I have too many. I'm always that era. I'm always like, oh, a few years ago. That was like a few years ago.

And I count. And then I'm like, I feel like I've lived 20 lives since then.

I know it seems like. Well, that's because. Let's not forget that lockdown was many years and they. They sort of all run together. So you subtract those years and you're like, well, 80 day obsession was like four years ago.

[Katrina]

Then you're like, oh, no, wait, it was exactly. And yeah. And when I think of who I was then, how.

[Tyler Redick]

How old were you then?

[Katrina]

So what do we.

We started filming 2017. I'm turning 35 the other month, which feels. I'm. I'm turning older than. With, like,

that's weird.

So I just remember he was in his 30s.

Yeah.

I was like, 26.

[Tyler Redick]

That's crazy.

[Katrina]

It's crazy because you were all you

had during your whole messy 20s thing.

[Katrina]

Oh. And I was very much going through it still. Like, you know, are we still going. Are we still going through.

[Tyler Redick]

Because I feel like we are.

[Katrina]

Yes. But, like, yeah, being our wife, like, just being on, like, the relationship I was in.

[Tyler Redick]

Yeah, we want to go down that. We'll save that for another five days.

[Katrina]

Yeah. But, like, yeah, I just think about that time, and I'm like, it feels like yesterday. But then also I'm like, yeah, who is that girl? But even just thinking about that audition, like, was so funny to me.

[Tyler Redick]

Okay, so you're a dancer and actress, obviously. But in case people don't know. So here's the thing. On set, Katrina was always quiet, kind of while the cameras were rolling, which is hilarious because she's so not the quiet girl.

[Katrina]

Yeah.

And she's hilarious.

[Katrina]

Well, it's funny because Donald, I remember, I'm just, like, very. If I don't know people.

But, like, if I'm walking into a room and I don't know anybody, it's different. When you walk in with a friend, of course, because you feel a little more yourself. Like, you can be more extroverted because they're there with you. But, like, if I'm alone, I'm just more of an observer. So, like, I need to take in, like, who's around me. Like, what's the vibe? I also can't force, like, a vibe.

No.

Or, like, energy.

[Tyler Redick]

No.

So I can't, like, just. I don't just bust in. Like, Like, So I remember Donald, he would always. He was like. I thought you were mute. Like, he's not speaking word.

You. He was too busy stealing while you lie.

[Katrina]

Exactly. No, that. Well, once we started getting into filming, then I was, like, talking it with, like, everybody. Yes. But, like, in. Have rehearsals, he was like, you didn't say, like, one word. And I was like. I mean, yeah. No, I did it because, again, I'm like, I didn't. I. It's like, I just. When I'm getting to know people, but then once I do, then it's like, oh, turned on. But, yeah, I would say things, but Donald's very. No, you guys. You don't know.

[Tyler Redick]

No, you. So you guys were. Mike. That's the thing. You guys weren't Mike, during 80 day only, I was. So I would hear everything you guys were saying, but nobody else would hear it. So I would either have to repeat what you guys are saying.

[Katrina]

Right.

[Tyler Redick]

So that the audience knew.

[Katrina]

Right.

But also, a lot of times you guys were saying things to each other that I couldn't hear.

[Katrina]

Yeah.

Or just mumbling under your breath because the show was hard.

Even sometimes I like, you'll say things, you're not even realizing you're saying them.

[Tyler Redick]

Yeah.

Not even realize I'm talking. Then it's like, oh, yeah, oops, I forgot there's all these cameras. Yeah, yeah. But, yeah, it was fun. A lot of fun. But yeah, it's like, I think, like, I know. And I like people. People in the cast would be like, can you speak up? But I'm like, again, when I say, like, it's like, I can't plan these jokes. Like, they come, they just roll up.

[Tyler Redick]

She's like, I'm in no early.

[Katrina]

So it's almost like, repeat it. I'm like, now I gotta go to performer mode.

[Tyler Redick]

So you want me to be an actress.

[Katrina]

Right. And then it's like. But I'm also, like, aware of how production where, like, you're speaking about a move. Right. What am I going to like, be like? This is why I said, like, while you're speaking, like, do you mean. Yes, but exactly that. It's like, I know to like. And then it's like timing. It's like, if it not. So I'm like.

[Tyler Redick]

You're like, it's not the moment's past. I said it. It was funny. I don't want to repeat it.

[Katrina]

And also, the last thing I'm going to do is repeat it, and then it doesn't land because it wasn't the timing.

Well, the night was so frequency. You would say it. Donald would hear you. He would know nobody else heard you and would take it. So really, everybody loves Donald, but really, they love you.

[Katrina]

Let's just. If he's gonna go away for a two week.

I heard my panties were brought up in an episode. Well, I miss stuff in an episode.

