Hello everyone and welcome to everything Iconic with me, Dani Pellegrino. I got a special episode for you all this week in lieu of a Valley recap. Although we will be talking about the show because I have some insiders here. Of course, Janet and Jason, cast members on the Valley. They're here for the podcast this week. Janet and Jason, how are you guys doing?
Janet
We're good. Thanks for having us.
Jason
Doing great. Yeah, pleasure to be here.
Danny Pellegrino
Do you feel Better this season. Cause it. I mean, Janet, we've had you on, I think every season that you've been on the show and you've had a rough go.
Janet
I definitely have a rough go.
Danny Pellegrino
But this season, it seems like maybe the audience is coming around a little bit.
Right.
Janet
I finally have, like, one or two fans.
Danny Pellegrino
Two of them.
Janet
It's nice to have a couple people in the comments that say nice things. It's so relieving and new.
Danny Pellegrino
Well, it must have been tough. And I could only imagine, like, because you all take so much and we all get invested. And I always say it's best to kind of go into these shows and just, like, go on the roller coaster and, like, let Bravo tell us who we're gonna like for the moment because, like, they will let us know. Like, the. Between the editing production and everything, it's like, we get to know, you know, we change sides. And sometimes I think it is dangerous to, like, pledge your allegiance to one cast member because it's like, then the next season, you're gonna love that cast member. And so it's fun to kind of go on the ride.
Janet
Totally. No, it's been. It's. And I'm actually grateful in a way that I started on the lower end with Hate because it taught me a lot. First of all, it made me develop very thick skin, taught me who my real friends are. I had people who I. I was, like, noticing, like, oh, they're not, like, reposting my stuff because I'm so hated right now. And so it really helped me see, like, who my real friends are and who's going to be there for me no matter what. So then to kind of have people finally come around to me a little bit, it's, like, nice, you know, that I went through the hard part in the begin and now get to enjoy
Danny Pellegrino
it a little bit. Yeah.
And, Jason, how was it for you kind of dealing with the fan stuff because you were both new to the show a couple of years ago?
Jason
Well, Jen and I are a little different because season one, I was actually pretty well received. So I didn't do a ton Season one. Season two, I did a little more, and people did not like it. This season so far, you know, you haven't seen me doing much, and I'm, like, as loved as I've ever been. So I'm realizing, you know, maybe if I even take next season off, I'll be like, they'll build a statue of me
Danny Pellegrino
now.
I gotta.
I hate to get so deep right off the bat, like, With a really intense question. I don't want to be. I don't want to be too hard on you guys, but I think the thing that I'm most questioning this season is, what were you thinking when Britney decided to throw crab boil 24 hours before her surgery?
Janet
I had never had crab oil before, so, you know, I actually forgot, I think, in the moment that it was, like, night before surgery, because I feel like night before surgery, you're supposed to, like, not eat.
Danny Pellegrino
It's crazy when you really think about it. It's crazy.
Janet
Yeah, for, like, 12, 24 hours or something. And I think most of the time, like, I don't know when I've had surgery a couple times, you're so worried that, like, you know about what you're putting in your body. So I think, you know, it probably wasn't the best decision.
Danny Pellegrino
And there's always, like, really strict rules about, like, you can't have coffee that 24 hours or ibuprofen or even water. I feel maybe I'm thinking of colonoscopy prep, but I feel. Yeah, it's like, you know, pretty strict things. Yeah.
Jason
What is the rule? Is it 24 hours? Because it may be that, like, she's thinking, okay, well, I have a feast 23 hours and 59 minutes right before my surgery, Then I'm good to go.
Janet
I don't know how. What she was thinking. I think when I think we asked her, like, in. You know, know, in the moment, and she said something like, it's 12 hours, and her surgery wasn't until afternoon the next day. But I feel like having anything with, like, a ton of spice and, like, fried and oil, like, seafood especially. Probably not the best idea, but, yeah, maybe Brittany was just trying to make the most of it before she could. Before her cutoff hit. Right, Right.
Danny Pellegrino
What are you guys watching? Before I get deeper into the Valley? Are you guys watching Summer House? Like, have you been keeping up with the going on over there? What do you think? The reunion part three just finished airing, and I know they have a bonus episode coming, but kind of, what's your take as people who are cast members on a show that's, like, also around the same age kind of thing?
What do you.
What's your take on it?
Janet
You know, I was expecting Amanda and Wes to come in sort of like, during scandival, like, just, you know, crying, begging for forgiveness, like, realizing what they did had such strong implications, not only for their relationships and exes, but the entire group. And so I don't know what was up with a beta blocker that he took. But I was like, don't do that. The reunion's the time to be emotional, Cry, yell, like, get it out of your system. He just was frozen. I feel like the whole time, it was so odd.
Danny Pellegrino
And I know people. I talked about the beta blocker thing, and the only reason I sort of mentioned the beta blocker on my podcast is that was the only explanation we got for their emotionless state. Wes Andy directly asked beta blockers. And then a lot of people were reaching out even this morning, saying, that's not beta blockers. It was something else. And it's like, we can't diagnose them without, you know, Beta blockers was sort of the only thing they told us. But it was hard to watch the emotionlessness. And I know Casey Wilson of Bitch Sesh said, we need a drug test at these reunions, but it's like. And I totally agree, but I hate when, like, people. I don't know. Have you guys in the. In the two reunions you've done, has anyone showed up sort of catatonic in that way? How do you feel if someone on your cast had shown up without sort of showing any emotion in that way,
how would you react?
Jason
We've only done one reunion so far. We didn't have. We didn't do one after season one, and our next reunion's coming up soon. Around the. Around the corner. But, yeah, no, I mean, I think that there's a lot of stress. Like, so I've only done one reunion, and it's like, nine hours. You're just sitting there like, you don't know what's going to be asked of you. You don't know how people are going to react to certain things. You're just thinking, like, man, if I, like, mess this up, I could, like, really embarrass myself in front of a lot of people. So I don't really shade anyone for using a beta blocker if that's something that could help them get through it, because it's just.
Danny Pellegrino
I don't know.
Jason
I have a lot of feelings about a lot of this stuff, to be honest with you, because I haven't really watched Summer House, but because I'm on a Bravo show, my phone algorithm thinks I'm, like, the number one Bravo super fan. So I get, like, a ton of Summer House stuff. And it's just when. When you put the additional spotlight of being on a TV show with, like, all the public attention that's going to follow and all the potential backlash it's like, yeah, you're doing something wrong, but the ramification for your wrongdoing is so much more heightened and elevated than if you did something wrong in your friend group, not on tv. So, like, what comes along with, like, messing up is like, so much stress and strain to put on somebody and so tough for their mental health that anything they can take or do to kind of alleviate that, I don't really
Janet
fault them for Jason's, like, how do I get a beta blocker?
Jason
I don't think I'm gonna need one myself, personally for this reunion. I mean, unless people really are gonna get on me for, like, I don't know, being a baby about that injury, that's pretty much the only thing I really have.
Danny Pellegrino
Just don't take the baby. We need. We need you not to. We need you not to.
Janet
I feel like with the reunion, the attitude normally, like last year, it was like telling yourself to stay calm through a lot of it. And worrying about being too calm has never been something I've gone in with. It's always been like, go in, stay calm, stay level headed, say what you need to say, but don't, like, lose your mind on anybody. So, you know, to watch that, I'm like, oh, there's. There's another end of the spectrum where you can be too calm and not say enough.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, yeah. And maybe there's no winning too, because if. If there's too much emotion, then maybe the audience would say, okay, let's calm
Janet
it down a little bit.
Danny Pellegrino
Speaking of. Because you just brought up your reunion last season, I think one of the things that the audience questioned is that. And we're sort of seeing that come around this season with your reaction to Danny and Nia, and the audience is sort of seeing that situation in a different way. But I think one of the criticisms with you guys is, like, the defense of Jax, perhaps. Could you maybe speak to that? Do you feel like you maybe defended him too much last season? Or was there something we missed? Or can you explain?
Janet
I don't really feel like we, you know, I know the audience feels that way. I don't really feel like we defended Jax as much as, like, the hate we get for it. You know, this was. Britney at the time was struggling tremendously. Cruise was not in a great place either, dealing with all of the big transitions of him leaving. And, you know, I think what we wanted was to see Jax make a change. And for the first time, he was at least willing to admit he had a problem. He was willing to check into A place to get help. And we've been really hard on Jax in many other instances, maybe more privately, and, you know, told him, you know, he needs to get his act together and, you know, step up, be a better parent, husband, co parent, ex husband, all of these things. But that was the one time I feel like that he was actually willing to do something. So it didn't feel like the time that we should be, like, kicking him while he's down. It's like he was at least willing to go get help.
