This episode is sponsored by Michael's, your destination for all things birthday parties. We just had Lucky's first birthday and it was so great to be able to go into Michael's and get everything. Of course I knew they had craft supplies there, but I didn't realize how expansive their party supplies were. And Michael's really is where you can go to get everything for a party, whether you're planning a kid's birthday or even an adult celebration. They've got over 4, 500 party supplies, more than 60 different themes and prices starting at just 99 cents. Plus they've recently lowered prices on hundreds of items. We found adorable decorations, balloons, everything we needed to pull the party together without making a bunch of different shopping trips. Plus, I always have a good time going to Michael's. I love shopping there. I could just browse the aisles forever. But if you're short on time like I always seem to be, you can also get same day delivery or buy online and pick up at the store. They even offer free helium inflation on select balloon styles, which is such a lifesaver. And it was for our party, truly. So if you got a birthday coming up or just a celebration, remember, remember Michaels Everything. To celebrate anything, visit Michaels in Store or shop online now. I just like, I'm so sorry I divorced you. I didn't mean to do that. And Mike's standing there going, hi, I'm Vicki's boyfriend, Mike. And I'm like, of course I heard
E
about it in the car.
C
Like, so sorry. I felt so bad. Hello, everyone, and welcome to everything Iconic with me, Danny Pellegrino. That was a clip from this week's episode of the Real Housewives of Orange county. And it will always make me laugh how much Vicki regrets divorcing Don, because that was truly her soulmate. And despite the fact that she's had other boyfriends coming in and out, she's currently dating this man named Michael, who she was literally with. She was literally with the boyfriend that she's currently with, and she saw the ex husband, Don, and she went and grabbed him by the face in front of the current boyfriend and said, like, I regret divorcing you. Which is the most absurd, insane thing to do. And that's why Vicki is great for reality television. I mean, I have said it time and time again. Yes, she's a monster, but she's like, a monster that's, like, sort of good for reality tv, whether we like it or not. Even there was a moment where she was, like, talking about podcasts, and it's like, here I am on a podcast, and I still was, like, getting a kick out of her, just, like, throwing podcasts under the bus. She's like, who has time to listen to podcasts? Like, she's throwing us all under the bus. Those of us who make podcasts, those of us who listen to podcasts. And yet I was still laughing. And by the way, she also has a podcast, so she's like, who has time to listen to all these podcasts? Who's listening to all these podcasts? I don't even know who's listening. And it's like, Vicki, you're probably going from that confessional chair to go record your podcast. So, so crazy. Oh, it's making me laugh. And this week's episode, it was a bit of a fill. It was a bit of a snooze fest. This week's episode, yeah, we were celebrating hip 50th birthday party. They went to the drag bingo, and they all got dressed up as old ladies. Which we've seen. I don't know how many times have we seen them dress as old ladies? Haven't we seen them dressed as old ladies? Although I did love Heather looked, like, so stunning with that gray hair. I was like, heather, you need to go gray, because that looked phenomenal on you. Anyway, it was a bit of a filler. It wasn't like the most thrilling episode of the Race of Orange Conies I've ever seen, but it had some gems in it. And we did also get the taglines. Now, the taglines are always usually a fun reveal for the season of, like, what are they saying? What kind of crazy shit do they have them saying? What did producers make them say? And my favorite of this season's crop of. Of taglines is Shannon Beador. So let me just. Shannon Storms. Let me just play it for you. How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. It's like, first of all, that her tagline implies that the audience has been asking how Shannon holds it all together. Because she's saying it as a question, how do I hold it all together? How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. So they're under the. We're under the assumption that, like, the audience is asking, how do you hold it all together, Shannon? And I don't think, not once, never in the history of Shannon joining the show has the audience ever said, how do you hold it all together? Because we've seen season after season, her not holding. She doesn't hold it all together. And so if anything, the tagline should be something like, why am I such a mess? Shapewear? Or I don't know. That doesn't make sense. But do you get what I mean? It's like no one has ever asked how you hold it all together. It's not like she's Sarah Jessica Parker in the movie. I don't know how she does it. Because no one's asking, how do you keep it all together? How do you do it all? Because if anything, we're looking at Shannon Beador season after season and saying, why don't you have it together yet? That's the question the audience is asking. But for some reason on her tagline, they made her say, how do I keep it all together? How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. And I'm like, you're. I feel like Shan's one of the least resilient people. I mean, I guess she's still going on the show, so maybe she is resilient. I hate to. I hate to hate on her. I just as a little bit of a. It threw me for a loop when she's saying, how do I keep it all together? I thought, like, who's asking that? Remember that one scene where she was.

Like an owl. Anyway, we're going to get into the episode of the Real Houses of Orange county in a minute, but we do have some outside Bravo news that we need to discuss in the City. Wrapped up now. We kind of fell off in the city, and that's because I got tired of all the Summer House drama. Now, there were too many people. There was one cast member that was, like, in the promotion of the show. Her name was Katie. But then she never even appeared on the show. And she. She had, like, pictures that were released. They photographed her. She's in the cast photo. And then by the end of this season, I was like, where is she? Like, she didn't even appear on anything. And I guess she was Amanda's friend. And I know this stuff happened with west, so maybe they edited her out because they were focusing more on the Amanda Kyle west of it all. But it was very strange to me how they just. It was like she. They promoted this person. And over on Summerhouse, remember, they did that with Levi. Levi was basically edited out of the episodes, but you still sort of her around in the background a little bit. But with this woman Katie on In the City, I'm like, she never even had a confessional, not once. She never was in. I don't even remember her talking in a scene. I was looking at the. On the last episode, they did, like, a friendsgiving, and I was pausing it to see, like, is there someone that's at the table that they're just cutting around? I found it very odd, but I am a little concerned because next season on the show, there's three of them that are pregnant.
