Benny Blanco
His heart is frozen.
Jack
Okay, Barry Keoghan. Or is it Quaggin?
Chuck
Barry Keoghan. He came from the old land.
Benny Blanco
Jack, you excited for Barry Keoghan?
Jack
Yogan.
Benny Blanco
How do you say his name?
Jack
I don't know. I think you just said it. I don't know.
Chuck
Kogan Keoghan.
Benny Blanco
Barry Keoghan.
Jack
I thought it was Quaggin.
Benny Blanco
I'm gonna say, hey, Barry Keogwin.
Jack
I feel like he probably gets, like, last name flack a lot.
Benny Blanco
Nobody. Nobody.
Chuck
Yeah, it's like people don't make fun of people anymore.
Benny Blanco
Keogh. What? Everyone makes fun of everyone.
Jack
I don't make fun of anybody.
Benny Blanco
Hey, enough.
Jack
Okay?
Benny Blanco
You know why?
Jack
Why's that?
Benny Blanco
I think it's really important for us to get a little fancy, a little classy.
Jack
You're a man with a pan pied.
Chuck
These boxes do look classy. Are these.
Jack
They're black.
Chuck
These are classy.
Benny Blanco
Do you know what this is, Jack?
Jack
Pizza.
Benny Blanco
Not only pizza, but do you know what type of pizza?
Jack
You always gotta surprise me with the pizza. And I like that. Cause I'm hungry. It actually looks incredible.
Benny Blanco
Yep, it's incredible. You know what makes it even better? Slice sauce. And now let me tell you something. Some people might call this slice sauce. What I call it is heaven sauce. It's good.
Barry Keoghan
Mm.
Benny Blanco
It's the best sauce I've ever tasted in my life. That's pizzer related.
Jack
Really?
Benny Blanco
That's pizzeria.
Jack
This is a food man. This guy has a reputation in the food industry.
Chuck
It is good stuff.
Jack
Let's put it away.
Chuck
Why?
Jack
Because I don't want this man to come into this, you know?
Benny Blanco
This is hand rolled pan pie you're talking about. You want to just put away hand rolled pan pie?
Jack
I think everything should be put away at some point.
Chuck
Well, you don't think he wants to see us?
Jack
Nope. I think this is a man from Europe. They do things differently. He doesn't. He's Europe. I mean, that's why we're having this premium box, upscale.
Benny Blanco
Let's go, guys. Let's get our axe together.
Chuck
But just put it so we can have it when he's gone.
Jack
Put it on the ground.
Benny Blanco
I'm gonna eat it when I go to the bathroom.
Jack
We got M and Ms. In the bathroom. I don't know why. Let's deal with that.
Chuck
They're in a bag that we had to wrap.
Benny Blanco
Look who it is. Oh, hey.
Barry Keoghan
Whoa.
Benny Blanco
Just walking right in.
Barry Keoghan
Walking in.
Chuck
Barry Keoghan.
Barry Keoghan
What's happening? You got it right Keoghan.
Benny Blanco
That's what I thought.
Chuck
Keoghan.
Barry Keoghan
Is that what you're all saying? Keogh.
Benny Blanco
Keoghan going over. I think he said Keoghan.
Barry Keoghan
They're lovely homes, by the way.
Jack
First off, Barry Keoghan.
Barry Keoghan
It's a lovely home.
Jack
Thank you so much. Do I need a drink or.
Barry Keoghan
We have sparkling, please. Okay.
Jack
Yeah. Come on.
Barry Keoghan
I love this place.
Benny Blanco
You know that you like it. You know that.
Barry Keoghan
You know, you should taste Kerrygol butter.
Chuck
What? Oh, yeah, from Ireland.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I love that one. I'm Irish.
Benny Blanco
Wait, Chuck, he just said. He just said butta.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, you have it.
Chuck
Is this for your family?
Jack
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Barry Keoghan
My uncle made this.
Benny Blanco
He did?
Barry Keoghan
Pure. He just fresh.
Benny Blanco
But first of all, that's your real dick.
Chuck
We doing this or just laughing?
Barry Keoghan
Ow.
Benny Blanco
I don't even wanna see. Oh, my God.
Barry Keoghan
Is this real? The entries of Ed Sheeran. Sheeran.
Benny Blanco
You get in the ring with like, Jake Paul, right?
Barry Keoghan
Wow. Diamond. Get on there. Drop the link here.
Benny Blanco
Is that your best soft dick?
Barry Keoghan
That's a great question.
Benny Blanco
That's what I wanna know. You're so cool. Like, I like.
Barry Keoghan
Thanks.
Benny Blanco
I didn't like. You're like so. You're like a cool. Like. You're like the. You're like the popular guy, Ollie. I think it's like the hat. It's the backwards.
Jack
The only reason you' saying that is because he's wearing a backwards hat.
Benny Blanco
But it feel. Doesn't he feel like you're fun and like.
Chuck
And cool?
Barry Keoghan
Thanks, I needed that.
Benny Blanco
Hey, what's happening? What happened to your arm?
Barry Keoghan
That's just a rush.
Chuck
You actually feel like the comments are bringing you down right now in your life.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Really?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I think. You know, again, I'm not on Instagram or Twitter or any of that, but you feel it. But I still go on and.
Chuck
Where are you reading them?
Barry Keoghan
You know, I'll go on on my.
Jack
The public. The public, not his.
Chuck
Do you google instagram.com?
Barry Keoghan
no, I'll go on my brother's account or like, you know, I can access it that way. Oh, no.
Benny Blanco
You're like. Are you sometimes like, you're hanging out and you're like, give me your phone?
Barry Keoghan
Honestly, no. But I do go on and have a look and. Cause, you know, I'm curious.
Benny Blanco
But don't do it.
Barry Keoghan
There is a lot of hatred towards negativity me for just looking like this here.
Chuck
So terrible. It's so terrible. Why do you mean looking like this?
Barry Keoghan
I mean just looking like this. Like, just attacking my appearance.
Benny Blanco
You're hot.
Jack
Dude.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. Do you know what I mean? But, like, it's just. It's crazy. It's just crazy.
Benny Blanco
I want to tell you something though.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Like. Cause man to man, I'm a guy who gets. Couldn't be.
Barry Keoghan
No, I've seen our faces together.
Benny Blanco
Couldn't be talked about more.
Barry Keoghan
I post that 20 million fucking views being like, how ugly are they?
Jack
Oh, man, that's sick.
Benny Blanco
Honestly, dude, you're hot. You're much hotter than me.
Jack
So he is hotter than you, but you're both hot.
Benny Blanco
Oh, my God. So you're like. You're like a movie star. Like you. I mean, you are a movie star, but I have never even seen a bad thing about you. Maybe like a few of my friends who are like, my friends making fun of me. They've like, sent. Like, I saw. There's this like, one really fun. I find it very funny where it's like, me, you and like, Travis, Kelsey and then like the guy who Ariana dates, and it's like, which one of these, like, ugly bastards would you want to date? And then they're like, they're girlfriends. I don't mind that. But like, yeah, yeah, I don't mind that. I'm like, these things sometimes, like, in our heads seem like so fucking huge. And it's like one. And you know what? It is huge. It's huge. I'm not gonna lie to you. I'm sure it's huge if you're like, you feel sad. But like, I always tell people. Cause I'm not a comments guy. And when I do, when, like, they'll tell me. Cause they know I have like the thickest skin. Like, literally. We came across a thing yesterday.
Chuck
Oh, yeah.
Benny Blanco
She was sitting right next to me.
Chuck
We were sitting outside and I was just like screaming, scrolling on TikTok. And all of a sudden I got served. What did it say?
Benny Blanco
It said, like, Benny Blanco gets pissed in the mouth and loves it or something.
Chuck
Benny Blanco loves the taste of human urine.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. And they'll be like.
Jack
And then he was like, I didn't say that. And then he opens up the clip. It's him being like, yeah, like my friend pissed in my mouth one time.
Barry Keoghan
No, no, but.
Jack
And then he's like, that's real.
Barry Keoghan
The comments about the feet I've seen.
Benny Blanco
Oh, yeah, look what someone made. Look what someone.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, wow. Wow.
Benny Blanco
Of my foot with dirt on.
Barry Keoghan
Can I get one of those?
Benny Blanco
Yeah, you can.
Barry Keoghan
You notice a picture of me on the Internet and I'm like that with dirt on my feet.
