Foreign welcome to the Epic Success Podcast. I AM your host, Dr. Shannon Ervin. On the Epic Success Podcast, we unpack the neuroscience of success and really help you become a hardwired CEO and also hardwire your business to scale. All right, this is what we're doing here on the Epic Success Podcast. So glad you're here. Hey, hey, hey. I am so excited to be going live today to be hosting the Epic Success Podcast live. And today I'm going to be recording the Epic Success podcast. And today is a little bit of a vulnerable one. Today I'm going to be breaking down the one money mindset trap that I had that literally kept my business stalled for a couple of years, helped, like, literally stopped my ability to scale, to grow. And what I did to fix that, to create an eight figure thinking level so that my business could escalate up again. And so I'm super excited to be here to be talking about this very important topic today. Why I believe this is so important is that so many entrepreneurs at seven figures start to do what I call the backwards dive. We use push, we use hustle, we use like that kind of nervous system driven energy to get the thing up and going. And what's happening behind the scenes is we're actually hardwiring our brain to need that type of nervous system in order to continue to grow. But here's what most people don't tell you and we don't learn in school. Is that what got you to multiple six figures will not get you to multiple seven and beyond. In fact, it starts working against you at such a high level that it's. It's almost maddening. Like, you'll see the trajectory of the business getting close to seven and then it literally starts backsliding and you don't know why. And you're doing all the right things. And so you. What do we do? We hustle more, we work more, we kick our nervous system into high drive and we buy all the things, the masterminds, the mentorships, the et cetera, et cetera. But we don't realize that behind the scenes. And what I didn't realize that behind the scenes this system has been a network has been built to do it all myself. And what underlied the whole money mindset challenge for me is that my identity got tied up in what I did. I have a friend of mine that said my. Who got confused with my dog. In other words, I started gaining identity from the push, from the hustle, from the I'll do it, I'll work Harder than anybody else. I wonder if you might be in that spin cycle right now, because here's how I know you might be there. You have team, but they're still coming to you for every single answer. You're micromanaging everything, you're catching all the mistakes and you're wondering why isn't your team seeing these things too? Well, the real reason they're not seeing that is because they're deathly afraid of disappointing you because you always. I always wore the superwoman cape and swooped in to save the day. What I didn't know that was really happening was that I was afraid that my identity was being taken away. See, when you build your identity in an entrepreneurial world on what you do, on the hustle, on the grind, than when hustle and grind stops working, when you need to build a team in order to scale and you actually need to let them drive the car, you start getting into a tug of war. I started getting into a tug of war with what I wanted to create. But subconsciously speaking, for my brain's sake, it meant my identity. Where would my worth be? And so see, when we hustle, when we grind, when we do everything through nervous system push, I didn't know, but I was hard wiring a neural network that my identity, my who I was, my being was now connected to that kind of doing. And when you hire an A player team, when you build that next level, you follow all the systems, you get them all set up. If your brain is not wired to go there, you like a house of cards. I was literally breaking the foundation of my business one micromanaging moment at a time. My value for myself at that time, embarrassingly was that I needed to do it. And it makes sense, right? Because if your identity is tied up in that, and I'm saying that from being somebody who's a God girl, who knows my identity is in Christ, that knows that I'm chosen, that knows that my value does not lie in this world. But yet still I unknowingly hardwired my brain that if I didn't hustle, I didn't know who I was. So if this is resonating with you, I really want to encourage you to share this with your friends. Because what I want to share is how did I overcome that? What were some of the symptoms of that? How did I recognize it? And as some of you know, our systems came about, all of our neuro coaching models, all of our mindset, shifting platforms, methods, all of these processes literally got birthed out of that Time period, as most of us do. I got to the point where I was so confused about how to get past that glass ceiling, that sticking point, that I did what most of us do. I went into masterminds. And although I loved being in those rooms, nothing really moved. And so then I did the next thing and I hired a one on one coach, expecting to find that little tactic on the other side of the screen. That was the thing that made it all start working again. And to my sheer joy and horror, I found out that I was doing everything my mentor was doing. And I've shared this story many times. My mentor put God first, family first. But she had three eight figure businesses. So I knew she was doing something right. She was able to be really generous. One of my high values. But when I got behind the curtain and found out there wasn't this secret, my nervous system was looking for one other way to start to use hustle once again. And what I didn't know is my, my whole system was set up, my whole neural networks, they were set up that if I was hustling, I had value. What if I wasn't the one hustling? And where was my value? See, I didn't realize it at the time, but what I saw in my mentor was she thought differently about everything. About worth, enoughness, capacity. But more important, you've heard me tell the story before. Identity. See, as entrepreneurs, what it takes to get you up and off the ground literally starts working against you. And what I know now from brain science and neuropsychology is in that ramp up. We're building a neural network that creates our identity. And if we're not careful, we will get our identity from what we do instead of our who. And here's the thing, I didn't know it was happening. And as we would grow and get to a point, things would actually start to go smoother. I would have team members taking more ownership. I would have people on my team literally leading it. And unconsciously I would create chaos. I would come in and change things. I would add products, add programs. And I'm telling you this, I want to be just really transparent because I see this