D
There's.
C
Lindsay has the young baby. And we're seeing how that postpartum journey is playing out in the Valley. And I don't know that the audience is that interested in seeing that play out times three on in the City or times whatever on in the City. And so I'm a little concerned about going forward. Like, I do want those women who are pregnant and having the kids to have some time postpartum because we're seeing on the Valley, like, those gals got back to work and Kristen Nia had to go start filming right after. And then they had to take the baby on every cast trip. It's like very a lot to watch. And you can see that they probably don't want to be doing all this filming with the baby because they're three months, four months post Bardom. And then what's going to happen with in the City? Now in the City is a new show and I'm a little concerned they would lose the momentum. So I feel like they're in a precarious position. And so I don't know where in the City is going to go. But as it stands, the eight episode season, there was. There was some that I liked. There was a lot of stuff that I just felt like was too contrived, too, like they're trying to do a show. All the stuff with Yvonne and Danielle and the wedding dress was so stupid. Cause it was such a bullshit thing of Yvonne celebrating her wedding. Like she already had her wedding. It was all just a production bullshit. Even if that was her wedding, which it wasn't, it was like a fake cast dinner that they did in the penultimate episode of in the City. It's like, even if we were to suspend our disbelief and believe that that was a wedding, it still was just the cast members there. Yvonne didn't even invite other people from her real life. Like it was strictly just a full cast event. And so I can suspend a lot of disbelief, but I can't suspend disbel. And then even with the whole thing, when they went on the friendsgiving trip and they were deciding the rooms, like, it all just felt very like, fakey to me. And I've been someone also who had been saying, we need in the City. We need a show about the summer House cast members. For years we've been saying that. And I felt like they just waited a bit too long. And I get concerned sometimes. Bravo. They do listen to the audience, but sometimes they listen to them way too late. And I felt that within the city of this sort of summer house spin off should have happened seasons ago. And so they waited too long for it and then they gave it to us. And they were trying to capitalize off the west and Amanda of it all. But I feel like by capitalizing on the west and Amanda of it all, they sacrificed a lot of the character development of these other people. So then people like Ivan and Nick or Georgina, I'm like, I don't really feel like I even know who they are after the first season or. Or anything about their significance. I'm like, confused about Georgina and the ex or the current husband or what. Like, I get confused by all of that. And so. And then they leaned into some of the fakey storylines with. With Kenny and the dad. Like, that all felt fake to me too. It's like, how many fake storylines are we doing on there? It all felt like a season of Melissa Gorga trying to find her long lost sister or something. What are we doing on in the City? And then there was, like, that was balanced by some really interesting stuff about Kyle and Amanda, but then we were so tired of the Kyle and Amanda by the time they got to the end of the city. So I hate to hate on it, even though I just did for about five minutes. But we'll see what happens next season. I don't know where they go from there. I feel like they need to rework that show. I would keep, obviously Kyle and Lindsey and I would maybe bring in some of the Summerhouse cast members and maybe get rid of some of these other people that we don't know. Exactly. I don't know. And then, oh, the other thing is, like, trying to pretend this is a friend group where it's clear that so many of them have just met for the very first time. It was like, I know that some of them are friends. Like, yeah, Lindsey and Yvonne maybe are friends, but then Yvonne doesn't know Andrea. Or it's like there's so many people that it's like, who are these people to each other? Or like Kenny and Gavin. I'm like, they feel like they don't know the other people on the show. And I know they were cast to be dramatic or to stir the pot or whatever, but I'm like, how do. What's their relationship to these other people? And then you keep telling us that this is this genuine friend group, and I'm like, I feel like it's not a friend group. It's like some pockets of friends who are now forced to be hanging out together. Okay, that's my rant on in the City. Speaking of other shows, Golden Life, which is like that Roni spinoff that's gonna be airing on the E. Network. It's like Ramona Countess Suanne, Sonia Dorinda, Kelly Bensimone. It was just revealed that they ordered extra episodes. And I told you guys on the podcast weeks and weeks ago, months ago even, that I had heard that the filming was going really well for that show. And turns out it's going so well that the network ordered more episodes and they're going to be filming in the Hamptons. And they added two cast members. So Margaret Josephs, who I guess she cameoed on it, they are bringing her on board for more episodes. And then Candace Bushnell, who created Sex and the City, she wrote the book that Sex and the based off of, she's going to be joining the cast. And Candace Bushnell, if you're not familiar, she has appeared on Roni as like, she was friends with all those gals. And so do you remember that? Of course, iconic clip where Dorinda's like, I'll tell you how I'm doing. Not well, bitch. She's yelling that to Candace Bushnell, who created Sex and the City. So they're going to be joining as, like, friends. And they're filming more episodes. So I'm excited to watch how that goes. And then I feel like I need the golden life. I need the golden gals. I need the older ladies. Because. Because I'm watching Next Gen NYC and I like the first episode, but then it's starting to lose me a little bit because they keep introducing cast member after cast member after cast member after cast member. I'm like, who are all these people? And then furthermore, I feel like I'm too old for it. And I mean, I don't even mean, like, the content of the shows so much as I mean, like, visually, it's a lot for my eye to take in because the graphics and the fonts that are coming up on the screen, the text messages they're showing, I'm like, I can't even keep up with this unless I'm pausing the