Benny Blanco
Oh, yeah, Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
I mean, that was, like, years ago. Of course I love it, dude. But what I got what I. Sorry to interrupt because I will forget I've got mad ADHD and hd.
Benny Blanco
Welcome to the adhd. He said adhd?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. Honestly, it's.
Jack
Don't. Don't disrupt him. He's done it with thought.
Barry Keoghan
It's crazy. Now I've actually put. Yeah, forgot what I'm going to say. This is part of. It happens to all of us. But no, honestly, I have been just on a serious note, you know, I feel in a safe space to say this and, you know, but I have been avoiding stuff. I have been like, you know, I came off Instagram, you know, on social profiles. I stopped going to events. I've stopped, you know, just socializing. And again, it's. Because, you know, there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on. A narrative that's not true. And I never confirmed or said anything about it. And, you know, I just disappeared.
Jack
I feel compelled to make sure I know the narrative we're even talking about. That you're talking about. Is it something about cheating?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I cheated. Yeah. And, you know, and I don't want to ever bring anyone else into it, but, like, you know, unfortunately, you know, having a relationship in the public eye, it's. It's, you know, we all know this, you know, from. From our own stories, but it gets put out there and it's like, you. You.
Chuck
It's amplified.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Amplified.
Chuck
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
So I just never, like, again, there was, you know, if you see the narrative, you see the story. A girl made a video, and then a girl actually made the same video and went, sorry for making that up, you know, but no one seemed to latch onto that video.
Jack
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Barry Keoghan
You know, it's unfortunate. She's seen the reaction, this girl. She. And I didn't want to come forward and put that girl under and go, hold on for a second.
Jack
I don't know.
Barry Keoghan
Because again, I don't know how she deals with.
Jack
Totally.
Barry Keoghan
So I'm aware of all of that. You know, I don't want to bring anyone else into it, but I. I
Chuck
would imagine it's one of those things where, like, if you just, like, kind of, like, brace for the impact and stay with it, it will, like. Like the Internet will move on. I feel like they do. I don't know my. Well, I got it. I was gonna say something.
Benny Blanco
We're just somebody who's very in it. I gotta be real with you. This thing, this shit Doesn't. No. It doesn't puzzle it for two years.
Barry Keoghan
It affect.
Jack
It's not gonna. Look, at the end of the day, I feel like you're aware of the facts at hand, and if you know what the facts at hand are in your heart. For me, like, when I see a comment that feels like they're saying something that I just patentedly or patently disagree with, I don't take it seriously because I'm like, well, that person has no basis because they're just wrong and they don't know me. Or patently, I don't know.
Benny Blanco
Blatantly.
Chuck
Blatantly, yeah.
Jack
Patently is not right. But it could be right.
Chuck
But it is what patently was. I don't think, like, you've patented the idea.
Jack
Yeah, something like that.
Benny Blanco
I thought you meant blatantly.
Jack
No, blatantly is wrong.
Benny Blanco
Blatantly is right.
Jack
But I'm just saying, for me.
Benny Blanco
For me. That's right.
Jack
I'm the same way. And I get a lot of positive comments, but I am numb to them. But if they're the right, positive comments that really speak to, like, oh, you're appreciating me in the fullest way.
Barry Keoghan
I want to be, that's lovely.
Jack
That's the best.
Barry Keoghan
And I'm not asking for people to become my fan and like me, because that's not normal either, but I'm asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can involving my. My parents who are no longer with me and my parents. Fine, whatever. But just absolutely disgusting. Vile. Like, there's videos on. On TikTok, literally going, I hate him. Because for someone who's went through that. And I'm not saying this for a pity card or. Pity me.
Chuck
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Why is it cool to. To hop on and beat someone who's come from a lot.
Chuck
Yeah.
Jack
You know, kick somebody when they're down.
Barry Keoghan
No, but like, someone like myself or kids like myself to survive and stuff I seen as a kid and stuff. I seen my mom, you know, lay on the ground after fucking injecting herself and shit that I have to fight with every day and do a lot of therapy. Went through addiction myself and in sobriety and to battle all of that, to then want to drag that person down.
Benny Blanco
It's a terrible culture, and it's sad
Chuck
because it takes away somebody like you who's had a lot of life experience. And you can probably connect with a lot of people if you felt like you had a safer space to Be yourself publicly. It's sad that I know this is.
Jack
I feel like I'm being naive for even phrasing it this way, but don't even take it seriously. They have no idea of the facts at hand, so it totally discredits whatever they're saying. I can't take anyone seriously who has a passionate opinion without having the facts at hand. So whenever I receive that information, I'm like, oh, it's meaningless now. If they're saying something that really. I'm like, fuck that.
Benny Blanco
That's what I'm saying. Or if it's someone you know, it's hard for people. Like, Selena will come to me, and she'll be like, I can't believe how well you can. Like, she's like, oh, I'll see things, and I'll wanna, like, write back in the comments about things. And I have a very unique perspective. And, you know, for me, I became really big in a certain field when I was, like, 17, 18 years old. And I'd been doing it publicly since I was a kid. And then I got to help all these other stars get their thing going. I didn't become famous until 2020, so it's only been, like, six years for me.
Jack
And it's like, that's when you met me, right?
Benny Blanco
I met him, right? Nope. I met you in 2014.
Jack
Oh, right.
Benny Blanco
What am I talking about?
Barry Keoghan
2014?
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Wow.
Jack
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
And then I got famous, and then I was like, ooh, I don't like this.
Barry Keoghan
It's a hard one, because I never want to speak on behalf of other people and also never want to. Never want to, you know, mention other people are involved. And even if it is those people that I was in a relationship with, it's not my place or it's not their place to come forward and speak on my behalf. It's unfair to them.
Jack
Yes, absolutely.
Barry Keoghan
They're also in a relationship. It's also both of us being out there for, like, you know, so. I'm very aware of that.
Benny Blanco
I have a question.
Jack
Before you ask your question, I would just like to say, patently is an adverb, meaning clearly, obviously, or plainly often used to emphasize that something is unmistakably true or evident. You guys want to hang out outside for a little bit?
Chuck
You have such a good vocabulary.
Benny Blanco
I have a question.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Is this thing a happy story?
Barry Keoghan
It's a story.
Benny Blanco
What is that?
Barry Keoghan
I've never used necrotizing fasciitis. Here's one for you. Type that in your necroside effect. Your big machine Your patently, your patent lean machine.
Benny Blanco
Your patently.
Jack
What is it called?
Barry Keoghan
The Robert Patton. My Robert Patton. This is a flesh eating, the bacteria infection that I and almost died.
Benny Blanco
How were you?
Barry Keoghan
I got it right before I filmed the movie Banshees. Banshees of Inisherin. And literally I got it three weeks beforehand. And I got it because I went through psychosis. An event happened and I got hit with a bottle and something happened to my arm. But if you type in Google, it doesn't even let you look at the images.
Chuck
It's like you got hit by a person threw a bottle at you.
Barry Keoghan
A bottle. And it went to my blood system and whatever. It's a very rare infection.
Benny Blanco
Is that what happened here?
Barry Keoghan
Necrotizing. That's a separate one.
Jack
But like what year was that? When did this happen?
Barry Keoghan
I want you to type this in when you see. But this basically it eats your limbs and they have to remove it.
Benny Blanco
They can't write more negative comment about you.
Barry Keoghan
You got too much N E, C C T R I, Z I G
Jack
I, N Z I, Z I.
Barry Keoghan
When there's a zed there, you know it's bad. Nectarizing fascia is fa.
Benny Blanco
It's got to know by now what you're. What you're saying.
Jack
Here you go.
Barry Keoghan
All right. Look at the images. Right, Images.
Jack
Oh, look, it's blurry.
Barry Keoghan
It doesn't even show you. Right?
Benny Blanco
Is it blurry?
Jack
I'm getting shown images but they're absolutely disgusting. I think I have my like adult mode on.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Jack
Oh, it's completely disgusting. What this has to.
Chuck
So this is what, it goes into your body. Oh my God. Oh, wow. It looks unreal.
Barry Keoghan
So yeah, basically these bubbles form and they have to remove whatever limb it goes on and if they don't remove
Benny Blanco
it and tomorrow, well, you still have a limb.
Barry Keoghan
I know they caught it. So they brought over doctors from Liverpool to catch it. They caught it and then I filmed the movie three weeks later.
Jack
Oh my God.
Benny Blanco
What happened to the other arm?
Barry Keoghan
This was psychosis as well.
