it.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, but some of them aren't even doing it and it's like, what? So what is your purpose? What is your purpose?
Kai
Well, they want to be the girls. They want to be the girls.
Drew
Straight guys want to be the girls.
Kai
Girl. Like, come on. No, like, they want to be mama inside and then papa outside. I'm like, no, no, no, no.
Drew
Kai, do you want to be the girl?
Kai
Jump around.
Kai (another perspective)
No, I want to be the man. I want to be the man. I'm just going to say it. I'm going to be brave and say it.
Mary Beth Barone
I love that.
Kai
I'm not a prude or conservative by any means, but I do have.
Drew
Sex is a hobby.
Kai
Like, yeah, I think sex as a hobby is a bit ludicrous. Like that being the hobby at hand is like, okay again, unless sex positive though. Unless you're creative with it. Like, I don't know.
Mary Beth Barone
That's where I'm like doing some cigar type.
Kai
Yeah, it's like, it's like a callback. Like if you've carved your own lane, period. Like, I think we should.
Mary Beth Barone
I think we should kink shame. That's one of my more conservative beliefs. I'm like, why did we just decide that everything's chill? I don't think it's all chill.
Drew
A lot of it's bad, actually.
Kai (another perspective)
We should be able to make fun of people that want to jackal with poop.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. I'm like, at least, by the way, do whatever you want. But like, you can then talk about it and laugh. Yeah, I don't think you don't I don't think you should not do it, but I think I should be allowed to laugh.
Kai (another perspective)
We have to be able to make fun of the guy who wants to lie underneath the glass table and have people on it.
Chelsea Handler
Yeah.
Kai
Also, if you're gonna make that everyone's business. Like it comes with the territory. Like if you are gonna let me know your kink, I'm gonna have comments. I'm gonna have comments and criticism.
Mary Beth Barone
And that's why people don't like opinionated women, because they just want to have their kinks and not get any pushback.
Kai (another perspective)
But I have a kink, actually.
Mary Beth Barone
What is it?
Kai (another perspective)
I just love missionary so you can
Drew
still argue while you'll have sex.
Kai (another perspective)
Yelling at each other we met beautiful. We met this legendary gay guy who was like, I love missionaries so we can keep yelling at each other.
Drew
And he wears a cowboy hat everywhere. He's literally. I'm actually really sad that I'll never get to interact with him again.

Drew
But he was. He's like. Through an ax. Yeah, yeah, sorry. Tragic. Tragic.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah, he said that. And then he got on this motorcycle with his cowboy hat and, like, drove away.
Drew
And I was like, that's to a house that he. He doesn't actually own. He's kind of like squatting and he's so sick.
Mary Beth Barone
Sounds like we have a lot to learn from him.
Drew
Yeah, we really. We really, really, really, really do. Wait, what? What's the hardest drug you've ever done?
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, I've done, like, LSD and stuff, and. But one night I accidentally did meth.
Drew
Yes, I am, of course.
Mary Beth Barone
Which. Cause it was in the mdma.
Drew
Did it feel like your teeth were falling out?
Mary Beth Barone
No. It was actually the best night I've ever had. It's just the next day, I didn't. We didn't sleep the whole day. So, like, some worry and concern started setting in. Cause we hadn't slept yet. And then we were just kind of freaking out because we didn't know what was going on. And then I was supposed to open for my friend George Severis, and I had to sort of call him in shame and say, I accidentally did meth last night. And I thought I was past this point in my life, but it turns out I'm not of doing drugs like this. That affects work. This was two weeks ago. Yeah, this was in June. And so then I was just, like, really ashamed. And we didn't sleep until like 7 8pm the next day. Wow, that was really, really tough.
Drew
But did you get good sleep?
Mary Beth Barone
We then slept for a long time, for sure. But it was such a fun night. I was just like, why do I feel so good?
Drew
Why do I feel like the greatest person alive?
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. Like, I could do anything. We went to $3 bill. We were dancing all night. I was doing cartwheels. Like, we were up.
Kai
You haven't done a cartwheel since you were nine?
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, no. And I was really happy to be doing them again. But then, yeah, it was the. It was the meth.
Drew
It was meth. I'm going to New York, honestly.
Kai
Awesome.
Drew
Tomorrow.
Mary Beth Barone
Don't do it, though.
Kai
Oh, hell.
