In today's episode, Marsha shares about her latest health challenge with Achenbach Syndrome. What the heck is that? This RARE condition involves sudden swelling, tingling, and discoloration in fingers or toes. It has no known cause and is not associated with other health conditions, and usually resolves within days. Sounds so fun! Just kidding. Finding a physician who finally took time to listen and find the root cause was huge for her. Marsha also nerds out about NLP as per usual. Today we are speaking with the Motivational Speaker, Kristina Coccoluto. Kristina is a previvor, born with the BRCA1 mutation, leaving her with an 87% lifetime risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer and a 60% risk of being diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She took her circumstances into her own hands and began her marathon journey as a distraction before having a risk-reducing double mastectomy. Raising funds and awareness for the cancer community for almost a decade, she knew she could serve others on a deeper level, but didn't quite know the direction to take. And last year, as she crossed the Boston finish line, 28 weeks after a complete hysterectomy everything she had endured began to make sense. Kristina is a wife, mom of 3 kiddos, melanoma survivor, and a 3 star Abbot World Major Marathoner and she's not done yet. Kristina is stepping into her purpose by using her voice as a motivational speaker to empower others, advocate for change, and provide hope for those facing their own mortality. In this episode, we dive into: 1) How marathon running became a distraction from all that she was experiencing regarding the double mastectomy and complete hysterectomy. That distraction started her growth, expansion, and learning how far her story could reach others and show them that they too could choose to do the thing that expanded them. 2) Motherhood, choosing yourself first, being the example for your kids, and all the messy steps people don't always see. In this process of her story reaching places she couldn't even foresee before she started, her story is reaching people globally, and she is continuing to grow into seeing what is possible with her story. In today's episode, we are talking about how to listen to our bodies, how our bodies speak to us every single day, and how when we don't listen it will force us to listen and pay attention whether it is convenient or not. In this episode, we dive into: 1) Sue shares a story of how her body had a small setback/flare and it opened up the doors to the podcast today. We open up about shame, our heart, how our body holds onto it, and what it is doing to our bodies, and how we can release it. 2) We dive into the relationship between the fascia (our subconscious mind) and how it responds to stressors and triggers, and how it puts us into this perpetual state of constriction which is blocking flow, ease, and opportunities that are available for us. We create change by consciously being aware and interrupting our subconscious patterns that are on repeat every single day. 3) We have to stop going through life so robotic and unconscious and bring ourselves back to the present moment. Be consciously aware of the patterns that are on repeat. Build a practice and relationship with yourself on a daily basis and see what is working and what is not working. This inventory is feedback which builds a better relationship with ourselves. Today we are speaking with the Transformational Speaker and Best-selling Author, Kute Blackson. Kute is a beloved inspirational speaker and transformational teacher. He speaks at countless events he organizes around the world as well as at outside events including A-Fest, YPO (Young Presidents' Organization), and EO (Entrepreneurs' Organization). He is a member of the Transformational Leadership Council, a select group of one hundred of the world's foremost authorities in the personal development industry. Winner of the 2019 Unity New Thought Walden Award, Blackson is widely considered a next generation leader in the field of personal development. His mission is simple: To awaken and inspire people across the planet to access inner freedom, live authentically and fulfill their true life's purpose. In this episode we dive into: 1) Kute shares his early childhood years, and how he was exposed to such incredible amounts of personal development and growth from a young age. He was in the environment of spirituality, meta-physical studies, meditation and being ordained at the age of 14 by his dad and traveling to the United States to attend a personal development conference as a young teen. He was continuously being exposed to what was possible. 2) He bought the Tony Robbins tapes and listened to them daily at 11, and then a $500 investment in the Jim Rohn's tapes at 12 and 13. He would spend hours reading a day, and became engrossed in his spiritual growth journey. This experience led him to having strong visualizations of becoming an author and an empowerment speaker from a very young age. 3) Kute shared how he actively practiced seeing his future goals coming to life, speaking to empty chairs, believing he was inspiring a room full of people, and following his calling and gifts. He practiced this while learning the power of surrender and trusting the intelligence of life and what is planned and available for us. We are co-creating with the universe by what we say yes and no to and how we learn to surrender. Today we are back! We are so excited to be back podcasting and sharing with you today. We have been on a journey of healing over the last few months. Today we want to talk about stress and how it affects our mind, our productivity and how we can find ways to support ourselves as we navigate life. In this episode we dive into: 1) Sue shares her experience of being in a sweat lodge and how her body felt after that experience. Marsha shares her experience of weekly infrared saunas and how it has supported her stress levels and nervous system. They both encourage you to look for things that can be pulled in quickly that can give your body that kind of impact and restorative experience that is accessible. 