show to read what's on screen. They're doing so much graphics and they have got to scale it back because it's too much for my naked eye to handle. All of the graphics they're putting up on the screen every second. It's like there's got someone in a confessional chair, and then behind them, there's 100 graphics. And I know this is a younger show, so maybe they're trying to appeal to a younger demographic that has no attention span. Not that I got a great attention span either, but I'm watching the show. I'm like, how are people keeping up with this? Because all these graphics and then how do I even follow the storyline when I can't even breathe in the graphic that they're showing my eye? It's too much. They need to scale it back. Okay, I got all that off my chest. What else is going on? The Real House of Orange County. Should we get to the episode Because I know that's why you guys tune in and we're going to get to it. Here we go. Real houses of Orange County. Last week on the show, we talked about how Jen's son was, like, driving 105 miles per hour on the freeway and only got a $700 ticket. And I had said, that's inappropriate. We need to keep that man off the road. He shouldn't just get a $700 ticket. And now there's also this. Jen had posted right after I recorded the episode last week, Jen had posted on social media that the sun. I don't know if it's the same sun. Is it a different sun? But I guess was involved in some sort of, like, fire that started. I don't know, you guys. I'm a little worried about those kids. What do you mean starting a fire and driving 105 miles per hour? Like, we have got to reign those kids in. Whoever's doing it, if it's one of them or it's both, I don't know. But allegedly, she had posted about. Allegedly helped start a fire or something. A big fire. And look, California. It can't be starting fires. Too many fires here. So enough. And that young man needs to get it together. I'm sorry. You need to get it together. We opened this week with Shannon, Gina, and Jen doing a bungee workout. And there was like a montage of Shannon doing pratfalls. A lot of people, like, when Shannon does pratfalls, I'll see. Sometimes I. If I go on social media or something while the episode's airing, sometimes I'll see people be like, oh, my gosh, it's so funny watching Shannon fall over again. And I'm like. I'm like, not to me. Not to me. It's not. Cause I. It's every time she's on screen, she's doing a prat fall. And they show her falling at the front door. She was like, getting a package. They showed the ring camera footage. It's like, maybe lay off the sauce. Why are you falling at the front door? Why can't you. Why is your equilibrium off for seven years now? Or however long you've been on the show? Like, plant your feet, Shannon. Plant your feet. She thinks she's Molly Shannon. She really does think she's Molly Shannon. There's only one Molly Shannon. I got news for you. If we could clone Molly Shannon's, believe you me, they'd be doing it already because she's a gem of a woman. But that one Molly Shannon, she knows how to do a comedic pratfall. And Shannon is not Molly Shannon. She just is falling forward and trying to be funny. And I don't know. It's just. It's not for me. It's not for me. Gina, though, she went to Paris with Emily for 50th, and now she's gonna be throwing an old lady lunch for Emily, but she's not telling Emily that's old lady lunch. So she's gonna make all the gals get in their old lady makeup. And I wrote in my notes, I'm gonna turn this around after I say this one negative thing. I'm gonna try to be positive about the show. But I did write in my notes that the show is starting to feel lazy producing and getting a little dusty. Because one of the things that I'm noticing about this season is the 20th season. They even show it on the title card at the beginning of the episode says, 20th season of Housewives. They brought Vicki back, and there's a lot of old cast members that are going to be cycling through this season, and so they are leaning into the nostalgia, and I think that's very purposeful for the 20th season, and that's nice. But I still want some evolution. Like, I want it to be. I want these shows. I like them when they're familiar, but that they're still an evolution. So I like when we have cast members who are anchors we've been with for a while, we get to follow their journey, but I still need an evolution and some new cast members brought in. And even when it comes to, like, the themes and the parties and the lunches and the dinners, and I am happy if we go back. Like, we always talk about how Beverly Hills does a flapper party every year. A 1920s flapper party, or Kyle's white party. There are certain events that it's like a season thing that we're expecting them to do, but then there's certain things where it's like, I don't know that we need to repeat. We've had them dress up as old ladies, haven't we? Am I wrong about that? I feel like Vicki, Tamara, and Shannon. Remember they had that one time where they were. Were they working with Shannon's enema company? Or wait, did Shannon have an enema company? Am I. Is that a fever dream that's, like, coming to me right now? Like, didn't she have an enema company? Or, like, a something to get the colon cleansed? Am I wrong about that? And remember, they dressed up an old lady and they were, like, testing Shannon's enema kit. What the fuck is this show? When you say it out loud, it really does seem fucking nuts. But I do recall that Shannon was, like, doing something with an enema and all the gals come over and they had on old lady outfits or makeup and. And they were doing something with Shannon's enema kit. Am I wrong about that? I don't know. So anyway, when I heard Gina was throwing a party for hips 50th, and it's an old lady thing and they got to dress as old ladies, I thought, like, this is lazy producing. Like, we need some new events. Even the Drag Queen Bingo. It's like, we've done the Drag Queen Bingo. Remember Lydia dressed as Abraham Lincoln? Who could forget that? Who could forget that nutball Lydia dressing like Abe Lincoln to go to the Drag Queen Bingo. And now there is an argument to be made. It's like, yeah, they're leaning in the nostalgia of it and they're bringing that back and they're reminding us of all the wonderful times that we've had on Orange County. But then there's also an argument to be made that this is lazy and we need them to be doing new things. And so, yes, I want them to embrace nostalgia, but also to evolve. And that's. Those are two separate things. And so maybe I'm asking for the impossible