Danny Pellegrino
Help.
Jason
And I'll be fully transparent, I don't have. And I didn't have a lot of experience with friends or people in my life going to rehab, so I don't really know, like, how to deal with something like that. So taking the rehab, you know, I was proud of him for agreeing to go. And then what's the protocol like then when you put a friend in rehab, when they come out, you just drop them. You know what I mean? Like, like, what's the point then? So it's sort of like I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and, you know, because 30 days in rehab I would think would be good to change, potentially change anyone, so at least give them a chance. And, you know, time has passed and we still. I still check in on him, but we don't really have like, a very, you know, strong, active relationship at this time. But I still hope that he, you know, does better for his sake, for Britney's sake and for Cruise's sake.
Janet
Yeah, I think Jason also did a really good job. Like, Britney didn't want to really be communicating him with him when he was gone, and he. She needed somebody who could at least, like, talk to him and talk some sense in him because he was still doing crazy stuff from rehab and he was still treating Brittany very poorly, you know, while he was in there. But she didn't want to have to be the one to communicate. So she really did kind of need some sort of middleman to communicate with him what was needed. But also, you know, I don't know, it was a really kind of shitty position to be in, to be honest. And I think all. All we wanted was, like, to support Britney and Cruz and to help him get as better as he could. That being said, I think he's still not being very kind to Brittany these days.
Danny Pellegrino
Well, now that you're saying now. Sorry to interrupt. Yeah, now that you're saying. I'm thinking back, and it seems like Brittany never had an. It's never had an issue with the way that you. You all were with Jax.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
And so maybe we should kind of look at. Maybe that'd be another way to look at it.
Janet
She's always been very. Yeah. Thankful, especially of Jason. And Jason has a way to talk to people in a calm way and just be like, hey, you know, you very factual, like you did xyz. This isn't okay. You know, you should have done this differently. And so Brittany's always been very thankful and appreciative of the way especially Jason has, like, worked that situation. And anytime there's ever been anything, any communication we have with Jax, you know, we talk to Brittany about, and it's very far and few in between these days. But, you know, we're always, like, very transparent with her if he reaches out and, you know, kind of checking in on what she's most comfortable with us doing.
Danny Pellegrino
I loved on this week's episode of the show where you all go to Schwartz's apartment. I loved when Brittany spotted the Hooters chairs from out of the corner. She said, that's my Hooters merch. That's my Hooters merch. Can't believe he's got it out. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jason
She's a hall of famer.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
Speaking of couples, what do you know about Michelle and Dr. Dre? Like, you gotta give me something. There has to be something I've seen. I know everyone's asking you guys on interviews, and my take on it is that Michelle or someone is like, don't talk about this. But there has to be something.
Janet
She is very, like, private in general. I'll say. Like, with Michelle, like, you know, there was a couple months ago where she was seeing somebody and I was like, prying, as I always do, and trying to get information, and she's like. Until I go on like a couple dates and I know what this is, or if I'm gonna, like, move forward or this person is like a boyfriend, I'm not gonna talk about it. And so she's the same way now with him, so I'm not really surprised. But she is very tight lipped about it. I really don't know much, and whenever
Jason
I see her, I ask her. I try to get as much information as I can. I mean, I graduated high school in 2001, so the Chronic 2001 was my number one most played album throughout high school. So, yeah, I have questions.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, like, we need Dr. Dre to appear on the Valley. Like, I need to see him.
Janet
I would die.
Danny Pellegrino
However, we need to free up that budget to get him in there. I would love to see. I think Michelle's having a great season too. And I haven't really found myself the past two seasons getting to know Michelle in the way that I am this season. I feel like she. We're getting to see another side of her. And I do have this theory. I've been saying on the show that I think her and Jesse will hook up again. My. My sort of conspiracy theory or like, prediction is that on next season's cast trip at the end of the season, like that, you guys. You know how you guys usually do one and then one at the end, or at least that's been the formula. I think at the. The second cast trip of next season, you guys are all gonna wake up and someone is. Everyone's gonna be like, whispering and like, oh, they hooked up. That's my prediction.
Jason
You're already projecting the downfall of the show and Dr.
Danny Pellegrino
Journey 100%.
Jason
And Lacy and Jesse as well.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Yeah.
I feel like.
I don't know.
I. I don't know that's. I've watched enough Bravo to know that. I feel like that's coming even though I know it's everyone's real life. I'm not saying it's gonna be scripted or anything. It's just. That's my kind of gut. Gut instinct.
Janet
I would die. There would need to be. I feel like a lot of alcohol involved for that to happen.
Danny Pellegrino
But do you see us. But do you feel like there's still a little bit. A little tiny. I know Jesse's with Lacey and Michelle, possibly with Dr. Dre, but do you feel like there's a little spark between her and Jesse?
Janet
I think they both want to have a. Like, Michelle's very peaceful in real life. Like, she's very calm. Like, her tone and everything is just. She truly enjoys, like, peace and quiet. Like, I don't know if that. I don't know if she's ever turned her TV on in her place. Like, she's somebody who just has a very calm way about her and aura, and I think she wants that. Like with Jesse and they have, you know, a pretty good co parenting relationship now, but I think she's been over him for a long time.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
And I'll also have to disagree with you on that because as far as I've heard, the last, you know, year or so, their relationship was not very sexual. So I don't know why they would just start having sex now.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. But, you know, I. Yeah, may. But maybe. I see my. My theory is that it. It'll be sparked because they've have all this tenacity or not. Maybe that's not the right word, but, like, they'll hate. Fuck.
Janet
You think they're gonna hate?
Danny Pellegrino
I also think it'd be really good tv.
Jason
I mean, they were still married when Jesse was prancing around. And those tighty whities. She didn't go for it.
Danny Pellegrino
So was Jesse. Okay, wait, am I making this up? Wasn't there, like, a connection between Jesse and Anna Nicole? Was that talked about on the show? They dated.
Janet
They met at a trim spa ad. Jesse was, like, the model with her in a trim spa ad, and they dated briefly after.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay.
Janet
And I think he'll, like. He'll happily tell that story.
Danny Pellegrino
You need to ask him. Maybe he talked about it in, like, the first season or something.
Jason
I think it's tough to picture because. Okay, Jesse back then had, like, long Fabio hair. Yeah, he was, like, really, like. He was, like, from the COVID of a romance novel. So, like, we're picturing Jesse now with, like, his loafers on, you know? But that's not the guy who was with Anakoldsmith.
Janet
Yeah, he had a tongue ring.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, my God. I thought I saw him at the post office the one day, and I was, like, running up to this man. I was like, jesse. And it was not him. It was just a man in a hat.
Jason
Was it Rupert Everett?
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, it was Rupert Everett. Okay. How are you? How do you like Lacey? How are you feeling about Lacey?
Are you guys close with Lacey, or what's your relationship?
Janet
I wouldn't say we're close. I was disappointed with some of the stuff that happened last summer. And since then, now that it's started to air a little bit, we've communicated a little bit. And I think that she means well, but kind of puts her foot in her mouth a lot and says stuff sometimes that she's like. Like, she says stuff. But she is quick to apologize, too. So I've received a couple apologies from her since things have aired, and I want peace with her. I don't know. It's such a strange place to be in where it's like, people expect all of us to be really close and best friends. And it's like, for me, Lacy is my best friend Michelle's ex husband's girlfriend.
Danny Pellegrino
So in real life or in anyone's life, that would not be someone you'd be friends with?
Janet
No, I mean, I. Maybe I'd see them at, like, Isabella's birthday party or something and be cordial, but you know, we are around each other a lot and I think that, I do think that she means well and I just, I want to see her like, do a little bit better with some of the stuff she says.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
And to her credit also, I do personally think that she is more introspective and empathetic than some other people maybe on the cast. So I think that even if.
Danny Pellegrino
More than who? Wait, more than who?
Jason
You know, some people. I don't know.
Danny Pellegrino
We'll get into that. Yeah.
Okay.
Jason
It's a big cast, but I do think that she's somebody who, if you are having issues with her, you can potentially talk it out and work it out. Or some people maybe not so much.
Danny Pellegrino
The thing I find refreshing about her as a viewer is it. It doesn't feel like she's moving in a. In too calculated of a way. Maybe I'm wrong about that. But even when we see her get upset with Jesse, it just feels like she, she's. She's not as calculated, at least as what it seems to me. It's like she's happy to call out her boyfriend. She's happy to call out whoever she's feuding with or to be nice to Michelle in a moment or whoever. You know, she's moving in an interesting way. Although I, as a parent, I would get. If I was Michelle, there's a couple moments that even just like little quick montage y moments that I would be like, oh, I'd be upset if I was watching my ex's current act that
Janet
way with my kid. Yeah. Braid my kid's hair.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. Like that would. Does Michelle. Is that a thing?