Mary Beth Barone
For how long, bro?
Kai
I think if I did meth, I would kill someone. Like, I think that's just, like, my kind path. And I would.
Drew
You can't. You can't dabble.
Mary Beth Barone
It's a no for me.
Drew
You literally can't dabble. I'm going for, like, a few days and then I'm coming back. But I was literally saying, I want
Mary Beth Barone
to go back for Come to Galaxy Brain Doll.
Drew
It's gonna be so fun.
Mary Beth Barone
It's genuinely. Because. Okay. The venue's kind of like, they're funny because it's like they're independently owned. I think because there's one woman that Runs the place. And we thought we were gonna sell 600 tickets. And then we did like a ticket check in and they had sold 796. So I was like, oh. And then they're like, actually, our capacity is 11, so it's truly gonna just be like a huge dance party.
Drew
Wait, I just got chills.
Mary Beth Barone
I'm so excited. Kai was supposed to dj. He's unfortunately not able to. He has other artistic pursuits.
Drew
I can plug in.
Mary Beth Barone
You can plug in. You can do a little. I see your deck right there.
Drew
Oh, yeah. This is my little spinner.
Mary Beth Barone
But it's gonna be so fun. And I just think, like, yeah, I wanted to just have fun with the people.
Drew
I haven't seen all of it yet. Kai, like, showed me a little bit. A little sneaky peek.
Mary Beth Barone
Interesting. You're leaking it to the press.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
No. You like it? It is really for, like, the people in this room that were the people.
Drew
I'm so excited. And they're gonna fucking love it.
Mary Beth Barone
And them as well. And Kai is in it, which is cool. I don't know if you've seen the cold open, but have you seen it?
Kai (another perspective)
I don't think so.
Drew
I think I have.
Kai (another perspective)
I'll send it to you.
Mary Beth Barone
I tried to cut it and I. I vetoed that, period.
Kai (another perspective)
I was like, this is your special. I want this to be about you. And I am biased because I'm in it.
Drew
And so I was like, bi ish.
Kai (another perspective)
No, I'm Jewish, actually, but. But you wanted to keep it in and that made me feel really good. So I was like, okay.
Kai
I'm so excited. Like, two days ago, I freaked out to Drew and I was like, oh, my God, did that come out already? And I literally was like, oh, my God. Oh my God, did that come out already? And I don't know why. In my head.
Mary Beth Barone
No. People have a really hard time with
Kai
release dates, you know, I literally. In my head, for some reason, it came out like the first week of July and then two days. Like, it was a few days ago. I literally wanted to.
Drew
She had like a panic.
Kai
I was like, dude, I feel like such a piece of shit. Cuz one, I haven't seen it and two, I have not said anything. And I was like, like, is it out? Like, how have I not seen anything about it? He was like, shut up.
Mary Beth Barone
You got a couple weeks to put that in the camera.
Kai
Yeah.
Drew
What's the day?
Mary Beth Barone
July 28th.
Kai (another perspective)
July 28th.
Drew
How do you feel?
Mary Beth Barone
I feel ready for it to be out and just like, see what people are angry about. And just, like, let that wash over me. But also just celebrate because it's like a huge milestone and I. I think it's. I'm really proud of it. So I think that feels good. There's obviously things I would change, you know, but you only have the footage that you have. We did not want to use any generative AI for the special, so.
Kai (another perspective)
That's bullshit. Only 20% of it is.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, except for the whole material.
Chelsea Handler
Okay.
Drew
I was about to say earlier, we were talking about visual.
Kai
No visual.
Mary Beth Barone
Visually, I wanted it to be pure, but as far as. Yeah, the material is completely written by.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah, there's a lot of dashes in the jokes.
Kai
Yeah, yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
Where she pauses for an awkward amount of time.
Drew
I got chills when I found out. Got a special Netflix. I literally got chilled out.
Kai
Full body special.
Drew
It was really major for me.
Mary Beth Barone
So I feel like it's. Well, because I found out in, I guess, August of last year when I was on vacation, which felt really good. Unfortunately, then I was stalked by a suicidal hotel guest the last night on my vacation. But that's for when I come back to emergency intercom. But it was exciting and it felt so far away to, like. Because we knew we were gonna tape it in early 2026. And then it's like you have to edit it and do all the post. And so it does feel like. It's like. It's like I'm preg with a Netflix special and I'm ready for my due date.