[Tyler Redick]

Okay. He.

[Katrina]

It's a running joke with Donald because it's a running joke. But it was also that he takes all my jokes because that would happen on set. He would be. And it was harmless. Like, he would just repeat it for me so that he could. And then everyone thought he said it. And then he'd run with it and he'd be like. He'd be like, yeah, like, it was what was it, four weeks? I. Four weeks that. Go slow.

[Tyler Redick]

I said, go slow, don't cheat.

[Katrina]

You said, go slow. Donald said, like a relationship.

[Tyler Redick]

I said, go slow, don't. I think I said go slow and don't cheat because I was telling him, like, don't cheat the form. And I think you kind of mumbled, like, relationships. And he repeated it.

[Katrina]

I think he. It's so funny. I recorded it and said to them, because for the longest time, you tried to say. He didn't say. And I. And I was doing. I was doing the workout one day, and I said, I'm gonna. I listen. If I say something, it's because I have receipts. I don't say things out of my ass. If I don't think I'm right, I'm not gonna say I'm right. But if. I know. I think you said go slow, like, and then. It was tough.

[Tyler Redick]

It wasn't.

[Katrina]

I think I. He said relationships when I said go slow and don't cheat. Because he said relationship, and then he repeated it.

[Tyler Redick]

Yes.

And you said, oh, my God, that's so weird. And literally, he's like. He's, like, doing the work, and he's like. And I didn't think I got this. And then it became merch. All right, So I started writing jokes.

So just so you guys know when you're thinking, you're laughing at Donald's jokes,

just know who's writing that. There's always a ghost writer. It's country. Don't be shy. You can say it something to him in the cotton.

Well, my. One of my best friends just moved to Portugal. Yeah.

It was. It was so cute. And it. She lives in, like, a really small surf town, too, which was really nice. And she was pregnant, so we didn't do, like, bopping around or anything, but it was kind of nice because it was, like, for holidays, like, Thanksgiving.

Oh, fun.

So it was cute to just like, explore her area. And then we did Lisbon a little bit. The shopping listen. Was amazing.

[Tyler Redick]

Really? Yeah.

[Katrina]

There's a lot of like, really cool. Like, thrift. Like, vintage. But they, like, really curate their vintage. Like, it's not just, like, somebody's agony. Yeah. It's not just because they're in other closets. It's, like, very curated. Like, I brought, like, three coats out, and it's like, when can I wear them? Probably, like, one month out of the year. But I needed them.

You can go to New York.

[Katrina]

Well, I did.

And I did.

I did that on New York and fabric.

I have a closet full of coats. Why? Like, when I say modes, I mean, like.

Like a good old Midwest coat.

I used to go to New York a lot.

Yeah. Yeah.

And then obviously, same thing after lockdown. Like, I've been like, guys. Well, three times, I think now. But, like, I used to go, like, two or three times a year, and it would be always, like, in the winter, especially for, like, stuff with body and stuff.

Why'd you always go in winter? Just because it was worse, I think.

[Tyler Redick]

Yeah. Work stuff a lot. I was there.

[Katrina]

I love New York.

[Tyler Redick]

It's beautiful.

Because it's, like, Midwest. Yeah, well, Midwest hurts. I'm not.

I'm really about the snow in New York.

When I went for February, I only went because it was my friend's 30th, so that's the reason it was February, but holy, like, freezing. And, like, listen, when I go back to Chicago, I was like, I know Chicago cold, but whenever I go for holidays now, it's not. It doesn't get there. At least the week I'm there, it's always, I leave and then no serving it.

[Tyler Redick]

Yeah.

[Katrina]

You're like, cali sun follows me.

[Tyler Redick]

She brings it.

[Katrina]

But yeah, so. But this was, like, one of the coldest weekends in New York in the longest time. It was like, so. And also, half the people I was with are Cali people. Like, corn, rice. Oh, it's so funny.

You're like, okay, we need to be inside.

[Katrina]

No, it was. It was crazy. Like, I was like, oh, my God, I can't believe I used to go out in this weather with, like, no coat, no co. Skirt.

[Tyler Redick]

Oh, my God.

Eels.

Open toes, open toes. Or yet on, like, nylon.

Just liquor, blanket.

And you just lick your foot. You just stand there in the line huddling.

Oh, my God. I walk sometimes because we're like, you know, you didn't. I mean, cabs back then were, like, cheap. But you don't want to. You know, you're like, let's just start Walking.

Yeah. I was in St. Louis so we could drive and there was usually parking lots, but then you wait in like a wraparound line.

[Katrina]

Oh, yeah.

I always became friends with like the bouncer.

Absolutely.

[Katrina]

I'm so my mother's daughter.

