In Luke chapter 2, we encounter Simeon, a righteous and devout man in Jerusalem who was eagerly waiting for the "consolation of Israel" - the Messiah. Simeon then gave a profound prophecy to Mary: this child was destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel and to be a sign spoken against. Through Him, the inmost thoughts of many hearts would be revealed, and a sword would pierce Mary's own soul. After this powerful moment, Simeon disappears from the narrative.
