The Old Testament prophet, Nehemiah, gives a charge to the Israelites that’s still vitally important for us today. The charge in Nehemiah 4:14 is to fight for your family. The enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy you, your marriage, and your children. For far too long, many of us have sat back and allowed the enemy to win the battle for our families, but through God’s grace that doesn’t have to happen anymore. A strong family starts with a strong marriage. It's time to be consistently committed to your spouse. It’s time to selflessly serve your spouse. It’s time to show Gospel grace to your spouse. With God’s strength you can forgive the inexcusable things your spouse has done because God has forgiven the inexcusable things you’ve done! A strong family takes intentional parents. It’s time to dads to take the lead in loving, disciplining, and discipling their families. It’s time for moms and dads to value their children’s relationship with the Lord more than their hobbies, careers, or busy schedules. Mom and dads must work together to raise their children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Are you ready to fight for your family? It starts with you loving Jesus with everything you are. Then begin to pray for and with your family. Lastly, be intentional with teaching your children about the Gospel of Jesus. The enemy is coming for your family. Are you ready to win the fight?