Benny Blanco
What do you mean when you're saying psychosis for both of these.
Barry Keoghan
Psychosis event, like from drugs, you know.
Benny Blanco
Did you used to do drugs?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, yeah, I'm clean now. I'm clean like two and a half years ago.
Benny Blanco
Oh, that's good.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, good for you. But I had to almost like, you know, paper. My mom died at torture too, of heroin. My dad passed away. But the curiosity of still wanting to do this for me, of course, like it took me three attempts of rehab and I was finally Malibu the point. And there was a sudden switch. And it was when I was 32, you know, same age my mom. I was like, that's it. I'm not doing it.
Chuck
Like, do you not like, drink, do anything?
Barry Keoghan
I don't do anything.
Chuck
Did you used to do, like, drink
Barry Keoghan
animals to try to justify it by going, maybe I'll be off to drink for a while. But now I'm like, I'd like to think I'm allergic to alcohol because my reaction is cocaine. Yeah, that reaction can make me die.
Jack
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
I don't want to ever even. Yeah, I. I technically did die for a few seconds.
Jack
Now that you don't because you have like a moment of post death vision.
Barry Keoghan
I did. And it feels like now.
Benny Blanco
What'd you see?
Barry Keoghan
I swear to you, it was almost like a fucking painting. It happened in London. And, you know, I went for a few seconds and there was this sort of image, the fields, and it was the wind, but there was this girl walking away and she wouldn't look back and she had blonde hair, but she was walking away. And I kept calling her and she just kept walking. I wanted to see who it was, you know, and it was almost like she was walking away to get me to follow. And on this side was like, council flats. Where are those? Like, council flats is like council flats. Flats, like apartment council, like city council flat.
Jack
Oh, you mean like,
Benny Blanco
like public housing?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, like projects. And it's sort of where I grew up, you know, and it was black and white, and this side was in color. And on this side, there was loads of lads stabbing me and trying to push me over. And obviously was the doctors doing the work on me, you know, is what I was feeling. But in this vision, they were. They were stabbing me and pushing me, and I was holding onto them and they were trying to push me over to this side. And I swear, I shit you not, I was begging them that I could stay. I was like, please let me stay. And they were like, all right, let them stay. And literally then, yeah, wow.
Benny Blanco
Let's go outside and talk about something fun. Oh, yeah. Oh, Olipop cream soda. You know, when I was a kid, I used to drink cream soda at all the delis with my mother. And I used to put ice cream in it. And it was so unhealthy. But this thing's like, has fiber. And, you know, the more fiber you eat or drink, you're gonna be pooping like Niagara Falls. And this. This little puppy right here packs a punch. We got 9 grams of fiber in this thing.
Jack
Buy any two cans of Ollipop in store and they'll pay you back for one. Any flavor, any retailer.
Benny Blanco
Go to drinkolipop.com
Jack
tell me about Canva.
Benny Blanco
You know what? I am gonna tell you something about Canva because I have a date coming up. I wanna make it really special and I'm gonna cook a whole meal. But what I really wanna do is have like the sweetest like menu written out and I need like a flyer. You can give it. It's so easy. You can give it just like very simple tasks and then it makes you a whole thing.
Jack
Do you write like appetizer? Then it's like the lobster. Way better.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, it's going to be amazing.
Jack
Have you thought of the ideas?
Benny Blanco
Yeah, I've thought a lot of them. But with Canva it makes design easy for anyone.
Jack
Does it?
Benny Blanco
Idea generate with built in AI that lets you remove, generate and animate content in just a click.
Jack
Start designing today@canva.com design now we respect you. I'm going to go look for some. Some more Perrier for you.
Benny Blanco
Oh, this is always a deep conversation.
Chuck
I love deep conversations.
Benny Blanco
This is right. This is right during the flight.
Chuck
I live for the deep.
Benny Blanco
There's a flight path over there, Santa Monica.
Chuck
Do you fly?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Chuck
You're not scared of flying?
Barry Keoghan
So you don't fly?
Benny Blanco
I don't. I don't, no.
Chuck
But you're going to.
Benny Blanco
I'm gonna fly.
Barry Keoghan
So wait, you get to England on a boat?
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
No way.
Benny Blanco
Me and Ed Sheeran actually made an album on it one time.
Jack
He did?
Benny Blanco
Yeah. We made like one of his, I think his biggest album ever.
Barry Keoghan
I know. I know Ed quite well.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's a good friend of mine. When you said the thing earlier, the movie you were in, it sounded like you said like Banshees of Ed Sheeran. Is that what you said? Oh, it's called Banshees of Ed Sheeran. I didn't want to interrupt. You were saying something so serious about it.
Chuck
I can't believe he's doing a movie called like Bunches of you.
Barry Keoghan
Almost lost my arm. A bunch of Ed Sheeran.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Chuck, I thought he was saying bunchies of Ed Sheeran.
Jack
Orange flavored.
Barry Keoghan
Thanks, Moon.
Benny Blanco
But I thought it was.
Jack
I couldn't find another plane.
Benny Blanco
I thought you were going to say I really like you.
Chuck
I really like you too. And I really like you.
Benny Blanco
This is our most serious episode ever. I like it. No, it's cool.
Barry Keoghan
It's great to.
Benny Blanco
This is cool.
Chuck
I love any conversation about struggle and the Mind?
Barry Keoghan
No. You know what? I feel like it just feels safe to chat like that. And open and dare. Yeah, we're open.
Chuck
And you're going through a lot.
Jack
There's some sort of construction going on that the noise might be too.
Benny Blanco
Should we go inside? Sit on the couch? Okay, let's just go sit on the couch. I love how he talks, man. I would like to see you on the Internet a little more. I love your personality.
Barry Keoghan
Thanks, Mush.
Benny Blanco
Is your hair always this long?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I had long hair growing up as a kid. You know, it's rough.
Chuck
We kind of all have the hair.
Barry Keoghan
Ringo?
Benny Blanco
Yeah. You're playing a Beatle. Yeah.
Jack
Do you feel a lot of pressure to do the Beatles thing? Are you like. No, I'm looking for this.
Benny Blanco
Isn't it four movies?
Barry Keoghan
Four movies.
Chuck
Oh my God.
Benny Blanco
And then they come out a week after each other.
Barry Keoghan
I think it's like two weeks after.
Jack
Who's directing this movie?
Barry Keoghan
Samantha's.
Jack
Okay.
Benny Blanco
You learn how to play drums?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, for this? Yeah. But I boxed for like 15 years, so, like, hand, eye coordination sort of helps.
Benny Blanco
Are you good fighter?
Jack
Yeah, it's probably better than you.
Chuck
You guys want to try?
Benny Blanco
Could you. Do you think you could beat up all three of us at once?
Chuck
I don't at once.
Barry Keoghan
I'm gonna sit on the floor.
Jack
I like sitting on the floor.
Benny Blanco
I thought you were about to do it, right?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, of course.
Benny Blanco
You look like you could be like shifty. Can you guys?
Chuck
I've never. Can you guys? I've seen you fight your brother. Can you fight? Mochi, do it.
Jack
Can I fight?
Benny Blanco
I think I can. I think. I think I can fight better than everyone here except him.
Barry Keoghan
Do you know, weirdly like boxing, though, you know, when I started boxing and it was my granny who stuck me in and this is where I. I found acting, you know, because it was a street cast and there's a notice, like for kids who never acted on. I rang the number and it said.
Benny Blanco
It said kids who've never acted.
Barry Keoghan
It didn't say that. Be kind of weird.
Benny Blanco
But like I said, we're looking for kids who never acted.
Barry Keoghan
Like an open audition, like Streetcast. And it was from in the. In around the boxing club. But when I got into boxing, I stopped, you know, you didn't want to fight Wordy.
Benny Blanco
You know what I mean?
Barry Keoghan
You get an appreciation for. And it's. It's.
Benny Blanco
Is your granny still living?
Barry Keoghan
She is.
Benny Blanco
Is she just like losing it for, like how, like, you're like the ultimate success story?
Barry Keoghan
No, no, like kind of. She raised 10 kids.
Chuck
Oh, wow.
Benny Blanco
Wow.
Barry Keoghan
In this project, as you call it, this like two bedroom.
Benny Blanco
And when you got on, did you like, like, set her up in a cool house? Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
No, no, no, she's still there. No, she's. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She said she won't move.
Benny Blanco
She won't.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, no, she's.