Janet
Honestly, I think as long as Isabelle is happy and Isabella has a great relationship with Lacey, I think Michelle's like, as long as I, when I drop my daughter off, I know that she's going to have a good couple days. She's like, doesn't care.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
I want to take a quick.
I want to thank Acast and we'll be right back. I have still so many questions for you guys, so sit tight, little bear.
This episode is sponsored by Michael's your destination for all things birthday parties. I've learned something as a parent, which is that kids birthday parties now feel like a full scale event production. When I was growing up, you got a sheet cake, maybe a paper hat and some pizza. Somebody cried near a trampoline and we all went home happy. Now there are themes and balloon arches and custom cups and everybody's on Pinterest trying to make the best birthday party and Honestly, Michaels has made the whole thing so much easier. I didn't even realize that Michaels had this huge party section. They've got over 4,500 party supplies and more than 60 themes starting at 99 cents. So whether your kid wants bluey, soccer, rodeo, rainbow or something super specific they became obsessed with three days ago, they probably have it. And I already love Michaels, but I love that it's a one stop shop for birthday parties, balloons, decor, party supplies, little DIY touches. You don't have to run around town feeling frantic getting everything because you could just go to Michael's and they have it all. They also have same day delivery or buy online pickup in store, which is huge when you inevitably forget something at the last second. They offer free helium inflation for balloons on select styles, which saved me from having a complete breakdown in the parking lot. I genuinely don't think of Michaels as a party destination before this, but now I absolutely do. So visit Michaels in store or shop online now. Michael's Everything to celebrate Anything Spring always tricks me a little bit.
Every year I think I'm going to
become one of those people who hikes at sunrise, does a lot of outdoor activities, and then my calendar gets busier. I start leaving the house more and realize none of my clothes fit the life I'm pretending to have. Which is why I've been updating some of my basics lately with Mack Weldon. You know, I love my Mack Weldon. The weather is warming up, the heavy layers are gone. I want clothes that are comfortable enough to chase after a baby but still look put together if I have a meeting, dinner or have to record my podcast on camera. I'm especially a fan of their Ace collection. The sweatshirts and joggers are ridiculously comfortable. They don't look like you're running out of the house as a mess. They look like you got it all together and they're still really comfortable and cozy. Super rare quality where you feel like you're wearing loungewear but you still look presentable enough to run errands or meet up with a friend. And what I like about Mack Weldon in general is that the pieces are classic and versatile. Nothing flashy, just well made staples that look sharp, feel great and work for life. It's the kind of stuff you reach for over and over again because you realize you don't have to think about about it. M A C K W-E-L--O-N.com code iconic. Gold Belly has genuinely become one of my favorite gifts to send people. It feels way more personal than just sending someone something random they'll pretend to like. And especially for Father's Day, Gold Belly is the move. Now, Gold Belly ships the most iconic foods from the best restaurants across the country straight to your door for free. So you can literally send someone great barbecue from Texas, Deep dish pizza from Chicago, which you know I love. Giant New York pastrami sandwiches so much more, all without anybody getting on a plane or fighting through airport security carrying food. And I was skeptical because I thought, how, how can food be good when it's shipped like that? But honestly, the quality shocked me. I order for myself here at home, and I also order for gifts. I ordered a barbecue spread. We get the Joe's barbecue through Gold Belly for dinner.
It's so, so good.
And I really feel like it becomes a whole event because you start talking about the restaurants you love from around the country and everyone's gathered around, you feel like you're on Top Chef. Danny Pellegrino
And we're back. Okay, we're talking all things the valley with Janet and Jason. Where are you at with Kristen and Luke right now?
Janet
Not great. Okay, I'm.
Danny Pellegrino
What are we gonna do? I don't know because I love my Kristen. I love my Mariposa.
Janet
I, I, you know, Kristen and I had a really great friendship for many years, and I'm bummed that our, like, fallout and feud has lasted as long as it has. You know, I feel like she's kind of, especially this, this season, been relentless with me over, like, it's like, you know, I'm trying to apologize, I'm trying to move forward, and it feels like she's not there yet. And there's only so much you can do before you just have to be like, all right, she's stuck on this. I gotta just give it, give her her time. But I would like to see, you know, some progress in that friendship.
Danny Pellegrino
Hear me out, though. So the first two seasons, you had just had a baby. You were still breastfeeding and. And now Kristen had just had a baby. So, so perhaps maybe once you're both in a, in a different phase of your life where, where that sort of craziness where your life is turned upside down, maybe that you could come together
Janet
then definitely, no matter what, this season, seeing Kristen participate in everything to the best of her abilities with a three month old, I will have, like, the utmost respect for, like, when we've traveled and we're doing these trips and she's pushing a stroller through the train station carrying 40 bags with all the baby stuff and all this stuff. Like, even if I hated somebody, I couldn't watch that and be like, oh, I'm happy she's struggling.
Danny Pellegrino
That train ride, I got so mad because it felt like you and Zach made headway and it was, like, so fun to watch that. And I just, I wish Kristen in that moment, I know her and Nia were Kind of scoffing. And I was like, oh, I wish that could have been such a fun moment or even when you got stoned together, you know, I was like, it's fun. And yeah, but I also understand, I think like a three month old, I can't even imagine doing anything. We talked about this before but it's like doing anything with a three month old. So, yeah, my hope and dream is that you guys can become friends.
Janet
I hope and I hope we at least can have a real conversation about all the things that have happened, get everything off of our chest. You know, we have the reunion coming up, so I'm hoping that's a place, you know, where it's sort of like group therapy and we can talk it out and I hope we can get to a better place.
Danny Pellegrino
Do you think with the Dani and Nia of it all, she just genuinely maybe hasn't seen some of the things the other cast has seen or do you think there's some sort of, I think somebody said on the show, like a lion or something.
Janet
I have a hard time believing Kristen Detective Doty, you know, isn't on to them. Like, I think, I think she just sometimes she sort of picks people that, you know, she's decides are her best friends and she's going to defend them no matter what. I mean, like, you know, she's pointed out Brandon's red flags, Britney's, you know, boyfriend for five minutes but, you know, he's around for five minutes and she's like, red flag, red flag. Greg flat. I'm like, how do you not, you know, see this for the people that you're around often? So I do feel like she's a little bit turning a blind eye to them and I get it. I think it comes from a place of care and love. But I think it would also just be better if she just like admitted that they're like, that they have flaws too and that they make mistakes. It's, it's the constant like 100% defense of it that I think then makes people be like, well, hold on, like, how are you ignoring all of this though?
Jason
It's also hard to know what's going on behind closed doors because I think the Kristen is like Kristen and Luke both are like true ride or dies for the people who.
Danny Pellegrino
Which is a good quality in a friendship, I think. And sometimes, yeah, I mean, of course
Jason
that can turn into like enabling if you're not, you know, you're not being a friend. At a certain point though, with that said, maybe behind the scenes they're saying, you know, you shouldn't do this, you shouldn't do that.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Telling them behind closed doors the same
Jason
way because they really seem to look up to that, you know, quality that. That thing, characteristic that Danny and Nia do where, like, you just handle it behind closed doors or something. So maybe that's what they're also doing because they really value that a lot.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
And, yeah, I mean, it is. I would say I would much rather have them on our side than against us.
Danny Pellegrino
Be easier. Yeah.
Janet
Yeah. Like she said, like, the bulldog this episode. She's like, everybody wants the bulldog until they're. It's like, not on their side. I'm like, that is true.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. It's hard to. I mean, because I love Kristen, but it is. Yeah. It's hard to watch the. With Danny and Nia, at least as an audience, it feels so clear that, you know, even with the sneaking of the alcohol and my sort of take as an audience is like, the cast is all sort of saying the same thing about them. I mean, pretty much universally. Even the ones who. Even someone like Zach or who's maybe closer to Danny and Mia, it seems like they're all kind of telling us these things. And so I always think that must mean it's worse behind the scenes. And then almost production is trying to keep up by, like, showing these moments of, like, sneaking the alcohol or whatever. And I almost feel like that's production's way of being like, yeah, the cast all sees it, and maybe there's other stuff behind the scenes, and maybe that's a wrong take. Is. Is that a wrong take?
Janet
I just feel like if, you know, if Neo every once in a while would just be like, my husband's driving me nuts. We would be like, oh, okay, so you get it. I get it. We all, like. We all have moments where our spouses are driving us nuts. Like, that's life. And I think the constant defense of it is what makes us kind of be like, well, hold. Like, it makes people want to pick at it more.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Janet
And if you. I think if she and Kristen just said, like, yeah, he's being really annoying tonight, we'd be like, all right, cool. So you see it. We don't have to say anything.
