Hosted by The Voice of The Martyrs
Release Date: July 16, 2025
In this compelling episode of Extreme Devotion, hosted by The Voice of The Martyrs, listeners are introduced to the harrowing yet inspiring story of Pastor Li Da Xian, an unwavering evangelist operating under severe persecution in China. The episode delves deep into Pastor Li's relentless faith, the brutal challenges he faces, and the enduring impact of his ministry despite intense opposition.
The episode opens with a poignant exhortation rooted in scripture:
"You must continue to believe this truth and stand firmly in it. Don't drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good news." (00:00)
This message sets the tone for the narrative of Pastor Li Da Xian, who embodies extreme devotion in his evangelical mission. Quoting Colossians 1:23, the host emphasizes Pastor Li's commitment:
"I will preach until I die." (00:00)
Despite facing imminent threats, Pastor Li's dedication to his faith remains unshaken.
Shortly after delivering his sermon, Pastor Li's ministry is violently interrupted:
"Pastor Li Da Xian had preached just a few minutes when Public Security Bureau officers stormed into the house. They dragged Pastor Li outside and beat him as well as others in the Chinese congregation." (00:00)
The brutality intensifies at the police station, where Pastor Li is assaulted multiple times:
"At the police station, the evangelist was beaten again until he vomited blood. The officers beat his face with his own Bible, leaving him bleeding and barely conscious on the concrete floor of the cell." (00:00)
This graphic portrayal underscores the severity of the persecution faced by Christians in certain regions of China.
Remarkably, Pastor Li's resilience shines through even after such severe abuse:
"When he was released seven hours later, he resumed his ministry." (00:00)
In a subsequent encounter, Pastor Li faces further violence when delivering a message to his church:
"Seven PSB officers came in shouting accusations against the evangelist when they saw a visiting Westerner with him. They left, but returned 15 minutes later with reinforcements. Li was beaten with rods and kicked as he held his Bible to protect his ribs." (00:00)
Amidst the chaos, Pastor Li's commitment to his faith remains steadfast, symbolized by his act of holding the Bible despite the physical abuse.
The episode highlights the blatant hypocrisy of those persecuting Pastor Li:
"Why must you beat him? Shouted some of the foreigners. What about the freedom of religion you claim in China?" (00:00)
Despite claims of religious freedom, the actions of the Public Security Bureau (PSB) starkly contradict these assertions, revealing a complex and often contradictory landscape for religious practitioners in China.
Following the attack, large gatherings are prohibited, yet Pastor Li's church adapts ingeniously:
"After the attack, the large meetings in the village ceased, but the church did not stop. They gathered in more than 40 smaller meetings, and new people found Christ each week like droplets of mercury." (00:00)
This fragmentation forces the community to become more resilient and innovative in their worship practices, demonstrating that oppression often inadvertently strengthens the resolve and unity of persecuted groups.
The host reflects on broader themes of faith and perseverance:
"When the opposition tries to keep the church within its grasp, it only divides into smaller and smaller units. What we may perceive as obstacles to evangelism are merely opportunities in disguise." (00:00)
This perspective encourages believers to view challenges as chances to grow and adapt, reinforcing the idea that steadfast faith can overcome even the most daunting adversities.
Listeners are urged to examine their response to opposition:
"When you come up against opposition, do you give up too easily? Or can you persevere and find another way for the gospel message to advance?" (00:00)
The episode serves as a powerful reminder to maintain faith and continue the mission despite facing significant obstacles, drawing inspiration from Pastor Li's extraordinary example.
In closing, the host invites listeners to engage further with The Voice of The Martyrs:

This call to action emphasizes the importance of prayer and support for those enduring persecution worldwide, encouraging the audience to take tangible steps in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in faith.