Benny Blanco
It took me. I understand. It took me a while to get my mom to move. Like, at first she would only. My mom would only let me get. Buy her things for the house. Like, she was like, would you please buy me a dishwasher? Yeah.
Jack
Right.
Benny Blanco
And I Like a washing machine. Yeah, washing machine. That was the second one. Yeah. She wanted a dishwasher, a washing machine. And then I asked my mom, I said, mom, I'll buy. This was, you know, 15 years ago. I said, let me buy you your dream car.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
And like, my mom's dream car was
Barry Keoghan
like a Toyota Crow.
Benny Blanco
No, it was the lowest end Mercedes. Like a. Like a C200. Like. And she still has it to this day. And she's so appreciative.
Barry Keoghan
She's very appreciative. It's the meaning and the.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, she's. She's so appreciate. And I'll let you.
Chuck
How do you say appreciative?
Benny Blanco
Appreciative.
Chuck
Appreciative.
Barry Keoghan
Appreciative.
Jack
I'm from, like, respective.
Chuck
Had you.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, I'm from Virginia. Yeah.
Chuck
Say it again.
Benny Blanco
I think you're supposed to say appreciative.
Chuck
It's like the only word I've ever heard you say.
Benny Blanco
No, I say a few things. Interesting.
Barry Keoghan
Appreciative.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, I say a few things.
Chuck
Appreciative.
Benny Blanco
Now they want a good tone. I'd love to ask you something. Okay. And it's just.
Barry Keoghan
It's inappropriate and I have nothing to do with it.
Benny Blanco
It could be. Go on. It could be really inappropriate. But I have a few questions about the thing because, you know, you're ass naked in a movie. Okay.
Jack
Now you know what he said?
Benny Blanco
And I got some questions and I want to know, like, first of all, that's your real dick.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Oh, it is. Okay.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, yeah. Good dick.
Benny Blanco
Good dick. Yeah. Okay.
Chuck
I haven't seen Salt.
Benny Blanco
No. Oh, Want me to pull it up?
Barry Keoghan
No, go watch it. No, that. That was my. I actually spoke about yesterday. That was. That scene was. It started cloth, like the, the dance scene. It started with clothes, you know, in the script. And I just wanted to kind of an emerald. Wanted to make it more sort of like ownership, you know, when you dance around your place and you get out of the shower. Like, you listen to music and you're naked and we all do it. You do it in a place that's yours. You know what I'm saying? You do it.
Benny Blanco
So you. You were just like. Yeah.
Chuck
You weren't nervous?
Barry Keoghan
No, because I think even we just threw in there randomly. And I think this is thing where,
Benny Blanco
you know, make the movie. Yeah, it's like the most important everyone. It's like the most viral thing. I remember when it came out.
Barry Keoghan
It is, but it's like, I think this is a thing where even French cinema and like, just European cinema, that you're just normalized. Yeah, it's normalized. You know, and sex scenes.
Chuck
But there's not a lot of people on set when you're doing it right or.
Barry Keoghan
Well, that's the thing. Like, I mean, the bed was an 800-year-old bed that some king owned it. And, you know, they were like, you know, you can't lay on this bed. But I was like, well, I have to step into frame. So they let me lay on the bed with a hot water bottle, you know, to kind of keep like the
Jack
blood flowing to your penis.
Benny Blanco
I have to ask. I need. Wait. Okay.
Jack
So you make your dick as big as it could be.
Barry Keoghan
No, no, no.
Jack
Okay.
Benny Blanco
Okay.
Barry Keoghan
You can't do that. But like, to, like, to, you know, so you don't go, you know, so.
Jack
Oh, to be as small as.
Barry Keoghan
You can hear that?
Chuck
Because I was gonna say, I thought cold air makes.
Benny Blanco
No, this is hot water.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, but he's saying, well, not too hot because it was like, you know, scaldy. But also I'm on an 800-year-old bed and I'm like, yeah, ready? And then I step into frame.
Benny Blanco
Okay, so I need to know. So, like, are you. I don't even know how to ask.
Jack
I know what you want to ask.
Benny Blanco
Is that a good.
Jack
Are you trying to get a little bit of blood flowing to your dick and thinking about something that turns you on to have like the ideal soft, but kind of like quarter bone?
Barry Keoghan
I know what you mean.
Benny Blanco
Is that your best soft dick?
Barry Keoghan
That's a great question.
Benny Blanco
That's what I want to know. You want to know.
Jack
I think he was pleased with the outfit.
Benny Blanco
Were you pleased with the outfit?
Jack
You were pleased with your eyes?
Benny Blanco
It could have been better there. Could have been better. There could have been that perfect level of blood where she was hanging.
Barry Keoghan
Could have been.
Chuck
So you want to know about his hanging dick? No, I'm just curious. So you don't want it to be you have to, like, straddle the line.
Benny Blanco
Well, you don't want it to be too big because then you're starting to.
Barry Keoghan
You can't have an erection on screen. It's just like. And you don't want that, you know?
Chuck
But if you're thinking that you can't have one, don't you just get one? Because you're thinking. Thinking you can't have.
Barry Keoghan
But you're also, like, nervous and, like, really, like, not embarrassed, but, like, there's a whole crew, and it's also awkward for them. Yeah, yeah. Everyone thinks it's just awkward. It's awkward for everyone because everyone's sort of like, okay looking away and, like, you know, but as you're dancing in the scene and doing everything, it's.
Benny Blanco
It's a powerful scene, but it's also.
Barry Keoghan
It's getting cold as I go along those corridors and, like, does your.
Benny Blanco
I gotta rewatch it. Does your penis change size throughout the day?
Barry Keoghan
Continuity.
Benny Blanco
Then it's continuity. And how many times did you have to. To do that?
Barry Keoghan
Like, 12 times.
Chuck
Oh, my.
Benny Blanco
12 times.
Jack
Cause wasn't it like, one. Was it one shot or. No, no, one shot.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Benny Blanco
Now was like, Jacob allure. Was he like, oh, my God, I'm so happy I didn't have to do that scene?
Barry Keoghan
No, Jacob was. Where was he?
Benny Blanco
He's like, nah, my cock's huge. Exact.
Jack
What?
Benny Blanco
What?
Chuck
Jacob.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, that's a great.
Benny Blanco
Dave. Oh, Dave.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, yeah.
Benny Blanco
Oh, yeah, that's it. You thought it was you or Jacob.
Barry Keoghan
I thought it was Ringo.
Benny Blanco
Oh, no, no, no, it's not. But I see what you're saying. Wait, so was he like, whoa, man. Like, good on you for doing.
Barry Keoghan
He was like, fair play, you know. Fair play. Fair play.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
But, like, you know, it just added to again, you know, I wouldn't do something like that if it was.
Benny Blanco
There was no reason.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. And I think in what European cinema is, especially, as I said, French cinema, and you see these things and it's like, you know, it's not glamorized sex scenes. It's not like, settled perfectly. It's. It's messy and it's very easy.
Benny Blanco
When I saw it, I was like, oh, like, this made this. Knowing that it would have been clothed. Yeah, it does make it, like, it was funny. I was talking about, like, my friend has a TV show. And I said the most believable part was where she was just, like, changing and talking at the same time as she was changing, because it's like, it's real. Yeah. It's real. It's one thing. Like. Yeah, I hate when you watch movies and there's, like, sexy, sexy.
Barry Keoghan
There's a dick scene with Lady Gaga.
Chuck
Can you tell if it's a process? Like, do a lot of men do fake dicks?
Benny Blanco
What's his name? My friend did a fake dick. Yeah.
Jack
Did they ask you, did you do a fake dick?
Benny Blanco
They said, you want a fake dick? And you were like, nah, I'm.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I'm good to do it like this, if that's good. But, like, you know, damn right I'm even. We have handshakes. Yeah, yeah, we have good handshakes.
Jack
Yeah, you guys have good chemistry.
Chuck
You're getting a fake dick. Is it like, prosthetics?
Benny Blanco
Yeah, yeah.
Chuck
There's sitting in a chair.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, there's. There's prosthetics.
Barry Keoghan
Like, we can work on that.
Chuck
It's like.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, they're like, putting. I feel like getting a present.
Chuck
Oh, that was, like, doing this or just slapping everyone.
Barry Keoghan
See who's the best chemistry with.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, Like, Mark. Like, ow. Mark Wahlberg had a fake dick and Boogie Nights.
Jack
I had to. For the Met gala episode in my TV show. I wanted, because I was hiding in the bathroom the whole episode to be
Barry Keoghan
in the selfie as you do in the Met.