Danny Pellegrino
And part of me sort of understands, like, the. If he's on this TV show and everybody's saying, like, you. You need to stop drinking. It's like, I almost kind of get him not wanting to drink on camera, but then it does make it look way worse.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
You know, when the camera's still picking you up. You know, sneaking in Zach's apartment, whatever.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
Taking drinks.
Janet
I wish he would just pick Elaine. Either be like, I, you know, there's nothing going on here. I'm going to drink or I'm not going to. But the. Yeah, the sneaking kind of begs for more questions.
Danny Pellegrino
And it's hard to watch Nia. Like, every scene she has with just him seems like such a nightmare. Seems like, you know, we joke on here. It's like she's got five under five' five. It's like she's got the four kids and him, and it's, like, exhausting for her. Well, it's like every single scene, even on their date scenes, she just seems like, ugh, I gotta deal with this guy again. No one should have that life. But then also it's like, well, you know, I understand she chose it and maybe it's better than what we're just seeing.
Jason
But, I mean, it's a reality show and I think there are probably a lot of viewers at home who can relate to everybody's family in heaven, you know, so maybe they'll see a little bit of themselves in every relationship on the show.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. Yeah. I hope they don't see themselves in Danny and Nia because it's hard. And I know they have all those kids. Must be exhausting.
Janet
I can't imagine. I mean, one keeps us busy and we have. My mom lives with us. We have help. Like, you know, we get time to ourselves. But four, I truly. I don't know how anybody does it.
Danny Pellegrino
What's the drive to their house in Santa Clarita? Is it an hour?
Janet
It depends. With at like, 4, they say, like,
Jason
we haven't been to their house.
Janet
No, but we have other friends who live in Santa Clarita that we see, you know, pretty often. And if at like 4 in the morning, that's when, like, I think Danny said, it takes 20 minutes. Minutes at, like 4 in the morning when there's no cars on the road. Sure. Otherwise, if you get stuck in, like, traffic at all, it can be like an hour or more.
Jason
Yeah, but you wouldn't. So I'm a proponent of Santa Clarita. The whole area. I actually like that area. And I think that people on the cast sort of, like, give it a bad name. It is like 30 minutes. Like, that's not so bad. Right? Like, you. You pay, you go 30 minutes. And for this, for the same amount of money as in the Valley, you can get, like, a house twice the size, pretty much So I don't think.
Danny Pellegrino
I think Santa Clarita has a marketing issue because the only time we're there on the show is with Danny and Nia. And so it's like, we going to that house feels like such a heavy cloud to me watching. I'm like, oh, we're going to Santa Clarita. And it's not so much that I don't like Santa Clarita, it's just like going to that house specifically and seeing them bicker and stuff and like, ugh. And then the baby's crying and everything and I get it.
But it's.
Jason
Santa Clarita has two, like, media portrayals. It's, you know, sneakin drinks and it's zombies.
Danny Pellegrino
Wasn't that the Drew Barrymore Santa Cruz and Timothy Olfons? Oh, my gosh. Yeah. Every time they show, like the skyline of their. Of their house neighborhood, I'm like, oh, I don't want to go here. I don't want to go here right now.
Jason
There's some beautiful neighborhoods.
Janet
Yeah, their house is beautiful and their schools are tasty. We haven't been, but we have looked at houses out there, so.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, my God. You guys being neighbors with Danny. Wait, so is there any hope for. How are you guys with Danny? Is there any hope or is that done?
Janet
I think they blocked us after the last reunion, and any time that we've interacted with them has been. You've seen it.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay, wait.
When I did the valley panel at BravoCon, it sort of felt to me like they were separate from everyone. Was that a wrong take?
Janet
I think, you know, when they have. They have four kids, so I feel like they just have less availability to, like, hang out. And once they moved to Santa Clarita, that put like a physical, you know, barrier on being able to like, like, Brittany lives like two streets away from us, so there's times where she's like, one of us will be like, hey, I'm cooking this for dinner. Do you want to.
Danny Pellegrino
I'm making a crab boil. Come on over.
Janet
Yeah, like, so there's. It's easy where it's accessible, like, we can see each other without making plans. I think once they moved out there and then having, you know, four kids and not like, I don't know how they do it without like a live in nanny or like, you know, really like a ton of hours with help. So I think that they are a little bit disconnected from the group, but it's because they're busy and live far away.
Danny Pellegrino
Are you good with Zach now?
Janet
We're.
Danny Pellegrino
What's happening with Zach, I would say.
Okay.
Janet
It. It was really a roller coaster this season, and I felt like just going back and forth constantly. But we did have a nice little interaction the other day. I saw somebody on TikTok 3D, printed, like, a wig, and it looked like his Lego hair, and so I tagged him in it. We had a nice little friendly exchange. So I was like, hey, I'll take this. Like, this is a nice little back and forth we had. I think he said something like, well, maybe I will let you, like, be my bestie. Or, like, maybe I will let you buy my friendship. And I was like, one Lego wig at a time. We can get there.
Jason
So I feel like they're about, like, one West Hollywood pub crawl.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. You just seen One Night out. One night out of drinking. And. And you. And you and Zach. I love having Zach on the show because unfortunately, Bravo doesn't have a ton of gay representation. Southern hospitality actually does a really great job. It's so good, right?
Yeah.
I think they had just, like, a breakout season this year, but I love that show, and so I. I don't know. I'm always so invested, like, with Zach and Jasmine. I, like, I'm so happy that they're on the show and that we get to see their relationships, and I hope. I hope we get to see more of it.
Janet
Me too. We're going to Jasmine's wedding this weekend.
Danny Pellegrino
So you guys are going?
Janet
Yeah, we're really excited. I've always said, Jasmine, is everyone going? Almost everybody. There's. I think everyone would be going. Some people had, like, commitments and things they couldn't get out of, but a majority of the cast is going. And I've always said, Jasmine, Melissa have always been, like, the ultimate couple goals for me. Like, they are so cute together, and they, like, do all this cute all the time. Like, they'll go to, like, like, olive oil making classes and like, like, Color Me Mine and all this stuff. And I'm like, you guys are so cute. Like, they really keep their spark alive, and they're so kind and loving and respectful to each other all the time. I, you know, I wish Melissa participated more. She has, like, a very solid career.
Danny Pellegrino
So what does she do?
Janet
Or I. She, you know, what? She does something with tech and sales.
Danny Pellegrino
She's smart.
Janet
She's very smart. Very, very successful in her own right. So I think she. She, you know, tips toes on the show because she's, you know, wants to. She works full time. So a lot of the times on Trips and stuff. It's like she and Jason are the ones that like are busting out their laptops and. Yeah. Working in between stuff. But they have such an amazing relationship and I wish we saw more of it because they have like, honestly, I think the healthiest relationship of any of the couples on our show.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Janet
Including us.
Danny Pellegrino
Are you guys.
Will the wedding. Will we see the wedding?
Janet
I don't.
Danny Pellegrino
We don't know.
Janet
Think so. I don't think.
Jason
I think my stories.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay. We'll see it on your stories. Wait, so Jason. Janet, you just mentioned Jason sort of working on these trips. What do you. Are you're an attorney?
Jason
Yes, I'm an attorney. Okay.
Danny Pellegrino
And so you. Are you still. How does that work? I sound so dumb now. That works. Do you go to an office or you.
Jason
So we. We used to have office space but over the pandemic, you know, we weren't using it obviously, so we subleted and then we just ended up going full remote. It used to be with law firms that you needed like a nice brick and mortar to attract associates, but now people actually like working remotely for the most part. So yeah, we've just stayed remot remote. So I work from home. I work a full time job. And so how do you.
Danny Pellegrino
How it must be difficult to do both.
Jason
You know, I may get. I may get some hate from other people on Bravo shows, but it's really not that much work.
Janet
Yeah.
Jason
Like so the people, you know who do Bravo shows and don't have other jobs are really not doing much.
Danny Pellegrino
You know, I've always heard Andy say. Andy always says keep your jobs. Like if you have the job before, like keep it. Don't sort of just go. He always says that. He's like, don't go all in. Like just keep your other job. And I also think it's better for the shows too because we get to see, you know, some other sides of.
Of people.
Janet
Yeah. So also make up for time. Like if you, you know, are doing something in the afternoon, like with the guys or something, sometimes you'll work like in the evenings, which you have the flexibility to. I think it depends too on like if you have like a 40 hour week where you have to be there 8 to 5, I could see how it would be more difficult. But you have a little bit more flexible.
