[00:00] The episode opens with a dramatic recounting of Chrysantes' steadfast belief in Jesus Christ despite opposition from his father, Krssantes.
Chrysantes declares, “I believe that Jesus came into the world to save sinners like you and me. He is the light of the world. There is no hope in the idols you adore.” ([00:30])
His father, Krssantes, challenges his faith, stating, “Son, you can't believe this. Jesus is real,” to which Chrysantes responds with unwavering conviction. Imprisoned in a dark cellar, Chrysantes continues to sing praises to God, demonstrating his resilience ([01:15]).
Determined to sway Chrysantes from his faith, Krssantes employs various tactics, including worldly temptations and the introduction of Daria, a woman of extraordinary beauty dedicated to idolatry. However, Chrysantes' faith remains unshaken. Instead of falling into temptation, he leads Daria to Christianity, resulting in her baptism ([02:45]).
Their union not only solidifies their personal faith but also amplifies their ministry, drawing others to Christ through their miraculous deeds. When Roman guards attempt to bind them, the ropes miraculously fall off Chrysantes’ hands, and subsequent beatings leave no physical marks ([05:00]).