Jack
And then I wanted the joke to be like, someone walked in and, like, they start peeing, but I see through, like, the little thing like, that they have, like, the biggest dick of all time, and I didn't know who I was gonna get. So then Machine Gun Kelly came, and he was the guy who was gonna have the dick. And he was so, like. He was like, this is so funny. And he loved it. And the dick's so big, but it's so hyper real.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Jack
Like, I gave so many notes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Gave so many notes about, like, too thick too, like, all he was. I've never seen a situation like, his team was like, you have to leave right now. He was, like, headlining a festival that required him to get on a flight at, like, X time or he would not be able to do it. And this man pushed the boundaries of, like, he literally stayed for, like, 14 more minutes than was there. Absolute drop there. Like, you're not gonna make it.
Benny Blanco
Like, there's no way. Just so he could hold the dick.
Jack
Just so he could hold the dick. And then the whole thing ended up getting cut from the episode.
Barry Keoghan
Ah.
Chuck
Not, ah.
Benny Blanco
Let's put it. Enter it right here. Can you do that?
Jack
I'd have to.
Barry Keoghan
Can I, like, do it, like, that.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. I'd love to enter it right into this.
Barry Keoghan
Like this, like this. Look at, like.
Benny Blanco
Ah. Like, I'd love to enter it right into the.
Jack
You don't know about FanDuel Predicts, do you? Well, it's. You should get acquainted because it's playoff time, basketball playoffs.
Barry Keoghan
So.
Jack
Yeah, okay. See, like, let's ride them.
Chuck
Ride them.
Jack
Let's predict the outcome. And I think.
Chuck
What about the Sixers?
Jack
Yeah.
Chuck
I mean, how could you not say them first?
Jack
I'm rooting for them. But they're unpredictable. They are, but there are certain things that I can predict.
Chuck
They seem like something you'd want to predict.
Benny Blanco
If it's.
Jack
I love them.
Chuck
When you predicted it would be the best prediction ever.
Jack
See, I don't. I can't predict with my heart. I predict with my head, you know, but you can, you know, this is all about FanDuel Predicts and sign up
Chuck
and grab your $25 bonus on FanDuel Predicts and ride this fly off journey with me.
Jack
Why'd you enunciate ride like that?
Chuck
I couldn't see it because I'm on my glasses.
Jack
Is Wayfair Every style, every home.
Chuck
Yeah, Just what you need.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Jack
Every style, every home.
Chuck
I've been trying, you know, there's like two things I want to get. I want a cool couch, but I also want a sleeper sofa. I like. I think we should get this one. Look at how soft it looks.
Jack
I like the lumps.
Chuck
No, but look. Well, it's not lumps.
Jack
It's like ridges.
Chuck
The fabric.
Jack
Yeah, it's creased.
Barry Keoghan
Creases.
Jack
I like the creases. I'm just explaining. That is soft looking. It's got grooves like a brain. Find furniture, decor and essentials that fit your unique style and budget. Head to Wayfair.com right now to shop all things home. That's W A Y-F-A-I R.com Wayfair Every style, every home.
Benny Blanco
I really don't care what anyone thinks when I'm making stuff. Like, I care what, Like a very select. It's like the smallest group of people.
Chuck
Who are those people?
Benny Blanco
Dave's one of those people.
Barry Keoghan
I want to become one of them people.
Chuck
Yeah. What about me? You spent a lot of time with me. I'm not one.
Benny Blanco
I don't know if I play. I don't know if I like.
Jack
I think you would.
Benny Blanco
I would. I would. For sure. Definitely. Definitely. If it was like anything that had to do with like, like on screen, like, I think your sensibilities Are so good. I don't know if I would go to you for the music stuff, but I think I would go to. No, I'm just saying.
Jack
I agree.
Benny Blanco
I'm saying. But I would go to you. I think you have incredible, like anything that's like film, tv, film, tv, film, tv.
Chuck
I think I've got good musical instincts.
Jack
You have good instincts. I don't know.
Benny Blanco
I think you have good comedic instincts.
Barry Keoghan
I think you're right on what you're saying though, about this. Select few people.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, it's weird. Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
And I just don't.
Chuck
Do you watch all the. You watch all your stuff and I
Benny Blanco
have a sip of my own drink that you keep all the time.
Barry Keoghan
I watch once. Yeah, you watch once. Yeah.
Chuck
And then you never watch it again.
Jack
Aren't you so I can't imagine. Cause I'm the. Cause usually I write what I'm in. I couldn't imagine the feeling of being a star in a movie, going to this thing and seeing it for the first time with everyone else not knowing how you even feel about it again.
Barry Keoghan
It's like, you know, with you on this, you know, and we all relate to this. I think once you do it and once. For me, it's like always telling the truth. The closest I can get to telling the truth on screen, you know, because for a lot of my parts, I recall a lot of stuff. It's exhausting. And I go back to places and bring it forward. I use music to get me to a state of emotion and stay in it. And if the story is a bit far fetched or seen from my own truth, I'll try and match it somehow and use my imagination. But if I'm. If I can just tell the truth of the closest to it, then I'm happy. Yeah, I'm not looking for anything else, really. Like, I'm not looking at. I'm just looking at, you know, when you're telling the truth in the eyes. And that's all I'm looking for.
Chuck
Do you ever do a take or you do like a couple takes and you're like, man, I really hope they don't use that one take. And then you see in the premiere, they use the one take or no.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, you do.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
The thing that does happen. Yeah.
Chuck
You can't ever be like, after you shoot it, like, hey, man, just so you know, don't use that one. Hey, girl.
Jack
Yeah, I'd be like, I have to
Benny Blanco
use the best table. So I'm so controlling of the edit that's in everything. I do. I'm so, like, I sit.
Jack
I know, but it'd be so nice to not be in control and know that you're in, like, the hands of the directors you work with. You know that everything you do pretty much is going to come out looking,
Barry Keoghan
having a good relationship with them and being like, look, let's add. I think I can get deeper with this one, you know? And I know when I know it, and I know when I can. I know when I'm. I have to put it on, and I hate that. And I know when I'm telling the truth because my tone and pitch changes or, you know, people. People want you to chat to people like this, you know, on screen. I'm like, we don't do that. I chat like this. I chat like that. And it's like, that's true. So when I'm forced to do something like that, I'm like, I can't find the truth in that, you know? Oh, sorry.
Benny Blanco
You play, like, such different types of, like. We always talk about it, like, Dave's like, he could. He could. There's, like, only so many types of guys he can't play. Guy, like, aren't you in, like, Peaky Blinders and stuff? You're like a man. Aren't you?
Chuck
Like a guy.
Barry Keoghan
Shout out to Peaky Blinders, what's up?
Benny Blanco
But, like, can't. You're, like, playing guys and, like, sometimes you're playing, like, aren't you, like, playing the joker, too?
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, but here's the thing. And this is range.
Jack
I played the Joker, too.
Barry Keoghan
This is Range, you know, like.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, you got right.
Barry Keoghan
With Banshees of Ed Sheeran. Yeah, you know, Banshees. But, like, I play, like, a character so far from what I've played.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
I play an innocent, like, you know, such a lovely kid.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
And that's the one I was nominated for an Oscar for. And that was to show vulnerability and show such a soft side. And then I'd go and play villains and wherever, but, like, I can play both.
Jack
And Killing of the Sacred Deer.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, yeah.
Benny Blanco
You know, he played the joker, too.
Jack
Did you? I made a music video in Lithuania, like, two years ago.
Barry Keoghan
Did you?
Jack
Yeah. And it's true. I basically think I can act really well as myself.
Barry Keoghan
You'd be a great joker.
Jack
Do you want me to show. Can I show you my performance?
Barry Keoghan
I thought you did tv, but it's a tv.
Benny Blanco
No, Chuck, I'd like you to do it in person.
Barry Keoghan
No.
Chuck
Or show the.
Jack
I don't even have my hair. And makeup on.
Barry Keoghan
I knew that was a tv, because I've seen.
Jack
I'm so proud of this.
Chuck
I actually love this music video. It's the production value. It's incredible.
Barry Keoghan
In Lithuania, you show.
Benny Blanco
I'm not showing the whole music video. No, I'm just gonna show your entrance.
Jack
So you guys keep talking YouTube.
Benny Blanco
No, don't you gotta be in the convo?
Jack
I'm here. I'm right here.