so, so, so often with the people that come into our programs that they're just hoping that the one more strategy and they could just hustle a little more and it will all work right. So one of the things that I realized, the moment that I realized that I had to change, that I had to get to the root, the root cause of this money mindset trap is during A launch over a decade ago when I literally had to let half of my team go. And I realized I was the only one that was making decisions. And that wasn't my team's fault. It's because I wouldn't let them. I wouldn't let them. And so that began the obsession. Hired my mentor, started seeing it was all about thinking, you know, went through and got a PhD. I always say the doctor, if you haven't gotten the book yet, make sure you grab the book. 67 day year. The doctor on my name stands for desperate enough to go figure out how did I get into this money mindset trap. Why was there a glass ceiling above me? Why could I not put revenue, get revenue up to a certain level? And why did I feel so bad when I wasn't working, when I wasn't hustling, when I was doing the right thing to make it grow and hiring team and having team in place, but I wasn't letting them do their job. So a lot of, you know, and I'm not going to go deep into the details because certainly they're all in the book of how to go about flipping that success switch. But the first key, I'm going to give three key realizations today that's going to help you get on the pathway. And then if you want to know the how to the steps, either buy the book or reach out to us and we can support you. But number one, and this is to my people of faith, I had to switch back where I was getting my resource from. Meaning I finally got to a place where I had to say my identity was in God. And not just saying that, but actually walking that out. And what that means is, and this is, if you're not a person of faith, you're just gonna like, just take this as a, an overall idea. But I had to not just tell myself, oh, I know, I know. I'm a. I'm a daughter of the King. I'm a called and I'm chosen. I had to start confessing out loud. Scripture says, confess with your mouth that he is king. So I would start to confess. My identity is in Christ. My provision comes from Christ. My, my being, my worth comes from being there, not from what I produce in the world. And it took about 67 days. And later I would honestly figure out that neural pathway, that old neural pathway was starting to get destroyed and the new neural pathway was starting to be built. But we cannot anchor, and I could no longer anchor my identity based on what I was doing. And this is so prevalent in the entrepreneur community. And no one is talking about it. And I'll be honest with you, I am scared to be sharing this with you because even though it was decades, well over a decade ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday. Because when I was doing it right, meaning when I was giving my team full control, they were owning it, they were generating revenue. I didn't know what to do with myself. And so I had to take my identity over from this place of I have to produce in order to have value. And I had to move it under what I believe is the authority, which is I had to put it back under Christ and I had to rehearse. I couldn't just say, yeah, yeah, yeah, I believe that because if you would have asked me at the time, I would have said, yes, my provision comes from the Lord, yes, my identity is in Christ. But. But my neural networks didn't lie. And the reality is I, my networks believed that I got my identity from what I did and if I didn't do, then I didn't know my who. And so I just started every single day into the mirror. I am, I am a child of God, I am provided for and I would just speak out these truths from Scripture. Now again, if you're not a person of faith, whatever that is for you. But I had to move my. I just like see it as an umbrella. Like my identity was under the umbrella of I had to produce to have value and I needed to move it out from there and really put it under the authority of where my identity truly comes from, that I have worth if I don't do a thing. And that took about 67 days for my brain to start to build that network, to really start to shatter that old thought process down. Now I couldn't just do that because at the time we were still grow. We started to grow as I moved from under the umbrella of hustle and I have to produce and move under the umbrella of who I was in Christ. Then I started to trust that my team members could do it better than I could. And that was my practice. So if my words were what shattered the pathways in my brain and started rebuilding them, my actions were, I'm going to give this activity to my team and no matter where it falls, I will not take it back. I will not take it back. The shift that happened. See, when you're under the umbrella of what you do is who you are, then money becomes a measurement of your value. Let me say that again for the people in the back. When your identity is under the umbrella of what you do. What you do is connected to who you are. Then you look to the measurement of money. How much as an entrepreneur, how much revenue is coming in as a measurement of your value. Oh, that's why when the sales are amazing, you feel amazing. When the sales start to shift, you feel horrible. Felt horrible because to me it was this. I didn't know it. Right? You didn't know it till today. It was like an unconscious thing. But there was. It's almost like there was this barometer and if it went down, it meant I wasn't enough. And if it went up, it meant, oh, look, I'm enough. We were never called to entrepreneurship to be under the umbrella of that. See, I had to make this shift number two, that money was just a tool to be used. It's not something to measure our worth. Yes, right. Pieces here. So I love to see your piece. So here's the step that I want you to think about today. I just want you to get quiet for a second. Like I had to get decade ago, more than a decade ago, but I'm dating myself here now. I had to get quiet and say, where's my identity? Where's my strength? Where's my provision come from? It doesn't come from my effort. Now once I got that straight, when I produced effort to, I knew where my strength was coming from and I knew where my provision was coming from. So what that meant was I could go and do things and trust the results would happen. And the money shifted from this measurement of who I was and my value in the world to a tool that could reach more people, to a tool that could create more outcome, to a tool that could really change people's lives. Now we have hit our 20 year anniversary in our charity. And so when, when I made that shift, when I stopped my identity being in what I did and I moved it under who I am, the business