Oh, I love also because I was using like a fake id, say, and I just was like, it'll be more comfortable if I know these people. You know what I mean?

Well, what's funny is that like, whenever I used, my sisters got taken twice. One time I was expired and they were always out hard bars at. An ex friend of mine would always want to go to meet up with a boy. I would be like, I can't go in here.

Yeah.

But I'm a girl's girl, so I'm like, I'll go here. And then we'd get shooed out. I'm like sitting on the curb. Now.

There's many Asians I think there's, like, scabby hair. Or, like.

And I'm kidding. I'm like, they're probably like, yeah. It's like.

Like, obviously there's only three of them.

And then it's like. And then my come in, like, two people with the same idea. Yeah, it was great. It worked like a charm. But again, I would make friends because so. And her name's Christina. Okay, so, like, Katrina Christina. Yeah, but it's like, when I would say hi. It's not like every time I say hi to the buzzers, they would say, hi, Christy. They're just like, hey, girl. I'm like, hi, guys. Like, oh, my God. Hi. Like, I know their name. So that's all that mattered.

I would roll in. And this is so on brand stuff. And I feel like you'll be like, yeah, I could see that. It's like I'd roll in on, like, a Friday. And then you always have, like, the good, like, the goodies. You, shoes. Oh, no. Go until, like, don't really go out. And then they, like, they're there early, like, you know, and I'm grabbing, like, one minute right before, like, sunglasses. It's basically how I'd come into set. I'm rolling on my hair, like, sunglasses, keys, like, coffee. Like, just set everything down at the bar and, like, get my spot, you know? You know, people are like, oh, did she go out last night? And it's like, you don't have more time to make you, like, yeah, yeah. I'd be like, yeah, it is so fun.

Yeah. I was dancing in birthday. Yeah. Five hours ago.

So basically I was practicing. What were you doing? Yeah, I was dancing. Were you not a DX major? What are you doing here?

So a platform and a fairly thick heel were very popular when I was in college.

No, I, I, I mean, it's a different pain on the Strip because you're going like, you don't even know what time it is. You don't realize you've been dancing for like. No, not only dancing. Standing.

I have good form, but other than that, I never really knew how to properly like workout. Like it wasn't at the gym every day. So also. And then you were the first time doing real time.

So like every other audition was like, you kind of already have to look like pretty. Like it was a different kind.

Yeah.

Yeah. Back then for Beachbody. Yes. Yeah.

Yeah. So I remember that intrigued me that it was like, oh, well, you get to go through the process, you know. I was like, okay. But still I was like, I don't know. We'll see. And so I slept over at my exit, you know. Boyfriend.

Yeah. Yeah.

And I just remember being like, I'll just set in the morning if I'm gonna go. And I didn't even have a proper sports bra. I was wearing a Calvin Klein that's fantastic bra.

Like, again, you guys, true Katrina. I don't give a fashion. I was like, it works.

[Katrina]

I mean, I. And I lived close to. I could have gone home. I just was like laying there. I was like, like, I'll just go. Like, I'll go. And I remember. I'm not kidding. I can. I can bring myself back there right now. I remember being in the green room, like, waiting to go with like the next group. And I remember standing in front of the mirror, like looking at myself and I was just like, okay, like, let's do this. I guess another. Another audition. So I remember, like, I remember that whole process. I remember being in the middle. I Remember being the only new one cats to talk to like all frickin 20 of you.

We're talking about my armpit pillows.

I remember. But we loved you.

Yeah. No, it's fun. But I would say, oh my God, a favorite. I think the favorite is just like bonding with the cats. Because I really was like. And especially what I was going through personally at that time with that relationship, like that relationship was fucking awful. Yeah. And so to know like every day getting to be with everybody was such a blessing because. And I even look back, I'm almost like. Even though I learned a lot from that relationship, sometimes I get sex. I'm like, oh, he took so much like that took so much of my energy. Because even when I was on set I was like. Had such anxiety. Yeah. Where it's like I felt like sometimes I had to like go right away. But it was such a safe space for me to like be with people who I'm like grew so close with and like had such good time with. And like, even if I was like anxiously thinking, sometimes that leads to. I could like, it was easy. I could say, okay, you're on set right now.

Like there was something I could pull it away from.

Something that will especially like distract your mind a little bit.

And so I guess it kind of just barely, like, pulled.

It wasn't that obvious. But, like, here's how I found out that my nipple basically was showing the whole workout.

No, I don't. First of all, I don't think so. Oh, my God. You imagine if they let me keep filming like that? I would have died. I would have never come back. ADJ would be the last program out of a job. What can you do? No. So we finished filming, or we had filmed. I don't remember. Like, maybe we had to come back and we had one or two more workouts to do. But in between filming the first couple workouts, because we only did.