task. And that's what I'm here to do. That's what I'm here to do. Let's take a break here. We're going to come back and talk about Hip and Shane doing a photo shoot and the podcast of it all. We'll be right back. I want to thank Acast. Sit tight. You know, one thing nobody tells you about acne is that it doesn't magically disappear once you're out of high school. Every now and then I still get a breakout, usually right before I have to be on camera or do a live show or something. And we're back. How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear. Thanks. I hate it. I hate that tagline. I hate that tagline. And I love it. And I love it. Now that I'm. When I'm really thinking about it, I do sort of love it. I love it. And how much I hate it. Does that make sense? Like I hate it so much that it's coming around to loving it. So that's. That's good. Anyway, Emily and Shane, they're doing a photo shoot for the Podcast. Now she's got a podcast called Legally Brunette and now she's doing one called Til Death Do Us Part. They're spending a lot of money and like, these photo shoots aren't cheap. And so I don't know what she's spending on this photo shoot, but she says we wouldn't be doing more of the podcast if it was tanking. Now, Tamara said it tanked at the reunion. And I think there is some interesting conversation here with the podcast because it's appearing on Tamara and Teddy's feed. So the numbers are going to be what Tamara and Teddy's listenership is. So we can get in the nitty gritty of this. If you want me to explain how the podcast feed stuff works. But basically, if somebody subscribes to a podcast, so those of you who subscribe to Everything Iconic, you guys get the new episodes when they drop. And if you're listening to this podcast and you aren't and you never clicked that subscribe button on Apple Podcasts or Spotify or wherever you listen, please go do that now because it really helps out the shows. So it helps me out. Even if you don't listen to an episode a certain week, it really does help me out with ads, sales and with all that kind of stuff. But so there's like a baseline of listenership. So for Teddy and Tamara, they have a very successful podcast, two T's and a pod or whatever the fuck it's called. And so the numbers that Hip is getting for the Legally Brunette or those podcasts that's appearing on Tamara and Teddy's feed, they're getting the Tamara and Teddy subscribers, plus whoever seeks it out separately from that. But their baseline, getting Teddy and Tamara subscribers who had clicked the subscribe button and who will automatically get those downloads, the episode's downloads when it appears on the feed. Does that make sense? So it's hard to say like, what Emily's podcast is doing without being dropped into the feed. Now, if you'll notice, a lot of podcasts you listen to will do feed drops. So sometimes it'll happen with shows on the same network or shows with the same topic. So we've done them here on Everything Iconic, where another podcast, let's say Two Teas in a Pod or something that's reality TV related, they might come to me and say, hey, Danny, can we do a feed drop on Everything Iconic, like, we'll pay you to put an episode of our show basically as a preview to your listeners. And then in hopes that they listen to it and Then we'll go to subscribe on their feed. So if two T's and a pod did that, which they didn't, but if they wanted to, they would pay me to drop an episode on my feed. And then in hopes that you guys, everything, iconic listeners, be like, oh, I really like that show that appeared on Danny's feed. Let me go seek it out and subscribe to it on a separate feed. Does that make sense? So it's interesting. Like, I don't know what the numbers. I would love to know what the isolated numbers are for Emily and Shane of like. Like, how does their show do separate from the feed without taking into account Tamara and Teddy's numbers? But Shane tells Emily to give Tamara a thank you card because Tamara's pissed, because Tamara feels like Emily didn't thank her enough for putting the episode on the feed. And Emily had posted something on social media like, oh, we're doing this podcast separately and go subscribe to it. But she never said, like, thank you to Tamara and Teddy for putting us on the feed. And what's interesting is, like, Tamara and Tamara and Teddy, all these names. I was just thinking about Tamara and Eddie, but now it's Tamara and Teddy. It is sort of fascinating to me that Tamara is best friends with Teddi, but then she married a man named Eddie. She loves the. She loves the sound of that, huh? The Teddy, Eddie. Anyway, that's not the point. The point is they have a very successful podcast. And with starting a network, I think they have a lot of people under the two T's umbrella. And I've noticed there's been so many world that have come under that umbrella. And wasn't there, didn't they have. Alexi and Marisol did one, And I think they were all under that two T's umbrella. Anyway, Shane tells Emily, just give Tamara a thank you card. And he's right. And I'm glad that he said that because that actually solves a lot when you give someone a thank you card, because it means a lot when somebody gets a thank you card. I love a handwritten thank you card. I do. Then we cut to Tamara meeting Heather for dinner. Tamara said she just came from paddleboarding with Eddie, but it was too boring for the show to show us, even though they filmed it, because there was like, a flashback footage right when Tamara sat down. She's like, oh, I just came from paddleboarding. Heather's like, oh, your hair is a mess. And then they showed, like, a little footage of Tamara and Eddie paddle boarding. And that was the Only thing we saw of that footage. And so they sent us full camera crew to capture Eddie and Tamara at paddleboarding and then just never showed it. They really. It's too boring. It always makes me laugh when it's too boring to show. Then we see Shannon shopping for bags. I should mention Tamara and Heather sort of make up. There was a thing with, like, Jen had thrown Heather under the bus for talking about Tamara. I don't know if I cared about any of that. Shannon, though, she's shopping for bags with Carmela, the new housewife, Carmela Garcia, and they're pretending to be friends. Obviously, Shannon would never be friends. Friends with Carmela. I'm sorry to say. That's my truth. I do not believe it. There's no way. And in no real world would Shannon go bag shopping with Carmella. I'm sorry, they're just not. They're not. They're two different people. And that's fine. But for the