Drew
It felt like it came together pretty quick, though. Like. And, like, it. It felt very. I mean, I'm sure it wasn't seamless, but it felt like it was kind of seamless, like it was natural.
Mary Beth Barone
Kai actually has now witnessed me in psychosis, which is something that not everyone gets to see, because in the edit, it was truly like I lost my grip of reality.
Kai (another perspective)
A few times we watched this hour of. I mean, you've performed it, obviously, so many times.
Mary Beth Barone
A lot of times.
Kai (another perspective)
But we watched it. I think I've seen it 12 times. Like, 12 hours.
Mary Beth Barone
It was so many times. And then also, because I'm just like, I'm meticul. So, like, our producers were like, oh, sometimes, like, comedians don't listen to the sound mix or, like, you don't have to watch this cut of it. But I was just so nervous of seeing it on Netflix and being like, oh, my God, we didn't catch that. So I wanted to watch it one million times. Yeah, it was worth it.
Kai (another perspective)
I also feel like I've been Pregnant with a baby, too. And I feel like I kind of just totally understand what it's like to be pregnant.
Yamaneika Saunders
Yeah.
Kai
You're doing something that, like, a lot of men next to pregnant women tend to do where it's like, we're pregnant.
Kai (another perspective)
We're pregnant.
Kai
No, Mary is pregnant, so she's pregnant.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, but it was. It was very clapping and I think, like, for what we needed the director to do, which actually the scope of work was way beyond what a traditional director would do. I think Kai was the only person that could do it. And also we created a cinematic universe with these sketches that were really fun and Kai had to edit all of them. So.
Kai
Yeah, I am so excited to see it. Like, you were just so tapped into it, like, the whole time.
Kai (another perspective)
And it was really nice, too, because you gave me so much room to do that stuff. Stuff. Which was very sweet of you.
Mary Beth Barone
I mean, you gained a lot of weight.
Kai (another perspective)
I did gain a lot of weight for the role, for the. For the special.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, I said, you can't be skinnier than me in the cold open, so come correct.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah. And that was very hard for me to do because, like, I just don't keep weight on. It's like, really hard for me to gain weight. But whatever.
Drew
That's literally me, though.
Kai (another perspective)
It actually isn't as It's. That's gonna piss me off. So we can't talk about it.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
But, yeah.
Drew
Sore subject.
Kai (another perspective)
July 28th. You're gonna squirt from laughing.
Mary Beth Barone
I think you're gonna squirt, like, And. And we. I talk about squirting in it, so. Oh, my gosh.
Kai
So an energy. So if you're lucky, it'll. It'll sink. It'll be like a period sinking situation.
Mary Beth Barone
Totally. But if you jerk off to it, I think you should Venmo me. $5.
Drew
Okay.
Mary Beth Barone
Only if you come, though. If you just try drinking off and you don't come and you don't have to pay me, but I think five bucks is fair.
Kai
Yeah.
Drew
Yeah, that is very fair.
Kai
I would say even if they don't come, they should at least send you. It should be kind of like a bank camp situation of like, whatever you think I deserve. Like, whether it be 50, 50 cents,
Mary Beth Barone
karma on Reddit, whatever.
Kai
Yeah, yeah.
Drew
Happy cake day.
Mary Beth Barone
I don't use Reddit anymore. I had to. I had to stop going on it. It wasn't good for me and my health.
Kai
Yeah, it's really bad over there. I don't. I don't go.
Mary Beth Barone
It's not a safe space.
Kai (another perspective)
For us, there was a subreddit for anyone that basically just speculated on her boob size.
Kai
Yeah. The weirdest part was how all of them could have been brassier makers, because I was like, you guys. You guys are actually really spot on.
Mary Beth Barone
They're experts in the field.
Kai
Just talking about this the other day, I was like. The weirdest part about that was, I think, one. It's always weird to have something just centered around, like, being objectified in that way. Like, there's. I don't know, whatever. But there was this one photo of a me in a shirt that was, like, I wasn't wearing a bra in it, and you couldn't see through the shirt at all. But somebody had found a woman whose boobs were, like, essentially identical to mine, and they, like, overlaid it. And this. Like, this is pre AI. So I was like, dude, damn.
Drew
Perverts.
