My estrangement story began with a divorce and remarriage and some decisions around that. The guilt and shame was overwhelming as most of my family didn't speak to me for several years. You can read my journey with estrangement and the peace I found at https://www.beckykolb.com/meet-becky
I discovered the #1 step toward healing broken relationships and the barrier that kept me from it. You don’t have to make that same mistake.
My relationship with God was almost non-existent and I wondered if He had rejected me too. But what I discovered was Him standing with arms wide open waiting for me to turn around.
I learned that you can't force reconciliation. Any attempt to change another person is fruitless. The only control you and I have is ourselves and my podcast and coaching focus is on WHOLENESS in your heart.

Send me a text…what do struggle with most in estrangementChange your thoughts and your life will change. How it changes depends on how you think. Now, this is not the power of positive thinking message. But there is truth to how our thoughts affect our life – either positively or negatively. Admittedly, I am a skeptic when people start talking about an attitude of gratitude. Those Pollyanna women who are always in a good mood, see the best in others and refuse to get in the dirt when they are down. In fact, with these women, you almost never know that they are struggling. Estranged relationships create a breeding ground for negative thinking as we’ve discussed before. I’ll share with you today how if you want to change your life, then you’ll need to change your thoughts. Let’s roll. Send me a text…what do struggle with most in estrangementEstrangement and Mother’s Day are two attributes that are at odds with one another. And when you are estranged from a son or daughter, it’s a trigger that can send you spiraling into a dark place. As I’ve talked with some mom’s they’ve expressed that they just want the day to end so they can get on with life. Women work themselves into a tizzy (that’s an expression I heard often growing up) creating anxiety and stress. Although reconnected with my kids now, I remember several Mother’s Day blues where sadness overwhelmed me. Estranged not only from my kids, but also my mother. My value as a person was at question in my mind. Consequently, it’s a day that I too wanted to pass quickly. Today I’ll share how you can turn this day into a celebration rather than mourning. Send me a text…what do struggle with most in estrangementThere is a bridge that connects an unsaved heart and that’s the subject of today’s podcast episode. Women have asked me how to handle their unsaved kids especially when estranged. That’s a worthy question and one that resonates with every Christian mom around the world. I've sometimes overstepped, but always with good intentions. However, your kids will not see it that way. They see it as intrusion into their adult life. A Mom shared with me that she wrote a lengthy letter to her unsaved kids in hopes that they might be more open once she was gone. Certainly, we desire that our kids find a relationship with Christ but pushing or threatening will only drive them further away. Listen in today as I share some of the mistakes I made along with some practical tips that can keep you engaged in the spiritual life of your kids. Send me a text…what do struggle with most in estrangementThe sting of rejection has been on my mind this week. For Christians, it’s Holy Week and I’ve been thinking about conversations I’ve had with women about estrangement. Moreover, the rejection these women discuss is typically a child who has walked away. Rarely do I speak with anyone where the parent has chosen rejection. Siblings, In-Laws, and other estrangement also sting, but the emotional pain of your child choosing to end a relationship with you is deeply personal and hurtful. Holy week creates an opportunity for you to draw closer to the heart of Jesus. Mocking, false accusations, rejection, loneliness and ultimately a sacrificial death. The good news is Sunday is coming and we know He lives. Today’s episode relates the sting of an estranged relationship you face with the love and understanding of your heavenly father. Let’s dive in.Find the full transcript for this episode plus resources for women at Estrangement: Turning Pain into Peace at beckykolb.com/62.Becky Kolb helps women with estranged relationships find lasting peace and the ability to move forward from guilt & shame, learn the process of forgiveness, rediscover God and what he says about you, develop boundaries and non-negotiables for healthy relationships.