introduction of Carmella, it doesn't make any fucking sense that we're having her have scenes individually with Shannon. Because of all the people on the cast, the person that I would find that Carmela has the least in common with is Shannon. Now, I do understand that they are saying they live in the same area or Carmel. Carmela's got a house in Corona del Mar, which is where Shannon lives. So that's the connection they're trying to make. But just because someone lives in the same town as you, I would just like to point out that doesn't mean. Think about the town you live in. Just because somebody lived in that lives in that town doesn't mean, like, you guys make sense to go bag shopping together. So fucking nuts that I'm watching this scene. I'm thinking, like, Carmela and Shannon would never hang out. Like, this is. This is crazy. I can suspend a lot of disbelief for these shows, but not this, that. Anyway, Carmela's divorce. I'm loving Carmela. She's from Cleveland, so I got to support my Cleveland gal. So even if she does me wrong, unfortunately, I will be supporting her. But she met the husband at 21, when she was 34. She was a Playboy Playmate. He was starting quarterback. She used to go to the Playboy Mansion. She said back in the early 2000s, she's like, everybody would be there. George Clooney, Michael Bay, David Schwimmer. And I thought, like, what? What a crowd. What a crowd. George Clooney, Michael Bay, and David Schwimmer. Like, I want to know what they talk about at The Playboy Mansion. I mean, they're probably just looking at the bubbies, but I would love to have a conversation with them. I'd love to sit them down like an actor's. You know how the. They do those actor sit downs where they all sit down around a table and they talk about their work. I would love to sit down with George Clooney, Michael Bay, and David Schwimmer. And she even said, carmela says, I remember leaving a Halloween party with Leonardo DiCaprio when I was 20. Drive into his house, listen to Eminem, lose yourself. She said, I was losing myself. I would. I didn't sleep with him, but I should have. I should have. And I love this karma. I'm liking her. Then she did the wwe. The thing that I'm liking about her is she seems like she won't hold anything back. She's just gonna say what's on her mind. She's gonna say it how she sees it. And I'm very also excited about the dynamic between Vicky and Carmela because obviously Vicki hates any of the new gals. She's not going to be nice to any of them.
D
Them.
C
But they're also. Those two are so different that sparks are gonna fly and Shannon's gonna probably pretend to be in the middle of it, even though there's no world in which Shannon and Carmela are friends. And so if you believe that, you're. You're. I don't know, you're a dumbass. Sometimes we're all a dumbass. Sometimes we're all a little dumb. The other day, I was walking around. What was I. Oh, I was trying to. I was in the grocery store and I was, like, following a recipe and I was like, unable to figure out in my head about how many ounces in a cup. Does that make sense? Like, I just forgot, you know when you forget something. My brain, like, wasn't working and I, like, could not figure it out. I had to google it and I was like, wow, Danny, you're like a big dumb shit. Like, that's a pretty bare bones thing to know. It's something everybody should know and shouldn't be that confusing, but yet I didn't know it. And I thought, wow, Danny, you are a dumbass. You're a big old dumb shit. Anyway, you can Google everything now, so you really don't have to know anything, which is unfortunate. And we're all going to be fucked in the future because no one's going to know anything. We're going to have to google everything. And this is not okay, but that's where we're at. Oh. Then we cut to Vicki and Tamara. Tamara, Vicki said Heather's party was weird. She said Heather's a surface level friend. And Tamara says that Heather just loves to love bomb people. Like, if Heather notices that, if Heather feels like you got a problem with her, she'll love bomb you. And what Tamara means by that is, like, heather will buy you a bunch of shit. She'll give you a bunch of money, or she'll buy you a bunch of expensive shit or invite you to an expensive party, and then you have to like her. That's what they're really saying. Now. Heather told when Vicki was rejoining the show, Heather also reached out to Vicki, and Vicki said Heather thought she was the leader of the pack, But I'm the leader of the pack, and this is Vicki's show. Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, this is her show. Now, Tamara talks about podcasting and the feed drops, which we talked about. This is when Vicki was snoring. And that's unfortunately another thing that I love about that monster Vicki is that when she does that sleeping thing, I love it. Makes me laugh every time. You know what I'm talking about? When she just goes. She pretends to sleep. I love it. I love it. I'll never get tired of that. But she says, who has time to listen to all these podcasts? What are they doing? Are they not working? She loves to say, what are people doing? Are they not working? And then this is when she tells that story about seeing Don and how much she regrets divorcing him. Even though the boyfriend was there. She forgot about the boyfriend. Also. Wait, was she saying she cheated? Did she mean she cheat? She said something about cheating, but was she talking about cheating on Michael, the current one? I was a little confused about that. Then we cut to Carmela's house, and there's a lot of confusion here, too, because I thought this was her house, but then it's revealed that she's got a house in San Diego, so. But then that's the house with the husband, who's not the boyfriend. The boyfriend is the one who's in the current house that she's in, Corona del Mar. But she's got four kids. And let's see. Faith, one of them is 14. One of them's 18. Jax is a son, 15. And then there's a son, JJ, who's 17. She says her upbringing in Ohio was so strict that she went the other way. And she tells a story about her car Blowing up on the freeway. And she hitchhiked because she didn't want to call her mom. And I just was thinking, like, wait, how old is she? Is she around my age? What's her name? I'm gonna look her up right now. I need to figure out, because I was thinking maybe I would have saw her on the freeway. And like, what if we were hitchhiking together? Because there's been times I got accidents in Ohio. Let's see, she's 40. She's a little older than I am. She's 44. She's born in 82, so she's a few