Chuck
Wait. I was gonna ask you about character when you're playing a different well, but I just feel like it's gonna get interrupted instantly by you playing this.
Jack
Not at all. I'm far away. I have to do a whole mode issue.
Chuck
Oh, I was gonna say when you said that you, like, you always try to find truth in the characters. Do you always try to find, like, a little bit like you're playing a role, Obviously it's not you, but you try to, like, find a little bit of yourself.
Barry Keoghan
Definite always.
Chuck
But does that scare you if you're gonna, like, play the joke?
Barry Keoghan
Because you have to get. You have to get to a vulnerable state. And, you know, we constantly walk around putting ourself on guard and, like, putting this image on for people and whether we like it or not. But I always try and get to a really vulnerable state and an honest state, which is scary because we don't do that day to day.
Jack
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
You're like, yeah, but I'm doing it for my art.
Chuck
But when you are done filming, can you turn off at night? Like, if you're gonna. Like, when you do the Joker and it's, like, darker, are you gonna be. Do you, like. Do you have any anxiety about, like.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, you can never turn off about coping. You know, it's like opening the jar Again, you don't do for every scene, like, picking up a glass, but you'll do it for those scenes that require, like, you know, the emotion.
Chuck
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Wow.
Jack
I love that.
Benny Blanco
You want to be an artist. Yes,
Jack
I am an artist. I'm very talented. Love this.
Barry Keoghan
I love the framing.
Chuck
Yeah.
Jack
Thank you.
Chuck
It's such a good video.
Benny Blanco
He clearly did not absorb the material.
Jack
I just want to take things in a bit more unconventional direction.
Barry Keoghan
He's got a Charlie Chapman, sort of
Jack
the perfect 10 seconds aren't real,
Benny Blanco
but
Jack
the reveal was 10 seconds. Iron.
Barry Keoghan
Perfect.
Benny Blanco
Love that.
Barry Keoghan
I love that. It's class, man.
Jack
I love that.
Chuck
It's so good.
Jack
Thank you.
Barry Keoghan
So good, man.
Jack
I'm really proud of it, honestly.
Benny Blanco
I love that.
Chuck
I haven't seen it since you did it. I loved it.
Jack
Thank you so. Yeah.
Benny Blanco
I like when Dave does the serious, like, humans. Super emotional humans.
Jack
I could only do two things. Me, act like I am now in any situation.
Barry Keoghan
That's the hardest.
Jack
I'm lucky to feel like it's the easiest, but then maybe I can do that, and then I can't do anything else. I don't think.
Barry Keoghan
Boy, I don't know.
Jack
And maybe I'm just limiting myself unnecessarily.
Benny Blanco
But, like, if I feel like you can.
Jack
Only if they were like, hey, you gotta be in, like, Dunkirk and you're, like, from London and you're in, like, a different time. I just don't. I guess I could work my.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, but he's like, you're like a special case. You're like a date. Daniel Day Lewitt, like most people, like, Seth Rogen is playing himself in different iterations. And it's like. Yeah, it's like you're like a real deal, and Seth is a real deal actor.
Jack
No, I know what you're saying, and
Benny Blanco
so are you, but you're like a thing. It's like a different thing. You can transform into another human being.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. Thank you. That means Daniel David was my favorite.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Oh, my God. Like, Christian Bale can be like a different.
Barry Keoghan
Keep talking, Benny.
Jack
Keep talking.
Benny Blanco
Would you ever do one of those where you were. You lost, like. Where you lost, like, a million pounds for.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I mean, I've lost so much weight on this movie. You know, not to put it to this movie, but just because.
Benny Blanco
How much?
Barry Keoghan
I mean, I was like, 65. 66 kilo, dude.
Chuck
I can see how much.
Barry Keoghan
58 kilo.
Benny Blanco
Okay.
Barry Keoghan
Which is like.
Benny Blanco
What's 65 kilos? What's 66. What's 66 kilos in pounds? What's 66 kilos in pounds, 145 pounds. And now what are you.
Barry Keoghan
Now I'm like 58.
Benny Blanco
58 kilos in pounds.
Chuck
Just do the.
Benny Blanco
Oh, yeah, just do the math. What are you talking. He's. You're £127 right now.
Barry Keoghan
But it's because of my ADHD meds as well. Like, you know.
Benny Blanco
But did you. Did they tell you to lose weight first?
Chuck
No.
Barry Keoghan
No one ever tells you to lose weight. And you don't need to lose it for, like, Ringo either. You know, it's. It's. It's just more.
Jack
The anxiety.
Barry Keoghan
No, the more of the.
Benny Blanco
To get into character.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. And the stamina of working wasn't skinny like that. No, it's just that I think, you know, movies usually last six, seven weeks or two. Three months. And by the time. I always lose weight towards the end, but by that time, I'm gone.
Jack
You're withering away due to the production. Not. You're not making a choice to lose weight for the role.
Benny Blanco
Are you, like, actively. Are you actively being like. Oh, I'm.
Barry Keoghan
No, I eat, like, so much chocolate and so much.
Benny Blanco
Are you a health.
Barry Keoghan
I'm health. I'm healthy.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, you're healthy.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
What'd you eat yesterday? Wait, yesterday? Oh, wait, she has a question.
Barry Keoghan
I have a sea bass from rice.
Chuck
Wait, no. I was gonna ask you about your ADHD meds, because do you. Do you take what? I take them. I've been on them since I was 13. You take them too, but do you take them when you act?
Barry Keoghan
I take them every day. I'm on, like, 100 milligrams of, like, Elvance.
Chuck
Oh, a Vyvans.
Barry Keoghan
That's what you call avoidance. Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Chuck
Well, no, I call it.
Barry Keoghan
I've been on concert.
Chuck
Oh, yeah, I used to take concert.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, I was on that.
Chuck
I feel like it's harder for boys to take it. Like, when boys get on the medication, like, young boys, they don't like it
Benny Blanco
because it represses your personality, sense of self.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. Did it?
Benny Blanco
Yeah. I didn't. I. My mom even agreed when she. I went to, like, I was doing a concert and I was like. And I couldn't. I couldn't.
Chuck
But you can take all different kinds. Like, they can find the right one.
Benny Blanco
I just didn't. Eventually, I grew to. And some people. It works great.
Barry Keoghan
For me, I was so scatty without it.
Chuck
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
You know, I've been on it, like, six years now. Longer, probably. And, you know, it's long release, slow release throughout the day. I take it every. Like, when I wasn't taking it, I was like, you know, and then I'd be impulsive and, you know, and now I'm like. I can focus on. On what I'm doing and don't feel it's kind of affected me. But it suppresses your appetite. So I have to eat a lot in the morning.
Benny Blanco
So yesterday you only had sea bass?
Barry Keoghan
No, I had cba.
Benny Blanco
Tell me, where'd you wake up? What time did you wake up? I wake up at 5am every day, no matter what. Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. I'm run.
Benny Blanco
Okay, so you're like 4K. 5K.
Barry Keoghan
And then I spot.
Benny Blanco
So you woke up at 5am no, not yesterday.
Barry Keoghan
Cause I'm in the States. I woke up at, like, 7 and went boxing.
Benny Blanco
You have to do Physical stuff every day, literally. I don't know what happened after. So you boxed at seven.
Chuck
You went and ate the seven.
Benny Blanco
And are you, like, really, like, going,
Jack
who are you boxing with?
Barry Keoghan
Boxing in Fortune's gym.
Benny Blanco
Gym.
Barry Keoghan
Okay, Melrose.
Jack
But like, it's like a public gym.
Barry Keoghan
No, you'd be a member. Yeah, I go there every time, but I'm in boxing club at home in London.
Benny Blanco
Okay, so you box.
Jack
Do you box random men there? No, you just, you can.
Benny Blanco
What if someone hits you in the face, though?
Barry Keoghan
I mean, they can because it's illegal.
Benny Blanco
Oh, you're good.
Chuck
But otherwise you can't just get knocked in the face.
Barry Keoghan
No, you got a milk guard. You got.
Chuck
Yeah, but I thought boxing, when I did it once, it was like, you have to like, choreographed.
Benny Blanco
Would you ever get in the ring? Oh, that's like training with Mike Tyson right now. Okay, you get in the ring, not Mike Tyson. No, you get in the ring with Mike Tyson for, for one round, you're guaranteed to win an Oscar. But you have the feeling you, you, you get to do your best role and you would have known that you were going to get it and you know you're getting the opportunity of a lifetime, but you have to go in for one round and there is a chance you could die. Yeah, but like, it's not like a high chance. Would you do it?