Danny Pellegrino
What kind of law is it or
Jason
what I do worker's compensation defense side. So I represent. Employ. I've gotten hate from online about. But I will just say that basically when you file workers compensation claim, this is A state where it's the most liberal state in the country when it comes to workers compensation claims. All I'm looking at this is, okay, you have an injury, so we need to get this person benefits. We need to get them back to work. Like, I'm not trying to withhold benefits from everyone. I look at everyone who got hurt as if my mom got hurt on the job, like, which she has. I have a workers compensation claim for my knee injury, you know, and I've gotten excellent treatment. I've gotten taken care of great. I mean, it's. It's not.
Danny Pellegrino
Not.
Jason
I think people see it as like, this. This thing where I'm like this evil person who's like, making that. Sure, when people get. When people get injured on the job that they're like, homeless or something, but it's absolutely the opposite.
Danny Pellegrino
But people. I mean, also the audience is always going to find something if they want to. You know, like, if.
Jason
Yeah, basically I mitigate damage. So, like, if. When people get hurt on the job and they hire an attorney, that's when they bring me in. If they don't hire an attorney, they. I usually don't work on the case at all. So they. If, if it was up to their attorney, they would stay off work indefinitely and collect benefits. So I want to get these people back to work, and I want them to get treated as well as they can. That's pretty much what my job is, is to get them treatment and get them back to work. And it's a job where I work probably about 40 to 60 hours a week. But if we're filming, I will tell, you know, production, like, I'm not available on certain times. Same way I would with. If I was planning, with friends to go get coffee or something, and then I just go. And then on those days, maybe I'll work a little way.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. Does anyone in your work life, do they ever recognize you? Do they ask you to tell them about the valley or, like, ask you what's going on?
Jason
Yeah, whenever I go to, like, networking events, I am definitely a little more popular now than I was before.
Danny Pellegrino
That's so funny. Okay, so do you think, going back to my question, do you think Jax will ever return? Would you want to see him return or no?
Janet
I don't think so. Yeah, I mean, I think he would. He has a lot more work to do. You know, I hear from Brittany about their co parenting relationship, and he still gives her a very hard time with a lot of. Of stuff. So I would love.
Danny Pellegrino
What's that about? Like, leave her alone.
Janet
I think just, you know, it's, like, hard to change when you're in your mid-40s and you've been, you know, being a dick your whole life. Like, so I think I. I would love nothing more than for Jax to make some great changes, treat Britney with kindness and respect as a co parent, you know, do everything that. That he needs to do and. And to be, like. To show up in a better way for her and for Cruz. And if he did that, great, like. Like, you know, sure, come on back. But until he's willing to make, like, real changes and treat Britney with respect, I don't want to see him talking down to her anymore.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
Yeah. I think there are two things. I think one, having a platforming and being on television is a privilege and not a right. But at the same time, I think that there are audience members who have been watching his life for the past 15 years or so and would like to keep seeing what he's up to. So I would love it if he can get to a place where. And I think that Britney would be the ultimate decider, essentially, we'll get to a place where she feels as though he has earned the right to have a platform and be on TV again.
Danny Pellegrino
I find it fun to watch Britney without Jax because we've never seen it before. So I'm enjoying just seeing even, like, what a little bit more of, like, what kind of person she is, what she wants, what she's doing.
I don't know.
I. I've been really liking seeing her.
Janet
Britney's one of the funniest people I know, and I feel like we're starting to see that. I mean, right now she's, you know, just been like. Like taking.
Danny Pellegrino
Not my ball sacks.
Janet
Yeah. She's, like, taken apart and put back
Jason
together, plotting to take her down for some reason. I don't know what that's all about.
Danny Pellegrino
Wait, who's.
I know. What is that?
Oh, you're right.
I know that this week it's crazy.
Jason
I was on the show, I'm on the show, and I don't know what the hell that scene was.
Danny Pellegrino
I felt like that was like a effort of Jesse just being like, I'm gonna be the villain and, like, I'm gonna lean in and we're gonna go after someone. Let's make it Britney.
Janet
And, like, Britney's, like, the most harmless of everybody. And she's honestly like, okay, well, wait, this is funny.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay, I have to stop you, because the big thing is that we all see as an Audience member or sometimes question as an audience is like, maybe Britney is actually more maybe because of maybe the accent and because of like, her smiling all the time on camera and stuff like that. Maybe she is more calculated than we. We know.
Jason
No, absolutely.
Janet
Truly. No. I, like, I think the thing that people are pointing out this season is like, in San Diego, she told, like, Lacy, like, well, you guys should talk sometime. And then they started fighting. And then she kind of was like, all right, maybe you shouldn't talk. And people are like, oh, Britney got him going and then abandoned ship. And it was like she had no. She did not realize that that was going to take the turn.
Danny Pellegrino
It did.
Janet
Her thing was like, you guys are still upset about this, you know, threatening of this lawsuit thing. You guys should talk that out. I think if she knew that there was more boiling under the surface, she wouldn't have encouraged them to talk.
Jason
No, she still would have because she meant, like, obviously she meant like, get coffee. Yeah. Like, let's have a drunken, like, brawl.
Janet
Yeah. Scream and match in the kitchen.
Jason
That'll help you, like with the kids and everything. Yeah, Drunken brawl right now.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Janet
But I think Britney, she really. I think nothing more than everyone to get along, which would probably make for a very boring show, but she genuinely has deep relationships with everybody. She is a lot of the glue that holds this group together and calculated. She, like, she has no desire to, like, make us all fight more. Like, that would be her. That's actually her biggest nightmare.
Danny Pellegrino
I would say when I finally met her, that was the first time where I was like, maybe she's not calculated. Yeah. You know, but it was frustrating to watch that meet that you mentioned, where these guys, they were getting together and saying about Britney and they kept saying like, well, Britney gets this drunk and Zach gets this drunk or whatever. And I was getting so frustrated and Danny and Nia had talked about that as well, and it's like, yeah, but you're not. They're not making everybody uncomfortable. Like, that's the difference is like, yeah, they might be drunk being a dumbass, but they're not, like, making everybody uncomfortable. Like, that's the big difference.
Janet
Yeah.
Jason
I think that you're a person who has a brain that works pretty well. And I think that you can see through of total bs, like, assertions.
Danny Pellegrino
So what do you.
Where.
Where are you at with Luke? Because, Jason, I feel like you and Luke sometimes I'll see you when you enter scene or when you go to someone's house or whatever and you say hello. It. It's Like, I. It seems like there was maybe a relation, a stronger relationship at one point. Where are you and Luke at now?
Jason
I mean, it's tough to really be buddies when our wives are at each other's throats, right? So I don't have a ton of beef with Luke, though. I didn't really like the way he was talking to my wife on this most recent episode of the Valley because I wasn't there when it happened. Happened. So I didn't appreciate him, like, raising in the kitchen. In the kitchen.
Danny Pellegrino
In the kitchen at Schwartz's house and
Jason
making some argument that makes no sense, like, because the logic is. Just isn't really there for what they're saying for On a lot of stuff, but whatever.
Danny Pellegrino
So you didn't know that happened until watching it?
Jason
I didn't know that, no. I knew that he had said something when she got home, but I didn't know how that went or what. Or anything like that. But that said, you know, he's. We have some things in common. We both like golf. We both like just sports in general.
Danny Pellegrino
Like, men are so easy. It's like, I know golf.
Janet
You put them in a room and
Danny Pellegrino
they play golf course and they're fine.
Jason
Like, he's in Indiana fans. So they won the national title. I was like, congratulations. You know, like, we. We text every once in a while. But yeah, when our wives just really despise each other, it's not easy for us to be buds.
Danny Pellegrino
Jason, I think you do a good job of defending Janet, you know, on the show. Like, I always think, like, I'd. That's how I'd want my husband to, like, you know, but I wonder, has there ever been a time where you've. Have either of you on either end, like, have you maybe defended each other on the show and then, like, got home and been like, actually, you were kind of wrong?
Jason
Absolutely.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. Yeah.
Jason
Pretty much all the things that Janet or I have done that people disagree with, the other ones said probably shouldn't have handled it.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, interesting.
Janet
We talk it out. I feel like, like, that's actually one of the most beautiful things about being on the show is, like, we have more in depth conversations about our interpersonal lives than we ever have before. And because it's, you know, part of our, like, life and career now, it's, like, important to talk about all of the little things. But, yeah, I think we both. And not just behind closed doors. I think we've had moments where, you know, you'll see us say to each other, like, you had me until this, like. And then you lost me, like, once you got here. And. And, you know, we're always, I think, trying to help be. Help each other be better versions of ourselves. So if something was going really well until it wasn't, we're like, that's when it. That's when it took a turn.