years older than me. Anyway, I was trying to think, like, did I ever see someone on a freeway? In my head I'm like, wait, was she Who Did I see her on the freeway? Anyway, she's got the new boyfriend named Danny, another Danny on Bravo, and I'm grateful that there's another Danny on Bravo. And I hope that he ends up being an okay man because the other Danny on the Bravo network is Danny from the valley and he's a demon. And so I'm gonna need us to have better branding with the Danny's. And so I hope that. I hope that he's a good man. But she met him when her life was falling apart. He was divorced twice and now they're together, but they're not married. I don't believe. She does seem a little mean, if I'm being honest, just like vibe wise. And I hate to say that because I am on her side. She's a Cleveland gal, but she seems mean. She does just like my gut feeling and I. We'll have to see. We'll have to wait and see and watch what happens live. And go to broadvottv.com for more information. But my first gut reaction for Carmela is like, she does have like a. A baseline of meanness to me. Just. That's my initial reaction. Whether or not that's true, we don't know. It's only got to know her for two episodes, so who's to say? But gut reaction is like, yeah, she seems like she's a little mean. And I like it right now, but I don't know how I'll feel about it in five more episodes. We'll have to see, Len. We see Hip getting ready for a birthday party. She's got a lot of accomplishments. She's like, I feel good about where I'm at in life. She got the kids, it was a lawyer. She's done a lot. And I'm Proud of her. I am proud of her. You know, give hip and casita a hard time. But they've been on this show for 100 years, and so. Good for them. Good for them. Gina gets in the old lady costume, goes to the drag bar, Hamburger Marys. And again, I can't see hamburger Marys on the Orange county of housewives without thinking of Lydia in that Abe Lincoln drag. I don't know that I love them going to the. I don't love the Orange. Of all the cast, Orange county going to the drag bar. I don't know. And they did a sitcom editing thing, and they bring in the walkers, and they were just doing a little too much for me. And I know that Hamburger Mary's like, they're probably thinking, oh, great. It's great promotion for the show or for the bar. For the drag bar. But, you know, I. And ultimately, maybe this is good branding for drag queens, But I feel like drag queens, especially lately, politically and culturally, have been so villainized that for. Of all the housewives to go to the drag bar, the Orange county ones, I'm like, ugh. But ultimately, it seems like it was a joyous occasion. And. And they all seem to be supportive of the drag queen. Bingo. And Heather's gray hair, again, I mentioned, looked wonderful. She should go gray. It looks great. I thought it looked fantastic. Now Carmela wears a ring that her husband gave her when he was unfaithful. And this is what sparks the conversation between her and Vic Vicki, because Vicki starts asking questions, and she found out that the ex husband had been cheating because he wrote a letter to a woman with a different. And gave it a different phone number than the one he had. So at the bottom of the letter, it said a phone number. Carmela's like, that's not your phone number. And so she's not legally divorced, apparently because of something with the California law. It's like 5050 or something. But she's got. He's in the San Diego house. I sort of feel. I don't know if I should say this. This might be a little conspiracy theory. I don't actually think she even lives in Orange county or anywhere near Orange County. I think she actually lives in San Diego, which is not that far from Orange County. But I feel like we're pretending that she's closer to the women. Like, I think they ca. Here's what I'm trying to get at. I think they cast her on the show and then had to find creative ways to say that she lives close to the other Women like, I don't think she actually does. That's my gut reaction. That's my gut opinion. But I'm still rooting for her. She's got a modern family. Apparently it's got the husband in San Diego. And how far is San Diego from Orange County? They might be closer than I'm thinking. Maybe they're really close. But there's something fishy. What I'm trying to say is there's something fishy about her housing living situation and the fact that she's joining this show. I think the Bravo network, they were like, hey, this person would be a good cast member on the show, but she doesn't live near any of the women or have a genuine connection with any of them. And so it's really loose because what is her connection with. How did she even get to this cast? Like, it doesn't make any fucking sense. And I. So I worry a little. That's a little concern concerning for me because it's like, what is her connection here? I don't know. Vicki says, though that's a lot of dysfunction for the kids. And so Vicki's already judging. And I love when Vicki's judging a new gal. There's nothing I love more. Let's take one more break here and then we're going to come back and we still got to talk about this. Bingo. In the Twizzlers. In the. In Vicki and Carmela, because that's a good. There's some sparks there, Some sparks. We'll be right back. We're back. So the drag Queen Bingo. This is where Vicki and Carmela start getting into it. And Vicki's just judging. That's a lot of dysfunction for the kids. She says she wants them all to be in the same house. And she's concerned about about anytime divorce comes up, too. Vicki's like, don't do it. Don't. Even when her boyfriend's around, it doesn't matter if she's dating someone new. Anyone around her is talking about divorce. She's like, don't do it. Do not do it. You made vows. Don't do it. And it's like she because she regrets her divorce so much. I feel bad for anyone dating Vicky who watches this show and just sees her every fucking second on screen being like, boy, do I regret divorcing Don. Should have never done it. Should been with him still to this day. What was I thinking? How could I have divorced Don? Why'd I divorce Don? I should still be with Don. I love Don. You should never get divorced. You should make A vow and stick with it, because I divorced Don and I regret it every day. Meanwhile, like, the new boyfriend's right next to her. It's, like, so mean. And then she says, oh, it's a lot of dysfunction for the kids. It's like, Vicky, it's dysfunction for everyone in your life when you keep saying you regret your divorce in front of new people you're dating. Like, that's