Barry Keoghan
Would I go in?
Benny Blanco
Nah, you wouldn't. Even at his age right now I
Barry Keoghan
want to earn that.
Benny Blanco
No, no, you're earning it. You're earning it. You have the sense of earning it, but it just guarantees that it happens in your life.
Jack
First off, would you be just absolutely terrified to get in the ring with Mike Tyson, for one? Yeah, definitely.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, definitely. I wouldn't get in with allegedly.
Benny Blanco
Would you get in the. You'd get in the ring with, like, Jake Paul, right? Yeah, you would.
Barry Keoghan
Which this is going to be lined up?
Benny Blanco
I don't know. I don't know. Jake Paul's huge, Huge weight is a real thing. Okay, so you woke up, you boxed.
Barry Keoghan
Boxed.
Benny Blanco
What'd you do after you boxed?
Barry Keoghan
I've done some press, done some, like, radio and things.
Benny Blanco
Did you eat yet?
Barry Keoghan
Did I eat. That's all. I don't eat in the morning usually. I. I mean, yesterday I had M and Ms. Waking up.
Chuck
Do you want some? I just pulled some out of the bathroom.
Barry Keoghan
Those are mint ones.
Jack
We have mint ones.
Barry Keoghan
No, peanut mint.
Chuck
We do mint M&M's.
Jack
They're not M&Ms. They're shaped like M&M's.
Benny Blanco
They're delicious, but they're awesome.
Barry Keoghan
My eat is good, though.
Benny Blanco
Okay, so you do.
Chuck
But the ADHD medication does suppress your appetite.
Barry Keoghan
Does.
Chuck
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
So, like, you know, especially when you're walking as well. You're, like, so focused on. And then by the time, like, you know, dinner comes, it's like I end up having, like, sea bass or, like a dairy milk.
Chuck
Dairy milk.
Benny Blanco
Dairy milk or sea bass. Is there a milk? Dairy milk?
Chuck
You mean just a glass of milk?
Benny Blanco
You like miso sea bass?
Barry Keoghan
I've not tasted it.
Benny Blanco
Oh, my God. Have you? Like, I make it all the time.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, it's like a. It's like Japanese. Like miso. Have you have miso cod?
Barry Keoghan
No. Miso cod? No. Miso horny, sticky cod?
Benny Blanco
No. Like, it's like a. Do you cook at all or. No.
Barry Keoghan
I'm so bad at cooking. Wa.
Chuck
Can we just talk about dairy milk? Did you just say dairy.
Barry Keoghan
Dairy milk?
Chuck
Right.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Jack
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
No, dairy milk is like chocolate.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Dairy milk. The. The UK Chocolate.
Barry Keoghan
Such a sweet tooth. So good.
Benny Blanco
You know, Dairy milk is crunchy or crunch. Crunchy, I think is my favorite one.
Barry Keoghan
Crunchy dairy milk.
Jack
Do you always have a TV in your trailer?
Barry Keoghan
I do, but I don't watch it.
Benny Blanco
What do you do? I do it for fun or you don't have fun?
Barry Keoghan
What do I do for fun? I like the box, you know, like the boxing. And I moved outside of London into Henley. Gorgeous place.
Chuck
But all because of the online stuff.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Jack
It's just. It's gonna go away.
Benny Blanco
It's not gonna go away.
Barry Keoghan
It's not.
Benny Blanco
I'm not. I'm not. I'm not lying to you. It's gonna be a part of a thing. But you will do more things that will push it to this point.
Jack
It's not gonna affect your work.
Barry Keoghan
Like today.
Benny Blanco
No.
Barry Keoghan
I had to address it.
Chuck
I have never been served one thing about it.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. I didn't even know I had a lot.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. I didn't know if you're looking on the Internet.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. I didn't even know.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
And also, like, I. The funny thing is. Yeah. Like, my. My, like, explore page. Like, I never get one thing of myself.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Like, and she said. She said she gets so much. Yeah. And I. Yeah. I don't get, like, mine's like food and architecture.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. If you're looking for it. Yeah.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. I don't look.
Chuck
I'm not looking for Benny. He just always pops up.
Benny Blanco
Chuck, do you like summer camp?
Jack
Yeah. Favorite part of life.
Benny Blanco
It was one of my favorite. Favorite times in my entire life, and I just reconnected with a few of our friends that I hadn't connected with. Meeting up and renting a home on Airbnb and just, like, doing a whole Color wars thing and having, like, the best time.
Jack
Airbnb is something that I haven't really spoken about how Airbnb connected us early on in our relationship.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, it did.
Jack
Yeah. If you hadn't booked that home on Airbnb's platform that day, you wouldn't have given me that ride home. We wouldn't have connected maybe at the length I think we would have connected at anyways, but it was a gift.
Chuck
Airbnb connected us because I got to give you the ride home and I got to spend extra time with you and I got to know you.
Benny Blanco
We respect you.
Chuck
We love you, Airbnb.
Jack
We love Airbnb, and we love you. This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp, which is great.
Chuck
I texted my therapist today. I just thought to myself, why am I trying to figure it all out?
Jack
It's good to have help. And by the way, you can tell me anything, but it's probably stuff we've already talked about.
Chuck
You already know about all of it, but I think she's really great at helping me talk through it. And also, it's better probably to like, like, outsource some of it so you don't have to take that burden.
Jack
But I'm happy to sign up and get 10% off@betterhelp.comfks that's betterhelp h lp.comfks
Chuck
I actually feel like you are a really good person to go to therapy. Yeah.
Jack
Why don't I get on BetterHelp and check it out? Let's work together to improve. And I love you. I love you, too.
Chuck
Moshi.
Barry Keoghan
At the same time, it's like you still want it.
Benny Blanco
What's that like? You know, Mr. M M's?
Jack
No. I think they might.
Chuck
I found them in the bathroom.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, yeah? What, in the bedroom?
Benny Blanco
Let me see. I don't want to eat food found in the bath. Let me see. Let me see. Let me see it.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, they are.
Benny Blanco
Oh, those actually are. Those aren't my favorite food. No, I don't. I like the peanut.
Jack
I'm interested.
Barry Keoghan
I'll have one.
Jack
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Here you go. I like peanuts. Yeah.
Benny Blanco
The chocolate in the UK is so much better than the chocolate in America. It's crazy.
Barry Keoghan
The milk, isn't it?
Benny Blanco
Yeah. The chocolate is unbelievable. But you guys have terrible sour candy.
Chuck
I love Cadbury.
Barry Keoghan
No, we're not as good as usual, sour candy.
Chuck
You know what I recently heard on the news?
Barry Keoghan
What?
Chuck
You know Reese's Cups?
Barry Keoghan
I love it.
Chuck
Well, have you noticed that the inside of it tastes different?
Barry Keoghan
A bit like fish, right?
Chuck
Yeah. They've changed.
Benny Blanco
Fish.
Chuck
They've changed.
Barry Keoghan
No, the formula. Honestly, they taste a bit like fish. I had one the other night.
Chuck
They've changed, like, the stuff inside, and the, like, son of the guy or the grandson of the guy who invented Reese's, like, came out and said to. Is it Hershey's? Who? Whatever the company is. They were like, how dare you? Yeah, they're like, go back to the Hershey and Reese's.
Jack
Hershey could be old friends.
Barry Keoghan
Reese's I love.
Chuck
Yeah, yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Absolutely love it.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Reese's I love.
Barry Keoghan
I used to melt bounty on a plate. No. Bounty chocolate in the microwave here.
Jack
It's like, fabric soft.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Bounty I used to melt in the microwave and just like.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. The English candies. I always. When I go there, I bring so many back.
Barry Keoghan
See, I think you are kind of, like, used to it. It. Used to it. Well, you do junk food, like.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, we do.
Chuck
Yeah.
Benny Blanco
But you guys have your ingredients. Your crisps are great, too. Oh, yeah, you're crisp. You have, like, the best crisps.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, we've. Good.
Jack
Did you have a phase in your career where you were, like, a struggling working actor or, like. I don't. Did you have, like, a long chunk before you had a big moment, or did you have a big moment early? I. I don't know. The.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah. Sort of a moment where I was going from just going from stuff to stuff. You know, I didn't ever really have a moment of. Only until I chose to have the moments of not working, you know, from choosing and picking. Yeah.