Kai
Seriously have the time and they will dedicate it to this. And they did this weird layer thing of, like, guessing my boobs and what they look like without a shirt, and they guessed. So. Right.
Mary Beth Barone
Spot on.
Drew
Have you ever had a conversation?
Mary Beth Barone
Not. Not that I'm aware of, but I'll make. I hope I have.
Drew
We'll make. We'll make that happen.
Kai (another perspective)
We're gonna do that for you. We're gonna do.
Mary Beth Barone
That's on the punch list.
Drew
What's your sign?
Mary Beth Barone
I am a Gemini.
Kai
Where?
Mary Beth Barone
Kai and I. Your birthday is May 27th. Mine's May 28th.
Kai
Day after 2 Geminis before me.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
Isn't Josie a Gemini?
Drew
No.
Kai
Oh.
Mary Beth Barone
What are you guys?
Kai
I'm an Aquarius.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay.
Drew
Pisces.
Lele Pons
Okay.
Mary Beth Barone
A lot of gay men are Pisces. A lot of Pisces are gay men.
Drew
It's crazy. Literally every other gay man that I met over the last year of actually becoming gay is named Drew and is also a Pisces.
Mary Beth Barone
Crazy and Aquarius. I don't actually know that much about it, but I feel like you have a similar sort of energy to one of my sisters who's also an Aquarius. So it's like, I could see it. There's a thread.
Kai
I have, like, a lot of Aquarius women in my life, and they all are so annoying. And I'm like, here we go. Here we go.
Drew
Maximizing y' all's annoying.
Kai
Like, I have, like, especially in New York, a lot of my friends out there are girls who are Aquariuses, and I'm like, damn, we're all together.
Mary Beth Barone
Have fun.
Kai
Yeah. I have the best time in my goddamn life. But not in, like, maybe the healthiest way. Cuz it's. It's literally a room full of being like. Exactly.
Mary Beth Barone
No, but that's like all I want.
Drew
That's healthy.
Kai
I know JT has a very prolific. First of all, JT in general is very prolific with her verbiage and she creates some of the greatest quotes of all time. But one of the them was her talking about on her tik tok how she does not condone unbiased opinions. And she was like, my Tik Tok page is for bias. She was like, if you are following me, I only want you to comment love and nice and sweet things do not come here and like be unbiased with me. I want to hear like a mirror. And that's what the comments are for. And if otherwise I'm going to block you.
Kai (another perspective)
I want that too. Whenever I look at comments on anything I make, I'm like, let. I think this should only just be nice stuff.
Mary Beth Barone
Your comments are so funny because we did a collab, a collaborative post this week and your comments are just. And I just spit. Are like people just kind of like being mean to you?
Kai (another perspective)
I know, it's awesome. Some of them are really funny too.
Drew
Yeah, it's.
Mary Beth Barone
They're really funny. I was. I was laughing.
Kai (another perspective)
But then some will be like every once in a while you get one that's not even funny. It's just mean. But you can tell they're trying to be funny. I forget what it was like.
Drew
They do that in real life too.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. That's nagging.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
I was nagged so aggressively on Friday in a way that I hadn't experienced in a really long time.
Drew
Really?
Kai (another perspective)
From like a fan or somebody else?
Mary Beth Barone
From a fellow industry taste maker.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, wow. Can you go into depth on that?
Mary Beth Barone
Well, I'll talk about it offline because I think saying who it is is going to make the story even better.
Drew
Oh, wow. I'm excited. I'm excited.
Kai (another perspective)
When we were in New York one time, we were standing on a sidewalk and from behind me someone just said, what's up, you stinky ugly? And then I turned around and it was this girl who was like, I'm sorry, I don't know, like drew and you do it on the show. And I just thought that. And I don't know, I just thought that would be cool. And I was like, okay. Actually it's pretty funny.
Drew
But the immediate apology back down is good. Where should I go? Out in New York?
Mary Beth Barone
I mean, anywhere. It's all just good times.
Drew
I'm gonna go to basement I can
Mary Beth Barone
send you a list. Basement. I mean, I have. I have the gay. My. There's a throuple I have a joke about in my special. They're actually my best friends and they. They know all the spots. I should actually just, like, connect you with them in a group chat because they'll take you to fun places.
Drew
Is one of their names Jake?
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, no, different Jake. This is a Jake who was my first boyfriend in high school.
Drew
And you turned him out?