dysfunction. Anyway, they celebrate Emily's birthday, and Emily showed up looking young and gorgeous and everybody else in the old age makeup. And Emily points out that Vicky looks like Thelma from Mama's Family, which is like, one of my all time favorite shows. And whenever I'm in a hotel room, I always watch it on cmt. And then I remember, I'm like, God, I forgot how much I fucking love Mama's Family, the sitcom. If you've never watched Mama's Family, I keep saying Modern Family, Mama's Family, Family. It's the best show. And they don't make them like that anymore. It's like they just threw. It was based on a sketch from the Carol Burnett show, obviously, but it's like that. It's so funny. It's endlessly funny. It's endlessly funny. Thelma from Mama's Family. And she tours. Why can't I think of her name? The woman who plays Mama, I can't think of her name. Of course. She's a legend. And I'm blanking on her name right now. And it's gonna come to me as soon as we're done on the podcast. And I'll be like, oh, fuck, why can't I think of her name? Why can't I think of her name? Vicki Lawrence. That's what her name is. Okay, Vicki Lawrence plays Mama. But it's such a funny show, and if you never watch it, you need to watch it. It's just like an easy sitcom. And they don't make them like that anymore. They need to. So then at the Drag Queen Bingo, they're all eating the Twizzlers and talking about their 50s. Vicki's talking about being in her 60s. She's still afraid of dying. She is. She's been afraid of that for years now. But it was a nice conversation. I think, like, that's one of the interesting things about Housewives to me is like, hearing women talk about aging and getting older and their lives changing. And so I always prefer an older housewife, at least older than me, because I like to know, like, what am I getting into when I reach my 50s, even though I'm not a woman, it's like, still feel like it's interesting and relatable and it gives us insight. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of stuff with women in their 50s on television, so I think it's something fun to look at. Speaking of, I just watched that five. Five star weekend or what's that show at Jennifer Garner on Peacock, and I fucking loved it. It was like, exactly what I wanted. It's like, Jennifer Garner. Who else is in it? Regina Hall, Judy Greer sort of makes an appearance and just Chloe Sevigny. Who am I missing? I don't know. But it's such a good show. It's very, like, design wise, very Nancy Myers. Like the house you'll watch and you'll be like, I want to live there. There's food porn. Food porn and real estate porn are two of the most important things for something that I'm watching. And it gets those perfectly right. So if you're looking for a show to binge. Five star weekend. I did it in like a week and I loved it. I just finished it last night and I was, like, depressed that I have no more episodes. It's based on a book, but I did see the author say that she hopes that there's another season. So even though this season was based off the book, I do think they could come back. And I'm hopeful that people watch it and they give us another season. It's set in Nantucket too. And I'm not kidding. Like, the. After watching the first episode, I was like, I need to go Google Nantucket. Like, I started zillowing houses in Nantucket, like, that I couldn't afford or that I would never move to. But I was like, maybe we need to move there. Like, I. Maybe I need to live in Nantucket. And I'm kind of obsessed with these kinds of towns now because I also just watched that Sally Field octopus movie that I became obsessed with. And that's sort of like in a boaty town. I forget where that was set, but I'm like, God, do I need to move somewhere where there's like, boats and stuff? I think I do. I think I do. Okay, so what else? They asked Carmela about her boyfriend, and she's on and off. He cheated. I think Danny cheated. The boyfriend cheated. Is that right? Uh oh. I do not care for that man. He's already disappointed me, I guess. Or was she talking about the husband that cheated? I don't know. Vicky says she doesn't understand Carmela and I don't think I do either. But I'm excited about that feud. And they start fight. The group starts fighting about Tamara, Heather and Jen and that situation. And Vicki's bored. She says, literally on the mic she said, this stuff bores me. And that made me laugh. Then Hip confronts Tamara about the podcast thing. Tamara feels that Emily's ungrateful and this is why you shouldn't work with friends. You just shouldn't do it. I don't think you should do it. If you could avoid it working with friends and family, then you need to avoid it because it never really works out, especially when there's money involved. But Emily thinks Tamara's jealous. She says something about being jealous. But they make up. Gina brings out the cake, they celebrate. It's sort of a boring episode, if I'm being honest. It was. There were some like, funny parts and stuff. I guess the one thing I will say about Orange county, at least in these first two episodes, it does feel like very classic Orange County. Like I'm talking early seasons Orange county. Like maybe after Tamara joined, but before we got into the Brooks stuff. So I think the Brooks season of Orange county really changed the format where it became about these like season long mysteries. And. And then of course we had all these legal seasons of Real Housewives where it was like Erica Girardi and we had that whole saga play out. And then on Vanderpump we had Scandival and it was like we were getting these full season storylines that had to do with legal stuff on Salt Lake City with Jen Sha and it became sort of murder mystery esque. And so this season, at least so far, feels like early Orange County Housewives. But we're not getting any sort of overall thing now. At least we're not dealing with the outside bloggers like we were last season of Orange County. Like, that was frustrating to watch as viewer of like this blogger said this and this came up on the. It's like we don't want the podcast stuff, even with the Tamara and Emily stuff going on with the podcast. It's like we're not interested in that. I'm glad they wrapped it up and they moved it on because I don't think ultimately any of us want to see that anyway. We'll see where it goes. See where it goes. Anyway. I love you all so much for listening. I will be back next week to recap the Valley in Orange County. So thank you all so much for listening. You can get my books wherever books are sold. Episode: RHOC: The Big 5-O!