started to take off again. Because if you think about it, when our identity is wrapped up in what we do, then it's almost like that like energy back in high school, when you like really wanted to date the person and they knew it, they kind of like took a step back that something energetic that I won't understand the sight of heaven. But when I shifted to the results are just from my giving. Right? So that's the shift number three. Shift number one was I had to move my identity out from underneath what I did, produced who I was underneath for me personally, underneath who I was, was a daughter of the king. You Know that I had my authority, my provision, my strength, all came from Christ, whatever that is for you. But I had to move it out from under the do. Okay, number two, I had to then realize as my identity shifted, the money went from a measurement to a tool. In fact, all of our goals in our company, yes, we do put revenue goals up there, but they're highly tied to the activity that would create them. And we measure the activity. Because the third piece of the puzzle that really shifted me out of that money mindset trap is the idea that there is a metaphysical spiritual law of sowing and reaping. So see, if I'm over here and I think that my identity is in what I do and I'm measuring it based on money, then I don't want to give, I want to receive. Because I. Because over here in this broken model, receiving means value. Do you see how that breaks down so fast? And it's what literally stops revenue from growing. And again, like this is before we created any of our sync neuro coach models. It's why I went and got the PhD. I was done. I was over it. I'm like, I'm just the weirdo that went and got a PhD in neuropsychology to figure out how to break those patterns. So shift the identity out from underneath it, right? That was step one. The money becomes not a measurement, but a tool. And then trusting this law of sowing and reaping, meaning that you can give and giving produces the crop, right? That caring about people, caring about outcomes that you're providing in the world, if that's where my energy was, revenue would increase and what I noticed, and I would play with this a little bit when I really started focusing back on a number, they would decrease when I flipped it and focused solely on how can I serve people whether they come in or not, to the best of my ability, trusting in that law of sowing and reaping, meaning I don't need to worry about what's going to come in because all I need to do is focus on the give. So shifting out from the umbrella, shifting from measurement to tool, and then shifting from wanting and receiving and measurement to giving. Those were the three real key movement makers for this shift. And when I say the shift, ultimately the models got created and I was able to hardwire in an eight figure, thinking, operating, acting, leading mindset. And then literally from that, it will pull revenue towards you. But as an entrepreneur, we're always going to be in this, what I call the spiritual battle of money mindset. And that is if your identity is coming from what you produce, your production, your revenue will always have a ceiling. It will always get capped. And I want to share what was the hardest moment in my entrepreneur life with you, embarrassing as it is, because I want you to know that, number one, your identity's can't be underneath what you do. The money can't be the measurement, it has to be the tool. And that the more that you give, the more that comes back. Think about now. I live now most of the time around Dallas area. There's lots of crops here, so I have such a visual representation. I watch the crops get planted and I watch them come up. And imagine if you sat on the sidelines, if the farmer sat on the sidelines and he said, all right, I'm just going to sit here and wait for the crop. But he never sowed the seed. We would laugh, we would think, or you've lost your mind. But yes, if our identity is outside of where it should be, that is tending to what we do. We are, we're in the energy of we got to receive because we're looking for that to validate who we are. So I hope this podcast has been valuable to you today. I live streamed this podcast today because it was on my heart for you to be able to hear this sooner than it will come out. So if you join me live, I was really happy that that was the case. Now this episode will come up on the Epic Success podcast later this week and I just wanted to encourage you. If you're ready to truly hardwire your brain for the next level, if you're ready to scale, to truly have your team become those revenue generators, those daily owners of operations so that you can work on the business instead of in the business where profit will increase in time, will decrease, because your value is not coming from what you, from what you do, but in building this incredible business that helps people, changes people's lives, makes a difference, and runs like the machine that it was meant to be. That doesn't happen by accident, right? That happens by hard wiring. Three main systems gotta hardwire you. That's what we were talking about today, hardwiring you as a CEO to think, to operate and to lead at that eight figure level, we've got to hardwire your team to be able to become revenue generators and become internal daily operators so that you can work on the business instead of in it. Being the conductor from above and seeing this beautiful orchestra create great things in the world. And then we have to hardwire the system of profit and time. That doesn't happen automatically. It's not an output from revenue. It actually is a system that needs to get hardwired so you can bring more profit to the bottom line and get more of your time back. Because let's just be real, more entrepreneurs than I have ever talked to. We all say the same thing. We started this to create freedom. And what I don't want you to end up with as you're growing, your business is a really, really expensive job. Right? So in the show notes, when you watch the podcast, there'll be a link to video training all around how to really hardwire those three systems. That's for you if you're at almost seven figures or above seven figures trying to get to eight. For those that aren't quite there yet, we have the book that came out. So if you haven't gotten your hands on this, this is the step by step system to hardwire your brain to achieve more in 67 days than you have in the last year. And of course, we have a coaching program that can walk you through that too. That's what I have for you this week on the Epic Success Podcast. Until next time, we'll see you. And here's the parting thought, why your brain know who you are, serve the world and it'll all work out. All right, that's what I have for you this week. Until next week, bye for now.