Danny Pellegrino
Right.
Jason
And, like, for me, I've always, my entire life, been a very, like, long fused, like, not really very emotional person. Something about. And Dan, you probably can speak to this also something about having your first kid. It just, like, opens you up emotionally.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
So sometimes I find myself, like, enraged or, like, not with Janet, but, like, you know, stuff that you've seen on camera and after the fact, I'm like, whoa, what the heck was that? You know, Then it'll be like, oh, yeah, you kind of went a little far there.
Danny Pellegrino
But you do.
Yeah, you do have. You know, I felt that way. Even with your injury on the show. You got really emotional, and I totally got it, because I feel like my husband. Our son's. A year just turned a year, and especially my husband is. He's like, always throwing him up. And, like, they have that. That's part of their bond. It's not their whole bond, but it's a very strong part of it is throwing him up in the air, rest, you know, kind of whatever. And I was thinking, yeah, that would be hard if all of a sudden you couldn't do that. And then also, I had to take on. You know, we split the responsibilities here. So it's like, then I would have to take on everything. Cause he's recovering. And so I totally got that immediately, like, you caught emotion. I was like. I was crying, too. I'm like, I can imagine that that would be hard. And I know some other people might be watching and be like, why is he so upset about that? It's like, well, I think when you have a new child, especially a. When you're someone who connects kind of physically, you know.
Jason
Well, at the time, he was one and a half. So that's really the only way we can connect. Because we couldn't talk. Couldn't really talk to him yet. And even, you know, people will say, why don't you draw color read to him? It's like, great. Except for that he'll then run away.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, you can't. Exactly. Yeah. They don't sit still. They don't sit still. It's like they're running around.
Jason
He runs away. I can't chase him. So I was. I was not ever able to watch him by myself. Yeah, because once he started moving, because like that was one and a half is the age where he's running around getting into everything. So if you put me and him in a room, he's just gonna like be climbing the shelves and somebody always
Danny Pellegrino
has to be chasing them. So if one parent can't, that means the other parent's gonna have to be the one constantly running around the house chasing them.
Janet
Right.
Danny Pellegrino

And we're back. Schwartz and Lala on this show. I'm liking him this season more than I thought I would. I was very skeptical about it. How are you feeling it?
Janet
I'm loving it. Lala is one of my best friends. Schwartz is. We're very close to Schwartz. I love his girlfriend. We've gotten very close. I, you know, as a, as a fan and watching, I'm like so thrilled that they're both on. I think they bring something beautiful to Our cast that we didn't have before. And I think part of the reason the Valley works so well is it is following our real, authentic friendships. And Law and Schwartz are people that are around on and off camera constantly. So. So having them around on camera just makes sense to me.
Jason
And I just think. I think Lala is, like, so good at this reality TV thing. Like, so when I'm watching her scenes and somebody will say something and she'll say, like, exactly what I'm thinking or, like, what I would want her to say in the moment, and she's just, like, on it. She's quick. And Schwartz is the great guy, you know, I wish that sometimes he would maybe speak up a little more in certain scenarios, but, you know, he just has, like, such a. He doesn't want to, like, ever let anyone down.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
You know, even he was on Watch what Happens Live recently, and they were asked, like, something about me or Danny and he did some, like, middle of the road answer and then he, like, immediately texted me after, like, oh, sorry, man. Like, it's okay.
Danny Pellegrino
Like, he just. He's a Libra, I think, right? Yeah.
Jason
The day after mine.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
Or no, his birthday is the day before mine.
Danny Pellegrino
What's your birthday?
Jason
October 15th.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay. Yeah, I'm October 9th. I'm a Libra too. So what about. Okay, so they join the cast. And I remember this came up at BravoCon, and I. I honestly don't remember what the answer was, but Sheena. What was the thing that Sheena didn't join for? Like, why wasn't she.
Janet
I think that she was just at a place in her life where it was just, like, she didn't want to. I think she considered it for a while, but she had just, you know, come out about Brock's affair in her book.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Janet
They were still kind of dealing with the aftermath of that. And I think. I think Sheena just needed a break. Like, I think that she has been doing it so long, she was just like. Like, I, like, need to take a step back and, like, really, like, concentrate on my real life right now and make sure that my marriage is healthy, everything's good. Before, like, throwing cameras back into it would do you.
Danny Pellegrino
So you think it was her choice not to.
Janet
I think so. I mean, I don't know what happens in.
Jason
I think it was confirmed it was her choice not to do it.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, I thought so, too.
Jason
Alex confirmed that, I think.
Janet
Okay.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, Yeah. I remember I asked it at Bravo Con. Everyone kind of got weird, but then I know they addressed it somewhere, but I remember it being like everybody was, like, afraid of what to say.
Janet
And I was like, well, where. It's like, I need to know when, though. It's like, if. Or. And if we didn't. I don't think we knew at that time. I don't even know if she'd actually made this decision fully at that time, but. So it was sort of like, I don't know what's gonna happen.
Danny Pellegrino
So would she. Do you think? Would you like to see her join?
Janet
I would love to. She knows one of my best friends
Danny Pellegrino
are all close with her.
Janet
I know in real life we're like family, so any. And I think that she's an authentic person of, you know, the friend group. I think she's kept her distance a little bit because, you know, she and Lala had this falling out that has been difficult for both of them. But I think, you know, I think it would make sense if she was around.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
How about.
How are things? How do you feel about Brock after that revelation in the book?
Janet
I was very disappointed when I found out, but I think that since then, Brock has been a really great husband and father. I think I'm glad that he told her. You know, he did. He didn't wait for something to come out or, you know, feel pressure to tell her. He told her on his own because he was. Everything was. Scandal was happening and he was feeling guilty. But they've. I know that they've been in therapy and worked through a lot of stuff, and they seem really great now.
Danny Pellegrino
Is there ever concern.
I've talked about this on the podcast before with straight men on Bravo, because the audience is all women and gay men. I mean, I know they're straight men, too, but for the most part. And then I think, like, oftentimes there will be people that throw themselves at the straight male cast members, whereas the women on these shows don't get that. Because it's not like you have a. You might have a straight guy or two, maybe probably almost never. Yeah, exactly. But is that a thing? Jason, do you get, like, DMs from people or Janet also?
Do you worry about that?
Because it's in the past we've had these cheating scandals, and I think my take on it has always been, well, there's so much extra temptation, and then when you add in somebody becoming a DJ and traveling or those kinds of things, they have even more women throwing them.
Jason
I don't think that my.
Danny Pellegrino
And making the men making bad decisions. I want to point out it's not the women.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay.
Jason
I don't think that my fame has increased enough to, like, make me more sought after than I was before being on tv necessarily. I don't think it is an effective.
Janet
Jason's like, I've always been hot, so
Jason
it's like, like, first of all, I work from home. I don't really do much. But no, it's.
Janet
I trust in a thou. I trust him a thousand percent. And he has gotten a couple, like, flirty dms. But he'll, like, we'll be like, oh, my gosh, look at this.
Jason
Like, I show off to Jen, like, hey, look, look. What? You better treat me right.
Janet
And I love it. I think it's like, whenever anybody, like, if I post, like, I will, like, post, like, a shirtless picture of Jason. Like, if I can get him when he's not paying attention, because he. Or if he. He's like, most of the time, I'll be like, delete that right now. I'm like, okay, well, at least I gave fans something they want for three minutes.
Danny Pellegrino
I know.
Jason, take off your blouse and let Janet take a photo for us.
Jason
I joked about the fame thing, but, like, if I am known by anybody, it's like, I'm known for being married to Janet. So, like, any woman who doesn't stop, some women who knows that it's like, it's not, like, doesn't seem like a super cool girl.
Danny Pellegrino
We talked about some of the people from the greater Vanderpump universe. I know you're really close with Ariana. Have you ever tried to get her to make an appearance on the Valley? I know, know. I don't think she would join maybe full time or anything, but I have
Janet
invited her to anything. I would, you know, whether it was filmed or not. She almost came to my Dave and Buster's birthday, but I think she was out of town. So I think she would, like, if it was something that she would go to normally, I think that she would come. So I'll keep inviting her to my birthday parties and we'll see. But she almost came to the Dave and Busters one, and I forget why she couldn't. It was like, probably because she's booked, busy, and out of town, but I think that she would if it was. I don't think she would necessarily, like, put a mic on and jump in the drama, but I think she would show up to stuff that she would. In quote, unquote, real life.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, yeah. I'd love to see her just pop in because I know, and I know she's Friends with a lot of you still.