2) Look for ways to settle your nervous system supporting recovery and rest, as opposed to doing and adding more, it is finding ways to encourage our bodies to rest, recharge and release the things our bodies are not meant to hold onto. The heat, saunas, infrared saunas and sweat lodges help our bodies to release deep nervous system stress and further promote healing. Today we are sharing a tribute to our friend and fellow author, Amber Nicole who we recently lost on March 7th. Through this vulnerable and open conversation we honour Amber and the impact she had on us and on anyone else who had the privilege of knowing her. Amber was one of the authors published in "Every Body Holds A Story" in 2022, and her chapter was titled "I'm Not Still Here By Accident." Amber was brilliant, incredibly talented and a gift to all of our lives. In this episode we dive into: 1) Our experience in losing a dear friend, the emotions, the importance of our words, speaking in terms of dying by suicide, what this experience has been like to witness, and how we have been processing the loss of Amber and from attending her Celebration of Life. 2) The trauma that our body holds onto, how it continues to stack up and our body works to process, make sense of and avoid our emotions. We explain how the conscious and the subconscious mind works, how the subconscious mind works to protect us from painful memories and experiences. We talk about different modalities that can be used to support ourselves and our bodies as we work to heal from trauma and challenges. 3) Both Sue and Marsha pay their own personal tributes in this episode to Amber and address a difficult topic, which they know and believe that Amber would love for them to not shy away from this conversation. At the end of this episode, Sue shares a song that Amber played and sang for her when Sue's mom passed away in 2022. This is a song by Snow Patrol called, "Chasing Cars." Today we are unpacking and talking about the feelings of overwhelm and how it feels in our body. Sue openly shares her feelings of overwhelm and together they unpack it and reframe it to shift the energy. This is a powerful conversation of in the moment reframing, rewording and working through Sue's feelings and emotions as her business is growing and expanding. Feelings of overwhelm are focused on the future events that aren't even here yet. In this episode we dive into: 1) Sue openly shares how her self care game has improved and she's made her health and fitness a priority. Now as her business grows and she is receiving referrals, sometimes it is the fear of success that is more of the issue than the fear of failure. We reference the book The Big Leap and how we tend to upper limit ourselves as we expand. Marsha also references the book, The Gap and The Gain by Dan Sullivan, and it is a great reference book especially as our business continues to grow. 2) A question to ask yourself is what will happen if you don't allow your business (or whatever your goal is) to grow and what will happen if you do allow it to grow. What will change if you do and what will change if you don't go after what you want? For most people it comes down to being clear on what you want success to look like, feel like, what your priorities are, and we dive into the topics of scripting and this certainty that what is for us won't miss us, it's our job to take care of ourselves to be the best version of ourselves. 3) Marsha refers to change at the identity level, and how once we determine the identity change, we continue to show up with the person who has those behaviours, habits, thoughts, taking those consistent choices. She also shares the "wouldn't it be cool" scripting game that is really empowering. We talked about the power of our words and how it shifts the energy to change our words from overwhelm to expansion. Today we are sharing our thoughts on collaboration over competition and during this episode we share some real life examples of where collaboration is working and where it isn't. In this episode we dive into: 1) Practicing collaboration can still allow us to earn what we are worth and it doesn't block us from creating what we are here to create. Together they share a couple of examples of proof where collaborations are working and when they're not working. 2) When people sit in an energy of lack and are afraid of collaboration, that is a belief that they are holding onto and it requires changing that belief before they will see the value of collaboration. Marsha refers to Brendon Buchard's mastermind where he hosted some of the most successful and impactful entrepreneurs in one room to learn from each other. From this experience Mel Robbins shared that the belief that the person doing the same thing as you is your competition is what is blocking you from your next level of success. 3) To state the obvious, both Marsha and Sue are so passionate about collaborative books, as they published their first volume last year, and are currently onboarding authors for volume 2 of Every Body Holds A Story, and Marsha is writing her second solo book this year. If you are ready to dedicate some time for writing a collaborative or a solo book, reach out to Marsha or Sue on social media or join the Facebook group link in the show notes.