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, and I turned him out. I was the last one. No, he actually had several others before he came out. But I did. I did pull him out of the closet in the yearbook room.
Drew
Wait, that's sick. Good for you.
Mary Beth Barone
So then he's gay. Cause of me, which is really cool. But he has a husband and a boyfriend and they live in my building and they know everything that gay people are doing.
Drew
Yeah, I need. I need to be plugged in.
Mary Beth Barone
You'll be plugged in.
Drew
I'm going.
Kai (another perspective)
Was so funny in the sketches.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, my God. So Jake is also a producer on the special.
Drew
Oh.
Mary Beth Barone
He knows inside of my brain really well, so we collaborate very well together. And he is in. He's in the sketch.
Kai (another perspective)
There's some reaction shots that are like, genuinely some of the best parts.
Mary Beth Barone
And it's his acting debut. Wait, where are you from?
Kai
I'm from Miami.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay. Whoa. That's crazy. You just don't hear that every day.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
That's a rare earning race. That's a rarity.
Kai
I know. I do have a lot of friends here from Florida and Miami, like, randomly. But it is rare for people also to just leave Miami because it's kind of like a sticky trap. Like, it's just the humidity, like, weighs you down kind of outside.
Drew
Today was giving Miami a little bit Miami. Shocking.
Mary Beth Barone
Tough.
Ari Chambers
What?
Drew
Well, no, it's, like, hot and the air is moist. Muggy.
Kai
It was more moist now the sun's out. The.
Kai (another perspective)
Yes.
Drew
Yeah, it was, like, kind of raining a little bit when I was taking out the trash.
Kai
Well, it's because they're. What is it called? The seed when they, like, plant rain.
Drew
Oh, cloud seeding.
Kai
Yeah, they're cloud seating.
Raiders of the Lost Podcast Host
Oh.
Kai (another perspective)
Also, if you're wondering why we're doing your episode in this room, they wanted to wine and dine us and feed us a bunch of food.
Kai
You're very upper echelon. So we needed to do it in an upper echelon.
Kai (another perspective)
But then I said, we're not going to be eating any of that food.
Mary Beth Barone
No, we put the food in the garbage. I Did see an edit on Tik Tok of you sitting on Drew's lap. And then he was like, that's how we're going to do guests now. And he was like, mary Beth Barone, this could be you.
Drew
Oh, wow.
Mary Beth Barone
Then. And then. But then I wasn't given the opportunity.
Drew
Shall we get a picture?
Lele Pons
Yeah.
Drew
Shall we get a picture to put in? Well, please, please, please, please.
Kai
Yeah, I think he just, like, wants someone on the laugh.
Kai (another perspective)
You're being so creepy.
Drew
Please sit in my lap.
Carrie Brownstein
What?
Kai
So freaky.
Mary Beth Barone
We'll do it. We'll do it. As long as that's cool.
Apple Mac Advertiser
It's.
Mary Beth Barone
Then.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai
Yeah. No, I would love to. If I can watch. Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay.
Kai
If I'm allowed to be there.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
And that's where the episode cuts out.
Drew
Yeah. This is the end.
Kai
But do you have any media you've been enjoying other than Galaxy Brain?
Mary Beth Barone
I feel like I've been watching a lot of movies. I've actually been revisiting movies that came out like five to six years ago that I thought were bad at the time, but I didn't know how bad movies. Movies would get. So now they actually are kind of good.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
And I'm like, I fuck with this. Actually, as far as television shows, I was. I was just thinking about this because I was like, I need to have some shows that I've watched recently to talk about just in life, especially if you, like, do meetings in la, people want to know, like, what you've been watching. Could not name a single thing right now.
Kai
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Isn't that crazy?
Kai
Yeah, I know. That does. I guess the only thing I could name other than random movies is Love Island. That's the show.
Drew
Been watching Silo.
Kai
Oh.
Mary Beth Barone
I started Widow's Bay today.
Drew
Oh, cool. How is one?
Mary Beth Barone
It's really good.
Kai (another perspective)
It's really, really, really funny and well
Mary Beth Barone
acted, I would say, but I haven't. I'm just scratching.
Kai (another perspective)
It feels like a TV show from, like, before everything got really bad.
Drew
Oh, good.
Kai (another perspective)
You know, it's really cool.