Jack
So you've always.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Jack
What was your first role?
Barry Keoghan
Big one.
Jack
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Big one would be a movie called 71 and then Dunkirk.
Jack
Oh, you were. Oh, yeah, I said Dunkirk.
Barry Keoghan
Oh, I thought you were just saying it. No. Yeah, I was. Dunkirk.
Jack
I wasn't saying it because I didn't
Barry Keoghan
even know you were. That's nice.
Chuck
I thought Dunkirk was a great movie.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah, it was my.
Chuck
You were great in it.
Jack
Can I be honest about Dunkirk?
Chuck
Haven't seen a while.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Tell us your. Honest.
Barry Keoghan
I know.
Jack
It's my fault. I had trouble understanding it.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Cause the time.
Chuck
You mean that?
Jack
I just had trouble understanding, like, the plot, like, the.
Chuck
Like the historical moment of Dunk.
Jack
Like, who was who and what people. Like, I just didn't quite. I couldn't. And I like movies that don't spell out, like, this is the plot. So, like. And I. It was Christopher Nolan, right?
Barry Keoghan
That's it.
Jack
The best director ever. I just, like, couldn't. And maybe sue me if you want, but maybe I have trouble sometimes with accents. Sometimes I really have trouble hearing.
Barry Keoghan
Yeah.
Jack
And then I. And then I feel like. Because in that movie, am I right, that everybody was uniformed, wearing kind of similar clothing. Maybe it was hard for me to, like, they were.
Chuck
You know what the movie's about?
Benny Blanco
War.
Jack
I know it's about war. There were soldiers in a war. But I didn't. And I don't know.
Benny Blanco
I don't know the history of it.
Jack
So I don't know the facts. Like, I'm not a good history guy. So I kind of need.
Benny Blanco
I know nothing about history.
Jack
So I just couldn't work.
Barry Keoghan
I'm guilty of that as well. And I wanted to stay naive to it all because my character was. I was like, I don't want to know a whole lot.
Benny Blanco
I don't know anything about.
Chuck
You learned a lot. Did you learn a lot shooting it?
Barry Keoghan
I did. I learned a lot. But I also didn't want to be. I'm not one of those, you know, actors who want to surround myself with all of that information. I've never finished school. I was kicked out of school. So I don't have that background of academic, you know. So I'm not gonna pretend to go and know all about the war and everything else. And it sort of lends itself to me as well. But I chose on that one to really stay naive to it. Cause the character was really naive to it.
Benny Blanco
The crazy thing is, I respect you so much more now because you're nothing like any of the people you ever play. Like, most of the time you meet an actor. A lot of the actors we meet,
Barry Keoghan
they're carrying a novel. They're like. Like, so, like, you know, to read.
Benny Blanco
You're nothing like the guy. You're, like, the most cool down to earth. Like, I love that. Like, you're. You're.
Chuck
You're one of us. You're an alien.
Benny Blanco
Yeah. Like, I'm like, you know, sometimes we want to hang out with the people. Like, after. Like, I want to keep this thing going. Like, don't you want to keep it going? Oh, my God. I'm going to be in the uk. Will you hang out with me? Or you're just pretending?
Barry Keoghan
No. Take my number.
Benny Blanco
All of you. Okay. Well, not on air.
Jack
Are you standing up to hug?
Benny Blanco
Yeah, I think.
Barry Keoghan
Obviously. Get in here. These are legends Come here.
Benny Blanco
Okay.
Jack
Did you have fun?
Barry Keoghan
That's lovely. Yeah, that was lovely, honestly.
Benny Blanco
Yeah, that was so much fun.
Barry Keoghan
I was nervous.
Benny Blanco
I was a little.
Barry Keoghan
We were a little.
Benny Blanco
I was.
Jack
I wasn't nervous, but he was just.
Barry Keoghan
Let me. It was so chill and talk, and it was like. It was really.
Benny Blanco
Is this the most fun you've ever
Jack
had on a podcast? It's not a podcast.
Barry Keoghan
In general. On an interview, podcast, anything.
Benny Blanco
This is the most fun you've ever had in your life. Good.
Barry Keoghan
I say I'll be pretending now.
Benny Blanco
Yeah.
Barry Keoghan
Okay.
Benny Blanco
Good. Good. This episode is brought to you by Dominoes.
Podcast: Friends Keep Secrets
Hosts: Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky (Dave Burd), Kristin Batalucco, Jack, Chuck
Guest: Barry Keoghan
Date: April 28, 2026
This episode of Friends Keep Secrets is a loose, sprawling, and ultimately deeply real hangout with Irish actor Barry Keoghan. Set against the familiar, playful chaos of the hosts' LA home, the conversation veers between levity (pizza, name mispronunciations, M&Ms in odd places) and vulnerability, as Barry talks about fame, social media, addiction, acting, and his working-class upbringing. It's both an honest look at the costs of celebrity and a testament to the power of safe, genuine friendship.
00:02–02:09
03:33–07:18
“For someone who’s went through that... stuff I seen as a kid and stuff I seen my mom... lay on the ground after fucking injecting herself and shit that I have to fight with every day... went through addiction myself and in sobriety and battle all of that, to then want to drag that person down...”
— Barry, 09:54–10:19
07:18–08:14
05:41–06:33, 12:08–12:39
12:31–16:56
Barry shares a harrowing story of almost dying from necrotizing fasciitis before filming “The Banshees of Inisherin.” (13:16–14:20)
He explains the infection resulted from a psychosis event related to drug use.
Barry’s journey through addiction, multiple stints in rehab, and achieving sobriety two and a half years ago parallels his mother’s struggles and death:
“It took me three attempts of rehab and I was finally [in] Malibu... there was a sudden switch... when I was 32, you know, same age my mom. I was like, that's it, I'm not doing it.” — Barry, 14:41
He describes technically dying for a few seconds in London, sharing a vivid vision he had while unconscious:
“It was almost like a fucking painting... fields... the wind... a girl walking away and she wouldn’t look back…”
— Barry, 15:33
20:05–34:41
Barry is asked about pressure playing Ringo Starr in a new Beatles film series. He confirms he learned drums and draws parallels with his boxing background (“I boxed for like 15 years…” — Barry, 20:21).
He credits his grandmother with supporting both his entry into boxing and acting.
The group dives into the reality of nudity on film—addressing Barry’s viral nude scene in “Saltburn.” Barry emphasizes its artistic realism and cultural differences with European and French cinema:
“I wouldn’t do something like that if it was... there was no reason. […] French cinema, and you see these things... it’s not like, settled perfectly. It’s messy and it’s very real.” — Barry, 27:01
They discuss prosthetic vs. real nudity; Barry opted for authenticity.
35:32–39:09
38:45–41:31
44:11–48:11
48:40–50:59
“You’re nothing like the guy [characters]. You’re, like, the most cool down-to-earth. Like, I love that.”
— Benny, 51:13
Barry on Internet Hate:
"Why is it cool to hop on and beat someone who's come from a lot?"
— 09:48
On Addiction and Recovery:
"It took me three attempts of rehab... there was a sudden switch. And it was when I was 32, you know, [the] same age my mom [was when she died]... I was like, that's it. I'm not doing it."
— 14:41
Describing His Out-of-Body, Near-Death Vision:
"...there was this sort of image, the fields, and it was the wind, but there was this girl walking away and she wouldn't look back... On this side was like, council flats... and on this side, there was loads of lads stabbing me and trying to push me over. ...I was begging them that I could stay."
— 15:33
On Choosing Authenticity in Acting:
"Once you do it... for me it's like always telling the truth. The closest I can get to telling the truth on screen… I use music to get me to a state of emotion... If I can just tell the truth or the closest to it, then I'm happy."
— 32:05
On Not Being Like Other Actors:
"You're nothing like the guy. You're, like, the most cool down to earth. Like, I love that. Like, you're... you're..."
— 51:13
The episode balances the show's signature playfulness (banter about food, pranking, candid sex talk) with rare, raw admissions about fame’s downsides, addiction, and childhood trauma. The hosts skillfully create a space for Barry to be emotionally open but never pushy or sensationalistic. The overall mood is warm, irreverent, and strangely healing—genuine friendship as salve for public wounds.
You don’t need any prior knowledge of the Friends Keep Secrets world to be moved by this episode. It’s a refreshingly honest glimpse behind the entertainment industry, offering not just career anecdotes but real testimony about resilience, vulnerability, and the power of being “one of us.”