Okay, so we only did five. I had a trip to New York. I was with Steph, our. Our fitness expert. So we're flying back and I have an email from Brian, and it says, can you approve these photos? Tell me which ones you like. Basically, they were trying to pick. They were trying to pick key art, tile art, which basically means it's going to be the COVID image that lives on the main page to represent your thumbnail, right? Yes. Yeah. And I open it and I start scrolling the photos. And I was like, that looks familiar. See how funny she is? And I was like, that's my nipple. And I look at Seth and I was like, is that my nibble? Because by the way, the sports bra was Cora. Like the color, like a peachy pink.

And I was like, steph, that's my nipple. Right? And she was like, I'm sad.

I. Yeah. It's basically just dance inspired and which I know you love it because I'm a dancer. So like my main one is sculpts. Just like you would sculpt class but to be. So it's called a cop sculpt. So it's to the beat. But then I know I'm such an idea person. I could have like 10,000 ideas.

And it helps with your memory. So it's kind of like that. But it's sculpting movements, moves too. So that.

And for me, I realized, because I was like, why am I so, like, trying towards. Even though it feels like naturally this is what's coming into play. And I realized it was my ex never saying his name in public.

I remember he said something about a friend of mine because she used to teach, like, Zumba or like, like a dance cardio. Yes. And he's just like. Like, he's now knowing he's smoking through it. And he was like, oh, like, I hate. I hate when girls do that.

I'm like. And they teach classes with that, like, like all this energy. And I'm like, oh, yeah. Like, you're so dumb. Because also, like, that's what you're doing.

So then I leaned into it and then alumni just, like, it really wanted to bring back palms because I was on dsd. Okay. And, like, I just, I think, like, grow, like, when. As you get older.

It's like when you go back to your inner child days. Like, go back to the things that are fun because you realize just, why am I not.

Alumni came because it's like, like alumni. It's like when you're an alumni, you used to do it, but it's the point of bringing that kind of nostalgia and that energy of what you used. Like what you. I love when you did. When you, you know, even if you just did recycles or if you're on a team, even if you competed or, you know, used to be pro and you're not. But just taking away, like, there's no pressure anymore. It's like, you know, audition. You have to like, put on face. It's just.

But mainly on TikTok but it's my alumni dance fitness cage so I'd have like my personal. Which I'll. I still share stuff but the ADF page has. They're like 10 minute long and they like get those get my most engagement. Oh and I, I remember thinking like this is long microphone. But I was like, I don't care. Whatever like I want. I do love teaching and I love.

Yeah. Yeah. And so I was doing those and I was like, well I should put them on the site. And on the site I'll have. I'll still do them for free. Like short ones and I'm doing longer ones on site and I'll have different lips. So my levels are jv, which is your beginner varsity is going to be intermediate and then pro levels like you're advanced. So that way there's like. Because I. Even though I'm. I'm marketing towards ex dancers, ex movers, ex cheer, it does not mean you can't. You need to have had dance experience.

So. And I know so many of my own personal friends who love to dance are like, they'll take class and they're not dancers at all and they want to. So I'm like, oh great. Like let's. Yeah, especially because even beginner out here in la, especially in person, beginner classes are. Are not very beginner.

No. You're telling me, girl. I'm like, I'm not going to those anymore.

They are not. And I log in and these kids

are like, what's beginner about this?

No, no, it's crazy. And I've been to them and I've also to have people I know who are true like beginners. And then it makes me sad because I'm like, oh man, that just like scares them away. And so online I'm sure there's other people too. Like there's lots of. Obviously like this isn't the first website giving a dance to Charlie. There's two of those. But I, you know, I, I was like, I think I want to provide that because I feel like either also why I love the bridge of fitness and dance and like dance fitness is that when I was teaching dance fitness live the past, like, year or so, I'd had a lot of students that were not dancers. But there's something about when you say

it's fitness, it feels safe, it feels safer. It does not feel like the choreography is going to be so hard.

Yes. You're like, it's a workout.

Like, any movement, I don't have to

Like, there's just something psychological about, like, no, don't worry, it's a workout. It's. And so I tell those, don't worry, don't worry. It's just falling. And what I would see is, like, I had some day ones who, like, I'm still tight with, but I love so much. I'm like, at some point, like, once they're. They, like, started going to a class, like, a dance class, and that was like, my. My hope is, like, whether you're here just to sweat and, like, work out. Otherwise, sometimes you think you're going for that, and then they realize, oh, wait, I'm, like, picking up fast.

Like, oh, I like, maybe I do want to try. Like, it's like a little pipeline. So that's like, my hope for the site, too, is like, you know, you can come here just for the sculpt also. But if it's. I mean, you know how it is with dance, too. Like, so good for your brain.