Kai
Oh, I guess I have been watching TV shows, but I've been watching cartoons. I've been. I watched all of the new regular show and then I've been watching the new amazing gumball series.
Mary Beth Barone
Where is that available?
Lele Pons
Hulu.
Mary Beth Barone
Okay, cool.
Apple Mac Advertiser
Hulu.
Kai
Hulu says hi.
Drew
We bleep it. We believe Hulu.
Mary Beth Barone
We believe Hulu. I watched All's Fair on Disney, which is that Ryan Murphy show about the law firm, which originally I seen a lot of memes about. And it was like, oh, it's so bad. But I actually, like, came to sort of love the women.
Drew
That's what Josiah said. Josiah was like, everyone was laughing at it, but he actually loves that show.
Mary Beth Barone
There's a few episodes that totally went off the rails, but I think generally it's a show about female friendship and about, like, women's stories in that they matter.
Drew
And that's a beautiful.
Mary Beth Barone
I would never watch something.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah, no.
Drew
This is the worst nightmare.
Kai
Well, because it would give him a migraine.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
And again, what are migraines inherently feminine.
Carrie Brownstein
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
They're bad for the baby, and they're
Mary Beth Barone
bad for the baby.
Drew
Bad for us. Baby.
Kai (another perspective)
You know what? I want to start just before we leave. Like, I guess this is my media. This is what I want to listen to. I want to start, like, when I see pregnant women, I want to. I want to start asking if I can put my ear out to the belly. Men don't do that anymore. And I think that's pretty much.
Carrie Brownstein
Did they.
Mary Beth Barone
When did they do that?
Kai (another perspective)
I feel like that was a thing.
Kai
I feel like there was an era where it was like, men. Men had to learn that they're not allowed to touch.
Kai (another perspective)
Yeah.
Kai
Stomach and, like, be like, oh, it's
Drew
a little guy in there.
Mary Beth Barone
And we live in big cities, so we feel like that's changed. But I am sure that in most places, men will just go up and touch.
Drew
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kai
My actual Kai changes it, which he will do.
Kai (another perspective)
I will, allegedly. My actual media. Olivia is the new Frost Children ep.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
I've been listening to it. I've listened to it over a hundred times, and it's only been out for two days.
Drew
I was gonna say Faster by Frost Children.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, yes.
Drew
That song you sent me.
Mary Beth Barone
I didn't know we could talk about music. Oh, yeah. For me, it's Olivia Rodrigo's down.
Kai
I just finally listened to it. I'm like, God damn this girl.
Mary Beth Barone
It's so good. There's no skips. Very rare for me on an album. No skips, but there's none.
Drew
What's your favorite album? Do you have one? It's a really hard question. Just be asked.
Mary Beth Barone
Favorite album ever? Oh. I mean, I don't know. It's hard. I feel like it depends, like, what phase I'm at in my life. Anti by Rihanna was huge for me.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
And then, unfortunately, the Graduation by Kanye west was a big one, but we can't really talk about that stuff anymore.
Drew
We're not talking about that.
Mary Beth Barone
I think SZA's first album. And then I was a huge Katy Perry fan. So Teenage Dream was pretty big.
Kai (another perspective)
That's incredible.
Mary Beth Barone
It's just like hits after hits and. Yeah, that was like that. That came out when I, like, had a driver's license and could play whatever I wanted.
Drew
So I think that's like one of the first times I realized that I was gay without realizing I was gay. Was my babysitter at the time was like, why are you watching Teenage Dream music videos or listening to Teenage Dream and watching the music videos on the tv? And I was like, actually, I don't know why, but looking back, because I
Kai
was getting such a great question
Mary Beth Barone
for you.
Drew
Yeah, it was. It was really major. And that, like, album cover with her.
Kai (another perspective)
I know all the music videos, too, were so well done.
Kai
Well, that's when, like, music videos were the one vehicle to promote music other than radio. And like, I was even just. I've been listening to an illegal upload that is publicly on Apple Music. And first of all, I can't lie, there was a part of me that was like, just as a music lover in general, how beautiful it is that I don't have to go and download things anymore. Like, people can just illegally post people's music without their permission.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, I didn't know that.
Kai
Yeah, but it'll be under random names. Like, but the song I've been listening to that made me think this is a little baby song that he did for Pharrell's show that they played on it and somebody literally just took it and re uploaded it onto Apple Music and it's not supposed to be there. Fuck. What was I saying that? I don't know why I was saying that. Oh, I'm so sorry.