Janet
And Jason and Dan have made a really great friendship, and they keep in touch a lot.
Jason
So they're pretty bi Coastal now. So when he's in town, we'll go to the gym together.
Janet
Yeah, they're gym bros. Oh, nice.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Yeah. He's a big.
He's a big fitness guy.
Janet
Yeah.
Danny Pellegrino
Is there anything from this current season that you want to either clarify or anything. Any regrets you have? Anything that you want to clear up?
Janet
I don't think so. You know, I. I try to, like, you know, I think this is cheesy, but, like, live without regrets. But, like, anything that I've said or done that I feel like is a mistake, I feel like is an opportunity to, like, learn from something and apologize, be better. So I don't know if there's anything I would, like, take back or change because it's led me to where I am right now. I feel pretty good, like, going into the reunion, I feel like, you know, there's There. There actually can be amends made here. So I don't think I have any big regrets.
Danny Pellegrino
Jason, how about you? Is there anything you want to clarify from the season or anything?
Jason
I think that, for the most part, editing, like, you know, they edit stuff, but I think they kind of give a good picture of what actually is going on, with the exception of that basketball scene because I was making some shots.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, okay.
Jason
Yeah, they were making it. Like, I was just bricking everything. There's a reason you didn't really see me breaking a lot of shots. He saw other guys doing it. They were just.
Danny Pellegrino
Because you were pretty good.
Jason
Yeah, that was left on the cutting room.
Danny Pellegrino
That would be the thing out of anything. Like, I would probably have fights with people or whatever, but, like, that would be the thing that would annoy me the most. I'd be like, you missed the. You didn't show when I made it.
Jason
Well, season one, they had me playing hockey, which I had, like, I've played hockey, like, once in my life before that, you know, So I was terrible. I can. I can't. Can't even really skate. What did I do Season two? Did I play any sports? Season two?
Janet
There was. Oh, we, like, played cornhole in the backyard. I don't know if they showed. There was, like, some other little sports things.
Danny Pellegrino
I feel like you're like, I swear I'm athletic.
Janet
Jason would come home and be like, and no one is going to think I'm athletic because all the stuff they're having us do is also stuff I'VE never done before. I'm going to look so bad.
Jason
This is finally basketball. To be fair, I didn't play basketball in, like, a decade, but, you know, once you play, I'd played my whole life growing up, and I'm like, this is where I can finally show off a little rupture. My patellar tendon. When I just try to jump, it's like, oh, my God.
Danny Pellegrino
How was it? How. How has it healed now?
Jason
So I'm about eight months post op. Um, so my. It's 99% of my life is back to normal, but it's still probably only about 70% the strength of my good leg. So I'm still working on that, but that's just time.
Danny Pellegrino
And looking back now, do you feel like it was as kind of bad as you thought it'd be in terms of, like, what you were upset about on the show and, like, your son Cameron?
Jason
I. I was thinking worst case scenario at the time, and it was not as bad. Like, it was. It was rough. Like, we definitely had a couple. A couple rough months, but it was literally, like, probably eight weeks. Yeah, seven. Eight weeks of. Of difficulty. I think when we. When we saw you at BravoCon, that was about six weeks post op.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
You were still on crutches then?
Jason
Yeah, I had just gotten on crutches at that point.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay.
Jason
And then two weeks later, I was off crutches. So it's, you know, it's. It. It wasn't as bad. In my mind, I was thinking it was gonna make five months of that. It was really like less than two months.
Janet
Mm.
Jason
Um, but it's still been tough. Like, even now. Like, I. I can't. I'm not really running yet. Um, not that I was running all the time before, but I. I can't really do, like, super heavy squats. Only, like, moderately heavy squats.
Janet
There's only been a couple times, but we went to, like, the Griffith Observatory with Cameron, and there's. It's, you know, big open space out front and. And I was, like, pushing a stroller and holding something and doing something, and Cameron took off. And I remember looking at Jason being like, you gotta run. Like, you have to. And he, like, you ran after him and you got him, but it was like, I was like, now do we have to go to the hospital? Are you okay? Like, I wanted to make sure it didn't re. Tear stuff, but we've had a couple times where he's had to, like, test out the ability to chase after Cameron, but luckily it's been okay.
Jason
The mental issue has been the just my own mortality feeling it. It's been like, one of the toughest parts.
Danny Pellegrino
I mean, I think we're all around the same age.
Janet
And.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah, I just had a physical recently, and my doctor was telling me I gotta slow down on the sprints. And I was, like, thinking, like, why? And he was basically just like, you're old now. Yeah. Yeah. You gotta be careful.
Jason
While we're actually talking about we're all about the same age right now, I would like to clarify to think Janet would something for the Internet.
Janet
Oh, they say I'm 40 years old. I'm 36. They've aged me. I think page six posted my age wrong. And then I don't know why they post.
Danny Pellegrino
I don't know why these outlets post the age. Because they're often wrong.
Janet
Yeah. And then once one person posts the age wrong, then every other person uses that as the example. So I was born in 1989.
Jason
I'm 36 years old, and for me, I am not five foot two and a half.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, my gosh. Does the Internet say that, too? Yeah.
You're tall. Because I'm six.
Three, two. We're the same height. Yeah.
Jason
No, I'm six foot three. So, yeah. Because if I'm five foot two and a half, then our show is basically little people, small world.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. Yeah. I feel like you guys. Well, not. I was going to say you have tall cast, but not all of you.
Jason
Oh, wait. Little people, big world.
Janet
I don't know. The show.
Danny Pellegrino
The TLC show is up here. Yeah. Okay. So Kristen had said in an interview, I think it was Entertainment tonight, but forgive me if I'm wrong, but she said there's a. In the finale, maybe someone throws a drink or something. What? Can you tease about the rest of the season and who throws the drink?
Janet
I don't know if I can say who throws the drink, but I'm sure it was with great intention.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay, so maybe it was one of you, too.
Janet
And was it you? The rest of season is, like, up and down, and I feel like we. I feel like by the finale, everybody kind of said what they needed to say, and we got a lot off our chests. That will give us some good content for the reunion.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay.
Jason
Yeah. I spent a lot of the next half of the season in bed, to be honest with you.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
Jason
Spoiler alert for me.
Danny Pellegrino
I felt bad when you had to go to Schwartz and everybody had. And you and Brittany had to watch walk up those stairs.
Janet
Yeah. Like four flights of stairs.
Danny Pellegrino
That is so mean.
Janet
The whole time we were at Schwartz's, I was like, you better be very careful at your age because all these flights of stairs, you're, you're stuck. If you get hurt like Jason did,
Jason
it was nice to get out of the house because I was about one week post op at that point, but every second I'm just thinking, if somebody bumps into me and I rupture this tendon again and have to go through surgery again, I am going to be,
Janet
oh, I'd kill him too.
Danny Pellegrino
Wait, so who do you throw a drink at? I don't know that you did that, but I'm, I'm trying to bait you.
Jason
Who says anyone throws a drink?
Janet
Yeah, I thought she said that Kristen should be careful.
Danny Pellegrino
I mean, I must have heard. I heard that. I must have heard that. I know. I heard it because it was, it showed up on my TikTok and I was like, I have to ask about that.
Janet
Kirsten's in trouble.
Danny Pellegrino
It came up. I know the Bravo, Bravo PR is looking at me right now. Stop talking. Danny. I think somebody. Okay, so you did it. I'm guessing.
Janet
I don't know. I don't know.
Danny Pellegrino
I'm trying. I'm trying hard. We don't have any answers, but tune
Janet
in and find out.
Danny Pellegrino
We're going to tune in. And I actually found, you know what, so this is actually a me issue, is that the whole, the first half of the season I thought was so heavy and dark, like, and I, it felt like heavy. And then the summer house stuff was going on and that felt so heavy. And by the time I got through part three of the Summer House reunion, I was like, I need a. I need a light catch up show. And then it was like I put on the Valley and I was like, this feels so nice.
Janet
It is.
Danny Pellegrino
It felt so light to me after the Summer House reunion. And the first half I thought was just too heavy. Heavy. And then I'm like, now I love you guys.
Janet
I do feel like we, like, especially, like in the trip to Mexico and stuff, there were a lot of laughs. So it's always, you know, there's always still going to be drama and stuff, but I do feel like you'll see a lot of, like, very beautiful, like, female friendships and us, like, goofing off together in a fun way. So I hope you get to see that.
Danny Pellegrino
I just want you and Kristen to come together.
That's.
And, and you and Zach too, which I, it seems like maybe that's on the road to recovery, but. But I would Just love to. I would love to see actually the whole cast. There at least be moments where all of you collectively, where there's no one kind of on the Outcast, I think would be really fun and doesn't have to last forever, but it'd be nice maybe.