Date: July 17, 2026
In this episode, Danny Pellegrino recaps the latest episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC), which centers around Emily's 50th birthday party—a nostalgia-heavy drag queen bingo where the cast dress as “old ladies.” Danny also dishes on this filler episode’s moments of brilliance, provides his signature irreverent commentary on tagline choices and production, and detours through Bravo news including critiques of Summer House: In the City, anticipation for Golden Life, and general musings on Housewives’ evolution. He especially dives into the introduction of new Housewife Carmela Garcia and the perennial chaos of Vicki Gunvalson, including her habit of publicly regretting divorcing Don.
[03:00]
Danny opens by highlighting a clip where Vicki, in front of her current boyfriend Mike, confesses regret over leaving her ex-husband Don:
“She saw the ex-husband, Don, and she went and grabbed him by the face in front of the current boyfriend and said, like, I regret divorcing you.”—Danny [03:00]
Danny’s take: Vicki is “a monster that's sort of good for reality TV, whether we like it or not.”
He finds Vicki's meta-podcasting shade hilarious, especially given she hosts her own podcast:
"She's like, who has time to listen to all these podcasts? ... Vicki, you're probably going from that confessional chair to go record your podcast."—Danny [03:00]
[04:30–07:00]
Main event: Emily’s 50th birthday party at Hamburger Mary’s, featuring the cast in “old lady” drag—a trope Danny thinks is overused on RHOC.
Heather’s gray hair look gets Danny’s rare praise.
The unveiling of the new season's taglines—especially Shannon Beador's:
"How do I hold it all together? Resilience and shapewear."—Shannon Beador's tagline [05:20]
Danny skewers this, saying the audience surely doesn't ask how Shannon holds it all together:
"We've seen season after season her not holding it all together... The tagline should be, 'Why am I such a mess? Shapewear?'” —Danny [05:40]
Memorable Segment:
House-owl chorus as they repeatedly ask, “Who?” mocking the idea anyone's ever wondered about Shannon’s stability. [06:58]
[07:01–12:00]
"They promoted this person...and by the end of the season, I was like, where is she?... It was very strange to me..."—Danny [07:10]
[13:40–15:30]
RHOC is leaning hard into nostalgia for its 20th season—old cast returning, repeated parties/themes.
Danny approves of some tradition but still wants evolution, not laziness:
“We need some new events. Even Drag Queen Bingo—we’ve done Drag Queen Bingo. ...It’s lazy producing.”—Danny [15:55]
Recalls bizarre past events: “Didn’t she have an enema company?... testing Shannon’s enema kit... What the fuck is this show?” [16:30]
[25:15–35:00]
The “podcast drama”: Emily’s show Legally Brunette and Til Death Do Us Part use Tamra and Teddi’s podcast feed, leading to friction about credit. Danny gives a deep-dive on how “feed drops” artificially boost numbers and why Emily should’ve thanked Tamra more directly.
Shannon’s unlikely friendship with new Housewife Carmela Garcia is dissected: Danny finds scenes of them shopping together totally forced:
“There’s no real world would Shannon go bag shopping with Carmela... I can suspend a lot of disbelief for these shows, but not this.” [27:00]
Carmela’s backstory: From Playboy mansion parties to WWE to a very modern, messy divorce/family structure. Danny is skeptical about whether Carmela even lives in Orange County:
“I think they cast her for the show and then had to find creative ways to say that she lives close to the other women...” [39:40]
[32:58–44:11]
“That’s a lot of dysfunction for the kids.”—Vicki [44:11] "[Vicki] regrets her divorce so much. I feel bad for anyone dating Vicki who watches this show and just sees her every fucking second ... being like, boy, do I regret divorcing Don."—Danny [44:40]
“There’s not a lot of stuff with women in their 50s on television, so I think it’s something fun to look at.” [45:10]
Danny keeps his classic mix of sharp pop-culture snark (“monster that’s sort of good for reality TV”), affectionate mockery (of Housewives antics, production choices, and tangled friend groups), and genuine appreciation for the comfort and chaos of long-running reality TV. The episode is a blend of old-school fan nitpicking with moments of pure, unfiltered fun—rolling his eyes at lazy production, roasting cringey taglines, but coming around to “love how much he hates” them. There are plenty of Bravo detours and inside-baseball podcasting asides, but always returns to the centerpiece: the unique, messy beauty of Real Housewives in its 20th season.
For those who missed the episode, this recap brings you the warmth, wit, and chaos of Danny’s analysis, highlighting both the flaws and the fun that keep RHOC (and Bravo) iconic.