Mary Beth Barone
Did it help you realize you were gay or anything?
Kai
Yeah, maybe.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, you were saying music videos are the only. Were the only way to.
Kai
Oh, yeah, but now music, like, nobody cares about music videos anymore as much as they do care about if, like, there's a certain section of a song
Mary Beth Barone
that, like, just could just, like, be an ear worm. Well, what I've noticed is that all music videos are movies now and all movies are music videos. Yeah, you need like a narrative to propel music video now. And I guess with movies you just need cool shots.
Drew
Yeah, pretty.
Kai
You need cool shots because the movie will only be seen if those cool shots are then edited by some hyper
Drew
specific teenager who loves in Ukraine and has to. The movie has to be filmed horizontally, obviously, but every frame has to look good vertically, vertical.
Mary Beth Barone
And I just want to say to the teens in Ukraine and I maybe said the Ukraine before but it's actually just Ukraine.
Drew
Drop the. The.
Mary Beth Barone
The. Drop the.
Lele Pons
The.
Mary Beth Barone
It's cleaner. I, I love them. I owe them the world. I think the fan edits they're doing are inspiring in their art and I don't know how they're getting high res clips of every show and movie but like keep doing what you're doing it.
Kai
I don't. We always say I'm like these are the next generation of editors for movies. Like somebody who's smart like will go
Drew
and some of the shit that they are doing is unbelievable. Mind you on cap cut on their iPhone.
Mary Beth Barone
No, I'm not kidding.
Drew
Yeah. Just.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
Fan editors specifically want to Die Hard for a specific actor slash actress. Don't let them get to a discog page of all that. Of all that they can make a new movie with all of the. There are so many edits that have gotten me to watch movies. Edits are what made me watch Sex in the City cuz I hadn't seen it before that. And then I think I saw a really good edit of Car.
Mary Beth Barone
Was it set to David by Lord? Cuz that was an edit that really sticks out.
Kai
But that is I, I had such a good series by the time that came along. But I, I don't remember. It might have been like a Miranda one that was like really funny and I was like oh, I didn't. No one told me they were funny.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah, they do.
Lele Pons
They do make jokes.
Mary Beth Barone
They're like. They like puns and being funny.
Kai
Yeah. To me Sex in the City is like a girl's version of the Sopranos is like you. What you don't realize is it's a comedy.
Mary Beth Barone
Right.
Kai
Like to me the Sopranos is a comedy that one of the funniest shows ever. Like the way they wrote dialogue between family members is the best and realist depiction.
Mary Beth Barone
Also Meadow did meth one time.
Kai
Really?
Mary Beth Barone
For her choir thing. Right. I've only seen three episodes in the show.
Kai
I thought you were saying in person. I was like wait, I thought you
Drew
were saying that too. I was like holy.
Kai
Because I just saw a video of her recently and she looks really good. And I was gonna be like, well maybe someone. Cuz you look really good. So maybe the meth is like all part of it.
Mary Beth Barone
Because someone once replied to a tweet of Min saying oh, it's look, it's Skeletor Meadow Soprano again. And I really like. I, I really clung on to that identity.
Kai
That's cool. They did a bit of a 13.
Drew
They did do a bit of a
Kai
13 run with her college era. Like, she went off to college and she was like,
Mary Beth Barone
I didn't get to that part.
Kai
No. That show is so awesome, dude. I. I think maybe I love that show so much because of the dynamic the little brother has. The dynamic of the relationship of the interpersonal relapsions of everybody is really good. But yeah, I like that they wrote the brother just be a dunce who they constantly just picked at. Like, that is so awesome.
Mary Beth Barone
That's sort of like Kai in the pod, right?
Drew
Yeah, but he's hot, though.
Kai (another perspective)
Oh, my God. Do you think that actually, Kai, I
Drew
was looking at you on the couch today and I literally said I was.
Mary Beth Barone
I posted a hot picture of him because I am an ally at the end of the day. And I got so many replies.
Carrie Brownstein
Good.
Mary Beth Barone
He looked even from straight guys like Zach, for example. And so that's what I'm doing, like, to help you.
Kai (another perspective)
Thank you. Yeah. I actually really do appreciate that. And if you could do that every single day at 9am when you get the most engagement, because the story's up the longest.