Janet
I think the reunion's the opportunity for that. So fingers crossed.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah.
What is your.
Do you have a number one question for the reunion that you want?
Janet
I don't know. Yeah, I'm trying to think. I just want everybody to come in and be honest and like, like be able to talk about everything openly and just. I like, I feel like also because we didn't have a reunion season one, there was so much stuff that just lingered on and on, and I want to just like get it over with. Like, let's talk about everything. Let's rip the band aid off. Let's have tough conversations so we can actually move forward.
Jason
And I'm curious to see everyone's strategies in the reunion because I think that certain people had certain strategies that are shown, like on the after show, for example, before audience reaction.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. And I feel like I've been watching the after show and I'm like, Nia's giving different answers on the after show than she is in interviews.
Jason
Yeah. Because audience reaction could play a role. So it's like you obviously, if the whole world disagrees with your strategy, you know, before they saw it, and now you know that you're gonna probably go back to the drawing board. So I'm, I'm, as an audience member, as a viewer, I'm gonna be sitting there looking as a fan.
Danny Pellegrino
Jana, I like that you're leaning into the fan.
Janet
I mean, because I've been a Bravo fan.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. And also. Yeah. I can't speak to that because I'm a biggest Bravo fan. Yeah. But I think from Ohio, it's like,
Janet
what else do you do but watch Bravo?
Danny Pellegrino
Watching Bravo, we got the Bravo channel. I know you're on my Ohio sister. So, you know, I, I often, I'm like, I gotta have Jan's back. She's my Ohio sister. But that's why I need you. And because I love Kristen too, and that's why I need the two of you to.
Janet
I'm here to bridge the gap, to find a way.
Jason
Before we go off, I just want to say the first time I met Danny was at your one man show in Hollywood. I think it was in.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, my God. Yeah, yeah. Wait, when that was? Yeah, that was, I think.
Janet
What, 2021, 2022.
Jason
Restrictions for pandemic Lifted.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, yeah.
One of my early. Yeah, Every live shows. Yeah, that's right.
Jason
And you go through, like, your fandom of growing up in Ohio and all that. And if anyone has.
Danny Pellegrino
Do you still do that? I haven't in a while, no. With the baby, I haven't. But hopefully I'm planning to tour early next year.
Jason
If you do that again, I would say everybody out there should go see it.
Danny Pellegrino
Thank you.
Jason
It's brilliant.
Danny Pellegrino
Yeah. You guys were there with Ariana, and Ariana and Tom, I think, were guests too.
Janet
We were trying to figure out. We're like, did we go just the two of us for a date night? It was Ariana and Tom, so it must have been pre2023.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, my gosh, What a wild time that was. Oh, my God, the scandal, all of that was so crazy to watch. Anyway, thank you both so much for being here. I really appreciate you guys answering all this stuff and being so open and. Yeah, I can't wait for the rest of the season. I can't wait to see who potentially, possibly, maybe, maybe. No, you're. You haven't confirmed. Maybe nobody throws a drink.
Janet
Maybe nobody.
Danny Pellegrino
But I swear, I thought I heard that.
Janet
While I have your Ohio audience here, can I plug this? And I are doing a watch party in Dublin, Ohio, my hometown. Like, I'm so jealous. I can't go from where I grew up on July 1st. So if any.
Danny Pellegrino
How do people get tickets?
Janet
Ohio people? It's in my links, in my bio, and on my Instagram. I think both of ours. I think I put it in Jason's too. But July 1st will be at Urban Meyers Al House to do a Valley.
Danny Pellegrino
That'll be so fun.
Janet
Really excited. We've had some fans reach out and say they're coming, and I'm super excited to meet people.
Danny Pellegrino
Oh, I wish I could go. Yeah, I went. When is it?
July 1st.
Janet
Yeah, we're gonna. So we're gonna be going. We're gonna spend July 4th weekend in Ohio because it feels like just such an Ohio holiday.
Jason
I'd much rather spend July 4th in, like, a place like Ohio.
Danny Pellegrino
We always used to watch the fireworks with Twizzlers. That was like, I. Whenever I see Twizzlers, the candy. That's what I think about is July 4th. And my mom would make, like, one of those Midwest poke. Jello cakes.
Janet
Yes.
Danny Pellegrino
Pokey or whatever.
Janet
I love it.
Danny Pellegrino
What about your podcast? You guys also do a podcast? Can you tell us about the podcast?
Janet
Our podcast is this side of the Hill available Political podcast everywhere with our bestie, Jared Lips, who you also know we're also on a cast, which you're the face of a cast. I don't know if you know, but when we go to upload our website episodes, it's your face bright and center.
Danny Pellegrino
And I think they change it frequently, but right now I am the face of it.
Janet
Yeah. Which is. I love seeing it. It's so great. You actually helped us decide to go with Acast. So our podcast is this side of the hill and we release episodes every Wednesday.
Danny Pellegrino
And anything else you want to plug or.
Janet
Or tell people to, I think that's it for now. We're not plugging, you know, Jason's Law career.
Jason
Watch the Valley.
Danny Pellegrino
Watch the Valley every Wednesday night.
Jason
Wednesdays on Bravo and Thursday streaming on Peacock.
Danny Pellegrino
And we got 18 episodes this season, plus hopefully three part reunion.
Janet
Yeah, hopefully.
Danny Pellegrino
Okay, thank you guys so much. You can find me on social media at Danny Pellegrino and go to everything iconic store if you want our merch. And then we'll be back next week. We're gonna do a recap of that. Summer House, they're gonna be like a bonus special episode. I think you guys all, not you specifically, but I think the Valley has a good scandal in their future. I don't know what it is. That's my other kind of, like, gut prediction. It's like, I feel like there's some sort of scandal.
Janet
Hopefully we're on the outskirts of it.
Jason
I feel like Vanderpump and Summer House has just set that standard now.
Danny Pellegrino
I hope.
Jason
I hope for everybody, because we're all married people, I hope that there's not a scandal.
Danny Pellegrino
But, yeah, I think there is. I think somewhere. I don't know where it'll be. And I'm not talking about the Michelle and Jesse thing that I also predict.
Janet
That's a separate.
Danny Pellegrino
That's a. That's like a little scandal. I'm talking. I. I feel like there's a national scandal somewhere in Valley.
Janet
Well, as a fan, I'll be excited to watch.
Danny Pellegrino
All right, thank you guys so much.
Janet

In this lively and candid episode, Danny Pellegrino sits down with Janet and Jason Caperna, beloved (and sometimes controversial) cast members of Bravo’s The Valley. The trio navigates the rollercoaster of reality TV stardom, dissecting current and past on-show drama, behind-the-scenes friendships, audience perceptions, and how real life blends with reality TV. They touch on cast dynamics, family life, the impact of fame, and Danny gets the inside scoop (as much as he can!) on iconic and upcoming moments. It’s a true deep-dive for Bravo fans, packed with signature wit, warmth, and honesty.
"I'm actually grateful in a way that I started on the lower end with Hate because it taught me a lot. First of all, it made me develop very thick skin, taught me who my real friends are." – Janet (05:25)
"[This] season so far, you know, you haven't seen me doing much, and I'm, like, as loved as I've ever been." – Jason (06:03)
"I actually forgot... it was night before surgery. I feel like night before surgery, you're supposed to, like, not eat... probably wasn't the best decision." – Janet (06:40)
"You're just sitting there like, you don't know what's going to be asked of you... So I don't really shade anyone for using a beta blocker if that's something that could help them get through it." – Jason (09:20)
"All we wanted was, like, to support Britney and Cruz and... help him get as better as he could. That being said, I think he's still not being very kind to Britney these days." – Janet (13:37)
"I'd die. There would need to be… a lot of alcohol involved for that to happen." – Janet (17:30)
"For me, Lacy is my best friend Michelle's ex husband's girlfriend... I do think that she means well and I just, I want to see her... do a little bit better with some of the stuff she says." – Janet (20:16)
"She’s been relentless… I’m trying to apologize, I’m trying to move forward... I would like to see, you know, some progress in that friendship." – Janet (27:54)
"If every once in a while [Nia] would just be like, my husband’s driving me nuts, we would be like, oh, okay, you get it..." – Janet (32:31)
"It's really not that much work… the people, you know, who do Bravo shows and don't have other jobs are really not doing much." – Jason (40:09)
“Britney's one of the funniest people I know, and I feel like we're starting to see that.” – Janet (44:12)
“She is a lot of the glue that holds this group together... calculated? She has no desire to, like, make us all fight more... that's actually her biggest nightmare.” – Janet (45:49)

— Janet (48:34)