Drew
Thursday, specifically.
Mary Beth Barone
I'll do my best. Just start looking good all the time. And then how many people are going
Kai
to have to tell you you look good till you believe it? Like, is it just going to be like you're the well that never. But no, it's like you're a bottomless pit.
Kai (another perspective)
I am. I have a bottomless pit.
Drew
He's a bottom, babe.
Mary Beth Barone
He's a bottom. Yeah, I don't think that ye from within.
Kai (another perspective)
It does. And that's what I need to learn at the end of the day.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah.
Kai
That's what you should have wished for, but instead you wish to Drew and then you wish for it done so many times. That's why you keep up. And that's the definition of insanity.
Kai (another perspective)
Doing the same over and over again. I'm crazy.
Drew
Crazy.
Kai
But yeah, My media is that song Dead Fresh by Lil Baby. That's my media. Oh. And still just listening to Morning Dew by Beyonce. I voted for my Love island couple choice. I'm gonna find out today if they win. I have a feeling they're gonna win. Trinity and Bryce.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, it's. It's culminating this evening.
Kai
Yeah. Tonight's the.
Mary Beth Barone
I'm definitely ready for it to end.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Having not watched it, but I'm ready.
Kai
The thing is, I tapped in so late cuz this year I was like, I cannot dedicate my life to that. I can't do it. And then one night, I was just bored with Josh And Josie and we put a. Put it on. And it just so happened to be the Casa Amore episode.
Mary Beth Barone
Well, that'll get you.
Kai
And then I just. I. Yeah, I was really hooked because I was like, damn.
Lele Pons
I.
Kai
And there's a crazy liar on this season that's scary.
Mary Beth Barone
That's really fucking.
Kai
And his name is Sincere, which is amazing. It's amazing. And then it has me thinking about Josiah because his middle name name is Truth and he's the biggest liar I've ever met.
Drew
Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
Oh, wow.
Drew
He's crazy. He's crazy.
Kai
So don't name your kid what you want them to be. Name them the opposite.
Drew
The opposite.
Lele Pons
So
Drew
Mantis. Straight Phillips.
Kai
He wants to name his kid Mantis.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai
Okay.
Drew
Well, thank you so much.
Mary Beth Barone
That's where we're gonna end things.
Kai
And please, everybody go watch Galaxy Brain when it's out on the 28th and Netflix.
Mary Beth Barone
Watch it a lot of times on different devices, different profiles.
Kai (another perspective)
Yes.
Mary Beth Barone
Watch it with your friends. Put it on the background, I guess. Like, do they know how to win anymore?
Drew
The Justin Bieber. Yummy.
Mary Beth Barone
Do. Yummy.
Drew
Like, do you know when he, like, posted that infographic being like, you can turn your phone all the way down to silent and click replay and play it over and over so we can get number one on the charts. Yeah.
Mary Beth Barone
He post that.
Drew
Yeah.
Kai
Which is ridiculous to think about because you're Justin Bieber.
Mary Beth Barone
Like, it's probably going to do organic.
Kai
It's like Kai wishing to Drew again. It's just right.
Mary Beth Barone
It's like, what a waste.
Drew
You're going to do.
Mary Beth Barone
Waste of a post.
Drew
But yours is going to do organic numbers. We know this.
Mary Beth Barone
Hey, it's hours.
Drew
Y hours. Yeah.
Kai (another perspective)
Guys, play the squirting jacket that's at the end over and over again on 1% volume.
Mary Beth Barone
Yeah. In front of friends, family, whoever, co
Drew
workers, whatever it takes.
Mary Beth Barone
Thanks for having me. It's been really cool to be brought into this world.
Drew
Thank you for coming into our world.
Mary Beth Barone
I wonder what people will say about this episode.
Drew
I know.
Kai (another perspective)
I'm curious.
Kai
I wonder what they're going to see. You were asking what Drew saw, but I wonder at the end of the day, what they're going to see through their.
Mary Beth Barone
If we. If only we could listen to it through their eyes.
Drew
Through their eyes.
Mary Beth Barone
But we can't. We're not able to. Thank you guys. And thanks, Kai for man manning the boards.
Kai (another perspective)
Of course, of course. I've been doing so much work.
Mary Beth Barone
You didn't do anything the whole time. It.
Kai
